What a nice guy. He's like papa smurf and santa. *note: he always wears sandals and socks, even in the winter.
He is a nice guy. But, the entire Chem department (including Anderson) are prone to not give you the benefit of the doubt. Anderson had the reputation of being an easy grader, but when I took him, he was a strict one. So, I guess it just depends...

Awesome teacher! Hands out objectives he is going to cover and worksheets. Study the work sheets and should do fine on the test. Take Anderson for Chem 204
When I look back on it I am very glad that I took Dr. Anderson. He isn't the easiest Chemistry teacher, but he does teach well. If you like examples, this is the teacher for you!
Seriously comical guy without meaning to be. Such a Santa! Do his worksheets and the tests will be ok. In class you will work a lot of examples. He gives good explainations.
Doesn't seem like he wants to really be there.
Very funny teacher, but sometimes was hard to understand-i would recommend him though

Great guy. Gives you your notes, and worksheets. Tells you everything you need to know. Easy if you study.
"doesn't seem like he wants to really be there"...exactly...
He is a great guy. He tries to help everyone understand but Gen Chem 2 is just hard sometimes. He does a great job teaching and he loves to help you if you ask him. You'll have to study and do a lot of examples on your own but an A isn't out of reach.
He's a nice guy but he's notes are very unorganized. Don't take him if you like to have your stuff organized because it won't be!! He is quite amusing though.
cutest guy ever! his tests are easy, and his outfits are a riot! (sandals with socks, shorts in winter, etc) lectures are easy, just make sure to take good notes! an easy A if you're good in science/math
Really nice guy, I loved his personality. Just make sure you keep up with studying and doing work outside of class and you'll be fine. I didn't and did really bad in the class but that's my own fault.
Definatley the hardest class my freshman year, but Anderson was a great teacher. A lot of examples, not many notes. Keep up in the class and it wont be to bad. Tests are pretty standard (3+Final) and 6 homework assignments. Homework is easy and prepares you for the tests.
Care alot. Helpful and easy to talk to. Works hard for students. Sometimes unclear, but usually go at explaing hard concepts. Several 50pt quizes, never checks homework.
Really funny! I love chemistry, but it was an easy class. Take him for lab if you can. My friend that didn't have him for lab had twice the work that I did.
he was very helpful and explained things in a way that everyone could relate to. do go to class tho since he teaches the materials from the book, but doesn't use the book.
The best gen chem professor around. Great setup, doesn't kill you with homework and tests aren't bad. I showed up to class knew what was going on and got A's on all the tests. If you're taking Chem take this guy. His lab is infinitely easier than Doyle, forget Doyle take ANderson.
Gives you notes/studyguides and tells you everything you need to know. Tests are not bad, probably the easiest chem teacher. Sometimes confusing, but most of the time very clear with explaining things. Also an EASY prof. for lab!
I had very poor exposure to Chemistry in high school, and at the beginning this class was very challenging, but Anderson is always more than willing to help. His office ours are convenient, and he teaches the subject very well. He always has funny comments in his lectures, and even though I got a B+, I would take him again in a heartbeat!
Easiest gen chem prof. Very good at explaining concepts and is surprisingly thorough when he wants to be. His teaching style worked for me. I totally winged the final and got an A. Do the bookwork if you need help with a concept, but it is not essential. To practice for his tests, go to Dr. Freitag and Dr. Mattson's pages and dl their oldtests
I think this guy is an Idiot, worst teacher and person I have met so far at Creighton....very unprofessional
He's a great/easy teacher. Always explains things well. He'll go over most things more than once to make sure you've got it. I'd definately recommend him for the first chemistry class of college. I hadn't taken any chemistry since soph year in high school and I got an A. He'd also funny and super hot, I love his pants with the yellow butt stain.
Take it from someone who has had Dr. Anderson AND Dr. Mattson---ANDERSON is the best. He is very clear and prepares you much better for the exams. best gen chem prof. on campus. and hes sooo cute!
worst teacher i've ever had. he sucks at explaining things and when it comes to going in for help he never answers your question. definatly the worst teacher here.
People complaining about Anderson would flunk any other chem prof's class. Anderson is helpful and willing to sit down with you and explain anything you don't understand, and explain it again if he has to until you understand it. People always come up with lame excuses to badmouth him, but the fact is that poor chemistry students do poorly.
He gives you handout notes and practice exams, but he skips steps when explaning things. I emailed him multiple times about getting some help and asking about my progress in class...his response "Oh I'll get back to u later today" Sorry, school is over now, too late for that. UNHELPFUL PROFESSOR. Better for lab, maybe.
I'm taking it over the summer and I think it's only because of him, that the class isn't as horrible as it could be. I'm a bit mixed about his attitude with students, but I think that he's a nice guy, overall. Today was our last day of lab and he was taking pictures of us. cute huh? =P haha
He was so nice. Sometimes he'd stop mid-sentence and forget what he was saying, but aside from that he's very clear about what you need to know. He gives you plenty of things to practice on so you feel prepared going into a test. Do homework from the book! (He uses some as test questions!) Take him; he's such an adorable old man!
He explains each type of problem you will encounter and gives lots of practice problems. He does an especially good job of preparing you for lab.
Best Gen Chem Prof. It's literally impossible not to do well if you do the work and come to class. Explains every problem on test.
Very helpful and extremely friendly. He gives handout notes and worksheets, and explains everything that you will need to know for the test. Excellent chemistry professor.
Great prof! Goes over everything you need to know carefully for every test. Practice test are especially helpful. Take him if you can.
Very helpful and friendly. Not always the most clear but is always willing to explain further.
He's a great professor! I really enjoyed having him this semester. Take his class because he's extremely helpful and always willing to help you if you ask him. :)
Do the homework and you'll be fine. Tests are not that difficult and neither is lab. I liked him.
Easy class and also hes a funny man. Sometimes a little boring. Doesnt grade homework.
Dr. Anderson is a great Chemistry professor.
He is an awesome teacher and his lectures are interesting and fun. Not a conventional prof, but a good one.
he is a really fun guy but not too great of a teacher at all... his practice test and worksheets that he gives out are horrible. he gives out the answers for them but the answers are often wrong and this is especially common on the practice tests.
Extremely easy, great guy. Tests are one page front and back, with about three weekly online homework assignments.
He's a nice guy. The final can really make or break you so do well.
Rather than teaching concepts, he goes over examples then lets you figure out what happened later. He thinks that students are absent minded, ie, he recommends that everyone goes to class, that everyone buys a book otherwise they will have a hard time, ect. In short, the worst professor that I have ever had, and I had accounting with Melba Lucas.
He is very old school and isn't on the same wavelength as students.

May be considered unconventional by Creighton standards but is effective nonetheless. Always keeps things interesting by providing insight not in the book and encourages class discussion
this guy pretty much blows, he is not on the same level as students, and the only thing that goes into your grade is 50 pt "quizzes" (but they are really tests) and one final exam that is 100...he is way to old to still be teaching and the questions on the wksts he gives you always have wrong answers... avoid if you can
Great teacher! Willing to work with you outside of class. For a person that hates history, I loved going to this class. Tests are kind of difficult but assignments are pretty easy. One big paper and a few short essays throughout the semester. Overall great teacher, I highly recommend him!
Very different teaching style. Never lectured about what was in the textbook. But lectures were always interesting. Tests are hard-identify terms and short essays. Don't fall behind on the readings. I overslept and missed the midterm, and he was understanding enough to let me write a paper to make up for it, so of course I would recommend him
The best chemistry prof ever
He is a good teacher, people only complain b/c they do not go up to him and ask him for help. He knows what he is talking about and a great professor.
i went to his office many many times and he still could never make me really understand....i do not advise you to take him
He is just too old and its time for him to retire
He's a pretty good teacher, but you get no homework so you have to be motivated outside of class to study on your own. I never studied and ended up with a B, but an A is very attainable if you put in work. If you are going to study a lot on your own, then take him. If you're someone who needs a reason to study, like homework, then don't take him.

So I gave a "High" for textbook use, because he uses it for his tests. His lectures are full of skepticism over history, and a lot of non-conventional teaching method used.

Doc A is a really cute and sweet old guy! He left us candy canes on our desk for the final! He really knows Chemistry but is hard to understand at times. Sends out "last year's test" to study from, but actual test is much harder. Willing to give extra help and answer questions in class. Drops your lowest quiz, worst grade possible on final is 50%.
Doc A is one of the funniest chem teachers here in his own sort of way. Kind of disorganized, but he is helpful and not too hard. If you're thinking of being a chemistry major I wouldn't recommend taking him, but if you just wanna take this chem class than I'd definitely take Doc A.
He is cute like a grandpa, but lessons are often unclear and he skips steps in explaining how to solve problems in class. Often his math is off. Very unorganized, often skipping around in the notes. He often leaves his students confused...like me.
He is the worst professor I have ever had at Creighton. Compares everything to drinking or sex and makes his tests very unreasonable. He is horrible and not understanding if you go in to talk to him.
Going to class is a drag. He doesn't care about student progress and is too worried about regurgitating material on exams. His lectures are totally worthless and tests cover an extreme amount of material. Unreasonable. Avoid him. Take any other history prof except him and Jackman.
good teacher
Anderson was good. I hate history and his class was very interesting. He doesn't really test much over lecture stuff, but he'll give you a study guide that tells you what you need to know from the book for tests. He tells you the format of the tests so you know exactly what to expect. I would recommend it if you don't like history normally.
His tests weren't too bad. He is hilarious!
Grandpa seriously needs to get with it. Gives a printout of example problems to follow along with in class, but thats how he teaches--through examples. Best deal is the final: take a national final and he takes your %, adds 100, then divides by 2. He recommends all of the problems in a section, but doesnt choose good ones. Take him if you have to.
Awesome teacher. Gives you exactly what you need to study for exam. You can talk to him about concerns and he will work with you. Dont waste time reading chapters rather look up the stuff from the study guide in the book. Tells you exactly what you need to study and relates history to our everyday lives. Not concerned with dates, places, and t
I really have no idea how this guy is still teaching at Creighton. He wastes about 75% of class time telling you about how **** he got the night before, or telling you stories about how **** he got in Mexico once. He spins conspiracy theories instead of teaching history and couldn't care less about your progress.
Doc A is great! He has a great sense of humor, a unique way of explaining things, and is very encouraging! He is willing to help with questions and stop to clarify any part of the lessons. There aren't any assignments to turn in, but if you do them on your own and ask any questions you should be set! And tests are only one page, front and back!
He likes to "stick it to the man" and teach his own way, he really likes to teach in his own words.
Pretty easy class with the basics from CHM 203. He's always willing to answer questions in class or during office hours--take advantage of that. Tests aren't hard, gives partial credit which helps a LOT. Curves the final so it's easier to do well. A funny old man who loves chemistry! I loved Doc A (I had him for both semesters of Gen Chem).
Dr. A is a good professor. His tests are only one page, front and back. He really wants you to understand the material and is more than willing to help u. He can be a little confusing at times. Study the previous years tests, the problems are very similar year to year.
Lectures are usually clear and easy to follow. Tests are not too bad, and the final is a standardized test so it's a little easier. He's also pretty funny and helpful.
ARGH! That's pretty much what I felt the entire semester. If you can teach yourself Chemistry, this is the class for you. He was extremely unclear and jumped around like crazy. He also made A LOT of small errors which was very annoying. It's sad that such a sweet guy can be such a bad professor...
Dr. Anderson's tests are generally just one page long and really straight-forward. A lot of problems are from the book. That's all the class grade is: tests. 4 tests, 1 Final. He's a lot better than people let on and he's really nice!
Dr.Anderson is such a cute little old man! so sweet, always willing to help you- however, he is a horrible teacher. Hard to understand, inconsistent and just not very good at explaining. It seems like he's about to fall off his perch soon :( he's just too old to be teaching anymore
For someone who doesn't like history, Anderson makes it very interesting. His grading for papers is easy although I thought the tests were somewhat difficult.
Test are EXTREMELY straightforward. No trick problems. If you know how to do his packets, which are pretty easy, you will do great on the tests. Four tests and the final. If you stay on top of the work (which isn't too bad), this class is not hard!!
Good class. I would highly recommend him for non-Western world. Makes it very interesting. Also, some days he let us go very early! Gives you what you need to know for the test. Multiple choice can be confusing though. Overall, quality class.
Dr. Anderson's class was easy. Do the packets if you need help. I only did the practice test the night before the real test and I always did good. He is really funny too, so going to class isn't dreadful.
Sweet personality but horribly inconsistent teaching (too old??). Makes frequent mistakes in class and on practice worksheets. Tests (~4) and quizzes are incredibly easy and mimic practice worksheets/tests exactly. Take only if you can teach yourself chemistry.
Go to class and take notes and the class is cake. He knows most people at Creighton aren't history majors, but still makes lecture interesting. Study Guide for tests. One take home test. Great professor with real world experience (plus, he's fun to look at too).
He is very nice and organized. I recommend doing the homework even though you don't have to turn it in. He is very willing to help you if you are struggling and he makes up his own tests and final. He also is in charge of his own chem lab which is really nice.
Nice guy, hard grader. I got the same grade on all the essays. I took as night class and it was interesting.
Dr. Anderson was the most difficult teacher I had. His tests were almost impossible if you didn't do the readings which were almost uncompleted. Nice guy but don't take if you are premed.
Mike expects you to know everything on your own.
Dr. Anderson is adorable, like a small gnome. I understood the material really well, but some of my friends had difficulty. He does go quickly and doesn't do many demonstrations. He is very willing to answer questions,
He can be confusing, and will often mix up numbers so if you're not following along, it can be hard to know what's going on. But it is an easy class if you do the work.
He is the cutest little old man! He's very sweet and always willing to answer questions. The class is fairly easy but pay attention to quiz dates. Not doing well on one quiz may determine whether your final grade is a B+ or A, like in my case. However, it's not a hard class.
Favorite professor at Creighton. Do the packets he gives out. Everything on the tests is in the packets and on the notes. Gotta love Doc A!
Anderson is great honestly my favorite teacher hands down, tests are hard and there are a lot of quizzes but the kids who took AP chem did great almost 100% in the class for most of them. I did not and he still helped me, he tells you to go in for office hours and do!! He is great I love him and wish I could have him for my other classes
He is very knowledgeable about his subject. He loves HIS prior students. Will cover material. Expects you to know prior information. Rambles. Do his examples, but they lack details if your extremely detailed. Packets are the exam, but requires you to work hard. I would never take him again. The class is difficult. work with your peers
He knows and loves to teach chem., but if you don't get something after he explains it to you 1-1, he doesn't help that much. Also, he has some students who he likes, based on how well you do and participation. Make sure you don't look like you don't know the material. 2 quizzes per week. Tests: based on packets and doable but LOTS of problems!
If you took AP or IB HL chem, you're fine. If not, DONT take. Not helpful, rude, favoritism, many test problems, confusing lectures , etc. You'll have him for lab too and HIS LAB HAS EVERYTHING TO DO WITH LECTURE. This is not normal for other labs, so if you drop lecture, good luck in doing well on lab final. Don't take if you're premed. Im premed
A continuation of the last review. He doesn't care if you have a 0 and is still gonna be nice to you. He's old school so sit in the front. Read book and DO HOMEWORK. Review HWs/notes before pop q's (2 a week) & tests. Do HWs again to prepare for tests and know the notes. Tests are the homework but a lot of problems on test. DON'T TAKE IF PREMED
I love Dr. Anderson. Sometimes class can get boring but if you pay attention to his jokes it'll be better. He sends worksheets out after every class. You don't have to do them, but they are very helpful. If you have questions on the homework he will go over them in class. He also sends out practice exams unlike other professors.
Dr. Anderson is lectures for most of class, and often puts students to sleep with his monotone/quiet voice. He knows his stuff, but if you don't understand, you're better off going to an attached tutor or an upperclassman for help. He will answer questions with a textbook answer and doesn't seem able to rephrase in an easier to understand way.
He has a very monotone voice and does not teach to the level of proficiency that the other teachers do. If you want to teach yourself, take this class; if not run away from it as fast as you can!
Dr. Anderson is like everyone's grandpa. He sometimes even refers to students as his grandchildren. I love him as a person but he is not the best at explaining things. I have to go to the tutor at least once a week to keep up with the class. He does warn you about his pop quizzes and his tests are pretty easy.
Doc A is a very knowledgeable professor and his class is very manageable. His practice tests he offers are 95% similar to the test and he goes it the class before the test, which is VERY helpful. I took AP Chem, which helped a lot, but what I have realized is that the grade you receive represents the effort you put into learning the material.
Anderson is the worst teacher I have ever had. He explains nothing. If you had AP Chem in high school, go you, if you did not its gonna be one wild ride for you. His practice tests are 100 times easier then his real tests so you think you got it until the real test is sitting in front of you. He also doesn't explain squat. Good Luck Charlie.
When taking Doc A be ready to teach yourself the material to yourself. He forgets to show work and does a lot of mental math. He also does not give a lot of feedback on exams. The most problematic is that he is getting too old to read his worksheets and makes many mistakes. He is also unreliable. If you are motivated you will do fine.
