For my class, if you showed up to lecture you'll pass all his quizzes and tests easy. He asks you specific questions about the material on the test during the lecture. He'd also hint to you it's going to be on the test, or that it is important information, so when he does this, just right it down or take a picture and you'll get an easy A.
Although his tests are quite easy if you show up to class and copy the brain checks, the homework is the real killer. He often doesn't make due dates clear and his guided reading are often wrong in canvas. these homework assignments have messed up questions or duplicate answers, causing you to have to lose points often for no reason.
Where do I start, this professor is AWFUL. He is very rude and blunt, will treat you like you are stupid and should already know EVERYTHING about the subject. His grading scale is awful, 50 question tests are heavy graded, but his 56+ question homework quizzes hardly even matter. Although his material is fairly easy, please just save yourself
Professor Anderson is very lecture heavy, his tests make absolutely no sense and rarely cover what he lectures.
Professor A is very blunt and talks to you like youre stupid. His assignments are very long and most of the time doesnt make sense. As a professor you should make sure your assignments make sense. Very horrible at answering emails, if you ask him something he picks and chooses what he would like to answer. I do not recommend taking him.
Professor Anderson has bad ratings on here, and honestly? I have no idea why. I was terrified to go into this class because of these reviews. He is amazing. He is thorough, caring, informative, and he makes sure you have all the tools to succeed. PAY ATTENTION to what he says and there is no way you'll get a bad grade in this class. Great guy.
Alright here's the tea. His class is easy.. Show up to class and write down the brain checks youll pass his in class quizzes and exams, study them. However, I do agree that his homework are rather long and the credit to work ratio is not worth it. You do have to put effort into it not a show up and pass class. More like show up with effort and pass
Professor Michael is knowledgeable, caring, and hilarious. Study his brain checks for quizzes, tests and you'll pass his class.
Mr. Anderson is one of the most interesting teachers Ive had in my life, and thats not a bad thing! Not only are his assignments easy, they are fun to do if you like Biology! Attendance is the biggest grade in his class, so make sure to show up! If you like biology, you will like this class, as everything is explained well, and easy to understand!
Biology is not a good subject for me. This class made it easy to understand with real world examples, text book is needed but class lectures were fun and very knowledgeable. I would definitely take a class with Anderson again.
Mr. Anderson is a good professor. Attendance is huge, so don't miss class. His brain checks make a difference. Lectures contain quality information.
Biology has always been difficult for me since English is my second language. But professor Andreson made it easy for me to understand. He explains everything so well. If you pay attention in class you will pass with a good grade. Don't expect to not pay attention and pass with an A. In other words GREAT PROFESSOR.
Professor Anderson lectures are amazing, clear and understanding, he explains well what is expected for the students. He doesn't take long to answer emails. Tests are not hard and not easy it all depends on you if you studied or not. He tells great and interesting stories. Great Professor!!
I am not a biology person; however, this class was not bad at all. There is quite a bit of reading. Professor Anderson makes it clear what is expected of the class so that you can succeed!! make sure to: WRITE DOWN HIS BRAIN CHECKS; they are on quizzes and exams, review your homework, and show up, participate, and put in the effort! :)
Mr. Anderson is one of the most engaging professors I've experienced. Not only are his assignments easy, but they are also pleasant to do if you enjoy Biology. There is quite a bit of reading. Professor Anderson makes it clear what is required of the class so that you can succeed and pass. Make sure to write down the brain checks as they helpful.
This professor has done a really great job at structuring his classes to really help out the students. He is very easy to reach and is always ready to help.
professor Anderson is awesome, as long as you show up to the class and show that you care he will work with you and guide you in the right direction with all of your questions. Reasonable with late work, tries his best to work with you.
Professor Anderson formats his class really well and incorporates a great balance between in class and out of class work with the lectures in particular giving a lot of useful and interesting real world information. Everything is clear in regards to what is expected of you to do well and if you put in the effort you will do well.
Professor Anderson is awesome hands down. There are many people who dont do the work, dont study and expect to slide through the class. This WILL NOT happen. If you show up to class, pay attention, read the chapters and do the online homework, he will give you every opportunity to do well. Brain checks test question! He wants to see you succeed.
Great teacher! Understands that kids are paying to be there. He also treats kids like adults. A great teacher and I have enjoyed my time with him.
This professor was pretty good. As long as you came to class and wrote notes, then you will pass every test and quiz. Homework is a little much sometimes, but it also helps with studying and understanding the course better.
Andersons Lectures are hands down one of the best, if not THE BEST. Very clear during lecture and at explaining. If you have any questions related to biology, Anderson is the one and is very professional on his work. A little test heavy but writing down the Brain Checks; exams are breeze. Overall, great professor and would take the class again.
This class was great! He creates the class for the student to succeed, but then you have to put in the work in order for success. Like, finish the homework on time and studying for the quizzes/ exams. Overall would take class again.
He's a great professor. Show up to class, write notes, especially the brain checks, and you will get an easy A. The online homework is filled with spelling mistakes and can be confusing, but the answers are in the textbook. He curved one of the "hard" exams for us.
Professor Anderson is a person that will help you pass his class, the only thing you need is to attend to class and write the brainchecks. His lectures really help. I would definitely take a class with him as a professor. A really good teacher.
As long as you complete your reading chapters, review your notes and study; you should pass.
Professor Anderson is a awesome everything he says and lecture is important. He makes each class super fun, if you have any questions he is always there to answer!!! I have told my friends to take him next semester. I will definitely take him again!!
I would absolutely take another class of Professor Anderson's. His lectures are clear and to the point and he interacts with the class and answers any and all questions.
The course is built to give students an opportunity to succeed even if their strengths as a student are not in science. Do the guided reading assignments (1-2 hrs/week max), show up for class (2.5-3 hrs/week max), and take good notes on the brain checks (he sometimes goes fast through these so be ready) and you’ll be fine.
Professor Anderson is one of a kind. If you don't show up, you'll lose out. His lectures are interesting and factual. Guided readings throughout the chapter help to retain the material and learn more efficiently. If you do not put in the effort to work or learn, you will not maintain a good grade.
Fascinating and very engaging lectures. Would recommend if you have to take biology.
Fascinating and engaging lectures. Would recommend if you need to take biology to go with professor Anderson.
Professor Anderson Is well a well-rounded instructor that turned a subject I initially dreaded taking into a class I looked forward to every week. would recommend.
I enjoyed the straight forward lectures. As long as you study the guided reading and brain checks, the quizzes and exams are very easy. Two minor issues was emailing him. It became very confusing and some directions weren't specific enough when it came to certain topics. Also not receiving any quizzes or exams back to know our negative feedbacks.
This professor creates very coherent lectures that are easy to follow. There are a lot of long quizzes/ guided readings on Canvas every week. There are also a lot of in class quizzes and exams. I took an in person test basically every other week. I very much preferred it this way because I always had the chance to correct a poor grade.
I would say Professor Anderson is great, if you don't understand something you need to let him know and he will break it down for you. The one thing I wish he would do is to give our quizzes back so we could see what we got wrong. You defiantly want to be in class to get the brain checks these are important and will be used on quizzes.
I would say Professor Anderson is great, If you get confused just let him know and he will break it down for you. The one thing I wish he would do is to give us our quizzes back, I would like to see what I got wrong so I can study off of that. You definitely want to pay attention to the brain checks they are very important.
I would say professor Anderson is barely "okay" at best. I find him unapproachable and really not clear on grading criteria, especially on the essay we have to write during the semester. His grading is very forgiving when it comes to how things are weighed. But overall class was extremely boring in my opinion and would have been better over a ZOOM.
Prof. Anderson was good and respectful. He was really not clear on the essay we have to do at the end during the semester but overall, he was good with the lectures. One thing I wish he would do is to give us our quizzes back and make sure you pay attention to his brain checks very important. I would recommend this professor.
I thought the lectures were very interesting. Come to class, write down brain checks, and study your guided reading quiz answers. He is also fast with putting in canvas grades which is nice. My only minor issue was that he was a bit unclear with the final essay directions. Even with that said, I would still recommend this class.
This professor was awesome and I would definetly take him again. Grades are super attendance heavy but as long as you particapate and come to class you'll do just fine. The brain checks are super awesome and give you a great idea of what to expect on all future exams.
Professor Anderson is a really great professor! He gives very in depth lectures which WILL help with the quizzes. Attendance is highly encouraged! Overall, classwork and tests are not hard as long as you do your part and study. Would take again!
Professor Anderson is pretty cool. I find him funny and easy to talk to/get in contact with. He responds back to emails pretty quickly and is willing to help whenever needed. Textbook readings are required for weekly assignments, so study time is definitely needed, but they are not too crazy. I would take his class again.
In my opinion, Professor Anderson has been a great professor. Tough grader but fair. He allows quite a bit of opportunity for graded assignments. Also, the peer reviewed paper we had to do wasn't totally overwhelming. He is easy to get along with and talk to. I would say really make sure to keep on top of your readings and you should be alright.
Prof Anderson was overall a pretty good professor. Make sure you pay attention to the brain checks because they are really helpful on the test. You definitely need your textbook for this class. Lots of opportunities to boost your grade. The only complaint I have is he does not always respond to emails in a timely manner.
Michael Anderson is a great professor. He makes sure you understand and elaborates on everything you might have questions about. During his lectures, he gives some questions that you might encounter in the future which makes it memorable and easier for the tests. There is lots of reading but is all worth it in the end. Definitely give him a shot!
Professor Anderson takes the scariness away from Biology. He breaks it down in a simple and understanding way and takes time to ensure everyone understands the content. Make sure you buy your textbook fast; brain checks will be super handy! Please make sure you write all of them down; trust me!
Prof Anderson is a very good prof when it comes to explaining things. He clearly has a passion for what he does & experience in the field. This class is extremely test-heavy, but if you show up to class and study the notes he gives you- you'll be fine. My complaint is that he doesn't give back tests or quizzes, very annoying for a test-heavy class.
You're expected to keep up, which shouldn't be surprising. His exam questions can be confusing at times, but as long as your notes are orderly and you've re-read the chapters on your own time to prepare, you'll be fine.
He was super understanding and let me make up some assignments I know other professors wouldn't have. He's great and made learning fun!
I took his EVR1001C course, and it wasn't very enjoyable. I'm not sure if it's because he doesn't enjoy EVR as much as BSC, but just be cautious. Lectures were extremely boring, you were better off staying at home and reading them yourself. Brain checks were somewhat helpful and the lab assignments are what made it bearable. He curves quiz grades.
The biology lectures are done in a fashion that keeps it from being boring. He interacts with the class and is easy to get along with. The guided readings are easy, and the information is relevant to the material on test and quizzes. The workload is two assignments per week.
Overall a good professor and he makes his lectures interesting. You can easily pass the class if you study hard! All homework, quizzes, and tests are passable if you review the course material and use his provided study guides. My only complaint is that the homework includes many typos, making it a little confusing to understand.
Professor Anderson is a easy taught professor who is pretty simple with the given material and tests given. He does the best job at making sure that each student passes if they truly care about the course. His tests are very likeable. He makes sure each tests contain material from everything stated within class. Overall a very likeable class.
He goes very vast, and it is very hard to understand the class in general. for an average student, he would be a really good teacher but for students who have a harder understanding of things, I wouldn't recommend
Great teacher and clear grader. The class consists of 1 homework assignment per chapter (19 total) and 1 research paper. Brain breaks are questions that he uses on tests (he goes over question and answer). Test are easy if you complete study guide. Overall chill teacher and classroom environment.
Biology is usually difficult for me, but he makes his lectures relatable and the content fairly easy. I will admit the amount of quizzes and tests was painful but they weren't hard. He speeds through lectures but definitely go to class because he sneaks in test questions/answers. I liked him, he's a fun guy!
I highly recommend taking professor Anderson if you have the opportunity! He makes understanding bio fun, entertaining, & easy. Coming from someone who struggled in all past bio classes. His lecture delivery is kind of in a story telling format which makes it easy to retain the information. Also, brain checks will save your life.
As long as you do the guided reading homework and take notes, you should be able to pass the class. Make sure you study the Brain Checks for quizzes and exams! Professor Anderson enjoys biology and likes to talk about his family. You will need to write a peer-reviewed paper at the end of the course.
Pretty easy class as long as you show up and pay attention.
Best professor I could have chosen for this class. He a professional in his career and truly cares for his students. Very funny and engaging. The guided readings were a bit long but never too difficult and in addition to his lectures, they were very easy to understand and learn from. The exams were clear and direct from the lecture slides.
He is a great teacher. His class is very easy as long as you pay attention. He gives really long tests and guided reading assignments but those are east as well. He is also very nice and funny.
Lots of information to remember would not recommend it if it takes longer for you to study, but the teacher is friendly overall.
The class was so amazing the fun fact, because it was a saturday class and it worked with my scheduled! I loved how he explained us everything that we learned on the textbook & it was also on the quizzes we took, although we did have a lot of test but it was the fact that he wanted us to learn and be prepared.
Professor Anderson was a great bio professor. Lectures were very straightforward (apart from frequent tangents) and grading was extremely fair. He also drops some of your lowest grades. Many different ways to learn if you struggle with bio. Pay attention to brain checks!!!
Very Straightforward with what he wants done and It all makes sense. Very easy going professor and knows what he's talking about.
If you are needing to take a science class, I highly suggest taking professor Anderson's class. His class is engaging and easy to keep up with.I took Enviromental science and Biology with him and both classes were easy to understand and it is because he knew how to explain the material extremely well.
Attendance isn't mandatory, but it's important to go. He goes through everything and breaks it down in a way that is easy to understand. The labs are fun to do. If something comes up and an assignment is missed, he is very understandable and will help you. He wants to help you to succeed- not drag you down and make your life miserable.
Professor Anderson is very helpful as long as you show interest in his class. His assignments were very helpful for quizzes and tests. I would take this class again.
Professor Anderson is great as long as you participate in the class lectures. The assigned assignments were helpful on quizzes and tests. He is among the most caring professors I have encountered while attending college.
I had him for two semesters and was a great teacher to take. His classes are easy as long as you listen during lectures and study. Make sure to pay attention on quizzes as they come up in exams. Labs are fun to do so you definitely won't be bored with that. He's easy on grading as he'll drop the lowest grade and curve exam grades at times too. c:
Very good professor, easy class. Definitely would take again.
Kind, funny, and knows a lot about many subjects. He shares interesting stories, and facts from around the world and the U.S., which makes learning enjoyable & intriguing. Being a family man adds a personal touch to his teaching. super cool & calm making it easy and fun to learn.
Conducted interesting lectures. Made it fun to learn and was understanding with assignments.
I would 100% take another class with him!
He is a good professor, his class is simple and straight forward. As long as you study for the tests, and show up you will pass the class. His lectures are also informative. I highly recommend for someone who is also starting out to take this course as well
The professor is easygoing, and not many assignments are given. Explains the material well, and quizzes and exams go with exactly what you were taught in class.
The labs were fun since we had the option to work in groups. The lectures are interesting and understandable. Exams and quizzes were challenging for me but there are other ways to earn credit in class to help boost your grade.
Very good professor, recommend taking any of his courses.
Great personality. Follow his instructions and you will succeed very easily. Do homework quizzes by reading chapters. Take the notes that he recommends and you cannot fail
He is a great professor. He truly cares, and he gives out brain checks during class, which are put in exams, so pay attention and study them.
Explains the material well. Bring up his own experience to keep the class more engaging. Overall great professor
Everything studied is always on the exams and there are never any loop holes to get you to fail. Overall, he works with you if any inconvenience happens and he does interesting lectures. If you do poor on the exams and tests there are other assignments that can help boost your grade. Highly recommend taking him for your first year in biology.
very enjoyable and straight forward lectures, Professor Anderson has lots of background and real-world experience that regularly get used as examples in class.
The moment he walked in and introduced himself, was a great moment because right there in that moment I knew I was going to have a great teacher. He is a really cool teacher and interacts with his students. He's not some robot that gives instructions on assignments and off you go.
Nice prof, class was easy. He goes over exam questions in the class. Book is mandatory for the homework. Had 4 exams, 2 or 3 quizzes, and one essay due towards the end of the semester that was easy.
The class was really easy, not too much hard work. He gives test answers in his lectures so it's important to show up for them.
The class is thought like you already know the material he doesn't slow down.Doesn't explain concepts very well you basically have to teach yourself. Most of his material is lazy copy paste. If you have a hard time learning or this professor is not for you. He is a nice person and overall a good teacher just not for everyone.
As long as you show up and do the homework he makes it fairly easy to pass. I've never been great at biology but he explains it in a digestible way. He's very down to Earth and understanding.
Very highly recomend! Professor Anderson makes this class super passable. Attendance is not mandatory for the full class time when tests/quizes are given. However, his lectures that follow will help you pass!
one of the most down to earth profs ive had. attendance is mandatory but he gives out exam answers during the lectures. reading checks every week, and throught the semester 4 exams a few quizzes and a short paper. pretty easy class as long as you pay attention and finish assignments.
This Professor cares about his students and helps them out in any way he can, and during his lectures, he uses real-life examples to help them understand
This class was overall a very nice experience; just do the reading and show up to most lectures; I would recommend it. The professor is engaging and funny and has made me even more curious about how our world works.
This professor enjoys teaching in a helpful way , and will answers the questions you might have about the topic , pretty easy as long you pay attention.
Professor Anderson was the BEST biology teacher I have ever had. He always lit up the room with his personality and was very outgoing. Not only was class exciting but he was very understanding when it came to missed assignments. I would definitely recommend taking a course with Professor Anderson.
Professor Anderson has a great Survey of Biology (BSC1005) course, He will explain all assignments, projects, modules that will be covered throughout the semester within the first day (Holds true to his syllabus). All individual work, no group projects, one HW assignment a week, Only one textbook necessary to buy or rent.
Professor Anderson was a decent professor for biology. Not my favorite, but there are plenty of opportunities to maintain a good grade in his class which is what I'd say matters most. There are frequent tests/quizzes, and the weekly guided readings fpr homework are up to 60 questions long.
This was an exceptional and thought-provoking class. I prefer lecture-heavy and he does not disappoint! He gives pertinent, easy-to-understand information and encourages class participation. If you are taking in-person classes, his "Brainchecks" are a must when studying for exams.
Amazing professor, the best tip I can give is to go to class and participate as he makes the lessons very easy to understand. The only real assignments were quizzes from lectures and exams, so make sure you pay attention and do good on those. Overall very simple course layout, but also teaches you a lot.
Great Professor, overall I would just recommend reading your book and participating in class his exams and quizzes are mostly on class material and book but mostly class so if you show up and participate its good.
Great professor overall, just have to pay attention in his lecture but learned alot
Mr. Anderson is a very easygoing professor that teaches the material in a lighthearted, easy to understand way. He helps you out when you have a question and is very chill and understanding.
Professor Anderson creates a very dynamic environment during class. His teaching strategy is fun, different, and active. I loved that he was always available to answer any question through canvas messages or email. Whenever there is a test, quiz exam, or assignment, I feel prepared enough, thanks to the tips and information shared by the Professor
Professor Anderson's class was one of my favorites this semester, his lectures are effective and keep you entertained so its easy to pay attention. He was can also sometimes be lenient when students need it.
Overall Super chill professor, very understanding as well. His assignments aren't too hard, most of it is just guided reading quizzes and he's not too harsh on grading. Would definitely take his class again!
Professor Anderson is very dedicated to what he teaches. He keeps his lectures interesting; if you go to a lecture, he gives away future exam questions. There's an assignment for every chapter, but they're easy to do if you do the reading/lectures. He also gives extra credit at the end of the semester.
Likes to teach and will help you with your questions, Great teacher.
He is a good easy going teacher. Gave out numerous opportunities for students to succeed. Exams are straightforward and get to the point. Just read the chapters and study. Reccomend getting the online book as there are study tools.
Professor Anderson was amazing; even though the class was long, it was an easy class. Exams and quizzes were exactly what he discussed in class, so take notes! There were 4 exams, a final exam and a paper, if you took the time to study your notes you should be able to pass the class with an A.
Easy going.
the class grade in mostly dependent on you since most of the answers are in the book for the class, but the quizzes are the only challenging part which he even provides little key point questions in the lectures for. So basically attendance in mandatory but if you do go it's highly beneficial and a lot easier.
He very a wonderful and funny professor and he gave us the best way to understand the information that matched the life examples that were included in the lecture, there was Guided Reading in every chapter, which was so helpful in understanding the chapters.
Pay attention, ask questions, read plus study hard.
awesome
Professor Anderson is funny when doing the lectures and also this class is very easy, if you pay attention in class, study, and do the guided reading homework you will definitely pass the class
This class is very easy if you pay attention during lectures, study, and do your guided reading homework. Doing these three things will definitely help you pass the class
His lectures were really interesting and all the brain checks were on your test/quiz so as long as you were there present in class then you should do amazing in the class. He does the lectures and talks and just makes class not boring.
He is an awesome professor, very understanding, and willing to teach. I never had a tough time because he explained things clearly and professionally, I would take his class again if I could.
this professor was amazing absolutely, hands down 10 out of 10 would recommend it to anyone looking to take biology this teacher is exceptional.
Professor Anderson was an awesome professor, very understanding and very integrated in his lectures.
I was recommended by another classmate to take Survey Biology and Lab with DR. Michael Anderson. Im glad I took my classmates advice. Dr. Anderson is a really caring professor, and wants his students to succeed and actually learn about Biology. He clearly goes over every chapter and provides excellent powerpoint that will help you pass your exams.
Easy going professor, stay present and take notes especially of brain checks to help you re
I took him for Biology lab, He is not caring at all, if you miss one day your grade will drop a letter grade and he will not let you make it up no matter the excuse. he is condescending and hate answering questions. He is very sarcastic. very bad attitude overall
Dr. Anderson is a very passionate professor and a very good teacher. However, if you don't attend lectures/labs, pay attention in class, or understand the topics…good luck! Every week prep for an exam. He doesn't care to speak to you much, so conversing with him will be minimal. Additionally, write down every BRAIN-CHECK! They are on exams.
Down to earth professor who's knowledgeable, helpful, and is willing to work with students if you have issues you are facing in or out of class. There's a lot of reading but it's well worth it because there are some trick questions that are on quizzes that only the textbook has the answer to. Prof Anderson, I'll miss taking your class.
Down to earth professor who's knowledgeable, helpful, and is willing to work with students if you have issues you are facing in or out of class. Professor Anderson is an outstanding professor with a deep passion for biology. His lectures are interesting and informative, and his lab classes are hands-on, which helps students understand the material better.
Not a bad professor at all. The tests are not hard and everything you need to know is provided for you.
He's chill just wish he would do lectures before exams instead of making us sit and wait for everyone to finish before he starts the lecture
This course was test heavy, and had minimal lecture. If you are expecting a visual in person class, prepare to teach yourself the material. Many times, we were not given lecture until after the quiz on the material. The quizzes and exams never show you what you got wrong, so there is no feedback for next time. Memorizing the brain checks are a must
know the brain checks
Professor Anderson is an easy and fair teacher . I took his class in person all Quizes are by paper but he gives practice quizzes to do at home . Lots of extra credit!
He brought his 5-year-old daughter in for the final exam; this was extremely distracting, with her running around, moving chairs, and making some sort of noise every 30 seconds. These reviews on RMP are for EXTRA CREDIT- you must show him what you wrote to receive the credit. Overall, this class was rough, and I mean ROUGH. Wouldn't recommend him.
He didn't do lectures. He gave us brain checks and we had to memorize them all just for the majority of them to not be on the final exam anyway. We had a quiz or exam every single week. No feedback on exams or quizzes. He even brought his daughter to the final two exams and she was super distracting. Just find another professor if you want to learn
All Mr.Anderson does is make us take tests in every class and then we have to wait for everyone to be done until he will preceded with the lecture. we have to know brain checks but besides that we get no feed back on what we got wrong on quizzes and exams. horrible and communicating. do not recommend this teacher.
Professor Anderson makes biology engaging with his lively lectures. The workload is reasonable if you stay on top of the readings and assignments. Unstuck study's practice questions were a huge help for exam prep.
