Bakst is an AMAZING teacher. He's funny, understanding, and really encourages questions & feedback. He does go through the material a bit fast, so I would recommend reading through the text and/or bringing the slides he uses to keep up with him. 2 take home exams, rather challenging though. I walked into this class because it was a required course, yet it was one of the most useful classes I've taken so far. He teaches you so much useful information that you'll be quoting for months. Amazing teacher.

Dr. B is an extremely enthusiastic professor. As a professional psychologist he is very well informed on his subject matter. He is also a prime example for physical fitness. Underneath his three piece suit, he conceals physique ripped with muscle, or so he says. :D

One of the best teachers ever, taking the class right now for fall 2010 year. Gives out homework. A topic from the website, two paragraphs on the topic due the next week during class. He dosent give out tests. He does give out a take home mid-term exam due after 2 weeks. He does show videos, gross pictures, he has a good sense of humor.

Easily one of the beat teachers I've ever had. I'm not a PSY major and he is fully aware that most people in the class aren't so he keeps it fun and simple. Final and midterm are extremely hard but that's why theyre take home. Easily recommend this teacher.

Love this teacher. I actually don't mind listening to him talk all class. Gives homework passes if you ask questions in class. I only did two homework assignments. Homework is assigned every week, just a short answer. Midterm and final are take home, long but not hard. I would love to take another one of his classes!

Dr B's class is the highlight of my T/Th schedule. His lecture is organized, concise, but has room for questions from the floor. Homeworks are pass/fail so don't stress over them. I'd advise taking advantage of his bagel brunch chat, where you met during his office hours & talk about the class. Be aware you may not get a bagel, though

This was definelty my favorite teacher in my first semester of college! He has a GREAT knowledge in the topics and can explain everything in detail. He's very helpful! You have one HW assignment each week, but it's easy! One group project, and a take home midterm and final. Going to miss his sense of humor! Reccommend it to anyone!

I loved Prof. Baskt. He was so helpful and knowledgeable. He gave plenty of opportunities to gain extra credit, so there was no need to really do the homework assignments. I recommend him for psych 101 for sure. His exams are take home and come directly from the textbook. In all honesty you don't even need to take notes. Love that guy:)

What you must know is that his grading consists of attendance (so you must attend class), weekly homework assignments based on the book (so you must read the book), a midterm, a final, and a group project. He gives out extra credit cards if you participate. This class is very easy to get through. Great professor; highly recommend!

This professor is beyond awesome. I had for 101 and loved it which is why I took 234. I strongly recommend him to everyone. He is funny yet knows his psychology. oh, and I should mention BOTH midterm and final are take home test

Excellent online class on mental illness. There was no textbook required, and all reading materials were provided online. The work consisted of postings on the discussion forum, 2 papers, and 3 tests. Highly recommended. Professor Bakst is an excellent professor, and you will learn a lot about mental illness from his class.

Absolutely spectacular- no professor I've ever had before him has come close to the true mastery he has of his field, & his ability to connect and relate to his students. He somehow manages to simultaneously encourage students, while challenge them intellectually. Not a particularly difficult class layout, but very effective. Highly reccomended!

You really learn alot about many things like: stress, relationships, emotions, the brain, etc. TAKE HIS CLASS! he makes the class a relaxed atmosphere, great class for freshmen. Although after a while his cheesy jokes get old but he means well by putting a smile on his students faces.

Assuming you show up for every class, read the book and turn in every homework, it's a smooth sailing A. Even a long three hour class wasn't terribly boring thanks to his humor, his slideshows have a bit of humor mixed in, and a few videos to keep you interested. Take this professor if you wanna do PSY 101, especially in the summer.

He makes the class very enjoyable and one is able to remember what he teaches due to his funny examples within his lectures.

BEST PSYCH PROFESSOR!! I wish I had taken all my psych classes with him; he is superb. He makes the class interesting. He also really takes the time and effort to help all of his students. Book is mandatory. There is a hw assignment every week from the book, a TAKE HOME midterm and a final, a group presentation, and attendance is mandatory.

He's the best. Super hilarious! Class is SOOO easy, just show up. We only have two tests, but it's take home so you can use your book and pass.

Nice guy but tries too hard to be funny relevant. (He's older) Attendance is pretty much Mandatory. Don't miss any more than 5 classes or you won't be able to get higher than a C no matter what you do. Weekly hwreading, 1 group presentation, & Mid-TermFinal are take home. Easy but made the mistake of taking him in the morning. Don't be late!

If you prefer lectures then he is the one to take. He is so clear and breaks things down to make it understandable. Super easy assignments. Just make sure to read the textbook, do the homework, take home mid-term and final, and do good on presentation and you will for sure get an 'A'. He knows what he is doing and what he is talking about.

Took psy before, didnt pass but retook it with Prof B. His lectures are memorable because he uses funny examples that we can relate to. You dont even notice the time flying by because youre enjoying the class. All you have to do is show up, do hw, take midterm, final and presentation project and your good! Definitely would recommend him!

Dr B, is an amazing instructor as a matter of fact he is so amazing that I took two of his classes. He is an expert in his field and man I swear he knows everything about everything. Haha.

If youre looking for an easy A he isnt the professor for you. All tests are take home and open book, but dont let that fool you!! If you utilize your book and print out the slides and bring them to class you'll pass. Missing more then 4 classes calls for an automatic C. I passed the class with a B+ because of missing 4 classes.

Extremely helpful professor in and out of the classroom, and always is willing to go the extra mile to make sure his students are feeling comfortable with the course material. Always follows the syllabus in both the 101 and 241 classes he teaches, 1010 would take again.

I took the 8 week online course! 3 quizzes on a few readings, no midterm with an optional final if you do badly on the three quizzes. 2 discussions on a topic related to the readings. Great class if you're very independent b/c there is little contact, but then again I never contacted him so it could be my own fault. Easy and interesting!!

Professor B is awesome! I took his class last spring semester. Glad I took his class, I was able to learn a lot about Psychology! Lectures are not boring at all. I remember that you can take the midterm and final exams home which is good, right? So better take his class! You'll never regret it.

Easy class! Professor Bakst is hilarious when it comes to lectures. The lectures are pretty long, but fun. There are 2 exams online. HW are on the textbook, so you must have a textbook in order to do your HW. HW are graded pass/fail bases. There is also a group presentation. EASY A!

Dr.B is hands down the best professor I have ever taken. He is very clear when lecturing, gives extra credit for participation or questions, and will be lenient about due dates and things if you talk to him. There is no textbook required, but he links PDF files that you are suppose to read for the week. It sucks that the turn in dates are different every week, it is not consistent so you really have to pay attention to the due dates.

Prof Bakst makes Psychology very easy to understand and is very engaging during his lectures. He is a fairly easy grader, and his criteria is very clear. You can tell that he is very passionate when he teaches as well. I have contemplated changing my major based on his class!

Show up to his lectures, you won't pass with higher than a C if you miss more than 5. Both the midterm and the final are online, open note, and open for 48 hours. One group powerpoint, only three slides required. Amazing!

GREATEST TEACHER EVER! Honestly, one of the most caring teachers I've ever met. He is so nice, open, hilarious and really loves what he does. He's cool very funny. Attendance is "mandatory" just sign in and leave early. Quizzes/Exams are online and the questions are easy to find in the textbook. The book goes for like 10 dollars on amazon or free pdf. He talks fast so dont even bother taking notes. Very cool guy lets you eat in class and is open to discussion if youre not annoying

Amazing professor. Very knowledgeable on the subjects he lectures and includes many puns. One page per question for homework, one group presentation, and midterm/final are both open book. Attendance is mandatory, but i cam promise you that you will want to go to his lectures instead. Lenient and cares about his students.

This class is easy, and the lectures are interesting, but I hated that he tried SO hard to be funny. I had a 95 percent, but my grade dropped to a B because I missed 2 lectures.

This is one of those classes where I didn't care at all about the subject, but came out of the class with a great appreciation of Psychology. Dr. Bakst is hilarious and entertaining, yet very educational with his humour. Homework assignments were very easy, and midterm and final are open note. Easy A. Mid and final are open book that really helps alot! One research project that you have to do as a group, ( In my opinion I think that's annoying. I'm still taking this class, I was going through hard times when I start taking this class like depression and anxiety and I learn a lot about it and how deal with it. Professor Michael is a great person. Is also a super interesting class you wont fall asleep. You will love it and you wont regret.

Professor Bakst is brilliant. His lectures are mind opening. There is homework every week, three questions based on the reading of the chapter. Two exams that are open book and are done on canvas. A group research presentation towards the end of the semester. It is very easy to earn an A if you do all the homework and do well on the both exams.

Had his summer Psy101 class and it was great! Purpose of the class was not to test/trick you, but to foster an interest in psychology. He makes typical corny professor jokes, but is very knowledgeable in his field since he's a retired clinical psychologist. Homework every day due the next week, both midterm and final were open note + online.

First of all, he's HILARIOUS. His class is amazing, and you can tell he's extremely knowledgeable in his field. The midterm and final are online, not timed, and open book. One group project, about a dozen easy homework assignments, and gives out extra credit cards for participation. You cannot go wrong in choosing this professor.

He's very funny and likes to let students speak and ask questions. It's important to try and participate as you can get a lot of extra credit too. Weekly homework was simple and just two exams and a group project. I would not recommend skipping his class though and he does not accept late work.

DR Bakst is a great teacher. His lectures are interesting because he makes jokes during them. He gives extra credit by just participation, the credit helps at the end in case you are facing a failing grade. If Mr Bakst see that you are trying, he will show you love. 2 tests, 1 final, a group project and review homework assignments that are easy.

Michael is an amazing professor - his lectures are very informative and gives a greater understanding of what was said in the book as well as providing supplementary videos with his slides. He's very caring of his students and accommodates for any circumstance.

Very textbook heavy but he lets you use the textbook on tests and quizzes so the class is a breeze. His lectures were very good with plenty of videos and information laid out clearly. He also responded quickly and was understanding.

Doctor Bakst is a wonderful professor! He offers 10 extra credit opportunities worth 15 points (1000 word papers relating to that week's topic). He grades everything very quickly and leaves feedback too. This class was super interesting! Doctor Bakst is also a gem because he provides the textbook hehe. I wish I could've taken this class in person!

This class is very easy but it's more of teaching yourself. He does provide slides and the textbook in pdf's which was great but it would've been more helpful & I would have learned more if there were lectures. I think his class would probably be better in person. There's 3 quizzes, 2 exams, a semester paper, a mini essay plus lots of extra credit

He is an amazing professor with interesting lectures. All tests are open book and he offers lots of extra credit. He really cares about us and tries to make his class as easy as possible.

This was my all time favorite class! I mean it when I say that Professor Bakst is amazing at what he does. He makes psychology really interesting and easy to understand! I would 100% take him again. Easy work, assignment and test is online. Take him, take him, take him!!

I highly recommend taking doctor B! His lectures were interesting and he was pretty hilarious, and he is very accommodating. I literally forgot to take one of the exams and I still only need a 65 percent on the final to keep my A...

I really like Dr. Bakst as a professor, hes humorous and knowledgeable, but his class is super lecture heavy. You spend the entire class period on a lecture and thats it. You have very few assignments from the textbook and he posts his slides (which are just textbook chapter summaries) on canvas so you can skip class if you want. Overall good class

There were no lectures, just a few quizzes, a midterm, and the final. You're supposed to read every chapter independently. Doing the extra credit essays for each chapter is a handy way to ensure your grade if you don't do well on the quizzes or tests. The surplus of extra credit assignments is truly helpful to one's grade.

dr.b is awesome! this class is for fun, all the assignments are easy and you dont need to take notes. the group project you can choose almost any topic. the homework is a chapter review each week. the textbook you need for homework but not for midterm or final (notes wont help you on those either so youll have to use outside sources iykyk).

Totally underrated, Dr. Bakst has a passion for psychology and has many years of experience. If you're taking it as an elective, it's an easy class. If you're taking it as a requirement, you can get a lot of learning out of this class. He is focused on teaching over grading strictly. It is rare to find kind and passionate teachers. Take this class!

What a great teacher. Everyone said what I was thinking. He is funny and passionate. I learned a lot and felt like he cared about me as a person and a student. Very understanding and his tests were not that difficult. The hardest thing was the group presentation but he made us feel pretty comfortable.

I definitely recommend this teacher! I loved learning about psychology in his class as he talked about many real life examples and had a lot of experience in this profession. The homework is very manageable and his lectures are extremely informative and entertaining.

Dr. Bakst is an amazing professor and has such entertaining lectures. I haven't met an educator like him, and he really does care about his students. Also, the work is super manageable! I had to take this class as part of my degree plan, but this class honestly made me rethink my major because of how interesting his lectures were and his passion.

Professor Bakst is very funny! His class is quite enoyable and VERY easy to pass. He has a textbook that he provides a link for. He also doesn't start taking attendance until towards the end of the semester. I highly recommend taking his class, he is one of the best PSYCH professors.

This man was my lord and savior this semester. His class is super simple and laid out, he cares so much for students, and his lectures are incredibly easy to follow. PSY ended up being my easy A class, and I am eternally grateful for that. The textbook he gives a link to so don't worry about paying for it. If you can get his class, TAKE IT!

By far my favorite teacher I've ever had in my lifetime. He gives extra credit to those who participate in the discussion during class. He tries his best to make his class as enjoyable as possible. Dr. Bakst is one of my favorite teachers ever! He is a very approachable guy, so don't be intimidated to reach out! I took his class in-person over the summer and we had essay questions for almost every chapter, a midterm, final, and group project! I learned a lot in his class even though he made tons of funny remarks and dad jokes!

I genuinely can't express how awesome Professor Bakst is. He's such a sweet man, and his course is concise and understandable. If you have trouble with psychology, take him. He is more than willing to help, and he even provides the full textbook under the Modules tab. Some assignments open on Saturday and close on Sunday. Can't recommend enough. :)

Dr. Bakst is an amazing lecture giver and Psych professor. His lectures are entertaining and informing, and what is great is that all the slides are offered on Canvas. He also provides you with an online copy of the text book. His homework is easy, just a short response. Midterm + final + 2 quizzes (all online), and a semester paper. Great class.

Professor Baskt is an awesome professor and I truly appreciated the feedback he would give on essays. However, be aware that you have to read a chapter a week that's 30+ pages, and his exams are 50% of your final grade. His class is overwhelming at times, but he is a very nice guy.

I can't say enough of him, if you have the chance to take him TAKE IT. his classes are mostly lectures and videos with one group presentation but as long as you participate you would get full credits. He likes to make jokes during lectures which is a huge plus, I would def miss him.

His lectures are very fun, full of memes and educational videos. Best psychology professor I've ever had. The homework assignments are easy, as well as the tests. Only 1 group project is required, and he provides you with a free textbook, which is a plus.

An enjoyable professor who provides great feedback and will give you extra credit if your response is communicated well and shows critical thinking. Do beware that there are lengthy chapters to read each week, but you should still be able to answer the weekly prompts well if you focus on key parts. Exams were also lengthy but surprisingly simple.

Dr. B is such a wonderful professor to have. I enjoyed his lectures and you will always laugh in his class. Just do your best and put in the work and you can pass. We had journals(answering 1-3 questions about a chapter), 3 quizzes, 2 exams, and a presentation. Light work :)

I loved this professor! He had 2 Quizzes,1 group project a Mid Term test a Final Test, and Homework do at the end of each week (everything open book!!) he is the sweetest older man, and his lectures were very engaging. He takes any chance to make you laugh and really cares that you learn. If you put in the work this class should be an easy A!!

Dr. B is such a funny guy! I love his class, and he is very educated on the topic! There is one group project but it's easy and he grades each person individually. But there's like one assignment and one quiz like maybe every other week! Super easy class and honestly please take his class he is such a chill guy!

I didn't interact much with Professor Bakst since it was online, but I enjoyed his class. He's passionate and gives detailed feedback. Grading is clear in the syllabus. It's very reading-heavy with essays based on the chapters, quizzes, mid-term and final exam, and a semester paper you have all semester to work on. Overall, a great experience!

Mr. B is one of the best professors I've had so far. His lectures are fun and interesting and he gives the opportunity to earn extra credit if you participate during his lectures. He provides a pdf version of the textbook. Assignments are easy and there is 1 group presentation. Definitely choose Mr. B for psych 101.

Very little workload, and the professor has a sense of humor. The group presentation seems intimidating but as long as you show up and do your part you'll get a good grade.

I loved having Professor Bakst for online school this summer! For summer, we just had to write essays based on chapter readings. He was very lenient with grading and will even give you extra points if you write a well written paper. Maybe it was just my class, but he waived the last 2 chapter essays for my class and gave us full points for it!
