He is one of the best teachers i have had in a long time. He keeps the class fun and interesting. If you are going to take mythology, i STRONGLY suggest him.

Dr. Barnes is one of my favorite teachers at Mizzou. Take any classes that you can with him because it's just a lot of fun. He's easy going but very informative. The tests are hard but definitely doable...so is he!

if you pay attention to the things he says in class, the books are basically un-necessary. that just shows you what an excellent professor he is. as a first year student, i can say that he is definitely my favorite prof. so far.

He really loves what he does and it's more important to him that you learn and understand the material instead of just wanting to make it hard for his students. This is for the Honors Humanities Sequence, though, I've never had him in the actual classics department.

This was the best class I've ever taken in college. The stuff we learned about was interesting and we watched some of the movie Troy and The Simpson in class. The tests were easy and all of the test questions come directly from the notes. You dont even have to buy the book for the class if you dont want to because you dont use it. Great class!

He is a great speaker, and makes everything in the class so interesting, plus the quizzes are generally easy and the exams aren't too bad either. Besides that, he is fun as hell and a bunch of girls in the class have major crushes on him (myself included) because he is such a cool guy.

Prof. Barnes is fanastic. This class was easy and interesting. All of the notes are on power point, and all of the test questions are taken from these notes. He is a really cool guy, and likes to tell jokes. This course makes you want to go to class. He also gives attendance quizzes (randomly takes everyone's student number, and gives extra credit)

By far the best class I've taken and it's not even my major! Barnes was great! I had to miss a whole week for a funeral and he let me make up two tests, one because I was gone and another because he didn't think I would be ready. Everyone needs to take this class!

The class is very easy to pay attention to because Professor Barnes is so hot. I made sure to sit on the second row every day. The tests were easy, too. But don't think you don't have to study. It's different material but easy to remember.

Fantastic teacher! Keeps class entertaining and interesting. Tests are super easy if you have class notes to study. Don't need to read out of the book at all. Plus it helps that he has a captivating voice and is very attractive. It makes paying attention effortless!!

Hilarious teacher. Makes the lectures so interesting, you actually want to go to class. Tests are all multiple choice and fairly easy but you will learn later you actually know the info when you start talking about different myths. Reading is assigned, but you dont need to do it at all. Go to every class, enjoy, review your notes, get a 100.

I took 3750 and 1060 with Barns. Upper level classes require much more reading than 1060 but still a great teacher. Always interested in getting to know his students and helping when needed.

Took Barnes''s Classical Myth class my freshman year. Loved it so much I picked up a classical humanities minor. Everyone I''ve talked to so far that has a classical humanities major or minor did it because of THIS GUY. He''s great and I can''t wait to take more of his classes.

I can honestly say that I love this class, so much so that I'm really considering going on his study abroad trip to Greece this summer. Professor Barnes goes a great job of making the myths both exciting and humorous. I'd recommend his class for anyone looking for an interesting yet easy course.

Great professor with intriguing lectures. All you have to do is attend lecture and write notes from the screen verbatim and go over them a few times before an exam and you'll get an A on every exam. One of the best courses I have taken at Mizzou. You also learn where companies and products get their names and logos from by taking this class.

Michael Barnes is such an interesting guy - if you need an elective take this course! 1060 was all tests - 4 of them - and no final! Super easy tests too!

Recieved a 99% in Dr. Barnes classical humanities class. Look over the notes before each test for an hour and you'll be fine. He made the class interesting- I always looked forward to it! I highly recommend taking this course- it will help your GPA.

Dr. Barnes is the man. He's the big cheese for classics at Mizzou and knows his stuff. His lectures are really fun because he's such a good storyteller. You HAVE to go to class or get notes from someone else or you won't have anything for the exams. Which isn't a problem since his bellowing voice will and great storytelling will keep you into it.

He makes this class very interesting. It's almost like story time. Be sure to study for the tests though. Know the names of the characters in each of the stories and you should do pretty well. Although attendance isn't mandatory, getting the notes is crucial and he doesn't post them online. He even takes attendance for extra credit, sometimes.

I took Greek Mythology with Barnes and it was amazing. I had story time three times a week. If you paid attention in class, you passed, I didn't study once and I passed with an A. Also, the book isn't truly needed, but I enjoy reading it now that I know the basic myths. Loved it, favorite class so far. :)

Inspirational, he's so into this topic that it gets you pumped to go to class. If I could take this class over and over I definitely would. You won't really need to read your own book because he basically covers everything perfectly. There are some "in class assignments" every now and again, but he gives you the answer.

This was one of the best classes I've ever taken. I loved it so much that I took his Sports and Spectacles in the Ancient World class and his Greek and Roman Epic class. I would have taken Mythology with him if I hadn't already taken it. He's so helpful and fun and getting an A isn't hard if you study his power points. Very straightforward.

I actually got a C in this class. I'm not a great MC test taker, and mainly it was one test that killed me. With that being said, Barnes is a great dude. He truly loves his job and is so passionate. I would take this class again and recommend anyone that can do so as well. Wish I got a higher grade, but that's on me, not him.

You can tell he really loves what he does and his class was like a big story time session. This class is SO easy. His tests are verbatim the notes and there are no tricky questions. He also does attendance quizzes which are worth half a point. There's no reason to get less than a B in this class and the book is NOT NEEDED AT ALL. Save a few bucks!

If you show up to class consistently you should get an A and if you skip all the time you probably won't, he's also a really entertaining lecturer so there's no reason not to go.

Doctor barnes is a great professor who loves his work and truly cares about his students. He taught me intro Greek and then decided to go out of his way to make a new Greek class for me to take with him. He's really interesting and funny. Class with him will be very easy but you will also learn a lot.

Professor Barnes is probably one of my favorite professors at Mizzou. His lectures are so engaging that even if you wanted to multi-task and do other homework, you found it hard to because he would reel you into the inspiring lectures. He would also crack jokes a lot of the time. Probably the only class at Mizzou that I'll ever earn an A+ in.

He does not post the slides online, so there is no other way to get the material for the test. The test grades are the only grades for the class, but the tests are easy as long as you go to class.
