You only have lab once a week, but each time you will take a quiz and pre-quiz before class starts. Both are pretty easy if you complete the terms list for each week. Showing up is a must! He clearly explains everything and will answer any and all questions even if they don't have to do with the class.
Barton is not an approachable teacher. He is very sarcastic and does not respond well when you ask him questions. If you study the power points you'll do fine for the two quizzes every class. He makes his tests very difficult and is an obnoxiously tough grader. Overall, not a fan and I would recommend finding another teacher that cares.
Mr. Barton is tough but fair. He expects you to study hard but tells you exactly what will be on the exam. He is super helpful if you actually want to pass but won't waste his time if you don't care. He really knows his anatomy and has a fun personality. Would definitely recommend.
AHHHHHHH ): This class was a kick in the teeth. At first I felt like I was drowning but as the semester went on Professor Barton became easier to talk to. He seems rude at first but as you get to know him, he is a pretty good guy. This class was HARD! But if you study hard and ask a lot of questions you should do pretty good.
This class is hard. Don't expect an easy A. Professor Barton is a great teacher but you still have to put a lot of effort into his class. He is willing to help if you are willing to learn. He really knows his stuff, I recommend him, just know even though he is a good teacher, this is a hard class.
This is a challenging class. Do not expect to just walk in and get an A. Professor Barton is helpful, and wants you to do well. He is a challenging grader, but is fair. If you ask questions he is willing to help you and walk you through what you are struggling with. This is a tough course though.
Hes funny, good teacher, I enjoy the class, although it is hard, but it will be hard no matter who you have. Good tempered and nice.
He is super sassy, but a great teacher! He goes slower which allows students to have the opportunity to ask questions. He also uses great analogies to help the students understand things! This is a hard class, but as long as you listen to the lectures and study you will be fine! Highly recommend him!
Professor Barton, though administers tough tests, is very knowledgeable in the field of anatomy and physiology. I found it easy to relate to him and approach him with any questions I had. He also has highly useful tools for remember key structures or sides (right or left), which will greatly help during exams. I would highly recommend him for A&P
Out of the three Anatomy classes i've taken over the years. His was the best, study every week for the weekly quizzes because they will eventually hurt your grade! I aced his final, but that wasn't enough.
Professor Barton is a good teacher. The class itself is a tough one, so you need to study. I wish I would have taken more time studying the weekly prelabs because that eventually hurt my grade. My advice: stay the whole time because then he is more willing to answer questions (most students have left at this point).
The worst professor I have ever had. Quite intimidating. Class is very rushed and explanations are poor. Does not genuinely care about students and their learning. Students always felt ill prepared for quizzes and exams. Would not recommend. Skip if you can.
Amazing professor! Clear and interesting lectures, doesn't just read from the powerpoints..
He's clear, he knows his stuff forwards and backwards and he's helpful. If you put in the work, you'll get the grade.
I really like him as a person and he always kept class interesting. However, i often felt unprepared for his quizzes and exams, regardless of how long I studied. He would pin things or ask written questions on things he didn't discuss in class or barely mentioned, opposed to things we spent a lot of time talking about or things on our terms list.
Great Professor!! Explains things clearly and provides helpful stories and examples that help the info stick! Some of the other professors call him Eeyore because he's so laid back when he's teaching. Thanks Eeyore!:)
Worst professor I have ever had!!!!Very unclear on what criteria is needed to pass. Very difficult to meet his specific expectation.
He's an excellent teacher. Sometimes he goes fast but he makes the lectures easy to understand and as long as you take good notes you'll do great on the test. He loves what he does and that makes the class fun and you always understand the material. He loves to answer questions.
I had Barton for the lab portion of BIO-201, and could not stand him. He was dry and sarcastic, which seemed funny at first but became genuinely annoying when I realized he didn't have much genuine concern for his students (and insulted our futures as medical professionals). The lab is tough, but if you study your brains out you will pass.
He was a great teacher but the entire class was lecture. It is really helpful to read the textbook and go over all the notes before tests. His exams are difficult and you have to study! The only complaint I really had was that he was pretty monotone and got a little boring during lectures.
Worst Professor I have ever had! Extremely condescending towards students he doesnt like; which is all of them. He is terrible at communication and will expect you to write essays without giving instruction. You have from 12 midnight the day you have his class to learn all the material for his class, he will not give you more time.
Hes nice but was hard to follow along ! Work hard or you wont pass the class!
He gives really good examples that stick in your head. Be sure to attend the class to have a more specific and in-depth explanation about the powerpoint. He is very kind and always lets you know what is happening around school or reminds you that he is always there when needed. One of my favorite teachers to be honest.
201 Lecture He is really good at lecturing and pretty engaging. Class is tough. You get what you put into the class. Expect studying at least 9 hours a week if you want to pass.
Dr. Barton is a great professor! He knows what he's doing and is very knowledgeable. There is no reason to take it out on him if you're doing terrible in the class because the class is hard. Study. Study hard and know your stuff! He'll help you if you ask. Ask questions if you don't know it.
Barton was really helpful. This was my favorite class out of all my nursing classes. I learned a lot with him! (I'm not in nursing anymore, though).
I had Barton for Bio202 Lab and he was very nice and knows what he was talking about! If you don't know where things might be pinned on the cadavers then ask him and he will tell you! SUPER EASY!
He spends too much time on easy subjects, then rushes through harder ones!
Barton was my professor for BIO 202L and he made coming to class fun. He is a serious professor, but he made his lectures simple to understand. He can make the exams hard though, so always study!
Okay so at first, he started out very funny and relaxed and seemed to know his stuff. Then, it began to seem like he was just trying to get through his day. He does know the material very well, but he just does not explain it well enough. His IA's were able to explain some concepts better than he could. Don't take his class if you want to pass!
His class seemed cool the first two weeks after he became lazy and seemed like he was just trying to get through the day. He made it unclear of what we had to study for the exams. I highly recommend not taking him for lab.
Michael Barton, is a great teacher and won't waste your time in class. He is very clear on what you need to learn. The class isn't easy but that's the way it should be since you are going to school to retain the information. I recommend him as a teacher for anyone who is going into BIO-201L
Professor Barton is a really cool guy. He goes over every item in the lists, and when we started using the cadavers, he would always make sure that everyone was seeing and understanding it, and would explain every single muscle from the list. His tests are fair, and if you took your time studying at home and in class, you will have no problems.
Professor Barton is a solid teacher that strives to help students. He will tell you what is going to be exactly on the test and will give you terms and will go through them with the class that is why he is a tough grader. It may seem that he doesn't care if you pass or fail but he does and will work with you to keep you from failing his class.
He has no favorites when it comes to students. His grading is very cut and dry, which I respect. He is highly accessible.
Anatomy is going to be a hard class anyway but Mr. Barton has made it so much easier for me. I took his class for both semesters and feel that he is a really good choice. The majority of your grade goes to the three exams and the three quizzes so make sure you study hard. Don't skip or you'll miss so much. Take advantage of Explore More sessions!
At first he seemed to be two-dimensional, but as the semester progressed, he became more real and talkative to the class. He is straight forward, always clear with what he wanted and he knew what he was talking about. Honestly, I could not have wanted a better BIO202L instructor. He was always helpful.
Professor Barton is a great guy! He's knowledgable and straight to the point. He'll tell you exactly what you need to know for the exams and he isn't one to throw tricky questions! BIO201-L is a difficult course that requires a lot of repetition, and he was always willing to help-even if it meant repeating himself a hundred times! Highly recommend!
He gives great examples to help you remember the content. You only have this class once a week so do not miss it. He tells personal stories that will he you with the course. He has a mean looking face, but is VERY funny and nice!
I'm sure Professor Barton is a good teacher, but he doesn't know how to teach to people who are learning a concept for the first time. He goes too fast, teaches too broad, and uses terminology we haven't learned or will ever need for this level of class. He does an "exit ticket" at the end of every class for participation and lets class out late.
Here's the deal You need to show up for class and you need to read the book and study the power points. There are literally only 4 tests and everything else is participation. I had a couple other tough classes this semester and I let this one slip. I Wish I could've proved that I could've gotten an A. He's really a great teacher and does care.
Professor Barton was too broad. Not to discredit his knowledge, but I learned more at explore more sessions for anatomy lecture and also reading on my know. Read the textbook!!
One of my tougher classes. Only four tests and could make or break your grade. Start the study guides early you have questions to ask in class. He lectures all of the class.
I have prof barton for both BIO201L and BIO202L and I really liked him for both. He knows his stuff and once he warms up to you he is really easy to talk to. He is not easy for sure but he makes you know your stuff which is the whole point of taking anatomy and physiology. I would recommend him for both labs.
He was one of the best professors I have ever had at GCU. He spends the first part of class going over everything that we will need to know for that section then shows it on the cadavers. He always answers any questions and explains it very well. Also to add he is incredibly attractive, paying attention isn't hard. Just make sure you come to class
Professor Barton always looks angry, but he is kind. When class begins, he checks the homework and gives a quick lecture on what to expect for the upcoming weeks or exam. He points out everything you need to know on the cadavers before letting you practice identifying things on your own, and he walks around to help anyone who needs it.
Mr. Michael Barton, is just an overall amazing teacher and you can tell he loves his job. He gives excellent feedback and beings the class with the power points but only 20 minutes and spends the rest of the time on cadavers and explanations. He walks around during class if we have any questions and loves to have fun while learning AND smiles!!!!!
barton is a great professor. i have him this year for 201 lab and i really enjoy his class. he is clear about what you need to know, but the exams and quizzes arent easy, so get ready to study. he lectures and then lets us look at models for practice. he looks rmad all the time but hes actually really nice and funny so dont be intimidated.
quizes and exams are super hard and complicated. He rushes through everything
Lectures are straightforward, but sometimes he throws in some info that'll be on the exams yet the info can't be found in the powerpoints. He's chill and treats his students like adults (as you are). Without a doubt, I'd take another class from him.
He was the worst professor I've ever had in college. He talked down to his students and seemed like he really did not want to be there. His instruction was mediocre but what really made him the worst professor for me personally is his obvious lack of social skills. Made me feel very uncomfortable. 10/10 would not recommend.
Barton's class is super straightforward. He relies more on lecture and drawing than just repeating whats in the powerpoints. He makes us do work for participation but it honestly helps a lot. He is a super kind and caring dad-like figure. Easy to approach and very nice. We get out early most days.
Professor Barton is an amazing professor. He is straightforward and very detailed in his explanations. Honestly, I loved his classes because he made class interesting and taught us well. He can be very funny, too. I would definitely take him again and I recommend anyone else to take him, as well.
Professor Barton is a very knowledgeable instructor who cares for his students. He seems intimidating at first but getting to know him you realize he is a very fatherly figure who gives goofy ways to memorize the bones, muscle, etc. Going to his office hours to ask questions should be taken advantage of as this class isn't an easy A & is fast paced
He looked down on students and was often very rude. He didn't seem to care if students passed or not.
Professor Barton seemed really intimidating at first, but as the semester went on it was obvious he was super personable. He explains all of the anatomy terminology and does a good job at answering questions. The exams that he gives out were difficult at times because they are detailed. You will only excel if you study ahead of time.
I would say Barton is probably an average professor. He knows what he is talking about, but he doesn't do much to help you remember the things he lectured. Sometimes he can go too fast which is hard because this class is not easy. All you have to do though is ask him to slow down or clarify and he usually will. Dont slack off & start studying now.
Professor Barton is one of the best professors I've had here at GCU. I had him for Bio210 lab, and have him again this semester for 211 lab. He is straightforward on what you need to know for the quizzes and exams. He is always willing to answer your questions no matter how many times you repeat them. He is a great professor and person.
Barton is an awesome anatomy lab instructor! I took him for both my 210 and 211 labs and there was a reason I picked him back-to-back. He makes sure everyone is feeling comfortable before heading into big exams with review dates and provides many resources for studying. He also takes the time to learn your name which adds a real nice personal touch
He is the head of the department so he actually knows what is going on. He is funny and understanding and will explain in a different way if you don't understand the first time. Highly recommend taking him as he is one of the best instructors for this class. Also hi Professor Barton thank you for everything!
Barton is an average lab professor. Bio 202L has a lot of content to cover and he got the material across to us, but you would really need to take the time outside of class to study the in-depths of the lessons. Prepare yourself for the quizzes and exams as he just provides the basics, but asks for specifics.
This was my second course with Professor Barton. I have nothing but good things to say. He is so funny and super knowledgable. He makes you work for your grade but does his very best to explain all of the medical terms and anatomical locations. He tries to stuff you with all the knowledge he can impart. Amazing teacher for grad school prep!
He is rude for one. Dont bother asking questions from the study guide because he wont answer them. He tells you that you should have learned everything in lab and gives you PowerPoints and tells you to read to book. Not good at teaching. He just rambles.
Pretty hard class
Micheal Barton was not the teacher to have during the times of COVID. He will lecture on zoom and in class at the same time, leaving the kids on zoom having a very hard time hearing him. Study guides do not have anything to do with the tests. If you are very good at teaching yourself, then this is the class to be in.
He was kind of rude at the beginning of the semester, but he got better as the semester went on. He is very clear about what you need to know for quizzes and tests but you do need to study and put in the work for an A. Not a bad choice for lab.
Not a bad choice he tells you what you need to do to pass. Not easy. Didn't like him in the beginning of the semester but liked him at the end. It is very lecture heavy and you are only graded on participation and exams (like the other classes). He is very knowledgeable and but sometimes it can be confusing.
Barton talks very quick, and his class is very hard. He is not approachable, and he tends to make students feel bad if they ask questions that they are confused on. I n addition, you must be on time to class! If you study every single day for his class, you should do fine, but this is a very difficult course.
Professor Barton is a king. He is pretty tough at first, but is a great professor. He knows what hes talking about and doesnt judge you when you ask any type of question. Definitely would take his class again!! Prepare to do the work to get a good grade!
Professor Barton is an amazing teacher! I took him for both the lab and lecture of the BIO-210 course. He did an amazing job at answering questions and taught the class material in a very clear way. This was by far my favorite class that I have ever taken!
Professor Barton was great!! He was definitely one of my favorite professors I have had in college so far. This class is very intimidating because it is a lot of memorization, and you sometimes feel like you're drinking out of a fire hose. However, Barton makes this class super engaging and truly wants all of his students to succeed.
This class is graded off of 4 exams, and that's it. The exams are so information heavy, that even studying for days isn't enough sometimes. He also writes ridiculously long questions on the exams. He lectured well, but his class is just extremely hard
Barton was my favorite professor so far. He does his best to keep lecture (and lab) interesting while discussing a huge amount of information. Both lecture and lab are difficult classes and reading the textbook is a must. Barton is always available for office hours for help and genuinely cares for his students. I hope I can get him again later on.
Dr. Barton is a really good professor when it comes to letting you know the important things needed to pass the exams. The review guides are extremely helpful and are the only thing that made me pass the class. I hope I can have him again in the future.
Most of the grade (like 70%) is exams, so if you do bad on exams you fail. Passing means you have to pay attention during class (he elaborates on the slides in lots of detail) and taking notes on laptop is more helpful. He's funny and cares for the class. Gave us candy. Basically study a few hours a day and you will be good.
Professor Barton is a great professor, the class is test heavy but he gives you all the information you need to know to pass the tests. He goes in detail in lectures and encourages you to ask questions, I genuinely enjoy being in his lecture class. Attendance is mandatory you're going to want to be there for the lecture. Complete the study guides!!
He is a really nice teacher, but it is hard to keep up in his class. He constantly switches between slides. He skips ten slides and goes over this one slide and we need to know the entire PowerPoint. I go to the ACE center and do all of the review guides but it doesn't help. I work hard for everything and I have always gotten A's and B's.
A&P in general is hard and requires lots of studying, but Barton does a great job of telling students his expectations of what we should know. I liked his hands-on approach to the class, allowing students to spend most of the time becoming familiar with the topic. If there were any parts of the topic you needed help on, he was there to help.
A&P is hard in general but Barton helped it make it easier.
Prof. Barton is a great lab professor for A&P. He is always willing to answer questions and gives us tricks to memorize what we need to know for the tests. He can be seen as a little stern, but hell eventually warm up. Also, he puts in the effort to know your name. And, do your terms lists.
201 is hard no matter who you have, so be prepared to work.
Professor Barton is a kind individual and very knowledgable professor. His lectures felt like info was being spewed at us in contrast to my friends who had other BIO201 instructors who seemed to focus not only on the material, but also on preparing the students for tests. Barton is pleasant and funny, but you have to know all the material (4 exams)
Barton is the man! This class is tough and requires you to study every night but Barton is always super helpful and willing to answer any questions!
Barton was tough but this aint gonna be an easy class.
Barton is the kind of professor that will honest with you. If you know that you are sensitive or cannot take jokes/sarcasm, save yourself the frustration of taking Barton. He teaches very well and ensures that all his students know what is happening. However, he will not hold your hand, so do not expect this.
I honestly Love Barton I had him for both 210 and 211 Lab and he became a great mentor for my academic career! I will admit he is considered one of the harder lab teachers but I promise you he is worth it. You learn all the material so will that it will actually stay in your brain and help you in your later classes. 10/10 teacher!
I took Professor Barton for 210L and 211L. I do not regret taking him at all. He is great at explaining concepts and letting us know what we should know on the cadavers. His office hours are helpful and he is a great person to chat with. He can seem a little blunt and too straightforward at times, but eventually, he will open up to you.
Professor Barton, I have had the privilege of taking him for both of my anatomy terms. He is extremely knowledgeable in just about everything. Working hard was a must, but the reward and correlation able to be applied to life following, are worth it. He is extremely kind and encourages the best out of everyone.
Super good professor! Would recommend him, topic is difficult to understand but he makes it easy to remember
He know his stuff but is too fast on teaching along with expecting you to know it on the first try.
Barton is such a good professor! He has such good knowledge of human anatomy and explains it in a way that makes sense. He offers lots of good analogies and helps us remember the material. He does cold call but as long as you review the material before class you will be fine.
Amazing professor would take him again but barely any classwork and like no homework. Your only homework is to study for your exam. Tests are very hard too but as long as you study you'll manage.
Barton was an amazing teacher and was very knowledgeable. However, I feel lab is more on the student, as the majority of the "homework" is studying all the parts. You're given a terms list to act like a study guide and I highly recommend doing them because they really help. Also, make sure to study a lot and write out everything.
Professor Barton is incredible in teaching anatomy. His lectures can tend to get boring, however he explains everything you need to know for the exams. His lecturing acts more as a reinforcement than to be relied on 100%. Most of the workload would be studying the numerous powerpoints with the info that's going to appear on the current exam block.
Although he went fast sometimes, his teaching style was great and I really enjoyed the lab overall. Excited to take his 211 lab.
Barton was a great professor! He completely understands that this class is very hard to be thrown into via first semester, so that was very comforting to me. Lectures are fast but they have to be. You will spend most of your time studying for this class but it will be worth it. I found all his lectures very interesting.
Definitely pay attention to this professor's lectures because he tends to go more in-depth with the topics that are going to be on the exam. The only homework for this class was to study for exams. As long as you start studying before the week of the exam, you should be fine.
Professor Barton is amazing. He makes class interesting and always gave me a good laugh. I was excited to go to his class & he explains things so well I barely ever had to ask a question, but if you do he always helped no matter if it was a simple question or not. TAKE HIM AS A PROFESSOR!!
Barton is the best! Super great professor, always explained things well so that I could understand and I got over 95's on all his exams.
I loved having Professor Barton as my instructor. I really felt like I learned so much during the class which is rare for a lab. He makes you stay for the majority of the time but it's all so you can really study and learn so your outside time becomes less. Great guy and very fun if you like sarcasm and can take a joke. Highly recommend.
Barton is pretty young; very relaxed and has a simple and easily understandable class. The lab does have a lot of information to study but the terms lists are helpful and he answers questions very clearly. He also has a lot of available office hours and responds to messages fast. So long as you study what he gives you, you should be good!
This class is very difficult but this professor made it so much better than it could have been. His lectures were long and difficult, but he explained them very well and went over them so much it made more and more sense. He was willing to help and was very knowledgeable.
He is the head of the anatomy department. Exams were tough, questioned students on topics that were not in the powerpoints. I have heard amazing things about his lecture so I would probably take him for that BUT DO NOT TAKE FOR LAB!!!!
Professor Barton is great! He is great at explaining things and his presentations in lab helped a lot. He pushes students to do well and grades somewhat strictly, but it helped me to learn the material very well. He is also easy to reach in office hours! 10/10 recommend!
Honestly would not take him again, it was difficult to know what to specifically study for out of the numerous PowerPoints and slides given. Review guides were provided with each topic but were clearly outdated, long, and were partially material that are not on the exam. There are 4 exams only, no quizzes or homework which was nice.
Barton is great! He really cares about his students. He explains things well and uses stories so that you can really understand the concept. It is a difficult class, but Barton really makes sure you know about all the resources available for you to succeed!
He was very personable and engaging.
This is a great professor for lab. He is real with his students and wants them to succeed. There is a lot to learn and it is a very hard class, but he helps his students as much as possible. Covers everything in class that will be on the final exam and gives us ways to help us learn. Super nice guy too. Take him for lab if you want a good professor
This class was very difficult. There is a lot of information to get through in such little time, but Barton does well helping students learn the topics. There's still a lot of studying to do outside of class, so be prepared for that, but he tries to get through as much as he can. That also means he can go a little fast sometimes.
Barton is a really great professor! I would definitely take him again! While the class is very lecture and test heavy, Barton did well in explaining complicated processes and had a great sense of humor. I highly recommend him!
I enjoyed taking BIO-201 with Professor Barton, it is a challenging and demanding course but Professor Barton definitely made it much easier to understand through his lectures through the examples he would use in lecture to help explain the topic. I ended with a 100% in the class all thanks to Professor Barton's extraordinary teaching.
He is a pretty good professor the class is just hard. You need to study a lot and if you have SDS accommodation I recommend using it to take the tests outside of class, it was very helpful for me.
Professor Barton is a great professor for a difficult class. The only thing about him is for quizzes and test you have to know everything, if you don't know everything, you will probably miss multiple free-response questions. Otherwise, he is super knowledgeable in anatomy and does care about his students. Lastly, anatomy is hard. Go to the AMC!!
Professor Barton was an AMAZING prof. He seems intimidating but truly wants to see you succeed. He doesn't sugarcoat and is VERY straightforward forward which I appreciate. He is very knowledgeable and provides many great resources. LOOK AT THE REVIEW GUIDE. Answering those questions and putting them in Quizlet was what made me successful on tests.
Dr. Barton was amazing for lecture. He simplified the topics to make them understandable and also gave good ideas on how to remember things. Definitely take him!
He was a good teacher. He is accessible outside of class and answers all questions.
Barton is very accessible and truly cares about his students. If you attend lectures, take notes, and do his review guides you will be fine. Tests are very true to what is on the slides. The content is hard, but if you learn the concepts before class and come in to him explaining and providing examples you will thrive.
I really enjoyed professor Barton's lecture and lab for bio-210. He always gives ways to make the lecture content easier to understand since there is a lot to remember. Being content heavy, I appreciated the reviewing he did at the beginning of most class periods. Overall, I understood so much from his teaching in lecture and lab!
Professor Barton was one of the best professors I have had. He made lectures easy to understand. I had him for Bio-211 and the tests were easy. Just pay attention during lectures and you will do great on the test! I would 100% recommend him and take him again.
Honestly, a lot of pre-med students know to stay clear from Barton. He is knowledgeable, but he just blurts out information and expects students to pick up on it. He is also an extremely harsh grader, meaning spelling counts. His arrogance alone is enough to ward me off. Don't take him if you want to actually enjoy the class and succeed.
This professor is a wonderful professor, I would take all my bio classes with him if I could. Well at explaining as long as you listen and ask questions. Very nice and will take his time to make sure you understand the lesson.
Professor Barton was an excellent Human Anatomy and Physiology instructor! Participation is mandatory, but the lectures usually don't get boring like some other classes. He always reviews the information learned in the last class which is so helpful! I would definitely recommend taking his class for Bio 201 lecture.
Wonderful professor, one of the best I've had at GCU. He is available outside of class for any questions you may have. He is very good at creating analogies for different processes in the body so they are easier to understand. He is very knowledgeable about what he is teaching and is very engaging. I looked forward to this class every day.
Professor Barton is a great professor when you take his class you will learn the material. The only downside is that his tests are more on the challenging side due to the more difficult nature of his questions compared to other professors. His lectures are funny, and he is very knowledgeable about anatomy. I would recommend him!
He's a great guy, like good at heart. But the class is hard, not his fault. It goes through lectures at a good pace but it is still difficult to catch up once you fall behind through a rabbit hole. Work hard in this class, seriously. If you put in the work, blessings do come!
Mr. Barton is a great professor, I recommend him! The course is difficult (it is no matter what). He does well at explaining things during lectures, making the material easier to understand. He also grades quickly. There is no homework, so the course is very test-heavy. But it's nice not having to worry about anything besides studying for tests.
For my first nursing lecture he did a great job, he tells you important things you need to know for the exams and makes sure you're always prepared. He is funny and makes the lectures engaging and I enjoy learning from him! If you have the ability to take him definitely sign up.
Professor Barton is incredibly understanding and kind—truly one of the best professors at GCU. His teaching style is amazing. He has an exceptional depth of knowledge and is able to break down complex, difficult concepts into simple, easy-to-understand information. I'm consistently impressed by how much he knows. I would highly recommend him.
Barton is a great professor who truly cares about student success. The course is challenging, but he provides excellent resources and support. Attending lectures, using the review guides, and trying Unstuck study for study prep are key to thriving in this class.
Professor Barton was an amazing professor and I learned so much from his lectures. He incorporated a ton of class discussion and welcomed students asking questions which was so helpful for gaining a comprehensive knowledge of the subjects instead of just memorizing the facts. There was never any homework and the exams were very straightforward.
Mr. Barton is easily the best BIO-201 teacher. I have friends who took other BIO-201 professors, and their content/ teaching styles are so much more confusing from what I can tell. All the concepts he taught were literally so easy to understand. With minimal studying I still did well in the class. The tests are easy and all multiple choice.
Professor Barton is one of the kindest people I've ever met. He cares about his students' success and is always patient. For anyone taking Human Anatomy and Physiology, I highly recommend him. If you're planning to attend GCU and need to take AP, I honestly believe it's not worth the experience without him as your instructor.
Barton is great, he is always willing to help with both lecture and lab material and has many office hours. He will always review your quizzes with you before the exam which is also super helpful. Each class he has a great lecture and then wraps up with preparing for the test and identification questions which is awesome.
I LOVE Professor Barton. He genuinely wants all his students to succeed. You definitely get out of this class what you put in. He has his IA hold review sessions before each exam. He has office hours. He has an RBF, but he's not actually mad. His exams will definitely test if you know the material, but he makes them fun by adding in Jokes.
He explains anatomy very well, and this class definitely requires attention outside of class, but that is the coursework. He does take a while to get through PowerPoints, but it helps you to really understand.
Barton has been my favorite professor at GCU. His class isn't easy but if you put in the effort to learn the concepts the tests are a breeze, and he cares about his students and their success.
Mr. Barton is a wonderful Professor. He classes aren't necessarily easy, but if you genuinely try, then you will be absolutely fine. His lectures are really good and full of useful information; most of the content on the test is covered in class, if not, then it's in the PowerPoints, which are always posted. The study guides are also super useful.
I absolutely loved BIO 210L! Professor Barton spends time going through terminology on the terms list & it's very important you complete these & HOLD ONTO THEM!! These are the terms that can show up on quizzes & exams! He will clarify any questions you may have, whether it's on the models or cadavers. Overall, he is a great professor.
He was really nice, covered anything you needed to know during lectures and wanted us to succeed.
Barton is the best professor I have ever had at GCU, I have taken him for multiple classes and he was the best lecturer that taught you exactly what you would need to know and to the depth you needed to know it for the exams. His exams were not necessarily easy however if you studied the material and payed attention in class you will do very well.
I had Professor Barton for both anatomy lecture and lab. While I did fail the lab, it had nothing to do with how he taught the class, rather my lack of studying and just in general how difficult anatomy and physiology is. Professor Barton is one of the best professors I have had at GCU and I would love to take one of his classes again.
I will be taking Professor Barton again! His lectures are very helpful in Anatomy 1 Lab and he only tests on what he teaches. He is very good about communicating what will be on Exams and Quizzes. He is also great to talk to and runs the AMC. The AMC was also extremely helpful!
While Barton is very nice and caring. he would be better off teaching higher level courses. he expects you to know A LOT of background info that's need to understand the concept even tho it's an entry anatomy class. do not recommend if you do not have a VERY strong anatomy background. and i mean VERY strong. it's a hard class and he made it harder
Fantastic professor. The only reason why his class is difficult is because A&P is not an easy course. A lot of lecturing and he will occasionally call on random students to answer a question. The question is easy if you were paying attention. He uses analogies and posts Kahoots that helped me greatly during exams!
Prof. Barton was awesome in the way he conducted his lectures, drawing diagrams on the board almost every class. It is difficult to get a high grade because your grade is dependent on almost all exams. Definitely read the book if you're having trouble, it's a great resource. If you get a good study group together the class should be easy.
Barton is a great professor. He is always more than willing to answer questions even if the questions aren't all that smart. He is a great professor to go to office hours for because he is great at explaining things 1 on 1.
