I love this teacher. He's very into the subject matter, which is fun, he's easy to joke around with, and is easy to follow. Since this course is a journalism class, if that's your major, you should love his class!!!

This guy is the man! Sure, he likes sports and polotics to the point of obsession, but who cares. The material is always interesting, and the work is on par with where it should be. Overall, i suggest him to any person takin a writing or journalism class. :Thumbsup: Mr. B

This class was definitely one that I actually enjoyed going to. The teacher is really funny and very very very opinionated. He totally made journalism interesting and I liked most of the assignments. If you need to take this class.. pick him! He's awesome!

Where do I start??? I was extremely lucky to have him as a professor. He is always fair and willing to help. He brings a sping to English. He is not your typical boring professor. I actually enjoyed going to his class. I got an A. Simply do the work and show up and you should have no problems!!! He's a swettie!!! i need him for Comp 2!

Mr.B is an amazing teacher! He gives help as long as your showing some effort, and the tests are extremely easy! As long as you go to class and pay attention, there is no way you can fail(and make sure to do the journals) Or if anything giving him coffee would always help!! If you have to take this class be sure to take him !!

first of all, professor berkowitz is a great teacher. he tells you exactly what he wants and its up to you to deliver! he makes class fun and relates to his students. dont take him for granted though, its college, do the work, or he'll fail you. def. take him if you can :)

This is a Great and very interesting Professor. He doesn't take bulls**t. The best part about him is the ways he teaches his class, he really gets involved and loves what he is doing. Thats why he is so good at it. About the grades he is cool too, but he doesn't care if he likes you or not if you don't do your work he WILL fail you. GREAT Prof.

He was pretty much everything I expected in an Comp class. Straightforward, loses track of the topic every day and isn't hard get in contact for help unless you're trying to e-mail him in which he's up late anyway. Highly recommended. Take him, do the work, show up and you'll pass.

very easy and extremely laid back. A lot of work however it easy like journals and textbook exercises, 5 papers and a research paper. Doesn't like proof reading your papers though. He's a die hard yankee and giant fan. We left class early to watch the games. We actually never stayed in class for the entire period. I would take him again. great prof

Nice young guy, he likes fight club alot, he is a harsh grader on the papers, kinda expects ppl to write papers as if u were a journalism major, classses are chill sometimes your there for an hour, his assignments are not hard at all, i would take him again.

This is not my first taking Prof. Berkwotiz however, this is the first time I've been disappointed with the way he teaches. If you don't like Politics then don't take his class. It gets annoying most of the time. He gives a reasonable amount of work.He gets annoying if you're late. He's really nosy and too sarcastic for my taste but he can be funny

Funny, laid back, and easy to play around with as a person. As for teaching,after a few weeks you'll keep hearing the same crap over & over again. Basiccaly: republicans should own the universe.I wouldn't take him because his topics suck and give me no motivation at all to actually do the work.

He is a very nice professor and likes to joke around. He grades your papers carefully and gives you constructive criticism. He does give out a nice amount of work but it's not too bad. Don't be late because he doesn't like it. Pay attention in class. Don't take his jokes too seriously. Does talk about politics but it's no biggy. Great overall.

He is a great professor, even though I did not pass his class I would definitely take his class again. He is a smart ass but he cares about his work and his students. As long as you do all of your work you will do just fine. He has opened my eyes to politics and I thank him for everything he has taught me.

I loved EBS last year with him and i loved Wrt101 with him this year. Writing 101 is different from EBS so don't expect it to be super easy. He's a tough grader but he's fair with his grades. He has one hell of a sense of humor & he loves sports!! He does give a lot of work but there's no final. Go to class, do your work, participate & you'll pass.

Best class I have ever taken at Bergen! He is one of the few people at bergen who actually know how to teach. Our class got along so well and even when some of us had trouble, he was always there to help. Can't say enough how awesome this class was. Taking his comp 2 class in the spring so you should definitely take one of his classes!

Want an easy class or a class where if you write an assignment the day of and still get an "A". Do not take him, but if you want a memtor and a teacher that cares about your writing take Professor B. He cares about his students and thier improvement. He will improve your writing while exposing you to great works.

The GREATEST Professor in world history. Very helpful,he makes it fun, but most of all you LEARN how to be a better writer. Professor Berkowitz makes Writing fun but do not come to this class with a slacker attitude. Be prepared to work hard and read a lot but the stories are interesting and insightful.

Professor B is awesome!!! He is very helpful, fun, funny, and knows his stuff. Tough grader but he teaches you a lot. When you are finished his class you will believe you are a great writer. He pushes you, but don't expect him to be too lenient. Do the work, and you will pass.

Professor Berkowitz will make you write a lot. If you are a weak writer, you will learn for fact how to do it. You will definitely see the improvement in your writing at the end of the semester. He is very particular with his coffee from Dunking Donuts. He loves the Giants and the Yankees. He will push you to do better everyday in his class.

Berkowitz is a tough grader. I wouldn't take his class to give yourself a chance to pass.

I signed up here just to write a review for Berk. Aside from the Dunkin, and the Jewish and the Star Wars/Giants mentions from everyone, he was a student at Bergen. And a horrible one. Which is why he's so tough on the current; he believes in his students. He will make you hate him, and then he'll make you love him. You'll learn to like school.

Expect to write and read a lot for his class but as long as you hand things in on time you are solid. There were weeks were we had several assignments due. He did assign a group project which wasn't very fun. My grade isn't a reflection of his teaching but more of my horrible habits as a student. Will probably take him for Comp II someday :)

Biggest piece of advice, DO YOUR ASSIGNMENTS ON TIME. I put more time into my Major-related course and ended up with 1 late essay and 3 late reaction papers. I still got a good grade, but it could have been an A if I stayed up later to finish on time. One final group project/presentation. Don't stress too much, but don't blow it off. Great teacher.

Prof. Berkowitz is a great professor. He is willing to work with you and long as you are putting in the effort. Attendance is mandatory to pass or you'll be lost without it. Also slight use of the textbook but you could use the one from the school library. He is a tough grader but overall a great teacher. Will be taking again next semester.

The summer class was fun to take, although really hard for most of the time. Lots of reading and daily 2-3 pages papers. He is really cool though and you will enjoy his class. He's a Star Wars fan and watched The Sopranos. A+ professor!!

Mr. Berkowitz is the type of professor that absolutely gets you to where you need to be & makes English not so boring. He is a tough grader, but that shouldn't scare you, because it only makes you a better writer. He actually stresses grammar which is what I love about him, because in high school they stopped teaching grammar. He's just amazing!

This professor is super down-to-earth. He is direct and not afraid of voicing his opinion. He is honest with the class about what he thinks and accepts the fact that everyone has an opinion. He does sometimes forget to post the homework, which is a plus for some...

The art of his teaching it is between classic and contemporary. His passion for English and Literature is passed on new generations. If you would like to learn how to write and to communicate with the most beautiful language in the world, I highly recommend to take a class with Professor Berkowitz. It is worth it.

This professor is actually awesome, he really wants you to work and he makes you a better writer. You will leave his class as a better writer. He also is very chill and entertaining as I was never bored in his class. I def recommend him if you wanna learn and improve. Only red flag for sure is that he is a TOUGH GRADER on essays. 1 essay per week!

He's a tough grader and disorganized, which he admits. If you're not a good/decent writer, you will struggle in his class; he'll point out the small things. He does give a lot of homework. Be prepared to write a lot of papers. Other than that, he's a really great guy. I didn't struggle too much because I love to write and he gave helpful feedback.

Was a great professor and has interesting topics during class. Most of the prompts were interesting however, it is a workload. If you are consistent and on top of essays it is an easy A. You will learn a lot about yourself and current events. Readings were great and so were the lectures. Class was a lot of fun. I took him for two of my writing classes. He can be a little arrogant, but he really teaches you how to write. Just dont miss the assignments or you will not pass. Overall i will recommend him to someone that actually wants to increase their writing skills. If you just want an easy A his class is not for you.

Prof. Berkowitz is the only english teacher I've had that has not only made the subject enjoyable to learn, but easy to understand as well. Going into his class I wasn't sure what to expect, but I ended up leaving with a higher appreciation for reading, and writing comprehension. Easily the best professor I have had. He cares about his job and makes the time for each individual student, adjusting the pace of the course to make sure everyone is on the same page. Enthusiastic, caring, funny. He talks a lot and just expects you to participate here and there. Classes are just a big discussion and can open your eyes.
