If you know the important stuff you can pull a C- on a test if you're lucky. VERY HARD TESTS, analytical thinking is applied to lectures. Lab is easy(Knauer) just answer Q's fully.

If you are transferring to UCI, definitely take 281/282. It's hard, but I write this review while sitting in on a Bio 99 lecture at UCI. The lecture right now is my monotone and in a giant hall of 400 disengaged students. At OCC you'll be sitting in a room of 30 at most and Bialecki actually teaches and answers questions instead of pure lecturing.

flipped classroom, so around an hour of lecture vids to watch before each class. iClicker ($16) questions each class and pearson (~$60) for hw. 4 exams, last one partially cumulative. content was easy to understand but got a little heavy for some exams. wouldn't recommend taking with a busier schedule. lab w him is straightforward/not bad

Bialecki does an excellent job at preparing you for difficult science classes by making you watch videos before lecture. Find time to watch them, they are super helpful. Homework was completely useless on exams. Lectures were great, and he gives many optional resources to improve your knowledge. He's very passionate and helpful. Good professor.

Last semester a family member of mine was in a near fatal accident right before midterms. For a week we didn't know if they were gonna make it, so i told him i had to miss a week. I explained what happened & gave proof of the accident. After saying it was ok & not to worry about class I was dropped that same week without notice for missing class.

He doesn't explain anything I took him last semester and you study on your own and you have a quiz every class and the tests are not related to what you do in class and he doesn't understand that stuff happen and puts you under so much pressure to the point that around 70% of the class dropped after midterm

I was scared to take this class due to the ratings, however it is clearly just students who touch the content once a month and blame the Professor for failing the class. He provides a ton of resources for the class and literally spells out how to get an A. He will take time to explain hard concepts to you if you JUST ask.

Avoid this professor if possible. For labs, he grades harshly and there isn't a clear rubric to tell you what is wrong vs not wrong. There's no in-class lectures, all based on online videos you have to watch before coming in. No study guides for exams, low exam average. I-Clicker every class, strict on attendance.

Uses a "flipped classroom" so you will have to watch videos and read the textbook before class. The lecture period is a short iclicker quiz and the rest of class time is wasted. Practice exam and actual exam are completely different and no exam outline is provided. No feedback on any classwork besides lab. Test average is 60% studying didn't help.

Flipped classroom(absolutely horrible). Studied my life away and it helped with absolutely nothing. No feedback or answer keys after exams so you'll never what you missed. Study guides were completely different than what appeared on the exams. Nice professor, horrible class setup and awful experience.

The worst professor I have had in my entire life. When you set up students to fail and not even guide them in the right direction of content appearing on the exam, it is completely unreasonable. We were given an in-person evaluation form, so I hope he reads those horrible reviews and changes for you poor souls in the future. Good luck.

This course feels like I was being castrated. 50-67% class averages on the exams, and there is no curve on any of them. No extra credit and no grade curving as well. He grades like all of his students singlehandedly killed his dog. His lectures consists of 15 min of rambling and1 hour and 30 of just iclicker.

He's actually not that bad if you know how to prep for his class, SO KNOW THIS!!! 1) WATCH HIS VIDEOS!!! You will NOT pass if you're not watching his videos before the lecture 2) Homework is useless, also no due date 3) Lab is an easy A (20% of your grade) He's actually pretty chill, just watch the videos, I swear it actually changed my grade
