There are certain things you have to do in this class. 1. NO CELLPHONES. 2. Read the material. If you don't you will pay. 3. Take notes. I've learned a computer is best, and he expects you to remember everything. He's very intense, but his passion for history shows, and if you do the work you'll enjoy the class. NOT an easy A.

I took Dr. Birdwell for History 2020. His tests are based half on long-winded lectures and half on a novel you're expected to read for his class. He chooses very new novels that have no sparknotes and are difficult to trudge through because they're written by historians who use tons of big and difficult words to even pronounce. Mike is a voracious reader. He reads more books in a year than most people will read in a lifetime. But most of what he reads is fiction, a lot of it historical fiction. All the history and fiction gets mixed up in his head, so some of the things he teaches are more of what he wants history to be, rather than what the facts indicate. Beware.
