this guy is a complete ****! and a horrible professor. his tests are ridiculous and nobody knows what he is talking about in class. if you cannot find another professor to take....dont take psych at all!!! DONT TAKE HIM!

do yourself a favor and NOT take this guy! I failed last semester and i never missed a class, took great notes and read the book. I could not have tried harder... so he rewarded me with a "F" I HATE HIM!!!!!! He does not deserve to be teaching! Someone lock him up!!!!

he is known for his research in decision making and i think he made a bad decision in his career path. he is extremely boring; he CAN'T teach!

I thought this class would be interesting, although we learned helpful information (how to do online experiments) it wasnt worth putting up with this horrible instructor. He turned the class into a decision making class! Would not recommend this teacher for any class, he is very very bad at teaching. The worst instructor I have ever had at CSUF!

I wish I would have heard of this website before I signed up for this guy's class. He was horrible. He did not stay on track and was impossible to follow. At all costs avoid this professor.

AWEFUL CLASS AND AN AWEFUL MAN. Everyday you have quizzes and homework, dont bother their only worth a total of 3 extra credit points. Nothing you review is on the exams, just prepare to fail. I passed with a C- maybe thats because he liked my name or felt bad for me. He failed my genius best friend. DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE!!!!!

By far the lamest class ever! It is so boring, I am never able to understand what he is trying to explain to us. We don't talk about psych at all, just statistics. I WAS a psych major, but he is making me reconsider.

I havent learned a thing in his class at all. I am so glad i changed my major before i arrived at this university because this guy really did make me recondiser. I would recommend never taking his course because you would regret it, i sure did. I hope i can still get out of at least getting credit from his class if possible.

chapters are mandatory because of daily quizzes but as far as the tests go it's quite useless. thought i was supposed to be taking intro to psych and felt like i was taking stats and genetics. only midterm and final but neither go by what's taught. felt uncomfortable cuz not a class went by without him making ****ed jokes, even on tests.

I've taken PSY 101 with another professor and regret not taking the class over again with that same proffesor. Birnbaum is boring and you can get easy lost in his lectures if you are not interested in majoring in psycology. He focuses TOO MUCH on STATISTICS and not enough on the BASICS of psycology, which is what psy 101 is!!!!!

Good luck if you have him. He is one if the most boring professors that i have ever had. you learn absolutely nothing in his class. his tests are extremely hard, barely passable. change if you can.

He is horrible!!! Class average was a D-. I had to retake psych. and it's not that hard. He just made it more difficult than it should be. Forget the fact that he is boring he just can't teach.

This professor is horrible! It was more of a math class than psych and he made it way too hard for a 101 class. The questions on his tests are very confusing and you have to re-read them 2-3 times just to understand it. He goes way to fast for students to keep up and the materials he teaches is useless and way outdated. PLEASE DONT TAKE HIM!!!

This professor is extremely monotone, and the lectures only help with the daily (attendance) quizzez. I found it helpful to follow along in the book when he is lecturing because it makes it easier to understand. Please believe these reviews he is one of the worst professor at CSUF. I decided to give him a chance anyways despite reading all these reviews and ended up getting a D in the class, which a majority of the class did. This class turned a great semester into a horrible one for me. Please don't take him, for your own sake.

very boring class, he expects you to read the book but the tests are mostly on the lectures which are very disorganized. It is hard to comprehend what he is saying. lots of statistics.

BELIEVE ME: WORST PROFESSOR CSUF. He has many sex jokes which are just awkward, and thinks his jokes are funny. I received a D in the class and so did most people in the class. STAY AWAY!!! Absolutely horrible teacher. Incredibly difficult to understand and nearly impossible to reach outside of the class room (i.e. email). Homework is relatively easy. The lectures are painfully borring and he fails completely to teach anything about psycology. I was very excited to take this class but was left extremely dissappointed.

Do not take this teacher! His starts talking like you already know what he's talking about and is NOT helpfull what-so-ever. Pick another teacher...seriously!!!

Worst professor ever, I didn't learn anything. Finals are hard and irrelevant to material taught in class.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. He does not help you outside of class and the notes do not connect with the homework. He lectures about things that are not on the test and he makes you take a QUIZ every class. He has homework due every class and he NEVER returns it back to you. So, you never know where your grade stands, even when you ask him.

I read over 10 hours on the book when studying for the first midterm. I ended up getting an F, but everyone did so bad that my midterm was actually a D. His exams are pretty much irrelevant from the book and mainly on his lecture. He's quite boring but try to stay awake. No food allowed, electronics, etc. goodluck.

Grade is based off midterm and final. Did not understand his lectures, very confusing. He would go off topic often. I definitely do not recommend.

Stay away from this professor! Gives out quizzes every class and once you turn in homework/quizzes, you never see them again. Totally unhelpful and goes off topic a lot. Just take good notes and read the material for an average grade. Also, do the psychology experiment requirement online as soon as possible (they're basically online surveys)

I came in this class with a bright mind and ready to learn about my major (psychology) I had previously read the reviews here but I never paid attention to them because I thought they were silly. I was wrong. This professor is the WORST. Lectures are all over the place and grade is based off midterm/final. I ended up changing majors because of him.

DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. This is the first class I've ever had to retake. Much of the lectures didn't seem like they had to do with Psychology. He only writes on the whiteboard which makes class very boring. There's quizzes and lots of homework every class. Must keep up with readings. Exams are difficult and straight from the readings.

His dry humor was the only thing i liked about this class. His class was intersting but he did not specify what was important, it was very difficult and i ended up failing i retook it with another professor and passed. i felt like his exams were nothing we really went over in class

This class by itself is interesting but when I unfortunately took his class I lost interest in this subject. His lectures were filled with complete bull. His lectures were boring, confusing, and he would never give back quizzes or homework. He never went over what you needed to know for the midterm or final. Avoid if possible. Worst teacher ever.

Without a doubt, this is the worst class I have ever taken. He never gives back assignments, gives no feedback on where you stand in the class, the lectures are unorganized and completely unhelpful. I"m completely considering dropping the class because it is literally that bad.

Uses the same materials every semester so all the reviews from below are still valid. Gives plenty of homework and quizzes every day. None of them are graded or will ever be passed back. Does not provide a study guide even if there are only 50 questions, so instead he tells you to study EVERYTHING. Redicilous amount of stats for a Psych 101. AVOID!

I don't know what he's talking about most of the time. He doesn't give feedback on homework or quizzes. His lecturing style doesn't help you prepare for any of the exams. I'm pretty sure majority of the students in his class didn't know what was going on. He just kept rambling. He doesn't update the grades either. This was more of a math class.

This professir is terrible. Doesn't give homework or quizzes back. Whatever you end uo getting on the final will be your grade. Everything that was on the final "study guide" had nothing to do with the actual final. I definitely suggest avoid taking this class.

Begins each class with a quiz & gives homework/reading assignments daily. Quizzes & homeworks don't get passed back & count as 3 points extra credit. Often goes on lengthy tangents that don't typically coincide with psychology topics. Does NOT post grades, so students are unaware of their progress in class. I do not recommend taking this professor.

He will quiz and assign homework/reading every class . The first ten minutes of class will be a quiz, then the rest of class he usually goes back and forth explaining the quiz and incorporating a new subject before he wraps up the previous topic. Very hard to follow if you do not go every single session! 2 tests + 5 hours of research participation

Theres too much terrible things to say about this class but take my advice and DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS AVOID AT ALL COSTS. I have taken a psych 101 class before in high school and this aint it chief. If i didnt take AP psychology I wouldve have never understood the material taught in class. There is a quiz everyday that you dont get back, homework everyday including videos that are up to 40min long, and unnecessary reading. Your grade is determined by the midterm and final and both cover absolutely nothing you learn in class.

Wish i could leave a -5 review. Acts like his class is your only one and gives about 10 assignments a week including HW videos/readings that have nothing to do with the class. Tests are completely irrelevant from the lectures and HW he gives yet your grade depends on them. Boring and literally useless lectures. He'll make you HATE psyc. DONT TAKE
