I take back what i said at the start of the semester. I really don't like his teaching style or his grading. How can one get a C+ when you get an A+ on the first paper, a **** C on the second paper and i know i didnt get an f on the last paper. and you get B's on both your in class essays? whateever. whats of my time.

He is awesome! Makes his subject interesting for people who aren't really into it, and just so much fun for people who are. He is easy to understand and to listen to, work isn't mind numbingly hard, and he is a super fair grader and an even super fair help with any questions you have. I most deffinitly recommend him!!!

Took 101 and 102 with him, best English professor in Suffolk period! He made a lover of Shakespeare out of me! Register early to get in his classes, they fill up quick for a reason! He literally tells you exactly what you need in your papers to pass. Follow his instructions well and you'll pass!

Really easy if you keep up with the readings. lets you revise your essay more than once, really helpful if you just ask him. took 101 and 102 with him and did alot better in 102 when I took the class seriously. 100 recommend you taking him if your looking for a good class. register quick for his classes they go by fast, and i can see why.

I didn't know what to expect from this class. Most of the students in it were lazy. I got a "C" on my fisrt paper, and the professor let's you revise. Gets upset with the class when they don't come prepared.

Dr. B rocks. Perhaps one of the best classes I have ever had. I will never look at a poem the same way again. Weekly reaction papers, 2 essays which you can revise for a better grade. If you put in the effort, you will get an "A."

I can't believe any1 would rate him less than great. I took lit & honors lit with him & he's excellent. He is not the easiest grader but he is not harsh, he's very fair. Even for those where eng doesn't come easily, he's very helpful & allows revision. This isn't 1st grade so he won't chase you but if you seek him he will go above & beyond to help!

I took lit and hnr lit with him and he is AWESOME! He really encourages your expression of ideas. He encourages class engagement which makes the class interesting. He encourages you to express you opinions and interpretations regardless of whether or not he shares them as long as you try to back them up & weekly journals make for @ least 1 easy A.

Nice guy. Can be a tough grader, but simply wants us to work. Allows revisions of major papers and gives a lot of feedback. Makes time for his students outside of class, but he is usually always busy. Got an A, but had to revise to get it. would take him again.

I overall enjoyed this class on logic and thinking. We had a nice diversity of books (Sherlock Holmes, Mystic River, Big Fish) and this is the best class I have ever taken at Suffolk. I feel that I am now a better writer and speaker. Wish I had taken this class sooner. Liked the chance to revise major papers, and liked the professor feedback.

Boech managed to keep class fun and interesting and bring Shakespeare to life. Dr. B also forced us to delve deeper into discussion topics and think harder to come up with complex answers. I'd written papers before, but never been graded so harshly. Revision was therefore quite helpful, but it certainly added to the workload. Learned lots/LOVE him.

Amazing professor! Somewhat of a harsh grader but it's his way of pushing you to expand your imagination and grow stronger as a writer. He always gives you a chance to revise your work and gives great advice on how to go about it. I recieved a C on my first paper and an A on my last. He taught me alot! Love love loved him.

Understanding, insightful, entertaining professor. Interested in building our skills so that when we leave we know how to get our ideas out. Literature was interesting, but the real treat was discussion and learning how to express myself. Put in the work, 'll do fine.

Professor B is a fair guy. He keeps his students' motivated by heaping lots of pressure on them. But he has a good heart and just wants them to use their minds to further excel at deciphering the English language.

I really enjoy the discussions, because it helps understand what is going on in the story when sometimes you can't understand what they are trying to say in the book. I cannot think of one thing I'd change about this class it has done nothing but provide me with insight to how people thought back in the day regarding gods, hell and religion.

He was very fair, as long as you did your work you will get a good grade. You have all semester to rewrite any papers you're not happy with. Besides there is also a free English tutoring program at SCCC

Really liked this class - looked forward to it every day because i liked talking about mythology and the history behind it. Cool class.

Took him over a summer, and really learned more than I thought I would. Three papers that we could revise for best grade possible. Gave clear comments. Was even quite funny at times, and you could tell he cared. Really good writing instructor.

This guy is saving me. I have been having trouble writing and we have met twice now to go over my major papers. Allowed me to hand in my first paper late, and encouraged me to keep trying. I am graduating this term, and he has been a huge help because I need this class. Seriously. Take him.

Really nice guy! Lets you revise your papers to get an A and keeps lectures interesting even during dry topics. Really thought this would kill my GPA and be my least favorite class but was pleasantly surprised and am now taking Shakespeare with him in the spring. Took him over over the summer. Thought it was going to be horrible com'mon ENGLISH eehh. But he made boring subject interesting very engaging and makes you understand and take apart the stories piece by piece in a way one might have never thought to. Allows you to rewrite papers for better grades after he gives you critiques on what to fix. Amazing!

Taking evening Shakespeare with him now, and - to my surprise - really enjoying it.

Boecherer is incredible! LOTS of readings and quite a few papers, which he lets you revise over and over until you have an A. He has a very dark humor, which makes class time VERY interesting and fun. Also if you can, go to his office hours! Even if you don't have a question about class, he's always down for just chatting with students!

Absolutely love this man! 2-3 Essays and lets you rewrite them as many times for a better grade. the class is super easy. can give in class essays The books are a must and the reading, he explains everything until he's blue in the face. He also has a sick sense of humor, he's very particular with grading but again lets you re write. GREAT TEACHER!

He was great! I liked how we would go over assignments in class so that we could have a clear understanding of what we had to do.

This was a really interesting class. I took it originally because it fit my schedule and got a requirement out of the way, but I am glad I took it. I learned a lot, and by the end I really began to enjoy Shakespeare. I could figure out the language, and I had fun. Boecherer changed my mind about this subject. I'd take him again.

Col sem is a very easy class in general. He is a good grader and if you write well and thoughtful he might even use one of ypur papers as two seperate grades. He's a very nice and funny man. You can reach him by email at anytime and he answers right away. I'd take him again if he taught a subject i had interest in. If you get the chance take him!

Very good professor who cares about his students.

I had Boecherer for my ENG 010 class and he did a very nice job with the course. The lectures would become less entertaining after a while. His syllabus was very clear and he explains everything very well. Class participation goes a long way in his class because it will help you learn the material better.

The class gives you some really deep conversations. Boecherer wants to hear ideas, and the discussions can get pretty involved. The reading can be odd but class lets you figure it out. The rewrites help. He genuinely seems to care.

I definitely learned reoccurring life lessons. I think that the grading on my papers was quite tough but I guess I could use more improvement than I thought. I liked being involved in many of the conversations of the class. Prof. Boecherer made the class enjoyable and the reading much better than it could have been.

What a great professor. I'm goin to dearly miss him. He cares about his subject, and he makes students care, too. Heavy emphasis on the readings, though, and his papers are graded tough; but extra credit and revision is always allowed, and he is willing to help.

Extremely tough grader, a lot of reading. Papers are usually 5 pages and the bar is set very high. Mandatory reaction papers every week

Always comes with good energy. Understands the reading is tough. Lecture and discussion explains it thoroughly. If you do the reading and he can tell you are trying, he will work with you. Great guy. Would suggest.

The class was interesting. We read a lot of things, and the instructor encouraged talking. Though I am not a fan of paper writing who is I liked the fact we coukd revise our grades based on written feedback.

I truly enjoyed the class, and I did learn a great deal. He allows for revision, and I think my writing got stronger as a result. He met with me outside of class and even wrote a letter of recommendation for me. He cares, and it is evident he likes his students and the books. I wish other instructors cared so much.

Mythology which means you read a lot of old stuff because myths are old. We talk a lot and that helps so if you pay attention you should be fine because papertopcs come from in class. I met with him three times outside of class to talk about papers and he ven let me hand a late paper in late. Conversations were nice and thoughtful I liked the fact that he wanted to hear from me. I would take him again if I were staying here.

I loved this class. Took it to fit my schedule and really ended up liking it. Discussions were interesting, and professor encouraged us to share. I am not talkative, but I found myself getting involved. I liked the fact that we could revise major papers and hand in early drafts. Dr. Boecherer really cares. I would take him again.

My second class with Dr. B. There is reading but class conversations help you figure out what is going on. Papers come from class discussion, and you get the chance to revise major papers. Sometimes extra credit. Dr. B can be found outside of class and made me coffee the three or four times I have gone to see him about papers. I really like him.

I really like him. I am graduating and he has been talking to me outside of class about 4 year schools and majors. He also been helping me with revisions of my major paper. There is a good deal of reading in the classbut if you know your plot you will be fine. Discussions are interesting. Take him.

Boecherer is one of the coolest professors i've ever had. Not only is he hilarious, but his class is interesting. He doesn't give much hw. Just read a few chapters from the TB and weekly 1 page reaction papers. its such a simple class and he makes it worth showing up every week.

He let me revise all of my major papers and met me to help. I was surprised that the reading applied to today and would take another class with him.

I enjoyed this class. This was a summer class taken online. The instructor posted video lectures and PowerPoints with voiceovers every week. These lectures lasted about an hour, and tied to the reading and discussions. I would listen, read, and then do the work. Accessible via email, and good about letting me revise. Take him.

I got sick halfway through the class and he was very understanding. Gave me time to catch up and answered all my questions. Good guy good class.

This is turning out to be a better class than I thought it would be. Took it for a requirement, and I am really enjoying it. The professor posts weekly powerpoints with voiceover, which help to egt a grip on the lit. He can be funny. He gave the class a paper extension and gave me great feedback on my paper. I would take him again.

Took this course Spring '19. Shakespeare can be intimidating, but if you take it with Dr. Boecherer, you will acquire so much knowledge! His class discussions were truly applicable to other aspects of life, and made Shakespeare's work relevant. He allows revisions on papers, too, because he wants you to learn and grow. Take him!

Online winter class that flew by. I really liked him. Gave us optional office hours, took early drafts and gave us an extension. I enjoyed the powerpoint lectures and the material. I would take him again.

I am non-matric, taking a few credits at a time. I started the class late in the semester due to unforeseen events. Prof. Boecherer told me to drop the class due to absence -- but he then worked with college admin so that I could enter a late start class without losing the tuition I already paid. He saved my tuition and he REALLY cares! Take him.

Truly one of the kindest professors I have ever met. was really understanding if you missed class for any reason. He made lectures interesting and informative. As an English major, I understood shakespeare, but if you don't, no worries! he'll help you until you get it! such a sweet soul. Wish I could take more classes with him!

Professor Boecherer is hands down one of my favorites. He is very caring and approachable and does his best to make sure you understand the material. He gave my class multiple extensions and offered advising appointments. Lots of reading and writing but as long as you put in the effort, participate in class, and do the assignments, you'll do great!

I liked him. The video lectures were easy to listen to and easy to access all term. They helped me understand the reading and almost made me feel as if this were a face to face class. The homework was fine and I like that he allowed for revision. I would take Boecherer again.

I loved Dr. Boecherer. The class was great, but he really went out of his way for me. He could not access my final paper. Rather than fail me, he emailed and called me -- asking me to email it to him. Without that, I would never have passed. This was my last class for graduation. I wish everyone cared so much.

Such a kind person! Helps gives such a better understanding of the plays and tries to connect it to todays world. He kept the classes entertaining. He was always available and tried to fit you in whenever he could. He really cares and is so understanding. Two or three papers on the plays/class discussions and weekly reflections but nothing too bad!

This was an online class. Weekly discussions, small reaction papers, and larger essays you could revise. Presentations were fun to listen to. What impressed me was the fact that he called me personally when I missed the deadline for the final paper (tough semester). He told me he would take the assignment late, and I passed. Very kind, and caring.

Excellent professor but be ready to read and write. There are 4 papers, 2 reaction papers(very easy.) 2 formal papers which should be 4-5 pages. Easy for me because I am good at literature but this guy improved my analytical skills and overall writing. Take him and this will be a learning experience.

Great and funny professor. Get ready to read a lot. At the time, I was annoyed by so many papers we would have to submit but I ended learning a lot from this class. I actually enjoyed this class.

2 formal papers (4-6 pages), 2 reaction papers (1 page), 7 discussions, you watch plays, write about them in a reactions and compare them to Aristotle poetics, and a reactions (your opinion) you can say I beileve, think. very good professor, funny guy, even made me a coffee! You can choose your own musical towards the end. I would take him again.

He was an amazing professor anf honestly planning to take him again next semester. He is funny, caring, and will help you out if you need to boost up your grade. Will give you chances to fix up your work. Not to much work in my opinion, though quite al ot of reading but it's an english class so that's kind of expected. Love him and his class.

Great professor who makes the content engaging. Lots of reading, but the video lectures and opportunity to revise work make it manageable. Unstuckstudy was a lifesaver for staying on top of the material.
