Great Professor. I had him for both my history classes. He is not an easy one. But if you want to learn, then he is a must. His lectures are impressive. To me, they seemed like a movie and I always wanted to make it to his next class.
This guy pulls ridiculous questions out of books and the text. He does not go on the concept or idea, but picks small details that do not add to your education. He makes it hard to enjoy, even with his good lectures, because you never know what he wants and the main ideas and events aren't enough
Great lecture, understandable. Good teacher, grade fairly. recommend who are intrested in history!!
His grading of tests was what threw me off. I think the idea of words required on essays and essay length (amount of pages) is arbitrary. I would meet word requirements but because I used college ruled rather than wide ruled paper, I was deducted for essay length.
He made it fun!!I never fell asleep once! Test do require essays, however he gave the class the essay questions before the actual test so that we could do them before hand. He also would check them to see if we were on the right track, however, he did not allow use our notes on the test day!
very hard tests, but he always kept my interest during lectures.
This guy is nuts! He asks the most detailed questions from the reading. You MUST read the book and take notes in the lectures. You must also read articles he has written and read a novel plus write a paper. Take Irene Guenther if you can!!
Well he explains very well, and he is really helpful before a test. I recommend this class to students who really like history.
Wonderful
Not the easiest teacher, but by far the best. If you’re actually planning on learning anything, take Dr. Botson for sure! =)
Good teacher but is definatly a challenge. You must read a book for the class and take good notes. Test are hard, but not impossible, you will learn alot.

Dr Botson is a kind and caring person. His tests are half multiple choice and half essays. If you try in his class, you will see the reward. He is the best.
Great teacher. He's very informative. His class is somewhat hard but if you pay attention and take notes you shouldn't even need to open the History Book that is assigned. The only thing that I don't like is that he doesn't offer extra credit. The only times he has was to go see a movie on campus and write about it. Other than that nothing.
Dr.Botson is an awesome teacher!very clear and interesting!!though he's all about essays!!!has 2 books to read, tests r all essay (but he'll give u a sheet w/possible essay quets b4 test)!! n help u correct them!!! Nice but very strict. Got an A+ only bc I prepared for those essay b4 all tests! word of advice: DO THE TERM PAPER!!!!Highly recommende
Best teacher I've had as of yet. Lectures are really clear and grasp your attention no matter what your interest in history may be. If are looking to learn something from history and not just an "easy grade" I would definitely recommend him!
Dr Botson is a very good teacher and he is very passionate about this subject and he makes history more fun to learn. He does issue 2 books to read but if you read them you should do fine. I made an A for the class and I never even did better than an 85 on any test. I did well on the project and the book essays. I never read the text book.
Very detailed on lecture. You have to show up or you'll be lost. Former Military man so he can be strict but keeps the class in order and it is portrayed in his tests. Take good notes and you can ace all his test. He also gives you interesting books to read. Basically a book report
Let's just say he's a good teacher but the subject he is passionate about may not interest everyone. This history class focus's on the working man. Who wants to learn about that? I stopped going in search of a better curriculum.
Professor Botson is my favorite professor! I am not much of a history fan and after taking his class I learned to appreciate history. His lectures are very interesting and easy to comprehend. His tests are over what he lectures in class so if you are taking good notes you can ace his tests. Be a good student and respect his class and you will pass!
Great Teacher.
Botson is one of the very best professors HCC has to offer. I would highly reccommend his class, even if you aren't a history buff. There's not a lot of date memorization, his lectures are narrative and informative, and he is very approachable and willing to help his students. GREAT professor.
He is a good prof but his subject matter is boring. I love history, but not his class.
I doubled on my histories this Spring Semester. I had him for US Hist 1302 along with TX Hist (Soph Level) 2301 at the same time. He explains the mechanics of history, rather than monotonous dates. His personal lectures make the material easily understood. Try HARD...or "scholastic Darwinism"...survival of the fittest. You will work for every grade
hes very nice and even funny...all you do is take notes most of the time, but the tests are killers.
BEST prof 4 hist.took him 4 both n never regret, easy A. but u have 2 work 4 it which is not as he tells a great story. not good with jokes but tries.recommended!
This has to be the best professor HCC has to offer. I wish he taught other subjects, i'd be signing up right now. I honestly HATE history with a passion but Botson made it fun and interesting. He lectures all class, so you must take good notes to do well on his exams.
I DID NOT LIKE THIS TEACHER AT ALL. I HAD A FEW QUESTIONS AND HE WOULD NOT EVEN SPEAK TO ME AFTER CLASS. VERY RUDE AND I DONT AGREE WITH THE OTHERS HIS TEACHING WAS NOT GOOD AND HE WAS NOT NICE OR WILLING TO LISTEN TO HIS STUDENTS
Mr Botson is a great teacher but his test are very very hard, you must read 2 books plus all the History text book. And his review are really hard too. His class is very interesting and the way hi explains in great.
Prepare for class, follow directions & this is an easy class. Had NO interest in the subject matter, but after the 1st few lectures, I couldn't WAIT to get to class each day! Dr. Botson's lectures are amazing & he clearly loves his job! Open to helping struggling students if approached early on. He gives credit for EFFORT & understands busy lives.
tests are impossible. very sarcastic. can be helpful if you write out the essays for review. does not give extra credit. very cut and dry and does not care about your personal life or what else you have to do. what a waste. do not bother with unless you are a perfect student.
He is one of the best professors at HCC. I hate history, I think is boring but he did everything on his power to make it interesting. Tests are hard but after a while you get use to it, if you do your work is easy to get a good grade. TAKE HIM!!
he is the best. i took him for 1301 and had to take him for 1302! he makes history interesting and he uses his life experiences to help.
History had always been my most detested subject, until I took his class. His lectures are interesting and clear. It does take work to get an A: reading the text book and articles assigned. It also helps alot to do the review essays prior to the test. It is not an easy class, but it is an easy one to be interested in. Definitely recommend him!
Talks a LOT, so be sure to take notes. His lectures are from from linear. If you go to class, take notes, and READ THE BOOK, you'll get an A or B. Nice guy, but don't test his patience or you'll regret it. I took both HIST1301 and HIST1301 and am getting good grades and learning a lot.
he is not a good tecaher, his tests are soooo hard...there is no extra credits no nothing... just tests... I do not recomend him to any student...
It helps to take notes as he talks. The tests are easy.Need to read the book and definetly study the review sheets he provides. He gives two essays to write in all of his tests and if you write a lot it is easy to get a good grade. Very knowledgeable.Does not give bonus point or quizes.Only 3 tests, two book review tests and final. Not hard.
Very good teacher, makes History fun and a joy to learn. Anyone that complains about this teacher can't be pleased and is probably just a lazy student. Highly recommend!!!!
Talks a lot, but passes on the message. Funny guy whit a great sence of humor. You have to take good notes and read your text books.
i love professor botson! this class was NOT easy, i took him for hist 1301 and 1302 and i made c's but i can't say i didn't deserve them. this professor talks a LOT but he makes history interesting. i hated history before botson. ps. you NEED to read the text to pass this class.
Talks a lot, but passes on the message. Funny guy with a great sence of humor. You have to take good notes and read your text books.
Great Professor! He is Very knowledgeable and interesting. The only HCC professor I feel is worth the money. Take his class if you want to learn though, by no means is this an easy A
takes notes,it help alot but so much work,i got an A but i worked so hard.he will give you the essay question and that helps but he makes you to read text and novel.the class is very intresting and you will enjoy the class
Dr. Botson is an amazing professor. He has a great passion for History and you can easily tell through his lectures. His test are pretty easy but you MUST TAKE NOTES. There are two test, two book exams (which are easy 100's on if you at least skim over the books) and a final. This class is definatley not an easy A but if you try, it is possible!
Amazing. His class is not easy, but you learn a lot. He puts a lot of weight on in-class essays but the class is passable. He expects you to know your stuff and if you do, your grades will show it.
Do not take this class unless u really want to challenge urself
Once again, I am pleased that I took Dr. Botson for History. He loves the subject and really knows his stuff. You must read the material he assigns and take notes. If you read and go to class, you will do well.
This guy here is not fair, I he graded me a 70 in one test,I got all the multiple choice answers right, but since he dint like my essays he gave me a c, which caused me to get a B!
he is a good teachers but he makes his tests really hard
His a wonderful professor. He really knows his history, I really enjoyed this class you can make an A, if you take Good notes and read the assignments
I had a 3.75 GPA before I took this class and failed. You must be a strait A student, and happen to be one of his favorites to pass.. If you have a job or not a ton of extra time on your hands I wouldn't recommend it
He is so hard I took him for the summer and he gave 4 test plus final so 5 totals. Summer class are only 4 weeks but he still give a lot of test and regular work like it's a regular term. on each test you have to write essay. and the essay are have to be at least 300-345 words long otherwise you'll receive a failing grade.
His class was not easy nor hard. Just read the given pages of your book and his articles and you'll be fine on his tests. the novel he assigns is worth reading and interesting (if you like to read & if you like history). Not a great sense of humor but he knows what he's talking about. We had a rocky start but he ended up being a legit professor.
Dr. Botson is a wonderful professor! He is extremely helpful and will help you in any way possible. I will admit I was leery about the amount of papers that had to be written however I believe they helped a lot. I would and will let anyone know, if they need to take this class that he is the professor to take!
Not an easy class but if history caught your interest, you should take this prof. Reading textbook is extremely important in the first 2 exams. He grades the essay generously but NO extra credit, only in extremely rare occasion. Very down to earth and friendly guy to know.
ONLINE; 12 assignments, all essays. 3 tests that are taken on campus, not online. The tests include an essay, which is usually one of the ones from the assignments. The essays aren't too bad, but I did do pretty bad on the first 2 tests. But if you actually read it shouldn't be so bad.
Botson is a great professor. Really knows his stuff. If you take notes and write at least the minimum amount in his essays then you'll easily get an A.
If you like history at all Dr. Botson is the one to take. Its not a brief overview he really teaches history, the only regret I have is that I took his class in Summer. Very accommodating and understanding, if you take history 1302 at hcc and don't take Dr Botson's class it's a huge mistake.
Mr. Botson wants to help all of his students and he makes the class fun! He likes telling stories that apply to his lessons and that really helps you learn the material. If you read everything, take notes, write essays well and ask questions you should get an A!
Make sure you really dedicate time to his class and prepare for exams way in advance. His lectures are interesting and engaging. He is a VERY HARD GRADER. HE IS A WORD COUNTER on his in-class essays. He limits you to only using the front side of the sheet & its better if you write kinda small. NOT AN EASY A AT ALL. He can be mean and sarcastic.
I really enjoyed Dr. Boston's class. You can't say he gave you a grade you didn't earn, if you do the work and follow his instructions ( which are very clear! ) you should pass this class no problem. He doesn't overload you with work like some online classes. I wish he taught some of the other courses I have to take! Would definitely recommend.
He makes this class fun. He puts his own personal life and sometimes tells us stories so we can get a feel for the topic and understand it more. Be sure to attend class and write good notes. Everyone says they can just read the book but its boring, his lectures are better. Grading criteria isn't all that bad. Just don't slack off and you'll pass!
tests terrible. essay questions are your best friends. book test is ezpz lemon squeezy. this guy is beyond boring & he wont let you sleep.
Great professor. Don;t miss his lectures, take notes, and depend more on essay.
The Best chem teacher. His is really wise. If you need help or don't understand something he loves to go over it. there is 4 exam but he drops the lowest test grade and he also add extra credit. I am gonna take him for chem 1412 for sure.
Mr. Botson is a really good professor. You are going to have a good writing level to pass this class. Every exam you will have to do 2 essays questions with at least 285 words plus the multiple choice question. You will have to read the book, plus another book and articles. He is passionate, I really like the class, even though was a lot of work.
Amazing teacher, taught information very well and made history interesting. Attend all classes and take notes. He provides test essay questions ahead of time, I suggest preparing for all essays (guaranteed A if you do!) and don’t be afraid to ask questions he will gladly help.
AMAZING CLASS!! DR. BOTSON IS VERY PASSIONATE ABOUT HIS JOB. HE DOES A GOOD JOB AT EXPLAING THE MATERIAL, AND ALWAYS KEEPS IT INTERESTING. TEST ARE NOT THAT HARD. HE EVEN TELL YOU WHAT SECTIONS TO READ OUT OF THE BOOK SO YOU DONT WASTE YOUR TIME READING SOMETHING THATS NOT ON THE TEST. JUST MAKE SURE YOU TAKE GOOD NOTES AND YOU SHOULD BE FINE :)
Botson is UH-MAZINGGGG If I could have him teach every single class I''m required to take I would do it. He is very straight-forward about what he wantsrequires. Do as he says you will get an A
GREAT teacher!! dr Botson did a grea job explaining the material, on the test reviews you get the essay questions so its a no brainer, very easy going and teaches straight to the point. i enjoyed his class and as long as you take notes and study your A is guaranteed! will take him for hist 2 for sure!!!
I took this class online and might I say it was a great! It was my first ever online class and he made it really easy to understand. Like others have said, he's very clear on his instructions. There are textbook readings and quizzes every week. 3 examssemester. Split the chapter readings up into 3 days and you'll be fine! There are papers too.
Great class Great teacher he makes the subject very interesting and is very inspirational
Mr. Botson has become my favorite teacher at HCC. He is a super nice guy but he really won't tolerate being late or falling asleep in class. Don't do that, it's disrespectful and he'll tell you so. He gives pretty long lectures, but I found them very interesting and he's really knowledgeable. He really loves his subject and you can tell.
Professor Botson was awesome!!! History isnt the most interesting subject but how he lectures and always breaks it down so you can understand is why this calss turned out to be good. He doesnt lecture out of the history book which i loved. I took him during a second start class and thought time wise it was perfect. If you listen and take notes during his lectures and read the book you will make an A. Would highly recommend him!!
Prof. Botson did an amazing job teaching U.S. History after 1867. He kept it interesting and had a lot of personal experience to share concerning labor. He is fairly easy if you put in a little effort to take notes, attend class, and prepare for the two short test essays.
Dr. Botson is the best professor I ever had! His lectures are to the point and you can ask him questions, he likes for students to be part of the discussion and he values intelligence. The questions for all the tests are posted on the learning web from the beginning of the semester so there is no reason not to get an "A"! He is very understanding.
I loved his History class. His lectures were interesting, and sometimes he included personal stories. He's clear on what he's looking for and gives a bulletin on what you should read. Tests are fairly easy. If you show up and sign his attendance, you can leave right after. He believes that our personal lives matter. Do NOT miss an exam.
Professor Botson's 1302 class can be tough at times but is done so to help you improve your study skills. Botson's lectures are interesting and he really enjoys what his history. Like any class, you have to show up, READ THE BOOK, prepare for his essays, and study, study, study for his exams. This class is straight forward and enjoyable.
He's a really awesome professor I took this class in the Spring of 2015 and he grades the essay fairly easy, take it online and it will be a lot easier. Just 1 quiz per week and 2 tests for the whole semester and the third one is the final. He's an overall good professor take him :)
His class is really easy. His lectures run a bit long, but they're interesting. The book isn't totally necessary, but it does help. His tests are easy to pass; you just need to pay attention to his lecture and go over your notes.
Best professor at HCC. I wish i took him for 1301. You would have to miss the exam to fail it. if you attend class and do not read for the exam, you would still pass. He is well informed on the topics he teaches, providing basis for the information and the reasons for the events. *** Only KNOW YOUR MAPS! he doesn't teach that but it is in exam.
So much reading shoved in your face and his tests are so unclear with the essay portion. He gives you 7 essay prompts and picks 2 random for his tests. wtf. He obviously has no compassion to students like me that have difficulty with how unclear he is. he makes you really beg for a passing grade.
Gave me a 0 on an essay because I didn't turn it in at BOTH the places he asked, only one. Despite me literally begging him to reconsider or at least give me an extra credit assignment to do, he did not help me whatsoever. Let me just say that I had done every single assignment and never failed. Merciless teacher that doesn't reward hard work.
Professor Botson's class is fairly easy. You have a geography quiz at the beginning of the semester, it's basically memorization. He is not a tough grader and test are multiple choice with 2 essay questions. You are given the questions ahead of time for the possible essay questions, so you can prepare before the test. His lectures were boring...
did not enjoy this class! tried super super hard, still got a C! quizzes are hard for no reason! not enough time given to take quizzes and review answers! (quizzes 8 mins for ten?'s & exams 20 mins for 25 ?'s) all i can say is GOD bless his heart!
His class is moderately easy. You have to put work into the class to get an A, if you are a lazy student don't bother. I think is a good guy, but if you are interested on the "war side" of history, don't take him. He focuses more on the labor, labor unions, and obscure civil rights events that are remotely interesting. His gives good lectures
Don't take this online class if you're looking for an easy to moderate class. There were 12 quizzes, 4 papers which need to be 7pgs long to get an A though he only asks for 5 paragraphs, 2 exams and a Final exam. The tests were the worst. I read the book, notes, plus read extra on my own, but tests gave a min or less to read all the Qs and answer.
TOUGH TEACHER He is really tough professor, long lecture, he requires read LOTS articles and his lecture is boring, he didnt use any powerpoint.. he just stands there and talks..... AND if you miss 3 classes then he will drop you!! Exams are hard, if you dont like reading then dont take it!! the hardest professor i ever seen
Lectures are clear and easier to understand than reading the textbook. Don't skip class, showing up everyday is like studying for the exam. Super cool dude.
His lecture is just stand up in front of the class, speaks really fast, and sometimes out of the main focus of the topic. When we do a test, he asks his students to make an essay about the question that is on the review sheet. Then, he will give a feedback on it. I get 23 extra credits on his class by watching movie and attend several speaker
Prof. was very generous in grading my 4 essays (4). If you write well, then you should get an easy B. The class is basically, just read a chapter and take a quiz. Final and midterms are NOT comprehensive. The quizes are a bit difficult because its more about learning concepts and not dates.
Professor Botson is overall a great professor, fair grader, and if you have any questions about a subject he will answer it and help you. Beware though, you will have to read a lot in order to pass his class, other than that I would definitely take his class again.
Must read and a quiz every week! He has essays throughout the semester which are fairly easy. There's no reason not to pass as long as you read. Quizzes are timed so you cannot google AND take the quiz. However, I would take him again. Everything was clear.
He is a great teacher but if you are taking him as a dual credit class he is not very compatible with you he expects more than a college student. The majority of the dual credit students got D's so its at your own risk to take this
He is the first professor who i think need to get a rate. Amazing history professor. His test is easy, specially in essay with an international student like me. Just few extra credit, there is attendance signing every class. You should take him if you want an A. Must reading 6 articles + 1 book but you can find the summary.
Despite the long lectures, Mr. Botson was always trying to make students laugh by talking about his life. The tests weren't hard if you actually studied, the geography quiz was the easiest assignment, and YOU MUST read a book in order to pass a reading quiz(which in my opinion was boring...)
I took the class online. Lengthy 10 question quizzes had a 2 min time limit. and lengthy 25 question tests had 13 min time limits. I don't think I can explain how difficult it is to read that fast and recall information. I tried emailing for help but he was pretty rude about it. I had to drop because I could not meet the time limits.
I didn't do all that great in Dr. Botson's class, but I have a great amount of respect for the man. Truly knows the subject of American History very well and is passionate about educating others about it. Really puts a good workload on you, so if you really want an A you gotta work for it. Take good notes, and leave your phone in your backpack!
Professor Botson has done a great job thus far in being a teacher that cares about students. He always makes sure they are always listening (if you are a bad student and sleep, or are on your phone all the time, you will be put on the spot, as expected), makes sure you understand, and uses stories to relate to the subject and make it interesting.
Professor Botson is old school. He lectures verbally for the most part and writes few notes on the chalkboard. Geography quiz, 3 exams that use the textbook, 25 multiple choice and 2 essay questions. 2 exams on a book he assigns. Review his syllabus on the learning web. You retain info in his class. Take good notes and pay attention. He's good.
Let me start by saying that he is very knowledgeable in his field. He is also arrogant and likes to ridicule students. He makes you prepare for six possible essays! He makes you read boring information about the steel mills up north. Then, he will talk to you about how traumatized he was working for those mills. Horrible professor to say the least.
i dont even know where 2 begin let me just put it as simple as this. there are 3 test and a final also 2 quizes. i kid you not theres a world georgraphy quiz the first week. the second quiz is about a completey seperate book down the line(which is also difficult). the test are comprised of 25 multiple choice questions and two essay questions
Dr. Botson provided clear instructions on what to study and offered his help in making sure we understood the information we needed to have for essays on our tests. Test questions coincide with the study material requirements listed on the syllabus. He truly cares and gives opportunity for extra credit. The book he assigned to read was amazing!
Dr. Botson is an amazing professor! His style of teaching keeps you interested in the course. Dr. Botson truly enjoys what he is teaching that resonates within his lectures. If you keep up with your readings and use his study guides to prepare for tests there is no reason not to pass his class. Take him for History 1302 you won't be disappointed!
History was never a fun subject for me to learn and I would usually struggle in it. Mr. Botson gives some of the best lectures i've ever heard before. The class consist of 3 tests and two book tests. All the essays on the test come from lecture notes and the multiple choice come from the textbook chapters. I Highly recomment taking this class!
His cursive is unreadable & he will CALL YOU OUT ON EVERYTHING. No sleeping and no phones, which is understandable, but if you get caught he scolds you like youre a child. If you leave his class to use the bathroom he asks that you dont even come back in. He repeats himself and goes off topic and then gets mad when you fall asleep. Lecture heavy!
A wonderful professor filled with passion for history.
professor Botson is an amazing teacher, who cares about his students. Although his test can be difficult, he does give test reviews. the tests consist of some multiple choice questions, and 2 essays that are 300 words or more. his lectures are verbal, so if u do not attend class u may fail.
This Pro. is very knowledgeable, and his lectures are strictly verbal and him writing a few points on board. (Can get boring) There is roughly 2 quizzes and 4 exams, 1 of which is two essays over the book Out of This Furnace. (He uses this book year in, year out) There is much reading to do including side articles. There is a hefty load of work.
Botson is a great professor he loves what he does and tells history like a story. You will have to show up to class and read the textbook in order to make a good grade, plus he requires you to read articles and a book. Don't be intimated its a great class just don't fall asleep or use your phone, he will call you out.
His lectures are very informative! You will never get bored sitting in his class because he makes his lectures very interesting and talks about everything in detail, which will be good for your exams. He gives reviews for all his exams, so if you attend his class and focus on the content on the review, you'll get an an A!
Dr. Botson is an amazing professor! He lets you know at the beginning of the semester what assignments you will have, so you have plenty of time to prepare. He outlines what he will lecture about each day on the board making it easy to understand and easy to follow. He is always willing to help should you need it. Loved his class!!
Alright here is how to survive and succeed in Dr. Botson's class: 1.) participation! he really appreciates when you participate in class because not many people do. guaranteed this will benefit you. 2.) attend class, take GOOD notes, and then rewrite your notes. 3.) refer to notes for the essay part of test and READ textbook for multiple choice.
Think twice before taking him
Awesome teacher!
amazing! highly recommended. Doesnt give homework. Only lectures but his lectures are very fun! would take again 100%
His class are lectures but they are actually enjoyable. I do not like history, but he made me interested in it. His lectures are like stories and they keep me intrigued. The exams are also easy as long as you write the essays using your notes and read the textbook for the multiple choice. He is a good professor and would definitely recommend.
You must the books! theres a wrold map quiz in the beginning, extra credit provided at the hcc reel, if available? The lectures are based on the book, his history, and the articles which are alot! Also based on Out of This Furnace. study study study! you got this
Good lectures. Got an easy A. Don't have your phone out!!!! LOL
Great professor! I took him for both 1301 and 1302. 1302 was more challenging because of all the reading but still if you do the work, easy A. His study guides are the test exactly which was extremely helpful. Lectures are interesting as he has a great sense of humor and you can tell he knows his stuff and is passionate about it. NO homework!!
Really great professor! Really breaks it down and teaches you. Easy A if you show up. Offers extra credit as well.
Professor Botson is amazing! I've taken him for both 1301 and 1302 because I just absolutely love his class. He is very nice and gets students easily interested in history. He has 3 tests and 2 books exams but they are very easy if you pay attention to the lectures. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Energetic and funny professor, makes history fun to learn! Syllabus is straightforward and sticks to it. If you go to class and arrive ON TIME or earlier, because he starts lecturing exactly on time, take notes, read the chapters/books assigned you will pass. He also gives Extra Credit opportunities! I had a great experience and learned a lot!
Absolutely LOVE professor Botson. I hate history and he made me love it so much. He is very caring towards his students and makes sure everyone understands the lectures. He lectures a lot, but he lectures in a way that is very interesting and relatable to the students. Students always participate and we always have discussions about the lectures.
First quiz of the class I didnt pass. Then professor Botson says to the class, whoever here didnt pass the quiz will most likely not make a passing grade in the class. No encouragement, no nothing about how one can do better next time. I felt like he set us up for failure and I didnt feel like I had what it takes to pass, so I dropped the class.
Fair teacher, he gives reviews for all the tests so you know what to study. Tries to make his lectures as interesting as possible, but honestly weren't
Best History professor. Took him for History 1301 and taking him again for 1302. Just listen and take notes you will be fine. Not too many homeworks.
Professor Botson made history so easy and fascinating. Attendance is a MUST. Book is a must. A lot of reading and essays BUT as long as you read and attend his classes EASY A. Must know what youre writing about. 3 tests & essay exams. BOOK REPORT. Offers EXTRA CREDIT. Must realize that history involves a lot of writing. Welcome to college.
I feel cheated that I could not attend his classes in person after COVID messed eveythng up! He made connections so very simple through his amazing storeis. I could listen to him talk forever and not be bored. He is a remarkable teacher and a true genius.
DO NOT SKIP ONE SINGLE CLASS! Prepare to take notes. He does not use a power point presentation. Everything is oral presentation. You have to be focused on what he says. Recording his classes is prohibited. He is an amazing professor!
Professor Boston is not good at all he will make you read a bunch of boring information on material that you wont even be tested on and make you prepare for 6 possible essay questions on the tests that he wont even give you enough information on in class to write about.
Worst professor ever. This is a history class and prof Botson graded this as a composition course. He had VERY UNCLEAR grading criteria and direction. If you are bad at writing, please do not take him.
Only 3 exams and they are all essays, on top of that you will have to read a boring book to do a book project on which is another essay. Not very clear on instructions. Horrible professor. Literally gave me a low grade because I was short on words, didnt say anything about the quality of my essay at all.
Great knowledgeable professor. Took him for HIST 1301 and 1302. People complained that he was difficult and that tests were hard. They were easy if you did even minimal reading. Just show up and take notes. Only does lectures, which are actually useful. Would definitely recommend. Easy A for me.
I took him for Summer 2020 a 5-weeks class. He is pretty straight forward on what he wants. There is only 3 essay exams and 1 book project. They aren't hard you just have to put in effort. He grades fast and give his input overall the class isn't bad.
AMAZING PROFESSOR. He makes History interesting and gives great lectures. Thanks to Dr. Botson, i can now go more than an hour without looking at my phone. He posts the exact essay questions on his learning web for you to practice weeks before his exam. He is motivating. I highly recommend him.
This professor is so amazing. He gives the best lectures, full of information. He knows his history. You must read your books as well. But he is good. I took him for 1301 and 1302.
Pretty self explanatory do the essay exams and make sure to proof read them and he will give back his feedback,
