nice guy, a bit disorganized but good teacher and easy to talk to
Awesome person, not so good teacher. He is monotone, very hard to stay awake, and I love biology.
excellent teacher, great knowledge, awesome fellow
zzz...
he's a nice guy, but very boring class and lectures. Just study the notes he gives and understand it and u should do just fine on the mid terms and quizzes.
Totally easy to understand and narrows information down to the main points.
Brilliant prof. This instructor definately knows his stuff. Sometimes hard to follow but he will stop and explain if you don't understand. Learnt a lot.
A very very good teacher!!!!!
incredibly intelligent instructor. I really enjoyed and learned a lot from this class!
This guy is the best!! So easy going and has precise and clear notes! Everything you need to know is in his notes so no need to read the text. He doesn't even count spelling mistakes during quizzes or tests!! All quizzes or tests are multiple choice with a few fill in the blanks. REALLY easy! If you're good with memorization, TAKE HIM!!
had him in the summer. he is a wonderful teacher. his tests aren't too bad, you just need to study his notes. gives out weekly quizzes which really helps. tests are all m.c. and quizzes are m.c. and fill in the blanks and he is a VERY clear. i highly recommend him.
Bridges is awesome!!!It might be a lil borin in his class and makes u fall asleep easily but his tests & quizzes r easy(if u study)... He's nice and patient.. Easy to talk to.. he tries his best to help u pass the course... u're LUCKY if u hav him as ur teacher!!!
Dr. Bridges is such a sweetheart! He is extremely helpful. He is interested in your success and being fair to the whole class. If you have him consider yourself lucky. If the tests or quizzes were too difficult, he scales the marks and adds major marks to your exam paper. Once he evn added another 6% to everyone's tests. Awesome.
he's good teacher, but wonders off topic sometimes (that is, he starts talking about stuff that's not part of the course, but still interesting) and for that reason always tries to cram the rest of the lecture in the last 20min. easy tests.. MCs.. you get your results the next day.
His class is boring but Michael is awesome. Very down to earth and he's a fair marker. Highly recommended!
Dr. Bridges is one of the best teachers I've ever had. He's so caring and an absolutely humble individual. Goes out of his way for students - never met a person who knew sooo much!! He's also very, very handsome and sweet!!
Michael is a great biology prof! If you can take his class take it becasue he really knows his stuff and his notes make studying really easy:)
If you want to learn patho and also pass it, go for Michael. A real teacher - knows his stuff and understands students. Highly recommended!
He's a total sweetie! Very knowledgeable and always willing to help his students. An extremely fair marker.
very boring but hes very easy and will give you a decent mark, good enough to get into your program. awesome guy
The course content itself is very challanging but Micheal is the nicest, most helpful, and most memorable individuals I have ever met. He goes out of his way to help his students and makes them his top priority. It was my favorite class of all time because of him.
I'm sure he's a nice person, but his classes were dreadful! Unfortunately he is the only one teaching Bio2291 otherwise I would recommend avoiding his classes like the plague.
Great teacher. Very helpful and caring towards his students. Fair and generous marker. Tests can be really tricky but what can you except, most people taking Biology are going into Nursing, so he wants you to know your stuff.
Michael is one of the best bio teachers. He cares about his students and tries to make things easier for us. A quiz every week, but it really helps you review for the test. I would gladly take him again if i had the chance!
Honestly one of the most genuinely nice teachers I have ever had! favourite!
I took his 1190 bio class. He is definitely one of the nicest teacher I have encountered in a long time. He is very helpful and he definitely knows the contents of what he's teaching. He truly cares about his students, and i find it very rare to find a teacher like that now a days. He is a fair marker. I highly recommend taking his courses :)
he's a gentleman:amazingly nice and polite and always willing to help you out with your diffculties!however, the course material is dry and boring( it's TONS of physiology that u have to MEMORIZE),so the 8.30 am class was a bit challenging, but Micheal couldn't be held accountable for that!u r great Mike!oh,ul be lucky if u get Sandy as the lab prof!
I took him this term for 1191 as well. HE IS THE NICEST PROF I'VE EVER MET! His lectures are extremely boring though, but he gives you notes. And all his exams are MC, and they never go beyond his notes. I totally recommend him. And he is always willing to help you out if you need. Great guy!
Best professor ever. He's caring, helpful, and very encouraging. Highly recommended biology professor
he is amazing! very caring and fun! he really makes sure u understand the material! HE IS FANTASTIC! Langara needs more profs like him!
Michael is the sweetest and most genuine person I have ever met. His class is painfully boring but consistent. The tests are all MC and from his notes. It's a hard course and you can't slack, but I recommend his class none the less.
He is SOOO kind! Not only does he know his stuff, he is totally considerate of students and gives quizzes which actually help and make you study each week! His midterm is consistent with the formate and difficulty of his quizzes. Definitely one of my most favorite profs at Langara. He tries to do as much as he can for students! Highly recommended.
Class can get dry but overall Micheal is an AWESOME teacher. He truly knows what he's talking about. All his exams/quizzes are based on his notes and all MC, a fair marker as well...Overall, Micheal is a must teacher to have for BIO!
Michael is an amazing teacher. He cares about his students greatly and if you have a question he will explain it to you until you understand. His tests are mc so that is easy and he teaches very well and knows his material because he's very well educated. I strongly recommend you to take anatomy course with him bc he is the best bio teacher.

His MC exams aren't as easy as many say, the questions are mainly formatted (everything is right except: ...) Saying that, If you know his notes inside and out, you'll do great in this class. Michael's a really sweet guy and always willing to help. One of the kindest teachers I know of. Im glad I took this class with him.
One of the nicest and most caring teachers I have ever had. Weekly quizzes out of 10, and many questions on these and exam are "all are correct except", just make sure you know the notes WELL and pay attention to detail. Difficult course and lectures were very dry but his questions are usually fair. Wonderful bio teacher, recommend him!
Michael is a gentle, kind man. But his lectures are very dry and boring. He knows his stuff but is not very engaging in his teaching style
Michael is a very nice person, but his lectures are very dry. I like that he handed out note sheets for each chapter.
Michael has an unbelievable mind. If at some point in my career I have 1/2 his knowledge, I would be very happy. Yes, his tests are all multiple choice but that does NOT mean they are easy. TONS of material.
Excellent Professor! Test were all M/C but they are HARD.. Study his notes, know them well and you'll do great! LOVE MICHAEL! The best!
Boring teacher! All quizzes and exams are multiple choice and difficult. Lectures guaranteed to put you to sleep.
Michael is the sweetest human being I've ever met! His lectures can get dry but he is super organized, he provides you with all the notes for the whole semester. He's approachable during office hours and in class so don't be shy. All you nursing students take 1191 with him!!! I would definitely take a class with him again. He's awesome !!!!!!
His voice is a bit monotone but the lecture content is interesting if you can get past that. Very helpful and clearly wants his students to succeed. I dislike multiple choice exams but the upsides are it reduces any subconscious bias in grading + he gets your results back to you promptly, so I didn't mind so much. Hardest class I've taken so far.
Very nice man, but I found his lectures hard to follow and the notes a little unclear and are without printed diagrams etc. His tests are all MC which I actually found more difficult since you don't have any other way to express what you know. He doesn't use the textbook, but I absolutely needed it to make sense of the notes.
I love michael! He's a little old school, but he is the sweetest prof and really cares about his students. He is always open to questions and tries to be as helpful as possible. He always made sure the class understood the material before moving on. As long as you study his notes really well, you will do well on his quizzes/exams. Take him!!
HARD CLASS. He's quite monotone, and the notes he gives skips a lot of details that you need to add in yourself. Exams are all MC but they are NOT easy. He's a nice guy, and tries to make sure everyone understands the material by repeating/going over the part you don't get.
Love this guy. He may seem very dry and boring at first, but he is a funny and educated man. Michael knows all the material very well. His exams are all MC but that is because he finds MC to be an objective and meaningful way to test a student's knowledge. Show up to class and be an active listener during his lectures. You will do well. Go Michael!
notes are very hard to follow because they are all words with no pictures or diagrams. Exams were multiple choices but his versions are hard. If you have to take his class, make sure you study harder to get a B, study reeeeally hard for an A. and if you skip class, better catch up the day after, if not you will fail since this course isnt easy
I like Michael! He has a great sense of humour & I appreciate that he doesn't spoon feed the material- it gave me a chance to hone my study skills. I finished with an A, but I worked hard for it. Do your work, study, get help when you need it- if you put in the work you'll do fine. BONUS: he grades on a curve, the ONLY prof I've had that does that
Dr. Bridges is extremely knowledgeable in his field of Anatomy and Physiology however his teaching style is not effective for students to learn. He does not engage his students, his lectures are monotone, he rushes through the material and gives the same weight to all material. His quizzes are extremely difficult. He curb marks.
His notes are too summarized (all in point form, no sentences at all). His quizzes are very hard (all multiple choice, for 1 question: 4 true and 1 false statement). You have to memorize everything word by word in order to do well in his class. His class was a waste of time for me.
Michael is a really caring and sweet prof. He has a monotone voice though but overall he's great when u have a question. The packages of notes is pretty heavy but theres plenty of room to write notes on the side. Overall really good prof, would take him again :). Just be prepared to study a lot!
Michael is a person of quality and is extremely intelligent . That being said , his voice is monotone and he talks WAY too fast, he is painfully difficult to follow . You are better off seeing him after class for questions, and if you do he will help! If you don't study I PROMISE that you will fail miserably. It is an extremely difficult course .
Michael is THE BEST !! Study HARD and you will succeed ! He is always so willing to help his students after class , sometimes he talks a little fast though... but he tries his best
Michael really cares about his students. The biggest challenge is how much new information is thrown at you, so much information packed into 3 months. Michael gives you note packages to help follow along his lectures. keep up with the class and you'll do great, pre-read and you'll do even greater because you won't get lost in lecture. Great teacher
Michael has a very monotonic voice and so its easy to fall asleep during his class but he can be funny too. His exams are easy but you've got to know every single detail of a topic. He replies quick and gives detailed information when emailed. TOTALLY LOVED HIM!
Here's what you need to know about Michael and his 1191 course: - He's nice and approachable - Fast-pace but boring/monotone lectures (rare jokes) - Almost all if not all his lecture exams/final are multiple choice (hard multiple choice; 5 choices, 4 truths 1 false), you HAVE to know everything Want a good mark? TRY HARD, READ READ READ READ!
Michael's lectures are dry and his notes are tedious (his exams are very difficult despite being MC so you must know everything in his notes). However, despite this, Michael is sweet and caring. He helps you out any way he can and is always willing to chat. You must commit 110% to this class. To sum up: hard lecture and exams, but great professor.
Here's what you need to know: -his exams & quizzes are MC (you must find the false statement), he has 4 quizzes total, lowest mark dropped -he grades on a curve -you must know all his notes to do well -his lectures are boring -he's very sweet and helpful -he tells you the exam breakdown (# of questions from each chapter) -if you ask, he will help
Michael is a nice teacher that wants you to succeed. If you're going to take his class, be prepared for a lot of handouts of notes on each of the covered topics. His lectures are fast paced but boring so if you show up to class, be prepared to be bored during the two hours. His quizzes are generally straight forward, pick the NON correct answer.
Michael is one of the most caring Bio profs you will ever get to the point that sometimes I feel bad for skipping his class. He hands out note packages and go really well with reading the textbook along with it. Tests are all mc inc. the final and he scales the class mark. Very wise and knowledgeable professor so don't be afraid to ask questions!
Michael is really caring and the nicest teacher ever; he wants students to do well which makes me feel bad for skipping sometimes. He does mark on curve, however exams are a bit challenging and you must throughly understand both the notes and textbook. Don't take this class if you aren't willing to spend hours and hours reviewing every week!
I took this professor for biology 1190 and 1191, and he is an amazing professor. Lectures are really heavy, but he hands out the package for you. All of the tests and the quizes are based off the packages that he gives. It is a really heavy course, so missing a day of studying is pretty scary. Overall, really good prof and would take again.
BEST PROF EVER!!! MULTIPLE CHOICE FOR THE EXAMS.. REALLY TRICKY BUT ITS EASY AS LONG AS YOU STUDYYY! Everything is based on his notes. STUDY EVERYDAY and you'll do well!
Nice guy! Very knowledgable but gives you too much information rather than simplifying it. This course is very heavy without that! Exams/midterms/quizzes are based on lecture notes (handed out). Multiple choice, but its choose the wrong answer (they are all right EXCEPT which one) & for one M/C question, each option is a different topic.
Michael is a very knowledgable and helpful teacher. He will explain the topic very thoroughly and answer any questions you may have.
Nearly failed the first time w/ a diff prof but retook it with michael and got an A-. Lectures can get boring since he reads off his notes but still helpful to attend. Quizzes & exams are based on his notes; MC but you still need to study hard. Doesn't take attendance so many skip but i feel bad. Hes also the only teacher who scales. 100% recommend
Michael is the best prof! he is so kind and caring. Lectures move very fast but he is always willing to slow down and answer any questions. Will talk to you for hours if you need extra help. Really wants all of his students to do well.
Very nice and very knowledgable but not a great teacher. Lectures are very dry, basically just reads off the notes which dont include any pictures. Tests are based on memorization of notes which is great if you have photographic memory. Also gives 10% boost on exams but still would not recommend.
Boring and monotoned. Students fell asleep in his lectures. Doesn't explain well he just talks about topics. Each chapter is 25 pages min of notes and the notes are terrible no value on the tests.
Bridges is quite the professor. Takes every minute, of each lecture to explain everything you need to know in precise detail. Additionally, it doesn't take a genius to fully understand and comprehend his notes. "Analyze not memorize" is commonly said. Everything needed to know for all his quizzes and exams are taken verbatim from his notes! aha
Nice and responsible professor. Will recommend it if it's your second time taking 1190, or you will need to self study. His notes are very organized but hard to read w/o any pictures. His lectures are not the best but you can still learn something if really pay attention in class. His questions are MC and only based on his notes which is not bad.
Easily the worst "teacher" I've ever had. The level of care he has for his students is disappointing. He will not help you so don't even bother asking. His tests are painful and unfair and he is not out to teach anything rather than stand in one spot and read his unclear notes. you have to READ his notes over and over, but even then good luck.
Michael is a wonderful kind teacher. Exams are MC based on his notes that he prints, and has ready for each class. Most test questions are in the format "all of the following are correct, EXCEPT". Reading the textbook helps understand his notes for more in depth topics. He adds 10+ percent to midterms/final! I would definitely take Micheal again!
Michael was very nice! He prints notes for you, and scales exams to ensure that his class average is always around 70%. His lectures were very boring but you'll get used to it. You have to READ tons and review your notes with the textbook right after lectures so that the info sticks in your mind. He also responds to emails quick so that's a plus!
He's such a kind prof!! LOTS of studying comes with anatomy but if you genuinely try hard and spend time studying you will do great! He curves midterms and finals to make sure that everyone passes. All tests and quizzes are multiple choice (really study details in his notes and always write extra info from his lectures bc it'll help with the mc)
His lectures are dry and youll have to completely memorize his 25pg/ch notes. Many people say his tests are MC, curved and all these are right except.., but its not as easy as it sounds. Everything looks right when youre under pressure. If youre good at memorizing little details, his test format might be okay for you. If not, take a diff prof
You can tell Michael has been teaching for many years and he knows his material. I personally didn't like the formatting of the course. I did not work well at all with his form of quizzes and test questions; choose the wrong answer. I feel I didn't learn much from his course. If you are taking other courses along with 1190, good luck!
Quizzes & testes are multiple choice. Only tests are scaled. Questions are long sentences w/ high detail. You have to find a minuscule mistake out of 5 options usually being one word that is incorrect. Unless you are a master speed reader w/ the capability to memorise everything the textbook says & spot tiny mistakes immediately, don't choose him.
1190 is a difficult course and requires a lot of studying. I bought the textbook because it was helpful sometimes but his lecture notes were very organized and usually in point form which was amazing.
I didnt have to buy a textbook because his notes are super clear and everything you need to know is on those notes. Yes, his tests are tough in the sense where one word is wrong but if you put the work into memorizing itll be worth it, you need to know all the material for 1191 anyway so either u memorize it now or later lol
His lectures are very long and quite boring, but straightforward. He does curve midterms
Although Michael is a kind person, his way of teaching wasnt for me. Hed read off the notes, which hed provide (nice part of his class) with no other incorporation of material. His exams were unreasonable, his layout of MC questions would be like: All these statements are true EXCEPT
Although he is nice, I would not recommend his classes if you are the type of person with a short attention span. You will fall asleep and get bored in his lectures as it is VERY dry. For you to pass this class you really need to study his notes word per word. I had to teach myself the materials since he just reads off a script in lectures. Boring.
Michael is a very caring/kind professor. Although his lectures tended to be somewhat dull, he was very informative! He also printed out his notes and condensed them which was beneficial for his exams. Also curved grades which was great.
