everyone always makes a big deal about econ teachers being hard. their curves are ridiculously easy to fall into a grade range of 2 grades higher, so earn an F and receive a C... earn a C, get an A, maybe a B at the least. take him- he's funny.

the tests are way difficult. The curve kills you in the long run unless ur one of the top students. The tests arent relevant to the subject matter and its hard to understand the questions. I suggest u take someone else, although he is a nice teacher.

He's really funny and I had a great time in his class. His lectures got boring at times, but I ignore the other people - I actually enjoyed his quaint stories and jokes. I didn't study or read ANYTHING the whole quarter and I passed with a C!!!

he's a funny guy, nice even, but his anecdotes are rarely insightful and often off-topic. what i found helpful was reading the chapters during his class lectures. don't expect him to cover or even summarize the chapters. just read and teach yourself.

The class is book and self-study based. The Class lectures hardly help. Bull often goes off on a tangent and tells jokes. not always bad to hear. grades on a curve. more time spent studying = higher grade. not a bad teacher if youre willing to work.

Mr. Bull is one of the coolest teachers I've ever had at De Anza. He is funny which makes his lectures interesting. However, you do have to read the book and work the study guides cuz the tests are not that easy. Read the book and you'll be OK

I have to admit this teacher gives the hardest test ever. Linear alegebra and o-chem tests are way easier than his econ tests. His lectures seldom help at all. He grades on a % curve, which is easy for a C or lower but really tough for an A or B.AVOID!!!!

Professor Bull is VERY smart about what he's teaching. The guy doesn't even use notes! He is tough BUT he grades on a curve that will help you so much. It might be very hard to get an A but a B or a C will not be hard to obtain. Take him over Mack.

If you are a lazy slacker, don't bother. If you actually want to learn, or you are a business major, accounting major, econ major, etc. - then you MUST take Bull. His class is a little harder, but he also works hard for the students. His class is the best for preparing you for university level work.

Mr. Bull is a very nice guy, but his lectures make you feel like you're back in jr. high, and he's incredibly boring. His tests are nothing like what he covers in class, but they're manageable with the curve. If you are an Econ major, I recommend someone else...but for GE, an easy, breezy class.

Bull is a cool dude. Don't need to show up for class, so thats a + if, like me, you dont like wasting your time at deanza. The curve is very generous, so if you attend class and pay attention you should be able to get a B just with what you picked up. His exams are based on lecture and study guide.

With the curve, if you do the readings and practice problems with the study guide, you shouldn't have any problem. He knows what he's talking about. Sometimes he'll drift off topic but what he says is often pretty important, even if it's not part of the class material.

PRETTY EASY IF YOU READ THE BOOK AND DO THE PRACTICE PROBLEMS. ECON IS PRETTY EASY COMPARED TO SAY CALCULAS. CURVE IS VERY HELPFUL, NO ONE ACES THE TESTS. NOTE THAT ONLY 16% OF THE CLASS CAN GET AN A. NOT GREAT AT JOKES AND ACTS GOOFY. OVERALL HE IS A GOOD ECON TEACHER. ONLY GRIPE IS THAT HE MADE US WAIT A HOUR ON FINALS DAY. HE SAID HE FORGOT..

Beware: he goes off topic ALL THE TIME!!! I think 90% of the time, it's not worth going to his class except to get participation points. He talks more about his life rather than Economics. As for his tests, study the book as much as possible. He was 1 1/2 hrs late to the final and still made everyone stay until they're done. Jerk.

Good Lecturer, clearly explains subject. A bit odd at times, but his anecdotes just about always have some relevance to the class. Just keep up with the reading and go to class and you're in the clear for an easy B or a fairly easy A. Study some and your grade is secure. Just watch how he drinks his water... a bit like Napolean Dynamite =)

Very clear lecturer. His overheads and detailed explanations are of great value. The part that sucks is he does not go over everything in the book. Study the book and study guides very hard for his tests, they aren't entirely easy. He doesn't go "off-topic" as much as he gave explanatory anecdotes. Really great teacher, you just have to study.

Mr. Bull is not for everyone. His tests are hard, and the fact that he doesn't cover all the work in class can really get to you. Besides that, Mr. Bull communicates clearly, has true insight of the field, and constantly makes connections between the book and current events. Do the reading each time and study HARD. Mr. Bull is a medium B/tuff A.

Not an easy one but really helpful. I don't major in econ and i am an ESL student but still got an A. His jokes are not that bad...and connects to the concepts( make it easy to remember). He really knows waht he is talking about. if you study hard you will easily get an B. He expects you to know the concept so well. Nice guy. Recommended anyway

The class consists of 4 exams, including a non-comprehensive final. The exams are graded on a curve, which means 75% of the class will end up with a B or better. He's a nice guy and is always willing to help students it seems. Tells really corny jokes though. Laugh at them to get on his good side.

this teacher is totally weird! He explains all the extremely simple concepts in class, so u think its super easy......but on the tests, its an extremely complex version of what he taught in class. i didnt learn anything...got a C both quarters.

I never went to class and did nothing for the first quarter and got a "C". I read all chapters and did my study guide and studied really hard for the second quarter and got a "B". It's really hard to get an A in his class because he grades on the curve.

Mr Bull: please stop WASTing first 15 minutes of class everyday talking about nonsense. I paid for the class to be informed on the subject rather than sitting in the class without learning much! He makes you feel good by writing out orderly notes. The class period generally is not well utilized. His jokes are not funny. He is a nice guy though.

AVOID. This teacher accepts no input from the class, there are no group discussions of any kind, and he silences people who are talking about things related to the class in order to speak about roofing his house. In addition to this, he reads right out of the book. DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER IF IT CAN BE HELPED.

Only take this class if you can stand hours of boredom, stupid "jokes", and a teacher who copies the book when he wants you to take notes. Also, the tests he gives are nothing like the notes you take... thank god for the curve. To top it off, he's the only teacher I know who is so boring that he has to bribe students to come to class with attendance points.

4 exams, which is total 240 pts, attendance worth 15 pts. no extra credit. no attendence required, no hw, no short answer question in the exam (all multi-chc). I earned two A in his classes, not that easy. if you are sure that you dont read and understand the book at all, dont take his class then.

If you really take notes and study the book, this is an easy class to get an A. When some things were not as clear to me; I would go into class early and have him clairify the subject. Some people really just want this to be an easy class, but it will not be, you will have to study.

RUN AWAY! I recommend avoiding all econ classes econ instructors at DeAnza. However, if you like to stretch twenty minutes of note taking over two hours, hear so many bad jokes your eyes bleed and down 5 Red Bulls in order to maintain a semi-conscious state, well then this is the class for you!

The tests are hard and all out of 60 questions. There are only 4 tests that your grade is based on plus 15 attendance ponts. With the curve my 26 out of 60 gave me the highest C possible. So this class is overall berable because of the curve. He is very borring and makes stupid jokes, but if u smoke this class is very amusing at times.

Very good teacher to take IF you want to learn about economics. He explains everything very clearly and it will make sense to you if you read the chapter ahead of discussion. His class is by far no easy A, but if you come out of his class with an A you can be sure that you have a good understanding of economics. Highly recommended for learners.

Mr. Bull's exam are pretty tough, but it is based on the text... if you read the materials you be fine in his class. There is a grading curve too and as the quarter progress, the curve drop. Personally, I recommend Mr. Rappaport because he is very professional and funny. i earned A's in both econ 1 and 2. take the 4 days a week class r u will zzZZ.

Tests are fairly easy if you read the text and pay attention. It is difficult to pay attention to Bull because he is the epitome of boring. He makes stupid jokes throughout the whole class. Going to bankruptcy court and laughing at the people in it is a form of entertainment for him.

For international students, not recommended, total 8 test, pretty tough, he didn't catch the time to review the materials,so you have to review and preview every chapter before take his class.attendance is mandatory,if you wanna easy A,take your chances.

His class was really boring, but he's a pretty good teacher. He gives four exams and if you show up everyday, you'll get 15 points of extra credit. His tests were pretty hard but he gives a fat curve. His curve really helps a lot, so just study the book and do the study guide as much as you can before every exam and you'll get at least a B.

Tests are unreasonably difficult! He lectures on everything except for economics. I am a straight A student and got a B in this class, even though I read each chapter multiple times! Take somebody else, you might actually get an A if you do.

His class grade system is the typical econ class grading policy. 4 exams (no quizzes) with no real final. Basically the final is the last exam which means no the final is just like the last test. He cracks jokes often which lightens the general mood of the class. I don't think his class is easy, but not hard either. Note: He dropped me by accident and it took slightly longer than an entire vacation to get it corrected since he didn't answer any e-mails or phone calls during our break between quarters. Bad!!!

Bull only teaches 10 minutes of the class. the rest of the time he goes off on tangents about irrelevant subjects either trying to make a horrible joke or to just ramble about other trivial subjects that you will never need to use in your life. He did not start teaching until halfway through the third day.

It is true, he does just rant for most of the quarter about unfunny jokes. you need to study the book to do well, but atleast the tests are exactly on the material from the book. He is very nice and if you ask a question in class he is very clear about answering you. He is there for his students. His class is relaxing. He takes roll randomly.

I'd recommend him. He is fair. The lectures DO relate to the textbook. HE IS FAIR because his tests cover both lectures and assigned reading. He offers good resources, his lectures are interesting (if you like economics) and he explains things well although he sometimes goes on tangents. If you're at school to learn, take him.

A typical lecture --> A good 20-30 min of random nonsense, w/ if your lucky 30 min of worthwhile teaching. But he will try to help, One jus' needs to make sure he has a strong understanding of everything before the test. If this is the Michael Bull I had back in 1980, I would hate to thing he became a boring speaker. This prof. was very interesting, inspiring and motivating to me. He made Econ interesting. Tough tests that's for sure. I have gone fairly far in my business career - his insights are great.

Strays away from the material in the book during his lectures often, but when he does this he mostly talks about actual economic issues in the world that relate to the book. Read the book and do the study guide. Learn the material and you will pass the tests. Tells some pretty corny jokes however he can be pretty entertaining at times.

If it comes to ignoring jokes that is not funny then this is your class. 3 test and a final all multiple choice. Each test he divide it so threre is 2 days to do one test.Test are curves so hopefully u don't have any smart people. Lecutre does not help so u need to read the book.

Nice guy. Horrible teacher! I feel bad cuz no one laughs at his jokes. lecture doesn't teach you anything, read the book! Buy the study guide at Aida's. grades on a lop-sided curve (As 10%-15%, Bs 25%, Cs 40%, Ds Fs and INC 15%) so the curve is really in your favor which is nice. but if you can avoid it, DON'T take this class!!

He's nice and loves to help his students. But, his lectures are super boring and he never finishes teaching everything in class so kids have to learn some stuff by themselves. Either way, he curves the tests so they're an easy A, and there's no final so the class is pretty much an easy A.

This professor is extremely dull. He makes lame jokes all class and stares at people when they don't laugh. I went to about 20 percent of the classes and got a B in the class. All you have to do is thoroughly read the chapter the night before the exam and you will score higher than most and get a good grade due to the curve.

To be frank, there are much better econ professors. The grading curve is out-there and the lectures are painfully boring. DEFINITELY a self-study class. The only points you get are for tests and attendance, which he takes randomly. Good luck.

I took econ 1&2 at the same time 2 different teachers, Bull was AWESOME!!! Go to class listen to the lectures, use the book and study guide and its a breeze!! He was so helpful and accommodating, there are make up exams and the final is just another test. The other people must be lazy... he was great!!!

His class is just lectures & 4 tests including the final. He's not horrible, he's totally helpful. DO the study guide, then use office hr & ask q's! Keep up w/reading, work on study guide, review before test = good grade. Im one of those students that have to try so hard for a good grade, but believe me it pays off!

One more thing, not only does your grade only consist of 4 tests, but 15 pts for attendance which is random, but well worth it. he takes roll when there is least amount of ppl, just go to class he's cool & you can use that time to read the book anyway. Bull rlly taught me what college is about(hard independent work) & i think I'm gnna major in econ

This class seriously made me hate economics and change my major completely. His lectures are useless and 99.9999% of the class is spent reading everything on your own. The only way I was able to get a B in the class was by using the online study guides and learn the material on my own. He's a nice guy but I learned absolutely nothing from him.

EASY A This guy was the easiest econ professor I've taken, all his tests are very straight forward and the curve helps even more. Curves every test. Only people who don't study are probably the ones giving him bad ratings.
