Very interesting teacher - enjoyed the lectures very much. Tests are semi-hard but you get a very specific review sheet with all you need on it and you get all the powerpoints online. Homework is mostly reading and a few short essays.

He can be interesting to listen to, but he often makes contradictions. Most of the class was really easy, but 50% of our grade was given in the last two weeks of class- a 10-pg paper and a final, but were graded by the professor instead of the TA- like all the other assignments were- which killed my grade, not being used to his style of grading.

I took this class online. There is SO much reading, so prepare for that. It wasn't the worst, but it was a LOT of work. You really had to work a lot to get a good grade. Each chapter had a short answer which was self-graded. Then 3 essays and 3 closed-book tests (with 3 more essays). Not sure if it's different in a lecture setting, but lots of work

Why does he only have a 3.9? I know. So yea, you read a lot in his class. But his lectures are SO GOOD. I was fascinated from start to finish. I almost got an A while skipping a lot of the reading. And the reading I did do was really eye opening. This was surprisingly interesting, funny, and even spiritually uplifting for a humanities class.

There were two BIG problems with this class: 1) It was like two classes in one, each with a significant amount of work required (math and humanities); and 2) The humanities content, especially for the last third of the course, including movies, movie clips, and literature, was inappropriate, in my opinion, with profanity and obscene content.
