The prof is great. No quizattendance. Very funny lectures. Critical thinking +++
He is a very kind professor that really care about students's career development. He answers all questions patiently and always try to help student. A very good teacher and tutor in my life!
The BEST Professor I've ever met. Can always learn new ideas from every lecture because his lectures are always following what's happening in the real world. In his class, those fancy financial models and equations are only a base where you start your critical thinking, but will never get you lost in Math world. Highly recommeded.
Very knowledgable professor and very kind to international students. Well-prepared lecture slides and has many profound ideas. The professor is hilarious and patient. You can ask whatever question you have. As long as you participate in the class, a grade A is quite easy.
Throughout the duration of the course, Professor Cheah approached the material with a firm emphasis on workforce application, thereby allowing my fellow students and I to immediately apply our lessons to our internshipsjobs. He also actively tried to assist students in finding internships and jobs in finance, reaching out to his network to help.
He was the best I've ever met. If you're interested in learning about how the real world finance works, please take his class. He's a good grader and encourages students to research. His cases were really helpful to learn about global markets. He helps students to improve their careers. I took two classes and wish to take more during the program.
Very nice and easy going! His class shown us real financial world and wall street experience. The most important thing is that Michael can always provide you new business ideas. Great class, Great professor.
He always makes boring class interesting, and talks a lot about practical experience.
Professor was great and had a great sense of humor. As long as you read and study for the tests, you will be fine.
Knowledgeable and inspirational - this professor doesn't stick to textbooks but teach in real world basis. Worth spending $4k taking this course
DO HIS HOMEWORKS AND YOU CAN LEARN!
Prepares noticeably well for class lectures. Encourages his students to go above and beyond in their assignments.
Professor Cheah is very knowledgable, and his class is a lot of fun. The right amount of reading requirements and assignments. If you get stuck, he is always willing to help you.
get involved into it
the grade up to your attitude
Professor Cheah prepare well for the lecture. The lectures contain many useful materials. Also, professor Cheah has ability to get everyone participate in the lecture because he is so funny.
I think he is a good professor, we will have presentation every class to train our presentation skill. No text book, many manuals he will deliver to us before the class.
a lot of practical knowledge to take away from this class. one of the best MBA classes I have ever taken. Professor Cheah has a very different teaching approach than the mainstream; lectures and assignments are very interesting and thought provoking. you don't have to be Finance major and still learn a lot from him...
Great lecture and many useful real life data. Barely use textbook but you need to know the concept of those chapter before listen his class. Lastly, never use, even touch your cellphone during the class.
He was very helpful and well organized. He tries to teach his course with real life problems, and wants you to practice on it. I definitely recommend Mr Cheah for this course.
great professor, always well prepared for each class and very patiently to answer the questions from the student. Learn a lot about the financial markets from his class!! !highly recommended !
Professor Cheah seems to know everything to me! I'm a tough student and often prepare difficult questions, professor always inspires me in the way I never thought of, more specifically in the way one thinks in the real world, not only in schools. I'll learn a lot in the program full of these best professors.
Very very good and experienced professor! He does not only teach you the stuff from the book but also tell you about the really world which is really useful to students. I am so lucky to take his class!
Really a good professor! Learning a lot of real liFe experience from the class
His projects are little bit hard but really useful for your career
Prof. Cheah works hard and has a good deal of real world knowledge in the financial markets. His class is excellent!
Michael use many graphs to illustrate the financial world in real life. His teaching strengthen my understanding of financial theories and also help me with my future career planning.
A real good professor who links the finance theories to the real world, and prepare students the sense of finance. Really inspiring.
One of the best professors i've had. He is incredibly knowledgeable in the way the industry works. Very engaging, points out and explains how the finance industry works in reality, brings in real world expertise, talks about recent news and he's highly motivated in your success not just in the classroom but in your career . Highly Recommended!!!
Mr. Cheah is not only a professor but also a mentor for his students. He shared his advanced knowledge as well as discussed real time events in the markets, which made students apply what they learned in the business environment while fresh and developed their skills.
I highly recommend taking a class with Professor Cheah. He cares as much about his students as any professor I have had. He truly knows what he is talking about and his lectures are very engaging. Participate in class and demonstrate that you are woking hard and he will definitely notice. Hilarious, entertaining, and full of insight.
Well, for some reasons my last comment was removed.. This is the best professor I ever had. He is super responsible, and is always willing to help his student not only learn essential finance knowledge but help his students to achieve professional success as well. His class is highly recommended, believe me, take his class and you'll not regret.
In my experience, one of the best professors at the school. Relates lecture material to the real world and encourages development of both soft skills and course material. Would take if given the chance.
Michael organizes many helpful real world material to the class. Although students may need 3-5 hrs per week for his homework, you will learn stuffs from his homework.
I think Michael is a good professor who relates real life economy to the theories well. After his lectures I began to get to understand economic policies and interpret charts. And reading cases are a lot of fun since you also get to know many counties' situation you didn't know before. The most important is the good grades.
Michael is an professor who has decades of experience in finance industry. He dedicates himself to bring real life situations into classroom. Presentation and projects are aiming at preparing each of us for future works. He who has struggled with presentations may not be fully equipped for the industry we're in. Lectures are challenging but useful.
Great professor, great class! If you do the best job in the exam, you will earn a prize! If you do worse than expected, you can ask the professor to gain some extra credits. He is a really nice professor, not tough to the students but help students learn.
Prof. Cheah brings his 30 years of valuable experience in global finance to the classroom. He explains the underlying fundamentals, goes out his way to engage students in the industry via Round tables with experienced individuals in the finance/ banking industry, interesting internships, workshops/ events. I've a lot of respect for Prof. Michael.
Michael is a good professor. And the course is not that difficult. definitely a good experience for me
This course was really great. With real world aspects and many cases related to emerging markets, we are trained to use the framework to analyze a country's potential investment possibilities. From this course I got a better understanding when I read the financial news and up-to-date issues. Highly recommended.
The course of Emerging Markets concentrates on macroeconomics. There is a final project and six cases in total, which are not very difficult. I have taken two courses taught by Prof. Cheah, who is fairly responsible and nice. He does not only provide enlightening guidance in class but also cares about students' careers.
Michael is the kind of faculty Fordham needs more. He is good at what he is teaching and beyond that, he really exploits every possible way to connect students to the practical world. Great teacher! You definitely learn things in class and you should be prepared for a lot of reading and group works as well as individual project. Don't miss this!
Very nice Professor!
Michael is the best professor i had this semester. He is experienced and professional. He does care us a lot. You have to read the textbook before the class, and he will talk about current issues in class. He has amazing connections, and he always encourages us to compete to win the chance to be connected with elites.
Lucky to have such a responsible professor. You can learn lots of real-world knowledge in Michael's class because he prepares updated information for students every week. You will have to follow up tightly with him or you may miss something. He is always patient with students, sometimes strict but I think it is good for me. A great professor!
Dedicated, insightful, inspiring and humorous, Professor Cheah is one of the best professors I have met at Fordham. He cares about his students and helps them out in anyway he can. His Emerging Market class is amazing, which focuses on macroeconomic side of emerging countries and introduces a comprehensive and practical analysis approach.
Professor Cheah is a great mentor for us, he did many things to let us learn how the real world works, and gave us great advices on our career path. He helped us know working professionals and lead us into real-world projects, and provided a lot of opportunities.
Professor Cheah taught us a lot and lead us into real world experience. Also, Professor Cheah helped me land a great internship. He will help students who work hard in Fordham will get great internships.
Professor Cheah is the BEST professor I ever met. He's hard working and kindness are well recognized by students and school. This year, he is the recipient of the Gabelli School of Business graduate-level Stanley Fuchs Award as well as the graduate-level Gladys and Henry Crown Award for Faculty Excellence. He really deserves the awards!
Professor is helpful with the subject as well as helps in giving you career advice. This subject needs input from student side as you need to work on a case study before every class . This way there is lot of learning as in each class along with professor's lecture on same topic.
This is a great chance to gain real stuffs from those experienced practitioners, at the mean time, build a strong and long-term relationship with mentors from GIC, FED Reserve, Moody's and so on. You as a group can be a investment management team, a consulting team, or a research group to work out the problem, and with right amount of guidance.
I've found Prof. Cheah to be very accessible and interested in his students' progress and development; as interested in you when you're in his class, as when you're no longer his student. I appreciate that his lectures are less textbook based and more case based. He's clearly well traveled and studied, and brings that into the classroom.
In this project, I grasped the whole picture of valuation of a stock, got the skills of figuring out the key questions by myself, learnt to work both independently and collectively. What's more, this real-world experience helped me perform outstanding in an internship. I'm so grateful for this precious opportunity that Prof. Cheah offered us!
Professor Cheah took much care of his students. He gave us many opportunities for research and networking.
Probably the best business professor at Fordham. He's done his research and knows his stuff. As far as tests are concerned it can be a bit rigid, but not in a really bad way.
I really enjoyed this class. Professor Cheah is truly inspiring and is great at what he does. He is clear with his delivery in class, and grades fairly based on the amount of work you put into your assignments.
Professor Cheah teaches a lot about the real market, which can help us understand what is going on in the market. Also, it is really useful in future interviews! And professor Cheah is really nice that he likes to share his experience and knowledge with us and to answer our questions out of class.
Michael's tremendous drive and ambition is a true asset for the MSGF program and its alumni network.
Professor Cheah's course is very inspiring. He give us experience about how to do your own research and how to outperform in real job. Initiative and creation is suggested . You will definitely receive good grade as long as you are devoted. And all you learn will be valuable when you get into job.
Professor Cheah is very knowledgeable and helpful. He helped me a lot during my process of applying for PhD program. Fortunately I received the offer letter from my dream school. He can be your best lifelong mentor.
This course is very useful and fascinating. Professor Cheah gives me the whole picture of how to analyze the data and the story behind the data. This course enlightens me a lot in this semester , and it is worth working hard on it.
Professor Michael is very friendly and knowledgeable. His experience in global investment is a great gift for his students. Also he is always willing to answers questions from students.
Michael Cheah is not only good at teaching class, but also provides lots of guidance and opportunities to its students. I received a research project from Michael, and it is under guidance of a portfolio manager of a large sovereign fund. The mentor is very busy but always willing to help. Our team benefit a lot in this project.
Michael cheah is rich in real experience and I learned a lot in his course, although he has quite a few assignments. But from the assignments, you will find yourself advance gradually which is very exciting. In the past I always find myself hard to understand the economic data but now I can get a good sense of it, and also I understand news better.
This is a class where we are able to get real-world experience under the guidance of some experienced mentors. There is real value added to the resume. Prof. Cheah is more than helpful and really puts his foot in our shoes. He knows exactly what we need as an international student and is more than qualified to guide us through whatever problems
Professor Cheah is rich in real-world experience and he always teaches and designs assignments layer by layer. You can advance gradually through practice and his inspirational guidance. Rather than give you fish, he teaches you how to fishing. Besides, he could be your life-long mentor on career choice.
This professor is very good.
Good feedback and always available after class. Very good mentor in both academic and career advice. Considerate for students and not difficult to get good grades if you put efforts.
I really learnt a lot from his class and it's different because he always try to tell us what real world is like and it's truly inspiring.
A very responsible and nice professor. A lot of practical knowledge and case analysis rather than the theories from the textbooks. The professor encouraged us to work in group to have discussion on the real understanding of the knowledge. He gave a lot of prizes based on your performance. LOL. Professor also gave us a lot of suggestion on life.
Professor Michael Cheah one of the best Professor in the MDGF program, he is an inspirational teacher, he makes things that seems really complicated so easy to understand, with real world case examples, your participation in class is Critical .He prepares students for a wonderful career in the financial world . A must take Class!!!
Professor Michael Cheah has been one of the best finance Professors at Fordham. As for his teaching methodology content was very relevant to current trends in global finance and the impact on various aspects of the economy. The material helps a student to understand the reasons behind outlook of global finance and helpful for application at work.
I took Global Financial Markets with him and decided to take both of his electives in the following semester. His class is very lecture heavy with a lot of material, but it is incredibly useful for anyone interested in a career in finance. Rather than regurgitating a textbook he spends his time teaching his own methods and secrets of the industry.
Global Financial Market was very good course to overview several financial markets and understand practical issues inside those markets in a short period. The lectures were based on handouts that contain so many statistical data, charts and pictures. I could understand how to look at those markets from the perspective of investor or analyst.
Professor Cheah is unlike many professors in business school in that he teaches material which is actual applicable to what you would need to know in a professional setting. He taught the material in a top down as well as bottom up approach and clearly taught all pertinent aspects of the global financial markets. I would highly recommend his class.
Professor Cheah is very knowledgable and always available through emails. I loved his Econtech class as it involved active participation and replicate tableau models on my desired asset. I was able to learn a lot from his class and will be able to use that knowledge in a real-life scenario
This is my second time to take Prof. Cheah's course. He always gives detailed feedback to each homework, which is very precious. And he answers every questions from students both on class and in spare time. Last but not the least, it's worthwhile to take this course to learn Tableau, which is a very helpful and handy software.
Michael Cheah is one of my favorite professors in Fordham. He shows a great responsibility to his student and course contents. I extremely respect his enthusiasm in teaching.
I would highly suggest taking professor Cheah's course. You will learn a lot from his course, not only all the knowledge you are gonna use when applying for a job but also the most powerful data visualization tool, Tableau. Take it, no regret
Professor Cheah is not only an expert of lecturing with interesting real-world examples, but also the best mentor you can have outside the class. He is not a professor who distances from students, and he puts efforts in bringing students all kinds of career opportunities. But be ready to work really hard and show your dedication towards learning.
the best professor! please listen to his advice

TERRIBLE !!! At first I enjoyed this class an the teacher was not even present all semester. did not release grades AT ALL ALL SEMESTER! class average for the final, was 1 24/45. it was made to fail. his wife passed away which is unfortunate, but since then he has been not in class, and made the exams impossible to pass. highest grade was a 33/45.

Dear Professor, Thank you for helping me with my lessons by going that extra mile as a professor and giving me extra classes after school. I appreciate it more than you will ever know. Thank you always for emboldening me, your positivity and encouragement brightened my days.
Michael provides internship opportunities to students. He helped me land my first internship.
I personally really enjoyed the class especially because the approach was direct and practical, which is something that I value and that I think we miss in our university.

Excellent professor committed to student outcomes.
Professor Cheah provides to his students a deep knowledge, both theoretical and practical, about financial markets. Moreover, is amazing his willingness to stay at the frontier of finance and he put a great effort to update his course material yearly, in order to provide the latest instruments to his students to master financial markets
Professor Cheah's class is truly outstanding. He consistently strives to give us the most current material and news in finance. With the substantial content he covers, there is a wealth of knowledge to gain. Also, his grading criteria are very clear, with exams and the final project accounting for 90%. I highly recommend his course.
I want to express my deep gratitude for his outstanding teaching. Prof. Cheah's engaging style helped me bridge the gap in my knowledge after a career break. His impact on our academic growth and personal development is truly remarkable.
Not accessible outside of class. Lectures were challenging to understand. Refused to help classes review for exams.
Professor Cheah is an exceptional mentor at Fordham, known for his practical wisdom and extensive financial expertise. I'm grateful for the once in a lifetime opportunity to learn from him. He brings immense value to Fordham and its students, preparing them well for future opportunities.
Professor Cheah is a fabulous professor. He taught FMR and EconTech, both were impactful courses for anyone eager to learn finance at a deep level. He always captivates the class, and gives practical advice and lessons that benefit students setting them up for a fruitful future in finance.
Prof. Cheah is a very inspiring and admirable teacher. Coming from little industry experience, I'm grateful to have witnessed him teach and be a part of one of his classes. His perspective paired up with his great story telling skills makes him a really good professor. I appreciate every class and moment spent with Prof. Cheah!!
Professor Cheah's GFGB6010 course was challenging but incredibly rewarding. His lectures were engaging, and he provided valuable insights into the finance industry. I found Unstuck ai and the free course materials helpful for study prep.
Professor lectures in macroeconomics are great for students with various levels of economics backgrounds. Tableau lectures help apply practical analysis work, which is detailed and easy to do for self-practice.
Econtech with Prof. Cheah, is a game-changer. The course gives you the tools to observe, decode, and anticipate what's happening in the world around you, keeping you ten steps ahead and giving you a real edge in investment thinking. It doesn't just build intuition; it sharpens technical skills too, with hands-on training in data viz with Tableau.

Took FMR A with Prof. Cheah. Loved this class! The professor is super clear, organized, and genuinely wants students to understand the material. Exams were fair and the lectures were engaging. Will definitely be taking FMR B with him and maybe his other class that is offered!
Prof. Cheah is really engaging and teaches theory and practical advice for a career in finance. FMR is an introductory course, but Prof. Cheah made it incredibly interesting, challenging, and fun.
Hands-on course on Investment Analysis with Generative AI by Professor Cheah. Focuses on practical application, strong prompt engineering, and exposure to major AI platforms. Assessed via one MCQ exam and an applied final group project. Highly practical and industry-relevant.
