Good, Funny teacher. Teaches with a lot of Math emphasis.
Confusing...
instructions unclear
Clumsy/Funny person in labs, gives hard questions and easy examples in class.
Assumes a lot of prior info, doesn't like answering questions, might refuse to
Confusing lectures, Unhelpful notes
His writing is very neat, very effecient on replying e-mail, helpful to students
Good prof, although his explaination isn't clear sometimes, but he is helpful
very nice+serious prof!! reply e-mail super fast!!! very helpful~ very neat note

Funny teacher. Final is hard.
Confuse lecture and notes but ez final
the exam questions are like the examples in text book boring lec unhelpful notes

Funny prof, great teaching.

his examples in class are really important, must be on midterms or final
he's pretty easy!!
nice prof. easy midterms. easy stuff if u love physics and has done well in phys 12 in highschool.
I found that the textbook was more helpful than anything he said in class, but I also found it difficult to pay attention. However, he's a funny and nice guy.

I took this course on Jan/2003, i got A- after all. However, I failed both of teh two midterms...he has a lot of ways to calualate the grades and took the best one....HINTS: read The text book, specially the exaples in the text. DO WELL in the FInal.
funny guy, bad english, easy exams
lame jokes, bad english, easy class, boring lectures. fell asleep everytime i go in there. i passed the course just reading the text book..
Uhh... so not "simpoh". His "exampohs" seemed to stretch on for hours. And the lecture was only supposed to be an hour.
Good Prof. He tries his best to be fair. But reading the textbook for any physics course is essential
I found his exams brutally hard. The class average was very low. His lectures are ok but long. Definately read the textbook. And "towtow" mean "total" in whatever language he's speaking.
Spends too much time telling people to shut up. Needs more examples. Needs to decide whether he wants to teach concepts or just teach towards the exams, cause right now, he's somewhere in between and it's confusing.
His phys 101 is easy, toooooooooooo easy. Exam questions can be found in notes and homeworks. And there's no need to read the text.
hot guy but "namely" crappy prof
Decent notes and exams. Super nice and willing to help.
very helpful and patient; clear explanations of theory in lectures; prepared; you must work very hard with the text book, notes and past exams to do well, though......wonderful prof
Good demos
very not good
He's okay.
Horrible notes.
He explains stuff very clearly. He is funny.
He's a good prof... willing to help and super nice, but he needs to crack down harder on the rude ppl who won't shut up in class. If you sit in the front and can actually hear what he's saying he makes most things pretty easy to understand.
SHUT UP JUST SHUT UP SHUT UP...thats the only thing that we hear. Doesn't respect students, his jokes are lame, english is alright. Examinations are pretty straight forward. Goes through a lot of material in a short time frame.
helpful, always welcome students to ask questions, and very patient
Only comes into the lab that you spend 4-5 hours doing for about 15 minutes. This is what you're paying for. The course itself is so poorly organized that it'd take a really dedicated teacher to clean it up... and Chen is not that.
A fairly hard course, but Chen made it so you could bomb a midterm or both midterms and still ace the course.
He give fair exams and reasonable schedule but writes horrible lecture notes... no use for him to upload to internet
Not helpful. Might as well be speaking Chinese because you can't understand a word anyways. He's very unpleasant and extremely condescending.
A prof who listens to student's complaint and willing to change his attitude.PPl who keep talking in class should learn how to respect a prof and other students. Before you judge a person, judge yourself first.
The physics aside, he's actually quite a good professor. He takes the comments from students into consideration. The exams are a bit tricky, but it's nothing new that he throws at you. Everything is either in the homework or he's gone over in lecture.
Made a frustrating class even more frustrating. Gives difficult questions and when he explains how to do them, he skips steps so you have no idea what he's doing. I now hate physics and will never take it again.
Notes needs more examples, too brief n simple. Explains very clearly when u ask him questions. Cares about students and tries to make it so we can understand as well maintaining noise level. Wish he spent more time on helping us with the lab(130). Fair exams..tho sometimes tricky.
I had him for physics 101 and 102, he is a good prof, exams are hard but fair. Notes are sometimes hard to follow, but offers extra help to people all the time.
Despite some troubles communicating in English, a good instructor overall. Occasionally gave interesting lectures.
Prof Chen is very helpful, willing to change his style to help students understand, and has a nice, easy-going personality... great professor.
Chen frequently retracts his statements in lecture which gives the distinct impression he doesn't really know what he's talking about. His exam writing skills need work: he makes exams harder than lecture or practice material and ends up severely scaling midterms and finals. 60%=A.
Not hard. Very understanding of students' level. Many of the exam q's exactly like assign. q's. Material not very organized, and ends up rushing through by the end of the course. Very helpful. Just do what he tells you to do, i.e. DO THE ASSIGNMENTS, LIKE, AT LEAST 3 TIMES, UNTIL YOU MASTER IT. You'll come out with at least B+ or A-, I believe.
His lectures are always filled with experiments, and that makes it so much more interesting! His lectures are concise and he is very helpful. Funny too :)
worts teacher i have had a uviversity. very unclear. i doubt he knows what he is talking about
Good, Fair proff.
Unorganized. Half the time, the assignments have absolutely NO relation to the lectures -- this is crucial since the lecture notes are highly needed since the textbook makes no sense. His lectures don't "flow", the labs are useless (and mandatory), the TAs in the open lab are essential for success in this class -- and they're great by the way.
As a person, I love this guy! As a teacher--I've vowed never to go to physics class again, because the textbook is 5 times better at explaining stuff.
Very unorganize. Unable to understand what he is trying to say. Not sure if he understand what he is explaining. Always tell us to refer to text book. It's more useful to read the text than going to the lecture. Sometimes makes stupid jokes.
awsome teacher! :D
this man cannot except the fact that there is more than one method to solve questions using the laws of physics. It's his way or the highway but the problem is his way doesnt make sense and is very unorganized. Lectures are useless and enjoys going on powertrips.
to be fair, yes it is sometimes hard to understand what he is saying. ppl complain his lectures arent totally connected to the capa. the problem is ppl rely too much on number crunching to solve capa. when you answer written q's on his exams, write out the full solution and not just 1 or 2 steps. overall a decent prof.
spends too much time solving equations and not enough time on the concepts!! Then wonders why his students spit back the equations!! Midterms straight forward/As he stated, final was more difficult/Nice guy, really cares/
hmm..maybe it's because I don't like physics...but i hated his class. Too boring...and very easy examples in his notes...very different compared to loncapa questions. But if you go for help, he would gladly explain it to you.
Easy examples on lecture notes but totally different loncapa questions. Expect u to know BCD afta he taught u A, Midterm avg r not high...but the great thing was he weight heavily on the final, which you have more time to do the exam...Midterm avg was failing b4, but afta final, i got b+, so dun get frustrated if he gets you on midterms
Dr. Chen is very willing to help, and his notes are clear and organize. Loncapa is difficult, but they prepare you for the final exam. Overall, an awesome teacher with a sense of humor.
Sooooo boring but it's also very easy if you have a decent background in physics from highschool. Put me to sleep many times.
Extremely helpful and well-organized notes. Exams are really fair, but you need to understand the loncapa well.
BOOOORING
Clear and helpful, but gives very tough exam questions.
Useless class lectures, EXTREMELY easy exams... i rarely even go to classes.. just studied off on my own
so clear, even with an accent... I only studied his notes and I got a pretty high mark... You can't skip his lectures though since he doesn't post his notes online
His Chinese accent isn't too heavy. He has a unique sense of humour. The lecture hall is huge and just avoid annoying group of people that you often see.
Great prof, emphasis on concepts > examples. As long as you understand 'why' you will do fine.
Easy exams - straight from hw. Give out good notes and examples. Barely used the book.
He's a great guy! Exams are really fair.. and are very much coordinated with the homework assignments. Make sure you understand the HWs though, because he won't post the solutions to them. But if you do the assignments or get solns from somewhere he sometimes put the exact questions on final from HW. 50% of our final was from HWs.. I got a B :D
Moved through the material very slowly, but thats cause he had a very dumb class to teach so he had to, very accesible for help, and explained things very clearly. Midterms were mostly made up of hw questions and final was basically the 2 midterms, plus some really hard questions, decent prof, would like to see more in class demoes though
Great Lab prof, answers any questions very clearly, and make sure you understand it. Opening lectures were a little long winded if you had done the prelab. Was really nice by letting people stay later even after lab was supposed to be closed, liked to threaten that the lab closed in a minute though, fair final basically right out of the manual
I think he is a good prof! He places emphasis on actually understanding the material rather than making you do all the number crunching. Exams are reasonable, and he replies to questions that we might have.
I do not recommend this teacher for those with a weak foundation in physics, grades are circumstansial, comprehension of theories is key. he does not teach, he does not explain things clearly, and keeps going in circles. I do not recommend taking a course with him unless u are independent and are confident in physics. if u have him, go to the TA's
Seems extremely interested in the course material, however was unable to come down to a beginner's level and convey the material effectively. Lectures were useless.
although u will get stupid mastering physics, it helps quite a lot. this prof is slow, very slow, he makes sure everyone gets it before he moves on, good prof. Mideterms are fair, time is fairly sufficient. and the final, a combination of exact midterm questions, iclicker questions, mastering physics and A LOT of questions from sample final.
If you actually pay attention, he does make sense. He was particularly helpful during office hours, while lectures were useful for reinforcing concepts after doing the readings. Overall not a bad prof, but if you're not pro-active in your learning or are weak in physics, you'll have difficulty. Midterms + final straight out of assignments.
One of the best profs I ever had. He is extremely helpful, fair exams and midterms. I love this guy.
He's a good prof and a REALLY nice guy.His midterms are very easy as the m/c is identical to iclicker questions and the written questions are almost identical to mastering physics. The final is abit harder but not by much.Still alot of the questions are similar to assignments but a few require thinking.
Extremely helpful, lecture notes will contain examples of every type of question you'll encounter. Very clear, provides non-calculus versions of equations and solutions. Assignments very fair, midterms all from previously solved homework questions, no surprises there. Formula sheet given for tests, and released ahead of time. Super nice.
Mumbler
hes one of those teachers that seem boring in the beginning but then after is actually quite interesting. He has a very serious sense of humour; he seems so serious when he jokes = all the funnier. And he DEFINITELY knows what hes talkinga bout. I could tell he knows all his topics INSIDE OUT.
The only reason to go to class is to for the iclicker questions. The multiple choice of his tests are basically the clicker questions and the rest is from homework. If you can do the homework questions you should do well on the midterms/final. For the final he reused some of the same homework questions. It helps to study some of his past tests too
I'm not naturally good at physics, but if I read the textbook before class his lectures made sense and were helpful. It was a good class overall, as long as I stayed ahead in the readings. His midterms are very fair. Expect 1 long-answer Q from Mastering, one from homework, and one from his examples.
How is his rating not a 4.5?! great prof! Midterms are straight from the iclickers and mastering physics and class examples. really wants everyone to do well and he has his hilarious "cant believe that old chinese man just made that joke" joke once in a while. I had little interest for this course before taking it. obviously not a super easy course
I do recommend him for others but uv got to understand that he does not have tolerance for stupid questions. I ended his class with an A there were a lot of haters in his class who failed. do all his hw questions and his tests are easy. 3 term tests and a final.
People, this class is a JOKE! The midterms were a breeze, I'd get them done in 25-30 mins and the final was assignment questions with different numbers. Study MPhysics, assignments, lectures and come to class. Dr. Chen's great, he loves physics and he loves teaching! An easy A is guaranteed if you take this class with him!
studied for the final for just one day and got B+. It's hard to fail this class. and I'm not a smart guy.
I give a 5 for every category. I took this course last summer 2011. I came back to write this because now I cherish everything dr. chen did for this class. Other profs' midterms and finals are way too complicated and mostly not focused on their own noted or homework assignment. Dr. Chen is the best prof at SFU.
Super nice guy, genuinely wants his students to do well. Midterms + final were repeats of questions in homework assignments/lecture examples. Physics is not exactly my forte, yet I still managed to do relatively well in this course because he made his class average very high (around B-B+). If you hate physics, try to take it with him! Best prof.
Hilarious and nice teacher! :)
Best prof at SFU - he genuinely wants his students to succeed. Uses smartphysics, and explains the concepts very well. Always helpful with assignments, and any questions you have.
Grade really reflects how much effort you put in. No trick questions. Midterms were easy breezy. Q's were everything you've seen before.(1 written each from lecture, MP, written assignments). Final exam was alot tougher. Class avg was in the 70s. A+ was 95%+ and an A was 90 and above. Best Phys prof at SFU for sure!
Explains concepts very well and made the material easy to understand (for me, at least). Love the anecdotes he told throughout the semester. Amusing. The final exam had the same questions from our midterms!
Unclear about anything that has to do with the class: notes, deadlines, criteria. Unable to explain examples; horrible at teachingexplaining concepts. May have been a decent prof a few years ago but now he's the worst.
He's a pretty good lecturer for those that are not good at physics. He spoils us students as a professor with all of his examples and notes. I would recommend taking a class with him although his tests aren't the easiest. If you understand everything you will do really well.
It was a really fun and engaging class. He definitely made lectures more enjoyable by adding in his little commentary and jokes every now and then. As for assignments and exams, none of that is really difficult and he tends to reuse questions from previous midterms and also gives a head's up on that too!
He's one of those professors that tries to be funny but it gets awkward and his awkwardness makes it funny. Physics in general for me is awful but Dr. Chen made the course more bearable and the midterms and final weren't too bad. The grade you get TRULY reflects how much effort you put into the class.
GREAT PROF, ALL HIS ASSIGNMENT QUESTIONS APPEAR ON THE MIDTERMS AND FINALS. TEXTBOOK ISN'T NECESSARY MAKE SURE YOU PAY CLOSE DETAIL TO LECTURE NOTES. IF YOU ATTEND LECTURES YOU WILL GET AT LEAST A B+ IN THE COURSE.
The best prof I've had at SFU. He explains concepts really well, makes everything easy to understand, half of the midterm questions were from assignments and MP, the final was harder than the midterms but still fair. He is very willing to help and meet outside office hours and is super funny. I wish he'd teach all physics courses!
Not very good at explaining concepts! He is all over the place and sometimes gets lost himself. He tries to be funny which is refreshing, and if you do the practice problems you will do well, but lectures are confusing!
Pretty good prof. Lecture is not super clear but read the textbook then still fine. His is pretty funny, good story telling in class. Exams are easy if you did sample exams + there are easy bonus quiz, same question from midterm just asking you to do them again.
Exam questions straight from the tutorials, old midterms and written assignment questions, so pretty straightforward. Curved the average at the end of the semester. Overall a fair marker, but make sure you know the stuff he emphasizes in class because it will definitely come up in exams.
His sense of humor is one where he doesn't try but somehow the entire is laughing. and we had a morning class. He made physics (which I already loved), a wonderful experience. Listen to him when he says "I reused exam questions....I use tutorial questions....I use lecture examples....." because he sure does!! Seriously loved him as a prof.
1. Heavy chinese accent, i mean HONGKONG style english!! 2. 50-60 years old guy, midterm is pretty hard, especially for PHYS 100 this introductory course. I have taken High school physics 12 then drop it, hard to catch up lots of homework Would recommend to take another prof if possible, well there isn't that much good physics prof here at SFU....
Dr. Chen is the best prof I've ever had. He really wants his students to succeed and even gives hints before exams on what to study.
Very nice Prof, his lecture slides were helpful and he posts the answers to lecture questions on Canvas. I highly recommend going to his office hours because he's really good at explaining various problems in detail. His tests were fairly easy because he would mention what to expect on the exam, which questions to take note of, etc.
He's HILARIOUS without trying. Makes physics enjoyable. Literally brought a barbie doll to lecture, put it on a Van de Graaff generator, and poked at it's hair with a stick. Made my day. He rambles a lot so lectures can get boring and hard to follow, but the assignments and labs are super helpful and if you do those you should get a decent mark!
Great prof that cares for his students. I highly recommend going to his office hours if you're ever confused because he can explain topics extremely well one on one.
Dr. Chen is a boss. Literally just finished up my degree, but was missing physics 221. Was taking two courses while working full time, so I didn't study too much. still got a c-. Granted, if I had actually spent the time to study you'll get a good grade (the topic is difficult). All in all, super swell guy.
I was always terrified of physics because I didn't feel that I did well in the subject in high school. However, Dr. Chen did a great job explaining concepts and gave hints about the exams. By repeatedly going over difficult topics and by making the class enjoyable, I found myself much more confident about taking my next physics course!
Dr. Chen is the honestly one of the nicest profs out there. Well respected, passionate, and clear and concise with explanations. He is very easy to talk to if you ever need to speak to him, and has a great sense of empathy when it comes to student deadlines and assignments. Stay on top of your work and you will do fine! Thank you Dr. Chen - w
Lectures are easy to understand, most info to study for midterms & finals are on the lecture sides. Lab & assignments are relatively easy.
Very funny
Makes pre-lecture quizzes, good way of encouraging you to read content before lecture, easier to understand and ask questions. Spends a long time on one subject, sometimes gets confused or goes off track. Uploads lecture note slides beforehand. Recommend having device with the slides during lecture, go ahead in notes if you already understand
amazing prof, gave valuable and useful information for future physics courses. an awesome prof to have if you want to gain a strong physics foundation!
Michael reuses a lot of questions in his exams. Studying his lecture slides and understanding the questions he goes through is enough for this class. His classes were fun, although he gets distracted easily. He moved slowly through concepts, and made them easy to understand. If you're able to do assignments and homework without help, you'll be fine
Michael is a good prof, physics has always been one of my worst classes but he makes it bearable and doable. You have to study and keep up with all the assignments but if you do everything that's assigned and look at the lecture slides, there won't be any surprises in the exams and you'll get a decent grade
Michael's an awesome prof. He may be a little boring at times but that's because the material is dry. He is actually pretty funny if you talk to him outside of class. Tests were extremely straightforward, expect tutorial and clicker questions to be on there.
A very nice and funny prof. He makes sure you understand and checks in with the class to encourage questions during lectures. Lectures aren't that interesting but it is bearable. He is kind during office hours and is very fair. His exams are mainly based off of the assignments and previous practice exams. Textbook is not really needed.
Gives informative and sometimes funny lectures and Michael is extremely helpful during office hours. As long as you keep up with the homework and lectures you should be fine in the class. Most of Michael's exam questions come from the online, tutorial and written assignments. Make sure you do the homework thoroughly and ask questions.
Opposite of about every tag, he is quite a simple-minded boring prof and you tend to laugh at him, not with him. At times hard to understand and i found myself learning better from the power point slides. Only reason i went to class was iclickers. Overall he was not difficult, but i probably didnt study enough, self practice is recommended.
Micheal Chen was a great professor. Phys 101 is not a particularly interesting class, but I didn't mind going to his lectures at all. His homework problems are easy to follow and he used them for both midterms and the final. If you study those and know the old exam questions well you will do great.
Michael really knows what hes talking about except I would really appreciate it if he explained material in a clear and concise manner instead of mumbling about random theory in between explaining basic concepts/equations. Most problems are already completed via powerpoint so it's hard to follow along.
He mumbles so much and tries to explain things which ill give him credit for but it just doesnt get through to so many students. It's kind of a struggle to be in lecture sometimes.
Michael chen is the man. Great lecture notes and very fair exams. Keep up with the material weekly by doing sapling and your gucci
Best prof ever. He was so funny and he really wants all his students to do well. I really enjoyed his lectures and he's super passionate about physics!
Although he has a thick accent, Dr. Chen is still an amazing prof. His lectures are very clear and he encourages people to ask questions to make concepts more clear. Always stays after class to answer any questions. Exams were straightforward and fair. He is also very funny.
His lectures are long and hard to follow, his examples are unclear and he goes through everything too quickly. He may be better in person, but due to COVID, and online lectures, this has been an awful experience. I asked him for help, and he then asked me if I could drop out. That should be enuf.
Gives long winded explanations that make understanding super hard. At beginning of semester he seemed super nice, but got worse over time. Makes students feel stupid for asking questions and doesn't explain marks/just tells us to look at the answer key even tho that doesn't hit specific problems we may have. Doesn't listen to us and laughs at us
He is hilarious and quite the quirky guy. While I did have to teach myself the material, the concepts are pretty straight forward. He held office hours the day before every midterm and would stop during lectures to take questions. His tests are fair as long as you study and understand the examples discussed in lecture and tutorial.
Worst prof ever. Lectures are hard to understand and makes the concepts even harder than they are. Like the other ratings he makes students feel stupid for asking questions and laughs at us. His exams are hard and he makes physics so HARD TO UNDERSTAND. Just get ready to teach yourself.
Good teacher overall, lectures might feel boring but he does explain ideas very well. Uses iclicker questions to keep people engaged in lectures. Exams contain standard physics questions with no surprises. Actively tries to maximize your grade by offering a choice between multiple grading schemes.
Michael is the best! He's super funny and I enjoyed his lectures. Does not give much homework. Most of the questions on exams are derived from tutorials, sapling and the written assignments. He did a really good job teaching the material. I definitely recommend taking his classes!
Lectures are quite confusing, does not go over solution of examples clearly and just posts the summary. Office hours before exams are hardly any help
very good prof for phys 100. found the exams rather straightforward. as long as you do the sampling practice and keep on top of the readings you're going to do fine. Material is straightforward and it is phys so need to obviously practice some questions as well.
Phys 121 is a super tough course. Michael Chen is a decent professor. Mostly because he always wears the drippiest clothing, he's a 50-year-old that looks like a 2010s doll boy. Though he marks iclickers on correctness and the iclicker + achieve is worth over 20% of your mark so its tough. The midterm exam was super easy though, so all evens out.
horrible, the professor does not teach properly!!!! stay away at all costs
Exams were very fair which I really appreciated considering his confusing lectures and slides. Be prepared to teach yourself throughout the course. Make sure to practice tutorial questions and previous exam questions as they are similar to the exam questions he gives.
Michael literally copies and pastes multiple choice questions from lecture slides and homework problems directly onto exams. Easy peasy marks. Absolute GOAT. Take a class with him if you can!
This content in this class is not straightforward and I think I would have failed if I didn't have Micheal as a prof. Super excellent lecture with hilarious jokes, exams are fair, and the grading scheme is evenly distributed. Pay attention to the tutorials and any lecture problems he goes over! Highly highly recommend this prof!
Amazing, plain and simple.
I'm gonna be honest and not exaggerate anything- this prof does not know how to teach
shits free if u study and dont fall behind; exams are super easy, he gives old practiced midterms/final exams online which are pretty much the exact same one youll take
I stopped going to lectures cuz genuinely his tone of voice would put me to sleep. all his midterms and finals are practically identical to his old 2018 practice ones so study those and you will do good. his lectures are optional for a reason. I stopped going and taught myself the material and it worked better for me.
Ngl I barely listened during any lecture and just read the textbook. Midterms were super easy, questions were practically identical to past midterm questions. Hilarious, made everyone laugh a lot. He finished teaching the course like two weeks early. Chen was great
he's nice
Michael Chen is the goat that's all that needs to be said. Fair midterms and fair final, you will never see anything beyond the scope of the material seen in class, homework and tutorials. This class is purely effort dependent. Also, Michael is a funny, he played the piano before a midterm to get us ready. Lectures are dry though, not gonna lie.
Thanks to professor Michael Chen, I have finally received my credit for physics 121 on my second attempt! He curved grades in the end allowing me to pass with a c-! Failed the final with a 32% and still passed! Michael Chen THE G.O.A.T
not an easy grader. tests are usually from homework or tutorial problems but the hardest ones from there. so u wont see anything unusual but definitely practice them. also very repetitive on questions so previous year papers are a way to go too
pretty good prof he explains things really well just do the practice exams because they are exactly like the actual exams
Michael Chen's class is a mixed bag - lectures can be hard to follow, but his exams are very fair. Practice questions are key, and Unstuck ai was super helpful for test prep. Overall, not too difficult if you put in the work.
His accent & English pronunciation might be difficult to understand at times. Lectures are straightforward but some of the materials are easier to understand using other sources. Just make sure to do your homework and understand the concept, and you will be fine. His tests are very similar & sometimes copy and paste from homework & past exams.
He's a good guy in general and sometimes funny in the lectures. The thing is he doesn't do the calculations or doesn't go in depth for the problems. I did a lot of self study as my physics is not good. His exams are easy and so much like his lecture examples.
Dr. Chen is an alright professor, however he is sometimes unclear during lectures and doesn't explain concepts fully. First midterm was very similar to the practice midterm given, second midterm was the complete opposite. The final was fair in my opinion. Class was scaled one letter grade at the end. Average was a B-.
Attendance was very low, but he would often say which questions would be included in exams during lectures, and always had small demos, so I recommend going to class. Written questions on exams were often very similar to questions in his slides or questions from the achieve homework.
Michael Chen was a great guy himself, while it was hard to follow through with his lectures due to his accent he genuinely wanted to see his students succeed in the course. There is lots of homework so try to stay on track of that. He omits your midterm marks if you do better on the final and his exam written questions are from his lecture slides.
Dr. Chen is a very caring prof and I wish I could take another course with him again. I think he may have unfortunately retired as he is no longer listed the SFU physics department. He made awkward jokes which were pretty comical at times. The achieve homework was a lot at times but I think it makes sense for physics. Love this guy, he was so chill
He was a headache to understand in lecture with that thick accent. No wonder 2/3s of the class stopped coming after midterm 1. His class also didn't have any iclickers like past physics classes making the final worth more. While he was a kind guy, I would recommend taking it with a different prof as all the material will be self taught
Horrible prof, no other words...
Bro doesn't scale and removed iclicker to put more weight on final. Shame.... physics hard enough
The goat. Funny and fair. Fair grading schemes and fair content on exams. W Chen
