He subbed in my class for one day and I wish I'd taken his class in the first place! He's very nice, explains things so you understand, doesn't rush. He lets the class' understanding pace the class. A good choice for begining/returning math students.

Wonderful teacher! Goes step by step, he is clear and concise and provides the most efficient way to solve problems. His classes are always full and very low drop rate started with 45 students, 38 will take the final. He really wants you to do well, always has time for questions and really keeps his office hours.Highly recommended

Thsi professor is teh BOMB.. Had him as a sub in Math 81, and then when I saw he was teaching in Spring 2006 for MAt 31, I did not miss the oopurtnity to get into his class. He is just AWESOME

Michael Chitgar is probably the best teacher I have had to date. He's highly intelligent, conscientious, and extremely fair to all his students. His tests can be a a little challenging, but he always provides partial credit so that missing a small detail here and there will not sink your grade.

Michael Chitgar is a fantastic Math professor! He is very clear,organized and meticulous. His fun sense of humor keeps your interest in, what is for me, a very tough subject. He is also very kind and fair in his grading giving partial credit for showing all your working. Please take him if you want to succeed.

He gives you a lot of homeworks. a half of his class got A,B,and C but another half got D,and F. His tests were not that easy. you need to study.But I think he is better than other goofy math20 teachers who teach at night.

He REALLY is passionate about math and about teaching in general. His lectures are clear and to the point, and he does a great job at demonstrating difficult concepts. My ONLY complaint is that he is a little hesitant to go over problems people have with the homework, but that is probably because everything is so crammed with the winter session.

Professor Chitgar is an extremely intelligent man. He knows his stuff, and his teaching method is one of the best. He gives you extra credit from doing your hw, and gives you partial credit for everything. As long as you try, he'll give you credit. He's also very kind and funny. Probably one of the best teachers at SMC.

Awesome teacher. Clearest algerbra professor I've ever had. He sometimes shows you methods of performing the equations that are faster and easier than the book's. If you take good notes and do the HW, you will get an A. He is hilarious.

Professor Chitgar is an excellent Math teacher. He came recommended to me by a former classmate and he surpassed the referral with his relaxed lectures, silly quips and patient delivery. I will take him again and recommend that anyone who has trouble with Math take him for the foundation. You will come away with more self confidence.

I knew some people from high school who took this class too and they thought they could just miss days and still pass. nope..go to class, ask questions (he welcomes them)do the homework and study for the quizzes...which only have like 3 questions..And you should have no problem..AGAIN great teacher

I took Math 20 with Prof Chitgar 1.5 years ago, and I am now taking Math8. He is truely an excellent professor who is able to give you a good foundation in Math. Be a sincere leaner in his class and you will benefit a lot. Ask questions, and be diligent, do not fall behind in his lectures. I REALLY wish he taught Calculus!

best math teacher I've had in SMC so far. he's willing to spend time after class explaining the examples that he already went over during class.just do the homework and attend the SI session and you'll be fine. i highly recommend this professor for math 20.

You have to work not too hard to get an A but you do have to work and you'll get an A if you do all the hw which is from the textbook, pay attention in class, ask questions, and take advantage of his office hours. The exams come straight off of the notes and hw. 4 exams and final and drops lowest exam score. Overall, take his class!

WHY WHY WHY does Chitgar NOT have a normal DAYTIME class?!?! I had him for a sub several times and I UNDERSTAND him perfectly! I want him for a daytime class he has pure nighttime classes for 81 -.- I AM HORRIFYING at math. For those who can take him you SHOULD!

Took him in summer after withdrawing in spring (failing), and I was scared to take a 6 week course since I'm horrible at math. After this course, I have never understood math so well in my life. He taught me all the foundations I've been missing for years, and math is not scary anymore! I'd take him a billion times again if I could! Recommended!

Very pleased. He is clear, patient, and encourages you to ask questions. He will answer any question, even willing to go over fundamentals of arithmetic if necessary. If you sit in the front, you basically have private instruction. However, the tests and final can be extremely difficult. You must do all of the homework in order to succeed.

He is an amazing professor, he will work with you...he want's his students to pass. That being said,he doesn't hand out A's so stop complaining about that. Do your homework (it will help a lot) Go to SI sessions if you get them. Go to class he covers a lot everyday so don't think you can just miss a day or two every week.

He is a great teacher! He is very clear when he teaches. Everything that he goes through in class is on the tests, he won't give you questions on things that he didn't go over in class. If you do all your homework he may even give you extra points. I really recommend talking his class.

He's an incredible teacher, and the main reason I don't dislike math anymore. The lectures are clear and straightforward, and he is very open to questions. Not the easiest A to get, but if you do the homework (which he assigns a very reasonable amount of) then it's not that hard to do well. Has a good sense of humor, which is a nice change of pace.

This class was decent, comfortable. Straight-forward lectures. Highly encourage questions. SI sessions are recommended if you're lost. You need good studying and work habits, he grades solely on tests (only 5 tests). Homework only counts for extra credit! Takes attendance seriously. Notes will save your life. A little boring but bearable.

Good math teacher. He mixes humor with lectures, so it made it a bit fun to learn the material. Lectures may go a bit fast, but will answer your questions, and slow down a bit , if you ask. Lots of homework, worth extra credit,not a large part of the grade. MUST STUDY

4 test + final (cumulative). Out of those 4 test, he doesn't add the test with the lowest score to your grade. He cares a lot about his students and encourages questions. His test are difficult & although homework is not mandatory I really suggest you do it cause if you do he will add points that bump up your grade if you are borderline.

He's honestly inspired me to follow my dreams and hes the funniest professor I've met. But honestly he stresses the fact you should be able to understand a majority of what he goes over because most of it are skills you should've learned in high school or in previous classes at SMC. Professor Chitgur is a great guy. The course is pretty self explanatory. Do all of your homework and you will get extra points for it. His tests are more difficult than the examples in class but if you understand the fundamentals there's no reason you can't complete the problem. Show you know how to do it and you'll at least get partial credit.

Prof. Chitgar is the most geninue guy. He really cares that you do well in the class, and he will help you get the grade you want- you just have to talk to him. His test are based on the lecture. the professor was very accomodating during covid-19. knows the book inside and out. If your struggling just asks for help and he will give you a bunch of resources to better study. overall a great professor. really cares about his job and takes teaching seriously. I've always hated math (more of a reading/writing person), and after putting in just a little effort this professor helped me to love algebra. Smart, gentle, a genuine love for teaching, patient and flexible. Geat person. Will never make you feel stupid for any questions. Professor Chitgar does not play any games. His class is tough and relies mostly on tests which are also tough, a lot of the times a question will be on the test that he never went over. Overall hes an okay professor, willing to help and does exam reviews. Would I recommend this class ? Probably not.

I had the opportunity to have professor Chitgar for multiple Math classes from Math 31 - 26. He didn't expect us to know the material so he taught it with steps and great examples. I was really terrible with math and he gave me the confidence I needed to continue my mathematical journey. Thank you professor !

He somehow relates the math to real world scenarios. I feel blessed that I stumbled upon his class. The material is not easy by far but it's doable if you work hard and do the homework because it helps you understand the exams better. Begged him to teach Math 28 but he was already teaching Math 26 :(

Great professor but his grading system is not for me. 90% of the class is graded on tests, which I think is too much. I pass/no pass'd the class and I am not sure if I will pass the class. His lectures are amazing though, with a better grading system he'd be one of my favorite teachers ever. The homework is also more than it should be grade wise.

Professor chitgar is great, unfortunately the timing of his class was not the best option for me which lead me to drop the class. Keep up with his lectures and you'll do fine on the test. The imbedded tutor really helped out a lot too. If you communicate to him about any concerns of the class or grade is willing to help you.
