Michael is an awesome teacher! The class is really easy, his expectations are very clear, he's very helpful outside of class, and he really knows what he's talking about. The lectures are interesting and definitely worth attending. I would highly recommend taking him if you have the chance.
this man is amazing, incredibly well spoken and knows his stuff, articulate and gives so many interesting information in class relating to IE. tests arnt that difficult and homework is graded on completion not accuracy. 1 group project not too hard. does pop quizes as attendance so make sure you go to class. take him hes awesome in class!
First FSE 100 Exam is really hard - be sure to memorize steps of EP. If you do well on the two exams and self-report, you'll do well in the class. If you get a C on the first exam like me, not so much. C was the class average. Exams are almost impossible to make up for. No problems with group labs though.
Clough is fantastic. Really funny and really easy to talk to. There's two exams, neither of which are that bad. Just review his powerpoints and you'll do well. Labs are much easier with him it seems than with other FSE instructors. Very quick grader. You know instantly what your grade is. Just all around a great instructor. Definitely take him.
The two exams can make or break you, look over all the slides and make sure to go to the review days Clough is clear-cut with what he has on the test. Overall Clough is a really inspirational guy, and his experience shines through during his lectures. His class is to look forward to, and he's easy to talk to and gives great feedback when asked.
He's alright. The labs are super important but the lectures are meh. I had a pretty decent group but you might get screwed over with a bad group all semester. I disagreed with how he graded a lot of my assignments so I feel like he's a harsh grader.
He is a pretty chill professor. A lot of the grading comes from the labs, so how good your groupmates are play a big role in your grade. The tests were harder than i expected, but still passable.
Incredibly smart and a great speaker. His FSE100 course is easy yet memorable (the group projects are awesome). He's very knowledgeable and experienced when it comes to engineering, and he will make you really appreciate engineering as a whole, no matter what field. He's also super chill, you can talk with him about anything.
Easy class. Really learned how to work well within a group. His tests aren't hard, but they're harder than most people expected. Don't assume that you won't have to study. There were only two tests (a midterm and final) and the rest of the grade is based on lab assignments and group evaluations.
Most people like him. I would take it with someone else the tests are impossible.
Great teacher. Second test was tough (and if you don't study, so is the whole class), but I never felt like I was unfairly graded. No mandatory homework. Gave quizzes for EC. Content is useful and practical, without straying too far from theory. Last third of the class is basically dijkstras/other algos so super easy for CS folks.
his Tests are Tough!!
lectures are not clear, usually he goes out of the lecture materials. Worst teacher in Industrial Engineering. Tests are really hard, I will try my best to avoid this guy through my major.
He tries to engage students in his lectures so his lectures are somewhat interesting. He isn't really specific when it comes to lab instructions. His quizzes are a lot more tricky than they should be. He deducts a points on an assignment based on whatever your group rated you.
Great professor, I liked him a lot. funny and good lectures. Didnt go to too many lectures though. Exam material is easy if you have some logic. Study some and you'll have no problem getting at least a B in class. project is fun. if you dont enjoy this lecture or the material consider changing ur major out of IEE. GLHF!!!
Wasn't a big fan of the lab section, but the lectures were amazing. He's hilarious and tells good stories.
Best teacher I have ever had at college. I would highly recommend this teacher. The people that didn't pass his class are either incredibly stupid or just didn't study at all. All of the tests are 4 questions, usually just the same as the review.
Great professor, I liked him a lot. funny and good lectures. Exam material is easy if you have some logic and read the powerpoints. Study some and attend with your group and you'll have no problem getting at least a B or even an A in class.
He's a great professor, very clear and easy to understand. No homework, a group project (easy), three tests and a final.
the quizzes are very tricky, its big portion of the total grade which actually puts your grade down.
Amazing professor. All you have to do to get an A is show up to class so you can take the pop quizzes, be on time because he won't let people sometimes take the pop quiz if they come late, listen, and make a cheat sheet for the tests. He gives you a full page front and back. Much real life application. Ask questions in class, he appreciates it.
Dr. Clough's FSE 100 class was pretty fun. Clears any doubts during the lab. Responds quickly to email. Attendance is important, especially for the lectures since there is usually a participation bonus. Quizzes are tricky, but everything is based off of the lectures.
Amazing professor, hilarious and laid-back, with an unreal amount of industry exposure for his fairly young (mid 30s) age. Lectures are essentially optional, though recommended for his nitpicky quizzes. Labs get to be quite long later in the course, but he will always help out, and they're more than enjoyable for any engineer.
Really good prof!
This class is dreaded by non-IEE majors but Clough by far is the best teacher to take this class with. He is available everyday for office hours and he always responded quickly to my emails. He makes the lectures easy to listen to and as long as you do the homework and study hard for the exams there no reason you can't get an A or B. A true homie!
Amazing professor! Accessible outside of class, makes class as interesting as possible while making everything clear. Do and more importantly, understand the homework. Quizzes are based on the lectures and homework due that week, so go to class. Then tests are based on homework and quizzes. Test 2 is pretty tough though, so make sure to study!
The lectures are helpful to attend, but you can get by without going to them if you do your homework and consult the textbook while doing so. He runs the class exactly like Dr. Chattin (same material), so you get note sheets during your exams, which make them pretty easy if you know how to use all your equations.
Dr. Clough is a great professor. He is clear on what he expects from you and is willing to help without giving you the answer directly. The lab part for this class is 3 hours in groups so it really depends on what your team is like (they are randomly asigned).
TAKE HIM. I have had Clough now for IEE 210, 380, and 376 and he hands down is the BEST IEE professor out there. Build a good relationship with him. He makes the material more understandable. Highly recommend if he offers the class! You have to put work into his classes but you will actually understand the material and love the IEE because of him!
Dr. Clough is a funny guy. His class is pretty similar to all of the other professors but he likes to be involved and doesn't mind if you're funny and joking around as long as your get your work done.
AMAZING professor! We had no final exam or powerpoint presentation (for the final project). Super easy compared to most other teachers. Also, offers a 5% percent extra credit (attend lectures to get the extra points!).
He's one of the bests out there! He keeps his expectation very clear. He will teach you the basic engineering you need to know and never ask you to do any extra, unnecessary things like other professors do, He is also very helpful and approachable during labs. Would go out of his way to help if your group is having any technical issues.
Clough is a funny one, Ill give him that. But more then that he is a great professor. He explains things in class well, doesn't throw crazy curve balls on the tests. He is fair when it comes to grading! Easy A or a B if you put in the effort and go to class. Tests are easy to lose points on, do the homework and Weekly quiz, they add up big time.
Clough is a great professor, but the way the class is set up is not ideal. The testing environment is stressful and there isn't any partial credit from showing your work. The online homework is a pain, and the lectures are a bit rushed. Otherwise, he is great at answering questions and caring about students
Best Professor ever!!
You must show up to class. Project Spyn was difficult but if you put in work and showed leadership amongst your team members, he put this into consideration for your individual grade. Stay on top of your work with Project Spyn and don't waste time and you'll be fine. Is very entertaining and easy to talk to.
I strongly recommend taking him for the IEE376. Class can be tough for some people, highly demanding in the Summer semester, but everything is doable. Group project, hw, weekly quizzes can increase the grade. Exam 1 is not that bad, just study the material. Exam 2 and Final were challenging! He is extremely helpful!! Geat Guy!
Best guy to have FSE 100 with. LOved this class
Had him for ASU 101. Made the class amazing!
I would take him again a million times. Very helpful if you ask questions, he wants to make sure you really understand. Go to office hours. Two weekly assignments which will always have questions from past chapters to practice for the final exam. Try to do good on the first exam because it only gets harder. Go to class, notes are posted incomplete
Clough is a great professor. He's accessible outside of class and his lectures are interesting and make the material easy to understand. My advice for the class is to be sure to study solving word problems without being told which concepts/formulas to apply. Homework problems explicitly told what you were doing, quizzes and tests did not.
Clough is hilarious and definitely a good choice to have for FSE 100. Project Spyn is somewhat difficult, depending on your group. If you put in the work and effort then you are guarenteed a decent grade.
Very funny, personable, and knowledgeable. Is very clear that hw and open note quizzes make up the majority of exam + cheat sheets. Lectures very well, always open to q's and is clear. Downside is u have to fill the notes in urself (fill in blank). Class is sneaky hard. Exam 1 easy, 2 is hard, final is harder, group project easy. Still a math class
The lectures are amazing. he knows what is he talking about and very fun professor. be careful that his test are so hard which means you have to pay attention to every single detail.
Dr. Clough is a very smart teacher, he knows his stuff and has an answer to any question. Great lectures that make you understand, don't miss class if you want to pass. Exams are HARD, heavy homework load, weekly quizzes which are not too bad. The only - is that he is not super fair and doesn't treat everybody the same, but I would take him again.
You have to show up for class to complete class notes, but even if you got the notes, you'd have a hard time without his explanations. Doing the homework is essential to doing well in class - his exams are based on homework problems, but he throws in important details that are tricky. It's a lot of work, but he's so awesome that it's worth it.
Hard class but with his style of teaching makes it easy. Best prof I've had. Funny, cracks jokes, plays video games and most importantly knows his material. Make sure you go to his lectures and pay attention. His grading system is so nice, he gives you the higher score out of the two avgs at the end of the semester.
Massive legend
I've had him for FSE100, IEE380, and IEE376 and I would do it again. His classes are not easy but you will definitely learn the material well. Expect to have to study extra for his classes to get a good grade. If you're Industrial Engineering or Engineering Management PLEASE TAKE HIM
Idk why he changed it up for IEE380 this year but he made quizzes 45% of the final grade and got rid of tests and extra credit making it really hard to get an A. If you do mediocre on the quizzes you will barely pass the class. Quizzes always have some sort of trick questions on them making it hard to get a 10. very funny guy though if that counts
Clough is hilarious, his lectures are really entertaining. ASU 101 is an easy A, but it has a lot of busywork. FSE 100 contains a lot of group projects but is also a pretty easy A. Clough is pretty accessible if you have a question and he puts a lot of thought and effort into teaching.
Super fun professor who really cares about his students. I had a couple of mental health problems, and he was very kind and accepting of that. Even though this class is supposed to be incredibly easy, the final group project can get tough. He's a VERY lenient grader though, so stressing about grades is pretty nonexistent in his class.
He teaches very well. If you took AP stats, this class is mostly the same thing except for the ending. Biggest issue is that the final is worth 35% of your final grade so make sure you know how to do problems. Yo have a quiz every other week that makes more of a difference than you think so make sure you get as many points as possible. Good choice.
There was a lot of work done throughout the semester, half of it was group work, the other half of it was individual. The professor himself is a good person, and teaches well, but uses a flipped grading schedule, which can screw you up if you haven't experienced it before.
The semester of fall 2020 this class was put online through zoom. 10/10 this teacher is great! You need to study the slides for quizzes and the final you were allowed paper notes/ printouts only. He relates statistics to every field and as a CS major I loved this class. He really cares and helps you to succeed!
Professor Clough was a good professor. Literally everything in the class from tests to slides to homework can all be done with the class slides. He doesn't throw trick questions which is nice. The homework sucks because you have to pay to do it.
Lectures are basically: interesting story related to statistics -> formula -> example. I found the stories were always very interesting, and the examples were helpful, however, he really did not give good explanations for where the formulas came from or any sort of intuition about them. Overall a great professor though.
Clough's lectures are very interesting and easy to sit through. He explains the concepts quite well and succinctly. He always is responsive to student questions and is overall a very good professor. Only thing is the class is a little heavy on homework and quizzes. Other than that, Clough is a great choice.
Clough has great lectures. They're fill in the blank notes so you can follow along in class or get them from friends. Homework is all done with the online textbook which you need to buy. Only gripe is that the tests are short and multiple choice; you either know it or you don't. Pretty good guy.
Great Teacher just hope your group is good
Dr. Clough knows the material well and really cares about his students. Lectures are a bit monotonous, but that is mostly just the nature of the material. My only complaint is that the open note/book in-class quizzes are given too much weight for too few questions. The smallest mistake can make or break your grade.
Dr. Clough was an awesome professor! He was very quick to clarify/answer questions. He checked in with us on a weekly basis. He is very understanding and will help you if needed. I really loved the class (FSE 100, Introduction to Engineering) and had so much fun in it!
He makes a lot of mistakes during his lectures, which can be quite frustrating sometimes when you are writing everything and have to erase. Also, the group project is hard and he gives little advice on how to use the software. You basically have to learn it on your own/youtube.
FSE 100 with Clough was the only class that kept me engaged this semester. The guy actually knows how to teach. It's not an easy class, but everything he assigns is fair and you will do well as long as you show up to class and not procrastinate. The only problem is that you're stuck with the same group the entire year, so be aware of that.
He is a great professor, clearly cares about student's success and easy to talk to if there are any difficulties. This class is basically all projects with a some very easy assignments for background knowledge to complete the projects. Also all group projects so be ready for those.
Class was pointless but easy lectures at the beginning, then a tiny group project and then a huge group project at the end. Overall not a bad intro to engineering course, hard to grade the professor because he wasn't needed for much but I guess it's nice he didn't overextend I guess.
Professor Clough is an amazing teacher, FSE100 is a relatively easy class until the final project, which is a group project. The groups are assigned at random, but as long as you can work well with your group, the final can be a walk in the park. The reason I say can is because there are multiple final projects that you can get. Otherwise He rocks.
As long as you show up to class everyday, you are pretty much guaranteed an A. The class itself is really easy. It mostly just depends on your group (but he is really understanding if you have a bad group). Other than a few odd assignments, everything can be finished during class.
Quizzes every week. Make sure you maximize your points on the quizzes because they matter more than you think. If you understand the homework then you'll be fine in the class. Make sure to know your calculator functions as well.
Clough was a pretty good and chill professor. Overall, FSE 100 is a TA run class and i'm pretty sure it's more meant for the TAs to get experience helping you. Clough would only step in if it was something the TA's couldn't figure out. Final project is graded pretty fair though
Decent enough professor - lots of homework (tedious but not too difficult). Quizzes every 1-2 weeks that are worth more than you think, but are open note which helps. Midterm wasn't too bad, but the final was tough because of ambiguous questions and answers, watch out for it.
I think that Clough is a good teacher, but if you struggle with tests this class will be brutal. His exams were very difficult, and there will not be a curve. Only 1 test, only 1 midterm. Also, quizzes are important in this class but you need to study beforehand. If you are good at tests, take him. If not, beware.
His lectures are funny sometimes, has a good sense of humor. You have to put enough time to pass the class, if you do you can get an A. If you miss a homework for whatever reason he doesn't reopen it for you. That made me feel that he cares about policies more than students. No curve, no extra credits.
Easy grader. Wasn't so concerned with correct answers as he was about the process. Was quick to respond to any emails or correspondence. FSE100 was an atrocious amount of work for 2 credits, but that's not the professors fault.
I do not appreciate the busy work.
Dr. Clough grades extremely lax. Even if its not 100% correct, he gives full credit for effort. I even turned in an assignment and he took off only 10% instead of the 30% listed in his syllabus. I would 100% take another course with him if given the opportunity.
His way or the highway, unforgiving with giving points back on quizzes. Course material is so boring, the professor that designed the course (Chattin) knew that and decided to keep students interested with non-stop homework. Clough isnt a bad professor, you will probably like him at first. But over time you will grow to hate this class.
When I took this course I was very frustrated at how rude Dr. Clough was in his emails. He heavily grades the project, which I found to be extremely unfair since it's using a program he doesn't even teach how to use. I considered bringing it to the Dean but figured it wasn't worth the battle. Anyhow, not easy stuff folks.
He makes students buy the $100 textbook and then assigns a bunch of busy work from it. It feels condescending
Clough is awesome, he wants the success of his students and will help as much as you ask. This class is pretty vague so its very up to your imagination. He rarely ever gives Bs especially for the final
Dr. Clough knows his stuff and treats students like adults. He gives you everything you need, so your grade is all about how much you study.
Fair and just professor! Lectures are broken down so one can understand formulas and their applications. Treats everyone with respect and lays down rules and expectations from day one. The course is tough but Clough is a great choice to truly understand and comprehend the material!
Really chill dude, his leactures and slides are really good, and you can actually learn in lecture LOL. His slides are also all you need on ur cheat sheet for the midterm and final. Only complaint is the short mc quizes and exams, but besides that pretty solid and easy class. Don't sweat ab 380 w Clough. He's also a funny guy
I think most of the reason why so many people fail this class is because everything is so reliant on the hellspawn that is calculators. Also stop using Wiley. The questions are so confusing.
He reads off slides, does a few examples that don't help with homework. "Homework" is poor to learn from. Most of my classmates did not pass the midterm he wrote and prepped us for. Online homework that's not overly hard, but takes a ton of time, worth only 10% and due next day from lectures. Nice guy but a horrible professor.
This class is mad boring but Clough is the goat. And he's a Seahawks fan. Homework takes forever but you will not regret taking it seriously. Do your homework. Do your quizzes. You'll do good in this class. Don't cut corners on those two factors, and it should be easy for you. Clough is a great guy. Funny lectures and is memorable.
This guy is the Goat. Super Chill. Explains Concepts well in Class and does multiple examples that helps with HW and the Exams. Chills with us in his class Discord Server and is happy to move assignments due dates if students requests are valid. The class is not easy and the content is very dry but Clough makes the class super fun and interesting.
Stats isn't a very interesting class at its core, but Clough is definitely one of the best teachers for it. He is very clearly organized and fair with all the work from deadlines to test score averages. This is a man for the people.
Probably one of the most generous and caring professors I've had. You're graded by a couple smaller projects and one big final project, but the final project is graded VERY generously. I had a nightmare of a group and he completely understood and was way more lax with me and even joked around with me as well. TAKE HIM!!!!!
For our final project, half of my group just abandoned us and our car did not work well at all. However, Dr. Clough was very generous and still gave me a 101% on the project for participation after the peer evaluations. Just show up and try your best and you will do fine. Also make sure to do the quizzes for the course on time.
Very flexible with dates on homework and quizzes. On paper the course load doesn't seem too bad, but in reality the software for the hw sucks and he doesn't prepare you for the exams that well at all (especially the final). I would like to see him provide a study guide with practice problems for his exams in the future, but who knows.
Despite the stupidity of this course requirement, this professor makes it enjoyable and easy. Two major group projects in the semester, but everything is graded so loosely as long as you try you're guaranteed a 100%. Got a 100 on a robot that couldn't even navigate the maze req. Just don't be that teammate that never shows up and you're good.
Dr. Clough is a funny and personable guy that makes a boring (required) class tolerable. All you need to do is turn in every assignment (quality matters little) and show up to most classes, and you will get an A+. Class content is generally boring, but Clough makes classtime at least tolerable, and he often lets you leave early.
This was the best professor I have had at ASU by far. Not only was he a great lecturer, but it was incredibly obvious that he genuinely cared about his students and was very flexible with due dates when he could be.
Great professor. Rating a 1 because of Wiley.
The worst professor I have seen in my life. Doesn't care about anything except his jokes. First guy I have seen who teaches math by reading it. Exams are so tough that no matter how hard you study the lectures, hw, quizes, the content of the exams will be a lot different. Expect the unexpected. Please dont take this guy
Clough is my boy like I pulled up every day just chilling and he was there ready to answer any of my questions. He's a fair grader and his class is a great time. A chill dude and worth getting to know.
Massive W guy.
One of the best at ASU. Online video lectures are straight to the point and well explained, and actually useful. The class is hard imo, I have taken a lot of math and still struggled with all of the operations required for this course. Exams are fair, reviews are helpful, responds quickly to emails, friendly. Such a great guy all around.
Typical math class with about 2 assignments a week, 1 midterm, 1 project, 1 final. hw gave u 3 attempts total it was never too much. Tests were a bit hard but reviews were well done. TA and the teacher have a discord that answer your questions relatively fast.
Professor was really cool and I really enjoyed this class. During the 2nd semester, it's project-based, and even if your robot fails the maze you still get a high % score, so it's a very easy A+. Clough is really chill and I had a great time in this class. Would recommend him highly!
Professor Michael was one of my favorite Professors this semester he would help when asked and he was really funny the class itself can be boring depending on which master project you get I got to build a robot car and program it to navigate a maze it was really fun The professor also grades really fairly don't expect special treatment.
Required class, not a hard one. Helps you prepare for your first year of college well, no final exam. Tough grader, very cynical about citations/references - throws around the word plagiarism a lot.
Gave insightful lectures with lots of real-world relations. Engraved lots of practices and fundamentals needed in future classes. Group project-based but provided lots of guidance and advice to ensure groups excelled.
Really fun and engaging class. You start off right away in groups working on two projects before the break. Both are pretty easy but once you get back to class, it gets more difficult. If you don't know how to code yet, hopefully, you get paired up with a group that does. There's a whole project that deals with coding and I was pretty lost.
Very down to earth guy and very knowledgeable. Final project is a group one and he is more than willing to work with you if your group sucks. You need to attend class as you will lose points if you do not. Keep up with the weekly milestones and you'll get an easy A+.
Great professor, wants to give good grades. Relatively easy class as long as you do all of the assignments.
Dr. Clough was a good professor who was accessible when discussing group projects. He cares about his students and will give credit for participation, regardless of the outcome of the projects.
Took Dr. Clough for Fall FSE100, very enjoyable class, although I do not understand why an A+ for this class is above a 100%. If your group is lively, this class is a lot of fun though.
Pretty chill guy with a cool backstory, but I didn't really enjoy his teaching style. He essentially does not teach at all. The homework, quizzes, and resources for the class are all entirely online, so the physical in-person class consists completely of group work, with no lectures from the professor whatsoever. Other than that, the class was fun.
Dr. Clough is the GOAT. He made everything very clear in the lectures and was very quick to answer any questions. He is also very active on Discord and will help there too if you need it. Exams were very fair and you were allowed a cheat sheet. Wiley sucks but everyone has to do it regardless of professor. Would absolutely recommend!
This professor is really cool and he makes learning difficult topics as easy as he possibly could. Go to the lecture and take notes you will do good in his class. Labs are not bad but make sure to do well on them to offset a bad exam grade.
Having Clough as a proff was refreshing. He walks you through both concepts and examples during lecture. Could complete the homework with only my lecture notes. No googling how to solve a problem or use an algorithm. Exams where based on lecture as well, no curveballs. 12 labs though which required a lot of time 30 -120 mins. Must take proff.
Teaches in a format that ENCOURAGES student learning. He provides the slides before class with gaps so you can fill them in as you go and actually pay attention rather than writing everything down, and posts the answers once the chapter has ended. Very reasonable and personable guy who cares about his students' success.
Professor Clough is a great professor. He's funny in his lectures and teaches the material well. This material is pretty confusing, but if you go to the lectures and do the labs you will actually understand the material and know how to do everything. His tests are pretty easy compared to the homeworks and the labs, which is great.
Excellent lecturer. He does use Wiley, but this is the case for all stats teachers now unfortunately.
Clough is a great professor, I previously took this class with a different professor and failed. He's a great lecturer, makes sure everyone understands him as he goes, and makes lots of jokes. there is a lot of homework but it isn't too bad.
Dr. Clough is one of my favorite profs I've had. He's well versed in the material, a good teacher, and so damn funny. Even if you generally don't go to class, I would recommend attending his lectures just because they're so informative and funny. He's honest, caring, a great person in general, and always willing to help students.
He is funny and excellent at teaching. I would strongly recommend to take his class, if possible. Although 80% of the class is exams (in every section).
Great professor, it's just a tough class, 70% of the grade is tests. Screw up on one of them and it's pretty much over. Tests are 13 questions, 4 points per question, with one of the 13 questions being a freebie (Asks what version your test is, can't get that wrong). Lots and lots of homework's, a bit of quizzes, 1 project. Worry about exams.
He is the goat. Funny guy but also knows his stuff. The class does have a decent bit of hw and tests are weighted pretty high. Exams are fair, but you need to understand the concepts fairly well on top of the actual math. Put in the work and its a pretty easy A.
Great professor, the material was sometimes challenging but his lectures were very useful and the slides were a useful reference during homework and studying. Really wants to help you understand, and there was never anything unexpected on the exams.
He doesnt teach. Just reads off the project prompt and the TA's do everything. Easy class all project based so the professor you have does not really matter but this one does not let you pick your own groups. He is a very easy grader though even if your project does not work. I have heard good things about professor Gouripeddi. Take him if you can.
One of the most genuine and intelligent professors. No lectures, just online quizzes that take maybe 10 minutes per week. Projects get dedicated time in class, so working outside of class is only likely for the final. Very open to talk to as well, loves sharing life experience, giving advice, or even just talking about fun stuff like video games.
Michael GOAT Clough.
AMAZING. Lectures are interesting and connect to real life stuff. Attendance not mandatory but lectures are very fun and interesting, so go to them. Him and TAs are available always through the Discord server. He allows cheat sheets on exams, and posts notes after lecture. Seriously, take him. He is probably the best teacher at ASU. THE GOAT.
The way Clough runs FSE100 isn't difficult, just show up and put in the work for the class and you'll do alright. The TAs do a lot of the work for this class, which can result in some inconsistent grading/feedback. Clough also has some very entertaining life stories, and is approachable with any questions you have about the work.
Good dude, his class consisted of two smaller group projects, one final project, and almost weekly quizzes (no lockdown browser). The final project is a bit intimidating, but you have plenty of time to do it and he respects the time you put into it, which is reflected by the grading.
I really love his lecture. I came to every class because I know I am not good at statistics. However, I do not feel like he is doing fair on the exam content. The exam was hard from what was covered in the exam review. No support is received after the grade is done, which is very clearly stated in the class. If you are confident, take this class.
Professor Clough runs an engaging class with a focus on group projects. While the workload can be heavy at times, his guidance and the use of helpful study tools like unstuck AI make it manageable. Overall, a solid intro course worth taking.
Probably the best professor to pick for this class. 3 exams (worth 70% of your total grade), a lot of homework (all online, gotta purchase the book to access them though), a bit of quizzes (I think it was 8 in total) and 1 project that isn't worth much. It's just the exams that's the issue. Make sure you do good on the exams, otherwise it's easy.
Good person and inspires you, to addition projects are fun.
Clough moved the second midterm to the day after spring break.
He's a cool person, but his exams are designed to be tricky, especially with the multiple-choice answers. If you struggle with tests, passing this course will be tough, and with no chance for extra credit, you'll need to stay on top of your game. Good luck!
I really enjoyed his class. Basically, a "baby" capstone project to get us familiar with what an engineering project entails. Dr Clough was super nice and encouraging and very responsive with emails or any of my concerns. His style fits well with students who are motivated to learn. Would absolutely take any of his classes again in the future.
The class is very easy if u take it with him. He is super nice and easy to approach. Exams are super easy and similar to in class example problems and exam review. The only down side is there is little extra credit and only of the exams. But still it easy to score on the exams. His TA's are great too and always available on discord to help.
Clough is a great choice for prob & stats! Always happy to answer questions whenever, concise explanations and a great personality. Online homework similar to tests & one project. Tests are all multiple choice with at least one cheat sheet, though weighted pretty heavily; strongly suggest internalizing the concepts. Most of all, get a TI-84.
TooToughProf my goat attendance not rlly mandatory but should still go cause there's more context for the lecture slides in person tests, u gotta be careful for trick questions so read carefully but i dont think the tests are too hard either pushes back hw a lot if ur reading this Dr. Clough, hope ur cruise is awsm
Genuinely such a goat- words can't describe the level of swag this man brings to the engineering department. This professor is honestly one of the best and his class is easy as long as you pay attention. HE LITEARLY tells you whats on the exam in class.
Theres a group project and I got lucky with a great group that everyone did their own work. Fast paced class but manageable. Great professor.
FSE 100, in retrospect, was a super easy course, and Dr. Clough was great through it all! This class is team based, so your team is what is ultimately going to determine your success. Clough is super fast to reply to emails, helpful, and genuinely wants you to succeed. All in all, highly recommend!
Don't be afraid of the group project, knock it out early. This class is a easy A.
He was an awesome professor and his class was an easy A. Participation matters for the final project but it wasn't difficult.
His class was pretty awesome, and I liked the final project, working on a vehicle to do a certain task. His lectures were a bit simple, but they gave the most logical explanation you would need to learn. I liked him and the TAs, I had most memorable moments working with my team. It kinda sucks since I changed majors, credit isn't worth anything.
3 exams + final, 22 online hw, 1 individual project. Everyone says he's the goat but he's alright imo. His exam policy is weird, you miss 1 exam and it's grade will be replaced by final's but if you take and get a 0, won't change or drop the lowest grade exam making it difficult to get a good grade if you mess up even 1 exam.
Just take him, trust me. You will not regret it one bit.
The best FSE prof. Very hard to not get an A.
Don't take him if you struggle with the probabs and stats even slightly, start is easy but it gets very difficult as you go, exams are hard, weird exam policy and does not curve, you cant afford to fumble even 1 exam, doesnt drop the lowest either. He's chill but his way of teaching was confusing for me so I had a hard time understanding concepts.
The GOAT. Very clear lectures. Unlike other instructors, he focuses on understanding and problem solving rather testing than heavy math. No curve, but there is extra credit on every exam. Out of 13 questions, one is given in class and another is the exam version. Do the homework and take advantage of the resources on Discord, hard to not succeed.
Thought this would be an easy class after reading the other ratings, it was indeed NOT. I did put in the work but his way policies didnt make sense to me. Doesnt drop the lowest, there's EC only on the exam which isnt helpful, lecture and hw questions are different than the exam ones. Mess up 1 exam, you're cooked, doesnt curve either.
Out of all IEE profs, take him. His tests are the most straightforward. He offers a 2-point curve on every test, but still BEWARE: these tests are only 12 MCs and weighted very heavily. Don't screw up. However, I do remember him saying on the Discord, he might switch it up to just one final exam and semester-long project moving forward.
it's harder to not get an A in this class. take him, you won't regret it :)
