strong, very sensitive, and insults his students
does insult students, but an easy A
good professor. class projects help a lot. has a sense of humor. u also have to take him for acct 400
Very clear teacher. Has a good sense of humor. Probably the best in the acct dept.
Does poke fun at the students, but usually only the ones who poke fun at him. He puts things in words that everyone can understand, and he is good about making his notes available to students. Recommend him highly to all students.
great humor, tells you what you need to do, very fair in grading.
Had him & Davidson team-teach during Winter Session. Expressed high expectations with assignments, but in the end we all got full credit just for turning it in. Not so bad for the headache he was along the way.
Everyone is stumped on his first test since its extremely hard and he makes the material seem so easy, but when it comes down to it just make sure to focus on the cheat sheets, he gives a very generous curve at the end
He is a basically unhelpful teacher. If you want to major Accounting, do not take his class or you won't learn anything after all, but waste of your tuition.
God bless dr constace
He's cool. Another basic self-learning acct class. Don't expect to learn much in class.
Very good. Exam are hard. But his notes are really helpful
if you can understand, his examples you should do ok. but even if you don;t know anything, you can do the group quizzes and take home midterms with you team members and still pass. basically an easy A is your anywhere
Great Prof
He was quite nasty to me, but in the end I guess he was ok. His lectures are VERY boring, so it's hard to pay attention. How did I manage an A grade I really don't know. Exams are short, but seems unrelated to lecture. Makeup tests always available. I have to say I learned nothing though.
Hilarious and knowledgable, still very challenging, but I had fun
He is so damn Mean. and one of the worst attidude professor i ever have. lecture in boring but no other choice of professor. i just do my self-study during lecture
CONSTAS IS COOL.HE'S VERY DRY.HARD TO TELL THE JOKES IF YOU'RE NOT PAYING ATTENTION.HE TRIES TO DRESS UP THE MATERIAL, BUT IT'S TOUGH. HE DOES HIS BEST TO GET EVERYBODY THRU. IF YOU GET LESS THAN B OFF HIM, YOU HAVE NO BUSINESS IN ACCOUNTING. FIND ANOTHER MAJOR.
very difficult class. my first hard class in acct. everyone is stumped on the 1st exam. its like WTF kind of test is this. ADVICE: test mainly on conceptual..DONT bother to understand how to do the lecture problem cuzz 98% not even on the test
Accounting in general is hard! But he makes it easy to understand if you pay attention. His tests are somewhat easy and what is cool is that he curves AND gives you makeups. He is really nice. He gave my friend a passing grade because she needed to grad.
not an easy class; subject isn't easy. tests kinda hard. lectures super boring.
Constas is a VERY fair teacher. The class is hard and his exams are harder. But he curves a lot and if you put a little effort into his class you will get a passing grade. His lectures are a little boring, but they do help you understand the material for the tests.
Don't buy the book. Print all of his Class notes and study from that. he allows a lot of cheat sheets so use them. there are only 12 questions on each test. attendence counts so go to class but study from the class notes and the book's quizzes. he gets his tests from the test bank. he always lets you out 2hrs early for the 4hr. night class
took him during the winter session. he's a very nice guy. we didn't have to take a final because all of us showed up on the last day. the in-class stuff was easy.
Dr. Constas is a cool teacher, subject is complicated, and he knows it, so he tries to make it easy and he's helpful when you ask him a question in class or at his office. I liked him, huge curve.
Mr Constas is great.. I took him in winter but he also teaches on summer and that's the only time he teaches this class.. i'm not an accountant and i was crusing in the class. I got 94% of all possible points---3 test--Dont buy book use his lectures notes.
Just took the final in there.(winter session) Great teacher. The people who disagree are just fools.
He's a nice guy, and he really wants his students to do well.
Worest teacher ever had in college. I have no idea how he was hired by CSULB! just makes me feel sick to see teachers with such very poor teaching skills.

He is an ass of a professor with too many stupid comments. Tests are extremely hard and because he knows the material so well, he doesn't teach at a level that is easy to understand. Not helpful. Good thing he curves though.
I got an easy A. I just read the book couple of times, didn't attend lecture, just showed up for tests. I think I showed up for class only about 7 times through out the semester. Only 12 questions per test. Easy class. Walk in the park. Piece of cake.
Subj is tough. Gotta do HW and keep up. Don't buy book - use his lecture notes/problems. They are much better and deviate from methods taught in book. Strange, sarcastic sense of humor- don't take it personally. If you don't get it the first time, ask him to explain it again. Substantial curve at end of sem.
He's a great professor! The materials are very10x hard, but he explains them really well & has a very generous curve. Do not buy the book - go to class, study the powerpoint slides, do the ex.crt offered, and study the on-line quiz from the book's website. He is a nice & funny teacher. Best professors:(gentile, todd, fisher, grace, constas, todd)
The materials are VERY EASY. I don't understand people who says this class is hard. Don't need to buy book. Just do online quizzes & extra credit for this class. I put minimum effort and received an A.
Like all the other accounting classes I took at CSULB, this class so easy. Easy A for me.
Don't need to study that hard for this class. Don't buy the book. Easy material. I slacked off, attended every other lecture and still got a easy B. Easy class.
He's a great professor! The materials are relatively easy & he explains them really well & has a very generous curve which you probably don't need. Do not buy the book - go to class, study the powerpoint slides, do the ex.crt offered. He is a nice & funny teacher. I got A with minimum effort.
I showed up for class couple of times in the beginning of the semester. After that, I only showed up for the tests. For me, his power points & his other materials on his website didn't help me for his test that much. I just read the chapters twice by myself and received an easy B for the course.
Dr. Constas is cool.
Contrary to what everyone else has said, I found his lectures and powerpoint very useful. I never read the book... instead... I paid attention in class and did all of his on-line practice questions and still received an A in his class. Biggest suggestion I can give is to study the powerpoints and practice questions.
No need to attend the class. Just read the book by yourself and take three easy 12 multiple choice question exams. You'll either get a easy B or A with minimum effort.
Dr. Constas provides excellent PowerPoints and notes that are very helpful. Some students didn't even use the book. To the credit of the Dr., I still remember the material from his class. If you want one of the best teachers that CSULB has to offer, take Dr. Constas. You'll have to study.
Don't need to purchase book since he provides you with slides but it's optional. He a real down to earth guy. For each chapter on the exam he lets you have a cheat sheet. Curve is HUGE.
Constas is a pretty awesome teacher! I've had him for cost and advanced accounting and although the material can tend to be difficult (at least the first half of the semester). constas tries to make it quick and painless for you. provides more than enough suplimental material on his website...i highly recommend constas! Hes very fair in the end!
You are guaranteed to be STRESSED OUT just because the material is so difficult! But he curves a lot to give you some relief. I got a D on the final but managed to get an A
2 midterms, 2 re-do midterms, 1 final (cumulative). Tests are scantron. Material isn't very hard its just that he covers A TON! This makes the tests very difficult. However, he curves your final grade huge. Problem is that you dont know until the end of the semester. The person with the lowest C for their final grade got 4 Fs and one D on the tests
Do not buy the book! Go to the lectures, let the material sink in. Then instead of taking time to study, copy the lecture slides WORD FOR WORD into your cheat sheets (he allows cheat sheets for every test). I did this and got an A in the class after his monster curve. Hard to fail unless you really just don't try.
read the people who wrote before me.
UGH :o( The worst part about this teacher is that he reassures you the entire time that he didnt fail anyone in his last class...but cant give you a definite standing in the class. I am NOT a numbers person in any right.....and yes you do get cheat sheets....but its hard when he teaches one way, but pulls the questions from the book test bank.
Worst professor Ive had at CSULB. Look elsewhere! His teaching style doesn't reflect what is on 3 exams+ the final. The average for each exam was a FAIL. One the 1st exam, 4 people passed. He won't review for exams, nor explain where the test questions come from. He also doesn't answer emails. In the end he curves huge, but its needed. Your warned!
Lectures are useless. Tests come from book and even when reading the book don't make sense. HUGE CURVE! Gives pop quizzes that become extra credit. Allowed note sheets - copy his ppt's. Does not answer email. Class avg was F but only 20% of class failed after curve. You learn nothing.
Everything below is true... His lectures have nothing to do with the exams. The lectures make sense but the exam problems are all from the book. Apparently 3 pages of cheat notes isn't enough to pass his exams. However if you do the practice problems on his website & review the textbook, you can get an A. Just make sure to have GREAT cheat notes.
Good Teacher. Uses PowerPoint so don't bother with the book (if you really want to, buy the old edition). Show up to class, do the examples and homework and you'll get a good grade. Oh, he does let you have lot's of cheat-sheets!!! spend some time on those and they will be VERY helpful.
Constas is the best accounting teacher ever... Really changed my life knowing this teacher. Constas rocks!!!!!!!
Worst teacher ever!!!!! His lectures are sooooo boring and useless. He just reads the ppt that's available on his website. AVOID!!!!!!
Constas is not a bad professor. Although he only lectures through power point and would not tell you what to study for the exam, but you put in the effort and read the book and do the exercises at the back of the chapters and look over the power point, you will be fine. He has a very generous curve.
Got an A. had 3 tests- 58%,67% and 73% and still got an A. Ave test scores 50%. Don't need the book. No need to show up, once class is over you can't remember a this. Just study right before the test and do his quizzes online to prepare. top 3rd in class get A's, middle B's and lower C's. Just don't be a jerk and he wont fail you.
This class wasn't bad. I took the hyper course. Teacher really makes sure we understand it and has very helpful quizzes. You don't need the book! I would take him again.
"DAAAAAAAYUM!" is what I said when I saw my grade for this class and the curve he gave us. Test questions were the ones where you had to figure out five different variables first before you could answer the main question. Class avg for ea. test was an F. Well hopefully that gives you an insight as to how hard this class is.
I don't know why the professor gave me a "C" when all my tests were "F-". I took him back in 2006 and my avg score was about 10% meaning I got one out of 10 questions right. I blame it on my lack of interest in the subject and lazy to study but don't know why he gave me a "C" instead of "F".
GREAT LECTURER. HORRIBLE TESTS. YOU'LL HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOU'RE GETTING IN THE CLASS UNTIL THE END. I DON'T THINK HE LOOKS AT THE TESTS SO WHAT HE TEACHES AND WHATS ON THE TEST ARE COMPLETELY (AND I MEAN COMPLETELY) DIFFERENT. WOULD NOT TAKE HIM AGAIN.
Lets u use 3 cheat sheets (sucks for me because I just copied problems to my notes and never bothered to see if I understood them..worked for me for the two first midterms and then for the final I WAS COMPLETELY LOST). Class avg is an F. Best advice is make sure you know how to do the problems prior to the test. Hate acct but overall ok class.
His lectures are completely different from the problems on the exams. You are allowed notes for each exam. Make sure to include notes from his lectures and the book. Do your best on the final as that grade could replace any previous exam grades (if higher). Won't know how you're doing in the class until the end.
His ego was bruised by a previous class & he decided future classes should pay for it. Avg test score was 30% - NO Test Reviews, NO Notes. I got a B but didn't learn much because of the disconnect btwn lectures & tests. Test difficulty is a 10 compared to the level 4 he teaches. We asked for help, he just argued with us. He is NOT worth the stress.
Seriously I don't know why this professor is still employed.. Probably the worst professor I had in CSULB. Very poor in teaching and his lectures are not even relevant to the test because he pulls random questions from the Test bank. Recommend taking someone else because you would be struggling during test.
-very lazy! no sense of humor!but will keep you to listen his "jokes" -defensive personality, question wont be clearly answered, but argued! and no email response at all! -no actual learning from his class -he, no teaching skill, but curving skill -shouldn?t be teaching higher level -don't like to change his shirt for sure.
I got 6 out of 16 on my 1st exam, 5out of 14 on the 2rd exam, but I need at least a B from this class, so guess what? i go chat with him during his office hours, and became his favorate "buddy" since he doesn't seem have friends. heehee, it's not hard to get an A!
At first I didn't like him, but he's actually not bad at all. His lectures are exactly what you need to know and he provides PERFECT lecture notes online with lots of explanations and examples, though nobody seems to use them. Don't need the textbook if you use the online notes: print them out, bring them to class to follow along, and STUDY THEM=A
He's a good professor in that he walks you through an explanation of all major concepts, and goes over practice problems in class. His tests are brutal but the curve makes it possible to get an A. Practice, practice, practice to prepare for tests. Work out his sample problems, nothing from the book.
The best thing about this class is that you are given study problems that have the solutions written out to help you prepare for the exam. His curve is amazing =) Very helpful professor.
Study the powerpoint slides and UNDERSTAND them. You may not get more than 60-70% of the questions right on the exams but with the MEGA curve he gives, it is possible to get an A. Don't underestimate the class. The material is difficult and the tests are detailed.
HE GIVES YOU GUIDES WITH SOLUTIONS AND EXPLANATIONS THAT REALLY HELP WITH THE TEST. THE TEST ARE A LITTLE SHORT SO USE YOUR TIME WISELY. THERE ARE 6 CHAPTERS IN ONE TEST =( AND THE FINAL IS ACCUMLATIVE =( THOSE ARE THE BAD THINGS, OTHER THAN THAT, HE CURVES LIKE CRAZY SO ITS EASY TO GET A PASSING GRADE =)
I know how some people feel about rounding, but they're pretty ok, I guess. Some can be confusing, but you can still kind of tell which one is the closest answer. Though, I don't recommend taking him. I didn't learn anything. I had no choice but to take him though considering it was my last semester. His power points helped, but written poorly.
he is one of the best acct professor. i highly recommend take him. his power point is so helpful, and he is so fair on grading
Must teach yourself. Sample questions/reviews are nothing like exams. Heavy curve makes class passable.
He doesn't teach a lot. You will be skipping a lot of classes. But he does teaches clearly (when he does) and you do not need the book. If you read his notes on his Web site and study, you will get an A or a hard B. He makes sarcastic jokes, but he does cares about students.
I hated his class; i didn't learn much. only went to class to get his practice problem worksheets(very helpful). Only good thing was the Huge Curve.
Honestly probably one of the worst accounting professors ive ever had. This class is mostly word problems and how he teaches them is by showing a power point slide with the solution. Did not learn ANYTHING and only wen to class for the solution sheets. Only passed this class because of huge curve. Test avg was 50% for every test.
People say you don't need the book, but it's needed for some of the harder exams if you want an A. Prepare to teach yourself. Try your best for the 1st, 3rd, and 4th exams as they are the easiest. Don't study for the final, it is cumulative and too hard. Focus EQUALLY on the slides and study guides. Crazy curve (27% C). Easy class overall.
5 midterms and 1 final. No homework. Book not required. He goes through lecture fast and it's always boring. Class usually ends early. Make sure you understand concepts clearly. 2nd exam is hardest. Huge generous curve applied for every test. Attendance not required but recommended for packets he hands out every meeting. Didn't learn much
If you're looking for an easy grade, take this teacher. If you actually want to learn and be challenged, take someone else. Always lets class out early. No homework. Exams are very hard with low scores but he grades on a curve so almost everyone passes. Ask questions if you don't understand, he will always answer. Tells cheesy jokes.
The tests are only difficult for people who don't do the practice problems that he assigns from the book. They are not required, so no one does them. However, the problems in the book are very similar to the problems on the test. Most people only practice the review sheet handouts which are very basic forms of what is on the exam.
No Homework. 5 Exams + Final (Cumulative). Easy A if you do a small amount of extra work. Everyone relies on the curve. I did so well from the curve I didn't even have to take the final and still got an A. Practice the problems from the book. Practice his Handouts. No Attendance. Class ends early.
Mike Constas was a caring professor that made the management accounting class interesting! He was always available when I needed to meet with him outside of class hours.
