Bad experience.
i have never met a history professor who's so up tight about doing research papers..this man micromanages everything about how to do a research paper and that takes away students'initatives...
Okay so he is a hard teacher and his paper makes you want to die, but he really pushes you to achieve a higher quality of work, that really isnt expected in other classes
Very enthusiastic about his subject matter but his poor attitude towards students is extremly detrimental to the learning process. He also tends to spend more class time ranting about current politics than teaching history.
I thought he would be fun in the beginning, but then it just changed. He spent more time interfering with my personal life and "why" i wasnt doing great in the class, than actually helping me. I have never had a teacher make me feel so dumb and worthless.
He is the meanest & rudest person i've ever met. He is very nosy about ur personal life. He is never on topic, he constantly talks about his life and not history. He is cold hearted & shouldn't teach history but rather be history. He is a disgrace 2 precious IRCC.
When God was handing out teaching skills, this guy was clearly at the back of the line.
if you want to past the class do not take this class.
He is soooo annoying...dont take if you are an athlete..he was a drama kid in high school..never stays on topic.dont be there on time bc he doesnt start talkin about history till 30min into class.. horrible teacher.if you can handle sitting through him talkin crap about you to the whole class then take him bc his notes = the test. he is awful!!!!!!
He is an very interesting professor that's for sure. Other than the research paper, his class was fairly easy. I would recommend taking his class, but BEWARE OF THE RESEARCH PAPER. He is really uptight about it!
Teaching wasn't bad, just had a God complex, and was a bit overbearing at times, tests were difficult.
He's hard. He makes you do paper. But he tells you what to do. And if he doesn't, then ask him he WILL talk to you. He's personable if you act nice.
nice guy overall.... but the research paper was so hard! i mean REALLY a hard paper. tests were quite easy if you just studied your notes.
Corey is the most amazing teacher I've ever had. Hes the most wonderful teacher EVER!!!

HE WAS VERY OPPINIONATED HE IS ALSO VERY BIASED HE DOESNT WONT TO HEAR WHAT YOU HAVETO SAY. I TUNED HIM OUT, DONT LET HIM TALK POLITICS TO YOU. DIDNT STAY ON SUBJECT TO GREAT
Hard teacher but learn alot. The 10 page essay is a **** if you dont start on it early. But he is pretty giving on the grades for it as long as you dont copy
I thought he gave hard but fair assignments and I thought he was a very fair prof. Anyone who says different doesn't know how to be a good student!!! Mr. Corey, I thought u were a GREAT prof.
Although he does know history, teaching involves quoting book. DON'T BUY ONE! Have to memorize all notes for exams b/c they are open ended questions but they are pretty easy; usually 2-3 pages of notes per test. Term paper is total BS nobody did better than a C on it.
Very Fun Class!!
Awesome teacher. Very Understanding. I can honestly say that I have learned a lot from him. All you have to do to pass the tests is just study the notes, no need for the book.
american history class was not that easy w/ him, his ok, i would not take another class w/ him
Mr. Corey is a teacher that is a control freak. He gives fill in the blank tests and loves to give half credit just so you fail his tests. If you dont suck up to him he doesnt care if you pass or fail when it comes down to it. I WOULD NEVER TAKE HIM AGAIN, HORRIBLE TEACHER
I love Mr.Corey!! He is soo interesting and such a nice guy. Give him a chance - study for his tests and you will do great. He is an awsome history teacher and totally entertaining
it's not that i didn't learn anything in mr. corey's class, i just wasn't making the grade i wanted to. even after studying for his tests, fill in the blank was too difficult.

Just learn the notes, don't study learn the material! All his tests are fill in the blank, but like he says we have the answers all we have to do is learn the material. Best history teacher I've had so far. First one ever to make history interesting to me, and I actually learned with him. Highly recommend him.
Never uses the book, all notes are from class presentation. Tests are word for word from his notes fill in the blank. Very easy if you study the notes and follow along. Obnoxious personality so don't expect to make a friend. Keep quiet and stay under his radar or he will single you out and try to make you look stupid.
Entertaining, very opionated, but pretty cool, easy as long as you can take a test from notes.
This class is easy if you come to class take notes and study for the test. The answers come directly from the notes. The professor can be obnoxious and mouthey at times but just ignore that. He never uses the book, so no need to waste your money.
Interesting teaching style! The material becomes engaging but the prof's personality is overwhelming. Makes you feel stupid. Test from notes so study them exclusively. If you can stomach the contant delays, internet surfing adventures and idiotic ramblings, then the class isn't too bad. Hard to stay under radar - he targets everyone!
Took him a few years ago and from the looks of it...he is the same ...LOL if you can take his pompous attitude, you will pass.
Easy class. You don't need a book and tests are given ONLY from the notes he gives you. No homework given. His personality can be overwhelming, but usually is just fun.
Mr. Corey is funny. I enjoyed listening to him. The only downside is you really have to study the notes because the test is write in your own answer. It has to be the exact wording from the notes for full credit. If it's not exact but the same idea you'll get half credit.
Worst Professor! Very different teaching style and obnoxious. His test are straight out of the notes but you have to give word for word answers or you will get half credit even if it means the same thing.
I recommed him. Yes, if you have a weak self esteem don't take him, you wouldn't be able to handle him, but if not go ahead, you'll learn. NOTES ONLY! so no need to stress about the book, you'll learn :)
Mr. Cory has a very interesting teaching strategy. Keeps you very interested and you are rarely watching the clock. Tests are a little challenging no multiple choice all short answer, but your in college it should be that way as much as we all hate it. Test can be challenging and suck at first but if you learn from him how to study you will do well
I took Mr. Corey for Summer II. He was an okay teacher. I would not recommend taking him for the summer term. Lots of notes. You have to memorize the notes word for word or you will not do well on the test. He is a funny guy, but tends to go off on a tangent ALL THE TIME. Take Mr. Corey if your memory is flawless
By far one of the worst teachers at irsc. Thinks he's a comedian, never answers questions and if he does its with a smart sarcastic remark. DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER!!!!!! Awful!
VERY easy class. I did have to get a laptop (needed one anyway) because there are a LOT of notes. The tests are easy, but you have to study. They are all write-in responses, no multiple choice. The test is EXACTLY like the notes, down to a tee. He does joke around, and I think he makes the class bearable (class was 2.5 hours long). So just study.
Tests are ridiculously simple. no tricks, you just have to take the answers word for word out of the notes, which I could see a problem for someone who does not have a photographic memory.Explains the notes thoroughly. I enjoyed his sarcastic sense of humor, but those who get offended easily should take caution. Got 100s on every test.
Mr. Corey is a great teacher. He uses three pages of typed notes for each chapter and these are what his tests consist of. It is a great class and I highly recommend taking him, (I've taken him twice now, love him.)
EZ! great prof. babbles a lot, but all the questions on tests come directly from the notes. DO NOT BUY A TEXTBOOK, YOU WILL NEVER USE IT. if you sit up front and talk to him, he's very nice. he keeps the subject interesting and doesn't expect anything extra of you. no paper to write, but he does not give reviews for exams--you cannot miss a class.
I enjoyed his class. He provided the notes and all we had to do was show up and listen to his lectures and study the material. He's passionate about History and his lectures were great. Not boring at all. His class is easy as long as you are willing to learn the notes and pay attention in class.
I agree w/ comments on here. History-not my best subject, but this class was awesome. He actually discusses the topics thoroughly so it's easy to remember plus you take notes, so no book. I missed a class, but got the notes from a peer, still got A's on all my exams. Love his humor! He's a riot-definitely take this class for all history! I am!
He's an insufferable know-it-all who gets off on hearing his own voice. Yes, his tests come directly from the notes. 3 pages typed = 8 pages handwritten. ONLY grades in class are tests. Also, he turns the lights off for the entire class. Try to stay awake for 2.5 hours as a man drones on and on. Oh and good luck, he'll argue with a wall if need be
I CANNOT BELIEVE IRSC EMPLOYEES A MAN LIKE THIS. He loves to hear himself talk and if he can humialte you in someway... HE WILL!!!! He was such rude and inconsiderate human being. My recommendation is to skip a semester and wait for another teacher before you take a class with him.
He's awesome! The only things you need are a pen and a notebook. Save $$ don't buy the book!! He knows his history and you can see the passion...that's what makes a great teacher!
The best class EVER so far! I think the guy is hilarious! I'd rather a teacher teach then use a book! Lots of notes, test's are the notes.
great class. lectures were far from boring, made History interesting. tests are right from the notes
Great teacher! Copy notes from board and don't buy the book and you will pass the class!!!!!!!!
not a nice person. he makes fun of anyone he can and likes to put you in your place. even when there wasn't a need. picks on religion and will call you out. likes to hear himself talk. and doesn't use a book, says its wrong and his words correct. if you want to RElearn everything from scratch, he's your man.
Can be your friend or enemy. He likes things done his way and makes it known. Doesnt use book, be prepared to write loads of notes. His notes make it easy for you to know what to study but test are fill in the blank and the answers must be in HIS words. Ex: i put plantation, it was supposed to be crops. And once i put "of" where it shouldn't go.
I had him one semester and he was great the test are written so you must study the notes he has you write. but i had him this semester and he was a d*ck! I missed a few days due to my son being sick and he was terrible after that. then i was a few mins late for the final and he turned my A into an F because he wouldnt let me in for being late!
Mr. corey is a good professor but sometimes difficult. if you don't like history and you would want to pass then take him. if you study his notes the way he has them on the board you'll be fine. I recommend him to any student who wants to study and not expecting the professor would pass him or her.(Fall 2010, AMH 2020 Main campus)
At first, he was kind of intimidating, after a few classes though I definitely started to like him. At this point I can say he is by far my favorite teacher ever. Has him for Summer 11 for AMH2010, You copy his notes and study them exactly like he tells you and youll do just fine. Awesome teacher, very funny.
You can either perceive Corey one way or perceive him the way you should perceive him...Someone you can learn the truth from. He is intimidating at first and likes to put you in your place whether your wrong or right. Your always wrong by the way. But he is an amazing teacher that knows what he is talking about. Study notes and your fine. =)
One of the best teachers I've had. Study notes and there is no way you can fail this class, if you get below a B you are way too lazy. I will take him for all my history classes.
He is a weird guy, but very nice and is a great teacher, expains everything very well. You don't need the book, test comes from notes, fill in blank. I hate history, but was able to do well in this class. No comprehensive tests, learn a chapter, get tested on it, move on. Great class, he does like class participation, but not bad.
The most challenging course I've had yet. Test is straight from the notes, fill in the blank. However, you must make sure you study your notes thoroughly because the test questions are tricky. Oh yeah and you only have 35mins to complete each test. Definetely hated the class, Mr. Corey is funny but also a undercover smartass!
This teacher is... Interesting. All of his tests are STRAIGHT from the notes though and he definitely helps you come test day because he tells you whats wrong before you turn it in. NOT MULTIPLE CHOICE so if you can't remember your notes stay away! he's VERY sarcastic though so if you can't take it DON'T do it. otherwise, he's awesome. Got an A.
To tell you the truth, I did not like the class that much when I was taking it. Now I am taking tons of math and looking back he is honestly been my favorite professor so far. If you want to learn about the US take him, if you want and easy A don't take him.
Great teacher, can be a bit sarcastic, but funny. My only problem with his class is how specific he wants your test answers. His tests come straight his notes, word for word. If you can't remember notes word for word take someone else.
People fail to also indicate that the notes are about 1500 words in length and memorizing them well takes well over 3 hours of studying.
Great class. Great teacher. USE YOUR NOTES!
Three Things. 1) if you cannot handle dry humor or sarcasm don't take this class. 2) You do not need the text book for AMH2020, so if you bought it get rid of it/sell it.3) TAKE NOTES WORD FOR WORD. Over all I found Mr Corey to be a wonderful teacher, certainly one of my favorites I've had throughout my academic career. He knows his subject well
Mr. Corey can be sarcastic, but funny. His tests are from his notes only. Fill in the blank and he doesn't want your interpretation. Just the answers from the notes. If you come to class, take notes, and study, you will have no problem passing the course.
Not the best/easier teacher. but not a Very Bad on either
I studied my tail off in this class and will probably end up with a B. This professor gives notes that you must copy word for word. He makes up his own tests, short answers, which he expects to be exactly as he has written on his notes..."not your interpretation" If you miss a class you will need to get the notes from someone else...no excuses.
Lots of notes, very sarcastic, and hard tests...on the up side you do learn a lot
Prof. Corey is definitely not an easy teacher. For every test you get typed pages of notes, which you need to COMPLETELY study for. There is NO extra credit, NO homework assignments. If you miss a class, get the notes. Study ALL of them, and hopefully you pass. He is very knowledgeable and easy to understand. He explains everything! great teacher!
Mr. Corey is phenomenal. Nothing is on his tests that aren't in his notes. Flash cards are key to doing well. He's hilarious if you have a dry sense of humor and aren't terribly sensitive. The class is fun, and Mr. Corey successfully makes it interesting. Take him seriously when he gives you advice. Don't be afraid to ask for help. Loved him!
Mr. Corey is extremely knowledgeable and dedicated. Be prepared to actually learn. He is super sarcastic funny. So make sure you can handle that. His tests answers are directly from the notes. But dont be fooled into thinking ypu can just memorize you have to undeestand the concepts to understand the test questions. He gives good life advice too!
Do NOT buy the book, Mr. Corey provides you the knowledge and information you will need for the course. If you are easily offended or you believe that it is the professor's job to give you an A, this is not the course for you. You will learn and you will EARN the grade you receive. Study his notes verbatim.
He is a very sarcastic professor, in my opinion he has not respect for his students. If you want to have a fun learning in history do no take him. Make your money worth and take somebody else.
Mr. Corey is incredibly intelligent. He teaches and tests directly from his notes, the textbook is never used --attendance is mandatory or you will miss important information. I enjoyed every session with him and learned more from him than any other history professor in the past. His class will make you think and he will make you laugh.
I HATED this class! Usually I'd be more optimistic, but he is too sarcastic for my liking and not very clear. You'd basically have to memorize the notes, even if you don't understand what you are reading. I am a student that's currently on the Dean's List and I got a D in this class. If you want to good I advise you to stay clear of this professor.
Teaches what he think is important. Has favorites. Mostly females and flirts. Too sarcastic. Talks negatively about people from other classes. Rude when having a bad day. Talks like everyone owes him something when were the ones paying him to teach us. No respect and treats students like we belong to him. Asks for coffee every morning. Not pleasant
Annoying, not helpful at all, and he thinks his way is the only way to learn.
DO NOT take him for any history! his teaching techniques are horrible he has favorites&if you're not a fav. you're screwed. He really doesn't care about you W an s cocky attitude makes you hate history even more. he thinks his way is the only way. DONT TAKE HIM !!! or enjoy your F or W.
Do yourself a favor and not take this professor he is too self centered and his tests are just horrible you have to memorize HIS notes and all tests are open response.(NO MULTIPLE CHOICE)so it's either no it or you don't. If You miss a day he will never inform you about materials that you've missed, you'd have to get them from another student. Bad!
Mr. Corey is sarcastic and rude. He publicly ridicules students for personal beliefs, and he wastes class time with pointless rants. We were supposed to have 6 tests and a final, but we ran out of time and only had 3 tests and a final. Do yourself a favor and do not take his class.
Mr. Corey is funny but IT HIS TESTS ARE IMPOSSIBLE! Honestly I thought I would be okay if I studied but the last couple tests I had I studied for hours and can't get past a 70. He is really smart and I kinda think he's a failed comedian but I wouldn't take him because I have all A's and a 70 in his class.
He is very passionate about his subject, and knows what he is teaching. The tests are difficult, but he offers help if you need it. A lot of people are complaining about how hard the tests are, but if you study the material like YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO DO, you'll pass.
There are no tricks in this class. Corey puts his notes on blackboard, print them out, way easier than writing them. IF YOU ARE NOT GOOD AT STUDYING, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. His notes need to be studied word for word to get a good grade on the test. Notes are extensive, ranging from 1-9 pages to 1-14. Read the notes, participate & your're fine.
Very tough class(relative to any other class I've taken). Tests were brutal. First two: 60. Third: 75. Fourth: 98. Barely passed with a C. In order to pass tests you must memorize his notes word for word. It helps to have someone look at the notes and ask you questions to make sure you're really learning it. Recommend only to history lovers.
Mr. Corey is a character. Very blunt and clear of what he expects. He is intelligent, and passionate about history. He makes the class interesting and the notes he provides are all you need to pass the test. Tests are TOUGH no multiple choice, 30 short response EVERY TIME. If you understand the material and pay attention, you will do fine.
Most people are saying his tests are very tough which is simply not true if you go to every class, pay attention and study. No curve balls or anything like that because he tells you exactly what to do. The people who didn't get a good grade or are writing very difficult reviews probably never went to class or went to talk to him after class.
Mr. Corey is an amazing professor. He loves and fully understands what he's teaching. He teaches about why things matter and how as opposed to names and dates. His test are difficult, but if you listen attentively to his lectures, you'll do fine. You can ask him questions during a test and he'll help you best he can. He's also extremely sarcastic.
He is incredibly rude and sarcastic to students. Tries to veil this behind a joking manner. This creates a stressful and claustrophobic kind of class environment. Do not take!
He is very sarcastic and extremely rude. Tests are very hard mainly because he spends most of the class time picking on students, embarrising them and mocking their beliefs instead of actually teaching the subject, he has realy no respect for students so please dont take him unless you want to be bullied.
Being an AB student, I found his class almost impossible to pass because his notes are very extensive and questions are fill inthebank with only very specific answers being given full credit. Any student that asks for help is subjected to public belittling. Mr Corey is a grown bully that makes the class uncomfortable and unwilling to ask for help.
I hated him the very first couple classes but once I actually understood what he wanted and what he was looking for it was a breeze. He makes the tests straight from the lecture notes that he provides. So memorize the important stuff off the notes and you will pass. he wants the answer verbatim. No assignments other than tests
There are 5 test and vocab for homework every chapter and thats it. every class is lecture the whole time. he explains stuff very well but it was hard for me to stay awake because i was not interested in the material. very hard at grading. very dry seance of humor gets angry easy
Dr. Corey is overwhelmingly arrogant and rude. He spends more time trying to prove to students that they don't know anything than actually teaching. His tests are simple and questions come directly from his notes and the assigned readings, but Corey's personality made the class a miserable experience for me.
Michael Corey is the worst professor I have ever had. He spends half the class talking about nonsense and belittles students, and then gets upset if the class isn't focused. His tests are fill in the blank from his notes but must be word for word. I would never take his class again. I'm great at history and I didn't learn a thing in this class.
He was a really good teacher and i enjoyed having his class. He made history easier to learn and breakes everything down so it can be understood. He gives you the notes and specific pages to read out of the book and the tests go in chronological order. Great teacher and I plan on taking him again.
Entertaining but he's kinda rude. Ask a question and he jokes on u. Class isn't that hard but the test are super annoying. He gives 5-9 pages of notes each test and then gives a 20 question test through all that info. I don't know about you but if you have a life and work a lot like me DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. Way to much study time for one class.
Really enjoyed taking his class, I actually took him for both AMH2010 and AMH2020. His jokes are funny and his lectures are entertaining. I felt like he was very knowledgeable about history and I feel like I retained a lot of the information he provided. You HAVE TO study for tests or you will fail them, but if you do study the tests are a breeze.
Never again. Took 40 minutes of class to talk to the front rows of the room ( sharing stories and laughing the whole time) , then someone else starts talking to their friend then he gets mad for you not being focused. Ridiculous. He is more of a philosopher than a history teacher. Never again.
Would not take again or recommend any other student to take him. He shouldn't be teaching.
mr corey starts the class of by talking about literally nothing for an hour and then tries to scramble the lecture into the end i would NOT recommend him. The tests are 30 questions. 24 straight from the notes and 6 from the book. ALL FILL IN THE BLANK!
Hes an amazing teacher but his tests are insane! 24 questions from the notes and 6 random questions from the book. ALL FILL IN THE BLANK!!!! But if you need help he is ALWAYS there to help you. Hes easy to talk to and really tries to understand your situation. If asked he has amazing study tips that will help you pass.
horrible professor, would never take this class again. I have had straight As my entire life and this class is impossible. Tests are insane with 24 write outs from the notes and 6 from book readings. Usually just complains and never teaches. Would not recommend to anyone. Worst professor I ever had.
Test are written response but he looks for short specific answers. Read the notes and read the pages from the book he assigns because that is exactly what's on the test. He gets distracted very easily and will go off on 20 minute tangents so you have to try and force him back on topic but if you call him out on it that will just set him off again
The test are fill in the blank and can be very confusing. He tends to get off topic sometimes but it can be nice to have a break from the lectures. There are not many assignments so doing good on the test is essential to passing
Well.. all in all he's a nice funny guy. Can come off rude if you take him to seriously.. TESTS SUCK! All fill in blanks (30) all with specific answers from his notes/book. Ugh... He does talk nonsense a lot.. but he knows his stuff!! Is willing to help you! But.. would probably choose someone else.. (Sorry Mr. C. )
In order to pass this class, you really have to read the notes a few times then try to actually memorize the notes line by line page by page. Make sure you read the sections he gives you to read in the book. First you read it just to read it, then read it again and actually try to break down the paragraphs in order to understand. The Vocab adds up.
The hardest class I have ever taken. All his tests are fill in the blank, and they have to be verbatim from the notes. You HAVE to read the notes for a couple of hours a day to remember them. His lectures are boring and pointless. Vocab is the homework, and its worth 10% and tests are worth 90%. Would not recommend.
Being an A student this class was ridiculous. Would not recommend to anyone. Horrible professor!!
Just don't bother taking this course if you don't have a great memory, or if you don't want to occasionally be made fun of. Terminology is the easiest thing in this class, testing is horrible. Lectures are just notes being read. You wont really learn much here.
I took this class for AMH2020 and I learned nothing from this man. He spends the first 30 minutes to an hour talking about Dunkin' Donuts. He's a little on the rude side when you ask him a question and he embarrasses you in front of the class. He's very picky with the terminology assignments, tests are word for word. Not recommended.
HATES the word "studying" and prefers that his students actually learn the material but makes the tests almost completely short answer with the correct answers being verbatim from the notes. all these tests did was make students memorize or "study" the notes word for word. grades "at his discretion". I do NOT recommend taking.
This professor may be a challenge to work with at first, but if you show him you're serious about learning he is a wonderful professor! I have taken him for two semesters (AMH 2010/2020). His tests are easy compared to the other classes out there. If you struggle on first tests don't worry, because he will only count that as a 60% even if you received a 25%. Even if you fail all his tests you can still pass his class if you get 10s on the terminology paper--which is just 20 terms from his notes with their definitions and context. I think he is an amazing professor, and would gladly take another class with him!
Wonderful professor. Lectures can be long but Mr. Corey keeps them fun. Never in a bad mood and was always there to help. Tests can come across as difficult, but if you actually study and ask questions, you'll have no problems passing. Only pokes fun at the rambunctious students. I highly recommend Mr. Corey if you're a serious student.
Mr. Corey is a good professor. If you study the notes that he gives you, the tests are not that difficult. You can't expect to read them once and get an A on the test. You can come up and ask him questions during the test, and he will tell you if it's what he is looking for. If you show him that you want to be there, he will see that you care.
Although I was not a fan of the way he tests, his lectures are great! Be prepared to participate, it's not optional! Definitely an entertaining guy!
He is one of the greatest teachers for history, he knows a lot of history! but when asking a question he answers it with sarcasm and gives you an attitude (like a girl) sometimes makes you feel dumb when you are having a hard time understanding HW. He is great at giving lectures. I would take him again but his attitude sets me off.
WARNING: Do not take this guy if you expect to earn this credit His tests are EXACT sentences from about 6-8 pages of notes! He expects you to memorize word for word, there is no multiple choice and he is a VERY harsh grader. Listen to the other peoples comments, you will regret taking his course. There is basically NO additional work for points/ec
I studied extremely hard for his tests, but end up getting nothing higher than a 60%. Other people in my class have this same issue. He expects you to answer the test word for word from his lecture notes. He is very sarcastic, and does't answer your questions directly. Worst experience ever!
I would never take this teacher again. He is very rude and his tests and homework assignments are tough. If the answer isn't straight from the notes or textbooks, and isn't word for word the answer is wrong. He is sarcastic but not in a funny way, it's in a mean way. He is overall a very mean teacher, I recommend you to NOT take any of his classes.
Overall, he wasn't a bad guy. However, be prepared to study up to 5 pages of notes and memorize it word for word. Terminology isn't bad, but he wants very specific answers. You will get an understanding after the first assignment for sure.
Do not take any of his classes. Grades 90% tests and 10% homework which makes no sense at all. Very rude and sarcastic. Also tests are 30 open ended questions which answers must be WORD FOR WORD from the notes. Class was an absolute joke!
Straight A student till this Class. If you don't memorize 8+ pages of notes, you won't pass
he lectures about things that are not on the tests and the tests are verbatim from the notes. Notes are 7-14 pages long that require full memorization. you MUST read book or highest grade you will receive on test is 80. oh and he loves taking pictures of students
Prof. Corey is amazing! He is very note oriented, but if you actually study them and not just glance over them you WILL pass! If you ever have trouble see him after class he is really understanding of EVERYTHING. Yes he does have sarcasm, but it is not harsh! The negative reviews are students who most likely did not do as he said in the 1st class!
He pretty much asks a question and then if you don't get it right he makes you feel stupid and if you get it right he asks a question again and again and again until you don't know and then makes you look stupid.
Just a warning to other students: don't take him! He's very weird and his class is nearly impossible to pass. He makes me feel unfortable, as with other girls. He takes pics, tries to keep students a long time after class and I was the only one he gave a sticky note with a smiley face before a test. He's a very tough grader and kinda creepy.
Mr Corey takes time to explain the notes through his lectures. He makes you study hard to earn your grades. Like he said once : "hope is not the recipe for success."
Don't be freaked out by the
If you can't handle being picked on a little bit, don't take him. He will make you feel dumb sometimes but he does it to the whole class, so don't take it too hard. Memorize your notes and you will get an A on the test. I used flash cards. Don't panic at the beginning, if you study hard and don't take the insults too hard, you will do good.
THIS IS THE ABSOLUTE WORST CLASS EVER. Not only does the professor come in late by 10 minutes every day other than test day but he is rude. Your grades are terminology basically just vocab and exams. You have to remember 5 pages of notes word for word and if they're not word for word on the test then the answer is wrong. Don't take him, warning!!!!
Enjoyed his lectures, actually learned. Tests are not multiple choice so they are difficult but they are straight from the notes. You will be graded well if you actually put in the time and effort.
This was my first time taking Professor Corey I took his morning class with my girlfriend and at first he did seem a little mean but at the end we were so happy we didn't drop him. Hes honestly a very caring person who just wants you to work hard for your grade he gives notes for all the test you just need to study them. If you work hard youll pass
If you're not willing to put everything you have into studying for these tests, don't take his class. Notes are pages and pages long and there's no hint of which parts will be on the test and which parts won't be. Wants you to ask questions, then makes you look and feel stupid when you do. Only pro is he never gave me less than a 60 on tests.
Tests are ridiculous if you do not start studying at least 2 weeks before you stand almost no chance of passing. The terminology takes a couple hours and is worth almost nothing. The lectures are actually very informative but he is sarcastic and wastes alot of time. Asking questions will never get you a real answer, almost always a sarcastic remark
There are 5 terminology assignments, 5 tests, and one essay. That's it. Everything you need to pass this class is in the notes, which you go over during class. He is a good lecturer but will teach you things that are sometimes irrelevant and not on the tests. Everything is submitted on paper, as he is not very tech savvy. Keep in close contact.
Mr. Corey made my history experience not a pleasant one. Passing this course means you have to memorize 9+ pages of notes for the exams. There were suppose to be 6 exams in my course. It started to become less about learning history and more about memorizing his specific notes. Very stressful class and 90% of grade comes from tests.
Caring individual that weeds out the weak in the first class, he is generally a sarcastic guy, but he is also very accessible outside of class and wants you to do well. He has 6 sections he is supposed to cover but in amh2010 and amh2020 we only got through 5 sections (meaning 5 tests) Great guy overall
Different style of teaching but is straight forward with what is required from you as a student. Not the typical boring American History teacher. Only test heavy because he uses a different testing technique but most of everything comes from notes and is clear you just need to study.
straight forward of what's on tests. I took it as a minister and got an A. History not my strong point either. Doesn't make you remember dates and names. He like you think about cause and effect.
terminology due every tuesday. test every week.
I thought I failed this class come to find out I got a C. Found out what it is to really have to study. There were no surprises just test that were not multiple choice.
I found his test difficult due to it being only written response and must memorize everything from the notes up to 8 pages of notes. His class consists of 6 exams each 30 questions and 6 terminology assignments which are terms from each section. Also 5 question from each test you'll have to read out the book for the answers not in the notes.
He is pretty lenient with his grading, which really helped me out because history is not my strong suit. He wants you to talk to him if you're having trouble so he can help you. He's a really good teacher!!
He wastes so much time! It took three full classes for him to begin actually speaking about history. He makes the class seem like a bunch of stupid kids. Now when he did begin lecturing it was quite interesting, but as ALWAYS begins to ramble on. Haven't taken an exam yet, and these notes are so all over the place with the colors I dont even know.
horrible teacher talks about traffic for 20 minutes before starting class. His notes are impossible to understand. He grades very harsh and for very detailed.
if you cant remember four or five pages of just a full page of notes do not bother taking him. he tries to make the lectures interesting but in reality everything he says means absolutely nothing. if you your taking this class and there is no way out just read those notes over and over again.
This class was extremely difficult because there were only 5 tests worth 80% of your grade and 6 terminology assignments worth 20%. 4-5 pages of notes to memorize for the test and your answers have to be written very specifically and if they arent you wont get credit, overall had a horrible experience
If you have photographic memory and could memorize 5 pages of notes every two weeks then this class if for you. He lectures for the entire hour and fifteen mins about only a small bit of the notes so basically useless. He expects your answers on the test to be word for word and nothing less. Very difficult class regarding very boring subjects.
in order to pass this class you must have a photographic memory to memorize the notes word for word because his tests are fill in the blank. When you ask him for help he is not willing to give it to you and will simply say that all the questions you need asked are in the syllabus. Worst professor i ever had in college.
DO NOT TAKE MICHAEL COREY!!!!! This guy was the WORST teacher I have EVER taken. For tests you have to memorize WORD FOR WORD 5+ pages of notes! If you dont write the answer word for word (even if you write the correct answer) you get half or NO credit. He comes into class 10 minutes late every day and keeps you later. DONT TAKE MICHAEL COREY!
I took this professor last fall semester and it was the hardest class I have ever taken. Professor Corey always talked about how we have to grow up out of high school and learn past cramming certain things in our brains for a test, he wanted us to learn the actual concepts. The class was not terrible; take if you have photographic memory.
HARDEST teacher you will ever take! Read all of these entries and believe them! It will be impossible to pass this class if you do not have photographic memory! He only test on memorizing the notes he made! No multiple choice test!!! Just fill in the blank ! If you do not write out the answer word for word from the notes its wrong! Very Hard! :(
He is the rudest teacher, he gets into everyone's personal business, he is very opinionated and he wants things don exactly how he wants it, he takes off points if you forget to underline a word in terminology. DEFINITELY would NEVER take again.
If your willing to put in the time you can pass. This is a tough class, not for sissies. Yes, it's a lot of memorization. Pay attention to the lectures. If you need help ask. Has an open door policy and willing to assist with suggestions to help you pass.
Clear on what is expected and I appreciated that. Gives you everything you need to be to get an A, but you need to put in the effort and follow directions. Tests are straight from the notes he provides you, which you can print out. Makes history relevant if you pay attention.
PROFESSOR COREY WAS ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. I HAVE NEVER STRUGGLED IN A CLASS SO MUCH BECAUSE HE MADE IT ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO PASS. ALL TESTS ARE FILL IN THE BLANK AND HIS SARCASTIC RUDE ATTITUDE IS A HUGE PROBLEM. HE TREATS EVERYONE LIKE IF HE IS BETTER AND SMARTER THAN THEM.
Mr. Corey really makes you work for your grade. Sometimes rude, but for the most part wants every one to succeed. There are text book readings in which 5 questions from your 30 question test come from. Tests are not multiple choice and you must answer the questions in the wording of the notes for full credit. You will also have to do terminology.
When you ask for help on the simplest things he doesnt want to help. He always responds with slick answer. He wants us to come on time and he doesnt even come on . When he says check the course website and then you actually check it and cant find it he doesnt even help or tell you what your looking for.
Don't take his class. He acts like he knows everything. Doesn't help you if you ask;he will always have a smart remark. Without him answering your question. He shouldn't be a professor honestly. Also, he expects you to memorize notes, keep in mind it's 1000+ words, word for word. DON'T TAKE HIM!
I took him for AMH2010. I've gotten nothing less than an A in any history class I've taken. I passed with a 70. He makes you remember the smallest details from the test book. Test was all written answers- no multiple choice. I spent more time studying in this class than all other 3 combined and still didn't do well. Calls you out during lectures.
Ive passed every single class Ive ever taken and this is the hardest class you will ever take. Tests are not multiple choice and if you write even 1 word different from the notes on the test its wrong. Comes 10 minutes late everyday and holds us later. Hardest class to pass. No matter how smart you are you will most likely not pass this class.
So, Michael Corey Is really not a teacher of choice He gets off topic easily, Does not explain homework(Vocabulary) and will explain why you received your grade. He is also very bias not real grading function or guide. if you are easily offended HE is not the teacher for your.
Very difficult class, as a straight A student I am embarrassed to say that I struggled to receive a low C in his class. Took 3 failed terminology assignments for him to explain to me what I did wrong and he has a very snobbish attitude. Test questions come directly from the notes, but the last portion is from the textbook and is obscure details.
Just don't take him. period.
have to study or you wont pass. Everything comes from the notes so you have all the information.
Good teacher, tries to make the lecture enjoyable. Make sure you study and follow his directions step by step precisely.
Although the class overall, was indeed difficult, the brilliant lectures and great explanation made me remember and understand the material. Very solid professor, but you have to work to fully enjoy the class and LEARN SOMETHING.
Professor Corey is very clear about what he expects from his students on the first day of class. Your grade in the class is based on the terminology assignments and the tests. He takes the time to really explain the material and tries his best to make the lectures fun. His class changed my view and opinions on American History.
He was an awful professor. I believe that he actually wanted to fail kids instead of helping them succeed in the course. All of my terminology assignments were formatted the same way and something different was wrong every time. He never told me what I needed to do to change them. I guess if you buy him coffee and kiss his butt he will give you a A
He is very bad. I took him two semesters ago. Don't take this guy unless you have Starbucks for him and he doesn't help you in "life". Talks about how his tests will help you later on. I'd drop out or don't take him at ALL. I only took him because I was a freshman with my first class. DONTTTTT DO IT! He shouldn't be a professor tbh. He cares less!!
Please save yourselves. You'd think because his rating on here is so bad. He would decide to become a decent professor. He is very difficult. He has no life. He just watches tv and eat and comes to irsc mad he isn't where he wants to be. Don't be stupid and take him. Facts!
Terrible. Worst teacher I have personally ever had. Steer clear
He seemed to really care that we succeeded in our classes and was very tough on us. He was very straight forward and blunt and I would definitely take him again.
I am so appreciative for the rest of the story. His teaching style helped me to grasp the information presented, settle in my brain, and return to me years later when needed. One of the absolute BEST professors I have had to date. Noteworthy for me are the truths regarding the gilded age and how applicable to current politics.
Professor Corey would be a good choice. I took 2 history classes at the same time and he was definitely the better professor. Help is always given and hes there to see his students succeed. He has a humor you definitely have to get used to but I found him hilarious. He gave extra credit at the end and his tests are exactly from the notes.
Confusing and seems to make it his main priority for us to fail. Do not choose this professor at all. Youll regret it.
He's pretty passionate about History and I enjoyed that. He gives notes to study. When going over them if he says "this is important" you best believe it will be on the test. If he repeats something more than once, most likely it will be on the test. Study your notes and study the required text readings and you will pass your exams.
One of the best courses I've had, gonna sign up for the next hist class next sems. Although he makes you work for it, but he will explain to you your mistakes and everything on the test is from the notes.
at first I thought he was horrible. but after a few weeks I realized that learning was important to him. I also realized he is extremely SMART. this professor had opened my eyes to a lot about our country. if I had a choice to take him again. I most definitely would.
Lots and lots of memorization. The notes are exactly what's on the tests, along with some questions from the textbook. Not a very easy guy to talk to. Expect to stay after class because he does run a bit over time. If you can't handle intense sarcasm, I would not recommend that you take him.
If you are going to take this class either AMH 2010 or 2020, it is a necessity to study for every test days before if you want to pass.
So tough, just avoid this teacher.
Absolutely awful. Worst prof I have ever had. DO NOT take his class. He wants his students to fail and will not help you unless you bring him coffee. The tests are on HIS notes with HIS answers. I cannot stress enough, having taken his class I want to make sure you do not have to go through this struggle as I have. Do not take his class.
Tests are written answers no multiple choice or true or false, study hard because then answers have to be exactly from the notes terminology assignments have to be EXACTLY like his example down to spacing, if you miss anything from this example you ou get points taken off. He is a good teacher just hard class
I have never had a professor that has been extremely degrading. If you ask a question he gets very annoyed. He is extremely picky with his grading, would not recommend him.
He's a very hard grading and the test is not multiple choice. It was a very interesting and entertaining class to listen to. I would not recommend taking him for accelerated class because it gets really fast near the end. I loved his class because it's about listening to history stories and looking over the notes. I would definitely take him again.
I learned a lot of life lessons in his class. But nothing that actually pertained to the material. Therefore, test were extremely difficult because he taught nothing that we got tested on. Also, no notes or study guides were ever provided.
This man is by far the most button pushing, aggravating individual I have ever met in my life. His grading is RIDICULOUS and he takes off ten points if you are missing even a minor space and wording. He rarely teaches the material, just goes on about how the students arent good enough and how it isnt highschool. Plus hes just plain rude.
Didn't learn a thing except for his daily stop to Dunkin Donuts. Tests are NOT multiple choice. Super tough grader on homework. You will never get more than a 70 on your homework. Mind you, most of the class got 50s or less on the first two tests but nobody got more than a 70 on the rest. BEWARE. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS.
Let me be clear that this class is much more word for word memorization than actual learning. He teaches very clearly but he makes the tests in ways that you dont care to actually learn the material youre just desperate to pass. He's very precise and wants whats exact from the text and powerpoints. I passed fairly easily but others struggled badly.
The HW he assigns has to be in the exact font size, exact spacing, has to be stapled, or else he will give you a zero. The first time I made this mistake he gave me a zero without any explanation. Also his tests are written response and must be word for word from notes. One time I used a synonym for a word in the notes and I got half credit only.
