Amazing teacher has a great passion for the subject. Course objectives are very clear, you have to work for your grad, but his knowledge is incredible everything you do has meaning you wont regret taking his class.
He is an incredible professor. Yes, you have to work hard, but what are you here at college to do? To learn. And he sincerely cares about the students. No nonsense though. If you don't do something, there's no make up. So work hard. I promise you'll love the class.
Loved this class!!! He tells you what you need to know for the three tests at the beginning of the semester so it is up to you if you study sooner than later. He cares about his students and is really passionate about art and music. I learned a ton in this class and had a lot of fun doing it. Just do your homework cause there is not much!!!
This professor is no-nonsense. He gives a lot of meaningful assignments. I haven't taken a test yet but he has already been extremely helpful and thorough in answering questions before and after class. He makes the subject matter more interesting just by the obvious passion he has for it. Great guy.
First of all, Show up for class. He does not take attendance, but if you skip you will not do well on his tests! The entire class is just a lecture and note taking and what ever you talk about could be on the quizesExams. He will not take late work. So don't wait until the last minute, cause if your computer crashes, tough luck. He is very funny.
This man is an awesome teacher. He is really helpful and he really enjoys what he does. The class can be hard sometimes, but you will learn so much.
Really knowledgeable, and passionate about what he teaches. He is strict but fair. The class was really enjoyable and engaging, his lectures were very informative and helpful. YOU MUST READ THE BOOK!! There is a lot of memorization. But over all he is a really good teacher, who cares about his students and will take time to help.
I thought Brother Cornick was a little too hard on us at times, especially grading wise. This class is supposed to be inspiring, fun, and more hands on in my opinion. Instead, I felt like I was sitting through a math teacher's class. He could have been a lot more creative with his approach to teaching a photography class. He is no nonsense.
He is very poised & explains things well. He has open note quizzes after each week on the material that is covered so it's an easy 100% because it's word for word in your notes, 3 tests, & a few iLearn assignments. He tells you exactly what will be on the tests so there is no concern or hesitation if he will have something out of the blue on it.
Best teacher I've ever had. Learned so much from this course. Its not the easiest class but its worth the effort. Take Brother Cornick you will not regret this!
He was very passionate about what he teaches. The lectures felt rather long, and uninteresting. His tests are super hard, and there is endless study material. But as long as you are attentive in class and study like a mad man you will be fine. You take lots of notes in his class. Its hard but almost worth it. He helps you learn a lot.
An amazing teacher because he is so passionate about what he teaches. Not too much homework, but there are a lot of requirements. The exams are exactly what we talked about in class so if you don't go to class you will not pass this class.
Brother Cornick is incredibly passionate about what he teaches, for me, that made all the difference. He doesn't really have homework for his assignments you just mark whether or not you did them. But if you miss a class, you're kind of screwed because the entire class is note taking and the info on the tests are exactly what you wrote down 4 notes
Brother Cornick is honestly one of my favorite professors. His class is a little tough, but he makes it really fun and interesting. You can tell that he loves what he teaches... But make sure you go to class and take notes!
Brother Cornick is very detailed in his presentation. He knows a ton about everything he teaches. He has such enthusiasm! There was never a day he was unprepared. And he brought such a great spiritual insight to all the art forms we studied. Don't miss class, we cover a ton each time. So worth it though, he'll change the way you see the world.
This class and the teacher facilitates a spiritual environment of learning and you'll come out of here more enlightened than before. Even if you aren't a great test taker, it's an easy A if you keep up on everything else. Just going to class is the main thing.
He is a tough grader and test heavy because he wants you to memorize and remember everything you have taught. His classes are very lecture heavy, you are only allowed to use paper and pencil and can't use laptops to take notes. You don't have homework in the class just quizzes and really hard exams. Make sure to read the textbook!
Brother Cornick is a great professor. It is obvious that he has put a great deal of time and effort into preparing for his lectures and is knowledgeable about the material being taught. Don't be afraid to ask questions! He is invested in your understanding of the material and will go out of his way to find you an answer. The assignments are simple.
This guy legit expects you to recognize music from a 15seconds snippet on tests. And he also grades you on the spelling for the composer (r u srs?) Even though this is not even an Egnlish class he will mark down assignments based on grammar and spelling. Definitely knows his stuff though; snowflakes beware.
Extremely knowledgeable/well prepared but VERY lecture heavy, and gives off a slightly condescending air most of the time. No room for dissenting opinions/discussion. Easy homework, challenging memorization-HEAVY tests. PROS: invested, cares about the subject, respected, CONS: condescending, hard grader. Not terrible, but NOT top recommend.
the exams online are easy you only need to check yes or no and you get the full points , it helps you a lot in your grade , the only difficult part is the exam at the TC . Take notes because he won't upload the pptt. Even thought , he looks serious and hard grader actually he is kind and he's available always to help you
I can honestly say that this is the best class that I've taken at this university. Brother Cornick's an amazing professor, and he genuinely cares about his students. He seems intimidating at first, but trust me, you'll love being in his class! He is very easy to access and helpful. It's difficult, but I've never left a class feeling more fulfilled.
Brother Cornick, is a nice teacher . You'll learn a lot, if you have a problem he'll be ready to hear you. There are tests online that are easy, you have 3 exams that are kind of hard but you can get a good grade if you take notes of the class. The tests questions are only about the notes that you take in class
Brother Cornick is an amazing teacher! The History of Photography class has a lot of material which can be nerve racking in the beginning. Go to class even though it is not mandatory. You will miss a lot of great information if you do not go. As long as you come to class and are willing to learn and memorize, you will do great. My favorite class!
very good teacher. Teaches the entire class period and covers a lot. He will probably trick you a couple times during the semester, but he will tell you what to expect from his class. You don't have to attend class, but if you miss class you will miss out on valuable information.
This is the hardest and best class I have ever taken in my college career so far. Brother Cornick is the best teacher for it. You will learn SO much, even though it is a ton of work it will be worth it. Make sure you have time for this class and really appreciate what you learning. I really recommend taking this class.
Brother Cornick is knowledgeable in his field and loves being able to share it with others. He expects fairly of his student which can be taken as high expectations to some. The course load outside the classroom was light and not difficult. Make sure to keep up on studying for the exam and on the daily assignments and you will do well.
Brother Cornick is a great teacher! He knows his stuff, he wants you to learn, wants to get to know you, a fun teacher, and is helpful. The lectures are long and I wrote so much, but it is worth it. You need to know your stuff and push yourself to learn. Overall he is an awesome teacher and you can tell that he is passionate about the subject.
Brother Cornick is great. He cares about us and is always available outside of class. The material is fascinating and is clearly explained. The class lectures differ somewhat from the book, but in a good way. I find it sad that some students complain about the work or that he's "condescending". That tells me more about the student than him.
Condescending. Make sure you read and memorize information about each art period.
Brother Cornick is a very knowledgeable man and he knows his stuff! Get ready to take a lot of notes because you will need them. He is very helpful and he wants you to do good in his class and learn. He is a very fun teacher to get to know and talk about the material and your photography experience with. Overall I highly recommend Brother Cornick!!
Brother Cornick has been one of my favorite teachers to be honest. His class requires you to read but man, it's so worth it! I really like the way he teaches because it helps the student understand the readings a lot better. He's also very energetic which helps a lot especially when that class was taught from 5-6:pm. Very caring and chill guy.
I found him to be a really great teacher. He's well informed and qualified upon expounding upon the pieces of art in class. The man's got passion. At some points, his lectures can be, but rarely are dry, and I really did enjoy his class. Lots of reading and exam prep work. If you do not do either, you will fail. Just keep keep up, and work hard :)
Awesome teacher. This course you definitely need to read what he asks and create a good study guide for the tests. Pretty easy class as long as you kept up on reading. Only assignments are the tests and attendance. GO TO CLASS.
Great lectures. Lots of information to take in. All the information for your exams and weekly quizzes are given in class so you need to attend, take good notes and you'll do great. Learnt so much and the time is always filled. Homework was enjoyable to do as you get to attend different cultural events.
Bother Cornick is very passionate about humanities! The tests are difficult, but if you show up, take notes, and study youll be fine! I have grown so much from this class! I love it! Hes a great choice!!
Excellent teaching style. He got you involved in the material. A bit hard for a Humanities 101 class, but nothing he gave was unreasonable and contributed to learning. I learned a ton of interesting things here.
Brother Cornick is a great professor, he is very straightforward with what is expected of you. His lectures are interesting and the trick is to take good notes in his class. I enjoyed the assignments because they require you to attend events outside of class like plays and symphonies. I would take him again, I became very cultured from his class.
He is awesome, thoughtful, and a good professor. I learned a lot of useful information from his class, and it was a really good experience. If you are interested in art history, music, theater, etc., I recommend this lecture. And if you are diligent and do all his homework, you will get good grades and great insights.
This was my favorite class I have ever taken. The test are hard if you don't study during the unit. Going to class is very important! Brother Cornick is such a great teacher and you can tell that he loves what he does. I would recommend this class to everyone!
The class was fantastic. The exams were well made and portioned appropriately. The instructor is really knowledgeable and willing to help students. The course material is splendid. There is a good amount of study time needed. Brother Cornick is one of the best instructors here at BYU-Idaho. I would strongly recommend this instructor to any student.
Brother Cornick is an amazing professor! He is very passionate about what he teaches and he explains the material in a way that is both memorable and productive. He grades very fairly and gives opportunity to improve upon most big assignments. Overall a great teacher and an inspiration, would most definitely take again.
Brother Cornick teaches this class for his students. He wants everyone to feel the passion and motivation that can come from studying the creations and talent of others. He gives great lectures and you can tell humanities means a lot to him. If you go into his class with a sincere desire to get something out of it then he is the perfect teacher.
He expects each student to put forth an effort in his class. He provide ample opportunities to improve your grade through extra credit. he is always available for questions and will help the student in any way he can. Be engaged, don't slack off, and study for the exams and you will earn a good grade. One of the best teachers I have had so far.
I really enjoyed taking Humanities class from Brother Cornick. His lectures are interesting and full of examples, which was very interesting for me. You will have to write journal, in order to complete the last assignment, but you can share your thoughts there, not the lectures. In general class in easy, but requires some good preparation to exams.
He has very intriguing classes, which are rich in content and information. They are very interesting and fun to listen to. His last few tests are hard; the questions on the tests seem to be more of trick questions. The extra credit he has for the class makes it easy to pass though, and he has a lot of enriching homework assignments.
Professor Cornick is a very fair professor, he shows no favoritism and has excellent skills communicating the content. He does not expect perfection but if you show up and do the homework you will get the grade you earn. Professor Cornick is a marvelous teacher and you will not be disappointed at the end, he is a great man and all around good man.
Awesome teacher who really cares about his students. He wants you to pass, but he sticks to his guns. Tests are very difficult, and there is a lot of reading, but you learn the subject (instead of just memorizing it). Other than that, not too much homework. If you love art/humanities/history and are willing to work hard, then take Brother Cornick!
Brother Cornick's classes are awesome, Just make sure you do your work.
If you do the work, you will do fine. Good amount of homework and tests are kind of difficult so make sure to study. Brother Cornick is pretty understanding and a great professor.
Really wonderful class but hard tests. studying is a must but doable. the lectures are awesome! Nice person who really cares about you and helps you work though things if they come up.
Take detailed notes during each lecture (every class period) and study them, or you will not pass the class. There is a lot of memorization and not a lot of study helps, so your notes will make or break you. He is a great person and very passionate about what he teachers so the lectures aren't boring, but the tests are very hard.
Passionate about humanities. If you let him, he will enable you to be excited for class through his enthusiasm. Tests are easy if you know what are it them. I've had questions on exams that were only briefly discussed in class. That is the only thing that is annoying. Also, if you miss a deadline, you're screwed. He will not let you make it up.
Awesome class by an awesome professor! Book can be confusing (Cornick says so)because it's not in chronological order, but it helps prepare you for his lectures. Tests are heavy, so you should study after your first lecture. He gives awesome feedback and is willing to work with you. I'm not a Photo/Art Major, but this class was worth it.
Although this class has a ridiculous amount of stuff to learn, this professor teaches it in a coherent and entertaining way. He is passionate about what he teaches, well organized, and cares about his students. An all around great guy, and fantastic teacher.
I thoroughly enjoyed the course and Brother Cornick. The material is sometimes difficult and requires work, but when completed, you learn a lot and will be prepared for the exams. The study guides are very helpful and reading the course materials that are posted online helps a lot to improve on the tests. Overall, I liked the class!
Professor Cornick is as caring as he is inspirational. Most of the material is based on the lectures, so well attendance is not mandatory, it might as well be. that being said, the lectures are fantastic! He cares about the class, and you can tell. Do the homework and you'll be fine. He'll answer any questions you have. Fantastic professor!
Brother Cornicks teaching style shows the importance of humanities and also incorporates the Spirit. His tests can be a little difficult if you do not have much background knowledge, but there are extra credit opportunities that can make up for a bad grade. Students are also required to keep a journal throughout the semester, don't put that off.
It is easy to see how much Brother Cornick loves what he teaches and wants us to learn the material. He may not REQUIRE attendance every class, but you wont pass the exams unless you go to class and take notes. I had some concerns about my grade that I brought up to him and he was willing to meet with me that week.
Super great teacher. He loves the subject and will make the class interesting, he knows the answers to all your questions.
It's rare that I find a professor who not only is an excellent teacher, but an excellent man, and one that I count as a friend. Michael Cornick is one of those rarities. His teaching is effective, clear, and well delivered. Not only is he personable and agreeable, but he was willing to take extra time, including time spent out of class.
Brother Cornick is a professor I wish all were like. You can tell he loves what he teaches and cares for his students. His lectures are interesting, I always left class feeling more enlightened and educated. This is what college should be! He has quizzes every week but if you take good notes you will be fine. I highly suggest this class!
Bro Cornick is a great teacher! He seems weird at first, but if you get to know him, he is so cool. He blew my mind daily with the observations and history behind the films we watched. Homework didn't' take very long and was always helpful. He gives good feedback and is willing to work with you! Only 3 absences allowed but you don't want to miss!!!
I really enjoyed this class for I learned a lot about the arts
Bro. Conick is a good teacher. He seems passionate about what he teaches. Participation outside of class is important. There are different cultural events that you have to go to, but as long as you go and pay attention you should do fine. Hes a pretty easy A as long as you actually do the prep work and go to the events.
Brother Cornick is amazing! He is very passionate and knowledgeable about the humanities and the arts. There are a lot of assignments, but he's a fair grader and does offer some extra credit. Pretty easy class to pass if you're paying attention and taking detailed notes (he doesn't allow electronic, so handwritten note-taking is required). 10/10!
Memorize the study guides for the test and go to class and you will get an A. Do the extra credit cause it will boost your grade a lot.
Classed were not specifically manditory, but if you did not show up for class, you did not do well on the tests. The material was very interesting and informative. Brother Cornick really knows the History of Photography well and will help you to understand it in great detail.
Professor Cornick has great PowerPoint presentations and he uses them very well for his lectures. He explains things very well and he has much knowledge. There were a few times that I felt there wasnt much harder I could try to study certain chapters, yet I would get bad scores on the quizzes. He could make the questions more understandable.
Brother Cornick exudes passion unparalleled by other professors. I was always thoroughly impressed by his knowledge of the film industry and he earnestly loves what he teaches. The class itself requires a decent amount of outside reading and study, but his grading system, I believe, was entirely fair. I would recommend taking if interested.
He is such an amazing teacher! He really knows what he is talking about and explains it very well. He is very open to opinions and lets you make your own opinions.
Professor Cornick is very knowledgeable about the Humanities, he cares about his students and presents the lessons to ensure their understanding of the course. His lectures are amazing, insightful, and motivating. He is very organized and has a clear outline of grades and course work. The class is fun and easy if you apply yourself!
Brother Cornick is an amazing teacher. Sure, he expects a lot from his students, but if you do the work, then you will learn so much. He really knows his stuff and also really cares about his students.
One of my favorite classes! Brother Cornick is a fantastic teacher and gives great lectures. Attendance is very important for the lectures and film labs. If you miss them you won't do well on the exams. My appreciation for film has grown from learning how to analyze films of different genres.
It is a great subject! I love learning about films, and he has a lot of great information.
An amazing professor who is dedicated to and cares greatly for the subject & students. Shares how the subject applies to our lives so it becomes more than just a class. Gives a very specific outline of the class and reviews it often throughout the semester. Teaching style is lecture-based but also interactive. A very passionate teacher of the arts!
Brother Cornick gives fair grades and make you really learn.
Great Professor. He really understands the topics. Although workloads are heavier , the class is the place to learn. If you work hard, you will definitely get an A.
Brother Cornick is incredibly knowledgeable of whatever he's teaching. This class blew my mind, expanded my love for film, and showed me whole new worlds of art. He develops personal relationships with his students and facilitates excellent class discussion. He'll always push you to do your best.
Brother Cornick was nice. I felt that he thought he was better than the class in some way. He doesn's give you any points if you misspell a word on a question on any of the tests or quizzes. He is very into the subject, however.
Brother Cornick introduced us to the humanities. The main feeling I came away with was a sense of gratitude for art, literature, and cinema. He taught in a professional and prepared manner. It was like a breath of fresh air in comparison to other professors!
Amazing teacher. You get what you put into the class. And yes, you must spell things correctly in his class. This is college, wake up and learn. You learn a lot about the arts and music. Lots of exposure to the arts outside of class. If he seems better than the student, he is. Otherwise, the student would be teaching the class.
I love how Brother Cornick is absolutely passionate about what he is teaching, I wish more of my professors where like that, it seriously makes me excited to learn about what they are so passionately teaching.
I really loved this class, it honestly is my favorite this semester. It is never a pain to come to class or do the work you assigned. I want to know and love more art! Im very grateful for this class; I would recommend it to anyone.
This class really helped me to better understand and appreciate the humanities. Brother Cornick is a very caring person and it was refreshing to have someone who cared about what they were teaching. I still remember the first day of class when I walked in, he already knew me by name. I think he is a great choice for this course.
If you actually want to learn something from a foundations class then take his class!! He has changed my view on the arts and I highly respect him. He has strict rules but they are effective and respectable.
I truly loved this class. He is the most passionate teacher I have ever met and it made the difference. No other teacher has had such an effect on me and because I knew that he loved what he taught.
Brother Cornick 's class was entirely focused on lectures and notetaking. His lectures are interesting and he is knowledgable about the humanities, but there is little opportunity for creative discussion. He allows questions and comments but doesn't always answer or respond fully, which can generally discourage discussion and inquisitive thinking.
In the classroom setting the teacher allowed us to ask questions that increased our learning in the materials that were viewed. The way the teacher taught about the material was well understood because the learning environment was a good one.
If you need your phone to live, I wouldn't take him. Takes lots of notes, but that goes for the course in general no matter what teacher you take it from. Great teacher.
I took History of Photography as a last minute elective and was surprised by how much I loved the course. You learn so much by him and his lectures are engaging and interesting. The content is difficult but he provided study guides and answers very fast to emails. He is super helpful and kind. Love the class and teacher! 10/10 recommend.
Great teacher! Super fun class! But big textbook!
He's pretty great as a teacher and his lectures are interesting but I wouldn't take him for this class though. There're 3 tests and worth a lot of your grade. It's mostly memorizing the Photographs with the artist and date. It's hard if you're not good at memorizing but he does have a lot of extra credit opportunities.
He is an awesome teacher and he actually cares about everyone in his class. I was failing and he was the first teacher that met with about my grade in person instead of sending me an email. The information load can be overwhelming, but if you study and memorize the list he gives you before each test you'll do just fine.
A very content heavy class but Brother Cornick is a really good professor. He's very passionate about what he teaches.
Brother Cornick is a great teacher and has a solid outline and expectations for the course. It's for sure intimidating, but the class is so enjoyable. You do read a lot and the tests can be heavy, but you don't have busy work. The projects and extra credit opps are awesome and help your grade a lot if you struggle on the tests. Highly recommend!
BRO. CORNICK IS THE BEST! He really makes you feel like you matter. He's really good a memorizing names and makes sure you're doing ok. He is also very passionate about what he does and it makes the class even more worth it!
Amazing teacher! The lectures were good, there were lots of extra credit opportunities, and brother Cornick is very nice and approachable. He knew everyone by name by the end of the semester! 15/10 great teacher, would definitely take another class with him!
Brother Cornick is a great teacher and great person. He respects everyone. I enjoyed his passion for the subject. It can be a tougher class because of what is expected, but you will get a lot of out of it if you put in the time. He showed me he cares by knowing my name and would often send reminders about cultural events that we needed to attend.
Brother Cornick really knows his stuff and is passionate about it but falls short when it comes to teaching it. The whole class is spent taking notes on his lecture in the dark. He's kind but the class is overall stressful while being busy work.
Brother Cornick is really amazing. His presentations are amazing and he teaches well. There is lots of awesome stuff to be learned in this class. Beware of the tests. The rest requires work, but it's not hard. But the tests really get you. Memorize the identification lists. Amazing class if you really want to learn the stuff.
Pro: He's super knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the material. He has lots of extra credit and if you work hard you can get a good grade. Cons: Lecture heavy course, you don't get much opportunity to speak in class. Lots of reading, expect to put some time in.
There was a lot of reading, but it was all pertinent to the material that was covered in class. In many cases the material was out of the book directly. I found this helpful, because it meant that I was able to review and discuss/get feedback on the reading material, or study further on lecture material. Also, he provides engaging activities, too.
Great lectures, you learn a lot so be prepared to take notes. Tests are harder, but if you study and memorize, you'll do alright. He is willing to help you out and if you need advice he is a great source.
Brother Cornick is a wonderful teacher, he is very passionate about his subjects and he really cares for his students, it's not busy work you really learn a lot from the small quizzes which are online.
Brother Cornick is an AMAZING teacher! He is very knowledgeable and passionate about what he teaches. Be ready for lots of out of class homework and assignments - reading and especially writing! He is a very understanding teacher.
If you are more than 3 minutes late to class 3 times then you automatically fail. He isn't willing to work with you, and if you don't raise your hand in class to ask questions or answer questions then he docks points. The tests are extremely hard and most of what you are graded on is those tests. Highly recommend taking this class from someone else
The way that he ties this class to the gospel is incredible. Truly life-changing class. Extremely passionate about what he does and very intelligent. He can answer any question you have and he wants you to do well in his class.
Great class and great teacher. He teaches the material well and is very helpful outside of class. Graded on attendance and participation. Also on exams and some assignments. If you miss more than 3 times unexcused you fail, but you agree to it. You can take a full sheet of paper of notes In for the exams. Its not hard to do well in the class.
He was nice and friendly but is strict about devices. Paper notes only. There is a ton of textbook reading, but if you like history you might not mind. I needed this for my major requirement but would not have taken it if i didn't have to. There are exams every other week, but he lets you use a study guide on them.
He really understands what hes teaching, and knows how to teach it, hes professional, and very caring to all of his students. He knew everyones names after a couple classes. There are great extra credit options and you even get a cheat sheet to take in on finals. I loved this class and I loved taking it from brother Cornick!!
As a course, ART201 requires a lot of reading, but Brother Cornick goes in depth on the art we cover. He's great if you want more insights on the history or culture of each piece. He is also aware of the students and quick to point out the good work you do. I'm sad he's not teaching ART202 next semester.
Michael Cornick is an excellent instructor and mentor. He really knows how to get the class to care about what it is you're all learning. He passionate and very knowledgable about what he's teaching and I have taken several classes just because he has been the teacher.
Brother Cornick is one of the best professors I have had at BYUI. He cares about his students and is super passionate about what he teaches!
The best instructor I have come across so far. Hard-working, respectable, spiritual, patient, caring, describes the instructor he is. One that can be called upon when facing challenges. He's a great teacher and sees his students like his own children, I am grateful to have met him and hope someday I'll take more courses from him.
He was a great teacher it was a real treat to learn from him. He has a real passion for the arts and it made his class extremely enjoyable
Professor Cornick knows his material, and has a great way of communicating it in class. He does present a fairly long lecture, but it is all presented in an engaging way, and he does very well in keeping student involvement open and active. There is also a bit of reading to do, but he makes it a simple matter to organize your efforts.
I really enjoyed having Bro Cornick as a professor. Homework takes time but if you stay on top of the journals, it's not bad. The lectures are so interesting and take good notes! He always trys to throw in jokes and some of the assignments are really cool! He makes the class fun to be in, just don't procrastinate! STUDY.
Mr. Cornick is a wonderful teacher. His passion for what he's teaching really shines and he inspires students to learn rather than just teaching. Participation is encouraged and attendance is mandatory. There was never a boring class with professor Cornick because he has amazing lectures and makes you think deep about the material.
Bro. Cornick made a class I thought I would hate, into a class I loved. Ive never been good at history, but he knows so much beyond the class material that every lecture was worthwhile. The tests can be difficult, but the study guide and notes from class were enough to get me high Bs and As on most exams. Highly recommend!!!
He is very knowledgeable about the arts. I loved listening to his lectures.
This class was one of my favorites! He is an excellent teacher, the work you do is to help you rather than just busywork. I would recommend this teacher 100%!
Brother Cornick is the best professor for this class! He's so highly educated about the topic and is really wants to help you learn and become well versed in film and analysis. This class changed how I see movies and is a must for everyone! He's also very responsive outside of class and easy to talk to and will do his best to help you succeed.
Brother Conrick is amazing! His class was so insightful and he is very knowledgable about film history. He is so passionate about what he teaches that it is contentious. He is the best teacher I've had in my three years at BYU-Idaho, just an incredible teacher.
This was my favorite class of the semester. He doesn't mark you off for wrong answers. It is an easy A if you put the effort in and try. This class changes your perspective of the film. It challenges you to think about what you watch more. Brother Cornick is very passionate about this topic. He is a truly caring teacher. TAKE THIS FROM CORNICK.
Brother Cornick was a great professor! You can tell that he's very passionate about what he teaches and those are the best professors. This was probably my favorite class this semester, and I'd definitely recommend this class with him to anyone :)
I really loved talking the Intro to Film class with Brother Cornick. Even though it was over zoom (because of Covid) he still made it interesting. Very nice. Knowledgeable on the subject. There were several times that I emailed him with questions and he always responded in a timely manner and was really helpful.
Great experience! Brother Cornick has an infectious passion towards films and I saw some movies that are now definitely on my favorites list! The discussions are fun and interesting I really recommend participating in them. You will learn so much more
Brother Cornick is nice and very knowledgeable on photography so you learn a lot. Grading leans more on the justice side. Tests are very memorization heavy, but if you put in the work you can get it! (Spelling is also a big thing :/) Very interesting class to take regardless.
Brother Cornick is one of my favorite professors at BYUI! I loved his lectures from ART 307. He is knows a lot about photography and helps you learn from the questions he asks and the presentations he gives. You need to be in class, participate and read to do well, but the textbook is awesome so it's enjoyable! I would take this class 100 times!
Brother Cornick was an awesome teacher! He is very passionate about what he teaches, and is willing to work with you. I was able to contact him outside class and his responses are fast and helpful. Overall, he was a wonderful teacher!
Great lectures, make sure to show up!
Bro Cornick was a good teacher. He took humanities to heart and had a deeper perspective in it. I am glad took his class because now I see humanities from a different perspective. I loved his lectures, they were nice to watch, listen and take notes on. Even though it was a lot of work and during dinner time, I am so glad that I took this class.
This teacher is really nice and approachable. The class is really interesting and I have enjoyed all the material. I recommend not taking it if you get really tired in afternoon classes. The class is good, but it mostly listening to the lecture and asking questions. It wasnt as engaging as I would have liked, but it was a really cool topic!
I absolutely loved taking this class from Brother Cornick. I always walked away from his class feeling uplifted and excited to learn more. His tests were relatively easy if you put in the work to memorize the material and he has extra credit options that were very enjoyable for me to complete. I would highly recommend taking humanities from him.
Brother Cornick is a very good professor! Participation in his class matters a lot. You don't want to miss a class or be late for class! He is a very spiritual professor, you will learn a lot from his class! He loves what he is teaching! Be ready to read poems and short stories! And getting a habit of keeping up a journal! An amazing professor!
Brother Cornick is a great teacher! You will get a good grade if you put in the effort.
Bro. Cornick is an amazing professor!!! He loves what he teaches and provides you with best information about every topic. I loved taking his class and had a great experience in learning.
He's an amazing teacher with a clear passion for this subject. He's engaging and makes this already cool subject even more interesting. I would retake this class in a heartbeat just for the experience. The homework actually helps me learn. He makes connections with each student, and I hope that I can take more classes from him in the future. 11/10
This class is one of the hardest I have taken, because it covers a wide range from painting, sculptures, photography, architecture and cinema. It's going to push you and you need to study. But it is well worth it. This class is uplifting and helped me to put things into perspective and have a better understanding of what Humanaties is about now.
Amazing class and super cool lectures and projects. You will apply everything you learn in this class in every single assignment you do.
Brother Cornick is an absolutely amazing professor! Every class was interesting and so much fun! He draw parallels between the church and the humanities all the time. As a result, you feel the spirit in nearly every class. Hes a super fun professor who really knows what hes talking about. 10/10 would recommend!
I enjoyed Brother Cornick's class. It wasn't easy, but I still liked it. Just a heads up that you'll need to take paper notes in class and need to study a lot. I had a "hybrid" or "mixed" class where I went once a week in person and attended online for the other class day. I just wish I had gotten to take the class all in person.
Brother Cornick is knowledgeable and caring. He also is enthusiastic about this course. I would definitely take a class from him again.
Brother Cornick is knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the subject. He really goes out of his way to help his students feel welcome and even needed. I will most likely take another class from him.
This teacher is organized and lectures well. The tests are straight memorization for everything taught. He will hit you with a participation grade at the very end of the semester that could drop you an entire letter grade without warning. Don't take this teacher if you have anxiety and don't like speaking in class.
Brother Cornick is very knowledgeable and he is enthusiastic about art history, but the problem isn't the teacher, the problem is the class. I didn't expect this class to be about pure memorization. I thought we were going to be pondering the art and going over what is important, but mainly it is just memorizing a lot and hoping for the best.
The class was great and educational. Brother Cornick is very knowledgeable and organized. A lot of textbook reading and memorization needed. Participation is a must. Cannot miss 3 classes or you fail. Have to participate VOCALLY throughout the course or your grade can drop a grade right at the end. Strict about devices, paper notes only.
Amazing Professor, but don't expect to get a perfect score in his class easily. The class is hard but the quality of the lectures make it beyond worth it.
You can really tell that he has a deep and abiding love of the Humanities, especially photography and the visual arts. You'll need to do a lot of studying and you'd better be prepared to take notes by hand because no electronics are allowed. He's a very immersive teacher and I would absolutely take a course from him again.
His History of Photography class is the best class I have ever taken! The 1.5 hour lectures flew by! Brother Cornick does expect a lot of you, you have to be in class without your device and take lots of detailed notes. If you want to do well on the exams you have to study. But he really knows what he is talking about, I left everyday inspired.
The class was a lot of work overall but was incredibly enjoyable and informative. Professor Cornick was knowledgeable and passionate about the History of Photography. He was personable, and easy to approach, and always willing to help. I am honestly bummed I will not have the opportunity to take any more classes with him as this class was great.
He does the best he can to make 1.5 hour art history lectures interesting. He's got a nice voice and never goes on tangents. For the class itself, I suggest you focus on studying and taking notes outside of class, and just chilling and listening during lectures. Surprisingly, I've gained a genuine appreciation for art history with his class.
He makes you want to Major in Humanities from his amazing lectures. Best class to end your day with. As easy it is to have an A same is it to loose it. Heads ups keep your attendance, do all assignments and set your mobile aside and then relax and enjoy the Class. Kudos to brother Cornick.
Brother Cornick is a great professor. He is understanding, caring and loves what he teaches. You will learn a great deal about the humanities and become closer to your Father in Heaven by doing so. If you show up to class and keep on your assignments (which are so easy and kinda fun) you will receive an A. Take this class with Brother Cornick.
Great guy! Really down to Earth and very passionate about the material. He puts a lot of work into his lectures and it shows. They are easy to take notes on, and they reflect the Exam questions perfectly. To give a critique, he sometimes asks questions that are vague. Thusly, students aren't always confident to answer since they often guess wrong.
Brother Cornick is one of the best professors I've ever had. I would take from him again for sure. The lectures were thorough and engaging. Tests were not difficult as long as you take good notes and show up to class (you won't even want to skip, class is so interesting.) He will remember your name in a class full of masked students. Great guy.
He is a very kind and caring professor who with open your mind to the world of art
Brother Cornick was the most kind and interesting professor Ive had and I wish I could take another one of his classes. If you show up every day, take the tests and do the few assignments, youll be just fine. He puts a lot of work into his lectures and isnt just reading from a PowerPoint. Hes passionate about what he teaches. Amazing man.
Loved this class! This was my humanities credit and loved taking this class with Bro. Mccormick. As long as you show up to classes you will pass just fine and make sure to use your cheat sheet as well!
I have taken a couple courses from Brother Cornick and he is awesome. he is super knowledgeable and passionate about art and it runs off. As long as you do the work and study (duh) its easy to get good grades. He is easily my favorite professor at BYUI.
This is the second class I've taken from Brother Cornick and I have no regrets! You can tell that he loves what he teaches and that he puts a lot of effort into his lectures and PowerPoints. Just do the reading and show up to class. I would take any class taught by Brother Cornick, even if it has nothing to do with my major because he's that good.
Bro. Cornick genuinely cares about his students and wants them to succeed. I learned a lot from this course. I would highly suggest it if you have any interest in photography.
Super great teacher but the course is challenging. You have to do a lot of textbook reading and the exams are memorization heavy. You have to go to the lectures or you will miss a lot of information (He doesn't post the slides or record class). One Group presentation. Be prepared to memorize a lot of stuff. If you like photography you'll be fine.
Brother Cornick genuinely loves what he teaches, understands how to help his students learn, and and inspires his students on a personal level. His classroom is a rich experience of enlightenment and discovering truth. If you take the needed time for this class, you will be a different person by the end of the semester.
Truly an amazing instructor who really cares about his students and tries to connect with them. This is a more difficult course, so you're going to have to put in a lot of work especially when memorizing for tests, but really worth it! Lots of fun, and you learn a lot! Would take again!
Brother Cornick is a great professor. He really knows what he's talking about and the lectures are very engaging and interesting.
Brother Cornick engaged the class and individual class members often. He was a real great instructor! I appreciate the effort and time he put into preparation for this class. It was apparent. Thank you. :)
Professor Cornick is an amazing teacher. It is obvious he has a passion for the history of photography. I am a science major and even I enjoyed listening to his lectures. He does not assign much homework but expects you to be studying the study guide instead. The exams take a lot of studying but if you do so then you will be okay.
Brother Cornick was an amazing professor to learn the History of Photography from. The class has a few tests, but they are worth a lot of points. Study hard and you'll do well. He showed many beautiful images and seemed passionate about the topics. He's a great, understanding guy.
He is an amazing professor! You can tell he knows his stuff and is very passionate about it. His lecture style makes hard concepts easier to understand and sticks in the mind better.
The class and semester were tough, and required a lot of effort, but I was also taught well. He even gives us an entire two sided paper for notes, which makes up for the difficulty. Overall, the class was fair and balanced, and interesting as well!
The test can be tricky if you don’t study, but he allowed a two side page notes during the test. I would say as long as you do the reading, come to class always, and study for the test, you will be fine. Brother Cornick also gives extra credit opportunity, so take advantage of that!
He clearly enjoys what he's teaching that spills over into the material. I liked his bearing, it drew me into what he was teaching and explaining. He does have a hard time with pronunciation of names in other languages, but can't fault him for that. He's great. Would take him again if I could. :)
Brother Cornick did an extremely good job making this class fun & interesting to learn about. There are opportunities for up to 400 points worth of extra credit, the information is easy to understand/retain & he helps you be well prepared for the exams. As long as you pay attention, attend the classes, take notes & do the readings you'll do fine!
Brother Cornick is by far one the best professors I have taken a class from! He's a great teacher and his lectures are very informative I always walk out of class learning something new. His class requires a lot of reading but is not hard! Brother Cornick always has extra credit opportunities and he always gives great study guides to follow. 10/10
Brother Cornick was an amazing teacher! I had his late class, 5-6:30 pm and he was able to keep a lot of the students awake and engaged. He is pretty strict with rules like no eating in the classroom and no electronics, but you come to appreciate it throughout the semester, fewer distractions. He remembered everyone's names by the 2nd week!
Brother Cornick is a good professor, he lets you take a page front and back of notes into the test.
Brother Cornick is a very good teacher! He is very passionate about teaching art history and makes the information applicable to all students, no matter their background. His Art History class was inspiring and informative, and I really enjoyed learning from him. The course was fun, and as long as you do all the work required, it is also easy!
Brother Cornick is an awesome teacher! He's super nice and is very helpful when students have question or difficulty understanding the content being learned. He answers questions in class and gives great opportunities for extra credit.
Great teacher, nice guy, knows his stuff, great lectures! Fair grader, overall just awesome!
Brother Cornick will make you love the humanities. He is extremely passionate about what he teaches. One thing is, this humanities class is harder than the others, but it is worth it to have a good teacher.
Brother Cornick overall was great. He's passionate about what he teaches and explains the information super well. My only complaint was all the busy work that was hard to stay on top of, especially as the semester went on. His exams can be tricky as well because he puts a big focus on being able to identify art pieces and music.
Good prof
Brother Cornick is amazing! You will love this class and learn so much about the history of photography.
Brother Cornick is such a good teacher! You can tell he loves what he teaches, and he teaches everything thoroughly. He cares about his students and helps them be more willing to try new things. I loved how he invites the spirit into every class and his assignments were easy and fun. Humanities was so great with him as a teacher!
Brother Cornick is sooooo passionate about this subject and helped me become invested as well. He gives you a study guide for every test and the hardest part is memorizing important photos for each unit.
Brother Cornick is a great teacher that does his best to help you understand his class. If you like art and learning more about it you will most likely love this class. This class is heavy memorization, so if you struggle with that you will have a harder time getting a good grade.
Brother Cornick is very willing to work with you and loves to have discussions about the work with students. An amazing class but very homework heavy and challenging, be prepared to work if you want an A
I love Brother Cornick! He is an amazing professor who cares about his students and the humanities. His lectures about the humanities are very interesting, engaging, and detailed. The workload is not bad. Definitely study for the exams in advance. His lectures are clear, and there are TA sessions that you can go to to prepare for the exams.
Brother Cornick is one of the best professors I have ever had at BYU-I. He is an amazing teacher and grades fairly. Work is required, but it is worth it for what we learn in class and how Brother Cornick makes it applicable to our lives. I highly recommend taking any course from him!
Professor Cornick is amazing! He is very caring, and I have always been able to reach him if I have questions, comments, or concerns regarding an assignment. His lectures are always full of important information, and you will always walk out of his class feeling prepared, and spiritually fed. Just remember to always take notes, and ask questions.
If you want to see life differently and appreciate your surroundings through Humanities then Professor Michael Cornick is the man. his way of teaching changed my life for the better and l am grateful
Incredible Professor! In Art 201, Brother Cornick taught amazing classes! His material comes from the book which makes it easy to follow along if you do your homework. He brings art in history to life in personal ways! His class is quite simple and easy to catch on. I will definitely be taking another class from him if the opportunity comes.
Brother Cornick's focus is on how Art History can help us today, and he tied in a lot of really cool thoughts and insights. He encourages learning outside of class, there's lots of extra credit, documentaries, and events to attend to help you learn. Exams are every other week, so show up, work hard, and you'll do great.
Really nice guy, but this is not a class you can slack off in. I recommend finding a study buddy and reviewing material at least once before the test you go over a lot of it.
Bro. Cornick is an absolutely FANTASTIC professor. Kind, sharp, and always prepared. He was my academic advisor before I took this class from him, and he was very gentle and helpful then, too. He has a gentle yet commanding presence. He always speaks clearly and gives excellent lectures. He is very patient and answers all my questions. Love him!!
Brother Cornick is a very passionate professor and it's not hard to do well in his class. There is an assignment due before every class and a quiz almost every week, the assignments are not hard as long as you take the time to do them and the quizzes are open notes, so make sure you take good notes and attend class. I really enjoyed this class!
He is the best! I could not survive BYUI without him. He gives the best relationship advice, even if it hurts you to the core. He is also a great professor. He loves what he teaches, and you can tell.
Brother Cornick is an amazing teacher! His canvas is easy to follow and you always know what is expected of you. He is a great lecturer and is excellent at answering questions. If he doesn't know the answer, he will find out and answer it in the next class.
He's an interesting dude. He's clearly very passionate about what he teaches, and he has amazing lectures, but damn the tests are hard. If you have some kind of humanities major, this guy is probably perfect for you. But as a general? I would choose a professor that is less intense. I think the class average for the unit test was a 70.
Stay on top of it! This instructor wants you to learn from this class what you need to learn by taking this class. Stay on top of it, and you will do great!
Loved his class! If you are into any sort of history, then this class is perfect! I would absolutely take it again because of all the awesome stuff I learned!
if you put in bare minimum work and effort into his class you will love it!! i took this class because i needed to for generals and i totally loved it! If you listen to the lecture in class and take notes you will get an excellent grade in the class. participation is encouraged but never forced. and brother Cornick is so talented
Brother Cornick is a very good professor! I enjoyed his lectures. The quizzes are open notes, but the exams are proctored, and can be very challenging if you don't study effectively. Class is mandatory, don't come late, and don't use electronics during class.
Good professor overall. I thought that his class was very insightful, and I really did learn a lot during the course of it. He changed my perspective on the arts. I will say that it's not an easy class, and the unit exams are very tricky. If you're thinking about taking this class, just take into account a little more time than usual for studying.
I really enjoyed History of Photography with Brother Cornick. He is extremely knowledgeable on the subject and has a deep passion for the information. You do need to be in class and take notes or you won't do well, but if you pay attention and really study the images on the study guide you'll do great. I learned so much in his class!
Very passionate about what he teaches, which makes lectures more fun! He's quite strict, if you miss an assignment there is no turning it in late. If you aren't able to stay off technology for and hour and a half and take paper notes, find another professor who will let you. I would suggest sitting in the front and getting to know him, he is great!
I took Brother Cornick's History of Photography class and I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. He made every class interesting and he always made sure to answer all of his student's questions. He has clear expectations and is always willing and ready to help. He was seriously my favorite professor. You won't regret taking his class!
Brother Cornick has an engaging style of teaching. His lectures are interesting and insightful. I learned a lot and feel like his class helps me see the world in a new and better way. I appreciate his passion for the subject and his dedication to students.
Brother Cornick lectures with passion, knowledge, and confidence. I learned significantly more than other Art History courses. He has clear expectations and gives a study guide for every exam so doing well in the course is entirely in your control. Don't be scared off by his technology ban or strict honor code compliance, his courses are worth it.
I was really impressed by Brother Cornick's lecture style. He has such a vast knowledge of the Humanities disciplines. He is straight forward, personable, and engaging.
Cornick's teaching style involves entertaining and well written lectures. He obviously cares about what he is teaching about and that helps students engage with the material. This class has a ton of reading but it helps contextualize the lectures and prepare for tests. He's strict but nothing that isn't stated in the course agreement or syllabus.
Knowledgable master of all he teaches. He is clear in expectations and very supportive. Allows an ENTIRE page (front and back!) of notes for tests (easy A if you're prepared!) He is fair, precise, and gives TONS of extra credit. You have to try to fail. Noble and kind, he is so brilliant. I enjoyed Art History more than I thought possible. Take it!
Just a wonderful professor! Very kind as a person and very open to discussion and questions throughout the lecture to make sure you are understanding what is being taught.
Brother Cornick is the perfect example of a good teacher, clearly sets expectations and then follows them up with high amounts of encouragement and care. I took this class during one of the most hectic times of my life and often didn't have a chance to study for exams but the way Brother Cornick teaches, I always felt prepared and passed easily.
Brother Cornick is just a great professor. He's strict but not for the sake of being strict. It's clear through his passion that he cares deeply about what he's teaching on a personal level, and wants that for his students. His expectations are clear, and if you put in the work, the challenge of his classes is worth it and you'll learn a lot.
After taking his class, it is clear the Brother Cornick not only is very knowledgeable in art history but cares so much about it. He also cares about his students and is always looking out for their growth both in school and life. He is understanding and is great at inspiring growth in his students. 10/10 would take again!
He is very focused on learning the material. He reviews the material a lot and always tries to help students understand it. He does expect a lot from students but in a good way. He cares about his students and always invites the spirit into the classroom. Great lectures. He does offer many extra credit options.
Truly the most admirable teacher I've had throughout my entire academic career. Brother Cornick's class is the only one I would take again from college if given the chance. Plenty of extra credit. If you read the text and make good study guides there's literally nothing to worry about. A very special place in my heart for this course and professor.
Amazing class. One project, one presentation, three tests, open book quizzes, and readings. His lectures are fascinating and the images for the slides are incredible.
He is an amazing a teacher he is super fun and he brings very great motivated inspiration in all of his teachings. If I had a chance to take a class with Professor Cornick again I will do it with no hesitations, please take his class!!!!
Professor Cornick was great! If you love music, you'll love his class
I loved taking Brother Cornick's class! He is very passionate about what he teaches and it's never boring in his class. He is an inspiration to me and I always felt good coming out of his classes. I took his Arts & Humanities class and loved it!
Brother Cornick goes pretty heavy in class, but teaches how it's worth it. He was an incredible teacher that I would be honored to have him as a teacher again.
Brother Cornick.. He is the best teacher he would clarify every question that I had and I remember one day I went to his office without an appointment with my friend to try to register for his class and he stopped everything he was doing just for us..he cares for his students and his passion for art will make you fall inlove with the course
Are you interested in gaining a greater appreciation of the fine arts? Do you want to take a class that will change you for the better? Then Cornick is the professor for you! He was one of my top 2 favorite professors during my time at BYUI. Want a class that is easy and requires no effort or attendance? Then he is NOT the professor for you.
Bro. Cornick is one of my favorites! I've had him for Art History I & recently History of Photography. His knowledge is vast & he utilizes creative teaching methods that make class a joy to attend. Exams can be rough, but I truly appreciated all the great extra credit options to make up for what I lacked. You won't regret taking a class from him!
Very organized. A trait very helpful to students. Lecture heavy, you need to go to class every time and study for tests to succeed. Like all classes if you just put in the work you will be fine. Fascinating stuff. Overall great class.
Brother Cornick REALLY knows his stuff and it's very inspirational. He does have big tests but if you study you are fine and even then, you will probably still pass the class if you bomb them because he offers SO MUCH extra credit! Fabulous class, there is so much good, rich history that is exciting to learn about. I would absolutely recommend.
Great class. Would take again.
Brother Cornick is the best professor I have had. He is organized, uses his time well, and instructions for assignments and exams are clear. Best of all, he made art history come alive. I really enjoyed his lectures.
Brother Cornick was AWESOME! His passion for the materials he was teaching was so infectious.
He was awful. The passion he had was great and the subject was super interesting, but he was condescending and full of that high-brow academic pride. He also didn't respect the students and was consistently interrupting them. If you have to take Art History from him, be prepared to work your butt off, more on memorization than genuine learning.
This class is fantastic. Brother Cornick is kind and approachable. He encourages students to share their thoughts and wants them to share their insights. The class was pretty easy. It doesn't take a lot of effort. No memorization is required. You get to take a full sheet of notes into the exam. If you prepare well the exams aren't difficult.
I loved this class and Brother Cornick is such a great teacher. It is obvious that he really knows and is passionate about the subjects that he teaches. It was also clear that he cared about each of us in the class and wanted to see us succeed. I highly recommend this professor!!!
The professor is excellent and has a passion for both the subject matter and teaching. However, the class requires hard work and dedication to truly understand the material. Just because it's a 100-level course, you cannot expect to pass with minimal effort.
Brother Cornick has an amazing teaching style. He is very devoted to what he teaches, and that becomes clear when he teaches. You can tell that he really understands what he is teaching. Because of this, he is really good at making Humanities enjoyable and applicable to my life.
This class is so interesting. I Iove all the side history we cover. We watch documentaries about some of the famous works of architecture. There are lots of opportunity for extra credit and you get to use one page of notes for the exam so it makes it much easier. Lots of great art work covered. Brother Cornick is passionate about the material.
Brother Cornick is one of the most stubborn and straight-forward people I have ever met. Yet, I have found that he is one of the most caring and passionate teachers I have ever had at BYU-Idaho. He may not be the best at showing it, but he does truly care about his students and is incredibly passionate about what he does.
He is very passionate and excellent teacher. Easy Homework. Quizzes are open note, tests are not. The tests are quite extensive so study early. Take really good notes. No devices in class. His class may be difficult, but he's still a great professor. Easy if you come to class and study. The film section was my favorite. Shaped my taste in film.
He knows what he is teaching. Make sure you attend class as missing a lecture means missing important information. He offers many opportunities for extra credit and I would suggest taking them.
Super great professor! He really knows the topics and is passionate about them. Attendance is mandatory, but there is leeway and plenty of extra credit to make up attendance or points. He is super caring and gives countless opportunities in the class!
Brother Cornick is an amazing professor. He's very engaging and knowledgable in his criteria. He makes the curriculum easy and fun to understand. He also provides multiple opportunities for extra credit. He's approachable and ties together the curriculum with spiritual thoughts, which I always appreciate. 10/10 would recommend!
The course material is conveyed very clearly. There are multiple required ways to learn the subject matter, mainly lectures/class attendance, textbook reading, and a few projects/assignments here and there. The homework load isn't heavy at all. Most of the outside work for this class is reading the textbook. I loved this class and learned a lot!
Professor Cornick is a knowledgeable and passionate instructor. His class is engaging, with ample opportunities for extra credit. The material can be challenging, but using resources like unstuckstudy ai alongside the textbook helps make studying more manageable. Overall, a rewarding course that's worth taking.
Brother Cornick was an excellent professor. I have never seen such passion or emotion towards a subject than him. His ability to show you the meaning of what the humanities truly are is a changing experience. I now have a passion for the humanities that I never thought was possible. He truly was amazing and teaches a class extremely well.
Complete your assignments on time and come to class. It's that easy! Brother Cornick brings his passion for the arts and humanities. There is a lot of material to cover, but he gives you ample time to learn it. He really cares about his students.
I enjoyed taking this class from Brother Cornick and thought that he was really passionate about the subject and the students that are in the class. The majority of the classes are lectures but he try's his best to help you understand the material and will try and help you succeed. Lots of note taking but its so you can learn and pass the exams.
The previous comments say it all. Come to class and do the assignments, and the class will be easy. He is very passionate about the humanities. He is lecture-heavy but the best lecturer I've ever had.
Brother Cornick is a great teacher! He has awesome insights on art history and culture, as well as scripture history. I highly recommend this class, such an interesting and engaging one!
Awesome teacher, passionate and knowledgeable about the subject. Classes are pretty lecture-y so get ready to just listen and take notes.
I loved this class and Brother Cornick. He was so obviously passionate about his subject that I ended up loving it too which surprised me as I never thought art history (specifically pre-Renaissance art history) was going to be my thing. He was so caring and attentive and offered SO much extra credit that there's no reason not to get an A.
Brother Cornick is very passionate about what he teaches and it makes the class enjoyable. He makes an effort to know his students and wants to help. There is a lot of extra credit opportunities and you're allowed help sheets on every test.
This class is challenging but it is very interesting and worth it. If you just make sure you review the photos and information it will be okay. Brother Cornick is very caring and loves teaching. The passion that he has for photography is contagious. He is easy to reach outside of class and is willing to help.
AMAZING teacher. Had him for Art History, wish he taught AH2. Genuinely my favorite class. He's engaging and loves what he teaches. As someone who despises busy work, we pretty much had none. A documentary every other week, an easy test every other week, a timeline, two art exhibits. I was sick during the final (got like a 76) and passed with a 97.
I loved this class. Brother Cornick is super kind and caring, and I was always looking forward to his lectures.
Brother Cornick is great at what he does! He has clear expectations from the get-go and his classes are lecture-based. He has lots of tests, but it's to help the students so we don't have to be tested on tons of material at once. There are SO MANY fun extra credit opportunities that you can't complain if you choose not to take advantage of them.
Brother Cornick is an amazing professor who's super passionate and easy to talk to! The class is heavy on tests and memorizing facts about cameras and photographers in history.
His teaching style is very unique and effective! He makes sure every single class we learn a lot of material and leave feeling a sense of knowledge that we just soaked up in the class. My least favorite part of a classroom setting is when you finish class and feel like you didn't learn anything. Brother Cornick is great at making me learn a lot.
Brother Cornick is an amazing professor, and the film class I took from him was a ton of fun. The tests are tough because they are mostly memorization, but there are only two. The final is comprehensive, so it takes some effort to study. The labs and the lectures were amazing. Brother Cornick also cares for his students and wants us to learn.
How fun and educational it is and you learn so many insight about life that you won't consider looking at in your day to day lifestyle
The work can be tough if you don't put the work in, but it is all worth it if you do. Brother Cornick is down-to-earth and insightful who cares about the success of his students! What a gentleman
Brother Cornick is one of my absolute favorite teachers. His class lectures are excellent and engaging. He takes this class as seriously as his other classes, so be prepared to go to the testing center and memorize names of the production crew/ film scores. Definitely take this class if you want to learn how to appreciate and analyze film.Loved it.
This class is lecture heavy and you will need to prepare before class in order to be successful. I would recommend taking it in person. My buddy said the online version was rough. He is an intelligent teacher who knows his material and prepared the class well for tests.
Very good class and teacher! Had a fun time and enjoyed the class a lot.
I hope I selected the right course code. I took Art History I, and Bro. Cornick is a FANTASTIC teacher in my opinion, very passionate about what he's teaching and also very funny and engaging. Keep up on the reading, make good study guides, and DO THE EXTRA CREDIT. It's so helpful and he makes the extra credit stuff really fun. I loved his class.
In the past, I tried taking Art201 online, but trying to listen to hours of lectures and actually learn something from it was a pain, and needless to say I had to retake it. Taking it in person with Brother Cornick was a lifesaver, and I loved his class! He is super knowledgeable and passionate about the course, which really helped learn each day!
Bro. Cornick's class was excellent, offering a great perspective on the arts. Homework was minimal, requiring only a quick review of the readings. However, the exams were difficult and demanded several hours of memorization (paintings, music, architecture, and dance), and if you did less than optimal, many chances for extra credit were awarded.
I found the exams to be difficult. And there are quite a few things. You have to go to outside of class. However, you can tell Brother Cornick is very passionate about the arts, making the class more engaging and easier.
Super good person, very passionate about what he teaches and brings the spirit into his lessons which is awesome. He puts a lot of effort into his lessons and in return expects you to put effort back (obviously). Be ready for difficult tests with a lot of memorization, but you do get extra credit if you remember things from previous exams.
Not going to lie, as an intro class, it is a little tough, but I will have you know that it is worth it. You will never meet a professor who is so passionate about his work. You will also never meet a professor who cares so deeply about influencing the lives of others for good, through film, just as Brother Cornick does.
Brother Cornick is a very passionate teacher. He cares about each of his students and their learning a lot. He is helpful and very knowledgeable. You can tell he has studied hard and understands and loves his subjects well. I have never left his class without feeling spiritually uplifted.
Brother Cornick is one of the best professors to take this class from. His lectures are the awesome and he is not only very knowledgeable in this area, but he is also passionate about it. There is quite a bit of memorization and attendance is required, but the movies we watched were relevant and well chosen. Would highly recommend!
One of the warmest teachers that you will ever meet that holds you to high expectations of yourself because you can tell that he know what you are worth and can achieve. A unique combination of high love and high expectations. I would not trade him for any other.
I love Brother Cornick! He is one of my favorite professors I've had. He's engaging and inspiring in class. He is passionate about the history of photography. Something about his way of teaching invites the Spirit. His tests are in the Testing Center, but that actually motivated me to do my best and gave me an excuse to be honest! He is so great.
Follow the guidelines, and listen well. There is much to be learned.
I love Cornick. Favorite teacher. His class is easy, I never read the textbook but as long as you memorize the photos, tests are easy. Very little busywork, easy tests, I only ever needed a day to study for them, and you can get extra credit on them too. If you don't succeed in this class, you didn't try.
