Professor Crosswhite is a great teacher. The class material was hard but he always went out of his way to help me. Online homework and quizzes. The final exam was reall hard.

Loved taking Professor Crosswhite's class! I definitely was able to see math in a different light. He clarified concepts that used to confuse me in high school. Class isn't easy, but it is fun. He tries his best to get to know all of his students personally. However, if he sees you're not putting in the work, he will call you out on it.

He made it easy for me to grasp the material. He's the most straightforward professor I've had. He doesn't take roll, doesn't offer extra credit, asks for students to bring ID to exam days (3 exams) and a final. You can tell when he talks that he's chill, kinda funny, and teaches using a powerpoint. He makes you feel that you have a chance to pass.

This was a hard class for me but I spent a lot of time in his office getting help. He was always very helpful. Didn't use the textbook and doesn't take attendance. 3 exams and a final. Homework but no quizzes. I would take another class with him.

He is by far the best professor I have had at CSUN. He is extremely clear, class goes by really fast, and he makes the subject manageable. Even if you're bad at math, if you attend class and take the lab, you can get an A. Almost everyone I spoke to in the class were getting 95s and higher on the exams. He's amazing.

This class wasn't that hard. If you do the homework and study, you will pass. Serioulsy, this is high school level math.

I failed 140 the first time I took it on campus but this class was easier because you could use your book, notes and internet on the tests. There were 3 tests and a final. Homework was only worth 10% of the grade. There is no tutoring in the summer but he was very helpful in answering my questions.

I took the online 140 this summer. It was hard because it was basicaly self taught but there were lecture videos and other stuff that help alot. I had to put in alot more time than I thought I would need to to pass but I did it.

When I was taking this class I didn't really see the reason for it. Almost the whole class was in the computer lab using SPSS. We actually analyzed data sets and did real statistics. I'm doing a Senior thesis now and the class has turned out to be very useful like Prof. Crosswhite said it would be. He was a great prof and I highly recommend him.

I've never liked math and I was scared to take this class prof crosswhite has been very helpful and encouraging the whole semester. He has high expectation and can be blunt at times but he has helped me become good at stats. I feel like I've actually learned something in his class.

Lectures are kind-of boring but it's statistics. He's helpful if you really want to understand the information and go the extra mile. Otherwise sometimes he's not clear in the lectures. This class was not to hard as long as you came to class, did the homework, and studied. He does like to ask questions on the exams that can be tricky and make you think. There are alot of dumb people in the class so be prepared to listen to some dumb questions. I recommend him and I'd take another class with him.

One of the most challenging classes I have taken at CSUN. With that said, unlike most professors at CSUN, he actually teaches at a university level. You must pay attention in class and, *gasp* study and read the book.

Not an easy class as he has very high expectations. His class is not a joke like a Chicano Studies class. You're going to have to work for your grade. Going to class is must in order to understand the material. Stats was not an easy subject but he helped me a lot when I went to his office hours.

This is the best statistics professor! You should take this course. He will answer all your questions. He teaches it in the easiest way possible. There are 3 exam and 1 final. Doesn't take attendance but uses clicker quizzes. He is a great professor.

I'm a junior and this was one of the hardest classes I've taken at CSUN, much harder than any other 100 level class. He has high expectations and tells you so. Best math professor I've had at CSUN, really knows his stuff and makes it easy to understand. His tests are hard and requires you to not only know how to do the problems but understand the concepts behind them. High expectations but an excellent teacher.

If you've breezed through another math class without much studying, that will stop here. He will prepare you well for upper division coursework. He's tough and teaches the class at a college level. He always takes time to answer questions in class.

At first, he seemed very strict on his heading scale, but as time passed, it wasn't. His lectures were very clear on understanding on integrals and partial derivatives. Does not require you to memorize formulas for the test as he gives them to you. Just study hard and do the assignments given and you'll pass the class. Great guy!

He doesn't usually teach Calc 3, so sometimes his explanations aren't super clear but good enough. If there's a question he can't answer on the spot, he'll find out for next class. No hw, but some quizzes or in-class work for him to take attendance. Show up to class! Tests weren't too difficult. If you were good at Calc 1 & 2, you'll be fine!

He's a tough, but fair. Most of the time his lectures are clear and intuitive. Exams can be tough and he doesn't give study guides. Kinda of scary in the beginning buts hes actually really nice. Gives clicker quizzes almost every day. I would take hime for another class.

I'm not a fan of math and this class was doable for me. Ended up with a low B. Usually 1-2 hw assignments a week but they're short, 10 questions max so it takes no more than 30 min, 9% of grade, 4 quizzes lowest dropped 24% of grade, 2 exams 32% of grade, final 35% of grade. Lectures really help you understand the material. He's pretty funny too

Well, it's CSUN, so you're lucky if half of your classmates can spell their name. Seriously, he has high expectations and expects you to know the material. Math 103 is easy class and he is a great professor. Doesn't give study guides but reviews for exams in class.

Professor Crosswhite is EASILY the best Math 103 teacher at CSUN. His lectures are so easy to understand because he doesn't try to complicate things. 3 tests. Homework due every Sunday, and the final was CAKE. Strongly recommend this professor. You won't regret it.

The exams and quizzes were straight forward although the third exam was really hard. Common final exam was easy. He really funny and makes class fun even though stats is boring. I recommend him.

Crosswhite is an amazing teacher, very organized, and knowledgeable. As long as you come to the lecture and do the homework, you'll understand the content. He is very understanding and willing to help if you need it. Just do what is asked/the assignments and you'll pass. You must buy the book, I recommend taking a lab too, definitely helps. :)

I loved his class and he makes math soooo easy (and I hate math). Expect: 2-3 exams, up to 6 hw assignments, and 1 project. He won't let you use a laptop or tablet in person. He is very patient and great at explaining anything you need help on. Remember the definitions and how to solve problems.

Stats be a tough subject. He doesnt require hand calculations and formulas but makes you use software instead. He was patient and gave goos lectures but he has high expectations and made you work for your grade. I recomend him. There are some really dumb people in the class though.

Doesn't collect homework but goes over it if you ask. gives dailt clicker quizzes and some free points with them so you have to come to class. the exams are basically the same as the homework so it easy to pass if you study. good lectures and will meet with you outside of pffice hours if you ask.

I have a lot of trouble with math & when I found Professor Crosswhite I was amazed of how patient and awesome professor he is. Hes really relaxed and a fair teacher which is why I wanted to write him his rating because other students show know too. If I could take all my math classes with him, I would.

10/10 Take this professor. Do it! This was the best math teacher I have ever had. He's hip so he doesn't make you do unneccesary things many other teachers do if it can be done on a calc instead. He will answer your questions every time and help you understand if its not quite sticking. The homework load was not bad and the lectures were enjoyable!

Chill. Very casual and willing to discuss content in depth as needed. In-class clicker questions and 4 exams plus a short lesson plan paper. Do the homework, take notes, study sample problems and you're golden to pass. Honestly felt he could have taught the course more rigorously, but I definitely appreciated the mental break during COVID.

20% Hw, 20% daily questions, 15% x 3 tests and one 15% final lesson plan. Take good notes and pay attention/ask questions. Ask him to explain the hw problems from the notes to better prepare for the tests. Its a mix of multiple and written. If you study, ask questions, do well with the hw you should pass and a D in the class is technically PASSING

I recommend takuing him for this class. A couple of exams and a short final project. occasional homework and almost daily but easu clicker quizzes. No book and provides lecture notes. Manageable workload and no hand calculations - all software and he knows his stuff.

I was worried stats was going to be overwhelming but it was honestly the best class I had this semester. I feel like I actually learned something in his class. it wasn't like the intro stats class but he focused on real uses of stats and not formulas and calculations. Super easy class. No book to read and premade lecture notes. Homework over every chapter but the test questions are exactly the same as the homework questions just different numbers. He explains the problems well, is super patient, and answers questions as needed.

I'm not an expert. But after taking the class from beginning to end, I cannot say anything. Because as I said in the beginning, I'm not an expert.

Chillest Professor. 1 or 2 hw assignments a week at most. Lectures fly by feels like a 30 minute class. He really cares about your success. Just take notes and study them for the tests.

This class is basically high school math. Super easy if you put in effort. He's chill and funny and really helps you understand the material. 3 quizzes, homework and comprehensive final exam.

He's the best math teacher I have had at CSUN. He is really funny and really cares if you pass the class. He emphasizes taking responsibility for your own grade and creating good study habits. As long as you do the homework you should have no problem on the tests.

He cares about his students. Caring. Explains with patience. He is an amazing professor.

Make sure to attend class because thats how youll learn. Also ask him for help whenever you need it, gives a few homework assignments (gives you step by step instructions, very easy)! But he does go very fast through his lecture slides so good luck. Btw he does not offer extra credit & make sure you do the final project.

Taking this class online right now. He's actually really good. Helpful lectures and will explain something until you get it. Does give clicker questions each class so you have to attend. Stats is way harder than other CJS classes so you have expect to put in the work.

He was great. The last three classes we were able to sit and do our finals and he would answer our questions. I would have got an A but I messed up on one of the in class assignments, and he does not round, but other than that he explains and is very helpful in class. I recommend.

I personally hate stats, but after taking it with crosswhite my whole view on stats changed. I loved it thanks to him. There was HW and the tests were hard but if you show up, take notes, study, and take advantage of his office hours you'll get a good grade. He gives you time to work on homework in class and get help.

He actually made stats really easy. 3 exams all spread out throughout the semester and only 6 homework assignments (lets you complete them in class and typically similar to in class work). Make sure you take notes because he does move through slide fast but overall super easy class.

Hands down this professor is the most structured, no-nonsense, straight forward professor I have had at CSUN. No busy work, no excessive amounts of work, no fluff. Love this professor. His class is very easy and you never have homework but he still does an amazing job teaching you the content. You have a test on every chapter but he spends lots of time reviewing. The final project is a lesson plan which is easy. No textbook required- he posts packets on canvas that you print out and fill in while he teaches.

Crosswhite is great. You will have to do a lot of work on your own though, because most of the problems take practice and repetition to understand. Moved pretty fast so you can't be on your phone or missing class too much. Overall good teacher and I learned a lot. One of the best professors! Go to class and take good notes and study for exams and you'll pass. He cares about students and if you don't understand something, he will go over it until you do. Homework is online and clicker quizzes almost every class. Good at relating stats to the real world.

He is by far the best Stats professor. He really cares about his students and he knows that they are things that are pointless to teach so he doesn't focus on them. Does a great job relating the material to real world use. The useless math department makes you buy the book but you don't have to read it. Online homework. Take his class.

Stats isn't easy but he made it easy. Gives detailed lectures and assignments and explains exactly how to do the problems. You do have to work hard and come to class, but if you do, you will pass with no problem. I would take a class with him again.

Took math 141 with him. He's funny and give good lectures. Always willing to help if you ask. We had a bunch of exams and a final exam. No book. I would recommned.

Great Professor. Easy to follow, shows examples well, skips the parts that won't be on the test. Only issue I had was that he doesn't curve, no matter what. I was off by .01 for an A and he wouldn't give me the A, which was unfortunate. Overall, the content was not hard to learn.

This class will be easy if you study. I recommend just practicing the homework problems since the quizzes and exams are really similar to those problems. We had 6 quizzes which consisted of 2-3 problems. There's also 3 tests and a final. Make sure to not fall behind and you should do good. Going to lab was helpful for extra review.

Good professor. attendance is not mandatory but I recommend going as he explains the material and what you need to know for quizzes and exams. 7 quizzes, no midterm, 1 final exam. Homework I found easy which he gives it on pearson. I recommend studying the material in the book a lot and going to tutoring. He also provides office hours.

For an online class with lectures, he is really a gem at CSUN. Unlike other stats prof at CSUN, he basically follows what is covered in the powerpints and sometimes skips some topics too. He says you have to be able to carry yourself with the SPSS, but there were some students who had trouble remembering what to do and he never got mad at them.

In all my other CJS classes we are given extra credit at the end so we can pass the class. He refused! Its not fair and im going to complain to the chair and dean!!!!! I would take a class from again though cause he smooth.

Easy online class. Pay attention during his lectures. He shows you exactly how to use the stats software to do the homework assignments. A couple of easy exams that were doing the exact same things as the homework. No final exam or project.

Class uses notes from the department that you have to buy. His exams are problems straight from the online homework but just changes the numbers. He preps you for the common final exam very well. pointless class but you have to take it and he's great at lecturing and answering questions. Recommend.

hes chill. i took his class during spring 2025 and for 3 weeks he didnt even come to class but in the end he managed to do everything. class has one final exam and its about the whole semester. highk chill. bunch of quizzes but they are fine. i like him

He understands you probably don't care about math and are just here because you have to be. Very thorough and clear with his teaching and preps you really well for the exams. Just don't have your phone out, he will absolutely grill you for it. Or cheat. He will see you.

Easy class if you just pay attention to his examples and put in an hour or two a week. Gives in-class/homework assignments which are just like examples in lecture. Two exams that are 95% identical to homework problems. Not as easy as other CJS classes but all the others I've taken have been a complete joke.
