he makes his tests so confusing that a professional sociologist could not pass them. He thinks he's tiger woods but hes not. And i heard hes a terrible landlord.
Exams are way over the top. Does not spend a lot of time on the most difficult concepts. Hard to reach, even during office hrs, he spends way too much time on the fairway instead of the classroom.

Real full of himself, thinks himself to be the Golf Master. Doesn't explain concepts well. Makes personal attacks on students if you don't directly agree with any of his viewpoints. There needs to be a way to remove this Tenured Professor.
his class is just like any other class, sometimes more interesting. he explains his points pretty good, so you feel ready for the test...right?? wrong!!! his tests are so hard no matter how hard you study for them, he expects you to make connections about things that werent talked about in class
he knows his stuff butt he's kind of a jerk. he is full of himself and believes he could never be wrong about anything.i dont recommend him. and just kidding he isnt hot at all. :)
He is very straight forward. He lets you know what will be on the tests and papers. He expects you to study, that is what college students do. His tests are hard, but you will not learn more from anyone else. He tells you some good stuff about soc. and about life. Hard but I would recommend him.
Thinks he is god's gift to teaching. i think he just likes to listen to himself talk. Knows his stuff but cant teach. Doesnt tell you what is on the test, only tells you to read the chapters (who does?) and he's not very helpful any other times. I would stay far away from him.

Very hard class for intro to soc. If you want to take a sociology class with him you better come prepared and ready to study a lot because if you want a good grade youll have to work for it. I don't recommend taking this class with him if you want a good GPA.
an terrible teacher. thinks he knows everything and likes to make sure you think he knows everything. dont sit in the front unless you want to be humiliated. class is boring and tests are a lot harder than they should be.

I learned absolutely nothing in this class except that he makes his own golf clubs and that his back always hurts. CRY ME A RIVER!!!

This prof will respect you if you try to learn. He isn't easy, and he isn't always polite, but he is fair. I'd recommend him to any serious student who cares more about their education than their social life. Not alot of homework; as long as you read the material, you're golden. And yes, he's a pompous ass,.. but worth taking.
High expectations in his intro class, but once you get into upper level courses, he's much more approachable and helpful. I think he's tough early on because most people just take the intro course for the gen ed. His exams for this class were easy considering he gives you the questions before hand.

Very, very interesting lecturer and I enjoyed the class, but I do not enjoy getting a C in a stupid ass class where I can explain the concepts covered in great detail. He is arrogant and disrespectful. Answers questions as though that person is too dumb to understand. Feels his class are the most important thing in our lives.
He expects you to learn, give respect get respect. If you are willing to put in the effort you will learn alot, he is strong in all his views and very smart. He mixes enough personal, fun, edu, and etc to keep the class interesting; plus he gives you life long tips. Take him if you will work at it and like to learn.

great professor! kind of arrogant but he knows what hes teaching and he tells you what he expects in the class, very straight forward. go to class and take notes and youll be fine. first test threw me for a loop but after i got used to them, it wasnt so bad. easiest final i ever took, i was done in 20 min!

I didnt put in the effort, and I regret it. Im totally takinghim again though to increase my grade. I cant see taking anyone else. He teaches you sociology and dynamics rather than others who teach you to hate government policy

The class is interesting but the teacher is a jerk!I hated having him as a teacher and my advice is to avoid him unless you want to spend 40 hours a week studying!
he thinks he is the greatest person alive and lets everyone know it, he is REALLY mean to the kids in class, he will pick someone out and make fun of them in front of the whole class. HIs tests are extremely difficult, and even though he says it's all in the notes, its not.
I actually like Sociology, but he is the worst professor I've ever had. You can know sociology inside and out, but if you don't think like he does, you're screwed.
Terrible professor. Doesn't care about his students and frequently picks people out of the class to insult for missing questions on tests. He's extremely full of himself. Avoid taking if at all possible.
Overall good professor. He keeps the class interesting but he does try to make it seem like he is the only one who is right. The test material is on things in power points but mainly books. Doesn't change tests much from year to year and the final is a guaranteed A, its exact questions from the previous tests.

He doesn't help you at all when you visit him during office hours. His tests are really hard. He says nasty comments when you go see him for help. He made me very upset when I saw him during office hours. I would not take this professor. He is not very helpful.
Love him or hate him! The man knows his stuff, and if you listen he will teach you how to succeed in life! Had him for Sociology and Renewable Energy Class. Sociology, he wasn't very helpful, expects you to figure it out on your own, for the Renewable Class, he gave you all the help you asked for and more! I wish he taught more classes!

If you go to his office for help with papers you will get an A otherwise he will mark you down. He thinks Pville is the best college for degree.
wow, saw all the nasty reviews, felt a contradiction was needed. Thought he taught fine, helpful in office hours, able to sit down and talk about problems. Believes in making you really work for your grade (no curves, extra-credit). really opens your eyes up, at least for me. I thought he was decent.
Great prof. Doesn't curve but on every test he takes off bad questions. The final is an easy A because all the questions are from other tests. Only two 250 word essays. Just go to class, pay attention, and read the book and you'll get an A.

not gonna lie he is straight up tough. you need to read your text book alot and follow all steps to his paper assignment and even if you think you did that you fail. i like the guy i think he makes some good points but i couldnt handle his class. I probably worked the hardest in this class and didnt see the results.
He is one of those professors that really challenges you and opens your eyes to the real world of college. I would take this class again but not for my grade point just to challenge myself i failed this class because he is real hard.
This professor is absolutely ridiculous, especially if you plan on taking him for Intro. to Soc. His tests are absurd and half the questions on them are irrelevant to the topic of Sociology. He's very self-absorbed and very into himself. Has his favorites, so suck up if you can. Tenured profs should be given evals every year b/c he needs to GO!
If you want to learn sociology, this professor is great! He follows what the book says, and he gives examples that relate to life. He also explains how sociology can be used in real life. It is a college class! It will be challenging but you will learn a lot!

If you want an easy class, do not take this guy. He will make you work and earn the grade you recieve. Although he is completely full of himself, if you do what he asks of you, attend class, pay attention, and ask for help when needed, you'll do alright. Probably the toughest professor I've had, but if you pay attention, you'll learn alot. He's ok.
This guy is an arrogant, cocky know it all. For some reason the city of Platteville elected him to the City Council. Just what he needs another forum(he writes for the local paper) where he can ramble on about useless crap. I learned nothing when I took his class other than he's a pretend golf pro who likes to hear himself talk.
Learned a lot in this class, but very difficult if not taken seriously. Great teacher, and hilarious if you listen carefully.
He is absolutely horrible!! His tests are IMPOSSIBLE unles you study all the time for his class. I understand he is trying to teach us good study habits but c'mon on the tests are a little too extreme for an introductory class! Good luck to all that take him. Maybe you can pull a C off and thats a real dang good grade for him!
Excellent Professor, Learned a lot. However don't let that kid you. The old rule**** in,**** out applies for this class, if you don?t work and learn your grade will be class. If you?re looking for an easy A this is not the place. However if you?re going truly work hard and study then Professor Dalecki class may be the place for you.
Great professor as long as you put in the work! He jokes around a lot but he's extremely knowledgeable. There is no way you can pass the class if you don't study hard.
I thought this man was very fair in the grade he issued me. I understand that a grade is what i earn not what i am given.I took a hard class during a challenging semester and I attended every class without completing my homework. If i had done the suggested work i know that i would have received a better grade. Than you Dr. D
He lectures and you take notes. His exams are all short answer and are on exactly what he said in class. 4 exams 2 papers. If he even thinks you dont know what your talking about you lose lots of points. You need to be in class and taking great notes. Before each exam he posts about 50 review questions, if you do them, you should be fine.
Michael opened my eyes to a whole new world with his intro to sociology class. It laid the foundation for all my future learning.
Taking renewable energy with him. The guy is a definite know-it-all, but he is very intelligent and knows his stuff. He gives you the questions for the exams before hand but will take points off if you don't give a good enough answer in his mind. Overall a great professor. Dr. Dalecki was the best professor I have had. I didn't expect much from intro to sociology but he not only teaches you about the class, but also about life. You will want to attend his lectures. I encourage everyone to take one of his classes
Crime and Delinquency - Lectures are sometimes interesting. Doesn't value student input/participation. Misleading parameters for exams and papers. Not helpful to students who ask for help--often mocks them for doing so. Extremely self-absorbed. Rants. Deducts points without justification. Not worth the CJ credits--take something else. Fair warning.
Great Teacher. Very eye opening. Not easy though. He does make you work, but if you like a little challenge, he will take you a long way.
DO NOT TAKE HIM. He talks a lot in class about his experiences, which is kind of interesting...but if you don't read the book, you WILL fail. His tests are nearly impossible to pass with above a C and he is a super hard/ridiculous grader. If you can avoid him, I advise you to. You will be struggling over an introductory course. Probably the worst professor I have EVER had. His tests are impossible unless you study a week ahead of time. Even when you put hours of studying in, you still won't get higher than a C. He talks about his 'success' and his kids entirely too much. Basically, just don't take him.
I took this class a few semesters ago now but it was the worst class I have taken. I studying so much and did so poorly. He thinks pretty highly of himself and he will make sure everyone knows it. He thinks if you can pass his class then you are meant to be in college. If you have the choice do not take a class with him.
Personally I fail to see why Dr.Dalecki is so widely disliked. He knows his stuff, and he tells a lot of stories that pertain to the concepts talked about in class to help you retain them better. Is his class easy? If you read the book, pay attention in class and show up consistently, I fail to see how it could be hard.

He's the worst professor I've had here. I did the whole study guide and made a notecard for his exam and I still failed, along with 3/4 of the class. Avoid him if you can.
If you enjoy listening to a Ego Centric lecture then this is the Professor for you. He loves to talk about how he can do so much better than teach students. He is extremely rude and gives sarcastic answers to questions in class. He gives impossible assignments. When approached about why something is wrong, he wont answer even thou you were correct.
Show up to class & read from the text, you will probably do ok, but the lectures are AGONIZING(would not wish on my worst enemy). 90% of lecture time he is telling boring/unrelatable stories, about his 'successes' in life, that don't pertain to the lecture material. VERY arrogant and rude, not approachable. Too study heavy for a general. AVOID!

Warning: do not take his intro to soc class expecting an easy A, he will really make you work for it! If you are looking to gain insight into the world around you and become a better college student in the process take his class! I found him to be a great lecturer and extremely intelligent. Would recommend! Fyi his tests are difficult
The only things I learned from him are he makes the greatest beer in the world, his house is super insulated, he is from Missouri. He wants you to think critically and come up with solutions, but if you do not write what he said word for word on the exams, you will fail. His class is entirely lecture based. Nothing is posted online. Never again.

Worst porfessor I have ever taken. Each exam is three essays, on things he did not teach in class. Gets into arguements/yelling matches with students if they do not agree with his views. He goes off topic very often. Will never take this professor again.
Spends more time talking about his accomplishments than teaching an intro level sociology course. Wastes class time talking about irrelevant topics and then complains that we dont have enough class periods in a semester. Would not recommend Dr. Dalecki.

I wish he would have taught us about sociology. Every single class we would instantly get off topic and talk about nonsense. Once a week we had to talk about how he makes the best beer in the world. He talks about how hes on tenure with UW-PLATTEVILLE so he says whatever he wants because they wont fire him. He truly is an awful professor.

His lectures for sociology tend to go off topic and he can talk forever. He brags about his personal life often too. He's tough on the grading and he often loses students' attention.
As said by others never had a professor say "Do you want to drop yet". Stubborn teacher who often rephrases "your wrong, I'm right". Grading is tough. All tests, open response, and expects word-for-word answers on his tests. No homework. Lectures are PowerPoint. Sidetracks and brags about personal things, like his "best-sealed house in Missouri".
Hands down the most interesting class that I have taken in college. The way he teaches it is interesting and captivating.
This professor was absolutely awful. Coming in to class expecting an A when learning about energy. This professor is not even an engineer as far as I am aware, he has a doctorate in psychology. His class consists of 4 exams, and all the grading is subjective. I would rather slam my Johnson in a car door than take his class again. Don't take him!
Has by far the most fair grading system I have come across. It was a fun class. His humor can be crude but the workload isn't all that bad.
Some of these reviews are very exaggerated. What they got right: He is a tough grader, He wants you to write things as you were explaining it to someone with no knowledge. What they got wrong: He is not egotistical, people can't understand sarcasm. He is a very nice man who loves to hear other's views. Good teacher but you got to study and work.
Awful professor who gives out up to 80 questions that could be on an exam but does not go over all the content in class. Grades based on exact answers and some question are memorizing his opinions as facts. Terrible professor, would never take again.
Although Dalecki causes you to think in a new way and teaches valuable real life information, his teaching style and attitude is not for everyone. No homework, but his tests are challenging as they all require essay answers randomly selected from the 70+ questions he provides. You can do well though, if you put in the work.
