Love this dude, it was his first year teaching so he wasn't that good in teaching in the beginning but after 3-4 weeks he really improved. His study guide was so helpful and understandable for the test which is good. I so far did 3 test got an A, D, B he really tries to help out by emails and help in his offices hours which. Funny caring awk dude
He's truly dedicated to his students. Lectures are usually clear & are supplemented with plenty of examples. Went above and beyond to ensure that we understood the content, even going so far as to sometimes conduct office hours on weekends for those who needed the extra help, usually before tests. Lots of online hw but that's standard. Great Prof!
First time teaching, yet he did very well. He's always available in office hours even on weekends, and always making sure you get the max possible points in class because he wants you to pass. However, you have to do your part, which is attending the math lab, doing the homework and quizzes, and attending Saturday reviews for tests. Very simple guy
At the beginning of the semester I was worried I made the wrong choice in professors, because it was his first time teaching a course, but as he got more accustomed to teaching and got more comfortable his lectures got better. He was always available when needed, and would explain test problems, and other problems.
Super chill professor, easy A! If you need to take this class to fulfill your credits defiantly take him!
I had him for pre-calculus and the man knows what he is doing. He understands that what helps students learn are examples of problems and thats basically all he does. Goes over pretty much every case of problem that you would see in his exams. Speaking of his exams they are fair. You need to study but he is an amazing grader.
Failed the first time I took this course, but it was completely my fault. Taking him again this semester because he is just that great! He will go out of his way and accommodate his office hours for you, even on weekends! Give all types of examples that will be on the exam. His exams are a bit hard, but if you go to office hours you will pass!
His lectures help a lot as he goes into detail and back to the basics, a lot of other pre-cal teachers don't really help as much. He's funny and really nice. He also sends reviews before each test and all those things are usually on the tests so it helps a lot.
His lectures consist of doing many example on the board and he occasionally gives out handouts for notes. There is online homework due every week. The quizzes can be taken online at home. He drops the lowest grade of each category except tests. This guy's a beast take him.
his class is boring he really expects ppl to know it all
Davidson's Trig class consists of 4 exams plus a final, online homework, in class quizzes, and a couple of offline homework assignments. He teaches by going over a concept and then giving an example immediately after, which is really helpful. He gives a LOT of extra credit and is always available for his students. Would definitely recommend him.
He explains material well and clear, and is more than happy to help you during class. He always welcomes students when they ask for help during his office hours. He is a fair grader and will try to give you points for whatever you do.
Professor Davidson is great. Trigonometry is a difficult subject, but he makes it easier to understand. He gives great examples in class and is willing to go over whatever questions you have. He was willing to come in on the weekend and have an exam review to help go over any questions we still had. Very good professor!
Clearly explained every element of every chapter. HW is easy and can be redone multiple times (Hybrid Class). Attendance was supposed to be "mandatory" but he stopped taking attendance after a few classes, however, he lectures really well and explains everything. All around, one of the best math professors you will find.
Professor Davidson is a great professor! He explains the concepts simply and clearly. He also provides several examples during the lecture. He responds to emails fairly quickly and sometimes extended deadlines for me! He is very caring! Take him!
Professor Davidson is a really caring guy. The way the class is set up honestly makes it so that most of them will be the same regardless of the professor, however he is understanding and wants you to do well. Very approachable and won't make you feel dumb for any questions you ask. Would take him again if possible.
I took this professor for precal and honestly if I could take him for calc I would. He is a reasonable grader and gives a lot of points for effort work shown even if you don't get the answer right on exams. He genuinely wants you to pass his class and is very accessible outside of class. What you learn in class is exactly whats on the exams.
He explains everything clearly and if you have a question he will take his time to answer it, unlike other math teachers I've met. Even though attendance isn't mandatory, it's recommended since his lectures make it easier to understand.
Staying awake in this guys class shouldve been considered an Olympic sport. I tend to like teachers that take their time explaining things but he took an unnecessary amount of time. Also, EXTREMELY disorganized when it came to posting due dates for homework. He was never at office hours so that made passing the class even harder. Not a fan.
He is a great professor. Took him twice for college algebra and for pre-cal. His notes are excellent and he takes the time to really explain. His tests are fair, not easy but you will learn math in his class. Study text book problems and you'll pass. Very nice and approachable. I would recommend to take any math class with him.
Save yourself and do not take this man. Pre-calc and trig is hard and this man takes in slow in the pre-calc section and rushes through trig. His exam are different from the exam, method wise because we can not use calculators on the test. He gives textbook questions as exam review. explains things weirdly
I started the semester with a professor , but she had an emergency and was gone for the second half of the semester. At the end, Davidson took over and all of our scores improved immediately. He dumbs everything down. He is VERY a forgiving when grading. If you do the math but get the right answer, youll still get credit.
Never had a professor say "I guess" when trying to explain something
I dont understand how he has high reviews. Now he is a nice guy but hes super awkward. He has no interest in befriending or getting close to his students and he makes that obvious. Alot of his classes have low averages. He piles up alot of hw. He takes it personal if people dont attend & or leave early. dont take him if you struggle in math.
Davidson may be shy and probably doesn't involve a lot with his students. However, his patience, kindness and help make him an amazing teacher. He will explain each exercise thoroughly even though it might get tedious until you understand it. His tests are tough, but if you study the necessary you can pass. Plus his grade curves will help you a LOT
Best math professor I've had at FIU. He gave second chances on tests and always extended deadlines for online homework and quizzes. His lectures were concise, step-by-step, and he uploaded them online, although he teaches a bit slow. He's rational and accessible outside class, as long as you're honest and display effort he will help you out.
WORST. TEACHER. OF. ALL. TIME!!! He cant teach no matter what. I've never been bad at math but then I came to this class and I've learned nothing. The course has zero order and the tests have NOTHING to do with what he's taught. What he tells us to study has nothing to do with the test. If your a step by step person DONT TAKE HIM!
Horrible professor. Does not know how to teach. The only upside is that he responds to emails fast. Asked him a question for a problem, and this man literally said, "I don't know, you tell me." If you don't take ANYTHING from what I have said, take this: Do yourself a favour and do NOT take this professor.
Nice and shy guy, but not a great teacher and very unclear on subjects. More than half of my class failed so be prepared to do your learning and work on your own time. Literally taught myself everything in this class, everyone had to teach themselves the course material. I will give the guy for at least trying to teach.
I had him for Business Calc and honestly I loved him. He was very patient and understanding. He posted all of the notes on Canvas. There were weekly homework and quiz assignments in MyMathLab (some were very long). He always extended deadlines when it was necessary. I would 100% take him again.
Davidson is great. I took the course in hybrid form and it was easy. The university required a lot of outside work though in the form of mandatory lab time (3 hours a week and 1 hour of study session with an LA). The course itself is really easy however and he gives a lot of opportunity to bring your grade up. Do ALL the work and you'll get an A.
Man does not know much about math but all MAC1101 classes at FIU are hybrids so you mostly teach yourself. A lot of people do fail his class because they can't keep up so make sure you stay on top of it and take all xtra credit opportunities he offers because they do help you BIG TIME.
This professor is great! I would definitely take him again. I took business calc with him as a hybrid class and there was a lot of homework, but enough time to complete it. The class consisted of pre-classes, offline homeworks, mymathlab assignments, quizzes, 4 tests, and a final. It seems like a lot of work but he's very helpful.
He's such a sweet and caring professor, he's always available for office hours and is super patience with your questions. This is a tough math, but his lectures are really good at explaining the topic. The test questions are like the ones from the weeksheets he gives in class, so do the work. Definitely would recommend him if you find math hard.
He knows how to teach math and his notes are easy to understand. Just go to class, pay attention, and do the homework. If you have any questions he will go back and explain it to you step by step. You have to do MyLabsPlus, pre-class assignments, homework (3-4 questions each), 3 exams, and a final.
I dont understand why this professor has bad reviews. When you ask him questions in class he wants you to think and participate, he doesnt say anything rude. If you have any hw questions he is more than willing to assist any student by showing them how the problem should be completed. He is just so caring, youll learn if you put in the effort.
Heavily inconsiderate of students personal issues such as hospitalized students or students with family issues. Accused me of cheating on the 2nd exam and forced me and me alone to show my hands during our last exams unlike another student in the same situation as me. Publicly embarrassed me during the exam as well for moving my hands for a second.
Great teacher
Actually, just the worst math teacher I've ever had, and the worst part is that we're paying them. Don't ask for examples because you won't get any. Doesn't care about his students and most definitely won't answer your emails until you call him out for it. The amount of work in this class is so outrageous for no reason AT ALL. Horrible class & prof
I have cried myself to sleep every single night prior to one of his exams. This is one of the worst professors at FIU. Super inconsiderate, unprofessional, and the work load is insane. Tests are monitored by 2 devices, there are over 4 hours of homeowrk every week, and other than teaching yourself the subject with youtube videos, zooms are useless.
this professor was okay. he didnt respond to any of my emails in a timely manner, but he is an easy grader overall and does give extensions. the only thing was that i felt it was a lot more difficult because this was online and it felt like him and his partner, Giancarlo Sanchez, just put everything on the LAs. i had to teach myself everything
The worst math teacher Ive ever had. If you want to spend upwards of 4 hours a week on meaningless homeworks and assignments then choose this class. Ive never written a review for a teacher, which shows you how bad he is. Unclear grading, you wont even know your grade in the class. Doesnt explain things clearly and overall horrible prof.
If you expect a teacher to actually teach math work this class is not for you. I'm good at math so I was able to do his assignments & teach myself but they won't teach it to you. There is so much hw from math gym, math lab, quizzes, preclass assignments, etc. Also there is 5 exams. If you keep up with your work and study you should be able to pass.
Worst class ever. When tests/ homework are graded, no feedback is given so it's hard to improve and see where you went wrong. Excessive amounts of assignments due per week that are graded harshly. I do not recomend this professor at all.
This professor is honestly a very nice guy, but his class is the worst! There is so much homework and while there is enough time to finish it you will spend majority of your week just on this class. Everything he grades is super harsh and unclear, does not curve and his zooms are just more confusing. You will have to teach yourself most of it.
I was put in this class without a choice and it honestly was my worst class. This professor doesnt explain anything and is confused himself on the topics hes teaching. The zooms never made sense and I always had to figure it out myself. Doesnt respond to emails either. Its very discouraging to be in his class.
worst professor ever. do not take him. he doesnt care about his students and is very clueless on what hes teaching. the zooms were a headache and everything he does is chaotic. there isnt any organization in the things he does or how the class is set up. save yourself from this headache please
this really wasn't as bad as others described it. yes online and zooms where hard, but its hard for everyone including professors not just students. whoever failed this class it was because they didn't care, not because this professor couldn't teach. He gave plenty of help and further assistance to those who asked for it and cared for it.
The class is really tough and being online made it worse. So much homework and he doesnt even grade the pre classes. All of those points add up and probably could have helped some students in the end. The professor himself could be rude at times. When I realized I was failing I asked if there were tutoring options and he straight up told me no.
Lot's of work. Lot's of work. Lot's of work. Pretty good at teaching the material, but quick to anger (someone's dog was barking in the background on zoom) and can be snarky in his email replies. Gives you the chance to skip final IF you already have an A in the class. Wish I could have given him a 3.5/5. Lots of work on Pearson Mylab.
The teacher is fine but the course structure is a mess. They moved everything to remote because of Covid while charging in-class tuition fees. The class is too full of students to get anything constructive from the meetings and the grading criteria is convoluted. This really needs to be a fully online course.
Lectures were simple, but he gave attitude when asked questions. I think he gave too much homework, it was lots of worksheets, group class work, and mathlabs. The exams were on Lock down browser and through zoom at the same time. He had two exam times on a day that we did not have class. You could exempt the final exam.
This teacher is not good. Hes nice and all but he cannot teach! I do not recommend him. If you want to learn and pass MAC1105, then pick someone else. I have not learned one single thing all semester. If you do take him, make sure to have someone that could help you learn the subject.
Do not take his class if you are trying to pass. He assigns so much homework! The tests are extremely hard and you have to schedule to take them outside of class time. He gives lectures but does not give great examples that can help us complete our homework or our assignments. The examples he gives in class are not like anything that's on the test
Amazing professor but if you want an A you have to show up to class and put in all the work. During class, you do a worksheet, he and the LA's go around asking if anyone has questions. On Saturday he gives a quiz and a hw on the lessons learned. On Sunday videos about the next lesson. You can exempt his exam and he is a good grader and accessible.
Professor Davidson was very helpful. He'll work with you if you need extra help or if you want to review a test. He'll even give you more points on a test if you review with him and he sees you just made silly mistakes. I highly recommend him as a professor.
He explains the class in a way everyone can understand it easily. He gives a lot of homework weekly but it helps in understanding the material
He doesn't teach at all, you will have to learn everything on your own in order to pass. The class is literally a 10-minute lecture, a worksheet that you don't have to do and in the end, you have a 3 question quiz in order for him to take attendance. 4 hours of math lab every week, 1 hour of math gym, and a lot of homework.
He is a nice person but cannot teach he gives A LOT of homework most of the time you learn everything on your own time. i would not recommend taking him if you are trying to pass.
As long as you study enough to know all the subjects you get an A easily due to free unlimited attempts and he forgives a few mistakes on assignments. The only thing he doesn't forgive is when he hands you exercises due same day and you don't do it but even this is rare and not worth much.
Don't take him! I've taken classes at MDC & FIU worst professor I have had my 3 yrs of college. Confuses himself while teaching, further confusing students. Explains long way to solve problems then right after will show a short way not allowing students to use shorter way. A mess with grades/assignments, exams are nothing like what you do in class!
He gives loads of homework and isn't accesible outside of class. If you can take this class with other professor, do it.
This is the second time I take this class and he did a really good job at teaching this course. He always goes over any questions a student has and his notes are easy to understand. The course itself is a mess but he did a great job. It consists of 3 exams and a final. Sometimes he counts attendance and theres like 4 in class quizzes overall.
(took this in fall 2021) Cons: attendance mandatory, lot of hw, quizzes, videos due each week. 3 exams and 1 final (can be exempt), doesn't teach much, have to teach yourself the content. Pros: answers questions, zooms available before exams, in-depth study guides(KEY TO PASS), you can work together in class, nice guy. DO THE WORK AND YOULL PASS

He is just a bad professor. The reason I passed is because of my prior knowledge. Nothing new was learned and going to class was just pointless. I know its a larger class, but he would lecture and it was him just talking out loud. Whenever a question was asked he just didn't know how to respond. He just doesn't know how to explain concepts.
Do not expect to pass class if you do not take time to study. Professor was always available and helped me with problems before the exams as well. He provides study guides and the exams were easy. Practice his problems and the documents he gives you in class. If you failed a learning goal, try to do his in class reassessment.
DO NOT TAKE!! Davidson seems like a cool guy but is very dismissive of situations from the class. A bunch of homework, like four hours of sitting down for a couple of problems and tests weekly. Attendance was recorded by doing in class assignment. He teaches extremely fast and then gets confused as to why there are questions.
Professor Davidson is very kind and accessible outside of class if I ever came across any issues. In this class you basically must teach yourself the material in order to pass. Be prepared for homework once a week and other math lab assignments. There were 4 exams which heavily determined your grade. Passing's doable, just requires a lot of effort.
The professor is chill but the class itself you basically have to learn how to do it on your own. You are required to go to the Math Lab to get 1 hour 30 mins of "math" done outside of class and there are people who help u with it individually. The tests are the majority of your grade so you have to study a lot for it but there are test retakes.
He is amazing! He not only makes the material easy to understand, but he is also willing to help a lot! The tests are not hard as long as you study and pay attention in class, you should pass with an A! I would take him again and recommend him for this class.
This professor was terrible, I myself had to teach myself everything and barely managed. He goes through the lectures super fast and wonders why nobody understands. Homework assignments are like 60 questions a week plus mandatory lab hours.
He goes through lectures super fast and gets annoyed if you ask for questions. You have to go to the lab for 90 minutes every week and complete pre-class assignments, in-class, and homework of 40+ questions. There are 4 tests and each is divided per material you see each week, the tests weight a lot to your grade, 60% and final 20%.
Attendance not mandatory, but if absent you can fall behind quick. He tries his best to make topics easy to understand. He gives study guides, makes himself available outside of class & reviews some math basics during lecture. He gives many opportunities to pass this course. Only downside was the amount of homework + pre class every week
Easy class even though there was a lot of work which consisted of modules, pre class assignments, in class assignments, and homework questions. There were 4 exams + final but you are able to retake each exam another time (except the final). You can pass if you actually try and put in the effort. Davidson was chill and helped you out when needed.
Good math professor he gives good notes and isn't harsh.
BEST PROFESSOR EVER. Haven't taken a math class in years and he explained everything dilligently. There are tests every week, attendace in math lab & class are mandatory, and he offers great help. Took him over the summer so everything was more fast-paced but as long as you apply yourself this course is a breeze.
Really chill professor. I think concepts like math are near impossible to teach to a crowd where everyone learns differently. Some people in my class got everything instantly, some didn't. If you have any issues, talk to him, and he will absolutely help you until you understand.
Being completely honest, this was an average class. One lecture a week, went very fast in class. When asked a question the responses werent very helpful. Have to complete and hour and a half weekly of mathlab hours in the mathlab where there is TA's who help you. To be honest the TA's help more than the proffesor.
Can be helpful sometimes, one time my friend asked for help and he said that her desk was wet and walked away. doesn't teach in class makes you do guided videos instead
Please do not take this professor if you struggle with math, he will not be a great help. If you do take this class, nearly everything, you have to teach yourself. The lectures are about 1 hour and 15 minutes, half lecture and half hands-on work. He is not good at explaining things, do not expect a thorough and clear response when asking questions.
The test are hard, but the retakes come in handy. Study for the retakes, don't wait for the final. It will be too late, final is nothing like practice test he provides. Don't wait till the final to study you will not make a passing grade! He is also very by the book barely any extra credit. Test are pretty heavily weighted, hw barely helps.
Tests make up around 80% of your total grade in this class, there is around 7 total with each being around 3-6 questions. He checks the grades right after with the class for instant feedback on how you did. The tests being graded so heavily means you can skip out on many assignments and attendence grades as long as you do well on tests. Great Guy.
Hes a good prof, allows retakes and the class was not difficult, normal amount of homework for a math class, and lots of opportunities to make your grade better, actually cares about his students and answers questions genuinely, also a funny guy I would take another class with him for sure :)
Would take a class with him again. Very understanding and helpful!
Not good at explaining things he would just go by lesson like you're supposed to know everything. You will have tests almost every class. There are retakes for each test you take. STUDY! You really have to study and put in the work. Go to math lab and do all your work it will all add up for your grade at the end. I passed and taught myself.
This was my second time taking this course, and with this professor he helped me so much to pass the class. As long as you study for the retakes and do all your homework/extra credit, you should be able to pass. He is nice and genuinely cares for his students to understand the material.
If you want to not understand any of the material and teach yourself everything then take this class. He barely teaches and there are so many things on assignments that he doesn't go over. I already took college algebra junior year of hs and had the highest grade in both classes, so for me to be struggling says a lot about this professor.
Awesome professor! Class is structured a bit unusually with the grading style but it works. Tests can be made up. Gives two homework assignments and pre-class assignments weekly, sometimes they are lengthy but are similar to test questions. Math lab participation is required. Final exam had no weight on grade, 60 or above was needed to pass class.
his teaching style is unusual and also a very awkward professor. didnt like how he rushed through the material and wasnt really trying to get to know his students. he didnt have any office hours even though tests made up 80% of the class. plus he gave too much homework that didn't correspond with these tests. overall, you have to teach yourself
Very nice and chill guy. Homework and pre-class assignments can take a while plus an hour and a half of math lab hours. He teaches well and gives good examples. Tests are easy IF you study, he gives practice tests that are the exact same as the test so use them!
Professor Davidson was a pretty good teacher. I had him for MAC 1105 and MAC 1147, his tests aren't very difficult and his homeworks aren't that bad. If you go to mathlab, focus on your pearson and just get the assignments done his tests will be very easy. He offers retakes for every exam and is very lenient. Highly recommend taking his class.
Professor Davidson was extremely demeaning during class time and acted as if you should already know everything he was teaching before he "taught it". The LA's were great in the class. His lectures are a copy paste from the videos along with similar worksheets. Finally, the grades are never posted on canvas/ accurate. I would avoid him if possible.
If you're a busy person juggling work and other commitments, this professor might not be the best fit for you. He's uncaring. Assessments are 80%.The learning goals are also stupid. Each question in an assessment is a learning goal and you get 3-5 questions. 30 in total.Sounds ''alright,'' trust it isn't. Honestly, I don't recommend him, at ALL.
He is amazing. If you actually put in the work you will easily pass. Yes, there is a lot of work but I promise its worth it. He is genuinely so sweet and actually cares about his students. He wants you to pass and will do everything in his power to help you pass, as long as you also put in effort. I would love to take him again!
Professor Davidson is great. He's a little awkward, but he wants his students to learn. You have a weekly in-class worksheet due and homework due every Sunday. His grades are test-heavy, but he allows retakes for all exams except for the final. The LAs were also super helpful. If you study and go to the math lab, you'll do great in his class.
Professor Davidson is a headache to say the least. His homework consist of 60 question Pearson assignments that aren't even taught in the lectrues. As well as tests being an overwhelmingly majority part of the grade. DO NOT TAKE HIM!
