I believe that Dr. Denniston knows his chemistry unfortunately he is unable to teach to his students. He doesn't like for you to ask questions either.
Dr. Denniston is the worst instructor that I've ever had. Take anyone else!!!
He was the most boring teacher I've ever experienced.He spent most of the time writing equations on the board and acted like he didn't want to answer any questions.It's obvious he loves chemistry, unfortunately that's not enough to be an effective teacher
Denniston is a horrible teacher.He makes you hate chemistry. Don't take this guy unless you don't mind giving hard time for yourself,,,,,,,,don't take it,,,,,I mean it,,,,,,,,don't.
Denniston is a very unhappy man because he was dealt both the short and bald cards. He clearly takes his frustration out on his students. Avoid him at all costs!!!
If you have the hope scholarship avoid this instructor. My class started with 50 students we have 10 students left. Almost everyone dropped because they could not grasp his teaching style.
Make sure you have caffiene before class, these lectures can easily put you to sleep. He is also the hardest grader I have ever seen, almost no one in my class made over a 30 out 50 on any of his quizzes.
Very Very hard teacher. In my two years at this school I have never experienced a teacher such as this. His exams (quizzes) are extremely difficult as you have no idea what it is that he wants, and if you do not put this invisible idea you fail.

This is a very difficult teacher. Avoid him. The only good thing about him is that he is clear when giving notes (not on his quizzes though). I feel sorry for him to have taught for so long only to lack the ability to teach at all.
Worst instructor of all! He's not helpful. Exams are extremely difficult. Take someone else for Chem, even if you have to go to another school. Half our class dropped, and the other half failed.
Denniston writes really good notes on the board but unfortunately doesn't know how to relay them to the class. He is extremely unhelpful and I believe that it is his mission in life to make as many people drop his class as possible.

If you want your GPA to stay at an good average, then DO NOT TAKE DENNISTON. Drop before midpoint or best of all DO NOT SIGN up for his class period.
HE is very hard and he looks like the brain in Pinky and the brain. He told me that my "D" avg was above average and wanted to know what I was complaining about.

He will make you look like an idiot before answering any questions, and then you are luck to get an answer. That is because we will never be as smart as he is!!!!!

His goal is to make you drop his class. Very unclear and not helpful at all.
I wouldn't say Principle Chemistry is easy. I do not know why people complain about him. I think he is very helpful , but you have to go to him and ask him for help. He is available in his office and he checks his emails everyday. How many times did you go to him and ask him for help?
Not helpful, test are comprehensive and extremely hard. Our class started with 40 and ended with 15. Out of the 15, maybe 2 are passing. He gets a kick out of seeing how many folks will drop his class. Avoid by all means necessary.
How this man became a teacher, I do not know, but I do know this, do not take his class!!!

Good grief! If you want to survive college DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER! DO NOT! He grades the tests too hard and wants way too many specifics for any non-science major to ever know. And come to think of it, I've heard computers speak with more life & energy! I'm falling asleep just thinking of it!

AWFUL & BORING!!!!!!!! This man has a serious problem. He teaches and grades as if we were at an ivy league school. Avoid this man if you can. If you can't, you better study your entire textbook over and over and over again.
The class was not that hard. This guy has attitude problem. Attitude matters a lot.

Explains things alright in class, but if asked questions, no straight answers and you get*ATTITUDE*.I've received 3 student of semester awards so I'm not dumb, but if I asked a question, he treated me like I was THE *biggest idiot! DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER!(unless you already know all the answers!!)

This teacher is very boring. The information he gives you in class is not the same information on your test and Quiz. If he can stop talking like the man on the Visine commercial and be more helpful to his students maybe he will be an improved human being. But until then AVOID HIS CLASS.
i tried my best in his lab and Ds were all i got for every lab report that i turned in. Lab is designed for learning the lecture beforehand, hence minor errors should be disregarded. This teacher ignores all my efort that put in the lab report and expected me to be impossibly 100% correct. Extremely regret taking his class!!!

Dr. Denniston is one of those professor that makes it extremely difficult for you to get an A. Run from his class he does not grade fair! Not only this, he is not very helpful, and each time he tries to explain the answer to your question he makes it even more complicating than it already is.
I took Denniston's lab 2 semesters (Fall 2005 and Spring 2006).I was the only Vietnamese guy in his lab (1211) "I got B in his lab." In the 1212lab I got "C" cauz I didn't study well. I think he is a good professor. However, his grading scale is hard. If you decide to study, take his class. If you decide to get good grade, don't take his class.
This is the worst teacher in history, and no that is no mere exaggeration. Do not take his class if you want to earn a good grade and learn.

This guy has a serious problem. He can tell a joke and tell you his mom is dead and you can't tell if he's happy or sad. It's like he gets botox injections everyday before class in his face and voicebox!!! He wont answer any questions. He curves the final grades 5 points and no one still makes an A. Not to mention no group labs!
He requires you to turn in homework everyweek, and 70% of your grade comes from tests. His class is very boring, I find myself looking at the clock every 5 minutes. Looking past that, he is a very nice guy and has optional homework help sessions if you are having trouble.
Yes he is a tough professor. But if you actually pay attentition, do the homework, and are thorough, you'll do fine. Some people aren't ready for the real world.

do not take it if you dont have to. maybe the worst class ive taken in college. he grades extremely hard and no group work. the labs take forever like 3 hours.
denniston expects his students to know the course before he teaches-which I think is quite insane. There isn really anything2learn from him-at d end of d smester if u survive, pat urself cuz u've actually taught urself instead of him doing it2u.He's the tuffest grader-by far I'v known. Taking him is only like spoiling the GPA. pEACE.
Horrible for lecture, ok for lab. To answer questions he restates what he just said. Don't bother listening to lectures you can read along in the book. Highly recommend another teacher for lecture. I think he has a script writen out because he just strems through the material like everyone already understands and doesn't explain anything
yea, its right he is challenging but just think that ur aim is high too. Really it helps u to know a lot about the subject and start working hard.he is awesome teacher for whom who wants to study hard. take this teacher i am sure it will help u a lot in future. u will really know how to study and still u have lot more to do in future then start now
His tests aren't really that hard. The homework every week gets annoying. I would recommend trying to get another professor but don't freak out if he's the only one your schedule fits.

good professor, lectures good, his tests are difficult but test the material well. If you do the HW then the test's will be OK.
He is very strict, but very clear about what he expects. His lectures are very helpful.
he is an awful teacher. he writes all his notes on the board and essentially talks to the board. I don't mind working hard or taking notes, but you must yell his name to get his attention because he's always talking to the board. looks like the evil scientist from the "Nightmare Before Christmas"!
Quite possibly the worst teacher I have encountered during my years in school. Have sent him countless emails for assistance with the labs with no response. There is not a problem with a teacher being difficult and demanding but there is one with someone who refuses guidance to his students when requested.
The biggest problem with this person is his unwillingness to help students. If you ask him a yes/no question, he will give the longest answer, but still not answer the question. He grades the lab reports very hard. On many labs, I got the calculations right, got my values close to the theoretical value, but still never got over 80 on lab quality
This guy is hard. If you expect an easy A, then get another teacher. He grades everything incredibly hard but i guess it does make you want to work hard. He doesnt really help you that much if you ask him for help and he doesn't do much to make the lab interesting. Many people dropped out after the first day and I did make a mistake for staying...
some are born evil. this guy is evil. I FEEL HE INTENTIONALLY wants his students to fail. he doesnt want good for any of his students. comes to class and talks to the board. he lacks teaching skills. this is not about tudents being lazy. it is this guy who is lazy and a lousy teacher.

Horrible instructor. Quizes are BEFORE the lab so sometimes you have no idea how to do the equations. He grades lab reports too harshly. He dances circles around your questions, answering them with questions and vague "answers". He's a nice guy, but I am hating this class! I've never failed a science class. :(

He is not a good teacher to be sincere. I am a student that has a 3.50 G.P.A but his class is going to drop my G.P.A. I would advise you not to take him because, He does not know how to explain, He expects you to know the course before you take his class. (that is how he teacher). Please, if you have an alternate teacher, take him/her.

He doesn't not care about his students..infact, i think he went out of his way to make us fail! he is boring and yes he does talk to the board and doesn't answer questions. you have exams every 2 weeks and very long homeworks due with each exam. HE IS A VERY GOOD TEACHER. Don't believe the stories you may hear or read about him being horrible. He is funny, thoughtful, and thourough. It is required that you read, study, listen, but this is college. His test are straight from notes and assignments, and he tells you basically what to study. If you come, listen, study..then easy A.
Denniston's lab is no non-sense. He is clear in his explanations and he will answer questions, but he will not hold your hand through the experiments. You have to do your homework and keep up or you could get confused. The midterm and final are open notebook, but very thorough. So take good notes.
Undoubtedly the hardest class I've ever had, and I just took Calc III...very unhelpful, didn't even supervise the lab half the time, just stood outside talking to other profs. or reading the bulletin boards. I love chemistry, but this man single-handedly changed my career path. DO NOT TAKE.

He is very rude, sarcastic, and unhelpful as well. In the lab he expects for you to know everything. If you have a question his answer is really vague and dry. The atmosphere in the classroom was not inviting. A couple of people in my class had to withdraw from his class because its hard. DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!!!!! I REPEAT DON'T DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This professor is extremely unhelpful, he does not give direct answers to ANYTHING, he expects you to know everything without him teaching it to you and even when he does teach, it makes absolutely no sense, he really expects way too much from a chem2 class. way too hard, incomprehensible, made l D's on lab reports that i spent hours on
worst teacher ever, not fair,very tough when grading reports. i did awesome lab reports that i spent hours on and i never made over a C on any of them. rude and unhelpful. worst teacher of all time.
very very uninspiring, knows chemistry well but expects the students to be on the same level as him. answers were uninvited and always answered with another question. I admit if I had spent five hours a day on this class everyday I would have a C, but I have a gpa of 3.7,so I know hard work, however was class was over the top confusing and hard.
Dr. Denniston, already have many students in medical and pharmacy schools. If you want to be the man, take the real chemist in the house, Dr. Denniston.

Dr. Denniston is truly a great educator. If you are willing to work hard and learn, you will appreciate the value of his class.
Much like Communism, Denniston's teaching methods 'look good on paper.' He sounds like the Penguin for Batman, and enjoys ridiculing students' work. He grades harshly, interrupts presentations, and tries not to help if he can avoid it. He has a few gross, distracting habits... Otherwise, if you work hard, you'll likely succeed. Somewhat. <- HONESTY
Last Summer I took Dr. Denniston's Lab class. I am a transient student from UGA and I am a science major. I recommend all students who are considering taking this professor, think again. His lab grading was extremely hard and he was not helpful one bit when you asked questions. Worst teacher I have ever had in my college experience.
All i have to say is... that i've always used this site for picking my teachers and its always been pretty true!! i am not lying when i say DO NOT TAKE THIS MAN!!! will not answer questions talkes in code and will not even tell you if you are even doing something right!!! i've only had one lab with this man so far and i went home and cryed!!!
his class is very hard that only 6 ppl were in his lab& 11 ppl in his lecture after midpoint. a lot of ppl dropped his class cuz he never explains anything well.when u go to his office for help, he's never willing to give u good help. if u decide to take him, then dont expect to have a life.please DONT TAKE THIS PROFF.u'll go home crying every day
Since I took chem already and I took him for chem, I thought I would pass even though he is kinda hard. His tests were different. I mean he gave 8 tests and each test has 4 questions. Whatever he teach in the class will be on the test and for the hw you have to read on ur own. He will not help that give ur answer.
I took Dr. Denniston's Lab for Chem1212, and you have got to be willing to work HARD to get a good grade in this class. He is probably the hardest teacher at Georgia Perimeter, and I truly learned something in his class. He is willing to help you, and taking his class will pay off in the end. I'm glad I took his class!
I don't get all the bad ratings. If you have any questions he's always willing to help. He doesn't GIVE you the answer -- he makes you THINK about it. Put the effort in and you'll be fine. Grading isn't that hard, just know where your error comes from. Study prelab = good on prelab quiz (online) = good in class = good on lab report = good grade.
He is a very difficult professor. I took him during the summer and I almost died. I would not wish him to teach my worst enemy, he is horrible at explaining things and don't expect him to really try to help you. If you have absolutely no life and you are a master at chemistry, then he might work out better for you than he did for me.
Oi dont know what all these lazy people are talking about, but honestly, if you complete your work, it's not hard at all. afterall it is college and you need to learn. he actually helps you understand every detail& he's more than happy to help you. all you have to do to get an A in his class is study,just like all other classes.for med stdnts great
it's time to register! I took Dr. Denniston for Chem 1 lab & lecture, and got an A in both classes. He's not hard. the only students who complain about him are the ones who have no knowledge of chemistry whatsoever. if you have highschool chemistry, then his class is just college level, same material covered from highschool. im taking him for chem2
