DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER
Semi-difficult teacher. Dry humor. Lots of lecture, lots of reading assignments.
Lots of work but I learned a lot...really knows his field

Boy the smartest teacher i have had. Worked my ass off but learned a lot. Funny
Knows his stuff...works you but you learn---if you try.
you have to put the effort in or you will fail

don't take him for an intro course- he's too advanced. very helpful one on one
He's a great guy, dry sense of humor. You have to work hard though
i slept the best in his class till i dropped the class..boy i miss my naps
Best course this semester...I'll see how his finals are in a few days. I learned
Do most of your work & you'll do fine. Very clear & straightforward teaching. :)

learned more from him than any prof. He drops a lotta knowledge, it's up to you to spin that into wisdom.
Adorable!
Unhelpful, and not a very good teacher.
Very cool prof, I came away from this class learning a lot. Just pay attention and say hi to him in the hallways and you'll do fine.
This professor is hot!
Give this man a chili pepper!!!!!!!!!!!
I am a junior and this is the best course I have had at Siena. He is really interested that we learn. He likes questions, even tho nobody seems to ask. Very smart and involved in his field. I love his dry sens of humor. He wants you to know the stuff and
this guy is just too smart, and he can't come down to the level of the students. i was so confused throughout the class -- retained nothing.
Lotta stuff to learn, but he will help you if you ask or visit him. I learned quite a bit this semester. Helpful comments on my paper; I understand writing better.
Great Professor! Learned a LOT!
Interesting fellow, I came away from his class with a lot of knowledge. He is always willing to help out, but the material is VERY tough in his class.
Dr. Dick's problem is that he's over everybody's head and shy. Just try hard and be nice to him and you will do fine. He's VERY interesting.
he is way too vague, gives pop quizes, and his books sucks. makes you read two books at same time, but doesn't tell you to read the other
nice buy but a horrible teacher. his tests are easy but it's a difficult class. he puts everyone to sleep and talks about how his degree is in hebrew not theology. DO NOT TAKE HIM! you'll want to die.....
very hard teacher but very nice when you go talk to him. willing to help but definitely not an easy class
Dr. Dick is the man. He is really knowlageable, knows EVERYTHING in his field. Really helpful and a nice guy. He has a dry since of humor, but its funny.
dr. dick is so cool, he's a nut, but i love it! he is so willing to help u out if u have q's and his tests n quizzes are very easy if you do the reading.
Give this poor man his Chili pepper! Thats all he really wants! He is a really nice guy and funny, always helpful. Class can get tough, but if you do the readings, it isn't so bad!
um all i can say is BEWARE OF HIS TEXTBOOK!!
Everyone says Dr. Dick is hard, but his class is not all that difficult. I enjoyed RELG 121 very much, made me want to at least minor in Religious Studies. He wrote the textbook, just read it and you will get an A.
He has a bad rep but i think dick is pretty easy. his class is boring as hell but when it comes down to it, it is not hard to get a good grade.
Great teacher! He helped me write the best paper I have written in College (Junior). Tough concepts but is willing to answer any questions and really trues to get us involved. Dry sense of humor. Keep working on that textbook.
He is horrible...I got a D in his class. Here's a tip..if a professor is using his own text book for the class...run for the hills because chances are he's going to be hard as hell.
Wow, how could a person get a D in that course? I learned a helluvah lot and got a good grade. He helped me a lot on my paper and when I came to his office (hard to find). Funny guy who REALLY knows his stuff. Not that bad a grader.
I looked up my grade on Prometheus and saw mostly Bs a few Cs and a fair amount of As. Hard to get a D without trying. There was a lotta work but damn I learned a lot. I didn't know how much until I went to Xmas services and could understand the bible rea
Funny and really bright. He was a good grader too...all you had to do was read his book. He was available for questions. Take him.
He's obviously more intelligent than everyone in the room. It's too bad he can't communicate as well as you'd like. His textbook is awful but he's always willing to help. Very easy if you keep up with the homework and reading. Bring your Bible.
Like the course---he knows what he is talking about, cares that we understand and enjoy the course---great sense of humor. He let us rewrite really bad midterms for a better grade. Fun class. Does not take attendance!
Great Course! I had heard such bad things about this guy. But I loved the semester; he demands a lot but is willing to go over it until we learn it. Fair exams too. I did well on the final ;-) He has a wild sense of humor
Such a character and a cultured man. He is the ideal teacher in that he knows a great deal about the topic and he wants you to succeed in the course. The book is a little rough, but that is to be expected with any religious studies class. Take Him!
He is a good teacher as long as you do the work. If you get a bad grade in the course it is your own fault. Do the work and you will do good. Quizzes come straight from the homework in the book.
Great teacher! He is so interested that we learn and gets us all involved! His quizes are easy--if you do the work. He wrote the textbook, which is tricky, but he explains it carefullya nd it amkes me think. Take him...best teacher I had at Siena!
Funny as hell. Like the class. He knows his stuff like no other teacher I've had at Siena (I am a junior). He varies the class so it doesn't get as boring as it could. If you don't understand, it's your fault. He always is interested in our questions and even begs for 'em. He has a weird sense of hu
Try to get another teacher for this class. Although hes a nice guy and can be funny, hes not very clear or interesting. He asks "what you feel" about things, but then tells you its wrong if its not exactly what he wants. & also you have to buy his book, which just makes the class more confusing
YAHWEH. class sucks.
Michael Dick is one of the best at Siena. He is a great teacher...funny, easy, and u'll learn a lot. Only a few tests and a bunch of quizes. There's 1 paper that he gives u a month or two to do. I got a 100 on the final. Great Guy!
Honestly the class is so boring, but you have to take him. Not many good religion teachers and he is fairly easy. You will get 100's on all the quizzes and he only has a midterm and a final. No paper. I did very well and didnt put in an abnormal amount of work.
strange class...the prof puts a lotta burden on us to ask questions and stuff. The material is difficult..but if I ask questions I get an answer. he really knows his stuff like few profs at Siena. He has a strange sense of humoir too. I guess it can be as interesting as we make it...
Well the semester is almost over! I think I am getting a low A or high B, depends on final. I have learned a lot in this class. He knows his stuff! Its nice to be in a class where the proff realy is an expert in a field. Dont know why he doesnt teach other courses...I'd take one just to watch him
Dont even know where to begin. Worst class ever, get out while you still can! He is SO unclear its not even funny. BAD grader TOO! Hes a really nice and funny guy, but it the worst teacher I've ever had. I HATE his class.
Best teacher I had at Siena in 3 years here. Really knows his stuff, if you do the work---and you better!--you'll do great. He'll explain everything but demands that you ask questions. I did the work and expect a good grade. and is funny as hell. Interested in us doing well.
Dick knows his stuff better than any prof here. Lectures can be alittle dry, but as long as you read class is easy enough.
MUCH better course than I had heard about. The guy is funny as hell...weird sense of humor and REALLY knows his stuff. Not many Siena faculty publish as much as he does. You gotta put in your work. But he really cares taht you learn studff and THINK too. If you don't, well....tough****.
nice guy who really knows his stuff. kinda rambles on and always gives a long complicated answer for any question you might have. i didn't do the reading or understand the class and i still managed to get an A

Ben Stein seems like Chris Farley compared to this guy. Possibly one of the most confusing Professors to grace PhD status. His class is based on everybody asking questions, but his answers make ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE.
Like his approach---it's up to us--to attend to or ask questions. I read the other guys comments. Hey if his answers dont make sense then keep asking for clarification. He likes that. I like being given responsbility for the class. I have asked questions and kept rephrasing until I am happy
He's test are very difficult and he is the most biased person I have met while attending Siena. The sound of his voice alone will make you withdraw,,,,, seriously. According to his the only right answer is his.
Take him! Best class this junior has had at the College. Dick knows his stuff and is really a scholar. He expects us to do a lot and if we don't well...I guess it's up to us. His has a crazy sense of humor to. I have worked my ass off but am getting a good grade---hes fair.
Awesome teacher! He has a wierd style tho. He expects us to ask questions or else...We gotta take responsibility. We don't have to go to class but I don't know how I'd pass if I didnt. He really knows the subject!! Exams are hard but fair. I have learned a lot in that class. He can be very funny.
Didn't think I'd like this class...Ive had it with religion classes, but I learned a lotta stuff. I got to think the class over some it always leaves me with questions. I heard he isnt going to be here the next couple years. He's teaching somep[lace in Europe. He always answers my questions.
Damn I goofed serious. He didn't require attendance so I went to few classes; on the final I didnt know****. Some guys told me he went over most of this stuff the last couple classes. Now I gota take it over again. Go to his classes if you wanna pass.
He seems like a pretty cool guy, but the content he expects you to grasp seems to be a lot for an intro level course. He says that you don't need prior exposure to the Bible, but he expects you to answer questions based on deeper understanding.
Honestly, this guy is the worst. My roommate took him the semester before me and said he was so easy, and then i took him and he changed his whole curriculum. Hard tests, and hard grader. No papers is a plus but this guy is mad weird. Dont take him .. RUNNN
This guy is the best prof at Siena! He really knows his feild. I learned more in his class than any I have taken..and I am a junior. I heard he isnt here this year. Too bad. Hope he comes back. Its nice to have a prof who is smart. He is also funny as hell. wierd sense of humor. I think alota the class misses his jokes. He wrote the book.
Dick is the man. I missed 15 classes and still got a C+. Definitely knows what he is talking about and makes very funny side jokes that no one picks up on. If you have any interest in learning that the Bible is a bunch of bullcreated from other bull definitely take him. You learn a lot. Nice dude too, communicate with him and he'll like you.
I have honeslty never had such a bad professor. He says that to do well just attend class and do the homework and ask questions, I did all and studied really hard for the midterm but if you don't say what he wants you to using the exact words he wants, if you don't say everything right he doesn't give partial credit. Seriously he sucks!!!!
zzzzz... strongly encourages people to ask questions and bases the tests on them but still the tests are difficult. Ive been going to catholic schools my whole life and have never heard of any of the stuff this guy is teaching but he claims you need no prior knowledge of the material......
Smartest prof I ever had at Siena (I am a junior). He presents hard concepts, but does everything he can to make them clear. He puts a lotta stress on us too...that's refreshing.
Quite a class! I really learned a lot. He doesnt require attendence, so a lotta guys didnt show up. I dont see how they could pass if they werent in class. he answered questions, tried to get us to think. It was hard but fair. This guys knows so %$#& much.
Rough guy, demands a lot because he knows so much. But hes fair and explains everything. You gotta ask questions, he loves questions in class. He has a weird sense of humor, but I really liked him.
Good...but takes some getting used to. Funny wierd sense of humor.
Good guy, funny and smart
Funny as hell...when he tells story about his past, I laugh my ass off. He is smart too and knows so much, hard but I think i9m learning a lot.
The class was stressful but I ended up with an A- which is worth it. No tests, just quizzes. He is very intelligent. People don't like him bc they do bad bc they dont go to class. Go to class! I learned a lot. He wrote his own textbook which is awesome. Do the questions in the text and ask questions in class. Final not too bad. fair
Whew...I got an B+ for my grade. I work my ass off in this course, but it was far more interesting than I thought it would be. The man knows his stuf! If you go to class and stop by his office for help, AND READ, you can do well. His is funny too.
I have to say, the first couple of weeks, I was NOT into this call at all. I even stopped going for a while. But I went to one and he was talking about something that related to todays world. After that, I started going to every class and foudn it very interesting. Must do readings and answer questions. He knows his stuff. Fair grader too.
Good teacher, interested that we understand, tells great stories.
Funny guy and a great teacher; he is realy concerned that we learn the stuff and goes over material as much as necessary. I am impressed by how much this guy knows!
He is one of the most intelligent professors I have had at siena. He wrote the textbook which is helpful because you can write in it and its specific to our class. He is actually hilarious if you listen to his jokes. I wish that he would have told us more about his travels. Go to class, do the readings and ask questions and you should do well.
Worst Teacher i ever had dont listen to anything anyone is saying guy is the worst. He is a hard grader puts you to sleep and you never have the correct answer for this guy. I mean the guy is a genious dont get me wrong. But if you want to know the worst teacher i had in the three years ive had heer its him. So ah yeah if you can get out now!!!!!!
I survived! I got a B. I worked my ass off in that class, but I think I really learned a lot. The guy knows everything and has a grreat sense of humor. He is a tough grade but sets a high standard. I learned I could do a lot more than I thought I could. I plan on taking more from him.
A lot of work; he expects a lot and lets you know when you don't do it. But his quizes and exams are fare. You know exactly what kinds of questions will be one them. I did the questions in the book and saw him a couple times in his office. He was helpful. I did well in the class. Sick sense of humor. You got to work but I think I learned a lot!
Wow, the last guy and I had different teachers. I studied like hell wrote all the questions out and learned more than I have in most of my class at Siena in 3 years. He knows his stuff and can relate it to things I didn't even know about. If you want a lazy A go elsewhere, but I learned a****load from him. You got to ask questions in class--he lik
YES! I just took his final. I had been worried about it, but it was a charm---I aced it. Everything he warned about was there. He even used most of a sample test on our final. I think I got a A in his course. It wasn't as bad as people said and I actually learned a lot from the guy. His classes were alright if you liked his wierd humor. He knows a
Choosing to take this class with Prof. **** was the worst possible decision I made in my entire life. He basically expects you to know every little thing about the Old Testament before you enter in the class. He's never clear with what he expects on his quizes and tests. He doesn't accept your opinions about ANYTHING. Don't take his class!!
Got a B+ for the course. THere was a lot of work that he expects, but makes tests and quizes easy, since you know exactly what is to be on them. He really wants you to read carefully, something I was not used to. But he answered questions I had in class and in his office. I learned a lot. If you do the work, you'll be alright. He's funny as hell.
I wasn't interested in the Bible before this class, but he changed that. He knows so damned much it can be a bit intimidating, but he really takes care to deal with our questions and go as slow as he needs to. Great Prof!
Very good teacher. He certainly knows his stuff---more than any prof I have had so far art Siena (Junior). Weird humor. Makes you work and demands a lot. You have to be very careful how you answer his questions. He wrote the textbook!
DO NOT TAKE HIM!! His class is extremely hard. He expects you to know everything about the bible before entering his class, which was not a requirement in taking it. It is unclear of what he wants in his assignments and the readings he gives you are SO hard. Seriously, I would only say if you are a religion major to take him.
This is the worst professor I have ever taken. We didn't even start talking about the Bible until a month in. He's really intelligent, but he doesn't answer questions clearly. The papers he assigns have a ridiculous format. You need a lot of self control and flexibility to stay in his class.
I honestly cannot believe this man has any good reviews. I thought the class would be interesting but we didn't even start the bible until October. He is extremely rude if you e-mail for help, requires a ridiculous format for his essays and his tests are almost impossible. NEVER take this man's class. He's so full of himself.
I had heard so many bad things about this guy. First I haven't had many profs who knew more than he does. He also helped my writing by givin me good feedback. I came to his office for help several times; he helped me each time. If you really want to learn stuff, take him. He wants us to ask questions in class.
When looking to take a religion course take this teacher as a last resort. He is a very tough grader especially on essays. He is nice guy but, I recommend trying to get in any other class except his.
Nice teacher and he tries to help but not that helpful. Go into the class if you do not like following your own opinions because he is like this.
Nice guy but horrible teacher, I dreaded going to class and I love the bible.
I had Dr. Dick for tutorial Hebrew. He had to miss a couple weeks, so we lost some time, but his teaching was really beneficial. We didn't necessarily agree about everything, but he's not argumentative or confrontational. Overall, a good professor.
Absolute worst teacher I've ever had. None of his assignments make any sense, his tests literally have nothing to do with the course material, and he's extremely unhelpful when you try to approach him or ask for help. Understanding his assignments were by far the most stressful experiences of my life; and my parents divorced when I was 5.
If your writing does not exactly mirror his preference you will inevitablY receive mediocre grades despite your best efforts. His quizzes are irrelevant and unfair. His corrections to your papers are essentially insults. He physically cannot answer questions. His assignments are painfully unclear. Open book tests arent bad. Take someone else!
He is very bright and expects a lot, but he will take time to explain things if you ask questions. He really helped me on my essay when I stoped by his office. He is really strict on grammar, but that will help me in my major (business). He has a weird sense of humor.
