Listen up people, was this class supposed to be easy? Prof. Dorneman wants his students to learn, and the best way to do that is to encourage his students to think things through. He provided the tools, and we provided the brains. Any questions people? Shake your head! I actually ended up enjoying an otherwise awful experience. Good teacher!

I loved this class. Professor Dorneman really wants you to learn and he challanges you.So if you are lazy then you will hate his class.He gave me a really hard time in class but it is because he saw my polential even if I don't. In the end I was the on who benefited and changed my major to chemistry.

I had Dorneman for intro to Chem after FAILING Chemistry in High School. No, he is not "easy" but what science class really is? If you go to class, take notes, and actually do the homework you will be fine. He made me believe that in a different life I could have been a scientst.

Prof Dorneman is a great guy. He presents the material clearly and is willing to answer any questions, until the concept is understood. The labs are a little difficult but all in all it was a good class and prof Dorneman is a good professor.

Prof. Dorneman was very helpful and always available for extra help if needed.

He is a very good professor. He is very clear and will answer your questions. He is corny but if you have to play along and it will make class a little more easy. If you expect to learn things then take this class. Just show up and the labs are very easy, he walks you through everything. Also every lecture he goes over the study questions.Good Prof

I took the second semester of chem at a state school and thanks to this guy being brutal I was more than prepared. He will teach you chemistry at a level you need in order to succeed in higher education. Savage yet tender.

Great Professor, made me love chemistry! Good old-fashioned chemistry teacher. Fascinating class, tough exams but if you study, you'll do well. Wish there more teachers like him @ Mercer. One of those science teachers who really inspire.

He truly is a great teacher. i hated chemistry before i had this class. the class is hard and you have to keep up with all the work, but if you do what your supposed to and study you will be fine.

Prof. Dorneman doesn't hand out a passing grade, you have to earn it. He gives out homework that he rarely checks for completion but that is what will make you pass this class, doing the homework, practicing, and studying for the exams.

I love his class, it was so much fun with lab, and he explain everything very clear, lot of bonus, so they are your chance, the study questions are very helpful. If you do it like me, you sure will get an A on his class. Best teacher ever, he's funny also. I'd take class with him again.

This guy might crack a few inside jokes during class, but he is very good at interacting with the class and helping you to learn the material. I'm not saying you won't have to do some work, but if you do the homework you should have no problem. If you actually want to learn the stuff, I would definitely recommend him as a teacher!

He has an interactive approach that keeps things interesting and is willing to take time after class.If you actually want to learn Chemistry I highly recommend this teacher!

If you need to LEARN Chemistry, this is the guy to teach it to you. He is super nice, and genuinely cares about each of his students.I had zero interest in Chem until he taught it. DO THE HOMEWORK. It's a lot of work, but if you truly do it, you'll be great on tests. Most rewarding course I've taken so far.

I had Prof Dorneman 18 years ago , and couldn't stand him or the class. Now, completely different story. He is the most wonderful science teacher I have ever had. Like others have said, he makes YOU responsible for your grade. As long as you do what he instructs, and you LISTEN to his lectures, you will be fine.

i would have to say that he can teach and he knows his stuff. as for being an understanding person... not so much. the hw is helpful but he has no human compassion and is hard when it comes to showing up for class. i would never take another clss with him. Ever.

hes a really good teacher but he moves fast and isn't leanant on grading. he bases it off points. he doesn't give much extra credit and do well on tests. he sure does know chemistry though!

Professor Dorneman is a very good professor and an all around nice guy. I highly recommend him if you want to learn and are willing to do alittle work.

Amazing teacher, very funny, very intelligent and well-informed, gives a lot of extra credit, a lot of labs and some home projects but not much writing, follow his directions to the letter and you'll be fine.

I didn't retake algebra but if I had it would have helped - definitely had to put in more hours because of it. He starts as a bit of a hard-ass then really warms, especially after withdrawal period. If you put the work in he is very supportive. Do the bonus lab points and EOC. Had Alfare as a sub 1 class, made the entire class love Dorneman.

Prof. Dorneman is a wonderful professor! He is so nice , and he likes to help student. But if you take his class, you had better do his homework and study! Chemistry 101 is not a easy class if you don't study!

He's a good professor, he tries his best that everyone understand the lessons, if not he'll explain it. The tests and quizzes are easy if you study and he uses some homework questions as quiz questions and test questions.

Professor Dorneman is a great professor who doesn't get enough credit. His class was extremely easy. Tests & Labs were extremely straight-forward. As long as you have somewhat of a brain, it's an easy A.

The problem is that I'm sure when he decided to become a teacher he really tried to make the world a better place and be a professor who makes a difference. Unfortunately, over the years he's had to deal with obnoxious college kids and it may have broken his spirit. He has surprising moments of caring and compassion that make his class worthwhile

If you show up, pay attention in class, and do the homework you shouldn't have any trouble in Prof. Dorneman's class. Dorneman is willing to answer any questions, and wants all his students to do well in his class.

At first I wasn't sure if I wanted to take Chem 101 with him due to all the negative remarks about him. I can honestly say I enjoyed his class. He makes jokes along with the students. He's strict but doesn't grade too harsh. I advise you to do the homework to understand because lecture is very fast paced. Do the online homework its extra credit.

Excellent professor

Professor Dorneman is really a good professor. Whatever he teaches in the class is on test and especially the homework questions are similar to test questions. I suggest to do all the homework and study course manual for quizzes and u will be fine. He is not a tough grader as long as u do what he says you will get an A.

He is lively, passionate, and hilarious. Lectures are nothing but enjoyable and I don't even like chemistry. If you do your assigned work and ask your questions you will pass with ease. Very kind; more than willing to help. His explanations and lectures are incredibly thorough which has helped me so much. I highly recommend taking his classes.

I'm not sure where the negative feedback comes from, he's inspired me to seek him out for future chemistry classes. Here's the rub: you need to come to his classes prepared! Have notes on what you didn't understand. Show that you took initiative by reading the material and doing the homework. Don't waste his time, and he won't waste yours. Show up.

He might look that he is a hard grader and he teaches so fast but if you in his office hours he is more than happy to help you and he will make sure that you understood the topic. You gotta do the homework. :)

Dorneman is fantastic. Clear instructions to succeed in his class are: read the directions and do the assigned work. There's plenty of it, but if you do those two things you will do well. Very strict and specific, but good sense of humor. Teaches chemistry how it ought to be taught.

amazing teacher who knows his stuff, he makes you work for your grade. Do not walk in his class thinking its an easy A. He is extremely helpful all you have to do is ask. I was terrified to take chemistry but somehow this man made it fun, interesting, and easy to understand. He loves chemistry and you can see the way he lights up when he teaches.

He gives a lot of homework that he doesn't always collect, but it will help in the long run for understanding and learning. Lectures are faced paced and doesn't post notes and not really good at answering emails. Helps students, but sometimes doesn't explain things well.

After taking CHEM with Prof. Dorneman I have come to love CHEM. Attendance is important, he gives a lot of quizzes so you can use your best 10 scores. DO YOUR HOMEWORK & ask questions on whatever you don't understand you should do fine! He makes the class fun and tolerable with his jokes. He also gives extra credit. Good professor in my opinion.

This professor is kind and he makes this class enjoyable. Follow your study guide and you'll be fine. He's available to help you if you need him and is encouraging. He keeps a professional relationship with students and made me feel respected. I recommend this professor. His jokes are funny very. He includes everyone. Right? Shake your head guys?

I liked him, but I really wish he would use blackboard. His lectures are pretty good, he tries to be funny during them which is hit or miss but I mostly found charming. He really does care about you understanding the material, and he gave us all multiple choice exams which was great, but I just deeply want him to actually use blackboard.

Prof. Dorneman made chemistry approachable, interesting, and this class was a lot of fun. If you show effort in your work and in class you will do well and will enjoy it. I found Prof. Dorneman funny, he also is caring and considerate of his students. 350 words is not enough for me to share how much I enjoyed him and the class. Highly recommend.

Prof. Dorneman has a great sense of humor and always tries to make the class enjoyable. workload isn't too bad if you attend class, pay attention, and complete the homework. He grades fairly and genuinely cares about his students understanding the material. Your final grade comes from quizzes, exams, and homework, so you NEED to show up to class!
