Professor Elliot has his flaws, like he learns no ones name. But he also is very involve you in Sociology which is awesome, his examples and explanations are spot on, you have a bunch of readings but, he'll discuss them. A lot are very cool. Videos in class and discussions. Very cool class!
If you?re like me and had to take this class for your major take this teacher. The only bad part was that you had to go to class. Elliot was funny and laid back. He made the class go by fast and made sociology more interesting than I thought. It was still pretty boring though. We watched fight club and office space in class so that kinda shows his
Elliott is cool. He's very laid back. He gives you a lot to read and sometimes you will have no idea what's going on in them but he explains everything in class the next day. He does take roll but I don't think it's mandatory. If you show up for class, take notes and study for the exam, you'll do fine. The time sucks but it goes by really fast.
Pretty dull guy. Doesn't make the effort to reach out to people, very much. Not a completely boring class, though. Made me think differently about people and the world. Pretty easy class. Still, time goes by slow.
Nice guy.Gives you readings but he goes over them in class. I stopped reading the material after the a couple weeks in the class and got A's on the test. Go to class and take notes for the tests. Its an easy class...I recommend it.
Great professor to take over the other professor who teaches this course. His class is a breeze. Not necessary to do the reading. Just show up to every class, write down everything he does on the board, and complete the study guide before exam time and you'll get a guaranteed A. People Failed some exams, not sure why though, really.
ELLIOT IS THE BEST. DON'T HESITATE TO TAKE HIM FOR SOCIOLOGY! class was easy, fun and laid back. take notes and you got an A
The reading is confusing, but he explains everything very thoroughly in class. It amazes me the way he gets so many people to participate and inspires great discussions. He makes this class fairly interesting! Take him!
This teacher was one of my favorites this year. He makes a lot of jokes and makes the class fun. everything you need to know he goes over in class. he gives u a study guide and if you like skim the readings you will do excellent. I got an A on every test and barely went to class the last month. I would highly recommend this class to anyone!
Ha! You guys think Professor Elliot is HOT!Theory was was not fun but if you read or go over the articles before class starts or to know what he's going to be talking about, you'll be ok. Key to this class are the notes. Tests are based on them and he's nice enouhg to give a study guide. you'll fail if you don't to class and ask questions.
Such a cool guy! Class is sooo easy. All you have to do is take notes that he writes on the board and do study guide. There are readings but you don't really have to do them because he explains them the next class. Two easy tests and a Final.
Eliot is the best!! I had him second semester freshmen year and so far he is my favorite teacher at Towson. He just passes around a sheet for attendance and other people can sign you in if you skip class (but you have to take notes so i wouldn't suggest doing that). He's pretty laid back and makes the class interesting.
PROF ELLIOTT IS THE BEST! his class was so easy! You have readings, but he explains them in class and writes the notes on the board. I gave up reading after 2nd week of school and got an A on every exam. only 3 exams including the final which was not cumulative! no pop quizzes or papers. just come to class, listen, take notes and guaranteed A!
Elliott is great! I loved his class, listen to his lectures and take notes and you will pass the 3 tests in the class. Whatever he says in class is important and he even brings his cute little son to class sometimes! Take him!!
great professor, made class interesting! most people who didnt studied got a B on exams. I got an A because I studied and asked questions.
He's a great teacher! Exams are straight off the notes, got an A in every exam. Sign in sheet everyday. Has very interesting lectures, promise you won't get bored at all! Readings are a must to do well in the class, but are very easy. If you don't get the readings, he will definitely explain in class. MUST TAKE HIM! You won't be disappointed.
Elliot is a nice guy, very patient and appreciates what everyone has to say. Easy class, reading isn't so necessary. Take this class, interesting and lax.
SOOO easy, teacher is hot funny and interesting, just come to class and take notes, tests are a jokeee
He is a great teacher! Class was actually interesting (in my opinion, anyway). He does give pop quizzes on readings, but they're usually two questions. So, just keep up on readings. Takes attendance, so be there. Tests are straightfwd, and even gives studyguides! Funny and sometimes sarcastic! Greattttt Teacher, great class!
Great guy, very fun and won't put you to sleep. Class is a good way to get an easy a, and quizzes are usually two questions, fill in the blank one word quizzes.
He's an awesome professor! Very fun and keeps things interesting. The material isn't hard at all, just keep up on the readings.
I took him for sociological theory and he was awesome! Great class and professor, gives you study guides which really help for the exam. Definitely wants all of his students to do well and understand the material.
Take this class for a gen-ed. He's a really nice guy. The class can be boring.. but if you put in just a little bit of effort you will get an A. Pop quizzes that are 2 questions and extremely easy. Tests are easy. You watch movies and the assignments are a breeze.
The easiest class you could take at college. Skim over the readings, show up and take notes. I've studied 30 mins for each exam and I got a high A in the class. The class is alittle boring sometimes but can also be interesting other times. Easy Gen Ed!
So easy.. take it for an easy A gen ed. He allows for two absences but he almost always lets out early from class and class is always pretty interesting. Take him!!
Easy A. He writes everything you need to know on the board. Lectures are interesting for the most part, but can be boring at times. Tests are a piece of cake and pop quizzes are simple if you take the time to even read the title of your assigned reading. Assignments are easy as well. Easiest class I've had in college.
Great prof. It was not that easy for me but he taught the information well. You really have to know the theories for this class.
Great and interesting professor. He gives clear lectures some may be boring but as long as you take notes you will do well. Dont buy the book. 3 tests & paper. Paper is 10 pages which I was worried about but ended up recieving an A He takes attendence but it didnt affect my final grade. I would reccommend him, taking him for theories next sem.
Great Professor. He is not easy but you will learn a lot. Go to class and do the readings
One of the best teachers I've had. Super nice, personable, young, hot, and explains concepts so easily. Have to keep up on your readings because quizzes come from them, but they aren't hard. Definitely easy A and a great professor!
You need to think critically for this class. It is an upper level because you should be well educated in the field by now. If you have to take theories, SAVE yourself and take it with Elliot. The exams are intense and you have to study or you will fail. Other than that he is incredible. Takes incredibly dense theories and makes them crystal clear
Nicest guy you'll ever meet. He's very laid back and makes the class something you don't want to miss, take him even if you don't have to.
Awesome class. Professor Elliot is very kind, funny and helpful. He is clear with his lectures and gives fun and informational hw assingments. Exams are pretty easy.
Write down everything he puts on the board and then some. 3 critical thinking papers, 4 pages each. 3 exams that are all essay. To get a good grade stick to the terminology that he uses for the exams. Dont try to interpret your own understanding of the concepts he'll take points off. Get a study group together before all exams it REALLY helps.
Such an easy class. Readings are usually interesting. Class is easy to understand. Just show up and write down whatever he puts on the board. Can be a little boring at some points but easy A overall
Prof. Elliot is awesome. Some of his readings are a little long but always interesting. The essays he assigns are so easy. Just write down everything he puts on the board and don't be late for class. Overall, he's pretty laid back and a great teacher to have.
Professor Elliot is the man. Easily one of the best professors i have had at college. Attendance is mandatory, but this wont be a big burden. His teaching style definitely makes you want to come to class. If you need to take a sociology course, take him. you will not regret it.
Extremely easy! 3 group projects with 2-3 page paper to go along with which can really be done on your own. Pop quizes every once in awhile on readings or stuff taught the class before - 2 fill in the blank questions. if you pay attention in class and read most of the readings you should do fine.
I am so thankful that I got Professor Elliott for sociology. His class was definitely very interesting and he made sociology enjoyable. The tests weren't hard as long as you wrote down everything on the board and the essays were equally as easy. He's strict about attendance though, but his class isn't that boring.
Professor Elliot is an easy teacher. Readings almost every night but he goes over them in class and gives notes. No tests just a couple 2 question fill in the blank pop quizzes. Midterm was okay, final isn't cumulative. A couple group assignments throughout the semester. Chill class
You are crazy if you take sociology with any other teacher but Professor Eliott. He is one of the best teachers I have ever had. Everything you learn about in this class is so relatable and interesting. Even though I am not a sociology major, I still really enjoyed this class and can honestly say it is one of the best classes I have ever taken.
Started off class by reading everything, which was super helpful. Learned that to do well on exams (3 total) just write down everything he sayswrites on the board, study that material, and you'll be good. Readings can be long, but you can skim. Seems like an easy grader. Just do all the papers and study. Really nice Prof and has good personality.
Prof. Elliot is one of those profs that feeds off of his students. He seems stiff at first but becomes more involved once he sees that you as a class are more involved. If you participate he will do the same. Tests aren't bad as long as you are a master note-taker in lecture. Not many assignments so missing one messes your grade (hence my C)
This class was an easy A. Elliot is pretty opinionated so take note of what he wants to hear. As long as you write exactly-and I mean EXACTLY- what he says in class on an exam then you should get an A. I've used what I learned in this class to make my way through scholarship essays so some things learned can be applied outside the classroom.
I absolutely love Elliot. He manages to turn a potentially very boring class into an interesting one. His readings are kind of long, but you can skim, and they are really interesting. Write down everything he puts on the board, seriously!! 3 essay tests, 3 four page papers & some article summaries. Seems stiff at first but opens up!
Very interesting and knowledgeable professor who really loves teaching the material. He teaches by having interactive discussions that really make you think about what is being taught. Easy class, almost no homework with a few readings here and there. The main grades in this class are 3 group projects and a midterm/final.
This professor is really nice and he is there for his students. The class is mostly discussion. Copy everything he writes on the board, it's useful when studying for midterm/final. Reading almost every night but it's not bad. You can skim it. You'll have 3 short papers, midterm, and final. He takes attendance.
Awesome professor. Looks like Benedict Cumberbatch. He always stays after class to answer any questions you may have. Readings can be skimmed; quizzes are like 3 questions each. Make sure you copy down EVERYTHING on the board; word-for-word is helpful. He doesn't write fast at all, so not hard. This is essential for midterm and final study guides.
Loved Dr. ELLIOT. He writes his lecture on the white board so that you don't miss anything. Quizzes are easy and based on the reading. Test are only the midterm and final and are multiple choice, true/false, and matching. He is also funny and sarcastic and makes the class fun/interesting. TAKE HIS CLASS, IT'S WILL BE A BLAST!
Easy-going and funny and his assignments are not too tough. Although he is more on the tougher side with grading, as long as you answer the question he wants you to and have proper grammar you should pass with a solid A/B. His lectures are engaging and his midterm and final are straight off the notes which he writes down on the board. A must take!
Easy easy easy tests, do the study guides and you will get an A. He makes the notes so easy. @ Exams, 3 papers all easy. Best teacher ever. Looked forward to going to his class.
Professor Elliott is amazing. He makes sociology interesting and uses plenty of examples. He's funny, always in a good mood, and very helpful. He assigns readings to discuss in each class and lectures are much better when everyone reads them. Tests are a little hard, but he is very helpful and answers any questions.
Honors Sociology was a very clear cut class. Assigns 3 papers (each 4 pages long) with a clear criteria and three exams. He gives a study guide for each exam and the exams are each essay based (usually 5 options, choose 4 and write one page). Class was super interesting and makes you think about society in a new way.
He is very relaxed and wants his students to pass the class. He gives few pop quizzes and some readings but overall, it is not a large course load. If you show up, participate, and study for easy midterms and finals, you will pass.
Really, really easy class. Although everyone seems to like him, I found there to be something a little off about him. His class can be boring at times and he takes attendance every class. The tests and papers are a joke, they are really that easy. If you want an easy A take this class.
Dr. Elliot's lectures are very easy to understand and the tests are straight from the notes, so as long as you show up and do the readings it's an easy A. He's really friendly and funny, too.
LOVED him during soc 102. His honors globalization class wasn't that great, though. I love him as a person, but after the globalization class, I'm probably going to hide from him for a while. Just take him for sociology. His soc class is amazing.
He doesn't put the notes from class on blackboard (he writes on the board) so go to class. Read the readings for each class because he talks about them and gives a few pop quizzes throughout the semester. Overall this class was great to be a 101.
be aware, he is the worlds toughest grader! I think even the students who normally get good grades in other classes have trouble in sociology 381. Just make sure on the test you put exactly what he wants on there and you should be fine :/. The article summaries are easy, but he is the toughest grader on the test.
Prof. Elliot is very knowledgeable! 6 pop quizzes but he drops the lowest one. Need the books because there are readings each night. 3 paper assignments that are 3 pages each. A midterm and a final which is only multiple choice. Take this class if you want an easy A.
Professor Elliot is an amazing lecturer. He cracks jokes here and there. If the class participates as expected, you will try enjoy the class. Sometimes I fall asleep because it was boring but most of the time, I was awake.
He's a great professor. Be sure to go to class and take notes. He takes attendance everyday so be sure to show up. He's very relaxed and laid back. Gives good feedback on essays. A big part of this class is the final essay so put effort into the drafts.
You do not really need to buy the books cause he literally reads off of them the next day in class during his lectures. He gives pop quizzes that are one answer fill in the blank and drops the lowest grade. 2 Tests, all multiple choice. 3 written assignments that are simple. Literally, you cannot fail this class.
This class is an easy A if you do the readings and come to class. Professor Elliot is nice. His lectures are a little scattered and you aren't allowed to have electronics out. However, the main points that show up on exams will be repeated a lot and emphasized. The class is based a lot around discussion. It's an interesting class but can be boring.
3 things: Show up, skim the readings (he give 6 pop quizzes over the course of the semester from the readings which are really easy but he drops the lowest one), and write down everything he puts on the board. The class is pretty interesting but an easy A too. Definitely recommend if you need to take an intro to sociology class.
I don't know why this guy has so many good ratings. I've written a bad one about him before and it got deleted (hm suspicious). Yes, this class can be an easy A if you do all the readings and show up to class but just because you do that doesn't mean you will do well. He is boring and arrogant. Doesn't offer any help and doesn't seem to care.
He was willing to explain things and share feedback, writes notes on the board, discussion questions for reading. Debates are annoying. The final paper is okay, you get to choose whatever topic you want but not a lot of structure. Tons of reading, but not a bad Honors class, and Elliott is really nice and knows what he's talking about.
I took this class as an elective, and I'm so happy that I did. Prof Elliot's lectures are so engaging, he's funny, and he loves hearing the experiences/opinions from the students during class. Easy pop quizzes if you skim the readings, 3 short reflection papers, and a midterm and final. Show up to class, pay attention, and it's an easy A!!
Attendance is mandatory and there are pop quizzes, they are easy. There are 3, 3-page papers easy. 1 midterm and a final. Notes are written on the board.
Amazing lectures, lectures have to do with the readings which aren't challenging. Textbooks needed. 3 papers, 6 pop quizes, 2 tests, and attendance.. that's it. Prof. Elliott is very funny, and keeps class interesting.
Professor Elliot is super genuine and caring about his work and students. He is very good at creating productive discussions for the class but make sure you are prepared! I learned so much about real-world issues in this course under his guidance and looked forward to class every time we met. The readings are interesting so take advantage!
Professor Elliott was such a caring and understanding teacher! He made every lecture come to life and made people actually want to participate in class. There are a few pop quizzes but they are very straightforward and about two questions each test. If you have any concerns with your grade he will be very helpful and try to solve the issue at hand!
Professor Elliot is an amazing professor!! His lectures are fun and participation matters but you will want to participate. There are six pop quizzes throughout the semester but easy enough if you read the texts, which are actually interesting. This class is extremely engaging. There are also three short papers throughout the semester.
He's amazing! He is not a hard grader and is vey understanding. He does take attendance and doesn't use powerpoints because he handwrites everything on the white board but it doesn't make the class any harder at all. Pop quizzes but they're super easy and common sense if you just skim the readings before class.
By far the worst professor I have had at Towson, I took his 101 class thinking it would be an easy A already having a rigorous course schedule. I was completely wrong if you miss a class you have to rely on your peers for help who are little to none and his feedback on assignment are vague. He is not a reasonable and comes off as a smart aleck.
Loved Prof Elliot! Fav class of the semester. He made the class enjoyable and related it to the real world. He was very understanding. Not a tough grader. Consists of 3 papers (2-3pages), 2 discussion forms, midterm, & final. Study guides are good and everything that is assigned is directly what is talked about in lecture. 100% recommend! Got an A!
lectures were interesting, some assignments were graded more harsh than others, fun class to take and study guides were provided for tests, 3 papers, a mid term, and final, and 2 discussion boards
This is a great professor to take! He helped guide the conversation in this discussion-based class and made it less awkward. I thought this class would be boring but he made it very interesting. He gives amazing feedback on assignments, and we worked on our final paper throughout the semester, which made it less stressful.
He's a really great professor and it was a super interesting class. The whole class is designed to help you write a research paper in parts.
Prof. Elliot was nice, expect some participation and lots of reading. He wrote notes on the board and so it was easy to understand his lectures. Smart guy and quite personable, even through an online course. There was at least one reading a week that was sometimes dense (and usually a class discussion and notes to follow).
Very easy class thats based on 3 papers, midterm and final. Super easy grader on the papers as long as you fill the requirements. As long as you show up to class the final and midterm should be easy.
This is not the easiest A. Does not allow any technology so if you take notes on an iPad or computer you are screwed. Minimal use of blackboard, if you miss a class you have to rely on your peers for help who are little to none and feedback on assignment are vague. If you show up everyday and do the readings this class might be for you. POP Quizzes
I took Professor Elliot fall of 21, and he was a great lecturer but you will read throughout the entire semester. Stay active in participation and you can easily do well! He is great at getting back to emails too! I had a blast with Elliot.
Bro is funny and knows how to keep a class engaged. No technology but its okay it was still fun. 10/10 would take again
Prof. Elliot is the best professor I have ever had. Taking any theory class is normally a drag, but he is very passionate and engaging. He gives extensive notes as he lectures which will guarantee your understanding and a good grade on the exams. He is available to help you if you need it, and is respectful towards his students. Highly recommend!
I had him for honors tsem. The homework is very easy (worksheets) and he grades our papers very fair. He is probably the best professor to take for this course. He is funny, chill, and understandable. He makes the classroom environment a safe and comfortable space to come to him or anything.
Professor Elliot is one of the best professors I've ever had. He is amazing and cares about everyone passing. He gives amazing feedback also. Our class was discussion based and we had 2 projects and 1 large paper like a usual TSEM class. He broke up the paper into parts so it was so much easier for us to complete and each part he helped on. 10/10.
Elliot is a great professor! He's caring and very intelligent, really makes the class think. There are readings every week but they usually arent that long. A midterm, a final, discussion posts, and pop quizzes make up his grading. He is also pretty discussion based during class but won't make you speak if you dont want to. Take him!!!
He's a really good professor. A midterm, final, discussion posts, and 6 pop quizzes, but drops your worst one. He doesn't allow notes to be taken electronically, only in a notebook. He gives you study guides for midterm and final and they are all multiple choice. Lectures are interesting, but make sure you read. Pop quizzes were easy. TAKE HIM!!!
I am a pre-nursing major who needed to take sociology for a core and nursing school. Was worried about the concept of sociology but professor Elliot truly makes lecture interesting and you learn a ton about society that makes a lot of sense. Lot's of reading and there is 6 pop quizzes, 3 assignments, a midterm and final. 2 books to buy. He's great!
Professor Elliot makes class interesting. He does have a no-technology policy and there is 6 pop quizzes but he kind of always tell you when they are. The midterm and the Final he has study guides posted and he gives all the answers in class as long as you show up and participate you will be graded favorably !
Very kind and thoughtful, made lectures fun and was easy to talk to in and out of class. He cares a lot for his students and his feedback on essays is helpful. Class is only 100 points, however most of the assignments are easy 100%'s as long as your do your work. Attendence matters and class is heavily dependent on discussions.
Elliot is a fantastic professor. Very easy-going and approachable, and a fair grader. Class was discussion-based but he makes the topics accessible and easy get involved in. Attendance/participation required and is easy points along with some tasks graded on completion. Final is a 10+ page paper done in parts with feedback throughout the semester.
Professor Elliot makes the class engaging, though there's a no-tech policy and pop quizzes. With the study guides and participation, it's manageable. unstuck study was a lifesaver for prep!
I love Michael Elliott. He cares about his students so much and is incredibly helpful. His class was discussion based, and he barely lectured. If you can, take his class.
