He is very dedicated to his students, he teaches difficult classes so i appreciate his helfulness and well, he is funny and good looking! My favorite prof!

He was one of my favorite professors and I know for a fact that he cares about his students. LU should make an effort to hire more younger professors like him. Refreshing.

Stats is intimidating for those who don't know math. He eases the stress of going to class. His impressions and jokes keep the class interesting. He does seem to put down students.

Strong ego, that is for sure. However, I managed to get past that and gained a lot from him. If you make an effort in his class, he will help you.

If you show your trying he can be ok, but that only applies if your a guy. Women, especially pretty ones need to be on the watch. He seems to have something against them and treats them like dirt. But like I said, if your a guy you will have no problem

He is too smart to be fooled by beauty so you need some brains. He is a very good Prof. that explains things in a easy to consume manner. His class is easy as long as you keep up with the readings and do sample questions.

i worked really hard in his course and ended up with an amazing mark that will actually bring up the rest of my average. if you are willing to work, he'll bend over backwards to help you through it.

I did all my work, read the textbook, studied well for his exams and I finished his class with a 95. This class is not impossible if you put the effort into it. Understand the basics and you're all set.

Alright here goes...whoever said that dr emond was the worst prof at LU has problems. His lectures are fun and interesting, and he is the most helpful prof at LU. Honestly, if you do your work, there's no reason anyone with brains should get under a 90

it's really a hit and miss situation, he can be kind of moody, a great prof if you can get in and out of classes without him really noticing you were there.

Great prof, clear and drives home the theories and points well. Gets you interested in research aspects of Psychology. Funny and intellegent but dosent come across stuck up. Be prepared to do work, pay attention and keep up with your readings. Over all one of LU better profs.

He is a cool guy, I really enjoy his class. he makes you want to learn but dosent do it for you. dont take the course if you are looking for an easy credit! But if you dont mind some independent thought and work go for you will enjoy it.

Take notes on EVERYTHING that he says and shows on power point and you will pass. Love the class and the prof. Recomend him for Stats too he is clear and easy (if you go to class)

One of my favorite psych profs. Entertaining to listen to in class and seems like an okay guy out of class. Real helpful too. Don't see why other people had a problem with him helping them.

assignments were good, tests were a bit sketchy but the final exam was fair. Just make sure you never need to approach him outside of the classroom. NOTE: he is much friendlier if you ask him questions by e-mail than if you ask him in person

ive had emond for the past 2 years and sometimes i like him, sometimes i dont. Hes the most helpful and fun prof in class, but outside he's a jerk. Sometimes i wonder if he has multiple personality disorder. All in all, i do well in his class because i try, but dont take his class if you arent willing to put forth the effort.

EXCELLENT professor, very helpful and nice!

He's great. Makes class interesting, has a good sense of humour (reminds of me Jon Stewart). His classes aren't easy but they aren't ridiculous either. Just read your text, take notes, study and you're fine. He CAN be hard to speak to one on one if you're looking for answers, but otherwise he's great to talk to.

I'm kind of unsure about this teacher. At first I really respected him. His lectures are funny, interesting, and very clear. However, he does single out students and embarrass them. If you can handle that sort of thing I would recommend taking stats with him.

People can talk a lot of garbage about this prof, but he is one of the best prof I've had all year. He's VERY fair, it's people who are lazy that do bad. If you put a bit of effort there is no reason you should get less than like a 75 or 80. He doesn't pick on anyone but you just have to get over feeling scared, he's the nicest person you'll meet.

Can be intimidating and scary but, if you are a hard working serious student, he is willing to help you out. He doesn't come across as someone who puts up with slackers and stupidity. I think that Dr Emond is a great prof!!!

Dr. Emond was clear and understandable. He even gives you the week before the assignment is due to hand it in a get help(how many would do that).

Dr. Emond is very fair. He expects students to take responsibility for their work. If you put an effort into his course, you'll get a good grade. This guy can really teach. Can sometimes be difficult to approach outside class, but if you have a clear question, he'll usually answer.

Great teaching methods. Definately arrogent. Don't even think of approaching him outside of class unless you have to. Very sarcastic.. I love sarcasm but only when it's not being directed at me. Don't ask stupid questions in class and you'll do fine.

He's a great prof. He's a comedian and frequently uses his humorous side to teach, which makes learning more fun and interesting. Some say that he is unapproachable but thats not true & I don't think he pick favorites.He was always nice to me and I got a C. I just think he expects his students to work hard to learn everything he teaches,that's all.

He's hot, he's funny, and knows how to teach. He's also always there to answer your questions, just don't be afraid of him. Remember, we pay him to teach us. He's not a king or even a prince, he's a university professor and a damn good one.

I shouldn't comment but after looking at the other comments I have to say, he's not that bad. He can be funny or rather silly. He expects his students to actually learn what hes teaching which is shown through the assignments and tests he gives, isn't that what university is all about, leanring. He's a great prof.There's no doubt about that.

I don't undersand why people think he is unapproachable, he tells you on the first day of class that he is a busy guy and you need to e-mail him to make an appt. He clear and tells you what you need to know to get a good grade. If you are willing to put forth the effor there is no reason why you should not get a good grade!!

I was disapointed in how rude and annoyed this professor was when questions were asked. He knows his information, but he has weak teaching skills. He also grades hard, so don't hope to get a great mark from him.

Dr Emond, is a really nice prof.....he just has high standards that he would like for his students to follow. He's very approachable, he's funny and he tries his best to help his students. He's human just like anyone of us, therefore he's not always going to be right or perfect. Keep staying positive....your a great guy!!!:)

I think he is a good teacher. Can be helpful. He's funny and good at explaing the concepts he teaches. Not as bad as others say. Doesn't put up with procrasination and assumes if your there, you are there to learn. As it should be!!!

Had him for History of Psyc and Thesis and he is an incredible Prof. He is very knowledgeable and is very clear with what he wants. A good grade is possible as long as you work for it, and really, it feels way to better to earn a good grade than fall into one. He is definitely helpful if you approach him. Overall AMAZING, readily recommended!

Dr. Emond is a great prof! His professionalism is incredible, many prof's at Laurentian should take note at his teaching style. His very encouraging, lectures are interesting and he hates procrastination. Text book was highly utilized & he prepares you very well for grad schools. I highly recommend him for all other subjects @ LU.

i've taken every class possible of his, and take classes just because he's teaching them. He's an amazing teacher, who will help you if you need come forth to ask him directly. He's a really hard marker, and his tests really make you need to study. he does make random comments, but also tells some hilarious stories !

Dr. Emond has difficult tests but he actually makes you learn things.. which is why you are in university is it not? If you go to class, take notes and read the text there is no reason you can't get 100% on his tests- I did. He is funny as hell and extremely helpful. It's a lot of work but that's why we are here!

Good Prof. has bad reviews but that is because he does not give away marks. Very clear in his lectures and what he expects on exams. Do not take his class if you are looking for an easy high grade, but do take his class if you are looking to learn the material.

Great proff. Took physiological psych and learned a ton. The course is hard and a lot of work, but good marks can be achieved. You will learn more in this class if you make the effort than any others you have taken guaranteed.

good prof, explains concepts well. however very arrogant and thinks that he's God's gift to psychology. his weekly quizzes are annoying. still, overall, his teaching method is effective and i came out with a 75%. I would recommend him

I actually really enjoyed his teaching, he's a comedian and I enjoyed his arrogance he made it easy to learn and was funny. He does mark harder so just know your material. I may have a small crush on him now haha

Dr. Emond tells you how he would like stuff done, and if you do it the way he asked you will be golden. His classes are very interesting and anyone has to admit he's pretty funny. His tests are hard but he doesn't put anything on that wasn't taught in class. Ill definitely be taking classes with him next year! (I think I may have a small crush lol)

Great professor. Knows the material and is able to ensure that students understand the material. I've never had any problems with him and he has always helped me immediately when it comes down to assignments. He's funny and keeps us students on our toes! His tests are fair and he inspires you to want to work harder.

REALLY funny prof. He really knows his stuff. Nice guy, it seems like. But try not to ask a dumb question, cause he may make you feel kinda dumb. But he's absolutely HILARIOUS. He stuck his booty out for us... to imitate a peacock trying to attract a mate.

He's helpful, nice, and clear when you ask him how to do well in the course. However, if you have a legitimate case that you should be given a higher mark, it probably won't happen. Don't get on his bad side, because you won't like it.

I had Dr. Emond for my honours thesis. He provides great examples of what is expected from the course and is very helpful when giving feedback. He will get back to you very quickly and give you very good constructive criticism. Be prepared, show up to class, and participate. Do not wait to the last minute to book meetings with him.

Good professor for if you actually want to learn. Tests are tough but the material is interesting. Though I didn't do too well in the class, I did enjoy it.

He is the best professor I have had so far in regards to being clear in what he wants you to know for tests and exams. Very funny lectures as well. I'd recommend taking one of his classes.

I really enjoyed his class. I learned so much. I took Evolutionary Psych with him and it was very interesting. The only thing I didn't like was that we were graded by few things; a midterm, an essay and an exam worth 50% of our final grade. He's funny and keeps class entertaining but make sure you do the work.

Great Prof. He's a tough grader and you need to know the course material to do well. All material is clearly given in the lectures. For the exam, he even made gave us a review checklist. After learning everything on that checklist, the exam was a piece of cake!! You can go visit him in his office at any time! He is always willing to help!

The second year stats is very difficult and he does not go easy on you, the good thing is... you are forced to learn the material and it will be helpful in the yrs afterward. He adds a lot of humour into his lectures to keep things interesting. Good teacher

Amazing professor, he was extremely understanding of me and answered all of my questions. His grading criteria is clear and if you follow it and study it, I'm sure you'll do well. Although there's a lot of info to process, he grades fairly. I'm definitely taking him again, amazing prof.

I see too many people on here bashing this professor, have some respect. You work for what you get. If you put effort into it, your mark will reflect that. If anyone wants an honest review about Dr. Emond ( yes Dr, for those complaining that you need to call him by what he is, a Dr) gives clear grading criteria, awesome lectures and was great!

He lays it all on the table at the beginning of the semester about grading and assignment expectations. Overall, l received an incredible grade because I did the work and I really enjoyed the material. I had to read the entire text book though to get the grade that I did. Really bad at giving feedback on assignments which sucked but is what it is.

He's entertaining enough to keep you engaged through some dull subjects (if your not a psych student). Don't expect much help outside the classroom, but he's forgiving enough on his grading,

He is generally disliked by first year students who have yet to find out that university is hard work. A general complaint is his "no extensions, no exceptions" mantra but when something is assigned at the beginning of the year there aren't much excuses. If you put the effort into his courses you will come out with incredibly useful information.

While I could definitely see what others are saying about his superiority complex, my experience with Dr Emond has been really positive outside class. He's really responsive to emails and gives in-depth feedback if you show that you're trying to understand the material. Exam and tests were fair, but difficult, definitely study the module q's well!

One of my favorite profs! Has a sarcastic sense of humor, makes a lot of dad jokes. He provides module breakdowns, practice questions AND video lectures to go with each module in the textbook. If you participate actively in his class, and show him that you have a desire to learn and understand the material he will do what he can to help.

to anyone who has concerns about Emond: TAKE HIS CLASSES IN PERSON!! (if you're able to). he's much much much better in person. his lectures are incredibly engaging and he's hilarious

I'm not sure why Dr. Emond has such terrible reviews. It almost scared me into not taking his class but I'm so glad I did decide to take it. He's very thorough, provides videos, PowerPoints and ressources. The exam was worth 50% of my grade but thats not uncommon in my experience and it's an online course so kind of what I expected anyway.
