Great Instructor. Easy to follow, allows you to record classes in order to better understand lecture. Highly recommended.
His lectures on cellular respriation and neural transmission should not be missed. The subject comes back to haunt. He provides a good foundation on both.
This instructor puts out HARD TESTS! If you do well on tests, you will be ok with him. I wouldnt take him unless you are a Bio major, or nursing major. I wouldnt waste your time with him if you are taking the class as an elective
Very hard teacher, but one of the one's I learned the most from. He does not give out a lot of A's, but if you are really into BIO he is my top choice.

Great teacher...enthusiastic and inspiring. He is very helpful, knowledgable, and clear on what his expectations are.Not really easy but if you do what he asks you will do well.
Very good teacher. Probably one of the most enthusiastic teachers I have ever had. His tests were very difficult, but the lecture was so structured and informative that you knew exactly what you needed to study. Study hard and you should get at least a B, and learn a lot.
He appears to beleive that he is one of the best instructors on campus. His lectures are adequate and he is enthusiastic. His still require mainly memorizing his lecture notes. Not a lot of synthesis of information is required by students. As a Bio major, I had hoped for more.
Mr. erbe seems to lack that depth of knowledge that I would expect for an instructor in this course. He is a very dynamic person.
Expect to have your religion attacked in Mr. Erbe's class. He constantly spouts his atheist views. He thinks of himself as being extremely intelligent, but isn't smart enough to realize he falls far short of the mark.
I only had him for lab, not lecture...but he was cool in lab. He explains everything well. Tests are not planned by him, so can't say much. He doesn't believe in ghosts..I don't agree that he has atheist views, but many science majors don't believe in GOD, etc. He is personable and witty...I liked him.
I agree with the comment above. He constantly spouts his atheist views and he thinks of himself as being extremely intelligent.
He expects a lot out of you, gives you lots of information, but HELPFUL information. Study, study, study & you will do fine! :) Very fun class.
Very good teacher.
You religious fools need to suck it up. Erbe is one of the best teachers on campus.
This is a SCIENCE class, not religion. If you wanted to hear about God a religion class would have been the wise choice! Erbe is a great prof who simply states the proven facts of evolution...go ahead and disprove these theories and then criticize this prof -otherwise-deal with it
I had him for lab and he was terrible. He didnt even know what we were suppose to be going over in class. He never taught anything. He just sat at the desk and told us to look at the models.
This class is not easy if you haven't had biology before, but it's because there's a lot of stuff to learn packed into 10 or whatever weeks. Erbe's pretty straight forward, do the questions at the end of the chapter, the ones in the study guide and you'll be fine. He gets his test questions from the book and the online book site.
One of the hardest course i've tooken so far. I would recommend tape recording his lectures. I didn't start recording till later in the class and wished i did. He's very funny and knowledgable of his subject. Favorite Erbe Quotes: "Another slap in the face of Intellengent design", *while doing fly lab* "Looks like i'm going to fly hell."
I absolutely adored this guy!! Great teacher......he is very intelligent and knows his subject very well. I would like to have him for all my bio classes..
Great man, great teacher, and all his spirit goes into helping his students.
Its like Gould and Darwin were reincarnated into one professor, that being Erbe. Always helpful and just so funny. And so cute for an older man. He is strict in class, but is ALWAYS available out of class to help. He favored the women in the class which helped me, but to be fair to him most of the guys in my class were dumb. Take him!
When I enrolled in Professor Erbe's Evolution class, I was extremely impressed with his extensive biological knowledge and how it all correlates with everything from a molecular level to a biosphere level.
All of the Professors in the Biology department should attend this man's lecture, take notes, then attempt to emmulate him in every way.
I have him for lab. He's fantastic! Makes it easy to understand things. Does not talk down to you. He clearly loves his subject, and it comes through in the way he teaches. A++++ teacher. I wish I would have gotten him for lecture!
Tests are all about critical thinking. Pay attention and it's no problem.
Erbe is an ok teacher, but he trys to push his ideas onto the students too much. i will not take any of his classes again.
I absolutely loved Erbe's teaching style! He is extremely fair and up front about what you will be tested on. There is no suprises. It was a joy to be in his class and wish there were more classes that I could take with him!!
I loved professor erbe's class. He always kept you interested in his lectures and he finds ways to relate to his students. His tests are hard but if you study, you will do fine.
I had a B average in biology until I took Erbe for 143. His teaching was fine but his tests were more than RIDICULOUS. I think he should stick to his major course studies, with those who are in love with DARWIN, and leave the summer courses to those who actually want their students to learn!
He wants to push his own opinions on the student. I got sick of hearing about evolution and how cells evolve not adapt. I thought this was an anatomy and physiology class and not a class about darwinism. Got B+ in A&P 1 and 2 what happened in his class?
One of my favorite teachers of all time. Keeps classes very ineresting. You have to study hard to get a good grade. The fact that he's so cute gives me more motivation to go to his lectures and get a good grade. Looks aside, he is one of the most intelligent professors I've had.
This class is hard. In order to succeed, you must be ready to work very hard. He is very passionate about biology and one of the best teachers. He is very handsome and keeps class interesting and fun.
Erbe is God!
He is very hard teacher but he does try very hard to get you the information. He loves evolutionary biology and I think he wants you to love it also.
I can't recommend him enough! The class is hard because it's hard material not because of him. great prof great stories and don't forget the yingling!
Very good teacher and he knows what he is talking about. If you study alot you will do well.
Amazing teacher, definetely knows what he's talking about and knows how to explain it in a way students can understand--loves loves loves evolution, can be a little bit hard to the antievolutionists, but then again, mabye they shouldn't go into biology---i highly recommend him, and he's funny
Professor Erbe is a very energetic and interesting instructor. This class is very hard though - you have to study a lot to get a decent grade. He was funny and told us interesting stories.
Wonderful teacher! He is meticulous and detail oriented both in his lectures and tests. He presents materials clearly and concisely with a bit of humor. He makes the concepts really understandable. I would take him again in a heartbeat!
Best lectures I've ever had the priviledge of attending.
Prof Erbe is very intelligent. Ask anyone and they'll tell you he's straight forward with what he expects from his students. However, he has a habit of going on tangets about evolution in A&P. Wish he would have saved it for his evolution class since the class was a condensed A&P summer class.
He explains everything many times and what he covers in class is exactly what will be on the test. If you're not willing to study then you may have trouble. As long as you pay attention and take his advice you'll do great! A tape recorder makes it easier because you definitely want to write down everything he says!
Very competent professor, but do not take him unless you are willing to study. The tests are hard and and all answered in short essay responses. You will learn a lot from Erbe.
Erbe's lectures were pretty much him reading straight out of the book to us.. and his tests were beyond ridiculous. I studied VERY much and did not expect this to be a cake walk. He seems like a smart and nice guy, but he isn't particularly great at teaching the material.. :/
Erbe does not try to push his ideas onto students or attack their religion as others have said. A true scientific thinker, he relies on empirical evidence to form conclusions. If you find this threatening, maybe you should leave science to those that "get it". Erbe's classroom is an actual learning environment and his lectures are stimulating.
I had this HIm for bio222 and bio171-bio173. he is very passionate about biology. his tests are hard. but if you can listen to lecture and retain what he says it's cake. Its rather easy to know what is going to be on the tests. his book is hi-lighted and put up on the screen. so just hi-light and listen to what he says and this class will be Cake!
Easily the best professor I've ever had, he's very clear about the information, and teaches in a way that makes it easy to understand. The tests were very hard, and he does not curve grades, but as long as you study and make an effort to learn the material, getting a C or B isn't too hard.
Mr.Erbe is a passionate and knowledgeable teacher. His exams are hard. Be prepared to study hard. Wasn't too thrilled to hear about his theories on Evolution in this class. not sure why he makes things harder for the students.
Mr. Erbe is one of the best professors I have ever had. I would advise anyone taking the BIO-170 series to make sure you are in his class and if you can't get in then wait for it. He is definitely worthwhile. The class was interesting and it is clear that Mr. Erbe is very passionate about what he teaches.
Devotees (including the department chair) love him. Get ready for his soapbox, because it is all you will ever hear about. Cares little for the success of the class unless you're an Honors student. Jumps around a lot in the book, hard to follow. Subtly bad-mouthed non-majors students and other profs. But hey, he's tenured - there is no recourse.
Excellent Bio teacher!! He has a sense of humor, too! Yes, he loves evolution, but this is a biology class; goes out of the way to NOT say that there is no god - if there is he works through the process of evolution. GET OVER IT - it is a science class, not a religion class!!
Do yourself a favor! take anybody else you can find...I mean anybody if you worry about your grades, otherwise if you actually Love Biology then take him BUT JUST FOR THAT reason!!
Easily one of the best teachers I have ever had. The only drawback is that he sometimes allows class discussions to occur that do not pertain to science(mostly having to do with creationism to which he is clearly opposed).Other than that he takes the time to make sure that all questions are answered and presents materials in an interesting manner.
People are amazing, college students above that which do not accept evolution.AMAZING. Evolution is a proven theory, just like germ theory, and the theory of gravity, etc. Evolution has not been disproved in 150 years.Every bone, gene, anatomical comparison, medication made, etc, has confirmed evolution.I thought the taliban were the only 1's who denyit
Hopefully the individuals who dislike evolution are not science majors. People said he talks a lot about evolution, no way in biology class :^) Biology is the study of life, life evolved. Have these people seen the class discription for 173, ITS ALL EVOLUTION. Have these people ever talked to a biologist :^) Other countries make fun of us 4 this
I took this class online and it was very straightforward and easy to follow.
In all my years as a student, I have never felt as disrespected as I did as a student in his classroom. This has little to do with his evolutionary beliefs (in fact, he and I share similar viewpoints on that topic) and more to do with his lack of regard for student privacy. I would never, ever recommend this instructor.
He is a great biology teacher. Be prepared to study-he is not easy. Yes, evolution is a huge topic to him, but it should be for everyone, especially since this course is for science majors. It's a fun course, and I recommend him if you really want to learn a lot.
Excellent instructor. Hard but fair. Organized and personable. Students know what is expected of them. Heavy emphasis on Evolution in both instructor and textbook. Don't take it personally! If you want to learn Biology and you are willing to some effort into studying... This is the proffesor for you.
People were complaining about the teacher and blaming him. He was the smartest teacher I have had. Prior to tests though these people were not studying, they were sitting around talking. One person even asked me b4 a test where a 2 page diagram was (that he showed us) The diagram explained what half of the exam was over! Study instead of complain.
He is probably my favorite teacher ever. He is by no means easy, but he is passionate about the subject. I learned more from him than any other single biology professor. If you are interested in biology and it is crucial to your future career man up and take his class. Serious students won;t regret it.
This class is HARD! Im not sure is its the content or the teacher. Im struggling and science is normally one of my favorite subjects. I SWEAR IM PRAYING FOR A "C"
He is the best professor I've ever had! He teaches straight from the book and his tests are exactly what he teaches. He makes a difficult class a lot more understandable. His interest in the subject is also a plus. I would recommend him to anyone! In fact, I'm taking him for the second half of the two-semester course!
One of my favorite teachers I've ever had, his lectures are entertaining if you're a sciencey kind of person. If though you are very religious i'd consider taking someone else
I am about to graduate from college and I can honestly say Erbe was the most disrespectful and least helpful of all professors. He completely ignored covering any biology and for that matter almost every evolution topic to make a point of being anti God and Anti- Christian. Several times he even went as far as try to coerce God in class.
I have take two classes with Mr. Erbe. The first was in person, the second was online. He did a very nice job for both classes, but excels in his lectures. If you like biologyevolution, he is the best teacher you will find.
Professor Erbe is a tough teacher and will not feel sorry for you. He is a believer of you get what your earn. Don't expect sympathy or extra credit. He is hard but he is a great lecturer. I would recommend having a recorder for the lectures and transcribe from those lectures. Study only what he goes over and study hard. Toughest test ever.
I took this anatomy and physiology II over the summer and I do not recommend it. The information and lectures are good and reasonable but the exams are tough. Recording lectures is recommended. If you do take this over the summer with Erbe, don't take any other classes with it if you can avoid it.
Don't take this professor if you 1) are VERY religious or you don't believe in evolution 2) don't like studying 3) are easily offended Personally, I think he's a wonderful professor. He uses the book a lot so pay attention to what pages he treats. In my opinion, his tests are not hard if you study well for them. I respect him a lot.
He is tough but fair. He also expects students to behave like adults and take responsibility for learning, but aids you in every way he can. He all but spells out what will be on the exam, and what he doesn't tell you the study guide will. Tests are all essay questions, but he always points out the main points for lecture based questions. 247
You can tell Erbe loves his job and is passionate about science, that makes it very exciting to learn from him. Tests are all essay questions, so you really have to learn the material! But if you find Evolution interesting it won't be difficult to learn. He was by far my favorite teacher I've taken at Sinclair! Be ready to work, but I recommend!
He is a good teacher, but a very prideful and arrogant person. If you can stomach his personality and separate the teaching of the material from his plug points to brag about himself or call people who don't think like him stupid then I would suggest taking the class. It is not an easy course, but it is also very doable if you put in the work.
I highly recommend Erbe if you are a Biology major. If not, take one of the other Professors. He does not use Power Point, and others do. In fact, some students in other classes get an A or B and would fail Erbe in the same course.
BIO 1270 is the second biology course after 1270. If you had Erbe for 1170, then you know what to expect. IF not, a word of warning: Don't walk into class and expect power points with the test questions highlighted. I had classmates who never even opened the Campbell textbook because their 1170 instructor just used PP. Read, record, study
BIO 2222: Evolution. This is a 3 credit hour class but requires intense studying. I have had this Professor for two other classes; the biggest mistake students make is in having low expectations. He passionately believes in forcing students to learn course material. I think this prepares you for more serious courses!
Erbe considers himself to be the hardest teacher in this course, he lectures for a long time and does not offer any extra credit. However, he prepares you for harder biology classes that you'll have in the future and you learn a lot in his class! Also he is fun to listen to if you like evolution!
Erbe is a very knowledgeable professor. This class is very reading intensive, and he forces you to learn the material. However, it is well regulated and he makes his expectations clear. I loved having him because he is very passionate about what he teaches. If you can keep up, you have the opportunity to learn a lot.
He is a very good professor. The class is a little lecture heavy, but if you do exactly what he recommends you will be fine. Make sure to read, record lectures, and take good notes. He will tell you exactly what is on the test if you are paying attention in class. Would highly recommend creating a study group with people from class, it helps a lot.
very smart knows what hes talking about. passionate about teaching. makes it easy to understand the material. definitely taking him again
As a non-science major, I struggled immensely. It was a really interesting class. But, 80% of the final grade comes from the three exams and the other 20% is from the three papers. Even when I kept up with studying I only passed the first exam with 68%. This class made it hard to keep up with work for my other classes.
Erbe is a fantastic teacher, who is very passionate about what he is talking about. His class is emphatically NOT easy, and you have to do a lot of work to pass. As others have said, he is passionate about forcing you to learn the course material. A word of advice: if you don't think you have to study for his tests, think again. They're all essay.
Worst teacher Ive ever experienced! He cared more about anything revolution than actually teaching biology. He would constantly go off topic and go towards anything anti religion, or how men are just apes, etc. if he does not care for youR character or opinions, you will not pass this class no matter what you do.
Does a great job of going in-depth into the material. He's passionate about what he teaches. He also gives plenty of feedback. There is a lot to read, so do not procrastinate. This course is taught at a university level, so procrastinating will not help you at all. His rants are a waste of time, like most rants. Responds quickly to emails.
The greatest professor I have ever had in my life. I have never met a person with such a great personality and passion for knowledge. No problems with humor, love sarcasm! Get ready to read who is taking him. I knew I would get a bad grade, still took him because I have never had a feeling of enjoyment after every lecture. Love his teaching skills!
Forces you to read and understand the material. Exams are essays for the most of the time. I learned a lot, I would always take him as my professor again. Such a great person! Highly Recommend. Took him for my Evolution class, lectures are just amazing suggest you to record, buy the study guide and pay close attention to TQs!!!
He couldn't round 89% to an A because its not 89.5 or higher, even 89.4 will get you a B was his exact words. Having to rely on GPA and scholarships to go to school, it was really important to me so if you are going to ask him for help, good luck!
I would not recommend taking him virtually. He really hates teaching virtual classes and has not found his groove with it yet. Tests are timed with one minute for every question and you are unable to go back to previous questions, so if you arent a confident test taker that can be a struggle since your overall grade is 90% tests.
Erbe's personality and coach mentality are a big part of the way he teaches. If you arent feeling it, I would definitely drop. He is a big personality and can come off as rude sometimes. He is also easily distracted wanting to coach the class on work ethic and values which can be kind of preachy. I know it was inspiring for other people though.
Idk if he is going though something or what, but he was not the same teacher online that he was in person. His humor is really sarcastic and he takes no crap, but this semester he just seemed jaded and irritable. Just kept saying how much he hated looking at little black boxes all day and ranting in circles about Sinclair deciding to be online.
This class just has not transitioned to online well. It was a lot of pre-recorded videos, like half made by the prof. I felt like the flow of the class was all messed up too. We didnt always lecture on a section at all sometimes and lecture would be like a month ahead of the videos we were watching other times. It was just kind of weird.
Exams in this course are just overly fiddley, very much choose the best answer and you are basically submitting each question individually. I understand this is to keep people from cheating but I would so much rather take the exams on something like Respondus and be able to use the test taking strategies I would have if it been an in-person exam.
While I am sorry to hear that he struggled with teaching online and that he found it depressing, that is no excuse for continued unprofessional behavior. I cannot believe the way he degraded students that werent excelling in his class.
This professor never taught during class time, but still held class for some reason. Then he would assign a stack of videos because we didnt have class
Exams are so messed up. I studied my ass off and so did a bunch of my classmates and then we would get like Cs and Ds. Asked him privately and as a group in class to go over a few questions even from the exam and he flipped out.
Im an atheist and believe in evolution, and still think he is disrespectful. He told the whole class a couple of peoples grades, he had a bash session for people who got Ds, and he regularly called anyone struggling lazy because when he did poorly in college it was because of laziness apparently.
Hard to take him seriously when he constantly wants a pat on the back for doing his job but tells students to work harder. He went on and on about the time and extra work it caused him to find videos and post the recordings he made last semester but didnt think twice about assigning an 18 page paper and 15 videos for 1 chapter.
If you want to be yelled at for having a hard time this is the class for you! Quotes from this professor after a bunch of people got Ds on a exam include D stands for lack or dedication. D stands for didnt put in the effort. "there is no excuse for students to not dedicate themselves to this class."
Mr. Erbe is clearly a smart guy, but he is just so focused on pushing his ideas and agendas that I feel like I missed out on really learning from him. I agree with him religiously and politically and still would not take him again.
Prof is super arrogant and boasts that you will have to work your ass off in his class to get a decent grade. Which I would be more okay with if he bothered to teach his class. I didnt pay tuition so I could learn from randos on YouTube.
Professor really wants to talk about his life, which is fine if he would just teach the material too. He seems like he wants to be a motivational speak instead of a teacher. You dont need to tell us to go to college man, we already here.
The relentless ranting was such a huge distraction from the class for me. Youll likely know within the first week if you are going to like this guys style or not.
Professor Erbe is a fantastic instructor if you are serious about biology. I learned so much and thoroughly enjoyed this class. The course is hard work, but exams and papers are pretty straightforward if you study and learn the material. I would highly recommend his class to those determined to succeed in college and their future career.
Professor Erbe is one of the toughest professors I've had, but he is truly dedicated and care about his students. He encourage his students to ask challenging questions and makes no hesitations to correct himself if he is wrong. If you like someone who is passionate and dedicated to his teaching. This is the guy for you. Highly recommend!
I'm not sure where all the good vibes are coming from, I dreaded this class. Listening to the negative rhetoric was such a downer.
After only 2 classes I knew this professor wasn't going to be a good fit for me. It felt like he was aggressively pitching himself rather than focusing on the course.
Professor, "This will be one of the hardest classes your have ever taken." Weird brag, but okay. Professor, "Former students thank me, even when they get bad grades." Likely not a universal, you're sort of painting with a broad brush there. Professor, "You young people these days don't know how too....(write, work hard, think critically)" Wow
His courses are really test heavy. While there are a few papers too, they aren't worth more than like 2 percentage points so your grade is mostly the 6 lecture exam. Good news, no cumulative final! Bad news, tests questions are dense reads with long lists of options that are all really similar. If you are a slow reader you'll run out of time.
He has a lot of intense fans among both students and staff, while others dislike his intensity and focus on evolution over all else. However, he brags that if you complain, the department chair will tell you to work it out with him. So, "Don't waste everyone's time." I actually liked his lecture content, but found these rants super cringy...
Everyone saying that they think that he would have been a great professor in person, but the truth is we weren't in person & he wasn't a great professor. I paid my tuition like normal so I expect him to do his job like normal. So many brakes in lecture to complain about the inconvenience, yeah it's not ideal but come on people are dying.
Professor Erbe tends to get a little lost in the weeds. He will start a tangent on something related to lecture and sort of drift out. Since he isn't always focused, you will need to review the notes and readings thoroughly to score well. Exams are critical thinking not definition based so prep well. They are also wordy so read carefully.
Professor Erbe is very passionate about this course and I really enjoyed it. I found that if you do all of the course work and read the transcripts to his videos/ take notes you will do well on the exams. I also used sticky notes to take notes on each page of the book for the summaries he wants you to write and it helped me tremendously.
He believes himself to be the best professor on campus. While his lectures are full of enthusiasm, I was disappointed with the content. Exams are mainly memorizing his lecture notes and though he says that its all critical thinking, that wasn't my experience. As a Bio major, I was hoping for the comprehensive learning he had pitched the first week.
He is kind of all over the place. He will be great and focused one week and then completely off topic and flustered the next. If you need consistency, keep looking.
I have taken 2 of Erbe's classes and I am so tired of reading novels about Darwin and summarizing each chapter. I want a real text book so that I can study the actual content that will be on the exams. His videos just don't work well as a learning tool for me. His recommendation to fix that was to print out the transcript, which was not helpful.
This is not an in depth course. His lectures cover the same buzz words and terms, in the same order, with the same exact obscure examples and references as the assigned book and the assigned video. It is monotonous and there is a big difference between reinforcing an idea and just copying and pasting the same exact lesson over and over again.
Erbe is one of my favorite professors, he is extremely helpful and answers questions outside of class almost immediately. The course is challenging and test heavy, but paying attention to the lectures and videos he provides can make a huge difference.
Erbe is a good professor. If you truly study and work hard in this class, you will do fine. He is a strong humanist, and talks a lot about the creationist belief, so if you are strong in faith, he might not be the person for you. There are quite a few papers, but they are pretty easy. Lots of exams, but if you study, there will be no problem
challenging class but if you do the work you'll pass.
The course is fairly easy so long as you read the material and study the professor's handouts. He has some old school personal beliefs on women, marriage, & children that he shared for some reason, that made me uncomfortable. He is anti creationism which makes sense given the topic, but like it gets a little old even if you came in on board.
I was hyped to take Erbe as a Bio major, but it was not the passionate learning experience I read about from others on here. I just didn't feel challenged, nor did I feel like he was really interested in students questions. Maybe I got him on an off term, but I was disappointed it felt overly rehearsed and more frustrated than enthusiastic.
Do not expect any teaching or any sort of feedback or help from professor if taken in an online setting. This course is entirely do it yourself, basically read the book and take the test with no semblance of continuity in test questions.
I really enjoyed this course and learned a lot. The professor was very helpful and knowledgeable.
I took a course with this professor and ended up heavily liking his teaching style so I took another course with him. I really love how he makes it easy to understand the material and everything he goes over in class or videos online match the test perfectly. He is very passionate about what he teaches and can be flexible if need be.
Prof Erbe was a fantastic teacher with a passion for the material he teaches. Each course was always thought out with clear instructions and guidelines. His delivery was always thorough, classes were always the perfect balance of education and fun as Erbe is a very personable teacher, and coming from a Med student I am going to miss him a lot!
I was extremely disappointed in this professor. He goes far beyond teaching the basic principles of evolution. Very arrogant and his lecture videos take 15 minutes for what could be said in 4. He just says the same thing 10 different ways to take up time and hear his own voice. I'm shocked that the book he chose was okayed by the department. BAD
Literally the worst teacher I have ever had. The tests were composed of the most specific questions about every single species of animals gone over. Absolutely nothing abnoit the concepts of evolution or applied knowledge. The books were awful and def worth more credit hours for all the work I had to put in. DO NOT TAKE EVOLUTION WITH THIS MAN.
I have NEVER gotten less than an A+ in an online 3 credit hour class, until now. This is supposed to be an easy A but he takes pride in the fact that his class is so difficult. Not a quizlet class, weekly 2 page papers, heavily weighted tests. Don't add his class into your schedule thinking it'll be an easy filler.
The class is hard, but he teaches it about as good as you can. As long as you show up and study you can make it.
Oh my god? Genuinely my only thought through the whole class. I think him knocking a point off my paper for writing his last name wrong tells a lot about his grading. Long, grueling papers literally worth nothing, quizzes worth nothing and cannot see what I could've gotten wrong to study. Exams are the whole grade, not worth the mental pain at all.
As a 3 credit intro course, this class was rough. I've never received anything below a B+ in my online studies. Expect 2-3 quizzes a week, 6-8 page paper every other, a discussion every other, and exam every other. 8 page papers are worth 3 points, exams worth 23. Expect 3 hours of videos weekly and tons of reading. Not worth the time or effort.
Lots of reading and hours worth of videos. You barely get any time for the exams and it's a lockdown browser.
Erbe's class is a tough one, but using Unstuck study alongside the required readings can really help. Expect frequent assessments, but the content is engaging if you stay on top of it.
Although this class was workload heavy, Professor Erbe gave clear instructions for what needed to be done and was nice and helpful when reached out to and when giving feedback. As long as you stay on top of the workload, you will do well! I'm glad I took this class.
This class does have quite the workload for a 3-credit class. 4 exams will be worth 70% of your grade, meaning your overall grade relies heavily on your exam scores. Professor Erbe does set out clear and well-formatted guidelines for the class. His course overview is thorough, he is easy to reach out to, and he is helpful from my own experience.
Oh where do I begin, Erbe. I took him a while ago but his test style still haunts me, I had to come back and write this. His exams are so particular, to the point where one singular word in a question will change the answer. He prides himself on trying to trick you and the trauma will last for semesters to come till u think everything is a trick.
If you don't attend his lectures, you very likely will not pass. He teaches what he wants to teach and does not provide any assistance by way of a study guide, etc. His tests are not easy. His lectures are good, but you have to really hone in on the details to pass his tests.
Dr. Erbe is an excellent teacher. He is very organized, he speaks proper English and his lectures are very detailed and rational. Attend class! He gives clear and precise instructions on assignments. He follows a strict schedule. Outside class he is very available to answer questions.
Oof. This is the only class I've taken over two semesters that uses the lockdown browser for exams and it sucks being treated like a cheating high schooler. Every exam question has 5-6 choices and they're worded in ways to trick you - again, the only professor I've had that's ever done this. Take literally any other class. Not worth your time.
