This teacher is a nice friendly guy but he is hard to follow in class. It must be because he is new to teaching. Likewise he tells you some political things that I know are not correct.
he's the coolest teacher
THIS GUY IS A NICE PERSON THAT IS TRYING HARD TO TEACH GOOD BUT I HAVE PROBLEMS FOLLOWING HIM AN DHIS PRESENTATION
He is nice but very hard to follow. He starts talking about something like Media for example and then he says "but we'll talk about that later on the semester"; that kinda drove me crazy and I lost interest on what he was saing. I just followed the book.
he's a really really cool instructor.
he's helpful and very nice. not really clear about things and a little bit boring but at least he's willing to help
Nice guy, but VERY unorganized and has horrible lecture skills. Very boring and confusing at the same time. Obsessed with one or two particular issues of inequality that are repeated over and over and over and over and over until you just want to get your grade and count down the minutes until the semester is over. Sorry to be honest.
I understand the bias statement. Even though I completely agree with Estrada's views, as a professor he should probably teach all sides of issues so students can form their own opinions. I did learn some interesting things and it was easy to get an "A". Unorganization and boring parts aside, he's not so bad. Highly recommended if you are Latino.
This class took a lot of patience to sit through. There is very little organization to his class because the lecture gets based off of class discussion. It is an easy A though because he really wants you to do well and I don't think he is aware of how unprofessional his bias is.
Prof. Estrada's class was interesting and good. He is smart and funny and tries hard to get students interested. Some of these charges of bias are funny. He is no more or less than any other prof. Granted, he could have given more time to different sides/theories at times. I still don't think he is more bias than other profs, though. Don't confuse style with substance. So he doesn't like the minutemen! :) Still gave their point of view. With clarity, he got better throughout the semester. Probably depended on the topic somewhat.
Very disorganized lectures. He just babbled on and on and got sidetracked a lot. But you can sleep through his class and still get an A.
Never took any real notes, read the book, got a B on the only paper he assigned, Mulitple Choice tests are easy, walked out with an A. Just a review of what I already learned in Highschool. Might be a little bit harder for international students (moves through vocabulary fast).
Very funny and helpful! I recommend it.
Good. Interesting. Pretty clear. Sometimes funny. Sometimes not.
If you only talk to him...he's very helpful, and don't worry if political science is not your main interest. This class is easy but tests are based equally on the book and his lectures. The good thing is that he gives outlines and is willing to answer any questions.
Biases come through but cares about what he teaches and tries to be fair.
Super hot. Super funny. I really liked him. He is a great teacher. He is very relatable and makes class interesting. Plus he is REAL easy on the eyes!! His tests are not too hard and he gives no homework except a few readings outside of class. Totally recommended!
very boring class
Mr. Estrada is a great guy but his newness to teaching gets in the way of his effectiveness.he doesnt want to be a jerk so goes over the same material too many times and then you end up skipping half the material. definitely has a left wing viewpoint which I personally agreed with.lextremely easy because he doesnt want to give anyone a bad grade
Beats the chalkboard and looks like an eraser by the end of class. Good teacher.
Good prof. Smart, funny and engaging. Talks a lot and can get rushed at time, but is very interesting and passionate. He doesn't like anti-immigrant groups! haha
Easy teacher. He doesn't assign papers, which is a plus. His lectures can become boring but he's not bad looking, so you atleast have something nice to look at.
Good prof. Interesting lectures, very knowledgeable and passionate. Gets critical about American govt., but still gives other side, unless the other side has no basis in facts like anti-immigrant groups. He is down-to-earth and very nice too.
Take him!He lectures a lot on the same thing thing for a couple of days, but this will be for your own good of clarity.Go to class!Do your journals and do well in test, you'll do fine in his class =)He's really nice and understanding, helpful too!
funny guy. im glad that i took his class in spring. his test is easy and the study guide does help a lot. be honest i'd never read the textbook.. juz show up and take note, the test wont be too hard for u. he is really cool.
Michael is a nice guy and very young. While taking his class I thought "I would like to come back and take a class from him in 10 years when he has matured" His lectures at times were interesting, but it seemed like he was trying very hard to just touch the surface, as most of the class was to apathetic to be interested in politics.
He never stays on topic and always says "and/or". Nice guy, but the class has zero focus and/or consistency. He likes the A's and/or baseball. He talks a lot about immigration and/or reform. If you don't get an A, you are basically retarded and/or clueless.
One of the worst teachers I'v had. Very unorganized, spends way too much time repeating straightforward/obvious things so half of the planned class is rushed or skipped, gives opinion as fact and often gives incorrect info really hard to sit through, patronizing. I agree with his liberal perspective but I don't agree with teaching with such bias.
This man lectures with enthusiasm and passion for the subject. He grades very fair considering that this is only an introductory class. He gets very indepth about the topic and students from the other building can hear him lecture. He's the reason Pol Sci is my major and i think im considering becoming gay because of him --; -agent kobe
You are just plain retarded if don't take his class. He's a really good teacher. If you don't like his views who cares? He's an easy teacher. His tests are so easy, it's not even funny. The text book is a breeze to read. Take good notes, his tests are from his lectures. Easy A!
UGGH. This guy is too easy. EASY A patronizing. Biased. Has an ocd with his hands. Repeats obvious things, talks a lot about mexican farmers in Fresno, an how expensive it is to live. BORING. You won't learn much, but you'll get an easy A.
Estrada is well-meaning. His lectures need to be more organized. He would benefit from making himself organized lecture notes or power point slides--to keep himself on track. at one point in the class he left the room and the class broke down--the general sentiment was "we are not learning ANYthing in this class." Easy A.
Mr. Estrada is great. He is passionate and really wants his students to succeed. Just take good notes, keep up with reading, and do the journals on time. As far as bias, these same people complaining about bias wouldn't care if he had the same views that they did. So he is critical about American Govt.?! Your adults, people. Learn to take it.
He's a great instructor and very helpful.I advise this class to everyone.
One class we were talking about reforming immigration and the next thing I know he's telling us about Ozzy Osbourne "going pee pee" on the Alamo. Pee pee! I think he didn't want to swear! I didn't learn much else. Basically it's what you cover in HS. Show up, get an A.
One second he's talking about Fresno the other about who knows what. Not organized and totally bias. However, he's real easy going and on the eye's too ;)
Good guy. Intelligent. Seems rushed at times, but then again, there's a lot of material to cover, so just make sure you pay attention. Very helpful if you ask for help. Will not baby you, though. Can be funny too and easy to relate to cause he's young.
He's good looking and that's good enough to get me to come to class. Go to class and take notes. You shouldn't have any problem with his class.
He's a great teacher with a lot of passion for the subject. He does go off on tangents but he does come back to the topic. If you come to class and take notes the tests will be pretty easy as are the journals that he assigns (nothing too demanding). He's funny in a cute and goofy way. He's also easy on the eyes...pretty damn handsome!!
Good guy. Young, smart, personable and funny. Lectures too much, but tries to engage the class.
Nice fun guy. 1 test(T/F, choose questions, short answers),give extra credit,1 final, 1 essay.go to class and take GOOD notes everytime! Work hard on review sheet before tests. you will be fine.although boring in his class, wanting to sleep, learn not much,BUT not hard to get C or B. Notes are more important than the book.I didn't read the book.
His class is alright. Randomly rants about certain topics, which is pretty funny. He grades fair since there is very little assignments. Also hand out extra credits. His tests are mostly based on lectures as well as notes. So it is manadatory to show up.
His lectures tend to get off subject, but he's friendly, intelligent and not to hard on the eyes.
Before you take him, decide what is more important, your GPA or knowledge. He's great for your GPA, worthless if you want to learn anything about government. He is the biggest babbler about God knows what, usually Fresno, Berkeley or baseball. His lectures are like a pool table after a break ? scattered and all over the place. But he means well.
He is a great teacher. You will learn a lot in his class. If you work hard in this class, you will get a good grade.
Mike is intelligent and passionate about politics. So much so, he can maybe rub people the wrong way at times. As he says in class, though, he gets tired of the b.s. that passes for mainstream discourse. So, if you want to participate in discussion, be prepared to back it up. He is also fair, helpful, and young, so easy to relate to.
I can't say I learned a lot in this class. I wish he talked more seriously about current events. Sometimes I felt he was trying too hard to be funny. He definitely means well, but should focus on making lectures more concise, and providing just the facts, without bias. It took several days to cover some things because he kept going off topic.
hes awesome. i learned a lot and he kept me motivated.
Very easy class, as long as you go and take notes then youre good to go. He's a very interesting speaker and will not bore you at all. I really enjoyed his class.
He is very disorganized. We ended up having only 1 project and 1 reflection paper. I didn't understand much of his lecture, and I'm really surprised to get an A, I thought I was doing really poorly. Follow his study guide and he meant what he said. Doesn't use book in class, but have to read a lot.
very interesting class. prof. very passionate about politics and made the class not only interesting but you want to show up. Learned mant new political ideals and really enjoyed this class
Extremely disorganized and lectures never have any kind of focus. He's a nice guy but you never know where he will take you when he goes off. It can seriously be frustrating sitting in his class because you ask yourself: where's he going with this? How many times will he repeat this? What do I want for dinner? At least he's young and can relate.
Cool, interesting prof. Very knowledgeable and passionate about politics and can be really funny. He does get somewhat frustrated, though, when he feels the class isn't reading or engaged. Understandable, though. Go to class, take good notes and walk out with a A or B.
He's a cool young teacher, gets off topic a lot and tries a little bit too hard to be funny. Class would be better if he always had a power point. If you have any trouble just make sure to see him during office hours and he'll be sure to help! I give him a B+
really hot!!he's really trying to make a change in his students' ideas about politics but it doesn't seem to be working... interesting class though, and an easy A.
Yup, he's cute, but also he challenges your opinions, so don't back down. The first half of the class is open discussion. Second half is lecture, take lots of notes as this would be the test. Very liberal, but what do you expect? It's SF and I love it!
He likes to challenge your opinion. I like his class because he brings up whats going on in the world, or USA especially. He likes to talk and end the class right at the time or maybe passed the class time! His test is not hard as long as you listen to his lecture. Recommended.
i like mr. e. my only issue is his lectures are hard to follow because he gets off topic a lot so note taking is useless. he needs to be more focused but he really teaches with passion. he will challenge your position but he will not punish you gradewise if you disagree w/his beliefs which is very cool for a prof to do. a great prof in the making!
Just because my rating gives him a happy face doesn't mean I enjoyed the class. Extremely biased teacher; you will only get one point of view on any subject he talks about - the extremely liberal side. He also spends half of class talking about nothing important and doesn't cover much material throughout the class. Hardly any assignments, easy A.
Mr. Estrada is by far one of the most chill professors I've had so far. His class is easy if you study for your test which shouldn't be a problem since he gives you a study guide with the exact material. the only complaint I had is that he's a bit disorganized with his lectures since he strays off topic so much. but hes cool easy good grade
Muy caliente...this prof is the only reason you need to come to class. Also, he's a great teacher and really presents current political material in an accessible way. Little homework, low book use, easy tests, highly recommended.
If you are latino, take him! His is a proud mexican-american. His lectures are on the liberal side, he's passionate about what he talks about. Take notes, read the course reader, and you'll be fine with a good grade. He's fair, and pretty easy going, he's also easy going about coming in late.
He was very helpful and he is very nice. I work a lot and he let me come to night class instead a couple of times. He is liberal but contrary to what others have said will let you tell your side.
Provides a one sided view..yet opens one's eyes to reality. He doesnt sprinkle sugar on bull and call it candy. Honest and convincing enough that one can consider taking up the subject as a major.
He is a really chill professor. He'll give you the liberal view to things but is also open to others. He just assigns readings for homework. The midterms are pretty easy as long as you do the study guide. The only problem i have is that he always ends class late.
HE IS SO DAMN HOT! but he is so disorganized and starts going off topic in class. Attendance is important or he will email you about it. If you need to talk to him, go to his office. He is very understanding and helpful and EXTREMELY HOT!
He's disorganized but very passionate. Hardly no homework. Tests are very easy as long as you take good notes and read assigned readings. 2 midterms and 1 Final and gives study guide for all. Gives you opportunity for xtra credit. Take him especially if you are Latino!
Michael is a fun teacher who clearly knows his stuff. Like others said, he's very disorganized, so be sure to exercise some self discipline. The material is great and class discussion can get heated, but that's exactly how a poli sci class should be. ;-)
Michael knows his stuff. He is cool and helpful. Now I know how governments and society work. I had learned a lot from him. The only homework you will need to do is the readings. Make sure to keep up with the readings and you will do good on his tests.
Mike Estrada is H-O-T, I loved looking at his dimples!!! As long as you show up for class, take notes and read the assigned readings you will do alright in his class.. no coffee needed in his evening class it is very interesting and you will learn a lot.
He is sweet. Take his class.
im latina. i dont get the hot thing. he is ok looking. thats it. anyways he is nice and he teaches good. but then sometimes he gets distracked and then he talks about other stuff. like whatever is on his mind and growing up in fresno. when he wants to make a point he smacks the chalkboard. and then he always says that sf costs a lot to live here.
Nice & good looking.u'll understand after he repect & repect the same topic, but easy off-topic. 1 extra cradit only, but can push ur grade from B to A. 1 homework on my class, just write down 2 questions, that's it.The exams are what he said in class & on board.Take notes for must!!Study the notes & read the book for the short questions, u'll be fine.
Professor Baby Bash is yummy to look at but omg these posts are true...he is tangent central and impossible to follow but he is really nice and will answer your questions after class.
Professor Estrada is passionate, knowledgeable and interesting. He can be critical about American Govt., but allows students to express different opinions. If students aren't motivated to read or learn about politics, you'll probably have a tough time in his class, though, cause the reading is challenging. But, like Mr. E says, "It's college."
he is very good! if you wanted to all you have to do is read and come in for the weekly quizzes but he counts attendance as 10% of your grade! so it would be wise to go everyday especially if you didn't understand the text. he elaborates on it during class discussions! great teacher, i enjoyed the class!
GREAT TEACHER! i enjoyed his class very much! learned a lot about politics and US government from his class. take his class for sure!
The most hmewrk he'll ever give is for u to write a few questions out of the reading (frm the textbk HE created thats only $15!). He makes the class as interesting as can be & gives clear study guides. his exams are multiple choice (and EASY). If ur a republican/conservatist/rightist u may not like this class. either way its a VERY EASY A.
He is young and hot. His lecture is not hard. easy to get A. I liked his passion for politics.
Mr. E is the man. Really nice, gives you great readings on the issues and tells it like it is. The information in this class is invaluable. The class is easy, but try and learn something- the dude is passionate, smart and wants kids to care about issues that matter. To the apathetic iphone addicts- give your spot up to someone who actually cares.
Awful! i took his intl relations course. he is so hard to follow, very unorganized lectures. spends most the time babbling about personal life, and tended to disagree or just ignore students opinions, in a smug manner. i will never take a class from him again. certainly didnt spark my interest in poli sci.
i agree that mr.e is impossible to follow. show up 5 min and you will be lost while mr.e talks about fresno or unionizing. but i disagree that mr.e is smug. mr.e has strong opinions. and mr.e might disagree with u but mr.e won't embarrass u if you have a different view. mr.e acknowledges everyone and treats u fairly even when u disagree with mr.e.
Awful! Could not keep up with this guy! He jumps back and fourth from different subjects making it impossible to keep up. I would not recommend him for pol sci 1, take another teacher!!!
This class is super easy. The reading can be difficult at times but he talks about them in class. That being said, this class was horrible. He spends the first half of the lecture talking about nothing. Dont be late or later than he is he will call you out in front of everyone. But it's okay if he's 15 min late. Super easy, but super boring.
Learned so much from his Intl. Relations course. If you pay attention what he talks about is very relevant and important to what goes on in the world. He's very smart and knows the subject; unbiased. If you actually read the book and take notes and listen you will do well.
Pretty laid-back proff, he cusses alot. No homework but got to keep up with readings or your gonna fail his quiz's since its based on the readings. When the class is not engaging with him it's super boring. This guy will never wear the same shirt twice, he tends to lean on the chalkboard and grind his back onto it.
He's hella lazy. He does not do anything, but he talks about his personal life. The only thing u can do to pass his class that u must read and remember the readings, because he never explains the readings in class. His class is so boring. I have learn nothing. If u are planing to take his boring class, so u have to ready to learn by yourself.
His class is easy if you do the reading. End of story. However, be prepared to listen to him ramble for half an hour before actually starting his lecture. He likes to share about his personal life...so much so, he might as well give us his social security number.
Class is boring as hell, I agree with the people who said he rambles on and on to infinity and beyond about his personal life, such as how glad he is to have broken up with his exes. Nonetheless, the flaming hot chili paper by his numerical ratings says it all. Take his class if you want an easy A and are in need/want of some serious eye-candy ;)
This class isnt structured well.He jumps around & doesn't discuss the readings entirely from week to week. He'll go over readings after we are already quized!?? Very Frustrating! The midterm is based on his readings & what he talks about in class. He will be testing you on things that he purely discusses in class.Be sure2take notes on everything.
At first, I was not fond of this class at all. However, I grew to like it. Participate in class and ask questions, or just stop complaining on how boring it is. Read assigned readings and understand them, because his quizzes/tests are based on them.
It is a boring class but an easy a. As long as your read your assignment you will be fine. He does not explain topics clearly and jumps around the bus. Hes an okay guy but not a great teacher,
As a proud soldier, I'm probably the last person you'd think would like Estrada, but I REALLY did. Yes, we disagreed on many fundamental positions (and still do), but, as others have pointed out, he never made it personal when grading me. I have to say, that man's as fair as they come. I wish other progressive profs @CCSF would follow his example.
LOVED this class! I didn't have much interest in Political Science before, but Estrada makes it fascinating. I learned so much more than I thought I would. The class starts off kind of slow with history of the U.S but gets REALLY interesting once he gets into the modern world we live in now. Take him, you won't regret it.
I half to admit he is an ok professor. Boring at times, yes, did I say boring! Well, he really is passionate regarding his desire to help his students but he I see a lot of the times, sees lazy students who just want a grade and thats it, hence, he loses interests and goes on off the wall tangents. Overall an "Ok" teacher. Nothing amazing!
I hated this class. FIrst of all I hate Political Sciences and after taking his class I hate it even more! "You know what I'm saying?" Even though he knows a lot about the subject, half of the time I can't understand anything of what he's saying cuz he mumbles.
He is good but he needs to make sure he knows what to teach and keep his students focused.
This guy is a grouch and he'd be the first to admit it. He's not much for class participation, he'll often ignore raised hands. All that aside, I left his class with a much better understanding of politics and an excellent class reader that lays it all out very smartly. Estrada grades generously and despite his attitude is personally very attentive
His class is easy. Your grade depends mainly on your test which are not hard as long as you pay attention in class. He is fun. Hates the military but will talk about it a lot
who knows were the class is going when he talks. he dont. Mr.e just talks until he run out of time. he talks about everything but class. act like he did bong hits. talk about bass ball alot. and def. hates hipster yupys. he likes talk about his karate kid class to. and hes Latino so he is cool. and thats all.
Basic fundamentals course, no prior experience with politics necessary. Gives ample time for reading, little homework, some easy group work. Grade depends primarily on midterm & final. Read, engage, take notes on lecture. You will get an A rather easily if you do this.
I can't say this about all of my professor, but I actually did learn something. Attendance is mandatory... unless you're the one teaching the class. He tends to ramble about off-topic subjects, but he makes up for it by being "easy on the eyes."
Professor Estrada is THE BEST!. I came to the class with no interest in Poli science and left with so much knowledge and a switching to a poli science major! Being ESL students I found the class hard since my vocabulary is not the greates, but he made it better by explaining and giving real life examples! Take him, you will be glad!! Plus he is HOT
If you want an easy C, take his class. But his lectures always go off into a tangent. The end of the semester, he didn't even bother lecturing anymore because "making PowerPoint presentations" took too much of his time so he made the class read about 10 articles online to test us on for the final. Not even in-class material. What a joke.
I would recommend avoiding his class. His tests are multiple choice and essay for the midterm and final. But he is not clear and majority of your grade depends on those two tests only.
Covers the bases while getting into a little of sociology and economics. Lectures a bit, but likes to make time for discussion. Some group work throughout the semester and half the final was a class exercise. Kinda fun and cool. Students who aren't interested or paying attention drive him a bit batty, understandably. It's college. Grow up.
Micheal is just one of those teachers you just want to look at. SUPER HOT! Which doesn't help if you're majoring into Politics. Easy, but sometimes would make us feel like we we're worthless. Other wise good teacher.
I took Professor Estrada's class a couple of yrs ago. Ran into him recently and he told me he was returning to work, after being on leave. I couldn't recommend his class more. Informative, interesting, empowering as hell. Pretty straightforward lectures and creative group work around education policy. Be ready to participate parliamentary style.
Not only is he HOT!!! But he's so amazon really easy class.
Overall I'm very pleased with Prof. Estrada. He is very clear what he expects from his students. The PP slides were touching many aspects of life not only including political issues but beyond, history, economics, sociology, international relations. You will enjoy or not the group discussions, but it's your chance to be a better public speaker.
Great Professor. Very clear grading system and easy to understand classes. He gives lots of real life examples too.
Professor Estrada was a great individual who I could level with on many things.... besides politics! If you are not a liberal or even have a few conservative ideas get ready for constant lectures that only show the progressive spectrum. Great class for liberals to feed into their owns stuff, anyone else you are in for so frustrating moments.
Taking his class this semester and he is one of the best teachers I have had, majority of the class ever even try to ask questions or responsed to his questions but if you do the readings and try to give feed back and ask questions he will answer them to the best of his knowledge and help you understand a topic , ASK QUESTIONS,
Professor Estrada is an amazing individual. Unfortunately though, I would have liked to see more critical thinking exercises for ideas on both sides of the spectrum (liberals and conservatives). Lasting impression on the class was not an optimistic overview of the American Government and mainly negative (especially if you have conservative views).
Prof. Estrada is very knowledgeable about politics. You will learn a lot from the class. The class is very lecture heavy, so take good notes. Not too many actual assignments or work besides doing the reading. If you work hard, you'll do fine.
Overall good but quite deviating from the lectures then would go off on "ORANGE MAN BAD" rhetoric. Fair grader but i wish he stayed politically neutral during the lectures and not shower students with "Berkeleyisms".
was in professor estradas class Tues and Thurs 11-12 . Politics are uninteresting to me but he made it fun and understanding. He's very sarcastic and has a good sense of humor he sometimes goes off topic but always catches himself. I personally feel like he's very handsome and would get caught up in his looks lol a lot of group work and two test
I really enjoyed professor Estradas lectures, he is genuinely a hardworking professor who enjoys teaching. He is very knowledgeable about politics and encouraged many great class discussions. The midterm and final were very straightforward, everything he lectured was in them in additional to extra credit opportunities. Id highly recommend him!
Prof Estrada wasn't inspirational in our class. He definitely likes to talk a lot and rarely gives students an opportunity to engage. He claims a % of attendance + individual/group homework count towards your grade but it doesn't. You never get to see an actual grade on your HW. Only your attendance, midterm & Final count.
Hes a nice and easygoing professor. He spends the Zoom lectures mostly reviewing or going into further detail on the lectures he posts on modules. If you have questions, hes pretty engaging. If you miss a deadline for a quiz or discussion (on Canvas) hes understanding as long as you contact him.
Estrada is the prof for if you're taking Poli Sci as a GE requirement. If you're a Poli Sci major, take someone else. Course is easy, each week is some readings + a lecture half the time + a quiz or occasionally discussion post. There are zoom lectures, they're not helpful or mandatory. Average prof, easier than most. He could've covered more info.
Worst instructor I've ever had. Uninformed, offensive, rants off-topic. Constantly late, poorly prepared, little to no information taught. He spreads misinformation, every lecture he arrogantly talks on topics he knows nothing about.
Amazing experience with Professor Estrada definitely very handsome and very straight forward, controversial thought provoking political topics, a lot of clarity, respect is enforced at all times, got checked before on being too much of a passionate Latina about Bernie lol I had a blast #Fall2020.
His online class was very organized and he made his expectations on assignments and quizzes very clear. Engage with the topics and demonstrate that you've done the reading and you'll be fine. His political bias shows a bit, but he backs it up with clear facts and rationale. He rambles sometimes but overall the class was insightful and informative.
straightforward class. txtbook is uptodate and pretty essential to quizzes. at first i thought he had pretty unbiased views but 2nd half of the semester that kind of went away lol. zoom lectures arent recorded and no makeups for anything unless ur like dying. but do all the reading and assignments and youll get a good grade. no tricks here people.
I found this course, the quizzes and assigned work straightforward and painless. I feel that with this course having been moved to a remote class, Professor Estrada did the best they could to keep the students engaged. I wish there had been more class participation during the online lectures.
No matter how hard you work on the discussions, he will always find the way to give you less points than deserved. He does not have extra credits and limits the grades to quizzes and discussions.
His feedback is always negative. He will try to subtract points from discussions for stupid reasons. He does not appreciate the hard work that students go through to pass his class. Stay away from this unthoughtful professor.
I took Professor Estrada's "remote class." Weekly content and assignments are online. What was obvious is that there were many students who did minimal work. At one point, Professor Estrada sent the class anemail to inform/remind students to read their "announcements." The class is entirely manageable, as long as you put in effort. Don't be lazy.
Estrada seemed to have clear preferences to how he wanted things written, although his quizzes and announcements were riddles with grammatical mistakes. Due to the class being every other week and often very short, it was difficult to understand his point of view on many subjects. It would have been beneficial to challenge him in class.
Professor Estrada's expectations and requirements were clear. You're expected to finish the readings and any quizzes, discussions and writing assignments on time. Lectures are straight forward. Some class topics may irritate some who can't regulate their emotions well. They'll rant on this site, though.
EASY AND GREAT CLASS! He goes into detail and gives great examples to help you remember, but also tends to ramble. He shows videos, but also video recordings of zoom classes he's taught which I thought was weird considering we were an in person class? He is very understanding and caring. Students look forward to seeing his dog Titan every week:)
Pay attention to what he says even if it doesn't make sense. You will be tested on it. Could be worse.
Estrada's POLS1 class is straightforward - do the readings, take good notes, and you'll learn a lot. The quizzes can be tricky, but Unstuck study helped me prep. Engaging lectures, but attendance is mandatory.
This class was so insanely boring, and he's so weirdly aggressive to get participation out of his students, that going to his class started feeling like pulling teeth. Especially since there were a few students that would just start arguing about random Trump policies in class, and he would just feed into it instead of telling them to be quiet.
Pros: He's hot and funny. Cons: Expensive textbook and grading criteria could be a little fuzzy.
i dont get the bad ratings, they may be influenced by his politics as hes very left leaning chicano and talks about it. the assignments in my class were easy, but i still felt like a learned the material. you will have to do a few easy group debates that are a part of the grade
