Very easy classes if you study a little bit. Quite easy exams and quizes. Nice guy, teches well. Recommended.

i had more fun then i originally thought that i would with a math class. quizzes mediocre, tests difficult, final wasnt as bad as i thought it would be

very hard teacher,bout 2 ppl got an A, hard tests, believes of only excellence, but he knows his math n does try to explain everything so you would understand, again, not an easy class

Tough class. If you want to learn CALC, get this guy. If you don't care, go somewhere else. I managed to get an A, but barely after studying my butt off for the finals and 3rd Exam.

If you don't care about learning BusCalc then A) why are you going into business B) don't take the class and stop complaining. If you care about learning BusCalc, then take this class. I'm taking Mircoecon. and it is making a big difference knowing Calc (all thanks to Farquhar.) Tough class, the pansies dropped out/failed. I got an A.

Above comments can be misleading. He is very helpful, but expect to work in this class. He makes every opportunity to answer student questions, but you must be ready to ask them. Grade is based on Quizes (Multiple Choice) and Exams (Long form). Partial credit IS available, and all the formatting he wants on the tests is clearly explained.

I'm usually a C/D math student...with this guy I was able to get at B+/A- average the entire sememster. If you apply yourself and don't slack off, you'll do really well. He is always willing to help you during his office hours...it pays off if you don't understand something and you need more explanation.

Great teacher! He puts excellent notes on the board that are very useful and explains concepts in depth. He is also very willing to help students when they need help on understanding class material. His tests are long but easy if you understand his lectures and have completed every homework problem.

Awesome personality, very knowledgeble, and makes the subject matter interesting. Gives THE HARDEST exams imginable, VERY strict on grading, and you're REQUIRED to show "ALL" work. Bottom line is, if you're Albert Einstien and want to have a great time revising CALC II, then you'll have great time in his class. If not, either forget it or REGRET it

For this class, he had us do all of our homework online. It was kind of difficult to do it online and then have to do it differently on a test. The answers on the online homework were sometimes wrong too which was confusing. He is a good teacher though. He is always willing to answer questions and help in any way he can. He was a good teacher.

he is an awesome teacher. the reviews below mine freaked me out the first time i entered class...but the whole thing was changed after my 1st day in class. he is extremely helpful n would not mind repeating the explanation until it is clear....take this class if ur wanting to learn and willing to work 2 earn ur grade. i can guarantee u wont regret

Farquhar is an excellent professor. One of the best professors at oakton. You will know math after taking him. Exams are not that diffecult if you work very hard.

tough class. Collects the hw at the beginning of every exam day, so don't slack off and expect to get it done last minute. Not possible! There's too much work, trust me. His tests are pretty difficult, as well as hs quizzes, so go over homework and class notes to study. Pay attention in class and ask questions.

I love this class.. Always looking forward to it.. His class is very hard.. But you learn a lot and he's willing to help if you ask him.. And he's a very intelligent professor. he's not an idiot..

He is cool guy. I took Precalc with him. It was pretty easy, homeworks and quizes are all online. 4 exams and one final. Final is HARD!!! He will expect you to know EVERYTHING!!!! But overall I thought the class was fun.

His tests are hard for a student who doesn't have a good understanding of the materials given in the class. However, he is the best math professor at Oakton. He gives a very good note that you don't even need to open you books. oh Hw.that is one "tiny problem" an average hw takes like 4 to 5 hrs.but that is typical for this level class.

Finite math is a must for business students. Real laid back guy.Very helpful if you ask for help. Communicates well with emails. quizes and HW on mathlab which i love. Exams are crucial. If you to all assignments and study well, he makes life easy.

His class is a lot of work, but if you put in the effort, it will pay off in the long run. Tests can be tricky, but not too bad if you do the work. Very approachable, and will try his hardest to help you understand.

He knows math, and he does a great job teaching. Also somehow he manages to teach everything and answer every single question that the class trows at him.

I took Stats with him. He's very friendly and glad to answer questions.. if you don't then he will amuse you understand everything and move on. SO ASK QUESTIONS! Just pay attention, do the hw, and you'll be good

Very approachable and friendly professor! I lot of people here are complaining because most people at oakton want to get an easy A. you'll have to work hard in this class, but trust me, you learn a lot. if you study hard, it can be an easy A. he is great at explaining things and lectures!

Really fun teacher!! He is clear in class, and will go over a concept many times as students indicate that they want him to. He is really funny, and goes on interesting tangents in class. He clearly loves math and enjoys teaching. Only complaint is that he isn't very good about responding to emails. Do your homework on time, and you'll do great.

The class I took was all online, but we still had to show up to class. He didn't teach, which made me think he was just lazy (which he wasn't). He is willing to help and catch you up as much as possible. When going over a test, he'll give extra points if he can see that you are really trying. He can tell when a student is struggling and will help!

He is a nice teacher , but if you want an easy class this is not it . His tests are all fill in and you have to show work . He also give you more credit if you explain the problem to him on the tests. You have to work for your grade , make sure to do all the homework and quizzes or you won't do well in the class.

He's informative and engaging. The time for DiffiEq is cut short so he accommodates it by providing his lectures online and videos he found. He has high expectations so tests can be tricky, but quizzes are straightforward. DiffiEq can be difficult so don't give up! He is there for you, via email or @ his office.

Awesome dude, he really cares and makes sure his students are understanding the material. Once and a while cracks some jokes so class is not so boring.

Took him for Calc II. He made material very easy to understand, and will not ever judge you for asking "silly" questions. All of the homework was online (with unlimited attempts) and he gives many opportunities to up your grade. If you are hesitating, please take him.

I took the MAT 110 class that was required before taking an actual math course. He's very kind and willing to help you with what you need. Participation was worth 10 points per week and if you showed up and worked, you'd get the points. Very easy course and you can always catch up at home. I finished a month early and he checks in with you.

WARNING: if this is your first time taking pre-calc I pray to you that you have a lot of spare time over the weekend to study!! He takes very structured and easy to follow notes. Exams in class, homework and quizzes online. He will drop 3 of your worst quizzes. Sometimes, he can get lazy and put up quizzes and dates for homework assignments late.

I'm definitely not good at math but he goes out of his way to make sure you understand the material. He really makes difficult concepts easy to understand. You have to really work for your grade. I would not take this class if you don't have a lot of time for it. Really need to study. Tests are difficult but if you keep up you'll pass.

I took him for calc 1. He makes the notes easy to follow and understand. THANK GOD because the book is a lot more difficult to understand. He will also stop class sometimes for questions, and he will have a 10 minute break. Some homework questions are overly complicated for what the test is really on, but he will HINT to you what you will take.

Professor Michael Farquhar was amazing. he ALWAYS answers questions with all the little details. He makes sure to give feedback when you are done with the test and solves all the questions you got wrong. and you can do it and get half credit. he is just super nice.

I took calculus 2 from him, he was by far THE BEST professor i have had for math class . He makes everything so easy and understandable and will literary answer our usual question "where are we going to use this kind of math in our life". He cares about each and every student in class and answers all the questions.

It was by far the hardest class I have ever taken. He was a very understanding teacher. However, the quizzes and tests were brutal. If you want a class that challenges you then by all means take this. The class is very challenging, and get ready to go through some hell.

This was unbelievably tough. The hardest class I have ever taken. Prof.F personality wise is a great guy but dang will he whip you for making mistakes. Don't think you can take his class and have a good time. you will easily spend 40 hrs on homework alone, I did 60 but that's because I'm bad at math. If you've signed up for 149, good luck.

Mat 095 was awesome for me. I was never good at algebra and this class taught me a lot that I missed. Unlimited homework, quiz practice, and test attempts helped me a lot. If you want to brush up on HS math this is the one to take.

He's a good guy and a solid professor. Imo a lot of the perceived difficulty for this class (and calc 2 in general) stems from how you can bumble your way computationally (like I did) through calc 1 without getting an intuition for the material. Do some calc 1 review beforehand, work through (and understand) the homework, and you'll be fine.

He was a good professor overall, he was always willing to help and make sure everyone understood the lessons. He is very lenient and allowed us to correct two of our tests. He does not make it mandatory to show up to the online lectures, but when you do he just goes over the lessons and answers questions. Keep up with your work and you will be good

Okay, so I have a math background so I was able to be successful in this class (so far). He tends to go through material assuming that his students already know math concepts learned in calculus 1 and prior. He does go through these concepts, but quickly. He skips steps, but if you ask, he'll go through it again. For me, he's a great teacher!

This is the best Calculus professor that there is. THESE PEOPLE ARE BEING JERKS. I am going to MAKE IT KNOWN. FARQUHAR IS SO NICE DUDE. He will literally bend over backwards to help you. CALCULUS IS HARD BUT HIS SUPPORT MAKES IT ACCESSABLE. This man has explained the same concept to me 6 different ways so that I could understand it. 10/10.

This Professor cares about his students, he is always willing to help and makes it a point to help the student learn, even if its on his own time. LETS BE HONEST, CALCULUS IS HARD, these people on here are giving Farquhar a bogus rating because THEY ARE SALTY ABOUT THERE GRADE, this professor will help, but you need to do the work. Hes also nice.

You people on here are such babies. Idk why Farquhar has a bad grade, he offers extra credit just for going to office hours. HE WANTS YOU TO SUCCEED and will put in the work to help anyone. He is nice, clever, and he is a genius. He has office hours every day of the week, this guy literally offers his students test corrections, to help ur grade.
