Farrel is very smart but he lacks the ability to grasp the attention of the crowd. It seems as though he isn't too sure of how to present the info. He has weird little pauses?? Definetly recommend reading ahead for class. Ask questions! He'll help you if you need it. Also, he's very hot well in a smart and nerdy way! Recommend if you want to learn.

i took both geog 1 and 2 with him and both were great classes but the cultural geog had to be my fav. He is a very nice professor and is extremely fair with grades. He offers extra credit which makes him even more fair. Overall easy class. Also fun and interesting. Definitely recommend Prof Farrel he is a very smart guy and knows his information.

Honestly this class was not something I was interested in at all. I finished this Summer class having gained so much information and wondering why I shouldn't become a Geography Major. He is such an amazing teacher. I honestly recommend not to miss any class especially during shorter semesters like Summer or Winter. He is a remarkable teacher.

Amazing teacher. I never though I would be so interested in this class. He makes learning interesting. He cares for his each and every student. The only problem is, if you have questions, and you ask them by sending him an e-mail, he won't respond back at a time when you really need it. He is pleasant and easy to understand. Not a real stickler about attendance. The tests seem to be prepared so that one can get good grades if you take notes, read the book and attend all lectures. There was no homework. There is science, but very little math. A broad range of material from meteorology, geology and more. I recommend.

Great teacher! His lectures are clear, he provides study guides, plenty of extra credit opportunities and grades tests quickly. While he doesn't take attendance, I wouldn't describe him as 'chill' - he takes being a teacher seriously. If you go to the lectures and follow the study guides then the class will be informative and not too hard.

Professor Farrell truly goes above and beyond to be helpful and make material interesting, and he's passionate about his field. Initially I signed up for Geography just to satisfy a science requirement, but ended up taking all his classes because he is such a great teacher.

Professor Farrell, is a great instructor. Before each class he goes over all the material in the lab and, during the lab he answers all questions you may have. Professor Farrell creates a very positive and enthusiastic environment for learning. Very professional. He wrote the lab manual for the school. He knows his stuff.

Professor Farrell is extremely passionate about being a Geographer. He is very organized. He is very helpful. Only 3 tests and 4 HW assignments. I highly recommend him. You will learn a lot!

Prof. Farrell was easygoing and relaxed. The class was hardly any stress, only 4 writing assignments and 3 tests of scantron and essay. Test material comes from lecture, since he doesn't take roll some people skip and then fail the tests.

Professor Farrell is the best! He explained all the concepts very well and he showed very interesting videos during class. He made me fall in love with geography that I am planning to double major in geography and journalism.

One of the nicest professors i've had. He goes out of his way to make the class interesting with videos and experiments. We went on a nature hike too. He made me a lot more interested in Geography and I actually felt like I learned something.

I took cultural geography (Geog 2) with him. There are three exams, and he gives you study guides for all three of them. There is one major project during the semester and he gives you a month to do the project. He is one of the best professors in LACC.

One of the best faculties at LACC. Extremely flexible with his students, just make the time to visit him during office hours. All of his lessons were understandable because he broke things down to a science.

I took Geography 2 with Professor Farrell. He is really passionate about his teaching. He doesn't take roll but it's best for you to show up because whatever he talks about will be on your quiz. Just make sure you take notes and you'll be good to go! I recommend him!

TAKE HIM!!! He was honestly the best teacher ever! He takes the time to explain everything! His test are not hard if you study, you have to pay attention in class to be able to pass the test and he gives out a study guide! Geography doesn't sound interesting, but professor Farrell makes it interesting!

Excellent Professor! Absolutely loved his class! I've never had a more positive class experience! He really loves what he does and it shows in the way he teaches and engages the class. I took Geog 15 with him over summer. There are a total of 15 labs, and he drops the lowest one. There is one xtra credit lab. There are three exams, but he drops the lowest one. He answers most of the questions you have during class, but he wants you to come up with the answer yourself. One of the best professors at LACC.

LACC, teeming with apathetic educators, has a few rare gems and Professor Farrell is on of them. He brings a positive attitude to his lectures and encourages classroom participation. He is very clear in what he expects of a student and will answer any questions in a helpful manner. I would recommend him to anyone looking for a positive environment.

Took him for 5 weeks in summer. It was a little information overload but he is very clear on what you should study with a study guide. Book is not really needed but it does help to clear some points up. He is very well traveled and a down to earth person. Interacts a lot with students so we get engaged. Professor Farrell is best teacher I ever had at LACC, he drops the worst quiz , gives extra credits to get a better grade, turns paper on time . Explains the material very good. Pr. Farrell loves his job and his students . I recommend him very much. The labs are very interesting . Do not miss any Labs and you will get a good grade.

So far Farrell is on my list of awesome profs of LACC. There are few like him in the whole college and the ones that are still there should be appreciated. Very inspirational to the point that I considered switching my major to Geo. Other profs should sit in his class and see what it means being a real educator. Geo1 is a must take with him !

Easy & fun course! Lots of extra credit opportunities. Look up Eventbrite to see any events related to Geography (Earth Science, science-related, etc.). I've attended few events just for fun. Also, there are LA Geography Society meetings (more information on LA Geographical Society webpage). Read the book, attend the lecture and you'll be fine.

Wonderful professors. Extremely knowledgeable about Geography. He presents the masterfully presents the material so it's easy to understand. Take this course if you want to learn something useful.

Easy to get A if : attend class, take notes, ask questions and read materials related to his lectures in class. There are 2 midterms (20 % each), 1 final (35%), online homework( 25%), extra credit( to be added to homework). Never ask anything he does not teach. Very clear and consistent.

Professor Farrell is one of the best professors of LACC . Attendance is mandatory. Do not forget about Saturday's lectures and write a short essays for the final test, it gives you a nice credit. Ask questions , he likes them. Take notes during class lecture it helps you on the tests. He is very knowledgeable person with great sense of humor!

Took During Summer, test every week. Take good notes! Loved his lectures. Pay attention to lectures. He suggested, rewrite your notes as an aid for testing. This helped me. Good sense of humor. Farrell is a good professor, he explains everything you need to know, provides extra credit for exams. I do not like MasteringGeography though because his course allows you to take hints on questions but you lose a large portion of your grade.

Professor Farrell makes the class lectures interesting and very relevant to the changes in weather that we see today. He explains difficult concepts in detail. Be prepared to study for the tests. There are extra-credit opportunities, and online homework (which is much harder than tests). If I were to take another geography class, itd be with him.

This is the best professor ever. I just finished the summer course and it was great. Very easy going, easy quizzes and easy final. I haven't enjoyed a class so much in a while. No homework either.

Good Professor. But personally his class was a little tough for me. Theres a lot of reading and vocab terms to learn for each ch. of course doable but its a lot during finals. There was not much of what was on the study guide for the final exam. There are various xtra c. opportunities. Online hw as well.

Professor Farrell has to be one of my favorite professors that I've taken at LACC. He is a true gem! He encourages critical thinking & truly inspires one to learn more about geography. After taking GEO001 and GEO015 with him, my sense of direction has dramatically improved. Participate in class, take good notes, and you'll do just fine.

Professor Farrell is amazing. One of my most favorite professors at LACC. His workload prepares you for university level work. He only gives two tests and a final which make up a majority of the grade. Thats why study! He assigns extra credit too! Furthermore, he generously curves tests. If you want the A though, you have to work for it. 5/5

Professor Farrell is amazing. I took his lab and geo 1 lecture in different semesters. I received an A+ for his lecture. However, I found his lab very difficult. Each lab is different and can get very technical. The labs use a lot of critical thinking. You learn it the same day and apply it the same day. Do not take the lab if you want an easy A!

I took Professor Farrell for Geography 1 (w/ lab) in the fall and Geography of CA in the spring and both classes were some of my favorite at city college! Geography is discredited for being the 'easy' class, but the information is extremely relevant and Professor Farrell is an enthusiastic, professional instructor who takes care of his students.

Very cool professor. He uses his own books for lecture and labs. Very smart. Teaches well. His lecture videos are very easy to understand. He gives extra credit and he is a very caring professor. I took Geography 1 with him and he was such a good teacher that I took Geography 15 with lab. Take this class, you will pass easily.

Professor Farrell is a good professor who knows the subject really well. The class is simple, he splits the chapters into modules. The modules include video lectures, a follow-up quiz from the video lecture, discussions, HW assignments, and a module-ending quiz. No final exam at all. I took him in the winter but it's best to take him for 16 weeks.

I took him for winter 2021. His class was so easy to pass. All you have to do is do all your work and youll get an A. He makes you watch his lectures that are followed by short quizzes. I suggest you do the work ahead of time and the class will fly by quickly.

Professor Farrell is a good professor but the lab class was difficult since the class was online and for 5 weeks. If you need to take it I highly recommend taking it during the 16 weeks and in-person.

Professor Farrell is awesome! He is patient, kind and quick to respond to emails. This was an online course and we would have a Zoom class once a week. Just keep up with the assignments and you should do well. He also teaches Geography 015 Lab which I am looking forward to.

If you raise your hand in class to participare, show up for the field trip, and do the work, he's a great professor.

Was great. Took both courses over the summer and wasn't disappointed. He was very kind and flexible when I had to ask for extensions. There are a lot of small videos and physical paperwork to watch and complete along with quizzes. Was a bit confused about some of the material, but ultimately got an A in both classes. No complaints.

Not just knowledgable on the complex scientific portions of geography, but he is very passionate about it. Very caring and inspirational. Very reasonable and grades outside of Canvas and always favors the student and is more than fair with grading. His class allowed me to be creative and work on my critical thinking skills. This class surprised me.

I took Geo 015, I think his class is like one of those where it's necessary to go since you have to do the lab (just paper stuff) in class and submit it before class ends, but it's not that hard. All information will be somehow given, but attendance is very very VERY important for his class. I used to get on average 7-9 out of 10 every lab class.

Professor Farrell's class made me change my major to Geography! Show interest/attend office hours and he'll help with internship opportunities and write recommendations. His classes are not difficult for for science courses with minimal hw, but you need to attend class and take notes because he prioritizes what's covered in lectures on his tests.
