I think this teacher is tough because he is not flexible when it comes to homework and tests, but he is very interesting and the class is a lot of fun. Take him if you are good with turning in your hw on time and if you don't miss many class sessions.

This professor is VERY into public speaking!!!! Show him that you are interested in learning and you will fly by. I feel like he is tougher on some students more than others... I think it is because he just loves teaching. I would take him again!

Mike is a down to earth guy who makes speaking in front of people seem like a piece of cake. I thoroughly enjoyed going to his class and would take another one with him in a minute.

I thought this class would be easy. Pick a topic read a book report on it. Simple....NOT! We had to really reasearch our topics...3-5 sources. Not hard but not what I expected. Mike pushed us all to research and learn our topic. He encouraged us to excel. I will miss seeing him on Tuesday Night's...I not only learned about public speaking but alot about myself, and the world that I live in. He seems to be harder on some students than others and I think that is becuase he expects more from some. He sees your potential and pushes you to go above it. Would reccommed to anyone.

I was very nervous prior to taking a Communications Course. He made everyone feel comfortable and it turned out to be my favorite class!

At first Mike makes it seem like his class is going to be impossible, high demanding but an awesome instructor!! He really cares about everyone and their education and that really shows!! Very heplful and flexible if you keep an open line of COMMUNICATION!!! Awesome

I was terrified of Public Speaking! It was my worst fear! Because of my Mike my major is now Communications, by far the best instructor I've ever had! I strongly suggest this class, he really cares about is students and is very helpful.

He is very dedicated and wise man and has changed the way I view education. He has a sincere interest in his students, a great sense of humor and I looked forward to class every week of this semester. Challenging definitely, but worth it. I strongly recommend him.

I took him for public speacking and enjoyed it! Then i took him for interpersonal comm. and that was a life changing experience! You need the book he likes terms out of the text but use them correctly!!!for comm 103 we had papers due every week but it was nothing that you couldnt write papers on plus he would lecture on the topic.Trynot missclass!

I took Mike for Public Speaking and Argument & Advocacy. You have to show up. You have to read the book. But he's a good guy with a lot to offer if you will listen. He is loud, but appreciates gentle reminders. :)

Don't take this class if you don't or won't read. Don't take this class if you won't try. Don't bother with Mike if you want to do the bare minimum. If you can think, read, write, and speak, he will change your life. At least a little.

Mr. Fleming is a bit intimidating at first. The only thing more abundant than his bravado is his zeal for teaching. He gives out his # and office hrs. and is never too busy for his students. The class isn't easy but he is willing to work as hard with you as he expects from you. If you want to leave better than you came in; take this class!

Amazing professor! I probably learned the most life-applying skills from this class. ANYONE can walk away with knowledge. Don't expect an easy A, you have to actually work. I got a B and feel it was deserved for my level of work. He worked with me even after I had my knee surgery. He is very passionate about his job and that is a priceless asset.

You are warned from the first day of class that YOU will earn the grade you receive. He is motivating and inspiring IF you put the effort in. Students are treated like adults - this is no high school class. Highly recommend the class.

Mike is a passionate teacher who genuinely cares about his students and their success. This does not mean you can walk all over him and get by only doing the bare minimum. You MUST put forth EVERY ounce of effort you have within to EARN the grade. Speak with him outside of class- he is an amazing man and will do what he can to assist you.

104 was a fun class. You will be required to give a couple of speeches (how else will you learn to argue/advocate appropriately). Awesome debates/discussions in class- participate and ask questions! Great teacher! DO THE WORK- you are responsible for your own learning! This is college folks!

I took both communication 103 and 104 with Fleming, I also received "A's" in both classes. You must be willing to participate in class discussions, which are fun so don't worry, his class is always interesting and are totally worth attending. Must be willing to work hard for what you want in his class. NO SLACKING!!! ;D

I'd like to note that the terrible, scary things people are writing about Fleming are not true. He is always helpful, cares about his students, and expects the most out of them. I have never enjoyed or respected a professor more than him. Please don't let the bad comments scare you. Take his class, you'll love it I swear!!! ;D

Mike is a passionate teacher and cares that students care about their education...If anyone gives him a bad rap it is because they are either still trapped in the high school mentality, or are just immature. Mike has been incredibly helpful in me choosing my future educational goals and genuinely has a profound interest in my achievement of them.

He did seem intimidating in the beginning mainly because of his appearance, voice and workload. However, if you work hard and particpate you will not regret this class. Classes consist of lectures and class discussion on the assinged reading. There are about five essays, (if you're a good writer, you'll be fine), 3 tests and a final group project.

Fleming teaches more than just the subject of the class. He brings real life scenarios into his lectures every single day and does what every great professor should do, what most fail to do; THINK! I woke up every day excited to go to school just so I could make his class;that's never happened. He is tough, honest and brutal, but also life altering

excellent professor! 104 is an agrumentation course and he will refute your claim during discussion. teaches from textbook and gives clear examples. he grades fair. gives lecturs like no other prof. great motivational speaker. two 4-5 min speeches must be given in end of semester. final is easy, questions straight from previous quizes

Greatest teacher ever! he is a little scary at first but if you stick with him you will find he is a very powerful teacher. His class as had more impact on m than any other course I have taken in two years of college. GREAT teacher. He is not easy he wants you to work. THIS IS COLLEGE, we are supposed to work. How can one take an ONLINE COMM class and complain that there wasn't communication? COMM is meant for face to face! This professor is AMAZING! He taught me so much about LIFE! & i became more outgoing! Some say they don't get a lot of time w/him out of class but he is available! If you don't get a great grade, you DIDN'T DO YOUR BEST, end of story.

This is class was super easy! Only five speeches and really super fun! Mr. fleming is ALWAYS willing to help his students.

Basically, you'll either love him or hate him. He's not easy but he cares for his students and he expects alot from you because he knows YOUR potential. Mr. Fleming is an awesome teacher. Not only did he get straight to the point, he kept me interested throughout the class. I get bored with other teachers when they are lecturing, but with him I didn't. He cares even after the semester ends. I wish more of my professors were like him. He is a good teacher - he expects you to attend class and be responsible. He may be a little intimidating but he is a good teacher. I learned a lot about myself and the way I communicate. He tells you word for word what test questions he will give. Just try and you'll do well.

Hands down one of the best instructors I've ever taken. I learned a lot on how to communicate better with others and will be taking him again. He looks mean and stern but really isn't.If you respect him he will respect you and if you have a question or don't understand something he clarifies the material to where you do understand. Fleming is definitely a different kind of professor. He is a tough grader but works to give back the best constructive criticism & help his students better themselves as speakers & people. He is very understanding & is there for his students. He wants to see everyone pass & tries his best to help out. Its a very tough class, but worth it!

Fleming cares!!!!! He is the most considerate person I have ever met. He understands what we go through especially when giving a speech. He always tries to help us improve and he does make a difference in our lives. Fleming is a good teacher, but he is very harsh and intimidating. By the end of the semester, there were only 9 students left in class. He wants students to participate in class, yet when students do speak, Fleming will direct constructive but harsh criticism. I'm glad I was able to pass the class but would not take another class taught by Fleming.

I would take his class again.. Its not a walk in the park type of course, but show up, pay attention, do the work, and your grade will reflect your efforts. If your looking to be spoon fed and be given a grade instead of earning it.. Look elsewhere.

I just finished taking this class, and I can honestly say I am relieved because it was tough; however, I am a high school student and I managed. Attendance is important. He is very clear and covers critical thinking skills. A first I was terrified, but he honestly just cares about us. You will not get a grade you do not deserve.

Prof. Fleming, or Mike as he prefers, is the best educator I have ever had. Not only is he clear and challenges his students but he is a genuinely caring person and is ALWAYS willing to help a student in any way he can. I would HIGHLY recommend him to EVERYONE!

Honestly the most caring professor I've had at MSJC. He genuinely cares for his students and holds them all to a high standard because he believes in you. Yes he is a tough grader and very intimidating but go to his office hours a couple times and then he doesn't seem so scary. He's willing to help if you're willing to ask.

Has extremely high expectations for his students. Class and assignments can be difficult, but professor is very clear about said expectations. Group project is worth a lot. Class itself is fascinating. Professor can be intimidating, but is very welcoming and easier to speak to during office hours. Truly seems to care. Grades take a while.

I really enjoyed taking this class. Prof is very passionate about communication. His lectures hit home! Definitely make you reflect... 5 papers, 3 exams and 1 group project worth 300 points. People view him as intimdating, hes a large male with a strong voice and strong character. Only problem I had was that he is slow at returning graded work.

Do not get scared off by bad reviews! He is very intimidating in the beginning(its a scare tactic to weed off the weak) but he really cares about students he expects a lot but it is managable. He will argue with you and call you out but the best way to survive is to dish it right back at him.

To bring this to an end, he genuinely care's about his student's. He will give you all the feedback in the world you need to hear (constructed criticism) learn to accept it for the better or see him in person and argue as to why it may be wrong. Put your ego aside in this class and really learn to listen and better yourself.

Mike Fleming is truly passionate about making sure his students learn communication skills that we all will use in life at one point in time or another. He will take the time to talk with you regarding any issues you may have in his class. He does take awhile in returning graded papers back.

Professor Fleming cares about his students. I appreciated his input on papers. The group project is really difficult, especially if you haven't taken English 103. You need to be able to think critically, write well, and know how to prepare a presentation. This class will help you excel as you pursue your degree. So worth it.

Flemings lectures are great, he may look and sound intimidating but he isnt doing it on purpose. Fleming gives students the questions to the test before hand and doesnt give too much homework. You will need the book.

Professor Fleming is an amazing prof. Yes he is intimidating at first, but he is easy to talk to. One day in class we were discussing unhealthy relationships and he could sense that the topic needed to be discussed further so the class was spent sharing stories and getting advice about how to handle unhealthy relationships. 10/10 would recommend.

Professor Fleming, Has been my favorite Professor by far. He has changed my life as a student, I have taken him for four classes and even changed my major to communications. He is tough but you will learn at lot. Do not be late, read, and be ready to participate. He prefers to run his class as a large discussion. Always approachable for help.

Amazing professor! one of the best, attendance and PARTICIPATION in lectures is key. If you dont understand something, you have to acknowledge the issue and he will discuss it thoroughly. I took his hybrid class and his lectures were the highlight of my semester. I think the reason he has such a bad rep is because he's super matter-of-fact and playful, I think some people just mistake this for him being rude. It is a tough class, especially when its fast paced, but well worth it if you're interested in learning and doing the work.

He does grade off the paper guidelines. that is why you need to participate in class to understand the material and read the book. Ask questions. He will teach you to communicate and address problems in life and relationships. You do have quizzes. This course will challenge you on many levels; academic, personal, and professional. Fleming is strict but very compassionate. Professor Fleming is a passionate person but sometimes it seems aggressive and other times it makes you feel bonded. He talks a lot sometimes and does his best to give us life advice. The course material is a bit confusing sometimes. He hands back graded papers so you can calculate your grade and he submits grade at the end not throughout.

He is pretty strict, but only because it's important to do your work. There is a bit of reading, and you need to pay attention to his lectures, as he points out important information. If you do your work and don't fall behind, you will excel in this class.

Make sure to put in the work and give 100% and you will be just fine and learn so much!
