Teacher is very hard but willing to help, read chapters ahead of time and you'll do good. He appreciates the students that try hard to understand, ask lots of questions, see tutors, do lab time and you'll pass the class. You have to try inhis class, No free pass.
This instructor definitely gives you no free ride, but he teaches you. I learned quite a lot in his class. As long as you do the work, come to class, do required lab time, and participate you will do fine.
Teacher is extremely harsh in grading. Everything he says goes, he'll even change text in a book to fit his meanings and not the books. Although I learned a lot in his class, his critical pin-point grading ruined the experience for me.
He is very helpful. His midterm is really easy!!! If you do not understand something, just ask him!!!
Difficult instructor. Seems to have favorites in his class. Difficult to receive a grade higher than a C on papers even after correcting the mistakes he previously brought to your attention.
He definetely was clear with his assignments, and there was only 3 essays; he was firm and strict, but it is to be expected for Eng 1A
He definetely lets you know your mistakes, but he is very helpful, and there is only 3 essays that he helps you improve them in class
Took him in Spring 09, he was a VERY DIFFICULT professor: half of da class fail!! His grading was TOO harsh.
He's a hard teacher but he just wants the best for us. I learned a lot from him. But at the same time it was just confusing when he explained something. So just read a head and take a lot of notes!
I learned more from him than any other English teacher. He is a very interesting speaker and as long as you have good attendance you will pass.
I guarantee this guy makes you work harder than any other english 60A teacher, but 60A is an easy class. He makes you study and attend class and forces you to work hard to become a better writer. He is tough but the best english teacher around.
Very tough and firm professor and his essay processes may be discouraging, but his final is way too easy. Learned a lot.
His the best English teacher I had ever had! I learned so much from him from being my freshman teacher in hs to being my professor in college. He might be tough but he just wants the best out of his students. At longest you show up to class and participate in group discussions you'll do fine.
he was tough on grading and he often contradict himself. he wouldn't check your work unless its complete or if you didn't follow his instruction right its discouraging to ask him for help.
VERY STRICT, AND HE DID NOT EXPLAIN PROPERLY HOW TO SEND IN OUR ASSIGNMENTS VIA EMAIL...
He does not explain well. nice teacher but bad.
Instructor was so confusing.... he would say one thing and then another. Don't correct him. he has to be right. Pay attention, take notes. he is an interesting instructor but difficult too deal with.
He has a huge ego. Remember he is always right, for example he asks you to something-and you do it- but then he becomes pissed. Instead of saying "You told me to do that" (which will make him mad) Say "I'm sorry, I must have misunderstood" (he will be incredibly understanding) Other than that, show up, participate, and do your work. He is great!!!!
wish i never took this class, he was very hard, not understanding. Nothing was good enough for him. always left his class feeling defeated that i had to dropped. wish i would have read his ratings before i took anywho dont take him if your english is as bad as mine.
Overall he has an interesting method of teaching I did pick up a few good ideas. However, he must be always right, although you catch various mistakes he makes. He tries to push his beliefs and reasoning to students and fails to be comprehensive to students. I even had to transfer class to avoid his ignorance.
He is NOT A GREAT INSTRUCTOR DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS. HE IS VERY TOUGH AND DOES NOT ALLOW YOU TO ASK QUESTIONS AFTER HE MADE HIMSELF CLEAR
I wouldn't recommend this professor he is a pain in the ass, he wants everything perfect just the way he wants it if its not how he wants it easy 0 points. Take some other professor.
Ever Since Winter 2015 of Rcc had started. The instructor which right now has a very very solid accent voice. It's almost like he's ready to punch the wall. If no one doesn't do his homework, he get's pissed, or even slam the papers to intimidate the class.. Very tough instructor and wants the assignment 100% perfect. This is not honors class.
Professor fultz is a nice guy... sometimes. He can be stirck at times. Hes very irrational. He will tell you to do somehing, and the once you do, he will say it is wrong. Hes really confusin too. If you work with him, he'll work with you. He wastes alot of time in lecture.
Had him for 60A and 60B Tip: come to class and turn in ALL of your work on time. Late work unaccepted. He can be a tough grader and make you feel terrible about your writing skills, but he is willing to help you to improve yourself as a better writer. Remember turn in your work, and quizzes, and take your final, you should pass with at least a 80%.
helpful professor
Don't take his clases, he thinks his god, everything he does or say is writing in stone, even when he makes a mistake he says he did not made the mistake that it was the students fault. Very arrogant. Never accepts his errors. Stay away from this terrible man.
EGO comes short of what this professor really is. He will do anything to get his way.
He gives a ton of work and is a really strict grader because he wants it his way. However, he knows what he's talking about and I learned more than I thought I would in this class. Also, It actually amazed me that he can see dead words (words he doesn't want us to use) right off the bat on any paper. Helpful, but scary to approach in my opinion.
Even if you ask him to help you and he shows you how its supposed to be done, you will still get a bad grade. If you question his teaching, he will put you on blast in front of the class, theirs no pleasing this guy.
Highly do not recommend taking this course with this professor! He wrote on my essay he rather help another student. He's rude and don't correct him if he's wrong none of his classes like him
He's a great professor but if your lazy and have motivation dont take his class he goes through material quick but tells you the material over and over hes super funny and i took his winter class i loved !
The class will not be difficult if you just follow ALL instructions. He won't grade a paper if it is right and you must print everything on blackboard. However, his grammar lessons are very important if you plan on moving on to the next English class . He can be a bit rude sometimes during class but if you talk to him one on one he's chill.
Great instructor. You must attend class and be on time. Assignments must be completed and turned in when they are due. He always makes time to help students one-on-one if they as for help.
I found Professor Fultz to be challenging, but I learned a lot from him. He can be strict about following directions and turning in assignments, so do not take his course if you expect to kick back and do not do the work. If you really try, you will pass
Helpful instructor. I learned a lot, but you must attend and you must turn assignments in on time. Just go to class and try the assignments an you will pass. He will stay after class or meet with you after class if you need extra help.
People who are looking for an easy ride should not take Professor Fultz's courses. He can be a tough grader and strict about completing assignments and attending class. You must do the basics to pass: attend, do assignments, and study. I took English 60A and 60B with this instructor and learned a lot. I tried and was kind and helpful.
Some students just register in classes and expect credit. This will not happen with this instructor. I took his English 60A class in fall. I learned a lot. You do have to work. You have to come to class, go to the WRC, do assignments and turn them in when they are due. If you register just for credit, it won't work with this instructor.
Grades kind of tough, but I learned a lot. You must come to class and turn work in on time. He also makes you read and follow directions. Go to class, try the assignments, and get WRC help and you will do fine.
One word to describe him is rude. He makes you feel dumb if you don't get what he's teaching right away
You will have to work, but you will learn. Go to class, do assignments on time, and participate and you will pass. He does not have an office, but will stay after class to help you and will come early before class to help if you ask him. I learned a lot from this guy.
He is a serious instructor and expects students to be serious. You have to listen and take good notes. He expects you to study outside of class and will give extra help. He does not try to make you feel bad about your writing but if he says see a lab instructor or tutor for help on something, try to do it. He helped me be a better student.
Challenging, but definitely has important instruction. Try to do what is asked, ask for help when you need it, and go to every class meeting and you should easily pass the course.
I took his winter 2017 English 60A course. He was tough, but very helpful. I learned a lot. I did not really try in high school, but he made me really try and it paid off for me. You have to do the work and attend class. Listen and really try to follow his instructions. He does not like telling you over and over to do the same thing.
Professor Fultz really cares about his students, but you have to really work hard and attend class regularly. He can be a tough grader, but he really wants students to learn and to get ready for writing in college. He will always help you if you ask for help. I learned a lot from him and I worked for it. Great professor!
Excellent instructor, but you must attend class and complete assignments on time. Late work is not accepted. You must come to class totally prepared with a book and handouts you must print from Blackboard. He will stay after class to give you help if you ask for extra help. Just try your very best.
Great instructor; I am learning a lot during this summer session I am studying with him. He can be a tough grader, but he really expects you to use what you are learning in your writing assignments. Attend class and do assignments on time and you should do okay. I like this instructor.
Took him this past summer. Everything seemed to move fast maybe because of the six week session. He is strict about following directions and you must show that you have learned the grammar and punctuation he has taught. Come to class and take good notes and stay after class and he will help you. I learned a lot from this instructor.
You must attend class, submit assignments on time, and ask for help. He is very willing to help you and offer suggestions about writing your essays. If he tells you to see a tutor, he expects you to do so. Just really try and you will succeed, but do not play games. He does not accept excuses for not completing assignments and absences.
He is NOT an easy class at all. He is a professor that believes there is always something to fix with your writing. BEWARE. He will tell you part of your essay is good, but then he will criticize that same excerpt the next session. He does that over and over again. Constructive criticism is great but he takes it to whole new level.
Not for the faint of heart. I dont recommend this professor. Personally I work best with constructive criticism but this professor doesnt fit that criteria. He is extremely strict on grading so if there is one thing missing he will not give any credit. Being absent or late will only be tolerated 2x so it will be hard to take sick days
This is not an easy class and this instructor is not easy. You will work and if you do, you will learn. I have improved in a lot of areas because this instructor will not simply permit you to skate through. He is willing to help, but you must do the work. Very good instructor and great class discussions.
hardest proffesor i have ever taken but honestly you will learn A LOT. His class seems impossible to pass at first but as long as you try and turn most of the work in you'll be fine. Also dont miss class because an assignment is due everyday. Very critical but he genuinely wants his students to learn.
No nonsense instructor. Attend class and do the assignments. He will help you if you ask, and he seems to really appreciate students who seek help and seem to care about really learning. He was absent only once the entire semester and is always on time. He really expects the same from students.
If you would like a professor that is going o challenge you I would recommend taking the class. He will look very closely at your work. And don't take his wording suggestions when it comes to your paper because when he grades it he'll continue to say it's wordy or illogical. He will not forgive your MLA boo-boos
Very strict grader, always feels there is room for improvement. If he sees you are working hard he will most likely pass you but I would not recommend.
BEWARE!! Hardest professor Ive ever took. He is a VERY thought grader and a strict teacher. He thinks only his answers are right. Lots of homework
Some of the comments I have read make no sense. A teacher is supposed to challenge students and encourage them to make a real effort. Fultz does just that. Don't take his class if your aren't serious about improving your writing and if expect a free ride. If you attend class, participate, and seriously try you will learn and succeed.
I asked for extra help with my grammar and I received no feedback on what I could do to practice or watch out for, in fact I was taken back by the sarcasm in his response. Professors are supposed help students that want to improve, not ridicule and shame them for asking help. What he said was completely rude and incredibly discouraging. Avoid him.
He can be a tough grader, but if you study and attend class, he will help you when you ask. It's a university transferable class, so expect to work and study hard. He does not like people who don't do work on time or who miss class a lot.
Yes, Professor Fultz is a tough grader but that is only because he is super detailed when he lectures. He gives so much that he expects just the same. I think everyone can do well if they listen to his clear instructions and meet up with him after class.
He is a very tough professor. Attendance is mandatory because every day there will be something new. If you miss deadlines you better do good in future assignments. As long as you do literally everything he says you will pass, otherwise you won't. He will criticize your essays a lot. One moment it is good and then bad(all in the same essay)
This is a real college class. If you go to class and do your assignments on time, you will do fine in the class. He also likes for students to participate. Don't play games; try to do the work and ask for help. He is very willing to help, but don't try get over on him. It won't work.
Grades tough, but you learn. He does not take late work, so turn your work in on time and go to every class meeting. Try and ask him to help you and you should get a good grade in the class.
Fultz expects you to do what he said to be done. There are 5 papers that you would have to do for the rest of the semester. There's a midterm/a final. The midterm and the final are pretty straightforward. He lets you use notes, handouts, and exercises on the midterm and final. For his essays, he wants his body paragraphs to be around 175-200 words.
Excellent instructor, he tells you what he expects and will offer you help if you ask for it. He is willing to help students succeed, but they must make a serious effort. Dont try to get over on this professor; it just wont work. He is one of the best English instructors I have ever had.
I learned a great deal and really improved my writing. There is no free ride, you must try to do what is asked, attend class, and meet deadlines. Do not just enroll and expect a good grade!
Very good instructor. Yeah, he has page number requirements for essays and word count parameters for the support paragraphs. There are four required papers, and one (the final one) is a research paper. He is so helpful; all you have to do is ask for help and set a time to meet him for extra help. Just try your best and do ALL assignments.
Very good instructor. Can be strict in his grading of essays, but he is clear about what he expects and offers extra help whenever a student asks for it. Attend class a really try and you will do well.
He is really one of the worst professors ever really. He talks about how we are not high school students anymore and we should not act like it, Although he still treats us as we are. If you have a valid excuse as to why you could not do an assignment he will say, "Tough luck that is life." Also get ready for the phrase "Are you with me?"
This professor will tear you down mentally, and being in a tough space as a young person, you dont need this guys antics. His grading scale is absolutely ridiculous, if a sentence isnt built how he thinks, you may argue for half of the class. I feel like he drove me insane, and I cant tell if the other students made it alright cause I left ASAP
If youre absent he WILL NOT help you. He only thinks his way is correct when it comes to a paper. marks you down for even using a word he doesnt like even if that word would be correct. Had his help and he told me to rewrite something in his way(even told me what to write) but when I turned it in, it got marked down cause he didnt like it.
Class switched to online because of Covid-19. It was tough to meet on line at first. After mid-term only 3 online regular meetings were scheduled; we had to schedule individual meetings for help on final research paper. Work online MUST be done; he will give individual help if asked. I have learned a lot. Really good instructor.
Some of the comments about this instructor are UNFAIR. Some students were absent a lot and missed key information. They would come to class unprepared. I was bothered because our first assignment was a group assignment and my partner was absent a lot. The instructor offers a lot of help, even after class. Just do your work, try, and pass!
He is a tough grader. Was surprised with how many sarcastic remarks when making comments on paper. Seem to not really respects the student and think that he is superior. He marks things down for the SMALLEST things. Not sure if he means to, but when hes making online comments or talking to you, he can come out as very rude.
DO NOT take this professor if you're not ready to work. Extremely tough grader and sometimes hard to keep up with. Some of his online comments made on my paper sounded very rude and degrading. He find anything and everything for you to fix. No matter how long and hard you work on it, it will never be good in his eyes
Ehh. He's not that great. Something about the way he speaks to the class seems like he thinks we're not good enough. Tough grader for sure and makes you work really hard for your grade. Can be rude sometimes
He is so contradicting. I've done everything he has said to do and taken all his advice, still failed my papers. I had multiple meetings with him about my papers before turning them in and he still left comments saying they needed work. If you don't follow what he wants for your essays, he nags you.
VERY tough class but this is because he is an ACTUAL PROFESSOR. He will teach you and will ask you to stay after class to help you. However, he is absolutely ruthless with the grading and will critique every flaw no matter how minor. If you hate yourself but truly want to learn, this is your guy. That being said, I don't recommend.
He is the WOREST PROF. if you struggle he will help at the first few time and then he will say you gotta get help from the WRC lab. The communication with him is so bad he gets angry very fast in fact, your questions or answers is calm and respectful that doesn't mean anything to him. alot of stress, anger, disrespectful. DONT TAKE HIM PERIOD!.
Professor Fultz is an absolutely no nonsense lecturer; do not take his class and think you will get an easy A. However, his class enhances English skills more than MANY other instructors. He will challenge you to be the best writer possible. Because of him, I was able to become confident in my skills and be an English tutor as a Psych major.
Fultz's tough grading made the course challenging. While initially helpful, he exhibited impatience when seeking clarification, creating an uncomfortable atmosphere. Despite grasping the material, his reluctance to assist and redirection to WRC deterred further inquiries. Tutor feedback suggested my work met expectations.
Fultz was a very tough professor
