Extremely high energy, smart, funny guy and genuinely cares about students getting the knowledge they need. It's a difficult class because he wants you to internalize and gain insight and an attention to detail that's going to be life or death in medical careers.
I REALLY enjoyed Dr. G's class. I will be taking his 21B class in the spring and am looking forward to it. This class does take commitment, you need to be prepared to read the chapters as they're being discussed in class. Participation and attendance and very important if you want to learn and do well. Dr. G is always happy to help with questions!
Dr. G is fantastic. He is high energy, thorough, and a great instructor. Science classes are hard so be ready to work in this class and you can do great. I really enjoyed all of his lectures and this class is preparing me for my future in medicine. Don't skip class and read the textbook. I highly recommend Dr. G if you are serious about learning.
He's a spectacular instructor and wants his students to learn but omg there is a lot of reading, critical thinking, and I hope you have a great memory for this huge work load. He makes this class fun and although it's tough.
BEST CLASS EVER!! It is rare to be able to enjoy a tough science course, but Dr. G really makes the experience ONE OF A KIND! He's full of energy and enthusiasm-- he TEACHES students and doesn't just depend on boring conventional powerpoints. No surprises during tests/exams. Feel free to discuss any concerns with him. Take his class, NO REGRETS.
Dr. G is very energetic and will keep you engaged in the lectures and labs. He is a tough grader, so expect to study and don't take the class lightly. You can get a good grade, but you will definitely have to put the effort in for it. His tests are weighted so be sure to take the opportunity to get additional help in the BioGrasp sessions.
Dr G. is a great professor! His class is challenging and you will be expected to do a good amount of studying on your own, but he is very fair and available to help when you need it. Not an easy A, but you will learn a lot if you engage in the course. His experience in the field really shows. Highly recommend to anyone going into medicine.
Good professor. Must be very self motivated to kick ass in this class.
This professor is without a doubt an amazing one. I took his Anatomy & Physiology I & II (21 A & B) course. I went into this class with a background in biology (i.e. I already had obtained a B.S. in Biology). I can honestly say that I learned more in his courses than I did in a lot of my undergraduate courses. His tests are no joke; study hard.
Dr. G, is one of the best teachers I have ever had. I took him for two semesters and honestly feel like I learned a lot. He beyond amazing at explaining such difficult subject, yet makes it so possible. Be prepare to work very hard and this class will be great. He will bend backwards on his lectures and does not mind reexplaining anything you miss.
Dr. G, is one of the best teachers I have ever had. I took him for two semesters and honestly feel like I learned a lot. He beyond amazing at explaining such difficult subject, yet makes it so possible. Be prepare to work very hard and this class will be great. He will review, help in any way.
Dr. G is a very animated and fun. Very knowledgeable and enjoys what he does. He is willing to help if you don't understand, but don't expect a easy pass. He expects a lot from his students and is willing to help you if you put in the effort. He offers NO! extra credit, but if you participate he will bump a few points your way.
Dr. G is a tremendous help. I visit him during BIOGrasp and he is extremely helpful and great at breaking down material. He is energetic and makes you want to learn and he makes sure you know the information before you leave the room.
Dr. G is such a great instructor. I have learned so much in his class and would recommend him to anyone pursuing a career in the medical field. Dr. G wants you to learn and will do everything in his power to make sure you understand. Don't be fooled, the class is challenging but well worth it in the end.
Background: I'm a post-bac with a bio degree. This is a tough 2 semester class and the level of knowledge goes deep. Pro-tip: attend all classes and regularly review your notes. I can confidently say that Dr. G is the best lecturer I've had in my college career; extremely interesting and nearly impossible to not stay engaged. Great class.
Great teacher will really go the extra mile to help you understand. Tests are very hard, they are over several chapters at a time. No extra credit given. Biograsps is offered and he is in there to help.
Awesome instructor! Dr. G is respectful and does a lot to help the students understand and remember. These two classes are hard but what isnt? Do not slack off, take good notes, and read.
Dr. G is hands down the best professor I have ever had. He knows the subject matter and he expects you to work for your grade, but he is very fair. The work you put in is the grade you will receive. None the less his classes are a lot of fun and he is willing to help you by explaining anything you are having trouble understanding.
pop quiz every chapter, 4 Exam, 2 Test. (vice-versa, I forgot), and a research paper on medicine. Hard on grading because he basically have his own grading system. Pass with a low C, but my percent was a 85%. However, love the way he teach bc you will learn physiology. Learned a lot from his class but wldnt take his class again bc it's stressful
Tough Professor. So much info was thrown all at once. Each exam consisted of like 5 chapters and sometimes he would test us on something we learned the day before. His grading system was unfair in my opinion, you could get an 85% overall in the class but still end up with a C depending on how you did on the final. Dr G does his best to help though.
Dr. G is an all around great professor. I recently took my TEAS and scored an overall 91.3% with a 93.6% in the science section. I did not study a bit for science because I was extremely prepared for it from taking A&P 1 and 2 with Dr. G. Take Dr. G if you need a very competitive science score to get into your first choice program.
Dr. Mike made taking biology exciting and fun. He has an amazingly charismatic personality that lights up the room. You can tell he loves to teach and he cares about his students learning. He's engaging, knowledgable, and gets everybody involved. If you want to really have fun and learn at the same time, this is the man to take!
LOVED THIS CLASS!!! I've taken A&P a handful of times, and this has been the absolute best one! Dr. G is really good at getting the information out in a way that is easily understood and easily remembered. Plus he's super entertaining! His class literally made my semester. And he's British! Everything sounds better with a British accent!
Dr. G is a great professor. I have learned so much from him compared to all of my past teachers. He teaches in a way that is easily understood. No surprises on the test if you listen during lecture/lab and do your part by studying! Im glad I had him for this class because it was not easy to get the A. I recommend him 100%!
High energy, Dr. G. kept me interested every step of the way. Consistent and down to earth. Hilarious too. Go to class and take notes. Communication is key.
This is the most enthusiastic professor I have ever had. This course was way better at the city college than at Fresno State. Obviously this course is hard and you need to study regardless, but he makes it easy to learn and follow and makes you like what you are learning. He is dope!
Professor Gilbert is a great instructor. Easy to work with and he makes learning the subject fun and exciting. He makes Anatomy and Physiology seem so easy. Hes funny and sometimes silly, but a great professor nonetheless. Ive truly enjoyed his Bio21 A&B classes. I highly recommend him if youre planning on majoring in health science, nursing, etc.
Dr. G is an incredible professor!! Lectures are actually fun which helps you retain the information I will definitely miss this class.
Good teacher. I had fun in his math class
If you're taking Biol21 A/B, Dr. Gilbert is the best professor to take it with. The class is definitely not easy, but if you attend lecture and put in study time then you'll do great! Dr. G really makes lecture fun and interactive. The way he teaches makes the material stick. If you want to genuinely learn, Dr. G's class is where the money is!
I always looked forward to Dr. G's class. They were very informative and helped a better understanding on the subjects. I wish other instructors had the same energy and dynamic Dr. G. had! Reading the book beforehand is helpful, look at the models, do lab reports!
Fantastic learning environment. His energy is so high, your attention is held captive.
Dr.G is an amazing professor. I understand that some might say that he is hard, but for the specific classes, anatomy and physiology, all the teachers are hard. He makes his classes fun and only talks about things that you need to know for the test. His tests are different though, the lab and lecture are combined into one test. Ask for a word bank.
Dr. G is very passionate about anatomy and physio. He genuinely cares about each student leaning the material. No matter who you take anatomy and physiology with it is a hard subject to teach, but if you actually want to lean the material take it with him. Read the chapters before class lecture and show up everyday for class participation pts!
Do NOT take this course unless you have very recently taken BIO5 and CHEM5. There are a lot of sections in each chapter that he does not go over/review at all, which he calls directed study. You are expected to have learned and remembered this material from previous courses. Not much multiple choice questions. He likes fill in and oral questions.
Dr. G is by far one of the BEST educators I've had the experience of learning from in my educational career. He will put any effort you ask into helping you pass the class. It's by no means an easy A, but he makes the subject interesting, and easier to process. If you manage to get into one of his classes, it'll be well worth your time.
Amazing professor! He made a very hard class enjoyable and understandable. He does everything to help his student. He will answer any question you have no matter when. He gives a lot of assignments, so you can get points outside of the midterm and final. Highly recommend this professor to anyone who is ready to learn.
One of the best upper level science professors I've had. He is very understanding, and is willing to work with you through any conflict. You have to be attentive in class because he has extra slides that he will insert and will emphasize the material you will be tested on. Make sure to ask questions (for personal confusion and what's on the test).
I absolutely would not take physiology and anatomy from any one else. So glad I opted to take these courses from Dr. Gilbert. He's fun/ny, helpful, and he really does care about his students. Of course the work isn't easy, no class like this should be, however he does his very best to make sure the students are learning the material.
Dr. G is one of the BEST educators Ive had the privilege of learning from. The class isnt easy, but its more then just doing work. Because of how his class is structured, a passing grade means you fully comprehend the material. Just make sure to NOT leave the clinical for the last minute!
Dr. G is the best instructor I've had so far, the communication is amazing, He is highly intelligent, knowledgeable, and hilarious as well. He makes every student feel special no more and no less. He cares about the progress of his students, I also, recommend his office hours lots of KNOWELEDGE. I would've of loved the face-face class even better.
Hes British- no extra credit in his classes. Expect written quizzes about once a week in lecture and oral quizzes in lab. Midterm and final is going to be 3 essay questions that you get to select from a list. Despite what grade you get on Canvas, you still need a certain score on the two exams to keep that grade. Is a tough grader but he does care
Dr. G is a great instructor who is willing to motivate you to pass his class. Pay attention to his lectures, be prepared for oral quiz's during labs, & quiz's on lecture day's. Go to his office hours if you have any questions & don't be afraid to ask in class because there is always someone else who has the same question. He enjoys the questions.
I will definitely miss this 2 semester sequence class. Dr. G's lectures were fun and very engaging. He is a caring professor who will do everything he can to make sure you understand. His exams are not a surprise. Study what he lectures. If he stays on one topic to make sure everyone understands, you better study it because it'll be on the exam.
Dr. G has been an amazing instructor for bio 21A&B. The oral quizzes and group activities definitely made me feel like I wasn't alone. His feedbacks are pretty fair as he wants his students to improve and succeed. Don't be afraid to asks questions as well! If I had the opportunity to take Dr. G in a face to face class, I would have done it so!
Dr. G is an awesome professor, one of my favs by far. He is very knowledgeable and is willing to help his students succeed. This course is not easy work, as expected, but Dr. G does a great job at making learning fun and interactive. Ask questions in class and take advantage of his office hours. I highly recommend this class if you want to learn.
Anatomy and Physiology is a tough class no matter who you take it with. Dr. Gilbert is there to put in the work with you to make learning easier if you are willing to put in the work yourself. He is extremely approachable and gives great feedback if you are unclear of a topic. If you need to take this class, I highly recommend taking it with him!
I highly recommend Dr.G for Bio 21B. Dr.G is the first professor that I took 2 times in a row. He is also my favorite professor so far. As an international student, my English is not as good as another classmates. But Dr.G is very patient to listen to me, he even spent a lot of time after class to explain multiple times to make sure I understand.
Loved taking Professor Gilberts class. It was 100% online. The flow of his class with lecture+lab was very easy to attend. His manual was not hard at all and materials used can be used for 2 semesters which is very nice. I appreciated how if he knew you werent getting something, hed find a way to explain no matter how long. Take his classes!
To get an A: going to lecture is key, he'll drop hints on upcoming exam questions Turn in all online assignments and most importantly of all, do very well on your Exams, they account for 60 percent of your grade. 3-5 esay style questions per exam that are answered in the form of paragraph explanation. Ex: "Relate structure to function": etc
Dr. G is a wonderful teacher that utilizes groups to help with our comprehension and learning. He answers all questions to the best of his ability and is very clear with expectations. Since there are only two exams(writing heavy), they matter a lot for your grade, but he works to help improve your grade and understanding.
Dr. Gilbert is probably my favorite professor throughout college. He is willing to help students understand anything that is in the textbook, quizzes, and exams. He is also very enthusiastic about Anatomy and Physiology which helps us learn because he is able to hold your attention. I would retake his class a million times over!
Take detailed notes, the more the better. When the chapter was being lecture I would write down questions and answer them, then attend student hours to discuss the material. Yes this is a challenging class but it is worth it. Dr. G is willing to help you understand the material, you have to put the effort. Read the textbook don't be lazy.
I would take Dr. Gilbert's class for a third semester if I could. I always felt excited to go to class and that what I would learn would be important and applicable to life. If you can find a seat, absolutely take the class. Be ready to take notes!
I would recommend taking Dr. G for sequence. This class can be difficult, so make sure to read the textbook and take good notes because you can use these for the exams. His exams aren't too bad just make sure you do the practice questions that he provides because he wants very detailed answers. If you put in the time/effort you will do well.
Dr.G is a great professor! He really makes sure that everyone understands the material and does not let you feel alone. Make sure to take great notes and do the study guide questions! (all of them) as they will help you with exams. Read the textbook before class starts! it helps with understanding the material in class!
Dr. Gilbert is an amazing professor who cares about students and is really funny! Lots of quizzes, but they are always planned, and are usually group quizzes. 2 open note exams with essay questions only. Go to lectures and do all the homework: the online MAP software is a pain, but tolerable. Labs were actually fun, and lectures were engaging!
This was my second time having Dr. Gilbert as a professor. The class itself is extremely difficult and the tests are challenging. He is amazing when it comes to helping students out and giving feedback. Be ready to study and ask questions.
Prof.Gilbert is a caring instructor that wants students to do well. Be prepared to study after class. The two exams account for 60 percent of grade. You won't pass if you don't attend class. Understanding concepts right down to step to step physiology will help you pass the class. Rely on your peers and help each other.
Dr Gilbert in my opinion is the best teacher! He is always willing to work with you when life happens, and is very kind and understanding. He WANTS you to succeed, but you do have to work hard for your grades. He wants you to know more then just the text explanations but wants you to KNOW the material in your own words. He allows notes in exams.
in the RT program and the level of education and the learning and studying skills i learned and applied in class. Most importantly the Anatomy & Phys i learned in classes is helping me apply and learn in the RT program. I find myself oh I remember that from Dr. Gilbert while other students who took other professors say they never learned that.
A couple of assignments due every Sunday. Very passionate about subject and cares about students. Very nice and funny. Difficult exams. Essay type questions and is a very tough grader. But he lets you use your notes for exams, so it is important to have thorough notes. Lectures are very important so don't miss class! He is also very understanding.
Dr. G is an amazing professor! He is very understanding and cares about his students. His study guides for his exams are very helpful and he always lets you know when there is a quiz coming up. Try not to miss class, because he says important stuff during lecture. As long as you're on top of your notes and work before class you'll be fine!
Dr. G is a fantastic professor, he is a tough grader because he wants significant physiology detail about the topic. However, with his class you will learn and UNDERSTAND the anatomy and physiology of the body! He is the best and I recommend his class to anyone who is serious about a career in healthcare! (his personality is great too!)
This was my first time having Dr. Gilbert as a professor.Exams are essay formed and challenging, however it is opened notes. He is great when it comes to giving feedback on exams. Also very understanding on assignment if they are late and will meet you in the middle depending on the situation. Be ready to study and take good/detailed notes.
Dr. G is a great teacher that values actual learning. He is really enthusiastic about teaching and wants you to succeed. You will learn a lot in this class! It is a hard class and you have to go beyond the class time and study on your own however Dr. G is reasonable and does listen to student input.
Dr. G is a phenomenal teacher. He is honest, encouraging, and will do his best to make sure everyone understands. He is a challenging grader and expects your best, but will walk with you to help you get there. If I could take him again, I would. He's very fun, energetic, and makes a daunting subject easier to digest. I definitely recommend!
It is usually hard to enjoy such a dense course. But classes felt super short every time. The environment is great in labs as well. He just has a way of making it not feel dreadful. But he is a tough grader and he wants to make sure you actually understand everything. So if you are looking for an easy grade, do not take him.
Dr G is very lecture heavy however he goes over all the information and allows for questions. The work and effort you put in is extremely important. The more detail you are the better grade you get so ask tons of questions.
Has amazing dance moves. Lectures got a bit confusing but would come together in the end. Very understanding and chill. And he is British!!
Professor Gilbert is a great professor, I would recommend really listening during lectures and what he is saying, especially if he repeats the information again and again. He is also a professor that wants you to be successful, but you should be willing to ask questions, because he will help.
His grading made the class harder than it had to be (test question asked for definition and I got marked for not adding an example?!) Written exams, tests, and quiz's with little to no extra credit opportunities. FCC has amazing professors, highly recommend oversighting this one. Had an awful and discouraging experience.
Although his class may be difficult, he provides a lot of assistance to students who reach out to him. I really enjoyed the in class discussions where we could talk to our partners who provided different inputs. He also does amazing drawings which help to visually see movements of ions go in/out of cells. Bio Grasp helped a lot to clarify H.W.
Dr.G is a great teacher. The lectures are engaging and helpful, most times you will be talking to the people around you during lectures to make sure you understand material. He does sometimes go over important topics quickly. His labs are also enagaing some are heavier than others. The exams and tests aren't too bad (can use YOUR NOTES on exams).
While very caring and wants students to be successful, he does not clearly state what he means by "explain in detail", making exams and lab reports tough to complete accurately. Very enthusiastic during lectures, however very difficult to follow along so you must study on your own in order to pass the class. ETC and extra tutoring is a must.
This is not an easy class to take but Dr.Gilbert makes it much more managable. The homework load isn't too heavy. Tests are not multiple choice and exams are open note. He cares about his students and tries hard to ensure everyone is understanding the material. I'm glad I took this class with Dr. Gilbert.
Very passionate teacher who loves what he does. homework is a lot but very easy and always due at the end of the week. quizzes are honestly easy and you always know when you're having one come up. Exams are open note just make sure you answer thoroughly
Dr. Gilbert is an amazing instructor whose enthusiasm and love for teaching really made the process much more enjoyable. Lecture is crucial, and get ready to go the extra mile for participation credit, but overall felt the homework and studying load given to be reasonable. I'm really grateful I took physiology with him.
He is very enthusiastic and does his best to make lectures less boring. You can use your notes on EXAMS not tests. His test and exams are not multiple choice. He is very understanding if you communicate to him. Offers no extra credit. Overall it is possible to pass this class with extra help from outside the classroom.
Difficult course in general. Be sure to attend ALL his classes and ETC. Will need to study about 8 hours a week to fully understand the material. Allows notes on the 2 exams he has. Tough grader, is very strict on "detail." NO extra credit but he is generous when you need extensions on assignments.
Professor Gilbert is very straightforward and a tough grader on tests, exams and lab reports. He will expect you to know your material since we do have class discussions and quizzes. Even though it is a difficult class, he is very understanding, has a good sense of humor, and always willing to meet for office hours. Be ready to work hard and study!
Dr. Gilbert is very accommodating as long as you communicate your problems with him. His class is very lecture heavy and goes through them pretty fast so be prepared. He also doesn't post his slides so take pictures. His tests are pretty reasonable and his exams are essay questions. Other than that he made the class as enjoyable as it could be.
Professor Gilbert is a great instructor who wants his students to understand the material and he does a lot of activities in class that help with clarifying topics. His test and exams are VERY detailed. This is not an easy course to take but Dr. G makes learning difficult topics easier to comprehend.
Physiology is a tough class overall but Dr. Gilbert will help in anyway he can as long as you reach out to him. It's good to NOT miss lectures because there's a lot of information and he gives out key points for tests and exams. Detail your notes! He also makes labs fun with group discussions and group quizzes.
This class was amazing, definitely difficult. It is critical to do the MAP, it will help you if you finish them before the lectures. Dr. G is an amazing instruction. Be prepared to work hard for your grade. Write down all the notes you can. Although this class is difficult, it is an amazing class, because you will learn a lot.
Dr. G is amazing to work with. He wants his students to succeed and provide all tools necessary to ensure they do. He is helpful and understanding of circumstances that may arise. I had an emergency, and Dr. G was super kind in letting me make up my assignments when I could mentally handle them. Grading is test-heavy but helps prepare you for it.
3 tests and 2 exams. The tests were harder for me given that there is no study guide available to guide you through the tests. Dr. G wants everyone to succeed and pass his class, he actually cares. I would recommend devoting plenty of time to study and to stay on top of all assignments because there is so much material to cover.
Dr. Gilbert makes this class truly enjoyable and interesting. He truly wants all his students to succeed and goes out of his way to help you succeed. But with that being said, this is not an easy class and the material is dense. If you TRULY wanna learn, 11/10 would recommend.
DR.Gilbert is one of amazing instructors that I have taken. He care for his students. He wants you to understand the topics that he goes over. If you still don't understand it he has biograsp which helped me alot because he explained topics that I didn't understand very well, in another way where I understood it.
Dr. G is great he always focuses on helping his students achieve the grade they deserve.
Bio-22 is a very difficult class, but Dr.G makes the material fun and entertaining. In his class all his test/exam are free response not multiply choice. Only on the exam is it open notes. Dr.G is very easy to get a hold of, he has office hours, bio grasp, and stays after class. I loved his class, just be ready to take real good notes. 10/10 !!!
Dr. G is an amazing professor. Given how difficult this subject already is, he finds a to carefully present lessons in a way that was easy to digest and understand. Great lecturer with an amazing sense of humor that keeps you engaged on tough topics. Steady homework load. Very approachable. He wants you to succeed but you have to put in the work.
His grading is very strict. Be prepared to study 8+ hours with him.
He is overall a good professor, but the class is just a lot of work. There is a lot of pair discussions and groupwork.
He is such an amazing teacher. Physiology is a hard subject, so as expected the class was challenging because of the material. However Dr. G does a great job at breaking down everything. If you are ever struggling on a topic he is there to help. Ask questions! He is really passionate about what he teaches and cares for the success of his students.
Bio 22 is hard overall although Mr.Gilbert makes his class to where you understand the information. He makes you put the work in to retain the knowledge. There 3 test and 2 exams overall they are a bit overwhelming. He is a good professor who is very understanding.
This is an excellent class for both anatomy and physiology. The tests are open note, so make sure you take good notes while in lectures and labs. Also, make sure to study for the scheduled quizzes. He goes into great detail during the lectures which helps with understanding and retaining the information.
There are only 2 exams in the semester. The work load is not too bad but there are many quizzes. If you study and pay attention you will pass the quizzes. I really like how he lets us work in groups or w/ a partner for some and if we do them alone we can work with someone after to help add some extra points to any questions we got wrong.
Dr. G. is very helpful when you don't understand something. He will keep explaining in different ways until you do understand it.
Dr. G is an excellent professor. Some things to know about the class are there are only 2 exams so it is very important to study and take as many notes as possible, one other thing is there are many quizzes but he lets you partner up with people to get a better score. Dr. G also makes it a point to review things more than once if needed.
Dr. Gilbert keeps lecture very interesting. The discussions always flow very well, which is so helpful when it comes to understanding the material. He is very passionate about what he is teaching. This is a tough subject, but having a great Professor like Dr. Gilbert will help you succeed if you put in the effort. Great class. 100% recommend!
Dr. G is a great professor. His tests are fill in the blanks and exams are written. His grading system is quite different from other professors and he is a tough grader. Overall he is very helpful and will do his best to help his students understand the material.
Dr. G is a great professor! He make the lectures fun and engaging. There are only 2 test and he lets you use your notes. There is at least 1 quiz a week and it can be in either lecture or lab, sometimes you get a partner. The homework for the class is the lab report for that week and Mastering A&P assignments all due on Sundays at 9:00.
He is very helpful when it comes to the work. He works with you as long as you communicate with him. He's really good about getting back to e-mails in a promptly matter. When it comes to answering questions for homework or tests, you have to be as specific as possible providing a lot of details or you will get points taken off.
Professor G is awesome! He takes the time to repeat something that you might not have understood. When you ask questions, he never makes you feel dumb about it. There are 2 written exams in total. For the most points, make sure your responses are really detailed. READ the chapter before the lecture. You won't regret choosing this professor!
Dr. G is very helpful but this is a tough subject. He is very passionate about what he is teaching. There are only 2 written exams. Make sure all your responses are very well detailed for both mastering A&P assignments and lab reports which are ALL due on Sundays at 9:00pm. Make sure to read the chapter before lectures and ask questions!
I really enjoy his class, and loves the way he does teach it to the students. Biology is never boring or dull, no matter how complex the subject may be. He finds ways to make the class interesting and entertaining. Just don't forget to study, and you'll do great!
Dr. G is a brilliant Professor! His lectures are outstanding and he explains the materials so well which makes it easily understandable. He's a tough grader, so make sure to study hard and explain your answers well on tests. There are a few in-class quizzes and 2 written exams. Take good notes during lecture because both of the exams are open note.
Dr. Gilbert is an amazing professor! You could tell from the first day that he loves his job and wants his students to be prepared for their future medical careers. He keeps lectures fun and interesting. By far my favorite course I've taken.
Amazing professor! He engages the class a lot, he is available outside of class, if you miss class he is accommodating. I finally understand anatomy and he makes it fun and pretty clear. Would definitely recommend this professor as he teaches pretty clearly!
Dr. Gilbert is an amazing professor, his lectures are always fun to be in and the material explained in lectures is very understandable. But lectures are just an overview of the overall material that you need to study on your own. Self-study is extremely important. As a bonus, you get to learn from saitama, so you'll for sure be the strongest.
To say Dr. G is amazing would be an understatement. Lectures are intense, but breaks down hard material into comprehensible pieces. You must have time to dedicate to this class to be successful. 3 tests which are write in and 2 exams which are essay formatted. Study, study study! No means an easy class, but Dr. G makes it fun and interactive.
What an amazing professor. He is very understanding and honest.
Great Professor, he loves what he does. Physio is not an easy class but he makes it interesting during lectures. He is a tough grader. Not much homework. All exams and tests are written, no multiple choice.
Dr.G is the best professors in the sense that he cares for each student. Although, his cons are that he goes through lectures really fast, writes bad, and its hard to keep up with the notes and when he teaches. He does have great pros as in he will give you the chance to make up missing work, explain to you what you can do better and hears you out.
Dr. Gilbert is a great professor! He provides a safe and effective learning environment. Although this class is difficult, Dr. Gilbert is clear and precise with his teaching to give all of his students the best learning opportunities possible. I definitely recommend Dr. Gilbert as a professor!
Dr. G is an amazing professor. You have to work for the grade you want, but he will provide you with the material you need to pass. His teaching overall is very interactive, so if you are a hands-on or visual learner, take his class. He is one of the very few teachers that consistently had my undivided attention throughout the whole class session.
Be ready to put in the work.
Dr. Gilbert is a good professor. I learned so much in his class. Even though his class is difficult, if you put in the work and effort then you would get a good grade. In lecture he talks fast, but if you ask him to repeat it. He doesn't mind at all. He is very nice and understandable.
Dr. G is by far the best professor that I've taken at fcc. The material is a bit tough, but he makes class enjoyable, works with you outside of class if needed, and is very organized. I 100% recommend.
Professor Gilbert is amazing. His lectures are unlike any professor I have had. He truly wants his students to understand and participate. He breaks things down and demonstrates incredibly well and will try different methods. However, most the time you will not know your grade. Also the textbook which I did not find very helpful in exams.
Dr. G is so awesome! He gives amazing, entertaining lectures and gets the class motivated and involved. He is very organized and understanding. There were only 2 open note written exams, but there were several closed note small quizzes for credit. He really takes pride in teaching and accepts new ideas to help the learning process. Take his class!
This class is ok, but he is a picky grader. He want answers top be specific. Tests and exams are all write in questions.
He is an amazing teacher and is very helpful to students when they need help. The knowledge that he gives is worth the sessions. It is important to know when quizzes are and the deadline for each assignment is 9pm, not 11:59pm so if you forget and remember at night time you have assignments you may realize too late that you forgot to turn it in!
Dr.G is very good at his teachings. He acts out certain topics to help us remember. Attending lectures is best because he doesn't post his slides onto Canvas. 3 three tests fill in the blanks, 2 open note exams, 1 clinical paper. Lab reports are due Sunday 9pm. Buy book for code. Don't buy anything for lab. Just bring your brain and teamwork.
Dr. Gilbert cares very much about his students. He makes you understand the material and is open for any questions. You need to be there for lectures, they are very important. Be ready to work in a team with classmates. If you need help, Ask. He grades heavy but guarantee you will learn. You work for your grade! Study don't procrastinate!
He talks fast, which is hard to catch everything you need to know or understand as he only repeats when you ask. Everything will be confusing if you haven't taken any anatomy classes. It's best if you don't miss class as lectures are critical to know what you learning. He is a very nice and funny teacher but your gonna have to work really hard.
Dr. G is an amazing teacher. He teaches with passion and makes the class enjoyable. He does talk fast so stop him if you need to and ask questions. Take GOOD notes and attend the lectures. His class is challenging so be ready to put in time and effort.
Taking good notes will help you. Don't be afraid to ask for help. Professor G. goes the extra mile to make sure you succeed. The sodium potassium pump is going to be your best friend. Learn all you can on how it works.
I truly enjoyed having Dr. G as a professor. Bio21A is a hard course, but Dr. G made it interesting and enjoyable. Take good notes throughout the course because it will be helpful!
Take good lengthy notes because on the exams answering questions you will need to be very detailed but he is very understanding if you need any clarifications he is sure to repeat any part that was not understood.
Dr. Gilbert is extremely passionate about what he teaches. Future students taking this class should not expect it to be a walk in the park. This class is really material dense. Tutoring is highly recommended.
Dr.Gilbert makes learning in his class lots of fun and you can tell he enjoys teaching. His lectures are very informative and missing one can leave you behind and he does not post his powerpoints online . There are three tests (not multiple choice , short answers) and two exams (long essay questions) .
Dr.G class was so fun to take, you can tell how passionate he is about teaching and making sure his students are understanding the materials. This class can be difficult at times due to the amount of information he passes on to us. So if you really want to learn instead of just passing, his class is the way to go!
Dr.G's class was really fun! He's very passionate about his job. His class is straightforward and if you stay on top of the lab reports, MAPs, and study/take notes properly you can pass. He allows notes on exams and there are a lot of small quizzes. I had a death in my family and he was very helpful and understanding. I highly recommend his class.
Dr. G class consists of 3 tests (never before seen questions) so study very hard and 2 exams which are open notes (take good notes). Dr. G is a very caring instructor, he would brighten up your day, and make the class fun and a good learning environment. He wants the best out his students and he will guide you through it if you ask for help.
All of his teaching material comes from the textbook. Attendance not mandatory but recommend going to class since he's such a great lecturer. The material is very heavy, but if you have any questions or doubts, he is more than willing to help you out. Staying on top of the hw assignments and lecture notes is key since he does fly by material quick.
Very good professors. In a lot of science classes, thing can get boring really fast. He makes science so fun and keeps the energy in the room alive. He cares about his students however, is a TOUGH grader. he is very precise with wording and it can knock down small amounts of points that affect a grade HARD. Very difficult class to keep up with.
3 tests & 2 exams. On exams you have to get above a 60% average or you won't pass the class. He's tough but an amazing teacher. Allows redos on labs and def do office hours. You need something just ask, he will do anything to help. He likes to make you work for your grade so he won't just give you the answer and is VERY particular on wording.
Dr. Gilbert is a fantastic professor who cares about his students. He's very easy to talk to and always willing to help. However, be prepared to do the work. Take good notes, pay attention, and study your notes. He does 2 exams and has a quiz at least once a week. The work load can be a lot too. If possible, take his classes by themselves.
He make Physiology enjoyable and he is very passionate about teaching. He draws quite a bit to illustrate his lectures but it is very helpful to understand the mechanics of how organ systems work. You must take good notes and participate to understand material better. If you have any questions he will answer but you must do some critical thinking.
Challenging class but Dr. G teaching helps a lot. He is really passionate about teaching which helps a lot in this course. Assignments are important so take good notes, attend class and complete as best possible. Test and Exams are really important so studying is really important. Overall, fun class with Dr.G even if it's a challenging course.
Great professor with a sense of humor to make class enjoyable! Attend lectures/labs, take good notes, and study. NO extra credit. You will get the grade with the effort you put into this course. Be prepared to talk with those around you. Dr. G is very approachable to help with any questions or concerns. Utilize ETC, BIOGRASP, and office hours!
All tests and exams are free responses, no multiple choice at all. All test consists of 20-22 questions of free response be very specific or will be deducted for explanations. Exams are open notes so make sure to gather as much information on notes, but failure to do so will negatively impact test results.
His class lectures were boring, and he used real-life metaphors for the topic were easy to remember. Considerate, if you know you are late submitting an assignment or project. Attending Biograsp, he will explain the topic you want to know about in a specific way that he wants you to ask. I found this very helpful as you can use it on the tasked.
Class lectures were not boring, and he used real-life metaphors for the topic were easy to remember. Considerate, if you know you are late submitting an assignment or project. Attending Biograsp, he will explain the topic you want to know about in a specific way that he wants you to ask. I found this very helpful as you can use it on the tasked.
Dr. G makes me look forward to class lectures, he is engaging and enthusiastic! This class is tough, but if you put in the work, engage in class, and take good notes you will be successful. Overall, Dr. G is the best professor I've had, I think very highly of him and definitely recommend him!
Dr. G is one of the best professors I have taken. Very tough grader as he really wants you to explain things thoroughly and show an understanding of the topic. He gives out study questions, which I highly recommend you look at. His lectures are incredibly entertaining and informative and he really cares for his students.
One of a kind professor! Entertaining lectures with helpful drawings and mimes! Great sense of humor, easy to talk to, and always willing to clarify confusing topics. You'll definitely need to put in the work for a good grade. Be ready for written quizzes and exams, and online hw on each chapter. Only 2 open-note exams, so take GOOD notes.
Dr G is the best professor I've ever had and I'm always looking forward to his lectures. He truly cares about his students and allows plenty of opportunity for success. He grades tough but he wants you to know how to explain the material. The only two exams are essay format and open notes. Quizzes are more frequent, hand written, and closed book.
Dr. G is an amazing professor! He really cares for his student's success. It may seem overwhelming in the beginning but you'll learn to enjoy lectures & lab. His class will definitely take up your time, so don't leave "tomorrow's problems to tomorrow's me." Remember, EVERY! POINTS! COUNT!
This is a very difficult class BUT ask questions! Lots of questions. Gilbert is a wonderful teacher who will go over things over and over until you get it. Do not feel embarrassed or stupid. Also pay close attention to lectures and make group chats with people around you for extra help. You can pass just be prepared to put the work in.
I took this class because it was in person. My friends took hybrid classes with other professors. We all agree physio is tougher than anatomy by far. This professor will keep u alert and engaged on a tough subject. Great at explaining and goes above and beyond to make sure you u understand the material. That being said. He is a tough grader.
Dr.G's test are tough and definitely something to study for, definitely send him the study guides in the beginning of the semester to see how he would like you to answer questions as he expects you to use some critical thinking in a lot of them. His lectures are extremely entertaining and engaging
Dr. Gilbert is a great professor! This class is tough but he makes lectures enjoyable, and great at explaining complicated topic. Attend lectures/lab, stay on top of MAP assignments, lab reports, quizzes and clinical project, take good notes. There are 3 test and 2 exam. Utilize office hours and BioGRASP for extra help.
Dr. G is one of the best professors I've had throughout college. His lectures are amazing and easy to follow. He cares about his students, answers any questions you have, and is always willing to clarify any confusing topics during lecture. It is important to take good notes because the 2 exams are open note. I would 100% recommend this professor.
His lectures were super helpful and detailed. He may be a bit fast but you can always stop him and ask him to repeat anything he talked about. He is a very caring and positive professor and does his best to ensure that his students are understanding the material. Dr. G is one of the best professors I've had.
A very good enthusiastic teacher, No monotone voice always keeps you up and ready to go. You have to study, study, and study in order to understand the concepts But he's always willing to stop what he's doing. To explain or break down any topic he's talking about. Don't miss any days because everyday is important, Also do everything on time.
Dr.G gives amazing lectures and makes it fun to learn. Grades work fairly.
He is the WORST professor at FCC /j. I regret taking his class because I don't think any future teacher will live up to the standard he created. A true once in a lifetime kind of teacher. Anyways, I recommend a laptop for this class as it's fast paced and make sure you keep up communication with him as he is such an understanding person. Good luck
Dr. Gilbert is very flexible and mindful. He puts in a lot of effort in making sure that his students understand the lectures and materials. He is always working on improving the way he teaches to be effective. I very much enjoyed Dr. Gilbert's class and I would recommend him to anyone.
Not an easy class, however he makes everything enjoyable. Take good notes and study.
Use textbook as an exam study tool and take good notes. Study for quizzes they can help your grade a lot and make sure you answer lab reports with detail for full points. Overall it is easy as long as you put in the time and commit to doing your job as a student. As a teacher he makes sure to help in every way possible and gives great feedback.
Dr. Gilbert is an amazing professor, but he grades really tough. His exams are lengthy and difficult, so be ready to work.
Dr. Gilbert is very informative, his lectures keep you engaged and wanting to ask more questions! Even during the labs he'll go over it before you start. If you ever have questions, you won't feel shy to ask he's very funny! Also if you ever have concerns, he's very understanding as long as you let him know ahead of time.
Dr. G is an outstanding instructor. He was my professor for both 21A and 21B. He never fails to make us laugh, and the lectures are never boring. I'd recommend him to everyone! There are two open-note tests. You will succeed if you pay attention in class, take thorough notes, and ask questions. Best of luck
Dr. G makes the human body understandable. He has 2 exams, and a TON of hw. This class requires a lot of attention, and time. I always looked forward to class, and learned so much. Dr. G is a very interesting, and fun person, and his lecturers reflect that. I'm very grateful to have been taught in the way that Dr. G teaches. 10/10
Dr. G is a great professor. He is organized and has clear expectations. If you pay attention to detail, you will do well on the quizzes, tests, and exams, all of which are free response. There is a little homework each week. His lab is enjoyable, and his teaching style makes learning physiology an entertaining experience. This was a great class!

There is a little homework each week. His lab is enjoyable, and his teaching style makes learning physiology an entertaining experience. This was a great class!
Dr. G's lectures were incredibly engaging and easy to follow along to. He takes such care into making sure every student comprehends the material and has no issues reviewing topics until the whole class is confident. Class participation is important, but if you tend to be more shy you can submit study material to be shared for participation credit.
I really enjoyed his class, he's very engaging and understanding. From personal experience: his labs sessions are kind-off hard, his lectures are interactive, many weekly assignments to do, his quiz are kind-off hard, involve a little bit of math, chemistry and biology. Overall, I had a great experience taking his class and i would do so again.
Harsh grader, especially when it comes to lab reports. There are 2 open note exams, 3 questions, essay format, with one math question. There are 3 closed note tests, with about 22-23 questions.
Look up "Dr Matt and Dr Mike" on YouTube and you will see exactly how this course will go. The lectures are very similar. Dr Gilbert just decided to train for endurance instead of hypertrophy. He is an extremely animated professor. He assigned us a seating chart which sucked because in lecture you sit wherever you want and get comfortable in lab no
Professor will clear any confusions you have during lectures or labs, so don't be afraid to ask questions, he'd rather you ask and correct yourself than be wrong. He makes lectures funny and entertaining so it's easier to stay engaged and understand the material. Make sure you have good notes to study for tests, especially for the exams.
Dr. G's lectures are incredibly engaging and easy to follow. He puts in the effort to ensure students comprehend the material. Use tools like unstuckstudy AI alongside the textbook to succeed in this fast-paced class.
Dr. Gilbert is a passionate and energetic professor who wants his students to UNDERSTAND the material. His lectures are engaging and truly help you understand the subject. He is the type of teacher you want for Anatomy and Physiology so you can understand it and be engaged during the process.
Dr. G. is an amazing professor! His energy and passion for anatomy is infectious. He makes every class engaging. He's excited and always giddy about complex topics, which keeps us interested. Though a tough grader, his criteria are clear and pushes us to excel. I've learned more from him than anyone else. Highly recommended for future nurses!
I highly recommend Dr. Gilbert. His lectures are very engaging due to his amazing attitude and enthusiasm. I personally struggle with science and biology, but he makes it very easy to understand. As long as you stay engaged during lecture and study, you should be fine for the exams. His exams are written response for every question, so be prepared.
Dr. G is an amazing professor! He is passionate and knows his material and will try his best to make sure you understand the material. His lectures are so fun and full of energy. He does written exams which is not as scary once you understand the way he tests. Make sure your notes are thorough and organized for his open exams.
Critical with grading but, the lectures are good if you welcome charisma and enthusiasm. This class is not easy and requires a lot of memorization, but the Professor is pleasant.
Professor Dr.G is AMAZING instructor who makes class engaging and informative. Each morning he greats students with a smile, and his entertaining teaching style combines visuals aids, like drawing in lecture with clear explanation, making complex concepts much easier to understand. Recommendations Attendance is important, Note taking labeling. V.S
Professor Dr. G is AMAZING instructor. I highly recommend you take Biology class with him he makes class engaging and informative. His entertaining teaching style combines visuals aids, like drawing in lecture with clear explanation, making complex concepts much easier to understand. Recommendations Attendance is important, Note taking labeling…..
Dr. G is an amazing professor and truly cares for his students. he tries his best to make sure the material is understood by eacch and everyone. there is homework but it is do-able. exams are not too bad, just make sure you explain everything to the fullest. overall great professor
Dr. Gilbert makes biology very easy to understand. Make sure to ask many questions because he never fails to help your understand. Be ready to work with others and have lots of laughs. His exams are tough but if you have the right notes and details you will do fine.
Dr. G is a great instructor. I enjoy his lectures and he really wants each student to understand. TAKE GOOD NOTES! Strict on assignments, very detail orientated! I recommend attending all lectures, studying the material and labs in detail, and ETC to reinforce the material. Exams are 3 questions and are hard so pay attention and ask questions.
It's a tough class. great lecturer, and very good at answering questions/walking students through concepts. Tries to give the most credit but can be picky/specific. Reading the book helps. Have good notes. Exams are fully written so prepare to study and really understand concepts. no extra credit. fun/outgoing environment. student orientated
Dr. G is a good instructor. He is good at explaining and giving time after the class. He gives good feedback on reports, which makes you study the concepts in depth to answer them. He is a tough grader, but if you go through the textbook and class notes, you will be fine. I recommend you to attend his every lecture for good notes.
Dr G will make sure you are awake for his morning lectures, he is very understanding exams are very diffcult as well as some the labs. he very full of knowledge and he is also very patient if students do not understand. you really have to put in the work outside of class he wants to make sure you understand the concept
If you have options to choose your instructor for any biology class, DEFINITELY take Dr. G's class. The class has only 2 exams, and your final grade depends very much on your exam scores. However, you will learn A LOT in his class no matter what grade you get on the exams. He has turned biology from my least favorite class to an enjoyable class.
Dr. G is a caring and experienced professor who gives everyone the best opportunity to succeed in his class. He has a super lenient policy for late and missing work, and works hard to make sure that people understand the material. His grading is subjective though so it's not always consistent. Otherwise he's generally fair and a great professor
Professor Gilbert is an excellent lecturer. He explains things thoroughly and always makes lecture engaging, and his labs are much more enjoyable. Professor Gilbert is very understanding and gives excellent feedback in order for you to improve. Truly be prepared for LOTS of studying (which Professor Gilbert recommends) and writing.
If you are to ever take BIOL21B, Professor Gilbert would be an excellent choice as your professor. He allows his students to be wrong or confused and learn from it. He is always willing to help. However, you should be prepared for LOTS of studying and writing. But most importantly, Dr. G gives you every fair opportunity to improve your grade.
There is a lot of information to take in. I would suggest taking 21A/B with same professor. His teaching method is great. I appreciate that he does not move on from a concept until everyone is on the same page. His grading can be tough, exams have to be thoroughly explained. I would recommend taking very good notes, it will be your best resource!
100% take this class! You're going to get the most visual presentations and the most impactful lectures. Organized lectures. I can't imagine someone saying class is boring. Tips: read sections beforehand, and hw will come easy. Pre-HW & HW is helpful for understanding, lectures connect the whole picture. He's so FUNNY! Can USE NOTES on both EXAMS!
For any students looking for a biology class, Dr. G is a AMAZING professor and his lectures are very fun and engaging.
Dr. G is a true Gem, brings a rare top-tier education to the Valley with his doctorate's in Biology. He's expertise and engaging teaching style make every lesson inspiring and accessible. Having him as a teacher is a truly unique opportunity that few are lucky enough to have!
Professor had great entertaining lectures and made sure everyone understood material. However, it is very important to attend the class because exams are lecture heavy. He does have only two exams in essay written format. Be prepared to take good notes and taken a lot of detailed information that is test heavy. Overall, teacher is great & very nice
Dr. Gilbert is a great, caring professor, always ready to make the class laugh. Although for the class itself is a-lot, group projects, homework, assignments have to be a certain way to get fully credit. Your allow to redo the assignments for more credit which I recommend. Only 2 exam and open book, write good detail notes really specific.
Mr. Gilbert is a excellent teacher would definitely recommend to anyone needing any biology class. The lectures have alot material but Mr.G was amazing at making sure all his students understood, even if it meant stopping the lecture. All his exams are open note which help tremendously since there is a lot of material being learned.
Tough grader, has high expectations but wants us all to do our best. Exams and quizzes are difficult, he is flexible as long as you communicate with him. He keeps the class engaged and asks questions during lectures. Listens to our concerns and makes adjustments based off those concerns. 10/10 great professor. Highly recommend, study, study, study!
Dr.G is amazing! He is energetic, always in a great mood&makes you feel like he truly cares (because he does). The ONLY thing I do not like about his teaching style is the NUMEROUS "think, pair, share", I DO see how it can be helpful for some but, its just too early for me to be talking to people & I prefer learning from the professor.
Dr. G is a great professor; his lectures are very engaging and encourages you to talk to your group to ensure you are all on the same page which is beneficial for learning. He is a tough grader, but he will be very clear on what he expects. Two exams (midterm and final) both of which are open note.
Dr.G is amazing! I took him for 21A as well. He lectures well and is is clear on what he expects from us. He doesn't give extra credit but he does give participation credit! If you don't study for his exams you won't pass. But we can use notes, so take good notes!
Anatomy and physiology are difficult subjects but he does a great job at teaching them. His lectures and labs are very engaging and informational. Amazing professor overall.
very strong accent which was hard for me to understand almost anything he was lecturing about. repetition is key!! ask him to repeat & he will do it for you until you understand the concept. really amazing & understanding professor. only con part is that his grading is hard and strict. otherwise, great class and professor
Dr. Gilbert's class is a challenging one but is well rewarding in the subjects he teaches. His class consists of only 2 exams, all hand written no multiple choice. The homework is steady every week with a lab report due at the end of every week along with some other work at times. He's very energetic with his teaching and really gets you to engage.
Gilbert is a great teacher and very extensive. He does have very fast lectures. I recommend recording lectures. There are only 2 exams and they are essay questions. They are very difficult but they are open note. If you have any questions he is very open. He is also very understanding you just have to show effort.
During these classes, Dr. G was very passionate about his students and the way he teaches. He is a hard grader but with good intentions, he is there to help you no matter what.
These are challenging classes therefore a lot of information to learn and understand. If you are struggling he for sure takes the time to help you understand. I definitely encourage you to take biology classes with him, he is very good!
Great professor but very material heavy class if you DO NOT understand anything don't hesitate to ask again or get clarification. Dr.Gilbert really works with you and will help you.
Dr. Gilbert is a great professor. It's not the professor, but the material that requires a lot of work. Dr. Gilbert does a good job at explaining and using metaphors to explain the subject. He is very knowledgeable and willing to discuss or clear up anything you need answered. There is a lot of material, so be prepared to put in your own work.
He is an amazing teacher who is fair in his grading and helps out students in any way he can. You need to study and stay engaged in class and you will do well in his class. Having great notes is important for his classes. He is tough in his grading but it will be everything you have gone over in class. Missing classes will definetly set you back.
Dr. Gilbert's class is challenging and interactive. His grading scale is clear and you will be set up to be prepared for all homework assignments, quizes, exams and group/solo projects. There are two big exams but they are open note! Study, attend the lectures, read your textbook and stay on top of assignments and you should be fine.
Really great professor. He is a tough grader, but overall his class was great. He is very caring and respectful to his students. In addition, he is very understanding. Be ready to take good notes, it will help you a lot.
I believe that Dr.G is a great teacher and has very great lectures. Being a DSPS student he has been very helpful. He is a very understanding teacher and listens to his students. One thing I would have liked to know before taking this class is the style of testing which he does written tests only buts it's open note so that's helpful.
Great professor! He wants you to pass so he is going to do his best to help. You are going to have to put in the hard work in return though.
AMAZING teacher!!! terrible grader... (respectfully). Great teacher who makes everything comprehendible and understandable for student. However, not a fan of his grading style. He tends to grade based of how he's feeling and concepts he remembers in the moment, rather than checking off a set criteria so you will almost never get full points.
He's a very good professor and his lectures are very engaging but he is a very harsh grader. You have to have a lot of details in your answers wether its for lab reports, or quizzes but overall he is a very good professor and he will take time to explain something to you if you dont understand something he said. Also very flexible with homework.
He is a very good professor and his lectures are very engaging. The only negative is he is a very harsh grader and you must have a lot of details in your lab reports and quizzes which is very difficult when your starting off because you don't know how much detail you but he is very flexible when it comes to assignments or if your absent.
Very thorough in physiology which can be tough but he will slow down if needed. Good energy, good attitude, understanding when it comes to grading. He only has short answer test which initially throws you off because of the usual multiple choice but it's preferred because it's not just straight memorization. Wish I had him for Bio 21A
He's a really good teacher. His lectures are very fast and heavy. For the exam he does 5 written questions in the form of paragraphs. He lets you use your notebook for notes. This in fact sounds very nice in theory, but not in reality it's not if you didn't get really good notes and understood the material. He's one of harder proffers to take.
Dr. G is an awesome professor with super detailed lectures and labs, but he does grade pretty tough. He only has a midterm and final (note is allow during exam), and he expects really thorough answers on everything. If you're good at essay questions, he's the professor for you.
Dr. G is an amazing teacher. His lectures are amazing, he does not mind going back and teaching the topic or repeating himself. He grades very hard especially in lab reports and exams (only have 2 exams, open notes as long as it is in your handwriting) Overall, his is class is challenging but worth it IMO
Lectures are fun and interactive, homework is easy, lab reports aren't bad and labs themselves are easy. The exams are kind of hard. He pops jokes in lecture and makes you contribute to lecture sometimes. If you study for exams you'll be fine, he makes practice problems. Just study each chapter good, notes during exam ok too.
Engage as he goes along with the lecture. If you don't, he'll make sure you do. ESPECIALLY if you're in the front. If theirs something you're not understanding, ask because he will do his best to explain it in a different way. Attendance, SHOW UP because it's a lot of important info you do NOT want to miss out on.
Professor Gilbert is passionate about teaching and ensures you understand concepts for your future career. Review lab reports before class to stay prepared, and definitely get the textbook—it aligns closely with his lectures!
Professor Gilbert is great in his lectures. He makes sure that you fully understand the topic that he is talking about before moving on. He has us do constant peer check-ins to make sure that we can put the information into our own words and "teach" it to our fellow classmates. He is also flexible with assignments and absences.
Great professor and great lectures
Two exams, midterm and final. Make sure to take good notes! They're useful for when it comes to the exam! Participation matters, labs matter, lab reports! Pearson assignments are easy and helpful. Make sure you attend ETC!!! very helpful, no extra credit!
Hes a great professor, we only had two exams, the rest were lab assignments, in class quizzes, and online homework due and the end of the week. Its best to just keep up with everything, he's very understanding for late work just communicate! he gives feedback on assignments u turned in and he's very positive and nice.
I absolutely enjoyed taking Dr. G's class, he is very enthusiastic with what he teaches and is always open to answering your questions if there's any confusion within the lecture. He is very lecture heavy which is vital for the exams since they are written short answers. They are open note however, but it has to be YOUR own notes.
Very fun and cool professor. Only thing probably makes it hard are the written exams only. Other than that, very energetic and makes learning fun and easy.
You won't know what your grade truly looks like until after finals. The grading is very few and unclear. You will also only have two exams, so you will only have two chances to get the grade you want. He grades very harshly on lab reports, especially at the beginning of the semester.
Honesty this class is pretty difficult but it's Bio21B so I wouldn't except it to be any easier. As long as you study & take good notes, you'll be fine. Professor G is really passionate about teaching & its helpful when it comes to his lectures because he makes even the boring subjects sound interesting. He's understanding & helps in any way he can
Dr. G is a great professor, very bright and energetic, and puts a lot of effort into facilitating a healthy learning environment. I was going through a lot this past semester and he extended opportunities to me that I couldn't be more grateful for. Don't feel afraid to reach out to him! There is no professor I could recommend more for this course.
Dr. G is very understanding & willing to help in any way with explaining the work in detail. Be sure to take notes because you may use all notes on the exams & final! He worked w/me while I was pregnant letting me complete a couple of assignments so I was able to have my C-section & rest. Definitely would take again.
AWFUL. DO NOT TAKE.
Great, he explains things so that I finally understand them. Exciting and engaging lecturer. He also is forgiving on some assignments and allows makeups for credit. I get the feeling he actually likes being a teacher, it's not just a paycheck. Only criticism is that he is difficult to please and is fault finding with our answers pretty harshly.
Dr. Gilbert is extremely qualified with a streamlined teaching style, everything has purpose and he's fair with expectations. Unlike other teachers, he takes feedback from students. Also, he obliges happily to clarify, practically inexhaustible with patience. Hope he's my last teacher because he can't be followed. A great human being and teacher.
Dr. G is the best prof hands down! Enthusiastic lectures, good feedback & true compassion for students and how they learn. Take GOOD notes because you can use them on the exams BUT make sure to include a lot of detail to explain your answers. I miss his classes, the RN program needs professors like him! He loves getting feedback so write a review!
I believe that Dr. Gilbert is the best professor that I have taken. I have his 8:00 am class and I have never wanted to fall asleep in his class. He is great at explaining physiology and very understanding. He is a really tough grader exams are worth 30 percent of your grade and if you fail the classes you can't pass the class. Would recommend.
Dr. Michael Gilbert was a very organized and thorough professor. He is British so his accent may make him sound a bit harsher than he is trying to be (students may take his feedback the wrong way) . Although the actual course is expected to be difficult, he did a great job at making sure he answered any questions or concerns when brought up.
He is very particulate with grading, everything has to be up to his standards, so communicate with the professor. Always ask questions! His lectures are brilliant, very enthusiastic individual, horrible handwriting, but a good professor. My recommendation is to go to his office hours & use him as your personal tutor to go over & restudy material.
He's inconsistent with grading. Test are fill in not multiple choice. Exams are open note. Make sure you take great notes. Study with people. His lectures and entertaining. A quiz almost every week. Overall decent class. He's understanding. Makes you work for your grade.
Dr. G is a great professor very helpful and helped me through a tough time. Very accessible outside of class. Lectures are really detailed and explained well, tests are challenging but not extreme. Very easy to talk to and ask for help.
Fave teacher out of 26 I've had. Stupendous. Energetic. Friendly. Lucid. Approachable. If you miss points on labs, fix it and he'll amend scores. He goes above and beyond for students. Incredibly caring and gifted teacher. It's impossible to fail if one applies themselves. He will turn into a friend and you will miss his lectures. WELL LIKED!!!!!!!
Dr. G is one of the best professors I have taken by far. His lectures were very interactive and easy to follow, I actually looked forward to coming to this class. You can tell he really cares about his students' success. Tests were straight forward and based off lecture material (definitely show up to each class). Highly recommend taking his class!
Dr. Gilbert is one of the best communicators with students as a professor. He makes every effort to help us one on one and talk to us if we have any concerns or questions. I highly suggest focusing on the lecture notes above all when prepping for quizzes and tests.
If you're looking for the right teacher, Dr.G's the one. This course is not easy no matter who you take. It is lecture heavy, test heavy, and attendance is mandatory to pass the class. Dr.G has great intentions and wants every student to pass. He's hilarious, caring, very helpful, and definitely tries to ease the stress off for his students.
Keep in mind that physiology is not an easy course. This professor let's you know what is needed to pass as well as giving a heads up on what material you will be tested/quizzed on. As long as you put in the work and study sufficiently, you will receive the grade that you truly deserve.
There is hw every week on pearson, but it's easy. There are 2 exams and they are open notes and essay type questions, so take good notes! There are 3 tests which are fill in questions, no multiple choice. Overall, he is a great professor and lectures are never boring. You have to put in the time for the grade you want. :D
Dr. G is a wonderful teacher! He is very enthusiastic about physiology and it's never a boring lecture. He does expect you to put in the work for the grade you wish to achieve. With that being said, he is available to talk to and answer any questions you may have to clear up confusion. So good luck, put in the work and study hard with breaks!
There are multiple study tools available through pearson. I would recommend recording the lectures in case you miss anything while writing your notes. I would stay on top of your work as much as possible to prioritize studying and reviewing. The 2 exams are open note, which is really nice.
Dr.G was a fantastic professor, be ready to take notes during class as you can use them on the two exams during the semester. He uses in class quizzes for credit sometimes that help you see where you're at in the material. Labs are fun and he's great at answering any questions you may have. Fair grading on reports and he listens to feedback.
This isn't a class you can just pass, you need to put in the time each week to stay on top of the material, especially since he is a tough grader. But Mr. G is fair, chill, and pretty funny too. If you're serious about actually learning and don't mind putting in the effort, I definitely recommend taking his class!
Dr. G is a great professor who knows his material and makes lectures fun and engaging. Just be ready for his tough grading, he'll deduct points for spelling errors or missing words. There are two open-note exams and three closed-note written tests, no multiple choice. If you take him, good luck, you'll learn a lot!
Mr. Gilbert was an amazing professor, one thing I will say about him is he is very caring about all his student and will literally stop class if you don't understand something in the lecture or lab. You better be ready for him, Mr. G is super energetic, around the room and he brings a good positive energy. I would say take very good notes.
The course itself is tough, but Dr. G takes time to help all students understand the material. If you take his class take lots of notes! The two big exams are open note so write down anything you think is useful and anything he goes over in detail. He gives note outlines, and practice questions to help. Office hours are very helpful for exam prep!
This class was hard, but it's doable. He is not too textbook-heavy, but more lecture-based. He is very specific about what he is looking for when doing lab reports and answering, and is very passionate and caring about what he's teaching, and overall, a great professor.
The class can be hard at times but is definitely not impossible. The homework load is a good balance with how much information you are learning each week. He really cares about you learn and understand the topic he is teaching.
Dr. G overall is a great professor. His lectures are interesting and well organized. He assigns lab homework and Pearson (an online platform). He is open to feedback, whether positive or negative, and just wants his students to learn the material well. I feel seen as a student and would definitely take his class again.
He's a great teacher!!! Very entertaining, very dedicated to his work ,easy to follow. Takes accountability. Very easy to communicate and understanding and works great with students. I WOULD TAKE AGAIN, well i am tehe.
Dr. G is a great prof! Although his lectures could sometimes be content-heavy, he slowed himself down if needed and ensured that we talked to classmates after covering hard material. His tests and exams were initially nerve-wracking since they were only short-answer/essay-based, but if you take good notes and ask questions, you're in good shape!
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS, if you are not ready to put in the effort. Dr.G is great professor. He is very entertaining (you will laugh during lecture/lab), knowledgeable, and passionate. Make sure you take very good notes of EVERYTHING, not just lecture material. He is a tough grader but it's for good reason.
He was very helpful and is very in depth about what he was discussing but this is a very challenging class
Professor G was one of the best teachers I have had throughout all my years of school. He breaks every topic down in a simple, more understandable format. This course is very challenging, but as long as you take good notes in lecture and attend, you will be okay.
Dr. Gilbert is a great professor. He explains topics clearly and breaks them down in a way that's easy to understand. The warm-up questions at the start of class are super helpful for review and test prep. If you stay on top of the material and put in the effort, you'll earn the grade you deserve.
Professor Gilbert is one of the professor's who is willing to breakdown the concept until his students understand it. He tests this with his 2 large exams where he asks you to answer a prompt with a detailed response. He is lenient on homework and lab reports as long as you talk to him. Pay attention to his wording during lecture and lab.
Dr G was a great professor. He is very lecture heavy but if you take good notes it will be really helpful since the exams are open note. He is a tough grader since everything is essay/short response based but he always gives feedback and will help you improve. I am taking his class again for 21B. It's a lot of work but he makes it fun!
Dr. G is a wonderful professor that really cares about educating his students. He is very animated and engaging during lectures so it's easy to follow along. However, all the quizzes/tests/exam are free response. Make sure you actually understand the material. This is a difficult class, and your final grade will reflect how much effort you put in.
One of the most entertaining and engaging professors I've ever had! You'll never be bored in his class. You can tell he truly cares about his students and is very passionate about the material he teaches. This is not an easy subject, ask questions, make sure you understand the concepts/ material! Your effort will reflect your grade!!!
Loved taking this course if you want to succeed well make sure to participate in class, ask questions and be ready to work hard. Anatomy is not an easy course so make sure to keep up on notes and studying. I loved how Dr.G doesn't make you feel stupid when you get an answer wrong and helps to answer any questions needed.
Amazing Professor! Energetic, patient, and engaging. Dr. G makes learning fun with creative labs-NO Lab Exams! Assignments require a lot of effort but are only worth 5 points, you can revise and resubmit if needed. Two open-note, timed lecture exams are essay-based and graded on interpretation. Weekly quizzes, some partnered, are fair if you study.
Dr. G is an amazing professor. He makes sure you understand in both lectures and labs. He wants everyone to engage in conversations so he will randomly call on students, but will not make you feel brainless if you don't know the answer. Also, make sure you know anatomy because he doesn't go over it and if he does it's very vague.
The Professor has an amazing teaching style you will learn a lot. Just keep taking notes on the lecture. I wishstudied more the subject is a tough subject. The class is designed where the test are not multiple choice you will have to write short paragraphs and one word answers. The exam is open notes which is good he grabs your attention.
I would recommend this class if your willing to work for the units. Dr.G is thorough and does help you understand the material when you ask at his office hours. He wants his students to grasp the information his lectures are on. He is a tough grader and with that being said I did learn a lot.
Dr. Gilbert is a very entertaining and engaging professor, his lectures are memorable. I would suggest students to take very good notes, attend ALL lectures if possible since test and exams are heavily dependent on lecture notes. Be sure to keep up with the reading. Make use of office hours and asking questions if lab report is unclear.
Dr.G was an amazing professor! I loved every lecture and lab. He made each lesson very engaging and fun to learn! I would highly recommend taking his class. You won't regret it!
When it comes to learning this professor understands the assignment. He is so willing to help you learn something that you don't understand and he means business. He has been one of the best professors I have had and would recommend.
Very engaging and lively when teaching. Draws in your focus and keeps you interested in the class. Explains complex ideas in a very digestible and easy to understand manner. The class definitely requires a lot of personal study time, but is great for people who want to have a strong, in-depth understanding of anatomy and physiology.
Dr. Gilbert is hilarious and very animated when it comes to his lectures. He is very knowledgeable, and he takes his time to be specific and explain. I would say that you truly have to do the work, both in and out of class. If you seek his help, he will make sure to take the time for you to learn. I would take any class he teaches.
He's a very tough grader, if you're not clear enough, he'll dock off points. with exams, he just grades harshly. In labs, he'll ask a bunch of follow-up questions on the activity we just completed. He uses Pearson, a whole different app from Canvas so it easy to forget you have assignments to complete and you can get behind.
Mr. Gilbert is thorough and teaches you to be complete in a detailed way insuring nothing is missed. G grading is tough but you're definitely going to know the material at the end of the semester. He encourages students to collaborate with one another in lecture which I really liked. That gave everyone a chance to sharpen their knowledge.
Great professor. Yes the class is hard but no physio class is easy. He's pretty lenient with missed deadlines and allows students to resubmit lab work for a better grade. Exams are open note which is helpful. A tip I have for future students is to voice record his lectures! This way you can go back and make sure notes are good for the exams.
Dr. G is a really good professor and gives amazing lectures. He makes sure the lectures are entertaing and very engaging. There are only 2 exams and aren't bad as long as you take good notes throughout the semester.
I love how interactive this professor is when it comes to showing diagrams or live representations of what we are learning. The way he puts his enthusiasm into the learning makes it charismatic and fun, even for quiet people. I would take him again.
Amazing professor, he goes very into detail in lectures which makes lectures interesting. Exams are open note so having good notes is key! Labs are fun but he is a tough grader on lab reports so make sure you go into detail on the lab reports. Overall a fun class if you put effort into learning the material.
Dr G is an amazing person who is passionate about what he teaches. The grade you receive is based on the work you put in! You have to make sure you are up to date, pay attention and STUDY! It's a lot of information to retain but not impossible.
Dr.Gilbert is a great professor. He is very detailed throughout the lecture and willing to answer any questions you may have. He is also very passionate, which makes the lecture a lot more engaging since he truly does care. I will say he grades very carefully; however, it will only make you better for the future.
Tests and exams are very difficult, go to office hours to figure out how questions need to be answered due to the fact that their is no multiplechoice. Proffesor does a really good job in office hours answering any questions you might have about any of the material.
Dr. Gilbert is clear passionate, and keeps his lectures interesting. Exams are open note but challenging and require detailed written answers no multiple choice. Be thorough in your lab reports and keep track of Pearson deadlines. You'll need to put in effort but you'll walk away actually understanding the material.
Dr. Mike is a fun, understanding professor who teaches through visuals, movement, and class discussions. Labs and quizzes are simple if you pay attention. He rewards participation with "Mikey Bux" to boost grades. Just don't turn in work late and write more on lab reports. His class fills up fast don't miss out!
Professor Gilbert was great ! He is very clear with the syllabus schedule and his lectures were always interesting. He has been the best teacher I've had in college and I would recommend him 100% to other students. He is very helpful and explains things in a way for you to understand clearly. Be dedicated to this class 100% and you will pass !
Dr. G cares about his students & wants to make sure they understand subject before moving on, Your grade will truly depend on the effort you put in, definitely need to make time to study especially for tests- all short answer questions no multiple choice. Exams are about 2 questions of your choice essay style, but open notes he is a tough grader.
Great professor but not 4 me lol, would not recommend him to anyone unless they're going to nursing. 2 exams open notes essay format so really know your stuffs to pass! Very strict on wording. Also don't take him for 21B unless you took him before! You will fall behind he does not play abt 21A, you MUST know it before entering his class! Good luck
Tough grader. 40% of grade is the 2 exams. Quick grader. "Extra credit" is not extra. It is 5% of total grade. Clear grading criteria. Asks students what helps them learn and creates a plan. His class is good for nursing students and will separate the students who pass from the students who exceed. Take this class by itself, it is time consuming.
Dr. G quickly became my favorite instructor after almost 2 years at City. He is very engaging, his lectures are animated and he's full of energy. He expects effort to be put into assignments and won't give you full credit just because you showed up. He is a tough grader, but equally up front about what he wants. Plus, British accents are fun.
He is a nice but very strict professor. The good thing is that he lets us redo assignments which gives you a chance to better your grade but it with a deduction. The bad is that the exams are 3 question, 1 math and 2 long ones of your choice. But there are open notes but they have to be very detailed because the questions are literally merciless
Professor G does lecture, however keep up with the reading on your own time for more in depth info on chapters. The exam format was a bit different than I'm used to. Instead of multiple choice and short answer, there are three total questions to answer. Although Professor G is a bit of a stickler on grading it really helps in the long run.
Best professor i've had. Intimidating at first but if you stick to studying and do your work this class can be easy. Lectures were very engaging and he was great with helping students understand the material so don't be afraid to ask questions! Take good notes during and outside of class and you'll do good on his exams. His class takes dedication.
