Great lecturer, good teacher. Really enjoyable except when he goes on and on about his evolutionary beliefs. Although it was evolutionary biology (a required for many science majors) I am glad to say there wasn't a whole lot of evolution except for as I mentioned, he always says his part on it. If you believe you came from soup, so be it.

I don't particuarly like Michael, even though he did give me an A. He really does know his stuff and the struggles of his students, and you will learn some stuff in his class (esp. Genetics); however, he believes God and Science to be separate. Yet, he still manages to always give his opinion on how there is no God during his lectures. . .not cool.

Golden doesn't go by his overall syllabus grade. If a student earns all A's in exams before the finals and completes all assignment in his course,it will not be enough to pass his class if one fails the finals. This is because he knows everyone has his tests. He never changes his exams according to any student that took his class twice!

I don't see the negative reviews here, Im in his class and do not see eye to eye with his political views (fully anyway) but he's still a great teacher, and I am ex military. Good teacher, and generally wants his students to pass. Study hard and pay attention you'll do fine. Don't and well, you get what ya give. BIO is political, so it does fit.

I took the BIO 110 split course and yes it was lecture heavy but the material was relevant and applicable to the tests. THE FIELD TRIPS ARE MANDATORY BUT INTERACTIVE AND RELAXING! This course includes various topics, such as nutrition and climate change, that force you to understand the ideas through the eyes of someone who truly knows the topic.

I liked the class. It was pretty easy if you study. Honestly, I dont care about politics one way or another. But the only time I remember him talking about Trump is when we talked about climate change. I saw some cry babies below and one of them was in my lab. Dude. Learn to read at college level.

He's very political in nature, but I do respect him and the way he believes in what he talks about. Sometimes he will get off topic and talk through the entire lecture. Offers tons of extra credit. Also strict on attendance, as he is a firm believer in student participation. Overall, good teacher and passionate about education.

Pros & cons. Lots of field trips in the lab (most of them are independent which seems like a scam so he can cancel half the lab meetings while u go to places and do the work on ur own). He drops your lowest midterm and lab score which is SUPER helpful. His study guides and other materials seem outdated like they dont always align which is annoying

This new hybrid (half online/half lecture) is awful. You get almost nothing from one day of lecture and the online simutext is a terrible idea. I think the professor is a nice guy, and really wants you to learn something from him and pass his class. However, the lecture is 85% him rambling about things completely unrelated to the subject matter.

Bio 110 with Professor Golden was smooth, although I think his course would benefit a lot by having daily PowerPoints to visually explain his lectures versus just hearing him chat about his experiences with science . His attendance is mandatory and will drop you if you miss more than 4 classes. The class itself is easy but he makes it 10x more difficult without it having to be. No direction in the class.
