Goldstein isn't as bad as the other ratings would suggest. As long as you do the work and pay attention you'll be fine. He does scare me, though. He reminds me of Prof Kingsfield from "The Paper Chase."

This guy has tons of energy. Don't his personal interactions too seriously and you'll enjoy his class. He's a good alternative to less animated teachers. It's not possible to sleep through his class.

He is hilarious if you get his kind of humour. Like to tease students, give out hard hw but really easy on lab. As long as you do good on the lab and hw ...you have a chance to get an A . test grade is curved

Underrated. Goldstein is a good and hilarious teacher. This is a difficult subject. If you don’t like to study, take someone easier. But if you really want to learn physics, Goldstein is the best. If you can role with his unique humor and know how to study, you’ll have a great class. Unforgettable!

Hes funny and tries to get students involved he goes over whats on the tests but the tests are HARD!!! whole class stayed til 10+pm for every exam we had!!! he is unfair in grading.. he's favoritism!! he asks his likable students wat grade they want.. if you take his class be on his good side.. and he'll probably give you the grade you want..

Ok, all of you need to grow some alligator skin and stop being such big BABIES!!! Goldstein is really cool once you get to know him. Yes, the class is hard, but it's PHYSICS for crying out loud! It's going to be hard! Geez!! Go to class, TRY, to learn, and stop whining!!!! Get past his facetiousness and you'll be OK.

Excellent teacher. If you are looking for an easy class or get your feelings hurt easily, look elsewhere. If you are looking for a class to prepare you for 196 and 197, this is the best class available. Very entertaining teacher as long as you don't take his demeanor seriously.

I love this professor. I learned a lot in his class. He is very helpful. The one who really know Physics. You will appreciate Physics if you take his class.

Professor Goldstein is a great teacher that cares about his students. His humor is a bit off-the-wall, but that is what made the class so enjoyable for me. If you take his sense of humor seriously then you will probably find a way to do poorly in his class and blame him for your lack of effort.

My favorite professor... teach Phys196! Don't know him? He has an east coast, in your face, dry sense of humor. He throws stuff, yells and picks on people. He does this to keep the students attention and create an atmosphere of involvement. Can't handle that? Stay away. Otherwise he is knowledgeable and cares about passing on his knowledge.

What is with all you guys hating on Dr. G? My friend and I took this class and once I got to know him I realized he was really a great teacher. I could see how he can come off as abrasive to some students, but nothing he says is malicious in the least. This guy knows his stuff, TAKE HIM and sit in the front. You'll learn to love him :>

He has quite a weird sense of humor. However the class is much like any other class do the homework tests are going to be much easier. He class is pretty easy since if you ask him he will tell you what is going to be on the test. Test questions are easier than the homework questions

had him for 295/295L/297L.liked him. tough, know your math! he's crazy smart, screws around alot! helps if you have thick skin. easy labs, he wants to be there less than the students so he helps alot to get out of there. he'll shake your soda and eat your food if he can reach it(really). open book/notes tests, but tough.

This is by far the most hilarious teacher i have ever had. His lectures are very clear and to the point. For the first two weeks of taking him, you will view him as the rudest teacher alive. But once you get to know he acts, hes really funny. Its kind of like NBC's "the Office." Its not funny until you get to know the characters.

Give me a break...the haters must not be putting in the work and yet expect an easy grade. Definitely a unique sense of humor, but that keeps it interesting and as was said before it isn't malicious. Very helpful on labs, goes over all even problems in class. I definitelt recommend him!

Dr. Goldstein is an energetic, fun and often sarcastic prof. He expects you to work--don't be lazy. Key to the course is showing up having already read the chapter. Same with the labs. Do the practice tests and you're golden. Grading: 4 Exams (lowest score dropped; 50%), Labs (lowest score dropped; 30%), Homework (10%), Participation (10%).

At first I thought this guy was going to be hard, but he is actually REALLY EASY. As long as you do your work its like really to get a B. He makes the lab really easy by cutting a buncha work. Taking him again for phys 196. Hes really EASY in my opinion. Tests are simplified!! P.S He has a monotone voice =( but easy tests!!

If you r in anyway self-concious, dont take him! Other than that it was like having a stand up comidian teaching physics and really not doing too bad of a job. If i could have him for 196 next semester, I would!

Great professor! He really knows his Physics. He is a little scary at first, but it was enough to get me to read the chapters before class. After you get use to him if you're not easily offended he's hilarious! I recommend taking his advice about reading the chapters before class. He lets you use a cheat sheet on tests. No studying required.

this guy is awesome. if you are an innocent, soft hearted, and a pro-animal rights activist piece of s**t, dont take him. your weak heart will be bruised by his jokes. however, for me, he is the all time most funny professor ever. He curves his tests, entertains the class, and he is very helpful as well. Recommended!

If you need physics take this class. Teacher comes prepared to every class and follows the syllabus. Has big ego but is very smart and if you are struggling he can break it down for you. allows 4 pages of notes for tests has a review before & provides sample exams. If you have trouble with this class you should probably reconsider going to school.

People who gave him bad rate should reconsider going to school. He might seems like a mixed of a bully and a joker, but he's actually quite interesting guy. He's helpful, and willing to answer questions. His lab is fun, he will help you but if you do something wrong, he will joke about it for awhile. Friendly and easygoing. Recommend

He is not your boring professor who might not notice you sleeping in the back of the class or talking to your neighbor. He is very sharp and smart. He comes to class prepared, jokes a lot and loves physics. If you study his notes that he provides, do the sample tests before the exam & your homework, you will be fine. This is a college course!

DO NOT take the class if you don't like a teacher going down roll and calling names to do math problems. you will get made fun of. If you don't get you feelings hurt easily or get intimidated by him then you might have a lot of fun. He likes to joke around a lot and make students laugh.

One of the smartest people I've met. He makes the class EASY to pass, helps with homework, does the labs for students.Organized, has pre tests for students to practice - very helpful! If you think this professor/class is hard, college is not for u. He actually sincerely wants to see his students LEARN and understand physics.

A great professor, he can sometimes come across as a bully when he picks on students, but it's all just joking around. He will most likely pick on you and call you out in lecture to read and answer questions, textbooks required every class. He has notes and practice tests online that really help with the class and he does open-note testing.

1010, love Goldstein! Very clear lectures & notes. Gives you the all formulas & values you need & open note tests. HW is important & he does all the even problems in class so you get to do the odds ones at home (yay!). Brusque & sarcastic, but means well. "Teases" students but it was all taken in good humor. Very knowledgeable & experienced!

Goldstein can come off as a bully and he likes to tease students, but that's just what he does. He gives you all the material to succeed on his website, including class notes and old tests. My advice is print out his notes and bring them to class to follow along, also do the practice tests as a lot of the same questions are on the test. Easy A!

he is one of the best teachers I've ever had. If you want a real teacher that will help you, he's genuine. He doesn't mess around. If you put in your work you should be okay. And don't be scared of him, he's actually a soft bunny underneath his armor. we definitely need more teachers like this guy

hes very fair! As long as you do your work and try and ask questions, he will be there to help you. but come prepared and you should be ok. but try to make every class and actually learn something.

This teacher is awesome! The labs are pretty easy, he does a lot of the work for you and will check your group's progress and will let you know if you've done something wrong. Lab NEVER goes for the full duration either. He's very clear on the material but never miss class or a test/lab. You can't make them up.

This man is officially my favorite professor EVER. He absolutely doesn't deserve the harsh reviews here because he really truly cares about his students. READ HIS NOTES!!! I waited so long to do this and it makes the class SO much easier. He hands you an A, you just have to get up & take it. Just get to know him, he's a big softie on the inside. :)

He is a very good professor, he was always available for his students and was very approachable. He actually made time to help students. If you have a job, he will work with you so you can understand and have fair chance to pass the class. I don't really understand why he has so many low marks. I would be glad to have him as my professor again.

He's awesome! He really does give you everything to pass the class. I would attend class if you want more help with understanding the material. Labs were short and sweet.

This is a very easy class. There are 4 multiple choice tests which highly resemble the practice tests he provides; also, he drops the lowest score. The labs are hella easy and he shows you how to do everything. The only bad part about this class is that this guy is extremely condescending and is borderline insane.

Dr. Goldstein is the FUNNIEST professor I have ever had. I have never laughed so much during class. The subject is hard, but he basically hands you an A. You get pages of notes to use during exams, he drops the lowest one, and he does your labs for you. He assigns weekly homework but it's the odd ones with an answer key. TAKE HIM. He's a genius.

It takes time to warm up to this professor. He has a unique personality, but he does the job and ensures his students get the idea if they're paying the right attention.

At first, you think this teacher is crazy and disrespectful. But as the semester progresses you realize the truth behind his dark humor. He is very homework and lab grade-heavy. Homework is easy and he pretty much does the labs for you. ALL HIS TESTS ARE THE SAME AS HIS SAMPLE TESTS. Do the sample tests and READ THE TEXTBOOK.

Dr. Goldstein is one of the best professors I have ever had. Like a couple comments say, at first you think he is one of the rudest professors ever. But the average student will see through his dark humour and will actually learn a lot. He is one of my favorite professors, and I am actually considering changing my major to physics from Hospitality.

Prof Goldstein is cool. I would say the majority of the class enjoyed him as a teacher. Lectures didn't help me, I had to read the book to understand the material. He does not stress reading the book but IT HELPS. There's hw due every week, don't slack on that or it will affect your grade. He drops the lowest test score, which helps a lot.

Perfect professor for an intro class; aware of the variety of students in class so goes easy on the math & breaks concepts down. Gives practice tests that match real tests, goes over practice tests & homework in class. Lots of chances for points! Walks you through labs too. Great lectures; I was scared of physics but this class gave me confidence.

He is funny and smart professor. 4 exams total and if you score high you can skip the final. He does practice tests, explain homework in class. He will give extra credit for real tests and he even checks the extra credit answers if you have them right or not. Lectures can be fast so make sure to ask again if you don't understand.

Some people seem to be off put by his personality, but he is really the BEST! Hes sarcastic, but is joking about 99% of the time. He is literally the best Prof to take an intro physics class with. Be sure to read his notes and the chapters. HW is 50% of your grade. Seriously, the best professor Ive ever had! Dont let these comments derail you!

I loved this class, and the professor's personality. East coast guy, great sense of humor, don't take it too seriously. Homework and labs are important but not difficult, take my word for it and make sure to follow the sample problem format exactly. Lectures were great for me, I hardly had to read the textbook other than to keep up with them.

Look I don't like him but I respect him, the guy's a genius and knows his stuff basically a human calculator and that's what you want from a professor, teaches well and gets to the point so yeah good class
