Overall enthusiasm is awesome. He has experienced a lot so he teaches by experience, which helps out more than one would believe. Doesn't Assign much.

He is a generous guy who is always willing to help his students. I enjoyed his humour in class.

i dont know why everyone is complaing about the difficulty of his tests. you dont even need to take notes in class since its pretty much useless. just read his guide and the text, do the extra credit vocab. and assignments. very easy class if you read.

Homework is due weekly & gives full credit if u complete it even though it may all be wrong. Exams are exactly like his reviews. I never pay attention & just study the night before exam & it clicks in my head w/ no sweat. These classes are a joke...

TV lectures are quick and as thorough as they can be, given the allotted time. He can go out of his way to be helpful. Assigned homework was quite appropriate. Tests were difficult only in that they were closed-book.

He is very knowledgeabel on what he is teaching and his lecture is full with sense of humour. English is my second language. I appreciat the guide he wrote which helps me a lot to go though the study. His test is not easy, but students do learn things.

This guy is very knowledgeable and he gives lots of helpful examples while lecturing. He grades fairly and always give extra bonus points, so remember to come to class after after every exam. Speaking so fast so it would help more if you read more careful

This is not a kick back class, but Gough makes it fun and interesting enough that you won't mind going to class everyday. PAY ATTENTION, take notes, and do the assigned work. He's also lenient with the grading too. Looking for an easy A? No way, you have to study a LITTLE bit.

He's a very good teacher. He not only teaches the information, but also how to analyze the cases. His guide is helpful, and has examples from everyday life, which is easier to understand and remember.

taking this class online is pretty easy, just kick back and rent the videos to view at home, dont have to read the textbook, just read the guide he wrote and you'll ace the test, do all the hw because he gives you perfect credit, do extra credit to boost up exams, which aren't that tough

I took Gough for intro to business a few years back, and it went so well that I decided to change my major to Business Management. I agree with the other students that he is one of the best here on campus. His accounting classes are also very interestingly taught! :O) Gough is one of a kind! :O)

This is the class that you can't miss. Gough is just AWESOME. He's the best pro. i've ever had. If you think law is something you can never take in, take him, you may want to major in law later. Believe me, he really is one of a kind.

Gough is such a great teacher! I got an A in his class but definitely had to work for it. He doesn't give much extra credit so you have to do all the web disc and hw! He always explains what is exactly on the midterm the day before and you don't have to take the final if you do well on all 3 midterms. I would definitely recommend him! :)

one of the best personalities in the campus. explains thing very clearly. you will know about law after taking this class. not hard. just read and the book is very easy and clear (he wrote it by the way, great author). take him and enjoy the best de anza experience ever!

Gough is great, he has great personalities. Long chapters, but the class itself is not bad. Make sure you read, and do the key terms which will help your exam score. Also, stay when he goes over the exam, because he will give you more points.

Very knowledgeable and helpful. Down-to-earth teacher and uses real-life examples to make classes more interesting. He has a tendency to go over the material a little quickly sometimes so it's best if you read over the material first in order to keep up. Great teacher overall and highly recommended.

i tooke him for 2 classes. he tends to go over the material very fast in acct. but just read over the material and you'll be fine. tests are pretty easy. he's a hoot in business law. very funny guy...which you can't tell if you take his distance learning class. i saw it and he's boring in it. best to take the class in person.

He is hot. the test is really easy. just go to the class b4 the test, he will tell you everything u need to know about the test. Read book, cuz he goes fast sometimes. but if u do the HW, and go to the review class u will get an A for sure

i'm taking accounting at UCD right now... and i am so thankful that i took Gough at DeAnza. my professor now sucks. Gough is a lot more clear and his exams are fair. Read the book, go to class, and practice, practice, practice! and you'll do super! i wish Gough taught here!

He is one very funny guy and he tells a lot of personal stories to help you understand. Also he gives you a lot of opportunities for extra credit. I highly recommend this teacher if you wana learn and have fun at the same time.

He is a funny guy to be with in a Law Class. However, don't try to take this law class through Internet. It was so hard to catch up, although I got an A in this class. Take it with him, have fun and learn.

Easy class about 40% of the class gets "A" and tells you whats on the midterm to study for, His jokes are corney. "You guys look so good" + puts on glasses WOW WHAT A DIFFERNCE ...im sick of his jokes but Good teacher... Worth taking !!!

AWESOME TEACHER. he takes such a bland subject like business law and turns it into a lively, interesting topic! he tells great personal stories about his past jobs, friends, family and he is darn funny. pay attention and you might learn something about business.

Easy class, but you still gotta do the work AND study (tricky questions on exams). drops one exam which includes final, so if you do good on first 3 exams, you can keep your grade without taking final! know the terms and DO the extra credit (key terms). DO the web discussions and you get full credit. LAME teacher and TRIES to be cool, gets annoying

Prof. Goush is the best. His Santa Clara MBA really shows. He speaks proper, is super knowledgeable, and demand that people show up (ON TIME) for class. This is a nice, warm guy. He might not seem so at very first contact, especially if first contact is in email, but don't be fooled. He is very nice.

LOTS of reading! Take good notes and do all the reading and you will be fine. The final is not that difficult...multipile choice and some short essays.

I am taking his acct 1B and i can say his class are much easier than tipton's. not much homework and he will tell u wht will be on the exams (review), exams are kinda easy too! bt sometimes he talks quite fast.

At first i didn't like this guy because he goes over the material very fast and his notes are hard to understand. but later he gets easier. he tells you pretty much whats gonna be on the tests. hes very knowledgeable at what he does and has lots of stories to tell. although he does tell alot of bad jokes :P i reccomend him.

at first I hated this guy because he speaks so fast and his handwriting is not that good. However, I later found out that this guy is really hilarious. He often made a joke about his wife who married him because she felt sorry for him. lol! I took him for 1B, 1C, Bus18. Classes are just that easy as long you do the assignment and attend the class.

You have to TRY to fail this class! Its that easy jsut make sure you buy his study guide for definitions but didnt even use the textbook for his class.

Great prof. His lectures are not much more than the book he wrote (which you should buy). Did not really open the other textbook at all. Hardly studied much for his exams and came out with an A. Use common sense. Only thing is if you ask him a question after class you will prob get a long long long answer.

Love him. He knows everything, and he makes it easy for his students. An A is possible, and a B is a-must since he gives out a lot of extra credit. I got 96% when 85%= A. I learned a lot. Thank you, prof. Gough.

Extremely good professor. As long as you read the textbook and attend class daily you'll learn a lot. He does go through things quickly, but as long as you take notes and review them you will definitely get an A. Like others said, he tells you exactly what's on the exams so there are no surprises.

Good Teacher, very funny and not boring. But...he is strict with hw & attendance. Test are hard, Make sure you read all chapters, Buy his outline book its extremely helpful, do all the xtra credit Hw. His in class turn in assignments are worth alot so dont miss classes.

The Facts: (1) He is clear-cut, good looking and informative (e.g., he gives a term -> explains definition -> applies an example). (2) He expects you to do the reading; all lectures will APPLY what you read. (3) He expects you to discuss in class and with teammates. (4) Exams are easy if and only if you read, discuss, and apply what you learned.

I have taken him for both 1a and 1b. He is an awesome teacher and gives a perspective of what the real world will be with accounting. He expects that you know the material. If you do the reading this is not a problem. He also expects that you show up to class on time. Really nice and clear teacher. Goes over cash flows in depth.

Buy the guide and go to every class and you'll do fine. He talks really fast but covers all test information in his lectures.

Online is hard but his website and assignments are clear and he sets you up for the exams with practice problems.

Best teacher - was funny and interesting

One of the best teachers at De Anza. His lectures are clear and easy to understand. He is always willing to help and he gives you no surprises on the Exam. Must take.

Gough has a ton of professional experience that translate into interesting real world examples that pertain to the lectures. He gives group work nearly everyday so attendance is mandatory and tests can be confusing due to wording. He makes up for it by giving +5% extra points on exams by doing the key terms and +3% for attending after the exam. A+

I had Mr. Gough's online class for Acct 1A & didn't pass lol so I took it in person & he is so helpful!! I had a hard time understanding some of the accounting steps but he always answered my questions and would just encourage me to keep trying. He's very clear about the steps but goes kinda fast so make sure to do your hw & READ so you can keep up

Gough is ridiculously straightforward when it comes to tests. What you do on the hw will be on the test, and there are no tricks. He is not very helpful outside of his class, so ask a lot during class. Easy A if you attend class and do homework. Drops lowest midterm. However, there is not much room for error.

Michael Gough is a wonderful professor. He's got a lot of real world experience that he translates into the course. The only thing I regretted was taking it online. I think taking it with him would have been much better because he truly is a wonderful professor.

Awesome class! I had a lot of fun taking this class. Read the textbook chapters and watch the videos, take notes and you will pass. You have to be motivated and actually interested in law to take it online. The textbook is great. He has a few written HW assignments, 3 Wall Street Journal summaries and 1 midterm and a final. Take it!!! :) Got an A.

I have to say you do have to do a lot of own work for this class. But he is there to help you. Not that hard. Plus professor has a lot of experience so he makes it fun also. Do your home work and can't get lower than B. Accounting itself isn't that hard of subject once you learn the basic.

Took this class online and it wasn't too bad. The assignments were all very easy but I'd recommend that you study for the midterms and write a detailed response for the case study. You can't just google the questions for the midterm while you take it. Final is not online, you meet on campus and it was a case study and Mult. Choice. w/ cheat sheet

Awesome instructor with real world experience, who explains things clearly. Tips: 1. Go to class 2. Buy his guide at the bookstore, and read it 3. Study the key terms over and over... Do this and you should do well. Tests are VERY easy IF YOU STUDY. Lectures are very interesting, examining real world examples of subject matter. HE'S THE MAN!

Good class- he was organized and easy to follow - will definitely take him for accounting. Don't get how anybody complains - just do the homework and he is an easy grader

1A and 1B online worked good - the hardest thing is to do the big homework problems in the class those get you ready for the final - final is heavy but page of notes is allowed. I had one question during course and he helped a lot and made sure I understood

Mr Gough gives great lectures. He's a funny guy and makes 2 hours pass pretty fast. Nevertheless, its a pretty demanding class as far as keeping up with the reading projects extra credit. His tests are tough and tricky. Yet you learn a lot of useful info. I would recommend taking the class on-sight.

Gough is great at giving real world examples for the subject, he teaches so that you can actually try and utilize that info in the future. he's also a funny guy makes the 2 hour class go by a lot faster and way more enjoyable. tests are really clear-what you do on hw is basically whats on the test so do your HW come to class should be able to get A

Gough got me in front of PWC and was great at helping with some of the homework. I'd take him again. The final is not online, but none of the accounting class finals are online at De Anza.

One of the easier accounting classes to take, highly recommended. He tests on the core parts of the chapter so you're not required to know every single detail. The tests are 3 questions each and he gives you a review that is similar to 2 of them. Lenient on grading, he'll try to give you as many points as possible even if you did some stuff wrong.

I took accting 1b and 1c with Michael Gough, his class is really easy, even if you do not do all your homework, and pass the exam with at least a B, you'll definitely pass the course. Do all your homework, and you'll for sure pass the class with an A. There is homework online and in class, 3 exam and a final. Final is optional if taken all 3 exam.

Gough gives out lot of written homework, but always does one example in class exactly like your homework. 4 tests each test has 3 chapters. Tests are very much like the written homework. Study and memorize! Gives a lot of partial credit

I took the online Bus Law and it was pretty good - here he is funny in class

Gough is a good professor, he only tests you on the core stuff and doesn't care much about the little details, which is perfect! He's also pretty nice, funny, and rarely boring. You don't have to take the final if you do well on the midterms. Really good teacher

He is funny and helpful. There's online hw and textbook hw but they're only 1 or 2 problems each. 3 midterms and 1 final exam comprehensive but you don;t need to take the final if you do good on the midterms. He only tests you on the essentials of the course. The midterms were 4 problems long and final was 6 problems. Great teacher! I got an A.

I was dreading having to take this class as a business major but it turned out to be my favorite so far at De Anza! Gough is an amazing teacher and keeps the class laughing all the time. He's super generous with extra points too, just make sure you show up to the reviews when he goes over the tests and be on top of the online homework!

It's an A, B, C grade system. Homework was easy because you are allowed to open the homework and go back later. What the hardest for me was the Case(a situation given for you to apply law stuff), the final exam and the Final Case. Took it online. Recommended. I only read the book and got a B so read guide and watch the videos, also the power point.

Professor Gough is a awesome. I usually zone out in classes but I love his lectures. He knows A LOT. He has different business licenses and he has done business everywhere including over seas. This coming quarter will be the third time that I am taking him. Not going to like the class is hard but obviously you have to put in work.

I enjoyed the online accounting class I took with him. He is quick to respond to any questions and concerns. A lot of work in the assignments but it only helps the student get good at the concepts and do well in finals.

Gough's expectations are easy to follow - do the homework - especially the comprehensive problems because that is what is on the final. He allows a page of notes, so there are no surprises. I e-mailed him about four times and he always got back to me (with more info and explanation than needed) soon. Wish he taught 1B online

I think if you take accounting online you need to keep up with the work. He said to make sure you understood the practice sets - and they were basically what was on the final. I took the weekend before the final and reviewed the practice sets and it did the trick. I had taken 1A once before, but had not done the homework so I had to drop.

Took Business Law online. He's great at sending out reminders on what is due, which was helpful for me. Had an assignment due every week which was very doable. Spent a lot of time reading my textbook to understand the material, he does have videos on the lessons, I learn better by reading but the option was nice! Do the work, read and you're good!

If you have to take this for the publ accounting qualification, its a good way to go. all online, weekly discussions that are interesting and not too much of a commitment

If you have to take Accounting Ethics this is the course and teacher to take . He bases a lot of the course on two movies- Enron and Big Short and you see how bad it is when businesses are crooked. You have weekly online discussions and an essay midterm and final. I did it in busy season and actually liked it

Good, not great. Nice, but not nice enough. Apply the concepts of law to hypothetical scenarios for the best understanding, and his tests should be considerably simple to the average student. Recommended to purchase his written workbook for a simplified summary of the textbook and better general understanding. Reading is burdensome, but worth it.

I took this online. This is a pretty great professor. If you do well on the practice sets, you will do just fine. He has videos to help explain the sets after you turn them in. Super helpful. Final is literally the practice sets, so if you understand them you are good to go.

A couple of quizzes and you have to make sure you REALLY prepare for his tests because they're pretty difficult. Final is on campus. Have to respond and write about a couple of Wall Street Journal articles. One essay about responding to a case that he gives us, but overall he responds back your emails fast. All the bus law classes have an on campus final exam so you have to plan for that. The weekly homework wasnt hard and it makes you keep up. I liked the videos because they made the reading easier. You get e- mail reminders about everything. Id take him again

I liked how clear the class was organized and how the practice sets prepared me for the final. I had to contact him a couple of times during the quarter and he got right back to me, so I always was able to stay ahead and that is pretty important with an online accounting class. I wish he taught 1C online

Funny guy I really enjoyed his class. His lectures are great he gives good real life examples that are memorable and easy to digest. Participation points are worth a good amount. Not much homework which is great. Beware not to walk in front of him while he talks in class!

He is fantastic, his examples are legendary. HW was a breeze, tests require you to watch his videos and read the book. He is approachable and makes you laugh.

I took Prof. Gough's online class, his videos were very clear, helpful, and not boring. I liked his online class and did well. I did all the assignments and followed the schedule. This class would be difficult if you are trying to cram everything a day before the exam. This class is for organized students.

Teaches good fundamentals of accounting. Just go over the concepts on the powerpoints that are provided and it should be easy. Class is just homework assignments and the tests and quizzes are basically the same as the homework. I wasn't the best student but the only way to fail is if you don't do anything since the class sets you up to succeed.

I took an entirely online class with Prof Gough. MY ADVICE: get to know your classmates!!! He posts lecture slides on Canvas so that you can take notes if you'd like. Weekly chapter hw on Cengage, 1 midterm and final (also on Cengage), 2 practice sets, 4 web "discussions". He posts a video explanation of his practice sets after you turn them in.

Took Professor Gough fall 2020 during COVID. Everything was online. Most of the work is through Cengage but he has two practice test you have to do by hand. Then he goes through the Practice test and explains everything which was great. It made everything very clear before the actual test. Whish I could take him next quarter!

Homework is on Cengage and you get unlimited tries to get 100%. A few other easy assignments to get 100%. Grade will really depend on midterm and final. Midterm all multiple choice and final was 2/3 multiple choice.

Pretty easy class. All work was through canvas, only had to buy the textbook. There's not a lot of hw or exams (once a week or less). HW is mainly free response midterm/final mainly multiple choice. A lot of self-study and reading, but prof. provides power points & a review video for the midterm.
