SUPER TEACHER! Interresting lectures. Really interrested in his student's thoughts and participation. He prepares you for everything on the tests which are easy and clear tests if you have been there and actively listened. Well educated and informed about comm but also a young groovy guy!

Took his class during fall. Very cool guy who creates a fun environment in class. Lectures are interactive and are geared toward making you think and bring something to the table. Tests are easy as long as you pay attention in class. As long as you interact regularly, you'll get a good grade!

Not a big fan of class participation. Loves to hear himself talk, and although he is brilliant and KNOWS what he is talking about...his class can be a bit repetative because he is constantly lecturing,and requests little involvement regarding his students opinions. Overall- OKAY

Very clear, cares about if the students understood the materials. If you don't get an A, it means you didn't try at all. Very respectful to all students even if they are so out-there.... Fun class!

Anyone who finds this guy hard is crazy. He is boring but for an easy A it is so worth your time. I would suggest taking this class in a short semester. There is a midterm and a final, which he gives you the answers for and two papers which are graded very easily.

Professor Gougis is interesting... He's definately a name-dropper but his lectures aren't painful and he's a pretty cool guy, just interesting. He will force you to see things his way, but the class is so easy that I never minded. He accepted homework late (but we only had two assignments the whole semester). If you're in for an easy A, take him!

Gougis is the****! The material is more or less interesting, however hes a funny/interesting guy himself which makes the class better. Class is easy as ****, 2 easy 2 page essays, goes over everything thats on the midterm the day before. Only 8 weeks.

By far, the best professor for the class he teaches. Extremely nice and caring. Uses real life experiences as examples. If you have to choose between this professor and another, it's a no brainer-Gougis all the way. He makes sitting in a class for that long possible.

the teacher is great.brings in his own personal experience into class.he specifically says that he does NOT accept LATE paperwork and anyways with only 2 written assignments (that are very easy) in the class you have to be plain STUPID to be late on anything.totally recommend him.if he could make me stay in for 3hrs then he can make anyone.

Well his lessons might be boring sometimes, but its not his fault,the topics are. Well unless you have a lot of opinion on the subjects, the key to getting an A in this class, is MEMORIZATION! i got an A in his class by memorizing his notes for test and finals.Tho he gives 2 test that are not from his notes& but its easy.Helpful&entertaining!

I don't know what some of the people below me are talking about. I <3 this teacher. He is fun and funny. He doesn't care if you like him or not, or if he likes you or not. Just get involved in the work and prove to him that you are and you can pass with a A or B.

He is so nice and funny. The topics are very interesting and open your eyes to the reality of the mass media. The class is easy. Each test was take-home and the homework was to read the communication reader. I would recommend anyone to take his class during a shorter semester.

Very easy class. Show up on time, listen, take notes, participate in discussion. That's all you have to do. Minimal studying. If you can write a one-page essay, you will ace the class. I would suggest taking this class in a 6-8 week setting instead of the 16-wk semester. 20-30 min breaks.

He summarizes everything u need to know on the board and he repeats the important material almost in every single class, so it becomes common sense eventually. Take this professor. One of the greatest. Knows his stuff and the class is cake. So long as you show up on time, turn off your cell phones, and take good notes, you'll Ace the class. He tells you everything you will need to know, multiple times. He's a character though, strange laugh, "but I digress". Just be on time, turn phones off, and get an A!

8 weeks in the spring. Totally worth taking,4 quiz's all take home, final which he gives u a study guide for. Just make sure you come to class, on time and dont use your cell phone. You'll get an A.

At first i thought this class was going to be superficial and over the top, but as we got deeper into the material/analysis of the media it was actually pretty eye opening and interesting. Nice guy, interesting class, very, very easy. Just show up, read, and use your brain like a normal human, and you will do fine. Oh, and NO CELL PHONES.

The class is VERY easy but he is ridiculously boring at times. He is also EXTREMELY against cell phones, like CRAZY about it. Gougis is the more amazing professor I have ever had. He knows what he's talking about and teaches in a way that is fun and entertaining. There's a lot to copy from the board, but it helps you on the quizzes. Gougis' class will change you're life and teach you to love communications.

A fantastic professor. Really makes you see the world through a different lens. This is one of those classes where work is minimal but you learn SO MUCH. Easiest class I've taken at SMC. Took his 8 week class, got an A. Class consisted of turning in four quizzes, mid-term, and final, all take home. He is one of the best teachers at SMC, I would give him a 6 out of 5. Almost everyone in my class got an A, at least 80% of the class. It is interesting, funny and this class made me change my major. Dont use your cell phone, and dont be late. Thats it. His 8 week course is better than the 16 week :) and no textbook!

If you like to skip class and use your phone then do not take him, you won't pass. The guy is crazy and some of the stuff he says is wildly inappropriate. He can be funny and is chill. He is super clear on what he wants and with the material. If you study what he asks for on tests and quizzes you can get an A. He let my class out early everyday.

Great professor. There's only one simple rule to remember; turn your cell phone off and put it away. Pretty simple but people still seem to get it wrong. His quiz questions come VERBATIM from the lecture and reading assignments. If you get the questions wrong, its because you didn't do the reading or didn't take notes. Highly recommended class.

Um, I think Media10 was a bit hard to understand if you're international students & you place ESL 11A-B. However, this class was very interesting & changed my view of Media. Make sure turn off your phone, read assignments, and take notes. I got 89% at the end of semester, but he still gave me an A :) Again, his class was very interesting!!

He doesn't require a textbook so make sure to take notes of what he shows during the lecture. That's what the tests are all about. You literally have 3-4 very easy HWs during the semester. The class itself is very interesting! Involving media and gender and race are very difficult topics to talk about and he does an amazing job at explaining. Discussion posts and quizzes every week. His book is good too, very thin and straight to the point. He gives you study guides that literally are the answers to the midterm and final.

If you get caught using your phone, it will not end well for you. The class is not hard whatsoever (easy A), but definitely turn off your phone when class starts because it can cost you points.

Easy A if you just do the small bit of reading and put a bit of effort into assignments. Interesting material and nice professor, take him if you can.

Super easy class, just put in the work. Took it online summer 2020, super nice guy. An actually interesting class! The book is his, it's basically a website, super short. Just do the discussions, use the textbook for the quizzes and tests, and you're good.

Great professor, I didn't spend any money for a textbook or anything. Just read all the material he provides you within the modules. Interesting class, just make sure to stay on the deadlines and remain open-minded! There is a decent amount of writing, but they are on interesting topics that you get to expand your opinion on. I recommend as a GE

Just finish Media10 with professor Gougis and I received 96%. It is very possible that you receive 100% in this class. The class is easy, I recommend this course and the professor as well. Quizzes, mid-term and final exam were very easy. Easy assignments and sometimes will need to reply to one classmate. No textbook needed, response fast to emails.

Professor Gougis is great. One quiz and one discussion per week and they are very straightforward. The quizzes are literally based off the book. Read the chapters, take notes, and you'll be good.

The absolute best teacher. His lectures were always fun to watch and the class is pretty straightforward and easy. As long as you submit the assignments in time, you should have an easy time receiving an A.

Professor Gougis is someone who I recommend for this class. Class consists of one quiz and discussion that are straightforward. The assignments are pretty easy and there is no textbook. Caring and responses to emails quite fast.

I truly loved the way the class formatted. There was a discussion and short quiz every week, fairly easy. There was sometimes an assignment you would have to do on your own. The discussions were super engaging and interesting. If you love media, take him! His lectures are not long and very straightforward. Midterm/final exam are easy as well.

He is a nice professor, but since his grading scale is 0-5 on a lot of the assignments, its pretty easy for your grade to drop. Weekly discussions and short quizzes, but be very specific with your writing. Remember to not go over 3 sentences for a paragraph or points are docked. Reading is fine, can get it done in like 30 minutes.

Took this class in 8 weeks. Light grader and easy assignments. As long as you put in a slight effort you'll earn an A. Quizzes and Tests are all off the reading and is very easy.

He's cool I guess, but his class is set up where you can get an A /100% on his assignments the whole year but come June if you don't do well in the final assignments, (worth 23 and 20 respectfully) you will pass but it will be borderline like 70% esque, Pretty good grader though, good topics, also every assignment is due every Friday.

Professor Gougis' MEDIA10 class is an easy A if you stay on top of the weekly assignments. The quizzes and exams are straightforward, and unstuck study proved to be a helpful study tool. Just be mindful of the strict formatting rules.
