He is a good teacher that tell us what is the question on exam. don't need to go to lecture but there is a discussion class need to participate every friday. His TAs give a lot helpful responds to the quizs and final exam.
Dr. Graham's lectures are clear, concise, and he takes every and all questions seriously and sincerely. Though some of the material he covers is admittedly dry for some students, he gets the necessary imformation across in an easy-to-understand fashion.
He knows what he's doing. He's very interested in the the subject matter, and seems to sincerely enjoy teaching it. Very clear about what he wants, and gives feedback within a reasonable amount of time. HIGHLY reccomended!!
This professor is a lively and interesting lecturer, but is too fast to keep track of the whole time. The exams and papers require you to really get into some dense material, so you really have to study hard.
Took him during Winter session. He is a very good lecturer, very knowledgable man. If you take good notes and skim through the reading he assigns, you should have no problem.
Gives outlines of the lectures which he sticks to presicely (very helpful). Everything he says is helpful for the quizzes and exams, and he is very clear. Not too much student participation in my class though which kinda sucked.
Material comes off as being kind boring or confusing at first but he usually goes in depth into things as time goes on. He's really into the subject so he can talk for days but it's cool cause he wants you to understand it. He wants you to pass. I missed the midterm and he still let me take it like 3 weeks later. Two TA's were helpful with studying
boring.. seriously if you aren't extremely interested in the subject, you probably shouldn't take it with him.. monotone voice does not help. TA's are very helpful though.
Somewhat of a long winded teacher when it comes to lectures, but a good teacher, and a pretty easy class with a lot to learn
A lecture based course, with 4 required texts. Prof. Graham provides lecture outlines that are helpful and supplement his lectures. He is very knowledgeable of the US judicial system, and keeps lectures interesting with anecdotes.

This man is a true master of his field. His lectures are full of extra pieces of info to give some entertaining nurishment to some contents of subjects that are fairly dry. He is very helpful, and very busy. It seems that he is always hard to pin down when you need to catch him face to face. He seems to enjoy the female students a little more... understood.

COuldnt hear a word the guy said in class... But he comes off as being really intelligent... U dont even need to go to Lectures, just go to class on friday and the Ta's sum up what was talked about
If you want a good grade in the class you should go to the lectures... but you don't need to listen... just copy down the outline he has for an overhead and then go to your TA discussion groups on Fridays. Grade is made up of 2 midterms, 2 quizzes, and a final and the TAs pretty much tell you almost exactly what's on them.
I went like three times and got a C... his tests are fine and whatever but he is BORING.
Boaring do not take this class early in the morning!!!
he knows alot and speaks fairly quickly, so be a fast notetaker. the midterm and final are essay questions, and in all of his classes including PLSI 200, just be thorough in your essay answer to get good marks.
Hes REALLY boring, hard to pay attention to his lectures. as a result, i didnt really learn anything i didnt already know. However, his tests are super easy. the fill-in and multiple choice parts are really simple questions, and the essay questions are usually easy to write about too. and hes an easy grader on the essays!
I can't accurately grade his helpfulness because I haven't been to office hours, but he's a great lecturer: very clear, easy to pay attention to. It's easy. I haven't opened the textbook once yet and have already gotten an A on the midterm... if you have an interest and some background knowledge in political science, this class should be a breeze.
Easy and very straight-forward class. A lot of reading but it's managable.
Very smart guy, there is usually 2 lecture classes and a small discussion group, You dont really need to attend the lectures. His midterm and finals are essay questions an he gives them to you a week prior. Easy, helpful class that i thuroughly enjoyed.
This class was hard if ur not into politics but with the help of the fri. discussion classes with ur teacher aide u can easily pass with a B or Higher in the class. Dont need to attend MW as long as u go on F. 2 quizes and 2 exams. Exams are multple essays he gives in advanced so u can study, then chooses 1 to be the actually test. Overal god class
Hes pretty clear during lectures but discussions on friday definitely helps a lot. 2 quizzes by the TAs and midterm + final which is easy since you have the questions ahead of time. Out of 5, he usually picks 2 you can choose from and there are review sessions that help a lot.
Easy class as long as you show up on Friday and get the notes from the TAs. They tell you ALMOST EVERYTHING (at least exactly where to find the exact answer in your book) you need to know for both quizzes, midterm & final. Never went to lecture, but got a B just by studying the night before. Take him!
This class is very hard if your going in not knowing anything about Politics. I went in not knowing anything and when he lectured i was so lost. But sessions on fridays help a lot. If you have a good TA then you'll get a good grade. No HW. Grade based on 2 quizzes and two exams. This class is easy to pass but not easy to get an A in.
Very nice professor. Lecture can be boring at times. If you go to class and pay attention, passing this class should be a breeze.
If you are into politics, take this class, you will really enjoy it.If politics are not your thing, beware, it is hard to stay awake during most lectures. Look around and heads are bobbing everywhere. Basic class, easy to pass as long as you show up, pay attention, write down everything he says and repeat it in essay form in the midterm and final.

Professor Graham is a very nice professor. He is passionate about American Politics. I enjoyed his class and learned a lot. It is a little boring at times, but what isn't? The study groups on fridays are very helpful I recommend going to those if you want to get a good grade.
Graham is a great guy! He loves politics and you can tell. I learned alot but this class was not easy. You have friday disscussion section and if you get a bad TA you have to go to the lectures ALL the time. You get review questions before the four test which help sooo much. All in all the class was great.
I've taken 3 classes with Professor Graham (PLSI 200, PLSI 551 and PLSI 552) and would highly recommend him to anyone interested in American Politics or Law, especially if you plan on going to law school. His lectures are interesting if you are into the topic, otherwise you might find them boring. Tests easy since he gives the questions beforehand
Dr Graham is brilliant. I took him for a summer/ compressed class. He gives out lecture notes the day before each class. He comes in with 1 page of notes and lectures for 3 hours with a thorough knowledge of the subject. Take him, 3 take home papers, no exam, and I learned a great deal.
Great professor. Really enthusiastic about what he teaches. The lectures could be a little bit dry if you're not into politics, but for the most part it's info you should know. Lectures are pretty detailed, don't need to know everything mentioned for exams. No papers, only midterm, final, and some quizes. Easy A.
Crucial Material which you should definitely learn. The teacher is really good at explaining the material and getting your attention. Sometimes material might get redundant and boring but not often. Hopefully you get a nice and helpful TA like me. Quizzes and Tests are really easy. Easy A
Professor Graham is a great teacher! Definitely knows his stuff. The lectures are dry though... but take good notes and you'll pass his tests and class. All tests are based of his lectures. Don't worry about buying the books, if you get a good TA, you won't need the books. Good class for people to complete GE and learn a lil bit about US politics.
Class is based off of midterm, final, and two quizzes. I studied my butt of and got a D+ and I went to every single class and the discusions, not cool. He has a very monotone voice which makes you not want to listen. most people fell asleep in this class. Not highly recommended
He can lecture for a long time about politics so take good notes! He doesn't write anything on the overhead so you really have to listen. Overall, he's an OK teacher.
Brilliant guy; has a rational ultraconvincing yet not brashedly imposing opinion on just about everything. Knows how and when to tell a good history/politics story. Easy tests if you memorize the study guide.
He knows what hes talking about. He's a very smart guy. BUT his GOV. class is sooooo boring. It's a straight hour of talking. He doesn't write one single word on the projector. It was very hard to distinguish what i should write down. If you could, take another teacher. Again, nice, smart teacher. BUT Boring class with useless info.
I never bothered going to class on Monday or Wednesday but I went on Fridays. I feel like Fridays' class is important because if you have a good TA, then you're well prepared for the 2 quizzes, midterm, and final. I went to class once a week and I still managed to get an B!
Seems passionate about the subject. Class is straightforward. If you attend the big lectures, really pay attention, and take good notes, you will do good on the 2 quizzes, midterm and final. They are all based on the lectures. The texts are good referecnces. Easy to talk to and willing to help. Great professor.
2 lectures/week with Graham, and 1 discussion section/week with TA. He is a pretty good lecturer, does not write anything down so be sure to take precise notes. Has some pretty funny Political Stories. My TA was amazing, she basically taught us everything again. Pray that you have a good TA! Grade based on 2 quizzes, Midterm and Final. Take him!!
Professor Graham is very nice. He is very passionate about the subject he teaches. I only wish that the class was less than a hundred students bc I feel like it would have been better for learning. The class is HUGE. Your grade basically depends on your teacher aide, how helpful and nice they are.(they will grade your exams/essays).
He lectures every single class and can get quite confusing, never sure what to write down or not. I slept through the majority of his lectures. Grade is based solely on two in class essays. What saved me was the discussion, show up and you'll be fine. Best discussion leader is SEAN MYERS, he clarifies everything from lecture and whats on the essays
Sean Myers? No way, best TA has gotta be TARA! You definitely have to work hard if you dont know politics. Essays were made a bit easier thanks to study guides. Bigger book was only useful for clarity on additional material. Lots of notes. Discussions go by very fast. Class is worthwhile! But almost no contact with the actual teacher (graham)
Absolutely wonderful professor! He is a Southern gentleman and just a nice man. Not only is he classy but he knows the material well and you learn so much. I definitely recommend taking any class taught by Professor Graham. My only complaint is, for this class, your entire grade is on essay exams. Perhaps he should add participation to the grade?
Great teacher. He is monotone, but his lectures are really well defined. He sends out outlines via email ahead of time and they really help guide your notes appropriately. Do the reading & go to class. = ) SEAN MYERS was an amazing TA! He was so good at going over the essay questions and preparing us for the exam and answering all of our questions.
this is a large lecture class! there is only a midterm and a final that are essays written in class. it was pretty interesting, but just ok overall. i would take the class again with Graham if i had to. just make sure you go to class and take notes so you're ready for the exams
I really liked this class. Two days he lectures, and Friday we meet in sections to review w/ a TA. I recommend going to the lectures. He tests you only on what he says, not what you read. I never even opened the books, and I got an A. Study your notes before the final/midterm, but it's really not a very stressful class. I definitely recommend it.
I love this guy! He gives lectures in extreme detail, so it's super important to come to his lectures and write as much notes as you can. I didn't really like my TA, but I like how Mr. Graham does his lectures. I would definitely reccomend him as a teacher if you really want to learn about American Politics
I loved this class. I took it last year. He's very clear in his lectures, and makes it fun with anecdotes. Some may find it boring, but it's the subject, not him. I barely used the text. Graham's a very approachable and friendly guy. I highly recommend taking his classes - he made politics make sense to me.
A real teacher I enjoyed learning from. Easy tests, so long as you take notes and go to all the classes.
he is really smart and is able to regurgitate facts and dates like a text book, which makes the class about as exciting as a text book too, but the information is good and the over all structure is set up in a way where the only way to really fail the class would be to not show up. id take this again, i would just learn to take more coffee
Tara is definitely the best TA. My ratings are based off of her. She told us exactly what we needed to know and went over everything from lecture. There are only two quizzes and two tests (midterm and final) but you have to study a lot for them. but DON'T BUY THE BOOKS.
Very helpful and interesting would recommend this teacher to anyone
i thought he was a great teacher and in most poli sci classes teachers can be bias toward certain parties but he did a great job at being neutral. he's taught everything in a critical way. a lot of people don't go to class but it really does benefit you.
This class was really easy, I went to every MWF class and got an A-. I would just recommend taking notes and paying attention in the Friday study sessions. At times it can be boring but just try to take in as much as possible. I don't recommend buying any of the books the articles you read can be found online and you NEVER need to read the text boo
You dont have to go to class or pay attention to Graham at all, what matters is going to the TA studdy sessions before quizes and test. Take notes at the sessions and study them and you will Ace this class for sure.
EASY CLASS! IF YOU REALLY WANT TO LEARN GO TO THE LECTURES, TAKE NOTES AND GO TO THE TA'S FOR HELP. BUT IF YOU WANT AN EASY A, GO TO THE TA'S REVIEW SESSIONS FOR THE QUIZZES, MIDTERM AND FINAL AND YOU WILL BE FINE. ATTENDANCE NOT MANDATORY. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE TA'S TO PASS THE CLASS! THEY PRACTICALLY HAND YOU THE ANSWERS FOR THE TESTS!
So boring! Almost always fell asleep! Books were a waste of money! If you've taken an American government class in high school you'll probably do fine, alright teacher
Dr. Graham is a very nice guy and knows his stuff very well. He can explain anything you ask him about politics. the only problem is it is hard to pay attention to his lecture. He gives you an outline but he writes nothing down. The TA reviews on fridays are the best. I had Brittany and she was awesome and extremely helpful for clarifying things.
Stopped attending lectures in September, only went to the discussion sessions on Fridays, didn't read "Points of View", and only read the main book right before the midterm and final. My grade? A- Sure it feels crappy to slack so much, but now I see I did all I needed to. Reading and lectures were a waste of time. You aren't tested on most of it.
Go to the TA lecture and his lectures and just take notes, he talks a lot and if you follow him you wont fall asleep. TA session is the most important PS: its a 600 student class and he made a mistake on my final grade i was supposed to get an A but got a B bc of his error so just watchout and record your stuff,
Go to the lectures and take down as many notes as possible though it should be hard. Essay questions on midterm and final,he tests only what he teaches so textbook is not very useful but can be as reference. The class is not super easy but if you take good notes, you should be fine.
He is friendly and knows topic but too much reading for summer class. 4 books in 5 weeks, plus 3 essay exams. He talks way too fast. He takes forever to grade papers and didn't even try to get the papers back timely before the second essay is due so you dont know how to improve. Refused to email grades since grading was late. :(
nice enough guy, but not a very good professor. lectures follow the outline he hands out, but moves through it so fast that it is very hard to follow. expects A LOT of writing for the midterm and final. virtually impossible to get him to respond to e-mails. he is the prelaw advisor as well and i felt like i got nothing out of him from my advisin
2 quizzes (fill-in/multi-choice/short answer), a midterm (essay Q), and a final (essay Q). Go to lecture, take notes, and go to the TA lab meetings (lab attendance will affect your final grade). All material on quizzes/exams are based on lecture -DON'T BUY THE BOOK. Great class overall. Easy A if you're diligent about going to class/taking notes.
Easy class if you know the general information, be sure to attend the friday TA lab's, that's where you'll actually learn something. Main lecture is incredibly boring and he frequently goes off on tangents. Test and quizzes are easy if you put roughly 10 minutes of studying into each before the actual exam.
I have an A. You do not need the text. Quizzes are harder than the essay exams. Need to pay attention in lecture to pass quizzes without the text. Only 2 quizzes and 2 essays exams. Essay exams are not too bad at all. Intelligent man, but not very interesting to listen to. He tries though. TAs are most helpful
He gives two essay exams, which are easy as long as you prepare your outlines ahead of time, and two quizzes which are more difficult than the exams. He actually does have a student pick the essay question for the exam from a hat. Do not expect the option to be able to choose which question you want to write on! Easy if you study
Went to the lecture about half the time, but the discussions are important to go to. My teacher basically rexplained everything that he went over. The essays are easy, he gives out a couple questions ahead of time. Never read any of the texts, most questions weren't based of them. Quizzes were hard, kind of based on text. I passed.
The professor is boring and often goes on tangents, which is why I only attended two lectures throughout the entire semester. Depend more on TA than prof. Hope for a good TA, otherwise you're doomed. 2 exams, 2 tests graded rigidly. Never used the book. Not too hard, recommended if you're willing to read to skip class.
He gives his lectures willed with anecdotes from history which is interesting in it self but I see why some ppl find it boring. its an easy class, show up for TA sessions where everything is summed up and discussed. Again, just b/c its an easy class it an opp to relax and listen to the stories about America. I enjoyed this class.
He is not a good instructor. Lecture is not clear. Quiz is not easy but essay is fine (as long as you prepare) I hate this class no matter what. Boring, no idea what he is talking about.
Lectures are very boring and difficult to understand since he goes quickly and does not repeat material. This class is all about the midterm and final which are essays. There are two quizzes but they are not difficult if you review the book. Study book before all tests and this class should be easy for all people
This class was interesting and insightful. Gained great knowledge from the professor and my TA. Straight to the point with lecture outlines. I enjoyed the lectures, while some students opt out and read the book. Pay attention & take notes and you won't have to purchase the textbook. 2 quizzes, mid-term, final; prepare and you will kill this class.
It's best to buy the textbook if you know you're going to miss class at least one or two times. As the textbook is a very helpful tool to prepare you for the quiz and future uncertainties. The book is extremely straight to the point and easy to read. The class itself can be pretty boring at times. Cross your fingers in getting a good TA.
One of the top 10 worst professors I've had in my life. You must sit up front in order to hear this guy. Jumps around a lot during lectures. At times myself and other students were lost on which part he was talking about. If you are not a textbook reader, do not take this class... Also, he DOES NOT CURVE!!!
Terrible Professor. When a majority of the class does bad, you would expect a curve...NOT! Must sit up front to hear. Jumps around a lot in lectures. The book and I became best friends. If you do not want to be best friends with your book, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS.
His class is entirely lecture based and just him speaking at you with no effort to make the lecture interesting. His lectures jump around so much that the outlines he emails are virtually useless. There are two quizzes, a midterm, and a final. The quizzes and the finals are weighted equally. I 100% recommend a different professor.
If you want to get talked at for 3 hours with no visual aids or anything then take Graham. He talks too fast to write his lectures down even with his outline. there are 4 things in the grade book: quiz, midterm, quiz, final. If you mess up on the quizzes you basically arent going t do well in the course. Look luck staying after break.
This class is pretty hard, Michael is a cool guy and very nice but I dont think he teaches his class very well. Its hard to catch all the information he gives out in 3 hours, so its best to read to pass the hard quizzes. The essays are easy and you should be fine if you try.
Took professor Graham for the judicial internship. Met every two weeks, he is laid back. He is hilarious and respected by students. Almost doesn't feel like he's a professor because he is so awesome. He did a great job at answering questions. EVERYONE should take a class with him if given a chance. SFSU, hold onto him! Thank you professor! You rule
Good Teacher. You'll learn alot about Political Science from him. But the sad thing is he doesn't concentrate too much on the actual topics. Often goes along telling his Poli Sci stories. Attendance is a good thing, Quizzes are tough. But if you come to class youll do Okay. Exam questions are given a week before to prepare. Exam grades are easy
Professor Graham's class is very lecture heavy. I took a 3 hour and we only had a 10 minute break. So be prepared. He is VERY passionate about what he is teaching so he made it very interesting. Also he loves class participation, but does not require you to speak. I learned a lot from this class and am glad I took him.
