Attendance for this class is not mandatory while he taught at Bryant. Professor Grande means well except he is not the greatest teacher and can be inconsiderate.
Good guy. Bad Professor
Professor Grande is a nice and laid back guy. His tests are pretty straightforward, and he's a fair grader. Attendance is not mandatory though he suggests we attend lest we miss his "pearls of wisdom". All in all a fairly enjoyable class.
Great guy, straight forward class
Very helpful and enthusiastic. Goes over all the homework in class and explains everything well. Exams are somewhat tough and can be confusing but he is generous with the grading. If you do the homework and study a little for exams, the class shouldn't be too hard.
Great guy. Funny, jokes around and takes the time to get to know every student. Straightforward with exams and grading. You'll know exactly what to expect going into a test. Very down to earth and generally a stimulating class.
My favorite teacher yet! Loved him and wish i could take him next year. He has 5 exams and he tells you exactly what will be on them, homework and attendance isnt mandatory and hes hilarious and makes class interesting and well worth going to. Very nice and gives much effort into getting to know you. DEFINITELY take him!
this guy is the man! makes class interesting and attendance is not mandatory. Tests have two or three questions on them which he goes over before you take them
Great Teacher. He is very fair and makes class so interesting. If you can take him do it, and you'll be extremely happy. Makes lots of jokes, and keeps everyone entertained.
Follow these steps to get an "A" in Accounting. Register for his class. Go to class, do your homework. He gets to the point and is a great teacher! Exams = Homework Problems.
One of my favorite teacher's ever. He truly wants to teach and help his students. As long as you go to class and do the homework, there should be no reason not to get an A. Really funny guy..made me want to be an accounting major.
He's a great teacher who ignores textbook definitions and teaches whats important in the book. I never read the book once because he taught us well whatever we needed to know. Posts answers to homework online so you can use them to study for a test. Study the problems you do for homework and you'll get an A. Highly recommended.
Go to class and he will love you, joke around with him and he will love you, study the problems that he highlights in the homework and do well on the tests and he will love you even more. Show interest and you will get atleast a B. Study the homework assignments and that's all you need to know and don't get messed up by format of the tests.
Great personality, relates well to students. He makes females melt and the guys love him too. Testing -tells you what is on the test and grades straight forward - you get what you earn. Liberal grader on research papers - likes Excel skills
Grande is the man. Best Professor I have ever had. Just a boss.
He's ok
Took him for managerial and the class is extremely strait-forward. Tells you exactly what is going to be on the test and participation counts for 20% of your overall grade. That being so, think twice if you plan on taking it at 8:30 and sleeping through a few, it can really hurt your grade
Grande puts off a cool vibe to start, but after further evaluation, he is very fake and has no problem stabbing a student in the back. i wouldnt recomend taking him, his tests are hard and he grades like the test taker dates his daughter. Grande isnt cool.
Avoid taking Grande... the guy is all talk, very little substance
Grande is my favorite professor at PC. He is really interested in helping his students, therefore go to class and attempt the homework and you will be fine. Overall great teacher, highly recommended
great guy and amazing teacher
He is a PC Alum so he understands student life. GREAT guy. The class is very entertaining. He says a lot of jokes and he likes to bust chops in class. The material is boring but he makes its bearable. An A is definitely possible if you do the homework problem. #1 professor at PC!
Grande is funny, approachable and easygoing. He makes you want to go to class. He always go over every homework problem, so you feel prepared when the exam comes. He made me consider becoming an accounting major. Truly an awesome professor, take him if you can!
Loved him! One of the best professors I've ever had. He's very funny too :)
Great teacher and a great class. If you do the homework and come to class there's no reason you should get less than a B+. Exams are fair and based on the homework.
Good guy. Class isnt hard. If youre a good student youll be surprised at how many people struggle with the material. Ended year with close to a hundred average. Funny guy thought. Makes class not a force to go to. Although if he taught more directly often I felt class could have ended much earlier.
Funny and a good guy. Good teach. Go to class, take decent notes, should easily get at least a B+. Definitely recommend him
Literally the man. easiest class ever, easy 100. tests are hw questions. big gpa boost
Michael Grande has been my absolute favorite professor I've ever had, and I had him for Managerial Accounting. He makes his lectures as painless as possible, and lets us out early frequently. There are 6 tests, but he is very clear as what will be on them. Not to mention he is very good looking and so cool with the students. TAKE HIM!!
Professor Grande was a great teacher for Managerial Accounting! Make class interesting but also gives material in a way that is easy to understand. The only thing that comprises your grade is 6 tests (13% each) and the final (not cumulative for me at least - 12%), so if you aren't a great test taker, really study! Enjoyed this class overall!
Grande is definitely my favorite professor so far at PC! He makes everything so clear and straight to the point. The only way to do bad is if you literally do not pay attention at all. He created Youtube videos of problems which were great for studying, and he was funny and made class fun to go to. Would take him again for sure.
Professor Grande is awesome. He teaches the material in a way that is very concise and easy to understand. Tests are very similar to the problems completed in class, if you put in a decent amount of studying an A is very possible. Even though I'm not an accounting major, this ended up being one of my favorite classes. Take him.
Grande was really helpful. He made me really enjoy accounting and I didn't mind going to his class. He never took the full class time but he was really easy to understand.
Professor Grande is great! He made everything clear and simple and the exams were fair. He has youtube videos where he explains problems you'd done in class. Grande a great guy and I would definitely take him again!
Mandatory attendance but no homework. Such a fun and easy to learn class. Enjoyed it so much! Wish I could take him again
Silver fox who makes accounting interesting.
Great guy. He knows what he is teaching is boring but tries to liven it up! He will call on you randomly in class and is pretty sarcastic, but it keeps you awake. No homework, 5 tests but he gives you exactly what you need to study. Trick questions though, so be careful! Overall great prof, would take again!
Its a hit or miss with grande. If he likes you and you go to class and are quiet you'll do well. He doesn't offer much help tho, he does have videos on youtube that kinda help, but aren't up to date so u can't look at a problem and follow along
Professor Grande is the best! Very tough subject, but he tries to make it enjoyable. He is hilarious and always picks on us. He goes through every problem step by step and stops to explain if you need clarity. There are 7 exams, but he tells you exactly what you need to study and you are almost always prepared for them anyways.
Pretty easy Managerial acc class. Very limited homework and he does not use the online connect software. 6 tests, which in the end isn't bad because they are on small amounts of material. An A is achievable with effort.
I learned a lot from his class. He really takes the time to make sure everyone understands the material. Had an exam every 2 weeks so in total 6 exams. It sounds bad but it was so helpful since each exams only cover a small amount of material. I didn't feel overwhelmed. Would definitely take him again.
Had Grande for Managerial Accounting and he is the man. He doesn't like to waste class time so you leave early a lot but he still makes sure everything is clear. His teaching style is the best I have ever had. He's funny and it can make class enjoyable. As long as you study for the 6 tests he gives throuht the semester it is an easy A
Grande is the best. Managerial accounting can be hard but he makes it bearable and easier to understand. Not a ton of work, only 5 tests (10% each) and 5 HWs (10% each). Attendance is mandatory and counts for 10% of your grade. Tests very clear, no surprises. Doesn't waste time, keeps lectures short and cracks a few jokes to keep it light.
Grande is the exact opposite of what I would think a Accountant would be. Funny, great personality, etc. This guy is a total legend. Totally clear in everything he teaches and made managerial accounting the easiest accounting class ever. Definitely take this guy! Straight Cash Homie.
This guys a beauty. Attendance is mandatory, but all you do is go over the problems that you were told to look at for the next class. Some chapters are harder than others, but the tests are very fair. He has legitimate swagger, wears a suit everyday and cracks funny jokes. Great guy Grande.
Professor Grande is legit.. He's the best professor I've taken at Providence College to date. The material isn't necessarily easy but he for sure will make it seem that way. It's extremely encouraging when a teach genuinely cares about his students and wants them to do well.. 10/10 would take this professor again.
Gives you 60 points worth of extra credit for tests that are each 10% of your grade. This basically means that he gives you 6 percentage points. He gives you 20 easy percentage points by just doing the homework and showing up to class. Got 90 and aboves on every test. Learned a lot from him.
Great teacher who does a lot to help you succeed in the class. Would highly recommend.
I honestly love this man. this is the only review I've ever written because he just genuinely deserves it. it's not an "easy A," but he teaches the material really well if you pay attention. he does lots of practice problems and actually explains the material. not a lot of homework, but a lot of tests. not bad though because you know whats coming.
Michael Grande is an awesome guy. He really cares about making the material interesting and he takes into consideration the lives of students at PC. He changed the course this year, making it more difficult and tests are given more frequently. However, he prepares you well for the tests through group work. Overall the class is definitely worth it.
hes the worst lol
Great teacher but horrible personality and all he talks about in class is about ALCOHOL.
Great teacher. Wants everyone to do well. Does not lecture a lot at all and he goes around the classroom to help people do in class problems that are very similar to the exams which are very straightforward you have to work for it but not a difficult class. Do the practice problems you do in class right before the exams and you will get an A.
Great professor. If you're taking 204 then Grande is an excellent choice. One of the best professors on campus.
Awesome professor. You can tell he genuinely cares about his students and wants them to succeed. No homework, group work every class. Be prepared for a quiz or test each week, but he is very clear what is going to be on it. I really enjoyed the class and highly recommend!
Honestly, I failed this class, but I still don't hate the guy. He gives a lot of tests which is a pain, but as long as you go to class and keep up you'll be fine. I strongly recommend doing 20 minutes of work a night and paying attention in class.
Doesnt teach, whole class is teaching yourself. Tells you a quiz or test will be exactly like a handout and its not. Tests are way harder than what examples he gives you to teach yourself. About to drop him
Legit worst professor at PC, don't know how people like this smug dude.
Grande is an excellent man. He literally lays out the entire class for you and how to earn the grade you want. He gives quizzes and tests and no homework. Your homework is to know how to do the problems in class. He is all about real world application. For ACC204, it does not get any better than Pr. Grande. Definitely would take him.
Doesnt teach, whole class is teaching yourself. Hate this dude
Doesnt teach, the tests arent like the practice problems, and hes not responsive to emails or during office hours. Hes also extremely inflexible/ unhelpful when students are struggling.
Maybe he is a great professor normally but wow is his online class horrible. You have a quiz each week on Wiley which is electronically graded and gives no partial credit. Some of the quizzes only require one answer but you have to do an hour worth of work to get that answer, essentially if you mess anything up you get a 0. and he is so unforgiving
I took this course online because of COVID and it was challenging. We only met once a week, when we were supposed to meet three times. When we did meet, Professor Grande asked if we had any questions then sent us into break out rooms. The course is all self-taught and there are weekly tests that are nothing like the practice problems. DO NOT TAKE!
Professor Grande is a great teacher if you want to teach yourself the entire course. He is inaccessible outside of class, when you reach out he will tell you that he can't help you. Gives poor instruction and is very rude.
Grande is a nice guy, took two classes with him and did well in both. If you read the textbook and ask questions when he does problems you will be able to pass every test. The questions are almost identical to what you do in class and he gives lots of chances to get credit.
I'm shocked to read that some people didn't like GrandeHe really does teach you the material and he's super super nice, even gave us 10 bonus points for practically no reason!!! If everyone does poorly on a test, he'll curve it. Grande is super fair. Could be a tad more concise but the guy will work with you / help you. I'd DEFINITELY RECOMMEND!!
Michael Grande is a great guy. Very funny and makes the class fun even though accounting is boring. There is a test every week so lots of opportunities to bring up your grade. You lowkey have to teach yourself though in a hard class. Overall I would take it again but be prepared
If you would like to take a class where you attend class and then the night before the test have to reteach yourself the material because your professor teaches you a different format from Wileyplus which is what your tests are on than this is the class for you! A test every week so be prepared to have a mental breakdown once a week. He sucks.
Not a professor, he is a supervisor. Material is self taught through youtube videos that he recorded 3 years ago. Basically a protor to computer made tests weekly. Compared to other professors at PC he does the bare minimum. His old-fashioned teach yourself and use class time for questions approach is lazy and not expected at a small school
Not arrogant, he does not suck. These bad reviews are horrific. Take Grande when u get the chance. GOAT
One of the most stuck up professors I have ever taken at Providence and in my life. A complete Jerk. DO NOT TAKE
Professor Grande is a great teacher who understands that learning does not have to be difficult or at the expense of your grade. His class is straightforward; he gives you the same practice problems that appear on the exams. He explains everything super clearly and encourages questions if you do not understand what he is teaching. Highly recommend.
Professor Grande is very knowledgable and understanding. He gets to know his students and creates a positive classroom environment. He gives a lot of tests, however they are exactly like what he goes over in class and the review practice problems he posts. Gives a lot of extra credit opportunities at the end of the semester as well!
Prof. Grande is enthusiastic, makes class enjoyable, and is relatable. Class is 2-3 lectures before a chapter test, so tests every week online on WileyPlus. One project, one in class essay and one final. He teaches well, but his flaw is he teaches on paper and all tests are in Wiley format so it takes some adjusting. 10/10 recommend Prof. Grande!
Ignore all the bad reviews and take Professor Grande! I hated accounting before this semester but genuinely enjoyed going to his class every time. Grade is mostly chapter quizzes but they're exactly like the practice problems he gives. Would take him again if I could, 10/10
Professor Grande is an excellent teacher. He goes over problems on the exams, which is helpful. People may initially be intimidated, but he likes to joke around in class. Follow his advice, and you will not fail. Accounting is challenging, but he makes it easier by offering videos, extra problems, etc. Attendance isn't required, but it helps a lot.
Grande is a beast. All tests are online and are graded by an online system. The projects and essays are free grade boosters and he warns you of hard or easy tests before you take them. He uses the textbook a lot and is very clear on what you need to know. It is easy to do well as long as you work hard. Great professor overall.
Grande is a nice guy but really strict about random stuff. Attendance is mandatory for every class, and there is basically a weekly test. He's fine, not my first choice.
attendance is apart of grade. No homework. 9 online chaper tests in class. a couple projects to boost your grade. The final is tough and he makes you sit on the inside of a circle so he can monitor all your screens. Just do the practice problems from textbook and should get an A.
Professor Grande is a really nice guy but does not teach very much. There are 9 tests and one final. All the tests are online and automatically graded so you cannot get any partial credits. He wants his students to watch long and boring Power Point videos on youtube and in class only goes over a couple of problems. You have to teach yourself.
The grading for this class is based off of 9 tests that are work 95% of your final grade. The tests are all multiple choice and online too so there is no partial credit. He makes you teach yourself and he is overall just lazy. I know so many people that had to withdraw form the class because they were going to fail.
If you are someone that needs more than just tests, I do not recommend. I felt like I had to teach myself which was so annoying. He is a nice guy and knows what he is talking about but he acts like we are all accountants and we aren't. He was lowkey no help because all he would tell us was to study. If we failed he would blame us.
Pretty much the whole grade is based on 9 unit tests. About 80% of the grade is unit tests, 17% is the final, and the rest is attendance (no homework). All tests are multiple-choice and pretty simple if you understand the textbook. The only downside is the tests don't have many questions, so getting just a few wrong can drop your grade.
He is very clear about his expectations for the course and explains the problems very clearly. However, your grade is only based on 9 tests and the final, no other grades. He only cares about his class average which he makes clear throughout the year, and truly doesn't care if students are struggling. Flipped classroom, have to teach yourself.
Genuinely awful. No idea how he has such good ratings. Practically your whole grade is based off tests. No homework points and he is getting rid of attendance points next year. You have to teach yourself everything outside of class and come in expected to know how to do all the problems. Tests were extremely hard and he was very unapproachable.
Prof. Grande is a nice guy but his structure to the class is awful. His grading system is based off of more than 9 tests, so many grades suffered. Averages for each exam is in the 70s and provides no feedback or extra credit opportunities. Save your time and choose someone else.
the class in very engaging and easy to pay attention to. you do most of the learning outside of class and then do exercises in class. 9/10 times you get let out early. you only get graded on tests really, which aren't easy. overall, a nice guy and a good teacher for people who learn best by example.
Easy accounting class if you're willing to teach yourself outside of class. Otherwise, you get let out 20 minutes early almost every class and theres no homework (except for teaching yourself the material). such as nice guy too.
Professor Grande is the best professor I have had at PC. This guy is an absolute stud. Lecture heavy and if you read 30 mins a week outside of class you will be good. He connects with his students and is very engaging. He lets you out early most of the time. I would take him 10/10. Highly recommend.
Professor Grande is a nice guy and good teacher. No homework except chapter readings. Doesn't necessarily teach but you learn from doing problems. Tests are the same as class problems and pretty easy if you study. He will let you out at least 10 minutes early every class. Definitely take him.
