Although I don't have much to base this off of, being a freshman, he is definitely someone I would recommend even if you're not into psychology. He genuinely loves what he teaches and wants his students to do well. All MC tests & rarely uses the book. Attending the lectures is a must since that's where the questions come from.

Grant is new to OU, coming from a research background (as he will tell you). The tests he gives are all multiple choice, not cumulative (per exam), and he works very hard to ensure that his tests are fair. All of the info he gives in lecture (along with great examples of concepts and anecdotal stuff, you WILL laugh), and if you miss a class the power points are on the class blackboard page. He genuinely loves what he does and encourages all student interest in his field.

The nicest professor I have ever met. His class isn't that hard and you don't need the textbook. Attendance is required but you can miss 3 days. He goes SO,SO far out of his way to see that his students are happy and succeeding. You can go to his office and talk about anything and everything. Bonus: He's hot if you're into older men.

I absolutely love him. He makes the class so interesting that I actually attend for fun. You need to go to class anyway unless youre going to read your textbook. His tests go well with the notes he gives us. Hes just awesome okay.

Dr. Grant was my favorite professor and I was in a class of 400 so that's saying something. He is very straight forward. Great guy. I would totally recommend taking him!!

Very fun and good-humored teacher, always has stories and anecdotes for every chapter. Even in a class of 400 I felt like I was getting a lot out of it. Don't need the text book at all, everything comes from lecture notes (though you don't really even have to come to class to do okay). Nice guy and a genuinely good teacher.

Grant is the best! His lectures are always clear and if you just look over your notes, you'll do well on his tests. He's passionate about what he teaches and makes it easy to understand. He's totally understandable and my favorite professor I've had at OU! I completely recommend him.

Dr. Grant is very, very smart and funny. Most people loved him. The exams take a lot of studying but you will get a decent grade if you put in good hours of memorization. The course was interesting.

Dr. Grant is seriously the coolest Psychology professor. Very funny, very intelligent, and very interactive with his lecture class. His tests are somewhat difficult, but his notes are extremely thorough and include everything that is on his exams. As long as you pay attention and study, you will do great. He makes General Psychology interesting!!

Seriously Dr. Grant is the best professor in the entire world. He tells you exactly what will be on the exam and doesnt try to trick you on test questions! He makes lectures interesting and keeps your attention for the entire lecture. If you don't take psychology with Dr. Grant you are really missing out. I never used the book though.

This is my 2nd class with Grant and he is literally the chillest professor I have ever met. Behavioral Genetics isn't hard if you actually STUDY. He doesn't take attendance (except on random days for very few points) but don't expect to never go to class and get an A. Also, he is always down to talk to students and help them out in his office.

Grant is all-around an awesome professor. My other Psych classes will be taken with him.

Dr. Grant is a nice guy with lots of personality, and it shows in his lectures - there hasn't been a boring one yet. He likes to make sure students understand the concepts before moving on and he is willing to answer any questions to help you. He lets you know what points are important but does say all the lecture notes are fair game.

He is really funny and he really cares about his students. He tries his best to give as many examples as possible so students understand. He posts the slides online, so when you come to class you can type right in the slides. It makes taking notes a whole lot easier. Come to class. He gives info that isn't on the slides but will be on test.

Professor Grant has been my favorite professor this semester, and his class has been my favorite too. As another comment said no you do not need the book which is a life saver for students who struggle financially. Go to class because he tests over just lecture material and also gives out a study guide. He cares about his students and his field.

Dr. Grant was amazing. His lecture were informative and he kept my interest throughout the semester. The class was fairly easy, you just took four test (mostly multiple choice). If you go to class and take notes you will pass. He post the slides before every class, so you only need the book if you miss a class.

There was a textbook, but I never touched it. You don't have to go to class, but his tests are 100% his lecture. If you take good notes, which he stresses, you will get at least a B. He is very nice and has a good sense of humor. Lectures could be long, but he had a way to relate to students. Talked with us, not at us. He's great.

Michael Grant, aka. "The Silver Fox of the OU Psych department", made Psychology class a pleasure to attend. I left every lecture satisfied that I had learned something new. I wish he was my dad.

Dr. Grant is the best professor I've ever had. Pay attention during lecture - which is not a difficult task seeing that they are freaking amazing. I don't even like kids, but his child & adol psych class was so interesting. Only 4 tests a semester so study hard!! He loves what he does & is a total hunk. Great guy. Funny, brilliant, and very sweet.

I had PSY 1010 with Dr. Grant in a 400-person lecture in Morton 201. He is a pretty funny guy, and he practically gives his exams to you beforehand, because he tells you if something is important and he gives you study guides. You have to do case studies for credit, and you can do more if you wantneed extra credit. I never bought the book.

Dr. Grant is a great professor and I would love to take more of his courses. Your grade is based on 4 easy multiple choice exams. You also have a chance to write papers for extra credit (optional). You do not need the book, all his questions come straight from the lecture, so just go to class and you'll do great. A 100% in this class is realistic.

Awesome teacher. Big class, no mandatory attendance. I never even bought the book, I just went to almost every class and took notes on that. Very helpful, all you have to do is ask!

Dr. Grant is an amazing professor and incredibly knowledgeable! If you like psychology then you'll LOVE his class. His class isn't hard if you go to class and take good notes, he post outlines for exams and gives you the option for extra credit. He's a great character to meet as well!

Michael's lectures are an hour and twenty minutes, but he doesn't speed through his material and he's thorough when explaining his concepts. Attendance is not mandatory, but it's helpful to go because although he does post his lecture slides online he sometimes says things that are not on the slides. Oh and YOU NEED TO STUDY FOR THE TESTS.

Dr. Grant is a great professor. His PSY 1010 lectures are easy to follow and even gives a few test answers away if you pay attention. Test are fairly easy IF you study. He gives extra credit if you want to work for it. Dr. Grant is a great guy and wants his student to succeed. I would recommend anyone taking PSY 1010 to take Grant!

LOVED HIM! I enjoyed going to class! He is a great teacher and willing to help in his office hours, but you have to put effort in too so he can see you are trying. However the tests are super hard and thats all that goes towards your grade... so STUDY! Also do as many experiments because extra credit!!!!

Dr. Grant's class was pretty easy if you go to class and study for the tests. You only have 4 exams, and have to complete research participation that go toward your grade. That being said, tests are important!! During his lectures he gives you some things that will for sure be on the test that helps out tremendously!

This class was very easy! He is very nice and very willing to help his students. Take notes and write down what he says in class. He gives a lot of hints at what will be on the exams. The exams are very straightforward and questions come right from the notes. I did not use the textbook at all. I would definitely take another one of his classes.

An absolutely amazing professor I took his class once and now I want to take all I can with him. He makes the information super interesting you can tell he is super passionate about hat he is teaching you. Plus as long as you show up and take good notes you'll have a good grade. 4 exams are the only thing you are graded on.

One of my favorite professors ever. Makes going to class fun and engaging. I learned a lot from him. He's hilarious and very smart, and presents the information in a retainable way. I will definitely take more of his courses in the future if I can.

I would have to say Grant is my favorite professor I have encountered in college. He is a very nice teacher and very relaxed. His exams are really fair as long as you go to class and study. He recommends buying the book for extra help but only tests over his lectures so it is possible to get an A without the book!

One of my all time favorite professors! I've had him for 3 classes now. He cares about students and is so easy to talk to. Puts powerpoint slides online. Exams are a breeze. Attendance is extra credit. Don't bother buying a textbook for any of his classes.

Dr. Grant gave the most interesting and entertaining lectures of any class I've had. Whether his personal anecdotes were related to the subject of psych or not, they had me cracking up. His class made me interested in psych and I wish I had the time to minor in it. His class was inspiring and truly a joy to attend.

Make sure you show up for class to take the notes because even though he puts them online throughout class he'll tell you more information and what will be on your tests. As long as you study for tests well you should do well.

Dr. Grant is easily the best professor I've ever had at OU. He's willing to help you in any way that you can as long as you make the effort to approach him. He loves to spark conversation in the class, even when the lecture hall has 200 students. His PowerPoints don't cover everything on the exams word for word, but he mentions the rest in lecture.

The best professor Ive had so far, Dr. grant is the funniest guy youll ever meet. His lectures are so much fun, getting up at 9am to go to his 9:40 child and adolescent class was the best. Highly Recommend him!!! Only grades are 5 tests but theyre very easy!

I was let down by the content of Beh Gen, it was mainly memorization of statistics. We did not delve into much reasoning, he spent a lot of time discussing his own previous research which got annoying. Overall, I really like him and think he is a nice guy, however, the class was boring. Tests are easy if you go to class and he is very fair.

Go to class and you'll get an A. He is amazing at lecturing what is actually on the exam and is very understanding. Grant is the best professor I've had at OU and I am a junior. No homework but the exams are so simple if you pay attention. He is also hilarious and tells alot of personal stories which help get through the lectures. TAKE HIM

Michael Grant is by far the best professor I had my first semester of freshmen year. I wasn't going to post a review for any professor until after I completed their entire course but I already know my opinion isn't going to change. Amazing professor, interesting lectures, funny, not strict. Just listen to lectures and study and you should be good!

Dr. Grant is a great teacher he really tries to make lecture interesting and very obviously cares about his subject. He does say a lot of things that aren't on the slides that WILL be on the test. So as long as you show up and can memorize you'll pass with an A, no problem.

Dr. Grant is definitely the most enjoyable professor I have ever had. He makes lectures fun and interesting while still giving you all of the material for the exam. His class only consists of exams and research credits, but just go to class, take notes, and do your research credits (I recommend ahead of time) and you'll pass with an easy A.

Very passionate about psychology and gave the class a chance to get involved with psychological studies (as a grade, sure, but they were interesting and something new to do on campus). Easy exams. You get points for just showing up, and each lecture he gives you one or two of the questions that will appear on the exam.

Love this class! Due to it being 7 weeks, IT IS A LOT OF WORK, but he tells you that day one. The material is super interesting. He is always quick to respond and grades right away. He tells you what to study, and if you do, the exams aren't to bad. Class isn't a "give me" A.. but if you spend the time and put in the effort it isn't hard!

Took this section online with Grant. He's a super awesome guy and the class was really interesting, but a lot of work! Since the class wasn't in person, there seemed to be more busywork, i.e. a 3 page paper weekly over lots of articles. If I were to take this class again, I would probably do the in-person section. Awesome prof though!

One of the best at OU! Makes early classes entertaining and easy to go to. Allowed 3 skips per semester. Exams are very fair, especially if you go to class. Things that he mentions in class that are not on the PowerPoints are usually on the exams. The only assignment other than the exams is one 3 page paper.

Make sure that you attend the class and listen or else you won't pass. Gives the opportunity for extra credit through research participation-make sure you do this!!! You won't pass if you don't participate in studies!!! He is inspirational and hilarious. All tests are multiple-choice/matching.

Overall Grant is a great professor. The only problem I had with him is he seems to get off topic a lot of the time and it can getting annoying. Also, he seems to get very opinionated at times which I found unnecessary and sometimes insulting. But, he is a reasonable professor, he clearly states what is going to be on exams.

He really loves what he teaches. I took the online course and it wasn't too tough but it wasn't a cake walk either. He is very clear about what is due and when it's due. There's weekly homework: discussion board responses, short quizzes, chapter lessons. The chapter lessons and quizzes pretty much give you what is on the exams.

Made sure to take 3420 w/ Dr. Grant because I had really enjoyed him for 2410. Amount of work is standard for a 3000 level class: weekly discussion boards, chapter lesson assignments, reaction papers & 3 proctored exams. He was an absolute doll with accomodating for CoVid-19, both w/ exams & assignments. Wish I could take more classes w/ him!

Was understanding of the circumstances of COVID. Outlines the course well. Assignments are very important in learning the material, they help prepare you to study for exams. The exams given aren't easy but aren't hard. If you read and look over lesson questions you should be fine. Tells a few jokes here and there. Informative, caring, prof.

Absolutely the sweetest person ever and I never met him. I took this course online and he tried his hardest to make the slideshows VERY informative and interesting. I would recommend this class to everyone. Only one assignment a week and its answering question about the powerpoint he made. Also extra credit

I took Dr. Grant's class virtually but he posts lectures with audios and I always genuinely looked forward to his lectures each week. His tests are not difficult as long as you make sure to listen to the lectures. He is so kind and genuine. Great professor

Professor Grant was an amazing professor through online classes due to COVID. He had asynchronous lectures and they were very easy to understand and take notes. The exams were also very easy and the homework was straight from the lectures. Very nice man and good prof overall.

I absolutely LOVED Dr. Grant's psychology course. He was very enthusiastic and had extensive knowledge of the subjects he was teaching. Dr. Grant is fantastic. Really interesting lectures and was hilarious to listen to. Only downside was all of the points came from 4 exams, so there was not much wiggle room. But it's only a slight downside as the exams are really easy.

One of the best courses I took. Dr. Grant is amazing at teaching his course. He takes the time to explain the subject in ways it is easy to understand and loves to make it more of a conversation with the class. He also understands that this is a required course for most and makes it an easy class as long as you put in the effort to learn.

Dr. Grant makes class very fun and made me eager to learn even though child and adolescent psychology isn't the specialty I want to go into. He made me want to put in the work and made me want to go to his class. He's also very willing to help you when you need it.

I love this man. he's so welcoming and understanding and is really great at lectures and makes you want to listen, even if it's not necessarily a course you are deeply interested in. It also helps that he's funny and will crack a lot of jokes. He also makes the lectures open to a bit of discussion, so you can always chime in with your own input. :)

His lectures keep you interested. He is boring to listen to cause he has a monotone voice but he cracks jokes every once in a while. Although attendance isn't mandatory I recommend going to class cause he will tell you questions he plans to put on the exams. All exams were online and very easy.

Dr. Grant is incredible. As you'll get to know if you take any course with him, he's very passionate about psych, & extremely accomplished in his field. Almost always lets the lecture out 10-20 minutes early. All tests are available on your own time and open for a week. Lecture notes are available online & attendance isn't mandatory!

When I took psychology in highschool I HATED IT, but Dr. Grant has totally changed my perspective. Not only are his lectures super interesting, he always makes me laugh at least 2 times per class. He has so many funny stories. He also is kind and actually does care about his students. His lectures are not mandatory but it is worth it 100% to go.

Dr. Grant is a great professor, he is very laid back. majority of the grades in our class were homework questions but they were easy straight forward and very easy to find in the bool. the exams were also very easy as the questions were very similar to the weekly chapter questions

Although attendance wasn't required, Dr. Grant is a very funny guy and usually never fails to make you laugh during his lectures. All of his exams are on blackboard (including the final) and he gives you a week-long period to do them at home. There is never any homework except little study things. Take good notes and you will be fine in this class.

Dr. Grant is truly one of the smartest, most respectful, awesome teachers I've ever had the complete pleasure of taking. The thing that most stands out about him is the genuine passion he has for the subject he teaches. Please take classes with this cool, cat-loving man. I fell bad for all the other psych teachers for having to keep up with him.

Prof. Grant was such an entertaining professor. I enjoyed going to his lectures, & I felt that he handled communicating a LOT of info in a short amount of time very well. The only bad thing I would say is my class had around 300 students, so I very rarely got replies when I would attempt to reach out to him for help or clarity outside of class.

This was the best professor I've had on this campus so far. He's a sweet guy who genuinely cares about you and wants you to learn in the class. Not a tough grader whatsoever, and he will talk about his personal life throughout lectures. I 100% would take this class again if I had a choice.

I liked having Grant as a professor! He made the info interesting and the class was pretty easy. Going to lectures will help because he gives out free exam answers, but it's not necessary. Exams are online and easy the only part that sucks is that they're 75% of your grade so it's hard to improve if you bomb one.

10/10 professor! All exams are online. You need to do no other assignments besides research studies/forms. They are extremely easy. Some of the studies are online but some are in person that are only a couple hours, but you only need to complete 6 hours. He gives up to 6 extra credit points for completing up to 6 more hours of research studies.

Best professor I have had so far genuinely cares about what he teaches and knows what hes talking about very qualified lectures are optional but there interesting and not at all boring so i would go. Ne ready to hear about his time in Boston he loves to talk about his studies there!

I missed a lot of classes and never fell behind because he posted every lecture on Canvas. All of the exams were online and all answers could be found in the lecture slideshows. Great guy--clearly cares about his students and is passionate about the subject.

Dr Grant has an extremely easy class especially if you like writing like me. He is a little hard to reach outside of class, I emailed him with slow responses but he replied to the phone number he gives faster. Very few assignments so do not mess up on one or your semester is done for. Easy A for sure if you put in the work

Dr. Grant's class was very informative and easy. The only thing that irked me was the lack of communication in the online course. Didn't answer emails and sent the first class announcement during week 14 of the semester... Also, didn't give feedback on the papers if you missed points. Exams were straightforward, though, right from the lectures.

SOOO AMAZING. my favorite professor at ou! he is so caring and understands students have lives and other things to attend to other then homework. so great!

Dr. Grant is one of O.U.'s finest in the Psych department. I love him and will take any future Psych class he teaches. Super kind and funny, he's the one professor I had where I felt comfortable raising my hand in a 100-person lecture to ask a question! attendance is optional but youre missing out if you dont go tbh

I love Dr. Grant! He is an excellent professor; we always got out of the lecture early and then would stay after if you had questions. The class is very easy however, most of your grades came from exams, but all those exams were online.

Very funny professor and makes the material interesting to learn.

He is such an easy professor to work with and access outside of class. his class is very easy if you take notes. all tests online and exactly based off of the material on the slides. also so understanding. have literally searched for another class I can take with him again. AMAZING.
