He loves what he teaches and it Really shows. Great class for discussion and participation.
Great class, great teacher.
probably the most intelligent guy I have ever met... unfortunately he HATES Bradley, which shows during some of his lectures..
the best class I took content-wise. he made philosophy interesting, fascinating, and easy to understand. he was kinda intimidating, but so far it's the best class i've taken at bu yet!

Dr Greene is very nice, there is nothing he wouldnt do to help his students to understand the difficult readings of philosophers. After class he is a great person to talk to about your goals and aspirations and extremely interested in your background. A1!
Very intense man. He is extremely inteligent and by far the most interesting professor I've encountered at BU. You will learn a lot, but he is a tough grader. If I didn't mind getting B's I would take every class I could with him.
By far the most brilliant man I've ever met. He knows what he's talking about and then some.

great teacher to introduce existential issues, and inspiration to grapple with them. however, those who have weak identities should be very careful here, unless you want to work in a coffee shop for the rest of you life.
He is very smart and passionate about what he teaches. However, I feel that his grading style is not always that fair. He treat his Honors class better than the regular class. Just because we're not in Honors doesn't mean we're any less than them.
A crazy teacher who sometimes goes on rampages against stupid people or conservatives. Very entertaining although it sometimes gets in the way of learning anything.
Classes are generally very entertaining even though he somestimes strays from the topic. He's flexible with the grading if you really know the material. Keeping up with the readings is a must to do well on the exams. Overall, the class is enjoyable.
Intensely passionate, intelligent and interesting. You'll love philosophy if you don't already. Humorous in lectures. He's a writer, don't be sloppy in your essays. I'm determined to take all of his courses.
Dr. Greene is the most intelligent teacher that I have had here. This is a class that you actually cannot wait to go to. This is a class that you will learn much more about life then about the material. He makes philosophy so exciting. Highly Recommend!
Best teacher I have ever had! Very intelligent and has very interesting views on life. I love hearing him talk about politics and society. I would love to hear his opinion in detail about the war in Iraq. Highly recommended.
He's on crack, he just rambles on about unrelated subjects. VERY BORING! And a lot of his lectures are anti-religious and he loves yelling about Bush. Graded on only the midterm and final and two pop-quizzes.

Greene scares me. I think he should be on medication or something. That aside, his class was a nice intro to philosophy and was interesting. I just wish he could stop rambling about politics and stuff.
only grades come from 2 tests and 2-3 quizzes. BUT he's very interesting and goes over everything until it's understood. I had him at 10 and never missed it and didn't fall asleep. His "rants" are entertaining.
Good class. Makes it interesting. Tests are easy if you go over the review he hands out. His rants are amusing at best. Only graded on 2 quizes, 2 exams--Easy though.
this isn't the guy to take if you're looking for an easy class, but i learned more from this guy than probably any other professor i've had at college....i'm definitely glad i took his class
This is a great teacher. He has very unique ideas about things. Some may not like his class because because he is very out-spoken, but I really really enjoyed it. He doesn't give a lot of tests so that could be good or bad for some. Awesome teacher!! :)
Really enjoyed his class got alot out of it. He requires you to think alot and outside the box. But really did like him seemed to have a general interest in the students
dudes friggin nuts, it boring but not too hard, do the work and you will be fine
Very easy and Dr. Greene is a very intresting man. It's a really enlightening course. Just make sure you do the homework and you should not have a problem getting and A.
I love this class. I love this man. Greene is by far the sharpest man I have ever encountered. His logic and way of thinking are so fresh and interesting. This class-incredible.I have learned how to live a truly better, genuinely happier life. Very, and rightfully so, anti- Bush and religion. The best
This is not an easy class. The readings in Plato are very interesting but Greene kills them by adding in his own harsh political and religious views. He managed to insult more religions than i can count as well as many professions. Extreme liberal, hard grader and watch out for pop quizzes!
Very interesting class..he really made you think about things. However extremely opinionated about politics and religion so some things he said I found offensive. But overall good class..show up to class and do the reading and you'll do fine.
"Be careful when you look into the abyss, for the abyss also looks into you!" --Nietzsche. Good, frequnt rants. Hungry mind? Feed yourself. Snotty service. Doesn't teach method. A 2nd rate class in the martial art of thinking. Boredom: terminate with extreme prejudice. Great sneering. Reccomended.
this class was cool. he really gets into his lectures and its fun to watch him go at it. he's really opinionated about bush and politics. do the readings b/c he goes over the readings in class in detail. he does give pop quizes so keep up in the class. his grading is a little different.
okay class, grading is very different, unclear about things, stuff on exams is very specific, very opinionated...isn't afraid to criticize anybody (mainly Bush, American society, and Christianity) only 2 people studied are Nietzsche and Plato (Socrates), lectures are long and drawn-out...
Knows a lot and makes class very interesting, definitely very opinionated especially about politics and religion. Make sure you pay attention in class because he sometimes hints for when he’s going to have a pop quiz, and do the reading.
Awesome teacher. Fun and interesting. Gives a lot of work, so you'll need to study for this class since he'll expect a lot from you, but do your work and you'll enjoy what you get out of it. He doesn't like show offs so don't try that with him. My favorite teacher here because you.
Love him! He's extremely animated, so class is very entertaining. He goes over the same concepts over and over until he thinks everyone grasps them. He's very opinionated, but who cares? He truly cares about his students and has a desire to teach. Take him over any other PHL professor.
Best Professor at Bradley, I have taken 6 classes with him and loved every single one of them. Somewhat arrogant, but can back it up. Very opinionated, but well worth taking.
Coolest professor ever. Lectures are always interesting. Funny. Tests are tough. The best professor I have ever had.
Very interesting teacher, and I would reccomend him to some people, but caution: If you are easily offended by religion bashing, conservative bashing, or if you are just a sheep who follows everything your prof. says, do not take. For those of you who can think independantly Greene is a good prof.
Does have kind of a lisp thing going on, but his discussions rock. Love that story about his grandfather's opinion of the mini skirt! And the class is pretty good, if you keep up on the reading and the lectures.
His tests are essay exams, they aren't too bad. If you study for them you'll at least get a B. Take REALLY good notes in class, that is what he tests over.
I love this class and this professor opens up your eyes to things you might not have otherwise saw. It's great!
amazing man and professor. really got me to think about things for myself and question readings and other's opinions. take this class, it was even a ton of fun.
Im sure some people think he is interesting, but this class is very boring for me! I have taken 2 quizes and one test and I dont think I have ever gotten a question fully right because my answers aren't good enough so I get like -1/2 or -3/4... yah its wierd but ne ways I wouldnt reccomend him to anyone. Oh and I tried to ask him for help and he wasnt very helpful at all!!
He led awesome discussions, and he's a really intelligent professor. His tests were somewhat hard, and he gave pop quizes on occasion. If you can keep up with the reading and take notes, you will like him though.
I really enjoy his class. This is the first gen-ed class that i actually didnt want to miss. He is very animated in his lectures sometimes, which helps break up the subject matter. The reading is tough, but he goes through it slow, he wants everyone to do well.
A great teacher and a very interesting class. Dr. Greene's lectures are absorbing and thought-provoking, and he likes to go off on tangents about how corrupt the government is or how fat Americans are. No homework, and tests are easy -- just write what you think. He occasionally gives pop quizzes, though, so go to class and don't fall behind in the
If you're a diehard fan of America and/or the Bush Admin, he'll probably make you really mad. Aside from being hilarious and upbeat, Dr. Greene is extremely knowledgable and passionate about what he teaches. He wants his students to do well and learn a lot, and never makes anybody look or feel stupid, even though he definitely has the knowledge to.
Takes plenty of time going through the tough readings and gives good review sessions before exams. He does act like he knows it all though--this is accurate when it comes to philosophy but not accurate when it comes to history or several other subjects.
Very interesting lectures, lots of random tangents. He's pretty funny but might offend some people. Class isn't too hard, no homework, do the reading and you'll be fine. He is a little bit of a know-it-all, but it's ok because he really is a pretty smart guy.
Really cool. The class was interesting. We had two grades the entire semister, one paper and the final, I wouldn't count on that though.
He has this nasty habit of making comments about your test grade in front of the class, and he's incredibly full of himself. He's not horrible, but he's not great. I had to buy six books for his class and we breezed through them so quickly I could barely learn anything. I would only reccomend him if you are a philosophy major.
Very interesting man with lots of opinions and views. However, his opinions did not seem to dictate what we needed to learn rather how we can apply the material to our lives like he did to come up with our own conclusions. He is pretty easy, fun, and quite funny. Very little homework. Just go to class and pay attention and you should get an A.
If LAS did not require stupid philosophical analysis, I would never take this class. He is the kind of person who has a criticism on everything; how that can be a way to live, I do not know. Quizzes can be tough if you miss a class, but it's an okay class. I'd take the class with someone other than him. He freaks out if you disagree with him.
Good teacher. Covers material well and explains it just as well. Did have an A at mid-term, but I stopped going, and dropped to a C, so if you go and take notes, the A is pretty easy, stop going and you're done for.
This class really isn't that hard, but it comes down to like 4 quiz grades. If you screw one or two up you're done. You have to go to class...he is pretty unorganized and if you argue about your grade you might be able to get some points. He is pretty entertaining...
Dr. Greene is a very interesting character. He does a great job of talking about the material and makes this class both interesting and an easy A. He does have a tendency to go off on tangents and only cover 10 minutes worth of new stuff in a 50 minute class period but that keeps things interesting. I'm considering philosophy minor b/c of class.
Awesome class and amazing teacher! I definitely recommend him. Lectures are iteresting and the quizzes cover exactly what he goes over. Reading the books are important.
Full of himself. Has a huge ego and thinks he knows everything. Most of the good ratings on here are actually written by him. Go ahead and look- you'll find them. Don't take anything with this clown unless you have to.
Took several courses with him during my time at Bradley. He demands a lot from his students. But, if you're going to college for a true education rather than just jumping through hoops, there is no better professor at the school. Not to mention his rants and tangents -- what's not to like about this guy?
The journals he makes you keep are graded pretty hard, but he doesn't really tell you what he's looking in them. The class discussions are boring and in his opinion, your thoughts only matter if you've been published. If you try, you can probably pull off an A
Interesting class! Professor really knows about the subject. Attendance is mandatory and he grades notes, but if you take notes you will do good in the class. Reading material is really interesting and makes you think. He really helps clarify the difficult parts of text. If you come and pay attention, you can get a lot out it.
Enjoyed his class, very much! I found it difficult to concentrate sometimes, but that was more the subject matter. Greene is very funny and often goes on tangents, but I enjoyed the class, nonetheless. Most importantly, it was an INCREDIBLY easy A. Show up, take notes, listen, and there is no reason you shouldn't do well on the exams.
He is a nice professor who know what he is talking about. At the same time, I would not recommend this class as a gen ed class. He goes more in depth than necessary. Also, he does not seem approachable if you have a question. I am a business major, and I do not see how this will ever use this information again.
Hardly any work required for this class. He is really hard to follow because he can't focus on one thought for more than a minute. If you can get past that, class isn't too bad. Smart guy.
He is very enthusiastic about the subject matter. However, if this is your first time taking any kind of philosophy course, I would not recommend him. According to my advisor, he is one of the best professors at Bradley. This may be true but he is very philosophical for a beginner course. I had a very hard time comprehending the material.
Although he rambles a lot and didn't seem to be much help in class, if you pay attention you can pretty much get everything he wants you to put in your papers (our grade was mainly based on two papers). He does have a huge ego though. If you can get past his eccentricities, he's not a bad professor.
He is a very interesting character and teachers with so much passion that it is almost contagious. He is a really funny guy and i really enjoyed this class.
Dr. Greene is SO passionate about philosophy. I enjoyed every second of class. He would get so into the material and make jokes, but there was no room for discussion with him. Any "disagreement" from the students would just result in an old man tantrum, so just sit back and enjoy his (rather entertaining) lectures. Tests are fairly easy too.
Extremely intelligent and well-rounded person. Gives in-depth, animated lectures that get non-philosophy students interested, while building off the knowledge philosophy students already have. Show up to class and listen and you get an easy A; don't show up and you'll have no idea what's going on.
Dr. Greene is a really smart dude, so it makes his tad large ego a little more bearable. His lectures are some of the best. He interacts with students and connects ideas throughout the entirety of the semester. He tends to really like students who can contribute thoughtful commentary to lectures .
Hey, you, incoming freshman who's trying to decide who to take PHL103 with! I am here to tell you, Dr. Greene's class can change your world. He is so passionate and vibrant in his teaching, it is truly inspiring to learn from someone who adores their work. Be prepared to listen and think, and you'll leave the class a sincerely happier person.
I love this man. I literally added a philosophy major because of this course. But be cautious, this it's not an easy A. One of my greatest frustrations with Dr. Greene is that he never sticks to information or formats he says he'll use in exam reviews. One time, we were supposed to have a multiple choice quiz and it turned into short essay.
HE IS SO AWESOME. Things you need to do to get an A are: Pay attention, ATTEND LECTURES, and PLEASE take notes (he ALWAYS repeats certain concepts so those are ALWAYS the ones on the tests/quizzes. This class was a super easy A for me, however take that with a grain of salt because I naturally do well in english-based classes. Overall, fun class :)
Dr. Greene is not just a professor, he's an experience. Lectures consist of a few scripted topics with a lot of improv "Dr. Greenisms." He is on fire for what he does, and it really shows. Class-wise, there aren't a lot opportunities for participation and external thoughts, and assessments can be passed if you remember what he said in class.
I've had Dr. Greene for 3 classes and he's been great in all of them. He really cares about the material and has great lectures. I'd highly recommend him and the Bradley Philosophy department.
THIS MAN! I have joined the philosophy department thanks to him and could not be more inspired by anyone. Not only does he push his students academically, he encourages my personal life/ health. He is so passionate about philosophy and it shows ALL THE TIME, I dont know how he does it. He makes everything so personal to his students lives 1000/10
I was a little nervous about taking my first philosophy class. It's not really a subject of interest for me, and I have always heard bad things about philosophy. However, I was not expecting to have such a good professor. Dr. Greene knows his stuff, and he really takes the time to explain it too. I never once felt lost.
A simple and easy class and easy to follow, the only problem is the content is super boring and every day is a lecture. Never got out early but was worth taking it with him.
Just don't take this professor
Can be grating for some. Very passionate about what he's talking about. Very lecture heavy and has pop quizzes. Be ready to advocate if you have accommodations. He doesn't much care for them. Doesn't put grades into Canvas, so you really only know your overall grade when he puts in grades at midterm and the end of the class. Overall, grew on me.
He is so rude and unhelpful to his students
I had this professor 20 years ago and still remember him asking if we could walk up the stairs without feeling out of breath and he was right to mention it and it actually helped me turn a corner later on. I also bought his book after graduating which he never advertised or even mentioned he had written in class that I remember. He's interesting
