Very knowlegdgeable professor who tries to make the class somewhat interesting. Tests are somewhat difficult if you don't stay on top of the material. One of the better PSCI professors.
his class is huge and doesnt care if you come or not, but when you do, he is smart and witty and makes lectures as interesting as government can be. very lenient when it comes to grades and assignments. he let us choose whether or not we wanted to turn in our workbook assignments. all and all, good professor.
I really like him but his lectures were very boring. No attendance policy which is good but many people took advantage of that and would just walk in whenever. Tests are M/C and True/False. Somewhat difficult but if you study you should do fine.
Very easy if you show up. His slides tell you 85% of what will be on the midterm and final exams. Highly recommended especially if you are not a pol. science major.
Greig is pretty cool. The online chat sessions help, and he posts the slides online. Plus he's pretty good about extra credit and helping out with grades.
Dr. Greig spoiled me. I never, ever had to come to class because everything is posted online. I had to study really hard for the tests, but I managed a B in the class. He is a good lecturer, but the class was just too damn early to show up. I wish he taught 1050
Take this man if at all possible. One of the BEST profs in the poli sci dept. He grades rather hard on the essay exams & paper but he's always available for help and is easy-going on most things. Please take one of his course, even just for fun. You will more than likely love it.
One of those 500 people per class things, 8am, but he-surprisingly-made it interesting! He was a GREAT teacher! The class wasn't half as bad as I thought it would be! Attendance not req, but usually req if you want to pass the tests, homework was optional, notes online...Very interesting guy, high recommendation.
I had him last year and he was very nice and he was a very good teacher
Very funny guy, the tests were pretty easy. I didn't even have to read the textbook most of the time, though it helps. Do the review before the test and study it and you'll do perfect.
Great professor. Really knows what he's talking about but you can skip class and everything you really need to know for the exams is online. Lots of videos.
if you come to class, he usually tells you specifically what questions will be on the test as a reward for coming. he also has reviews online for each exam which gives you every answer to to the review. gives extra credit. i highly recommend him!
You get out of bed for an 8am PSCI class to either 1) Watch an online PBS documentary, or 2) Have PowerPoint slides read to you that are already available on the class web site. Tests are scantrons, easily prepared for with an online review chat room (or its transcript) the night before. Easy, but pointless, class.
Great guy. He really cares about you learning the material, and doesn't ever hesitate to help you. His sense of humor is pretty great too.
Concise, easy class. Kept the discussion interesting. Maybe boring to non-psci majors, but he tries to make it applicable. If you apply yourself, you will do fine.
Crystal clear in both lectures and his expectations. Do your exam reviews and the tests are a breeze. He is not out to trick anyone. 3 exams, one editorial assignment (not long), no cumulative final.
Great Professor. I had a 100+ Average here are some helpful tips: Go to every class, do all the readings, and answer every question on the review. follow the guidelines on the editorial exactly and there is no way you will not make an a. he totally sets you up for success and is very fair.
Attendance is optional and he allows you to miss an exam during the semester OR skip the final(which is comprehensive). He thoroughly enjoys the topic he's teaching and it shows. Will be taking another course with him in Fall 2012!
Great teacher. Do not have to attend class. Cares about the subject and always available for help.Highly recommend him!
I felt this class was very hard. Greig is fair, but the test are very in depth. Not reading will cost you at least two letter grades. In-Class participation/Papers are give me grades if you actually do them. The optional comprehensive final really boost your grade if you messed up on a test.
Way too hard and severe.
I thought his class was extremely difficult. This was not one of my favorite classes and I love PSCI
Super easy class, very little effort required. Just study well for the tests and you can easily get a B.
Avoid taking him. He is an awful lecturer. He just plants himself in the middle of the class and talks for the whole class without presenting the information in an interesting or thoughtful way. seldom every opens the subject matter to discussion. My least favorite professor at UNT so far.
Fantastic instructor! Very clear and concise when lecturing. Kept my interest throughout. Exams and quizzes only, not inundated with busywork. Had powerpoints presentations, but never felt like Death By Powerpoint. Very satisfied overall.
Took this in the Lyceum. Attendance is not mandatory, but it's a good idea to go to class. He gives 3 tests, and had 5 quizzes. He doesn't present the information in an interesting way. If you study, you should do good.
TAKE THIS CLASS! Attendence is not mandatory, you can definitely pass without going to class.however he does post quizzes randomly on black board, but the notes from the lecture are online and he will post answers to exams the day before. Just study hard for exams and an A is possible!
Interesting Class. He is very straight forward and willing to help.Dont buy the books, go to class take notes and complete the whole review. Theres only four chances to get a good grade you better be paying attention and giving it your ALL every time if not youll be stuck with an 89 like me and he wont help you
Such an interesting professor, and as long as you pay attention in class the exams are easy!!
Amazing professor took him twice and I learned SO MUCH! hes awesome you should take him if you want to learn!
His online class is awesome. Get some friends and work on the exams and assignments together. Lenient grader. Quick to help when you need it. I wish I could hug this guy.
I don't want to be that person that's like "Take him. It's an easy A". But that's legit what it is. He gives exam reviews and all of his test were online. Got a 98 in the class.
Great professor! You can tell he genuinely enjoys the class! He also never gives you any surprises. You will know exactly what to expect for every test.
This class is not that difficult but is good you go to class and pay attention, he is very helpful. I really enjoyed taking this class even though it was not my interest and i had to take it for credit, but he is an amazing professor! Highly recommended
Overall the class was difficult. Attendance isn't mandatory; you don't need to be in class to pass. Just do the readings and turn innthe assignments on time.
Go to class but not mandatory. DO ALL THE READINGS! Do the papers!
Easy class, lectured about ISIS for foreign policy which was interesting. All work is online including tests, power points posted online, attendance isn't mandatory. Great professor, passionate about political science
Easiest class I have ever taken... Didn't go to class once and got a 96 in the class. Everything is organized on his blackboard. Test are all online, and the workbook is a chunk of your grade which is super easy points. He gives extra credit opportunities, which are so easy. For example, fill out a survey that only had 1 or 2 questions. Loved it!
great professor! i thought it was an interesting class and he tries to make it as least boring as possible. All tests are online, they're kind of difficult but not too hard. only tests and work book assignments that are super easy. he also lets you pick the last think you talk about in class
First day of class he told us attendance was not mandatory, that he would record and post all of the lectures online and that the tests were all also online.
This class was extremely difficult. You have to study and should try to memorize everything that is taught. Exams and assignments are difficult and really make you think. This professor is tough, but he's nice and responds to emails quickly and is willing to help the best he can.
Super nice and willing to help. It 's not an easy class at all but he wants everyone to get an a. He will beg you to ask him questions and he answers them really well.
He's a caring and intelligent professor. It's an easy class, and I enjoyed going to lecture.
This was an online class in 5wk1 so I don't get the full affect that a classroom gives. But he was helpful. answers all questions is detail and wants to see his student succeed. He gives you al the information to pass, but you must study. Don't think you can wing it. Do the work and you'll pass. I made a B with 2-3 hours a week studying.
Greig is a great, caring teacher who wants his students to succeed in his class. Easy class.
His class is really easy, attendance is optional. He posts slides and test reviews online so just make sure to study them before a test. I wouldn't bother buying the textbook. I didn't buy it and got an easy A.
Great professor! Literally has an answer to every question and always makes sure you feel comfortable to ask him. Attendance isn't mandatory but I recommend showing up, he really cares about his students and genuinely wants to help you learn. Gives reviews for exams and slides posted on blackboard too, very easy to contact as well
He's an awesome professor. He really makes an effort to make sure that everyone has the chance to pass the class. He's really funny, cool, and understanding.
Very good lecturer. He is understanding and really does his best to help students before exams. This guy knows what he's talking about. Highly recommend.
I took this online class during the summer. There is quite a bit of reading and lots of video lectures, but the topics are interesting and there are plenty of extra credit opportunities. It isn't a really hard class, but it isn't an easy A either.
The professor made the class more interesting by adding videos and relation to the world. His test were pretty straight forward with the study guide. You do need to study and going to the class helpful even if I fell asleep.
Attendance not mandatory. Lecture every class but he makes them interesting. He only has 4 assignments, 3 exams (final optional) and an online workbook (so easy). Good class. I never went and finished with an A. Do not buy the actual textbook, no need for it.
I would not recommend taking this class with anyone besides Greig. His lectures are very informative, but you can miss a couple of classes without worry. He gives a ton of extra credit on tests. You also don't have to take the final if you took the other three tests.
The semester I took him he only gave satisfactory and unsatisfactory grades, so getting a 70 on an assignment was essentially the same as getting a 100. Attending class isn't necessary, if you read the textbook you'll pass the tests.
Amazing Professor. 100% skills in teaching Political Science. Easy to achieve an A+ in this class. Attendence is not mandatory because most of the grading is based on 3 exams and assignments that is submitted before the due dates. He does lot of extra credits for all the exams. I would recommend everyone to choose this professor if taking PSCI.
I absolutely loved taking Professor Greig. He is very unbiased in his teaching which helps you garner a true understanding of American politics. His satisfactory grading style makes it ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE to not get an A. I didnt put too much into this class. If you show up to every class, read, and take notes youll do great on the tests.
Dr. Greig provides very clear grading criteria with 2 course tokens if you need more time on select assignments, so it is easy to make an A+ in his class if you do the work. He cares about his students and makes class engaging. Exams are straightforward and easy if you study the review. I highly recommend him and would take his class again!
Really easy going professor, wouldn't take anyone else for PSCI 2305. The grading rubric is a bit confusing at first, but he'll answer any questions you might have. The course requires you to purchase a program, and that includes the homework and the textbook. As long as you meet all of the requirements you make an easy A.
The most amazing professor I have ever had; hands down. He makes this class impossible to fail and is extremely caring about his students. It was also fun taking this class during the impeachment hearings haha. This is a rating for PSCI 2305
He is an awesome guy! His lectures were up to date and i for national and useful to todays politics and stuff. Just do your assignments and online textbook assignments. But you dont need the hard copy. You have 4 tests, do good on 3 and you dont have to do the final. His grading criteria is great too! One of the best classes ive taken.
Do everything the best you can and will end with the grade wanted. He goes by satisfactory/unsatisfactory which I really appreciated. 4 required papers but they weren't hard especially because you got to choose specifically what to talk about.
Some profs don't know what their doing online, but Greig had it down. Really easy to work ahead but overwhelming if you get behind. There are four papers, four exams (don't have to do the final if you pass the first three), and 14 quizzes and discussion boards. I watched all the lecture and read most of the book and learned so much!
He is what all professors should be like. Caring, student-oriented, well versed in diplomacy, keeps the lectures relevant to contemporary issues like covid, and the quizzes are very easy. Objectively the best professor I have ever had. I can't compliment him enough.
Dr. Greig is the best professor I have ever had. He is so nice and understanding. Tries his best to accommodate students and truly cares about them and not just lecturing for the sake of hearing his own voice. He's the kind of teacher you want to listen to. I would absolutely recommend him.
Professor Greig is truly a 10/10. He is a phenomenal teacher (and great writer), extremely organized, responsive, and accommodating, and is just really talented at teaching through discussions that are relevant and interesting. So so knowledgeable about his discipline and really cares about his students, highly enjoyed and appreciated this course.
Professor Greig has to be one of the best and easiest at UNT. As long as you do the work you'll get an easy A. Assignments take no more than an hour to complete, and assignments are very very easy.
Professor Greig is definitely a top 10 educator, he really likes for his students to learn and that's what the focus of his class is, all exams are relatively easy, and writing assignments are very easy too! Loved his class and would take again!
Professor Greig's class isn't based on what grade you make on assignments. You choose your grade in the class. He gives a list of criteria for each letter grade and it's up to you to decide what amount of work is work it. For example, I wanted an A, I completed all the criteria for an A, but my friend wanted a B,they completed what was necessary
Professor Greig gives very clear grading criteria and the class was super easy. The tests are open note and done outside of class which made it really easy. Would take again!
He's a great guy. Lectures aren't mandatory, assignments are simple, tests are open note. Easy A.
Professor Greig is a great teacher to have. He could explain evil to the devil. He is able to break down complicated parts of our government into easy ways of thinking. Truly a gem.
Dr Greigs class was one of my favorite by far. All work is based off of a satisfactory completion standard so getting a 70 is the same as a 100 and he spells out what you need to do exactly to get an A in the class. He also cares deeply about what he teaches and is always willing to answer any questions to make sure you understand
The teacher makes this class become easier. I love this teacher, doesn't require long essays
He is very understanding and you will learn a lot without the stress.
This class was almost impossible not to pass. You were not required to attend lectures, and he was very understanding. The work was not hard, and the textbook was easy to read. I don't have any bad things to say and would retake this class!
Such a great professor. Always stops every 25-30 mins to make sure everyone is understanding what he is teaching. If anyone has any questions he'll answer them. Love the satisfactory/unsatisfactory grading approach - makes it extremely easy to pass his class. As long as you get a satisfactory grade on all assignments , you have an A+ right there.
Dr.Greig is very understanding. He provided recorded lectures and didn't make attendance mandatory. All exams are open note and taken outside of class. Overall would take his class again.
This Professor is super easy going and lectures aren't hard to understand and I actually learned a lot. Also not hard work at all and grades are super easy. Super hard to fail this class
This class was pretty straight forward. Most of the work is textbook questions but there are a few other assignments in the class. He does most of his exam questions around the book and the slides but there are a few in class discussions that he specifically references in his exams. Overall very clear expectations and lots of time to do the work.
Will not help boost your grade at all.
TAKE THIS CLASS!! Attendance was not at all mandatory and as long as you follow directions, you are guaranteed an A. I cannot stress enough how great this professor and class is.
This class was very easy, I think I showed up to class 3 times and finished with a 100. Just keep up with deadlines and you'll be good.
Good professor
One of my favorite classes. The professor is more focused on actually learning the information and less on worrying about grades and I really appreciate that, it made it easier to take everything in. He has a very different was of grading, but I think that is what makes everything less stressful. I would certainly take him again and recommend him.
Dr. Greig was an amazing professor, his lectures were very intriguing and was always open for interpretation. His assignments and tests are super easy, straightforward, and very well organized. I encourage everyone to take him!!!
Even if attendance isn't required, I'd highly recommend going to class - his lectures are amazing. Professor Greig doesn't use a traditional grading system, but he makes it very clear how it works from the beginning. I found his lectures very engaging and he gave a lot of good comparisons and examples. Highly recommend taking him!
Dr. Greig makes this class super easy and interesting. There is no way you do not pass he will always work with you.
I enjoyed his class for my capstone and as my last class ever in undergrad. He was very lenient as long as you communicated with him, and he had clear grading criteria. As long as you follow the rubric for the two essays he has you do, and study his review he gives out you will be completely fine!
Professor Greig was good. I didnt attend class and did just fine. He relied on the textbook chapter assignments heavily. Grading was a little different but made the class more manageable.
This class is super easy. I barely attended class and still passed. Grades are based on satisfactory scores. Exams are open book and open note, including the final. Class uses Wiley for the textbook and homework, so you can't avoid buying the textbook. Dr. Greig and the TAs are very nice and helpful if you need it.
He's alright but he could have informed us that we could change our answers during the online assignments, I got a lot of questions wrong and ended up getting a C in the course because of it for no reason. I didn't go to many lectures as attendance wasn't necessary and this was just a required class for everyone.
Great professor!
Interesting class, weird grading system. Very confusing. Instead of grading things where you earn a grade for the work you put into it, you get graded on "satisfaction." So in essence, you only have to put in minimal work in order to pass the class. There is no challenge. The professor is very understanding and will go out of his way to help you.
Great professor with a clear grading rubric. There is an online textbook you will need to purchase and there is quizzes to complete in each module and writing in the pack back.
Professor Greig makes this class super easy. The lectures are engaging, and the assignments/tests are straightforward. Attendance is mandatory, but the textbook isn't strictly needed. unstuck study was a great study tool alongside the free class resources.
Awesome!! easy online class and work is manageable. Professor is super understanding and kind which was refreshing. Recommend!
His class was amazing, the course structure is great and very easy to do. He understands that the people taking his class are taking it because they have to. And so he has tons of grace and makes sure if stuff goes wrong on assignments he extends them. Would absolutely take more classes if he is in charge.
This class is not that difficult. Professor Greig gives you many opportunities to succeed with the token system, which allows you to get an extension on work or remove late penalties. Textbook work is graded, so make sure you do the workbook each week. Packback isn't difficult either, just takes some time to complete.
