Great professor! New to Macro so still learning a little himself but he is one of the best professors I've had. Wants you to learn and his lectures make it easy to do so. BUT YOU MUST SHOW UP. He posts absolutely no notes of any kind online. If you attend all lectures and study the class notes, you don't need the book - you will do fine on tests.

He's a little less familiar with the subject than I would have hoped, but he was still a great professor. You must go to classes or else expect to not pass. He's funny and helpful. I would absolutely take another class from him.

Hammock is one of the most underrated Economics professors at FSU. He keeps his lectures interesting and teaches you the content as theories to allow you to decide for yourself, rather than imposing his beliefs on you like other professors. Attendance is not mandatory but I would be lost not going to class. Do yourself a favor and take his class.

Easily one of the best professors at FSU. He is kind, patient and versatile. Received in A and i honestly barely showed up to class. He is pretty good at giving you a fair study guide before the exams and homework is practically an 100 guaranteed.

Fairly easy class. Usually gives 4 extra credit questions on tests, so it's not hard to get above a 100 on tests. Gives homework before each class but allows multiple attempts. He also posts lecture notes & voice recordings online after each class. Only downside is that he does not allow ANY unexcused absences. He wants his students to succeed!

Somewhat boring but he gets you to understand the material. Posts videos and recording of each class which helps. He really take attendance seriously and for every unexcused absence he takes off 3% of your final grade. Tests aren't bad if you study, and there is homework but you get multiple chances.

Hammock is freaking awesome. He provides a study guide for both the midterms and the finals. If you know everything on the guide, you'll get an A. He's also a fun lecturer. Definitely take him for intermediate macro if you get the chance.

Great professor that wants you to do well. Homework is easy and constitutes around 20% of your grade. Three tests of 30 questions, 5 being extra credit. Study the home works and you will ace them.

Hammock is an excellent professor who explains the material very clearly and readily answers questions when asked. Math is very important for developing an understanding of this course. I had very basic understanding of the mathematics even after memorizing the equations. Understanding when and how to implement the equations helps for Exam 1.

Hammock was an amazing professor, he gives great examples of topics that help you to remember what he just taught you. You don't need the book as long as you go to class and take good notes. Hammock was an awesome teacher, he tried to keep the class interesting and is the type of teacher to give real-world examples on what he's talking about. I bought the textbook and didn't open it once. All you need to do is take really good notes (even write down his examples) and study hard and you can easily receive an A! Overall great teacher.

TAKE HIM. I promise you will not regret. My macro tests were all 120%/100% so in theory you can score higher than 100 on his tests. Take tests in testing center. You will need an Iclicker2 to answer 3-5 questions each day -extremely easy: he tells you the answer before you have to submit. If you score 70% on the questions, you get full 100 credit.

Such a solid professor. He gives real-life examples that help you understand the content. He gives lots of easy online homework assignments and gives points for iclickers so it is easy to get an A. The exams are somewhat tough but if you listen in class and do the short homework assignments you should be fine.

Great guy, very engaging and makes sure everyone is on track which is tough with 500 students in a class, took Macro from him and now taking Micro from him next semester, i would highly recommend him. Macro was the only class I had this semester where I liked being there. Him and the subject are worth the time and money to take. He is fair and unbiased.

He posts every lecture online and class notes AND even student-taken notes, only have to show up for iclicker points which counts as your participation. I've missed the class probably 8-10 times this semester and still got 100% in participation tho cause he gives you a cushion.

Hammock is easily the best college professor I have ever had. Professor Hammock got class to be really interesting throughout the semester. He allowed flexibility within reason by saying if you got at least 70% percent of clicker questions right you would still get an A. On the exam's he gave you the opportunity to answer extra credit questions and maybe two other chance too. He will always respond!!

Professor Hammock's class gives you room for error. He gives homework assignments that allows you multiple attempts. Participation is not mandatory but he does clicker points that do count for credit so it is important to attend class. Over all, Hammock was a really good teacher for Macro and I'm taking Micro with him in the Spring.

Michael Hammock is one of the best professors at FSU! He is clearly a master in economics and always makes going to class worth it. He makes sure that everyone understands before moving on and uses iClicker to make sure people understand. The tests can be tricky if you don't go to class.

The two tests are both taken online at home. He also curves those tests 20 points. Show up and get 70% of the iclicker questions and thats a free 10%. Homework takes 2 seconds and have multiple submissions. Overall easy class.

Really a great guy. He has extended deadlines for me, even when it was my fault and I missed the assignment. He even updates the class with emails after a lecture. He's also a nice person to talk to with flexible office hours.

Hammock was engaging even though the topic of economics is boring. His teaching style forces you to pay attention, and he does several clicker questions throughout the class. As long as you complete the homework and give a mild effort at studying for the final, you'll get an A. The other two tests are taken online, open book/note.

Textbook is optional, but not needed at all, tests are based off of his notes. 2 tests on your own computer and cumulative final exam that can replace your lower score. If you can learn based on posted notes from lecture than attendance isnt necessary but if not lectures are really helpful

You can tell through Dr. Hammock's lectures that he is very knowledgeable and passionate about economics. He teaches clearly and loves when students ask questions during the lectures. Two exams and the final on top of about 12 quizzes. He provides many resources on Canvas to understand/catch up incase you missed class or are confused and gives EC.

He's very funny and engaging in the lectures. If you attempt to focus, you'll realize the things he's talking about are actually interesting. As it is, the tests were pretty hard and the final was impossible. I had no idea what to even study because half of it is very graph-heavy and the other half is vocab and situational.

When I first took his class back in Spring 2018, I'm pretty sure he had a 5.0 rating, and honestly he deserves that back. He is demanding BUT worth it as a teacher. He cares, he give SO many chances to fix your grade if you mess up, and he's easy to understand. All you have to do is actually go to class which isn't too much to ask tbh.

Mike is a cool professor. Grades are based on online quizzes, and these ConnectMaster assignments, participation, and exams. He tells you everything you need to know in class and tests are online. If you pay attention you should pass. He also records class sessions. He also has a good sense of humor.

Professor Hammock cares about his students. Participation with Squarecap is worth 30% of your grade. Exams 1 & 2 are online, open note and pretty easy. Final is in class and little more challenging, but not too hard. He will call you out if you are talking in class, doesn't like when students take notes with laptop. Overall, great teacher.

Two Exams are online, third exam is in person (final). He does squarecap but as long as you have a sc average of 70% it's like having a 100. Online HW's and assignments are easy but don't forget to do them. Overall, just show up to class, use chegg on assignments and get skoolers for the final and you'll be fine.

The best economics teacher ever. In high school, i did econ regular and got a b every semester. I did macro and micro with him and got an A! He's an amazing teacher and very witty. I will miss his commentaries. There's a fair amount of work and very manageable. You wont regret taking him!

The 6-week Economics of Law class is a condensed version of the regular semester version, but even with less time to work through the material professor Hammock did a great job of covering the content. The expected reading for the class is A LOT & you will be questioned on the reading each day for attendance but it is worth it to learn the material

I took him for Macro and Micro and it was actually fun to go to class. He is light hearted and is a really good professor. I absolutely loved his class and am sad I wont have him again. Makes sure you dont have questions and are satisfied and always answers emails

Professor Hammock makes this class full of graphs and loads of information actually somewhat interesting. GREAT professor! His lectures are very interesting and he often connects them with pop culture or current events. His exams aren't too tough and he gives participation points for answering online questions in class, but you only need 70% of the points to get full participation credit.

I got a B- and passed literally all the homework assignments and online exams by pulling up Quizlets while taking them. You can cheat your way throuhg this class like that, but keep in mind that the Final Exam is cumalative and is the only exam taken in class. So prepare well for that! I bought a Skoolers packet so that helped.

Prof Hammock really cares about what he teaches. I think he explains things very well, but if you need them explained differently he will definitely make that effort. Hes easy to reach and willing to help. His homework and notes prepare you well for his tests. I took him twice, and in Spring 2020, he handled the online switch very well.

Prof. Hammock is a great guy. His course is interesting and he likes to tie in real-world examples to apply the concepts and help students understand them. You are allowed to miss about 50% of class lectures, but they are honestly pretty interesting and you will want to attend them. He is very respectful with students' time and fair with grading.

Mike is really great. He is very enjoyable to listen and knows what he's talking about always using relevant examples. There wasn't too much to do and every assignment was very much self explanatory. With in class questions you do need to come in order to complete them but are not a big part and there is still room to succeed if you need to miss.

His lectures are hard to listen to cause he gets distracted by random student questions easily but as long as you put in time to do the work you'll get a good grade. His assignments aren't unbearable but definitely pay attention to deadlines.

If you go to class and do all the assignments, this class is a very easy A. There are some participation points but only half is needed for full credit. This is my second semester with him and have enjoyed his class both times.

I had professor Hammock for both Micro and Macro and he is a great professor and person. He cares about his students and works hard so everyone can learn. Professor Hammock's class is quite entertaining. Not too bad because the assignments are all on quizlet the only "difficult" thing about the class are the tests which aren't absolutely awful The best part about hammock is that his hat game is like no other, sometimes I'd just go to class to see his hat of the day.

Almost everything in his class, including exams, are multiple choice, so you just need a passing knowledge of the topics to do well. There is an assigned textbook but it's not used. Attendance is important as the course is lecture based, but also because it's part of your overall grade. He's a funny guy and makes the lectures enjoyable.

So basically, you have to go to 60% of classes. I went to 60 on the dot just to get participation points but did not take any notes...I got a 70 on the first exam, failed the second (he drops one exam and makes the second the day after Halloween :/) and got an 85 on the final after studying for 16+ hours. It is doable but def not enjoyable. Easy B.

The class is not too hard, but you do have to put in some effort for a good grade. His regular attendance policy is like 70/30, but it was 60/40 when I took it because of covid. I do think Hammock comes across as too opinionated, but overall he is a nice guy who teaches well and is overall respectful.

I took Mike Hammock's class for both macro and microeconomics, and really enjoyed his class both times! You can tell that he has a lot of knowledge on the subjects and is always making sure that the students understand the material.

Super solid teacher. You can tell by the way he teaches that he has great passion for economics. Even though I took notes every class I didn't learn a lot because you can cheese the McGraw connect assignments and see the correct answers. 2 exams (lowest dropped), weekly HW, daily Tophat questions, and one final. Take him for Micro AND Macro

One of the better ECON profs at FSU. Would recommend. They are all going to be hard however at least there are practice problems and practice exams given unlike most of the other professors. this class was done is a massive 500 seat classroom yet lectures were meticulously crafted for content and humor (economic jokes). the lectures are so effective and cover all the knowledge for the couple tests that reading the book is not necessary. Attendance is done every class day through tophat and answering questions throughout the class

Hammock's class is lecture heavy. Yes there are notes online and his videos are useful, but going to class is always the best way to get info. Tests are worth a lot but there's study resources so you'll be fine. I loved listening to his lectures cause they were funny and engaging. This class isn't an easy A though.

HAMMOCK IS THE GOAT! Real talk, he's a genuinely funny guy who cares greatly about his students. His lectures are awesome and you should go because they are not bad what so ever. The only bad thing is that he uses Tophat for attendance and in-class questions, so if you miss a lot of class you're screwed. He is also very good at explaining things.

He can give homework either twice a week or 8 times a week (not joking). Depending on if you take notes for hw, each assignment can either take between 30 mins to three hours. You only need to attend 60% of all classes. Exams are decent if you do your hw. Classes can be kind of useless if you already did the hw though. But easy A if you do hw.

It covers the whole semester and has questions specifically designed to trick you if you don't know the material exceptionally well. I took Microeconomics online with him and it wasn't very hard. A pretty good amount of homework was required. There's lots of homework but it's structured in a way so that you can understand the material decently well. Worked for me despite being a lot of work. He's a good teacher too.

The 2nd midterm and the final exam are way harder than the first one. Here're my solutions: rewatch his lecture videos and notes and rewrite them all; practice the Top Hat questions and canvas homework; go to ACE tutoring. He's so willing to help (if you ask ofc) and always answers email frequently. It's my pleasure to have him as my professor.

He is very educated and engaging. If you put in the effort, this class is not that hard.

Go to the lectures, pay attention, and don't forget to do the many homework assignments. Hammock teaches very well and you can get a high grade if you pull yourself along.
