Knows what he is talking about but sometimes hard to follow.
very smart and knows economics like the back of his hand! can learn a lot !
Found class very easy--grades on a curve!
took both classes over summer school-got a/b-not too shabby-good tchr/lrnd a lot
Class is easy if you can keep up w/lecture and book reading
Great instructor! Very easy to pass the class. He grades on a curve and tests off of his lectures, so you don't even have to buy the book as long as you come to class and take good notes.
He know so much and makes econ enjoyable!
Love his dry sense of humor, excellent teacher
his teaching method just wasn't my style of learning. he talks fast and scribbles on the board. smith is way better for econ.
Had Smith for Macro, but liked Harvath's grading curve. Didn't read the book, but got an "A." Used lecture notes to study. He leans toward the liberal side, but I enjoyed his class anyway cuz he can be pretty funny. He's helpful, too.
Intelligent and humerous. He is more clear and drones on less than other BC econ profs. He explains things clearly and his classes are pretty straight forward.
No need to buy the book. Just study off of the lecture notes. His voice is semi- boring but the class is passable and you do learn a thing or two. Pretty interesting
Very little interaction with students, talks to fast.
Talks too fast and is very, very, very boring! I personally hated this class. Smith is so much better!
No homework. There are 6 quizes, 2 mid term and final (cumulative).very easy. Just do study guide and you will be ok!
Hilarious guy. His explanations are interesting, even if they do make me a little hungry- he likes to use food examples. I recommend this guy strongly. 6 quizzes, 2 midterms, one final- he curves, drops one quiz, and substitutes the assignment average for a quiz grade.
Took Econ 1 from him last semester (see last post). Still as funny as ever (though he is a bit repetitive). This class is a bit more difficult than Econ 1, so you should take Econ 1 first.
Funny guy, goes too fast sometimes, but is still a purty good teacher
I never had to open the text book at all. you can get away with doing no homework, unless you want to replace a quiz score. if you go to class and pay attention, you never have to study at home, EVER!
class is really not hard, just a lot to "stomach," pardon the pun. make sure not to sit up front or you might get spit upon by his flapping mandibles. other than that, he is a great guy, i liked his class, and he can make you laugh, only if because he is somewhat laughable himself. grades on a curve, just make sure to do good on tests.
Okay so as an 8 am summer school class...pretty damn boring, but i can't complain. he's extremly easy. just do well on the tests and quizzes, and don't buy the text book. you won't need it. other than that, guaranteed A.
Doesn't show any intrest on students. His lectures seem never ending and boring. I never used the book or study guide it was a waste of $.
this guy does crack or something. however, it was a fairly easy class.
this class is ok... but i'm not into the subject at all. he does pretty well at explaining text that is completely foreign to me though.

His class was pretty easy. Just do good on the homework and the tests will be easy.
He seemed like a genuinely nice guy and also had a good sense of humor. However, I was in no way interested in the class and had trouble concentrating during his lectures. I put in a maximum of probably 8 hours of study time into the entire class and pulled out the B I was looking for.
Harvath is the man, I had him for Micro/Macro and enjoyed the class. I don't see how the class is hard, just pay attention and take notes occasionally. Harvath FTW!
Easy...just pay attention & take notes. Kind of a weird sense of humor though. In his lectures he can get on tangents, which can make the class drag on.
Good teacher, made classes fun with little stories. Not a lot of homework and he never takes attendance. Most of questions come from lectures, so take a lot of notes.
Awesome professor!!! Pretty entertaining and interesting! No busy work, little homework. Just pay attention in class, everything for the test is told to you in advance. Had him for both macro/micro and got A's in both. Great!
Great class! You definitely do not need the book, but he tells you that on the first day of class. If you attend class and listen to his lectures then there is no reason you should not get an A. The lectures seem to drag on, but it helps to listen if you want to get a good grade.
Overall is a great teacher with a silly sense of humor. Grade is based only on tests, no papers. If you attend class, there are 2 or 3 x-credit questions for a point or two between every test. Test are what he says will be on the test and if you attend theres no reason you can't do well. Whats in class is on the test. Lectures are to the point.
he is so easy even though you dont have to attend class his lectures are very useful. you dont even need a book for his class only if you missed a day but he does a quick review. super easy
Pretty easy class. All tests come straight from the lectures, and you really never need the book. (I never even bought it.) Exchange numbers with someone, so when you miss class you can get the notes, and you're all set. No homework! Just 5 quizzes, plus some EC. Easy, nice and I still learned. Taking Econ B2 next semester w/ him too.
Harvath is super straight forward, 5 test, 40 pointers. Grades with 87.5% and up is an A and so on. There is E.C. each unit just by going to class and participating on a assignment. But no HW or busy work. Pretty funny guy & makes learning real easy. Lectures straight to the test and gives a study guide. No research paper.
All, I have to say Super easy class. I never studied except 10minuts ahead of every test and I got an A in class. Try to attend and pay a bit attention very easy. No paper, no homework, reasonable teacher.
cool teacher. If u want an A just study your notes. The test questions are straight off of the notes.
great teacher, use ur notes, and ur good. tests are easy. no hmwrk...loved it
He is enthusiastic about the subject and speaks loud enough to keep everyone awake. Gives extra credit and provides good review sheets. Take notes and study fairly good and you'll get an A.
Harvath is great, very knowledgeable. Honestly, I hear people complain about him going to fast, but I never see them actually paying attention. This is a college class (duh)! If you take notes and pay attention you should be fine. The class is as straight forward as you will find. And actually the material is pretty informative and useful!
Dr. Harvath is very clear on what he wants you to know for the exams, he hands out detailed study guides before each one. There are 5 exams plus about 10 extra credit assignments. Listen in lecture, take notes, and you should do fine on the exams. Textbook is optional.
Tough class and material to grasp. Moves quickly and doesn't teach with very much personality. Just goes over the material almost robot like. Good class just wish it had more excitement. Tests could use a little work too.
If you can pay attention, study, take good notes, and have a basic grasp of basic algebra, you should be fine in this class. If you sleep through class, fail to study or couldn't graph to save your life, you will probably not do well with Harvath. Grades are 100% test-based with some extra credit assignments. Study hard and you will do well.
This class was insanely easy, almost a joke! Everything covered on the exams came directly from the notes so there is no need to buy the book. If you understand the graphs and memorize everything else you should get an A on every exam. If you can?t handle this class you probably should aim for CSUB or UC Merced.
just took this class micro econ & all i have to say it was easy. He does not give homework form the book but if you want to get a good grade in the class make some time to read the chapters prior to the test & readthe study guide and an A is for sure. try not to miss class at all becsue all the extra credits add up so good luck to all u

Dr. Harvath is a good professor. He is a bit eccentric but that is what makes the class (he always has a funny t-shirt). There is no homework, just extra credit assignments (for a possible total of 10 extra points) and tests. Just show up to take notes and pay attention and you should do just fine.
I took both introductory Economics courses with professor Harvath. He explains the material very well, and is clear on what he expects from his students. Pay attention, take good notes, and you will do just fine.
yes all u do is take notes and take tests. he gives u a study guide where he says that that is all u need to know for the test. but often times some of the things on there are not even on the test but some other things not on there are. when you email him he doesnt respond til like a week later. so thats not very helpful. other than that hes good.
I took Dr. Harvath's macro class. He's sarcastic with his humor. I'm grateful for that. He is a helpful and thorogh teacher. If I could change one thing about his struction, I would like him to speak a little slower. Never skip an exam, the makeups are much harder and not multiple choice available. Last tip, study your graphs!
I took Microeconomics this summer with Harvath. He warned the class that this semester would be very difficult, but it wasn't. If you are able to concentrate in class and take good notes, you do NOT need the book. He does not move on from topic to topic quickly. He is constantly reviewing. It's hard not to do well.
Took both classes in the summer. Fairly easy. I was almost never lost because he explains the concepts frequently. Received more than 100% in both classes by simply taking notes, paying attention, and not reading the book. I am interested in the subject so it may have come naturally but I suggest to everyone to write down everything he writes.
I love his sense of humor. He was also very good at explaining econ concepts- gave many examples.
Harvath is an extremely boring teacher but it is worth the A!! All you have to do is come to class and the tests pass themselves. I never studied. He likes to repeat himself so you'll never miss anything. I bought the book but it wasn't necessary. Everything he was testing us on was on a study guide so tests were super easy. Highly recommended!
Mr.Harvath goes through each concept thoroughly. In addition to his thorough lectures, his in-class extra credit assignments ensures students "grok" the material by working hands on with it. If one should feel the class is too easy, then forgetting to bring a scantron or missing a test will increase "evil thoughts," and increase difficulty.
I enjoyed taking him for both Micro and Macro economics. You don't need the book if you attend all the classes. He is very easy and helpful. Got an A in both classes and I only studied 5 min before each test!
Easy Class if you attend and take notes.Didnt even need to buy the book to pass.Everything on the tests comes directly from notes. He explains everything very clearly. His jokes make the class a bit enjoyable. No homework.Overall good class.
Harvath really makes econ fun! He is so helpful and always willing to work with you. Don't ever need the textbook. Offers extra credit every now and then. Sincerely wants you to succeed.
Very easier teacher. Just make sure to do the work and take notes during lecture.
Great teacher. Come to class, take notes, study and you'll be just fine in the class. Economics has always been a tough and not so favorite subject of mine, but Professor Harvath explained everything extremely well.
Rarely read the textbook but took plenty of notes. Just come to class and listen to his lecture. He reviews a lot so you can't miss anything. Gives extra credit because "he's a nice guy." He makes economic concepts so much easier by using real-life examples. It's an easy class if you take it seriously. He wears hilarious t-shirts. Great professor!
He might have went on and on while explaining some of his examples making me feel like he was just talking too much (which sometimes he could) but with out it you wouldn't understand. He's is a really good teacher and is great with explaining things. Just make sure you take good notes, ask questions and study! He gives a lot of extra credit to!
He's cool & everything but he's extremely boring. He can go on & on forever with a lecture. If you have a habbit of dosing off, then don't take him. The tests are hard if you dont study. Overall the class only made me hate econ as a whole. Take someone else!!
Good and Fair Professor but must attend class and study for exams. His notes are a complete reflection of test. He gives out extra credit for being at class. Overall, a good professor, I would recommend him.
Easy A. take him to get an A.
offers tons of extra credit, just show up to class and you will be fine, you don't need a text book because the lecture is presented on powerpoint in class, all test are dead on to the study guide he gives you in class.
Professor Harvath, If you hate economics you should take his class. He's pretty funny. His lectures are long and sometimes you might dose off but you can always go over them as he posts the slides on the faculty website. I took him for both micromacro. I got an A on both. He grades on a curve 87.5 for A. Show up for quizzes (9) tests(3) easy A.
Prof. Harvath is very caring, clear with his demands, and pretty funny. He's extremely, extremely knowledgeable in terms of economics and has fantastic public speaking skills. With that being said, he is SO knowledgeable that I liken him to a witness of a crime being questioned. He cannot get the facts out fast enough! In other words he talks FAST!
Too long lectures
Professor Harvath is the reason I'm an Econ major. He's a great professor and he's a really funny guy. He explains everything so well and if you need extra help he's there to help. His class is easy and the test are not too bad. Only bad thing is that he gives you pop quizzes and he only gives lectures from powerpoint but overall he's awesome!!!!
If you do not like lectures, do not take his class. His test are easy, he gives you the previous semesters test and if you study that, you can pass his class. He gives out homework and pop-quizzes often, but they are short and do not take long.+
I just went back to school after 9 years and couldn't have asked for a better teacher to have teach my class. He teaches econ 1 and 2 and if u take both you only have to show up to one class for the whole first unit until the first test and he gives double credit. His dry sense of humor is great and he clowns class clowns to silence. Best teacher!
I took 2 classes so I'm writing again to say how awesome this professor is! Don't listen to the haters who say his lectures are long and boring he goes off funny and entertaining slides and looks the part of an econ nerd but is a super cool guy. all hw is extra credit and allows 2 weeks for a make up test. pop quizzes and hw r crucial for tests.
Amazing professor! Cares about his students. Will help as much as he can. Makes classes fun and interesting. Take notes. Look at slides. All homework is extra credit. Tests are not cumulative. Definitely take his class and read his funny shirts.
Dr. Harvath is hilarious. Took 2 of his classes. Take his class to see for yourself.
Harvath is a great prof. His lectures are great and hilarious and all the homework is extra credit. The tests are very easy and he goes over it the class before .
Class was very straight forward. Test were easy. He has you print his study guide from his website and bring it to class. He will give you all of the answers to the study guide, and the test is mostly word for word to the study guide.
This class is pretty straight forward so if you do the work and study enough then you will be fine. The class is very reliant on lecture so you want to make sure to have regular attendance because its pretty hard to learn from only the book. He's a cool guy and his lectures can be interesting at times so I would recommend to take him.
Very hard teacher. The test are very demanding.
Class was easy. Goes over a practice test from last semester and explains what he expects on your answers. The questions from the practice test are basically identical to the ones on the actual exam, just worded differently. Homework are extra credit, but highly recommend you do them to understand the material. Gives pop quizzes, but they are easy.
He is so professional and amzing professor. I recommend him.
He wears shirts with funny saying and is very entertaining. His classes are not hard at all. just pay attention! always expect your tests to be on list! One of my best profs this semester
VERRRRy FUnny guy. Do the study guide, which is given from the beginning of the semester because it will help you get an A on the exams. quizzes are almost every week and are usually what he covered in class the days before.
I took him for Econ 1 & 2, both of which were very easy. I did not buy the book for either class and i still got an A in both, they're NOT necessary. He understands that pretty much everyone there is to complete their gen ed. There are 3 exams, a bit of HW, and quizzes. He goes over the exam of the previous semester and they are almost the same.
He's not a good teacher. It's clear that he really doesn't care if you understand the material.
Professor Harvath is very difficult. He does not spend enough time on certain topics and expects you to know things that you don't. His tests are very hard and math heavy. I would definitely recommend Dr. Zikri over him.
Lectures were very scattered. I wouldn't recommend taking his class.
He tries to make the subject as fun as one could possibly do with econ. Good sense of humor. The homework isn't too difficult, there are a lot of quizzes, he does a lot to prepare students for tests. He always tries to be as fair as possible.
Dude teaches a boring subject, but still has witty jokes. Show up to class, take decent notes, and you'll never need the book.(never bought it) Exams and weekly quizzes are lecture based.
Harvath was such a chill guy. He emails you a powerpoint with all the lectures for the unit and does a review before the tests. Very nice in office hours. I took Macro with him.
Homework is extra credit but not worth a lot. Quizzes about every week or so. Powerpoint is online. Subject can be boring but his humor lightens up the mood. He does go over a practice test (almost identical) before the actual test which helps a ton. Speaks clearly and overall a good choice. You will still have to study of course but it's not hard.
Easy class if you do the work and show up every class. Grading scale makes it easy to get an A.
Provides a PowerPoint for each of his lectures. There is a book available, but not needed, there is free online text available. Gives out the previous semester's test to demonstrate the test format. All homework is extra credit, helps understand concepts. All quiz and homework are corrected before the unit tests. No cumulative testing.
His lectures were so hard to understand. He did not spend too much time on any subject, and the whole class is literally lectures with powerpoints. The tests are hard even if you do the study guide last semester test. The homework is extra credit but not enough to help you raise your grade.
He teaches a kind of boring subject but still has a good sense of humor. There are weekly quizzes based on lecture. Homework also but thats not worth a lot of points. He also goes over last semester tests which helps prepare you for exams. Just put in the time to study and understand the material, its not a difficult class.
He maintains good cheer throughout the semester in a normally boring subject. There's a quiz/homework every week, but what matters is the 3 big tests. Easy to pass his class just keep up with his reading assignments.
Harvath is an awesome professor and makes what could be a boring subject into something really interesting. He's a hilarious guy and has the class laid out very clearly - plus, he follows the schedule faithfully. Ask questions during the lectures if you don't understand, do the homework, and study the sample exams to succeed.
he care about his students.
Dr. Harvath is one of the teacher he really care about his class, he spend every single minute explaining , he do not wasting any minute in nothing more than his class. He is an example of a good worker. He work for each penny he make at BC. I love how Dr. Harvath teaches the class. Thank you Dr. Harrvath.
Really great guy, very memorable voice. Makes an otherwise really boring class kinda fun. Really, all there is to do in the class is follow along to the powerpoint and take notes. Draw the graphs until you can do it blindfolded (which is super easy anyway) and its an easy A. Any bad reviews was probably from people who didnt pay attention in class!
Dr. Harvath was great! This subject is not very easy, but he is an intelligent man and does a great job explaining it. Quizzes every other week or so, he drops your 2 lowest grades. Homework is extra credit. 3 unit tests. He goes over last semesters unit test as review and makes your test almost identical. Attendance not mandatory but it helps
Great at teaching. Class based on lectures and slides from the textbook. 9 Quizzes (Easy), Worst 2 get dropped. 3 tests. Final is basically the third unit test. Goes over the previous semester's test the class before the upcoming unit test. Previous test is very similar to the upcoming one. Homework gives a small extra credit, but adds up. 87%A
Professor Harvath is by far one of my favorite professors at Bakersfield College. Even though he teaches a boring subject he makes the class fun and entertaining. He also offers extra credit opportunities through out the semester.
Good professor. His lectures are enjoyable to sit through, he makes them interesting. Homework are only extra credit so it only helps your grade. Theres a quiz every week but as long as you do the reading and pay attention to the lectures you'll be fine. He goes over last semester's unit exams which is identical to the actual Exam. An A is an 87.5%
Dr. Harvath is an incredible human and top notch professor. If you have a chance to learn from him, do it! Be prepared to take copious notes (I think he actually says that on lecture 1) and apply your notes to your homework. Yeah, I only earned a B, but I earned it and know where I went wrong. You can earn an A, if you stay ORGANIZED!
I really enjoyed his lectures, he gets straight to the point and seems to care a lot about his students. The modules and homework are both very easy. He also will let you turn in late assignments. He's an awesome instructor and I really enjoyed being his student.
If you're not attending class and taking this class during co-vid online I recommend you don't take this class. His videos are so boring you WILL lose attention and start falling asleep. In the last 2 modules he even makes you re-watch them he claims his videos wont be more than 16 minutes but they're up to 19 minutes long.
I took him Fall 2020 online. He is by far the best professor! His class was super easy. It was mainly just watching the lecture videos, taking notes, then taking a quiz. Only way to even fail his class is if you seriously dont do any work. Highly recommend this professor!!
Took Econ B1 in his class. Great teacher, breaks things down so they are easy to understand. Gives multiple examples, and simple diagrams. The textbook used for this class was FREE and available online, which was nice. Responds very quickly to emails. Sends out lots of communication. Has great video lectures. Definitely taking again for Econb2.
Really loved this class. Great lectures online, and you'll feel that you learn a lot by the end of it. The professor is nice and always available during his routine office hours on zoom. Lots of quizzes and tests, but doesn't feel too difficult as it's all basically info from the video lectures. Very well put together class.
Harvath is one of the best econ professors I've ever had! His lectures are easy to understand, clear, and funny! I highly recommend that you take his class if you have the chance too! Just make sure you are doing your readings and taking good notes, if you put in that effort you are guaranteed an A!
The professor was a great instructor. His power slides and lecture where clear and understand. To pass his class the answer is either in the home work or on the slides. For all test the answer comes from the slide or home work so its that easy. Can be complicated at times but the power points are easy to follow. He also makes the lectures fun.
I just had him in the fall semester of 2021, he was a great professor. Lecture is the whole class period, quizzes are easy if you study and tests are quizzes and the PowerPoint info that he teaches. Homework is a little harder at times, but if you complete it you will get 100%. Great class, would recommend.
Professor Harvath is a good teacher and would recommend him to students interested in taking an ECON class. He is reachable outside of class and has office hours 4 days a week. Homework counts as extra credit, but I strongly suggest you do it as it will help your grade. Take as many notes as you can because it will show up on the quizzes and exams.
His class was easy to grasp and was super easy! He keeps class interesting and as long as you take notes and study the homework you'll get out of the class with an A.
Harvath was excellent! All of the tests are based off lectures but he provides study guides and answers to them so if you study you shouldn't have a problem. There are short quizzes once a week but they are easy and he gives homework that is up extra credit. He provides the textbook so you don't have to purchase one. This class was fun!
Quizzes and tests are timed, so if you get test anxiety from seeing time limits, you're not getting enough time to read through the problems. He doesn't explain the material very well, so you'll need a tutor to parse through it all. His notes will sometimes have errors that completely change the lesson, so listen closely to his lectures.
Great professor, very knowledgeable on the subject of economics. I took his online macroeconomics course and it was very easy to navigate. You won't be surprised on the assignments you get weekly. He keeps it very simple with a few 20 minute lectures, short quizzes, and module test every week. Definitely recommend professor Harvath.
Great professor, the whole class just consists of him going over lecture slides. All of the homework assigned is extra credit. The quizzes are super easy. This class was very easy as long as you pay attention. Definitely recommend.
Pretty cool Professor, just that he talks way too much in his lectures to the point where he get off topic, but other than that his classes are pretty good, you can also pass his class by not even going to class sometimes but I don't recommend it lol. But I do highly recommend him tho.
I took his online macroeconomics course. I'm not great with fully asynchronous courses but Prof. Harvath did a great job organizing the course. If you're responsible with your time you'll have no problem getting an A. He also grades on a 12.5% scale rather than the traditional 10%, so it's easier to get a high letter grade in this course.
Highly recommend Professor Harvath. He is very funny and makes macroeconomics easy to understand.
i took this class in summer of 2024 his lestures were really long i was going to tutoring to get help with his class and i will still get the homeworks wrong because the line was not at the specific place he wanted.
Was always late, drank too much soda during class and he looked unmotivated. Every time I was in his class I almost fell asleep.
This professor is very fast with his lectures so if you end up with him make sure to listen carefully! His quizzes are horrible and weirdly hard. He grades on paper he's very old school! I recommend TAKE A SWEATER! your welcome. He LOVES Coca Cola. Do not recommend this class no! Not even to my biggest enemy. Take this as you please, thank you.
Professor Harvath is one of the most good professors I have taken in Bakersfield College it was online class he is very nice and graded the assignments at the same day I recommend him.
Prof. Harvath knows his stuff. Lectures can be lengthy, but he simplifies complex topics well. Homework and quizzes are manageable, and Unstuck AI proved a handy study tool. If you stay engaged, you'll likely earn a solid grade.
recommend, great professor, he loves his job, and grades fast !! 10/10
Professor Harvath is a fantastic professor. He is very passionate and knowledgeable about his lectures. Homework and quizzes are simple and easy, with extra credit in between. He engages with the class to the fullest every time. Tests are also easy; he reviews the review packages and answers all questions. I highly recommend taking his class.
Mr. Harvath is amazing! I was worried abt class cuz reviews said lots of work. There is, but if your not on a waiting list, & U can chk canvas early. Check canvas 1-2 wks b4 class. He opens the class early b4 the 1st wk of school. So work ahead right away & @your own pace. He puts up next weeks work ahead of time as well. Easy2Get ahead&stay ther.
I got an A in B1 & B2. ALWAYS do the HW, it's 100% extra credit & helps with doing well on unit tests. There are 9 quizzes, 3 unit tests, & your 3 lowest scoring quizzes get dropped. An A grade = 87.5% or >. The material is a bit tricky, but if you go over the material a few times a week, do all HW, & study passed back quizzes/HW, you will pass.
Great professor you can tell he loves to teach economics. All lectures are posted on canvas. He gives out 9 homework's, 9 quizzes, and 3 unit test. Final is not cumulative. All HW is extra credit as well as practice for fill in the blanks for unit tests. He also gives out random extra credit just for making it to midterms and the final.
Professor Harvath is great, passionate, and sprinkles humor into his lectures. His grading is clear, and he will always review what will be on his tests. My favorite part of this course was the fact that he wears different shirts that are relevant to the lecture. If you do not understand, ask questions because he talks quickly.
BEST ECONOMICS TEACHER! This class was not hard just show up and do the work and you'll be fine!!
Absolute favorite class, Mr. Harvath is hilarious! His class is so easy but I learned A LOT. The textbook is free online but you do need to buy scantrons for tests. His lectures aren't dull and he gives great examples that are very similar to the ones on the tests. Study guides are also very helpful, also make sure to really your vocab for quizzes.
He's like a bundle of joy. I can't stand math, but his lectures were understandable and enjoyable. His class structure is super easy to follow, and he gives excellent feedback and is great at answering questions. There's quite a few assignments a week, but they are very short and he offers so much extra credit on homework. Very easy class.
