great teacher. pretty much a hard ass but he forces you to learn to avoid embarassment.
Great professor, but not easy. You'll definately learn the material well. If you show up to class then you shouldn't even have to study for exams because you'll already know everything you need to.
He will make you work for your grade, but he is also a professor that actually teaches the material. You will definitely learn a lot in his class.
You will learn with this prof... Not east but worth the challenge.
If you have a sense of humor and actually want to learn something, take Professor Haselkorn. He comes off as mean spirited, but it's just playful sarcasm. Also, if you need advising advice, he is a good resource. :-)
Scary at first because he will call on everyone randomly, but as semester goes on eases up. A great teacher, not the easiest, but you actually learn a lot.
Great Guy!!! Comes off as an ass until he gets the stupid people to drop the class. Teaches the material and genuinely wants to see the student do well... if they show initiative.
awful class.
Make sure all homework is done becuase he picks on students for answers. Seems intimidating at first, but really a nice guy. Test are HARD!

DO NOT TAKE. Very arrogant. Syllabus, homework, and tests are inconsistant with eachother. Sarcastic. Worst teacher at this school. Asks trick questions and loves the fact that he is smarter than you. Seems easy at first then kills you on the first test. If you want to cry alot then take his class.
One of the best teachers in the AC program. Notice the students who gave him horrible reviews are Finance students taking AC260. You will do more work for him than most other teachers but you will be much better off as your studies progress. You will run into graduate professors who he taught back in the day :)
He's a good professor relative to the other ones...he is extremely sarcastic and will make you participate in class. Pay attention and do the problems in class when he tells you too...he has crazy mind powers and knows when you arent paying attention...if you keep up with the work you should do fine.
Mean and unhelpful at office hrs..but The best guy to take AC310 with (better than Klein 4sho) but I wouldnt take him for any other course at Bentley...class is miserable to go to, you will always feel scared and on ur feet...mid term exam is almost exact same thing as practice so make sure you do well on that...And then the final? well good luck.
EXCELLENT PROFESSOR! I would take him again in a heartbeat if i could...explains everything very clearly and he is very intelligent...he will push you to work and think hard but you will be better off because of him...not easy but not impossible if you go to class...best you can get for AC310...very sarcastic and will try to scare you the 1st week
AWESOME PROFESSOR! WISH I COULD TAKE HIM AGAIN...WILL LEARN A LOT! GO TO CLASS AND DO THE HW - GET A GOOD GRADE! DONT BE INTIMIDATED BY HIM NO MATTER HOW MUCH HE TRIES! BEST FOR COST ACCOUNTING! TAKE HIM! TAKE HIM! TAKE HIM! AWESOMEEE...I GOT A 3.7! :)
Hazelkorn. Man a 3.7 what a noob. If you can't get a 4.0 in this class man that is terrible. Easiest teacher around. I never went to one class and never studied and got a 4.0. Dude take this teacher now he is the best teacher at bentley for AC-310.
This professor was really mean to me until the midterms came back I got one of the highest scores in the class. he was then really nice. this guy will make you work hard for the 4.0. Not impossible though to pull off the 4.0 but you better get ready to do some work. Don't be happy with a 3.7 with this guy. Shoot for a 4.0.

All he does is problems. No lecturing. If you like this, he is ur man, but if you like a happy medium... then this isn't who you want. If you have a question about a problem he will answer it. Go over homework problems in class on the board every day. Make sure you do the homework, you will get more out of the class.
Hm, what can I say... very difficult, but a great professor. Pushes you to your full potential. Must do homework every class, he calls on you and will wait for you to get the answer/embarass you in front of the class if you don't know. If you don't like being called on, don't take. Can be confusing at times with many shortcuts, but good overall

Yo just copped that new cost book for learning by yaself ....it's addicting man and this guys the man, he knows it all
He can't teach. I had Prof. Cross as a substitute once, and I realized how much he sucked. Good luck if you're taking him. I wouldn't if I were you. On another note, he doesn't a CPA.
He honestly is one of the most smug and arrogant people I've ever met. If you raise your hand and answer a question wrong in class he does his best to make you feel stupid. Makes condescending remarks towards students daily.
Gives a headache. Read the book before taking his class.
have to do the homework and read before class. he enjoys making people sound stupid in front of the entire class, so watch out.
engaging and knowledgeable; uses many real world examples to help students understand the issues discussed; can be slightly condescending and cheeky but that sort of adds to his appeal
Very good professor! Has his own original techniques, but a very good professor!
arrogant, condescending teacher that likes to bully students. Makes tests too tricky and randomly calls on everyone. If your someone that is constantly prepared take him otherwise, find someone else
Would you like to UNDERSTAND (more than just learn) how accounting works? Then this professor is right for you! He is very knowledgeable and experienced. He is the one who wants his students understand the subject. Do your homework before the class and you will get the most of it. Also, don?t afraid ask questions if you have any!
Smart, fair, funny; what else could you ask for? Two exams: mid-term (30%) & final (40%). Group project (interviewing manufacturing co & writing a paper on their costin sytem). Major learning is from text--suplemented by class problems & questions. Sometimes the way he jokes might offend someone with thin skin, but he doesn't mean to offend anyone.
Awesome professor! He's very straightforward and tries to incorporate humor in class. He encourages questions during and outside of class. The practice midterm is very helpful, even though it takes forever to complete! Be sure to practice the homework problems to the point where you can intuitively complete them for the final.
Honestly, i was surprised to see the smiley face next to his name on this site. I'm not sure if it was because we had a new book ( and it didn't bother to change his teacher styles in response) or my frustration with him, but this course was bad- really bad. His jokes aren't funny, there mean.. and he won't help you in office hours.
I took him both in undergrad and as a grad student at bentley and he definitely like grad students way better. Exams were open book and pretty easy buy long. Advice though: come prepared to class and he'll like you a lot more.
Very Very good professor. Actually teaches the material and you will learn alot from him. Many people dont like him because he actually requires you do to homework before class and rips on you if you dont, which is actually pretty funny. Definitely recommend taking him if you want to learn accounting
took it at the extension school, readers will know what im talking about..GREAT PROF, take online option and look at videos a thousand times, dont be scared of assignments, he doesnt collect, but you better do them for yourself since that's all your grade is going to be based on. shabat shalom
I really enjoyed Prof. Haselkorn's class. Dare I say, he was able to make an accounting class... interesting. Grades consist of a paper, midterm, and a final. Study hard for both the midterm (do the practice exam he gives you) and the final. I ended up with a 3.7.
I attended the financial accounting course with him in Harvard extension school. He Makes things simple. Down to earth and easily approachable. Well structured course. Humorous and makes class very interesting with nice anecdotes
4.0 in his cost acctg class and it's been years since and I will say that the final was the hardest thing I ever took in my 5 years at Bentley (grad included)...really expects you to work your tail off and be prepared each class.was frequently embarrassed &looked stupid being called on but just keep working hard & you be fine.
Hes a really good teacher explains material well but his tests are really hard. You'll learn cost accounting but may not get the grade you want
His tests are extremely difficult but he knows that so he scales them to even it out. One of the only professors at Bentley that will seriously challenge you, but wants his students to do well so he's helpful in office hours and class. If you're willing to work hard, you'll do well in his class. I'd take him again.
Class is very helpful, and the homework has a solution booklet which helps studying. But tests are very tough. First exam was scaled up 13 points because of how low they were.I recommend the other prof in this course if possible since he only gives one exam then the final. Also a tough grader on the project.
One of the best teachers at Bentley. You learn a lot and he's hilarious! Does not collect hw but knows if you do it or not. Cold calls, but as long as you are prepared you will be fine. Tests are hard but as long as you can do the homework problems you should be okay. If you want an easy A this is not the class for you, but you will learn a lot!
This professor is not helpful at all. When you come to him with help on a question, all he does is tell you to get a tutor. I am a grad student, and in my years as an undergrad or grad had a professor that cares so little about the success of his students. If you can avoid taking a class with him, do it!
You will have to work harder in Haselkorn's class than you would in any other 310 prof's. But, you can learn a ton from this guy and if you're willing to work and go to office hours for extra help, this is the best option by far.
He is a really tough Professor, so defenitely be prepared to work hard. Yet if you're willing to do the work and engage yourself in the class he will appriciate it and you will be able to do well.
DO NOT take accounting with this professor. He responds to e-mails a week late with one word answers, isnt helpful at all, and the TA is pretty much nonexistent. If you want to pass, put in your own time and read the book word for word. Otherwise prevent taking class with this guy at all cost especially if there's a second option!!!
He explains the material thoroughly with good examples and makes class fun. Make sure you do your homework because he actually calls on people to answer and walks around to see who did it. Can be intimidating.
Do Not take his class.. To get a good grade you shouldn't read the books but just have to be in his good books
Had MH at the Harvard Extension January 'semester, teaching a 3-week intensive course on Financial Accounting. He teaches blackboard only (no power point) and he is good at it. Lots of conceptual questions. He gives students time to think and talk in class. Although a tad eccentric he is a nice guy and genuinely wants his student to succeed.
I took the three week intensive with Prof Haselkorn. We did not get the answer keys until the last week of a 3 week course and he did not seem to care. So we could only guess if we did the work ok. He was not overly helpful so I had to get a tutor. For the price paid for these courses the teacher should care a little and try to help when needed.
He's a terrible professor. Probably the worst professor I've ever had. He's confusing and does a very poor job teaching the course. You're better reading the book and teaching yourself. Take anyone else for an accounting class and you'd be better off because he tries to fail everyone. Plus he does tai-chi before every class which is so dumb.
Very poor job teaching the course. Shows little care to students who seek help.
I really don't understand the complaints about him. He spends every single class teaching us how to do problems that are similar to those on the exams. If you take decent notes, pay attention in class, and don't suck at accounting, you should be able to do fine.
I took his accounting principles class at Harvard. I think he missed the course title mentioning 'principles', the course is hard. He just does problems in lecture class, there is no teaching. You teach yourself by digging through the books. His exams a re hard, the final tests the exceptions. So know the material in and out, do not rely on curve.
I have an Accounting Degree with 20 years experience. I took this class as a graduate student at HES. There was very little "Principle of Accounting an he spent an inordinate amount of time on simple things like preparing a cash flow statement. Do not wsste your tuition.
Put in 100+ studying hours before midterm, Hired tutor. No midterm review, gave only old midterm with no answers. I knew that sample midterm back and forth, did with my tutor multiple times, thought I got an A, actually got a 65. Not clear teaching or grading. Cannot get a hold of. Had to drop class. Take class with another teacher. I will be.
Test are incredibly hard...
Very professional and knowledgable -- an industry expert and it shows. That said, this class was incredibly difficult, and felt more difficult than need be. His teaching style is incredibly hands-off, to a fault. He has a tendency to make students feel stupid in class. High expectations. Somehow managed to pull a 2.7. Take someone else.
Good teacher, he is quite funny and makes the class pass by fast. He helped us understand cash flows. Contrary to what other reviewers say, he was an easy grader. He starts each class with a Tai-chi 5 min session which relaxes you and puts you in a better state to tackle accounting. He is very approachable and down to earth. Likable professor.
He really knows his stuff. Tests are not easy, but you will learn and understand managerial accounting in and out if you take him. Funny guy too, actually makes class enjoyable. Recommend.
He has a fabulous sense of humour (though clearly not understood by all). He teaches what could be a painful subject with fabulous clarity and patience.
This class is one of the most confusing accounting classes I have ever taken. Prof. Haselkorn always shows up late to class, mumbles when he talks, and his handwriting is illegible. He scales the grades so you won't end up failing, but you also won't learn a single thing and it's a very frustrating class.
I'm in Mikey's class now he sucks so bad. He just said to someone "I'm going to come over there and break your fingers off if that's a cell phone". Can you even say that?? He talks to us like he wants to punch us and yells out number grades all class to rate people. Plot twist he's a 0. If you're reading this professor, you should try being nicer.
"Professor" Haselkorn's AC 310 course would be much easier if he did not show up to class and let us use the time to read the text and work through practice problems. Typical student-Haselkorn interaction: "How did you get $85,000?" "Well I added 60,000 and 25,000." rather than explaining the inputs.
All the people complaining about Haselkorn just didn't take the time to study. Prof. Haselkorn is the man, has a good sense of humor, goes over the problems in detail, and even gives you an exam in advance to study for the midterm and final. He really doesn't expect much and teaches you a lot. Anyone complaining just wants to be coddled.
Professor Haselkorn has a strong personality so a lot of people don't like him. I enjoyed his personality and humor. Yes he forces everyone to be called on but you know it's coming and everyone is wrong at some point. He gives you the midterm and final beforehand with different numbers. Just be aware of the due dates for the online assignments!
You start class with Tai Chi, surprisingly, I liked it. You read the chapter and do hw before class, and then he teaches and sees what questions you have. Sometimes, he goes over problems quickly and doesn't write it down, so ASK HIM TO DO IT! Exams: If you can figure out the practice exam, read the chapters and do the hw, you will do fine.
Destroyed Cost Management for students. Now destroying GB112 and GB212. Rude and Arrogant. Avoid at all costs
Who cares about TAI CHAI. Teach me Accounting.
HORRIBLE. 1 page syllabus is horrible, lectures are terrible. This professor reads straight from the textbook; I may as well be teaching myself. $2550 wasted at Harvard Extension School. Accounting is boring enough, but this professor takes it to a new low level. This professor should've retired since he's clearly on vacation during lectures.
Professor Haselkorn was very condescending during class, while also not teaching us at all. For an intro class, he acts as though you should already know accounting. The class consisted of illegible practice problems on the board. The exams seemed very easy but he nit-picked every little thing. He is an AWFUL TEACHER. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!
If you are taking a class at Harvard do NOT expect to be coddled. Had several classmates upset because no one explained the online class to them, its Harvard not community college. MH is sarcastic so if you don't like that kind of humor don't take his class. He spends lectures going over hw problems. Class is average of 2 tests total.
received a 4.0 in his cost class at Bentley 10 years ago. was the hardest class of any class in the 5 year program (that includes the MSA program). being in his class is a little bit scary because he calls on people randomly, so you have to stay on your toes the whole time. You also MUST prepare each week and read every chapter and not fall behind
Starts every class with tai chi, which is pointless. Doesn't use powerpoints, doesn't use blackboard, has terrible handwriting and will give the class an example then walk around the class for 20 minutes to ask everyone if they have the answer. It was nice to be given so many examples, but he explains very poorly how the answer was calculated.
Pretty bad teacher. No power points, hard to understand, second grader handwriting. Really sarcastic so if you like that kind of humor then he's a pretty funny guy. This class will consist of mostly self learning from the book. Try not to take this class
Really good and helful professor.
Gets a bad rep. Good teacher easy grader
such a great professor. has such a bad reputation because of how he teaches but honestly all you have to do is get used to his teaching. doesn't use powerpoints, gives examples instead (which helps you more once you take the tests). absolutely hilarious if you're able to take sarcasm
Great professor. His classes are a bit boring but he is very lenient with his grading. I would definitely take him again if i could!
I am really happy with Profesor Haselkorn. He made a clearer and better understanding of basic accounting for me. Lots of people complain about him, but I think, if you crunch some study time before and after class, you will be great. I like his style, hilarious, straight to the point. Accounting usually boring, but with him, is not the case.
Probably the easiest grader for 112 or 212 especially for the group project. This course is the same regardless of professor for exams and homework. He knows his stuff and if you follow along in class and do your assignments, you will do fine. Highly recommed, but beware he is extremely sarcastic and some people may not like him because of this.
Professor Haselkorn never writes anything on the board, never goes over power points and never give out handouts. However, he is a pretty lenient grader for the group project. He doesn't really do a good job at explaining and his humor can be sometimes kind of rough and not funny at all. He always does taichi at the beginning of the class.
Decent alternative but far from being a great professor.
Here's the deal. He doesn't teach from the slideshows, only verbal lectures, illegible handwriting, and does tai chi for the first 3 minutes of class. He's a lenient group project grader but his exams were hard.
Criminally underrated. I feel like no professor explains the material as simply as this guy does. Obviously the material is difficult but 50% of the course is review of 112 or material that only slightly variates. And for the record, I'm a fan of the tai chi.
