Part time professor, but maybe the best lecturer at the campus. The class is made easy because his lectures are so informative and clear. One midterm; one 4-6 page paper and of course the final. I really enjoyed this class and i'm pretty sure his future students will too.

Very good professor that knows he's history very good. Would recommend him I enjoyed his lectures. Sometimes he makes some funny jokes. Don't really need the book, but you must attend all class meetings if not you will fall behind a lot. Other than that this class is based on one midterm and a final all free response.

This is a really fun professor. If you thought history was boring, let me tell you that with this professor is not. Going to class is not mandatory, but you would want to go to every lecture, because you enjoy the quality of the class, and of course the professor :) I strongly recommend him.

Talk about passionate! His enthusiastic lectures are interesting and memorable, so go to class and study notes before the midterm & final. Do that and you're good to go! No homework, just the 2 tests (study guides given) and grading was very lenient. For a required class on a topic I don't like, I actually enjoyed this class!

I wasn't really looking forward to taking the required history course, but this professor actually made it quite interesting. Entire course is based off of two tests that are blue book, but he gives the study guides a week before and it's literally what will be on the tests. I would recommend him to anybody. Lecture style is quite funny, very enthusiastic, and surprisingly informative.

This class in an easy A.. Just record every lecture and study 10 of the terms he gives. Also only study 2 of the 3 short essay questions. Take notes, He likes it when the student repeat what he said in class. If you Google an answer and put it for a test he'll mark you wrong, cause it wasn't something he said during lecture.

One of the best classes I've taken at CSUSB. He is funny and you wont be bored during his lectures. Study the terms for the midterm and you will do fine. Attend lecture and take good notes since you won't use the book and he doesn't want you to google the terms for the exams. It sucks he's only part time, I would take another class with him.

I was not a fan of history before taking his class from the first day of lecture he made it so much fun and interesting! I would highly recommend him. The class was enjoyable and you learn so much. I looked forward to attending lecture and loved how the class was organized. He gives you an extremely comprehensive study guide, use it.

"All right History fans, welcome to another edition of History 201." I can honestly say that he is one of my favorite professors. He teaches in a way that makes you want to learn more. Every class felt like story time. Although attendance isn't mandatory, I say you go! Plus, the study guide is EXACTLY like the exams.

I don't like history, but I liked this class. There was a lot of interaction and many different ways to keep the students engaged. 1 midterm, 1 final, both bluebook. A study guide is given and the exam is a mirror of the study guide. Awesome professor, definitely take him if you dislike history, he makes it interesting.

Come for the prerequisite requirements for graduation, stay for the entertaining and insightful perspectives about American History. Hawkins is a master at story telling. He explains ideas completely, weaving plots together so that the big picture becomes clear, and constantly includes pop references sure to make you smile or laugh.

Great teacher! He loves his subject, the tests were easy if you pay attention in class. The book isn't really necessary but if you want that extra push on your test then go ahead and buy it. Test are midterm and final. Simple as that. Definitely the best history teacher I have ever had in my life. Awesome! Great Humor and HOT!

Professor Hawkins is an amazing professor. The best I've had at CSUSB so far. He has two tests, 1 midterm and 1 final. He gives you exactly what will be on the tests which makes it that much easier. He posts his PowerPoints a week before the exam, so you can study off them, but doesn't do much if you don't elaborate. His class is an easy A.

History Professors don't get better than Prof. Hawkins! Every class is engaging, hilarious and interesting! I really enjoyed every class. I don't recommend skipping because he explains the concepts he wants you to know for the exam clearly in class (they are not explicitly written in power points).

The lectures are entertaining, despite the fact that they cover the not-so-entertaining topic of history. Going to class or getting the notes from someone is an absolute must! There are only two tests & they cover the exact material given in lecture. The tests are presented in literally the same format as the study guide he provides. Recommend!

Professor Hawkins is honestly one of the best professors I've taken thus far. He makes lectures intersting and you dont fall asleep! I wasnt looking forward to this class but im super glad I took it, especially with him. I would reccomend him for anyone even if you just need extra credits, very informational and not hard at all!

Absolutely loved Hawkins! Attendance is NOT mandatory, but he makes classes fun and entertaining. You also get the test material by going to lectures and taking notes (which you can only get by going to class). There are two exams (Midterm and final), which he gives you the exact questions from the exams on the study guide.

He makes his lectures straight to the point and you dont need a textbook. I didnt show up half the time, but he tells you exactly what will be on the midterm (half of your grade) and final (the other half of your grade). He also posts the lectures on blackboard.

This class has been one of the easiest class i have taken. no book needed but attendance is a big must! what he says is on the 2 exams he gives. just listen and take notes and you're good. nothing is hard, everything is right in front of you. he gives study guides with everything that will be on the exam.

I am NOT good at history, never was. But he makes history fun, and made us all laugh. He gives permission to record, I highly recommend to take him up on this offer. Especially if you are like me, and accidentally end up falling asleep during his 8am lecture. That way, you won't miss anything (and can appreciate his jokes when you are more awake).

Thought the class was going to be more challenging (covid-19), but the class was still just as easy. Grade is 50% midterm and 50% final, essays only (lenient grader) . We only have 2 assignments throughout the quarter/class- Midterm and Final. Listen to the lectures to answer the prompts for the assignments. He gives you 4 possible prompts and out of those 4, he chooses 2 of them. Basically, you can write what you hear from the lectures,straight, onto your paper just make sure it makes sense and is clear.

The whole class consisted of recorded lectures but he is an amazing teacher. There was no homework in class besides just watching the lectures. We only had a midterm and a final and your grade was based on that. But he would give you the prompts ahead of time so when the exam would open up you would just copy and paste your essay. This class was online. you only have to worry about listening to his lectures and no homework. He gives 4 exams only and they're purely based on his lecture's. He doesn't grade harsh at all just make sure you answer all aspects of the prompt well and you'll receive a good grade.

This past semester with Dr. Hawkins was one of my favorite things about online learning. His recorded lectures are hilarious (but long) and I learned a lot. (Listen to them on Youtube at 2x speed). He provides the questions for his essay exams a week prior so you have plenty of time to make rough drafts. Mention EVERY detail. I passed with an A.

This was my best online class. There are pre-recorded lectures that are about an hour long and 4 essay exams in total. If you listen and take notes on the videos you will pass. He gives you plenty of time to write the essay and overall easy if you pay attention. (He's funny so the videos are not to bad).He made learning history easy to understand.

Professor Hawkins is a super upbeat and fun professor. The class is graded by only 4 exams and no final.
