Fun teacher and explains things well. Gives his tests in the Testing Center.
Awesome Teacher. Very cool personality. Excellent! Does not take roll call. Easy going.
For 0390, he is cool, much easier. For College Algebra 1314, he is more strict on doing your homework and the tests are harder. He is still cool if you miss class or late. Very nice guy.
He is the most helfpul and fun teacher I could have hoped for. He cares more about you learning and understanding the material than due dates. His class is fun and actually worth going to.

Great teacher. I'm half way through the semester, and I know I will pass with a high B or low A because he is very good at explaining things extra if you need help!
Great teacher. Is willing to help, as long as you ask. Got an A in the class. All you have to do is try and you should at least get a B in the class. Highly recommend takeing this class.
Made the material easy to understand. Gives lots of second chances and the opportunity to make-up work. Most test were taken at our own pace.
I had him for College Algebra and Statistics. He is a good teacher but he does have FAVORITES! I was supposed to get an A in Algebra and Stat and he gave me a B with the excuse of "I have too many A's in this semester, so you are getting a B". Gives you all of the notes that you need and he will always let you turn things in late!
good teacher. he gives you every opportunity to do well in his class. always take late work "not very big on daedlines" does not take attendance but his lectures are better than the book for learning the material.
Great teacher, makes it very easy to understand and is always willing to help you if you ask. Do your work, go over the notes and ask for help and you will do fine!
He plays favorites and calls people out like no other teacher.if you want to be a favorite sit in the first row..Some people in my class would bring him coffee, he liked them..He wrote the book so you dont have to buy one. But overall if you do your work and go to class you should get an ok grade. But it's true that he only gives out so many A's.
Great instructor, I had him for Calc 1 and Intro to Stat. He is an extremely well educated man who will extend every chance in class and out for you to excel in his classes. Homeworks and quizzes are not optional, but he has waived them in the past. Socialable, and very enthusiastic. A definite pick for ANY math class.
He is a pretty good teacher... If you pay attention.
Great teacher, highly recommended. Tests are very straight forward, classes are informative(if you pay attention), and he's very easy-going with many laughs. He doesn't have favorites; although he does have his friends. He's always willing to give a helping hand to anyone in and out of class. (People even call his home sometimes).
Great teacher, just pay attention. He does not stress attendance, or deadlines. If you are disciplined enough to show up to class every day, pay attention, and take the tests on your own discipline, then this is the class for you.
Great teacher, had for two classes now. He sincerely wants you to learn and get big picture. "Favorite" discussion isn't really relevant, as it doesn't ensure a grade. He is sociable and classroom is easy going. He appears to be getting sick of being taken advantage of, so have some character and don't be a slacker.
Mike somehow teaches statistics in a way that is fun. Sort of non-traditioal methods, but they work. In the beginning, it was a little overwhelming, but he tries to make sure everyone understands. He grades pretty easy. He has a sarcasm that I found enjoyable. Would definitely take him again for any course I needed.
Great teacher. He asks several times before moving on if everyone understands, he gets frustrated if students don't participate and likes those who do. Not a hard teacher, gives lots of opportunity to earn good grades, he uses everyday examples to help! he recommends use of learn lab, Si sessions and office hours A+ teacher
Mike is a great teacher and is very passionate about making algebra interesting and easy to understand. No need to buy a textbook in his class as he gives handouts from a textbook that he is writing. Come to class, do the homework problems, ask questions if you don't understand, and you're guaranteed an A.
he is the best math teacher at ACC if you want to learn and make a good grade take him. he has take home tests. i liked him calc 2 class. it was funn... if he sees you working hard he will most likely give you an A.
doesnt take attendence. talks fast writes fast. plenty opportunity for good grade. if you struggle with math and comprehending it you will need extra help.
If you take intermediate algebra, you do not learn a lot more in college algebra- about 2 or 3 more things. Huff is a good teacher. I would defintely recommend him to anybody taking college algebra. I hear he is very good teaching with other classes as well. No need to buy textbook- he gives printouts of the one he is writing.
I would agree he does play favorites and if your not a favorite thats it your not a favorite, its almost impossible to change that. I like Mike though, very understanding and fun
Professor Huff is a good instructor. At times it seems as if he has ADD - he's on one subject then hijacks onto something else. However, if you attend class, do the homework, ask questions, and even see him during conference hours - you will succeed in his class. I never saw him play favorites in his class - he's kinda goofy too!
DAMN GOOD TEACHER! only reason you would fail is cause you dont go to class or put forth any effort. he shows you how to solve every single problem in the book quickly with a ti83. warning. if students are caught cheating he will take down his online resources. which include ex. tests and extra study guides.
Best math teacher i have ever had. He has helped me so much!
He is very hyper and goes way too fast at teaching. He gets off topic easily. He gives alot of homework and he is REALLY smart.
Awesome teacher. Very relaxed teacher when it comes to turning things in. Quizzes are take home and you don't have to buy a book! The only negative thing is that he is a bit intimidating when you ask a question and can make you feel a bit stupid but overall I loved his class. Take his class you won't regret it!
love, love, the guy i may end up taking him for cal 1 and 2
great teacher takes time out of his own schedule to help with what you may have problems with. he no longer does take home test, they are called projects now and that is to help you with the test in the testing center.great teacher.
BEST math professor I've ever had! In high school I struggled with math, I barley even passed my classes. I took elem. algebra with him and got my first A's on tests in math. 100% recommend him!
Very Helpful and willing to answer as many questions as you may have. Be believes that practice makes perfect...He is a teacher that really cares about your success but you need to show effort! Mr. Huff is very good at explaining the basic reasoning why you do the problems the way you do them. And by doing this it makes better sense!
Great prof! Always upbeat & helpful. Gave 4 exams and a comprehensive final. Would recommend!
He was super helpful and very interesting (class us certainly not boring). Will drop low grades and allows for make-up test so it's hard not to pass his class.
He's a quirky kind of guy, he is really relaxed but will get aggravated if he has to explain something more than twice. You'll use your text book for every homework assignment which is every class so be prepared for bookwork. His tests aren't hard if you do the review as it is the same material being covered on the test and the final isn't too bad.
Huff is quirky and knows his stuff, he really cares about students understanding the material. He also Prepares u for further math studies
Great teacher, his sarcasm can be a bit misleading at times (do we have a quiz or don't we??) but he is hilarious and really knows his stuff. If you have to suffer through calculus take his class!
This is the best calc II class you can take. Great teacher, easy to understand, will work with you when needed, and makes the class fun!
He is so helpful and very interested in math. He is also very sarcastic so sometimes you don't know if he's kidding or not. Definitely best business cal professor at ACC! He's worth the drive to cypress!
Best math prof I've ever had! Very clear and gives a lot of examples so you're prepared for the test. He gives projects that looks just like the test. Best rated prof for cal 1 and 2. He teaches the material and tests you on the material instead of giving you tricky tests like other profs. He's awesome!
Huff is an amazing teacher with a quirky sense of humor. He is very generous with partial credit and really cares about the success of his students. I have NEVER seen a teacher dedicate so much time out of classroom hours to help his students. His satirical wit can sometimes be intimidating, but he is actually very nice and helpful.
Probably the best teacher at ACC to take any math course with. Very down to earth guy, and very passionate about math and helping his students. Will prepare you for all tests, but you still have to study and understand the material. Wish I could take the rest of my math courses with him
Hands down the best math teacher I have ever had. He is very clear with his examples. He makes math fun. I failed high school calculus but made an A in his class and the only difference was his teaching. Very helpful if he sees that you want to succeed and put in a little effort. I would not take anyone other than Huff for calculus!
Very good and would have him every time if I could :)!
Great Teacher! Wants you to understand what he is teaching and has an amazing passion for teaching! Would recommend him to anyone asking.
Extremely fun teacher. Has a quick wit and is always cracking jokes. He loves to ask questions to the class, I would highly recommend answering him, there are benefits. He doesn't take well to people talking while he's teaching, or walking out of the class. Just don't be a jerk and you'll have a blast. Oh, and do your homework.
Amazing teacher. I had him for 2 terms and he is a great, funny and caring person. He would by far be my favorite teacher at acc. If you get a chance to take his class I HIGHLY recommend it.
Super easy for calc. All review work and notes are online. Print them out and bring them w/ to class to take notes on. He jokes alot sometimes you cant tell if he's serious about due dates otherwise 5/5 clarity. Calculus is a hard class...huff makes it straightforward which makes it easy. Easy A (for a calc class)
A very unusual person. I can honestly state that just because he gets along with people doesn't mean he'll get along with others. He's very knit picky when correcting tests. Likes to make people feel stupid by looking at the ones who failed tests. He likes to skip steps when doing problems. If you're a very sensitive person don't take his class.
Good Professor, easiest stat class ever and made an A! Must attend class to understand lectures. Test are challenging but if you do the reviews and understand them u will do fine. Gives plenty time to turn in homework and quizzes so easy 100's. Just make sure to study for the test!!!
Easy class. goes real fast (16wks) has test reviews tests are somewhat similar to the reviews, somewhat unorganized
Of all the Math instructors at this University he is the best. I have struggled with Math because most instructors do not teach. He teaches and offers additional instruction on his own time. You will not find another instructor who will work this hard to get you through. It is not hard to get an A in his class if you apply yourself
An excellent Professor that is knowledgeable and helpful.
Professor Huff is a good math instructor, but is also quick to jump on someone for a minor interruption. If you are a disrupter, I hope you have thick skin, he can be crass! Beyond his personality quirks, he is laid back with course policies. If you study hard, getting a good grade is feasible.
Was seriously let down by this professor. He favors students that feed his narcissism, which is likely rooted to his Napolean complex. His methodology is fine, but be weary of his need for attention and admiration. Also, he seems to get a sick satisfaction in ridiculing a student that rubs him the wrong way. Something is wrong with this guy.
he is a good professor. He has a website with lecture notes you can print to fill out in class and old exams to practice with. he understands that there are personalities and says things that seem to address people who are unprepared for college but is actually very lenient. his grading policy rely more heavily on tests if that is what you want.
Professor Huff will go the extra yard to help you learn. He segments the material into manageable bits and has a good sense of where the class is before moving forward with a new segment. He was always available to help students during office hours and between classes. Need more hi-ed prof like him.
Great instructor. If you have trouble with Math, this is the instructor to get you through
Mr. Huff is an outstanding professor! He's really hilarious, and just an all around cool guy. He explains concepts extremely well, and will help you as much as he can to understand things. This is a difficult class to say the least, but if you can ace his class you'll be more than prepared for Calculus. Take him for any class you possibly can!!
AWESOME PROFESSOR!!! People say his class is really easy...it isn't, he is just a really great teacher so it seams easy. When he asks if you want a take home test SAY NO!!! The take home test is extremely difficult and is close to impossible, trust me! DO THE HOMEWORK AFTER CLASS! If you do your homework it will help a lot with quizzes and tests!
Took business calculus and earned an A after a 14 year hiatus from math, with the last course being a failing grade in College Algebra. Mike made learning enjoyable and went out of his way to insure comprehension. Constantly reviewing and engaging the class. If you do your homework, show up and ask questions there is no reason you won't get an A.
Very interesting and fun class. He is very passionate about Math and is thorough. His class is very fast paced.
He is a really great professor and very passionate about what he does. He is very patient because he knows stats doesn't come natural to everyone. He really wants to influence his students negative mindset in regards to math. He is a fun professor to have for Statistics. I loved having him as my statistic professor. He's a great person above all.
Lenient grader on tests & homework, not on quizzes. You basically get your entire grade from the tests though. Not a very organized guy to say the least, but at least he speaks English. Nor the nicest guy at first but he gets better. Dont use electronics, show up to class, & use the free tutors in the learning lab. Good luck! Avoid take-home tests.
Amazing professor !!!! I really enjoyed his class. He's great at explaining the material and the concepts, all the while making the class enjoyable. His sense of humor is slightly disturbing at first. 4 tests, one optional final and lots of short quizzes. Show up for class, use his online website to study and you'll do great !
Nice professor.
If you want to waste your time and money, take this professor. He teaches easy stuff on the board and tests you on the most difficult stuff in the book. He never asks if the students have any questions. If you do ask a question, be prepared to be ridiculed if front of the class. It hard to respect a professor like him.
He started out the semester great! Teaching the right info, being really clear, covering notes. But then he stopped giving test reviews and basically stopped giving us quizzes. He doesn't grade your quizzes after a certain point in the semester, same with homework. So grade is tests. Can turn in test corrections for a few extra points. UNORGANIZED
Great class, professor goes off topic a lot, but if you pay attention you'll pass
Fun class to take! Neither overly difficult, or a cakewalk, just do your homework and study study study. He focuses more on the math than applications, which I found refreshing as a non-engineer. My only complaint would be that he's not too eager to help with homework, but whatever, this was Calc 3, you should know how to find help if you need it.
I remember taking Prof.e Huff a few years ago for Elementary Algebra. This was my first class at ACC, and he was such an amazing professor. Attendance wasn't mandatory but it helped a lot. Going to class and doing an assignment was so much easier than not going to class and getting it done. He was very helpful & I would take him again if I could
Pop Quiz first day on integrals in Calculus II. There are long problems that take up a page a piece with lots of formulas to memorize. Expect to spend a lot of time doing homework and do not miss class. I felt prepared for the next course in the Calculus series. Huff prepares students for the rigors of physics and engineering. He is polite.
Prof. Huff is an awesome and funny guy. His lectures are difficult to follow at times, but that may just be the nature of the beast. He wants his students to do well, and is a lenient grader. He makes it clear what you are responsible for knowing. I had a 7 year hiatus before his Calc class and still managed an A without a ton of effort. Take him!
I didn't have to purchase a book for his class, he has it available online. Most days he handed out pre-printed notes with examples. If you're having trouble understanding, ask in class and don't miss class, he wants his students to pass. I would definitely take him again for another math course.
Wow, this guy's tests are tough. He definitely does not test the way he teaches. He teaches at a beginner level and tests you at an expert level. Like if he had done a superb job at teaching. The students that got an A in my class had already taking the class before. He likes to say: its a difficult subject. So easy for him to hide behind that.
Great professor. Great at lecturing and handouts. Doesnt track homework so its easy to fall behind.
Huff is a nice guy and wants his students to succeed. Most of the difficulty of his tests come from the material in Cal 2 and not from the way he tests. His tests are challenging but fair and he adequately prepares you with full reviews and previous tests to study from. He is also a lenient grader. Study hard and you'll do great.
DO NOT TAKE. He wrote his own textbook and it DOESN'T MAKE SENSE. He regularly has to make amendments because the information is wrong. He never fails to remind you that only 60% of students pass his class, and no one makes A's. He has a bad attitude and isn't clear on assignments. Too often I have heard "I don't know" from him. DO NOT TAKE
Do not take him. He manipulates grades to fit his curve and he does it the last few weeks so you can't withdraw without an F. If you take him my advice is take him if you already know Calculus 2 and do not ever fall for take home tests, they are so hard they will keep you up all night for days.
If you get the chance to take professor Huff you definitely should! He wants his students to do well and grades you knowing that this math class is probably the only one you need, he is fair and very helpful with homework and quizzes if you go to class a little early. He is also a pretty funny guy! Thanks Professor Huff!!
He is a good professor and the tests can be tough. Study the reviews and learn his sense of humor.
I made a B in this class without putting in much effort. He is an easy grader, and gives out more points then you actually deserve. We did have to do a take home test. It was long, but not difficult at all. If you struggle with math overall, I would not recommend this professor.
Would not take his class again. Hard, long tests and not especially helpful during class.
4 tests + a final. If you do the study guides and study them after completion the tests will be easier. The study guides are very similar to the actual test. There is several section of homework to be turned in but it is all easy. Great teacher. The quizzes are also pretty easy. Use to study guide key to study. Everything is put up on Blackboard.
Huff is great. He teaches students how to understand the why's and not just the how's of math, what all the equations and symbols actually mean, and how they apply to real-life situations.
Easily one of the best math teachers I've ever had. Math is definitely my worst subject and he made it bearable and there was times that I actually looked forward to his class. He teaches real world application which makes the material much easier to understand and keeps you interested. I left his class feeling more prepared for the real world.
Horrible. Would not take again. If you can take anyone else do it.
I love math. It's amazing how good professors can inspire and make it fun. But not this one. Avoid.
No extra credit, but allows you to correct your tests and count it as an extra quiz grade. It is an absolute must to keep up with homework. He doesn't have a syllabus as of Spring 2016 that informs when quizzes happen. Come prepared with questions and with knowledge of what will be lectured on that class. He wants participation.
If you can take anyone else do it. The negative reviews below are being polite. Trust me on this one.
Clear lecturer. Works out lots of problems on the board and happily answers questions. A very reasonable grader and he knew the class was hard. I suspect if you like math you'll love this guy. However, his sense of humor, unfortunately, kinda exacerbated my test anxiety issues so if you have similar anxiety he may not be the right teacher for you.
This guy was awesome. Best math teacher I've ever had. He spent plenty of time reviewing, but it never got long-winded to where he would rush through new material and expect us to figure it out on our own. He also explained stuff practically so that I was able to make connections and actually understand WHY I'm doing certain calculations.
Makes a difficult class easy
This is seriously the best math prof I have ever had. This was my third time attempting college algebra, as I am HORRIBLE at math, and I came out with an A because of him. He's sarcastic but nice and genuinely cares about student progress. Tests are straight forward and homework is reasonable. I suggest going to the tutorials and attending class.
This guy is phenomenal and will be willing to help IF you are willing to learn math. If math is not part of your major or you're just taking his class for pre-req purposes only, pick someone else
By far the worst math class I have ever taken. Get ready to pay money for a horrible experience. Don't walk, RUN the other direction. Better to wait for a good professor to open up instead of waste it taking this one. Don't say you were never warned.
If you are on the fence about taking this class, go ahead sign up for someone else. Thank me later.
Sarcastic and condescending. I can definitely say that it was a rough and painful class. There are other better professors so keep looking. If I had to do it again knowing what I know now... Hands down I would definitely choose someone else. If you've already signed up for his class... Good luck to your poor souls. Horrible and would not recommend.
I had a dream where I was stuck in math class with a horrible professor. To my surprise, it wasn't a dream. This class will make me cringe for years to come. Would not take again.
Everyone complains that students don't want to learn or America has lost its edge in math If you are a student, it is very important to choose the right professor. Let's just say that taking Huff's class left a very very bad taste. I ended up taking it with another and lo and behold I fell in love with math again and with 1/100th the pain of Huff.
Inferior teaching and will not prepare you for A&M. I told my parents I was disappointed and regretted taking math classes at ACC now that I realized it was wayyyy below the standard any respectable university. Very Condescending in class. Should have chosen a nicer professor since it was pointless tolerating his personality for a whole semester.
I'm going back to school for my second bachelor's. I made an A, but I wouldn't recommend this professor. Few things I noticed - He tries to make things sound real complicated and goes fast to prove his superiority. Sometimes makes students feel like an idiot if they don't grasp it immediately. It's not the subject, it's the teaching style. Cringe.
HARD MATERIAL, NICE PROFESSOR. Negative comments come from the material of Calc II itself. Prof Huff cares for his students and tries to explain math as best as he can. His lectures aren't outstanding but they're understandable by those who apply themselves in class. (Btw, his online notes are very helpful)
This guy is one of the best math professors at ACC. His content can be difficult though, so make sure you are well-prepared before you take his class.
He was a easy grader and very sweet. Got straight to the point when teaching and lets you use some note on test so have great note taking skills!!
Horrible. Worst class I have ever made the mistake of signing up for. Very difficult I should have searched for a better professor.
1/10 Ask the class if they have questions, then makes you feel like the dumbest person alive for asking. Keep your hand down and never call attention to yourself.
Don't take his class. The professor is unresponsive when you try to reach him outside of class, and he is extremely condescending. Being good at math does not give anyone the right to belittle others.
His lectures were decent. Does a lot of scenarios and ask the class for questions to make sure we understand. Will often tell personal stories and quirky jokes. His test weren't to hard and he's not a tough grader, allows corrections. Do the homework and reviews and you be fine.
Great professor with a interesting sense of humor. Lectures are easy to follow if you have a decent math background. He gives all the answers to the homework which was very helpful. Study guides are almost identical to the test, so do the study guides and you should be alright.
hard class, hard tests but good prof. tries to explain calc as best as he can. doesnt prepare very well for tests. gives older tests as reviews yet older tests are much easier than what he gives. accessible during office hours and quizzes are group work. gives optional review sessions on fridays for anyone interested. a lot of work for a hard class
Professor Huff is a great professor, he has a hilarious personality. I took him for Trig, and precal. He goes over the material thoroughly and is willing to answer questions. The homework will prepare yo for the exams. If you put in the work and pay attention you will get a B, if you are the type that likes math, I highly recommend him.
Huge ego with a humor that distracts from the mathematics in a bad way. Will call out students in the middle of lecture if you rub him the wrong way - even if unintentional. Lacks polish and professionalism and loves to show off the ego. I would not recommend to friends.
Professor Huff is the best. I took college algebra and trigonometry with him and I probably gonna take him again. I recommend him to everyone.
Horrible professor. I would not recommend him to anyone.
The only downside I say you get from taking this professor is just his being disorganized about when he gives out quizzes. But, if you do your HW, show up for class, and read your syllabus, you'll be prepared for it all and not fall for his jokes as easily as those who don't pay attention at all. He's also very helpful during his office hours.
Mike is alright, hes tough but fair. He guides you through the course with the quizzes, lectures, and extra materials. Took him for Trig and Calc 2, did well in both. Just stick with it, show him you know the math.
I took Huff through a 11 week course. I am not good at math to begin with but I think anyone would agree this class was hard! since we met twice a week we covered up to 3 chapters in one day. it was hard to learn calculus so fast. he has lots of quizzes and homework but they are very easy and help your grade. does partial credit on tests. good luck
I am very glad I took Prof Huff for this class at ACC, since this class has a rep for being difficult at A&M. I'm not very good at math, but the class wasn't bad. Do the homework and study old tests, because his exams are very similar to those types of problems. Huff is very nice and willing to help, and he makes his tests very doable.
Take Professor Huff. He provides you with notes, practice problems, and plenty of homework to master the subject. Easy grader who accepts late work until the very last day of class. Always available during office hours. Quizzes are easy, open note, and, combined, are worth a test grade. Many students follow him from MATD through Calculus.
I absolutely loved Mike for Calc 2. I haven't taken calc in a year and I was still able to get an A in his class. His lectures are clear and consistent and he is an easy grader on exams. Uses the textbook for homework and has daily "quizzes" that you can work on with the people around you. Cares more about you actually learning than grades.
Great professor! DONT BUY TEXTBOOK he made his own & its free. His test reviews are exactly like his tests. If you ask him to do a review session he will gladly take the time to do so on Fri/Sat. The HW is way harder than anything on the test, but still do it.
Good professor who knows math. Quizzes you the first half of the semester and you can work on them at home or with people around you, and that is 10% of your grade. Not a tough grader on exams and tries his best to explain tough content in the simplest matter possible. Accepts work until the last day of the semester. Take him, you won't regret it!
I've had Huff for 3 semesters now and I'd gladly give him positive feedback for every semester. He's always available for help and truly cares about you getting the grade that you want as long as you do too! I wouldn't call it easy because Calculus in general isn't "easy" however he really does try his best for his students success! Amazing prof!
Really good professor. One of my favorites. The material is hard, and this is a weed out class, but if you show Huff that you put in the effort, he will notice. Go to class and do the textbook homework.
Prof. Huff is such a good teacher. He knows a lot of things. He talks about a lot of things. And his class is interesting. You think Calculus is hard? NO ITS NOT! He will explain every single detail so everyone will understand it. He also sometimes release class before he's suppose to end the class. :)
Mike is an awesome professor! He's got a dry wit but it's hilarious. He's incredibly helpful and accessible for office hours. I'm taking him for calculus right now and he's great! Anytime I feel lost, he's quick to help me out. I'd totally take his class again. Not sure what other people have against him; he's really awesome.
4 Tests, two projects, many quizzes, but theyre in class and open book/notes (worth a test grade). Homework is a good representation of the exams. Hes a really nice guy who is easy to talk to. Definitely recommend taking him for your entire Calculus sequence.
Dope prof. Hes pretty engaging and his lectures do a great job of clearing up difficult concepts covered in the textbook. Theres a lot of homework but its great for test preparation. (Especially applications problems.) Funny dude, very understanding if you miss a deadline.
Great Teacher! very flexible! you can ask without feeling dumb. He is always willing to help you. His class are fun! I highly recommend him!
He is a really good professor who teaches a passion. I had him for calc 2 and calc 3 and I learned so much from him.
Mr. Huff is a passionate professor who really knows his stuff. He has a great attitude and is hilarious. You can tell he really cares about the success of his students. He shows the application of each lesson and is really good at putting things in simple terms. He encourages questions and is willing to help every step of the way. Would take again
Mike is a great person and a teacher. He always has a smile in his face. His office is always open for us. His class is very well organized, he will give you handouts for every class that will help you a lot in class. I am going to miss him.
He was my favorite math teacher ever. Highly recommend!!
He is a great math teacher but you will have to put in a lot extra hours If you want to understand the material enough to receive an A
He is the best math professor that I have ever had. He gives you some room for errors. Always available during the office hours to answer your questions. His lecture is awesome and easy to understand. I learned a lot in this class.
If you want a huge ego, extremely condescending personality, and bad dad humor this is your guy. He tries to make things sound really complicated and goes fast to prove his superiority. Makes you feel like an idiot if they don't understand anything in the lectures. I went into the final with an A- and failed the final along with most of the class.
If you are good at math and can remember algebraic equations(algebra in general), this professor would be amazing for you. As someone that struggled in math, I fell behind and his teaching methods weren't as helpful to me. Nice guy overall. Would recommend to friends
Mr. Huff is great. Fair grader. Very knowledgeable. He's not afraid to challenge his students and often does. But the challenges are reasonable and make you prepared for the next math class in the sequence. One of the better math teachers @ ACC. Highly recommend.
I took Algebra Express with him and professor Hashemi- They made a good team. He does lecture super fast and does math on his own sometimes, i spent most of my time in the learning lab. But, he is a great professor- super funny and was more laid back on grading.
I took Mike for both Trig and Pre-calc and I would highly recommend him for any of his math classes. Sometimes goes a little fast in his lectures, and does a lot of the math in his head, but he always keeps class entertaining. Not a lot of extra credit so make sure to study for the tests and quizzes.
Loved this professor! Study guides are identical to the tests. He does not like phones in class so be careful with that, also he offers corrections on tests for a quiz grade.
It's a math class, so you have to do the work and make sure you understand it. But Prof Huff is always in a good mood and enthusiastic about the material. He is an easy grader as far as homework goes. I would take him again
Great professor, never had a problem understanding the topic because he explained it so well. Gives partial credit and is understanding that you have other classes/responsibilities. Funny guy would definitely take his class again.
great professor: he is organized, engaging and very smart. His lectures are well thought and easy to understand. His test aren't hard but he is a sticker on notation and algebra (writting less could benefit you). With this being said he is a tough grader but he is a fair grader. my class test mean was about 74 , 5 ppl made A's and 6 ppl made B's
Take his class! He's good at what he does and explains everything perfectly. He's a nice teacher and cares about his students.
This professor gave extra credit which is a major plus. BUT he can be all over the place and unclear during his lectures. He expects ( and even jokes) that students know more than most actually do. You have to put in the work but his exams are never a surprise. What he says will be on them is actually what is on them. Not the best but not bad.
prof. Huff is way better than I have thought. I only took his calc 3 class, so I don't know about his pre-classes. 100% help for the class quizzes, one take home project. First test in class. Two tests are in testing center. Fourth test take home with 25 multiple choice-answers questions. Final is comprehensive. it was awesome!!
if you wanna pass, be prepared to work your tail off. This class is not for the faint of heart. He does give a take home test, but dont smile yet. It is the hardest take home test ever, and super long. All the other test are in the testing center but the final. It is the hardest math class ever !
Cool dude, he taught Calculus II well. Tests weren't too bad and he gave me pretty generous partial credit when I did stupid things such as multiplying the exponents when I multiplied numbers with the same base.
It all went well until we reached chapter 13... Seriously, that chapter is tough. You would think that a take home, mostly multiple-choice test would be easy. No, it took me 30 hours to complete! Even so, with my 4 textbooks open around the clock and tons of online research, I learnt more than I would have imagined. Excellent professor overall!
Calculus 2 ... whew.... glad it's over. Just kidding, it wasn't too bad! Huff made it work. He is funny and brings a great attitude. His lectures are enjoyable and he thoroughly covers each topic. Anything he doesn't cover, your not expected to know. He grades fairly and his tests are manageable. Take Huff and you'll be fine.
Professor Huff was a great teacher, as long as you show up and have the intent to learn you can easily do well in his class. There is a lot of homework but he was pretty relaxed on the due dates. He is a great guy who genuinely wants you to learn in his class, do yourself a favor and sign up.
A little disorganized, but overall a great professor. You can tell he really cares about the subject he is teaching and wants his students to succeed at learning the material. If you attend class and pay attention, you should do well. He will slow down during lectures if only 1 student needs him to. I recommend him to all. You won't regret it.
I took Huff for Calc 2 and Calc 3. He's a really good professor and I grew to respect him a lot. His classes are pretty laid back and easy to get through for the most part. He'll try to make things easy to understand for everyone and his love for math is pretty contagious sometimes. I wouldn't say it's a super hard class but it is calculus so...
Good choice for calc classes if you must take them online
Overall, pretty good prof. All the hw was a completion grade and he let us have one take-home test. My only complaint is he told the class that the final would be take-home, and then, four days before he "changed his mind" and made it proctored in-class (online).
Had this professor for Calc 1 & 3, and made A's in both. His tests are standard, but don't expect him to give you problems from the book. He wants you to know the material, not memorize it. Attend his lectures, ask questions and participate in his lectures, and do the homework and quizzes, and you should do well. 4 exams 80% of grade.
Professor huff was a great teacher and really helped me understand math. As someone who is usually really bad in that subject I passed his class with a B. so if your looking for someone who cares about you as a student and wants you to succeed take his class
Michael Huff was an amazing professor for me! He is very helpful and funny. I am not good at math AT ALL, but he was very supportive and very "we're all in this together."
Professor Huff has a very unusual way of teaching. Don't feel offended if he subtly calls out the class by asking what he knows is an obvious question but you can't answer it. He can seem passive aggressive at first by throwing a chuckle here and how he'll randomly quiz to the class but he means well. Do the homework, go to lecture, you'll pass.
If you took algebra in hs this is all review. work is pretty easy, tests aren't super hard. prof is nice and just works problems in class, easy a if you pay attention honestly. it's a pretty standard math course, but you're not really going to get anything more than a 16 week refresher out of it.
Dr. Huff teaches math really differently than any other math professor I've had, but once I got used to it I really liked his class. He understood how hard it was to learn online due to covid and offered us make-up points on exams, and an extra credit exam. He was always happy to explain concepts multiple times, especially in office hours.
He CARES about you and explains things very well. 5/5
One of the best math professors I have yet encountered in my studies. Im at UT and took a summer class at acc. This professor has been amazing in all aspects, good humor, good classes, good stuff, how lucky that I got him.
The homework made this class more stressful. He made a mistake on the course schedule so we had to do our midterm/project and Test 3/ Final in the same week on top of all the homework. The lectures were super long but I found that I somehow learned the material while doing the tests. If you can focus in lecture for 3 hours, give it a try.
I'm not sure what I did to make this prof not like me. I emailed for clarification on the test grade bc I was looking at my graded test next to the book & was very confused. He then accused me of cheating. If I was cheating I would have gotten myself a better grade than an 87. Very disorganized. Allows you to start tests early which is helpful.
Very sweet professor. Gave plenty of chances for questions and ways to get pointed added to test grades.
Lectures & homework more complicated than they had to be compared to the tests. 3 hr long lectures, a little condescending. Can start tests early and gives the opportunity to earn points back on tests. Have taken calc 2 previously & the way he teaches concepts is very confusing. If I wasn't already familiar w/ some topics I would've been screwed
I took a 10-week summer class for Calc 2 with this professor. I just took Calc 1 in the spring so I was heading right back into it. I was worried about how much this class would drive me crazy, but it wasn't that hard actually. Tests were basically the same as reviews and as long as you keep up with quizzes and homework you'll do fine.
He's pretty cool. You have to study in order to do well, but he gives a lot of resources to do well in the class. Funny dude.
A lot of homework assignments but still manageable. Very funny during class and explains things clearly and is always open to questions and participation. Tests are a bit difficult but the study guide is past tests and there is a review day. Generous grader who only wants the best for students. Office hours are encouraged for learning and chatting.
Professor Huff is very lecture heavy but his lectures don't apply to the homework very well, making it very hard to succeed in his class.
Lots of homework, but it helped with comprehension. Not a difficult class if you regularly seek help from the learning lab. Do the homework before the lecture and it will make so much more sense. He's pretty funny, and likes participation. I like math so it wasn't too hard, and the class averaged B's and A's on all the exams. Definitely recommend.
Huff is an experienced and fair professor. He's very friendly, patient, understanding, and diplomatic. Super easy to contact; quick replies. Lectures are problem-based, so preview the notes before class. You must study the content to memorize the lessons, so do all the homework. Huff assigns projects alongside tests, but grades generously.
Prof Huff Is easily approachable and is genuinely fascinated by math. He can explain the content in several different ways and gives you ample time to complete assignments. If you listen to his lectures, complete the assignments, and genuinely ask him when you don't understand something you will pass.
Professor Huff is the best professor I've had at ACC by far. While his lectures are long and dense, his way of explaining things and his subtle sense of humor make it much more digestible. He is a very lenient grader and gives curves on exams. HW is difficult and long, but helps. You will pass if you pay attention in lectures and take good notes.
The way he teach is so much understandable. RECOMMENDED
Prof Huff is definitely one of the best professor. He is always so funny in his lectures and the way he teaches calculus makes it so easy. There is average amount of work and quiz and test but the way he teaches makes it seem that calculus is so easy. 100% recommended.
An easy grader, going fast during class lectures but if you ask, he will explain. Many homeworks but doable. Recommend taking this professor.
Professor Huff's teaching style can be tricky, but engaging with it pays off. Lectures are dense but manageable. Homework is tough, but reviewing with unstuck AI helps a lot. Worth taking if you're willing to put in the work.
Professor Huff is great and funny and one of the best professors that I've ever had he makes calc 3 stuffs pretty easy to understand also his sense of humor makes it more of fun class if you do the homeworks and quizes then you will be fine on test since homeworks are much harder and challenging I would definitely take him again
I took Professor Huff for Calc 2 and 3; he is the most outstanding math professor I've had. He handed out a template of the notes for each class and perfectly described the content. He includes "proofs" for every concept and ensures everyone understands. He always holds review sessions, and tutoring is available. Lots of particle credit is given.
Mike is the best math professor I've had to date. I took him for 4 different classes and would've taken more if he had them. Always gives good feedback on tests and will curve them if necessary. He gives some quizzes but they are generally group quizzes. HW is mandatory but not too long He is a very fun teacher and truly loves teaching.
Calculus is difficult, and Mr. Huff's lectures and notes make it easier to understand. The tests aren't too difficult, as is the homework. He was really kind and tried to keep a light atmosphere while teaching. Overall, he was a great professor, but nothing to write home about.
Ive had horrible math professors in the past but he made me love math again! He doesnt hand out A's on a silver platter so you definitely need to study on your own time to get A's. People say calc2 is the hardest calc class but its the most fun math class ive had so far and he is super understanding. Definitely recommend!!
Professor Huff is hilarious and caring; he has no problems with you turning in late assignments. I am no math major, but he tried to explain everything clearly. To prep for tests: do homework, quiz, and complete tasks from the test folder (tests in the folder are similar to his actual tests).
He's a nice professor, but his grading criteria are pretty strict. He takes off points even for small details that don't seem very important.
This was one of the first college classes I had ever taken. Professor Huff was very funny and explained things in a clear manner. I would say I struggled on ALEKS homework and had to get a tutor, but math is definitely not my strong suit. He encourages participation and loves math. He also gives a study guide that looks just the test.
He's not a bad teacher but he gives huge amounts of homework, a quiz every single class, and some projects. Don't take him in the summer. In 2 weeks we had about 150 hw questions with multiple parts, a project, 2 quizzes, and a test.
He's one of the most caring professors I have ever encountered. His Calc 3 class is a bit difficult but he makes it super fair and he's willing to go out of his way to make sure you understand topics. if you need to get a math credit out of the way I'd definitely take Huff.
This man is hilarious and one of the best math professors you can take. Very knowledgeable, upbeat (besides the handful of threats to make the class harder), and lenient with grading. If you get the chance, sign up for his class. MAKE SURE TO KEEP ON TOP OF THE INSANE AMOUNT OF HOMEWORK if taking during the summer.
Professor Huff changed the trajectory of my life with his precalculus class. I had always felt like math was simply out of my reach, but his simple, clear explanations gave me a very solid foundation in calculus that led me to choose engineering as my major. I'm taking him for calc 2 now + recommended him to my friends- take his class if you can!
Spends little to no time explaining the concepts and gets straight into working through example problems so the entire time I felt like I was copying down what he wrote but not grasping anything. Rambles off topic and moves on without finishing probs. Never replied to emails. Final exam review was completely misleading on what was actually on test
Completely unorganized, lectures were confusing & offered the bare minimum of explanations, I had to teach myself everything at home. I do not understand how he has so many positive ratings. Lazy and doesn't care if you do well. Will not reply to emails. Tests are way harder than anything he works through in class or puts on take-home quizzes/hw.
